TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL WOULD SPEW OUT FROM THE FUEL TANK ONTO THE GROUND DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT THEN PLACED THE VEHICLE AND NEUTRAL AND SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF WORK WHEN MY CAR STALLED AFTER I STOPPED AND MADE A LEFT HAND TURN ... IMMEDIATELY UPON TURNING, MY CAR STALLED & WOULD NOT START UP. I TRIED TO START THE CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BECAUSE THIS EVENT HAPPEN A PRIOR TIME & STARTED UP IMMEDIATELY THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. I HAD TO PUSH MY CAR BY MYSELF OUT OF THE ROAD (2005 DODGE DURANGO HEMI V8) WHICH IS RATHER HEAVY AND IT WAS A VERY HOT DAY. AFTER PUSHING MY CAR TO THE PARKING LOT AGAIN, IT STARTED. MY CAR STALLED AGAIN AFTER I WAS LEAVING WORK AT A STOP SIGN 1 BLOCK AWAY BUT STARTED IN ABOUT 2 MINUTES. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP OUR 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH GAS, GASOLINE SPURTS OUT THE TANK WHEN IT IS FULL. THERE IS A RECALL, BUT THE DEALER SAYS OUR CAR IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. HOW IS OUR CAR NOT COVERED ALSO? IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR, SINCE THE CAR HAD ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. FROM THE RECALL, IT IS THE "FUEL TANK FILLER INLET CHECK VALVE". *TR
I HAVE A FUEL SPIT BACK PROBLEM W/ MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT WAS MANUFACTURED 05/05. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS LISTED AS A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL YEAR VEHICLE THAT WAS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO MINE. WHEN FILLING THE TANK, GAS WILL BLOW BACK OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WITH SUBSTANTIAL FORCE. GASOLINE IS SPEED OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS COVERED IN GASOLINE. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO ASK ABOUT THE ISSUE AFTER READING THE RECALL FOR THE EARLIER MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I SPOKE TO ADVISED THAT IT WAS VERY POSSIBLE THAT MY VEHICLE, BEING BUILT LATE IN THE MODEL YEAR, MAY HAVE HAD THE FAULTY VALVE INSTALLED DURING ASSEMBLY OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS CONCERNS ME BECAUSE SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES MAY HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THE OWNER'S LIKE MYSELF, CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR IT. I FEEL THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER THE SPECIFIED DATES IN 09V003000. OTHER THAN SKIN DISCOMFORT, I WAS NOT INJURED. THIS INCIDENT OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IF FILLED! *TR
1-2 POSSIBLE CONCERNS- #1- (5.7 V.8 ENGINE ISSUE) AS MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED THE VEHICLE STALLS AND QUITS ON SUDDEN STOPS, AND WHEN MAKING TURN. AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF - IT CAN BE RESTARTED - BUT NO ENGINE CODE IS GENERATED. THE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW THE SPECIFIC CAUSE, BUT CITES NUMEROUS THINGS THAT IT CAN BE - WANTING ME TO SPEND $$ TO INVESTIGATE EACH ONE AND REPLACE PARTS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES WITH THE DURANGO AND ENGINE STALL. THE ISSUE IS UNPREDICTABLE AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DUPLICATE - EVEN THOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED A DOZEN OR SO TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. ON SEVERAL OF THIS OCCASIONS I (AND MY FAMILY OF 5) HAVE BEEN PLACED IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS AND I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE DUE TO A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROL. THIS ISSUE MAY BE RELATED TO THE NEXT COMPLAINT. IT SEEMS STRANGE THAT THIS ON MANY OCCASIONS HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER A FILL UP. AND - EVEN THOUGH MY VIN WAS RECALLED IN 2005 AND FIXED - GAS STILL SPRAYS OUT THE FUEL FILLER AND ANY GAS STATION WHEN YOU FILL THE VEHICLE UP FULLY. TO GET AROUND THIS - MY VEHICLE CANNOT BE FILLED ALL THE WAY UP. THIS ISSUE IS EASY TO DUPLICATE - BUT MY DEALER STATES THAT THE WORK DONE IN 2005 SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS AND THAT ANY OTHER ISSUE ARE NOT A WARRANTY/RECALL ISSUES. AGAIN - THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME $$ TO TEST AND TRY TO FIND AN ANSWER SINCE ACCORDING TO THEM THIS PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE FUEL TANK TO FULL CAPACITY, THE FUEL WOULD SPILL BACK OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WOULD MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A SECOND DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000. UPDATED 12/16/11 *BF UPDATED 12/23/11
BOUGHT 2005 DURANGO 12/05-NEEDED SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SERVICES---DEALER STATED LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON (9/06), STALLING 3/07, AT LEAST 5 TIMES-LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID BLAMED, STALLING 2/08--4 TIMES IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS, AGAIN BLAMED LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL LEAK IN 3/07, NOW REAR GEAR SHOT WITH A $900+ PRICE TAG AND THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY 3 YEARS/36,000. (NEWS TO ME--IN 2005 THEY WERE ADVERTISING 7 YEARS-70,000 ON DRIVE TRAIN). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAME APART AND IS CURRENTLY VERY LOOSE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,500. UPDATED 07/09/08 *BF A PIN POPPED OUT OF THE GAS PEDAL. UPDATED
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND IT KEEPS STALLING AND SHUT DOWN. EVERYTIME I SLOW DOWN AND GO INTO REVERSE THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THE RPM GOES CRAZY, SOMETIMES, THEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THE DEALERSHIP HAS YET TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE GONE BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE CAR. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO SUV HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHILE IT IS BEING DRIVEN IN RAINY OR WET CONDITIONS. IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME IN NOVEMBER 2007 ON REGULAR SURFACE STREETS WHILE IT WAS RAINING AND MY WIFE WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO RE-START IT FOR OVER 2 MINUTES IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE SECOND TIME ON OR ABOUT 3/11/08 MY WIFE WAS TURNING RIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION IN RAINY CONDITIONS AND THE ENGINE STALLED MID TURN AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO RE-START THE ENGINE FOR OVER 2 MINUTES IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE THIRD TIME OCCURRED 5/6/08 ON REGULAR SURFACE STREETS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD IN RAINY CONDITIONS AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RE-STARTED FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES. ALL 3 OCCURRENCES INVOLVED LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE CONTROLS WHILE OUR CHILDREN WERE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO ALLAN SAMUELS DODGE IN ALLIANCE TEXAS AFTER THE 2ND INCIDENT FOR WARRANTY COVERED DIAGNOSIS AND THEY INFORMED ME AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT FOR A FULL DAY THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM AFTER THE 3RD INCIDENT AND AFTER HAVING IT FOR 2 FULL DAYS THEY ARE STILL ADVISING ME THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND ARE NOT RECOMMENDING ANY COURSE OF ACTION TO CORRECT IT. NO PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED ON THE VEHICLE TO MY KNOWLEDGE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE RECEIPTS GIVEN TO ME. I BELIEVE THEY ARE SIMPLY HOOKING UP THE ECM SCANNER AND LOOKING FOR FAILURE CODES, OF WHICH BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT IN I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NONE PRESENT. IN MY OPINION RIGHT NOW, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND MY WIFE AND CHILDREN INSIDE OF IT. *TR
MY 05 DODGE DURANGO IS SURGING REAL BAD WHILE AT A STOPPED POSITION. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES OF SURGING IT WILL SHUT ITSELF OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS PUT IT INTO THE SHOP 3 TIMES. THE BODYSHOP TOLD ME THEY CLEANED OUT SOMETHING AND THAT SHOULD FIX IT BUT IT DIDN'T. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AGAIN AND I JUST BOUGHT IT ON MAY 1ST 2008. *TR

THEREFORE, IF THERE IS A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, IT COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY $600 FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 84,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT HAS EXPERIENCED FAILURES WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM IN HER VEHICLE SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. WHEN FILLING HER VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, SHE NOTICED THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL COMES BACK OUT OF THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND INSPECTED BY A TECHNICIAN, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE WAS FAILING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WOULD BE A $200 DEDUCTIBLE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP) AND 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
I PURCHASED MY DURANGO IN FEB. 08 AND THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ABOUT ONE WEEK LATER. I WAS TAKING MY 3 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT WHEN I SUDDENLY COULD NOT HARDLY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL , I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND REALIZED THAT MY ENGINE HAD STALLED. THEN I RESTARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. I CALLED THE CAR DEALERSHIP TO REPORT IT. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE BREAKS WORKED ON AND MENTIONED THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND THEY SAID WITHOUT AN ENGINE LIGHT ON THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DETECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER MY BREAK WORK WAS COMPLETED I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP TO GO HOME AND ON MY WAY UP A HILL BEHIND A SEMI TRUCK GOING SLOW ABOUT 15 MPH MY DURANGO STALLED AGAIN AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A VAN. I TURNED AROUND TO HEAD BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT THE DASH LIGHT BEING ON. SO I PRECEDED TO GO HOME. ABOUT A WEEK OR SO LATER AGAIN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT MY DURANGO STALLED AGAIN. HAPPENED A COUPLE MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN 180 MILES ROUND TRIP. I SPENT 6 HOURS WAITING FOR THEM TO FIX IT AND THEY COULD NOT SO THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY AND ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD MY ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON AND MY DURANGO STALLED AGAIN WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SHOW THEM KNOW THE LIGHT IS ON. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I RETURNED HOME. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN SOLVED BUT ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER I HAD MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE DURANGO AND I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY ON TO A SIDE STREET WHEN IT STALLED AS ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS COMING AT ME AND I ALMOST GOT HIT . I KNOW DO NOT LET MY CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AND CANNOT HELP ME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO COME OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO EXISTING RECALLS AND HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MANIFOLD BOLT BROKE ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO. EXHAUST SMELL IN VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE GAS PUMP WILL STOP PUMPING, WITHIN SECONDS NEARLY A GALLON OF GAS WILL POUR OUT OF THE TANK. THE GAS NOT ONLY COVERS THE VEHICLE BUT HAS SPRAYED ME NEARLY HITTING MY EYES. THE GAS POURED ALL OVER THE GROUNDS OF THE GAS STATION REQUIRING ME TO REPORT IT TO THE CLERK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DECIDE TO FILL MY TANK. IT HAS GOTTEN TO A POINT IN WHICH I FEAR TO FILL MY TANK. I RESEARCHED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE WHICH I DID FIND. AFTER CALLING CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT APPLY TO THIS RECALL AND THEY WERE NOT LIABLE UNTIL MORE VEHICLES WERE REPORTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE. AS OF APRIL 7, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 69,000. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNAVAILABLE.
2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH 5.7 HEMI ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT THROW A CODE SO THE DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. MOST TIMES IT WILL RE-START BUT SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE RESTARTING. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS MORE THAN ONCE A DAY, SOMETIMES A COUPLE OF TIMES A WEEK....NEED HELP TO GET DODGE/CHRYSLER TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED W/ HEMI. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED W/ 26,000 MILES ON IT A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PROBLEMS W/ IT: BROKEN REMOTE KEYS-THE REMOTE LOCKING DEVICES ON BOTH KEYS ARE NOW DYSFUNCTIONAL DUE TO THE SOLDER THAT HOLDS THE BATTERY IN PLACE BREAKING. I CANNOT LOCK/UNLOCK VEHICLE FROM OUTSIDE AND WHEN IT IS LOCKED FROM INSIDE PRIOR TO EXITING, UPON RE-ENTRY, THE ALARM SOUNDS UNTIL KEY IS PUT INTO IGNITION AND VEHICLE IS STARTED. THE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPLACE THESE KEYS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!! WINDOWS SHAKING WHILE ROLLED DOWN-ANYTIME ANY OF THE WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN THEY SHAKE VIOLENTLY W/ IN THEIR CASING. THERE IS ALSO QUITE A BIT OF WIND NOISE HEARD WHEN WINDOWS ARE ROLLED UP COMPLETELY. HAD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THERE WAS A PROBLEM. NAVIGATION SYSTEM-THE MAIN KNOB HAS BECOME ALMOST DYSFUNCTIONAL. IT SEEMS THAT IT IS STICKING OUT FARTHER THAN IT ONCE HAD. WITH OUT USE OF THIS KNOB, THE ENTIRE NAV SYSTEM IS VIRTUALLY UNUSABLE. SEATBELT COVER-DRIVERS SIDE PLASTIC DUST COVER WHERE SEATBELT GOES INTO SEAT CAME OFF AND THE PLASTIC AROUND IT HAS A CRACK IN IT. THERE IS QUITE ALOT OF DUST BUILDING UP INSIDE THE SEATBELT MECHANISM. LIFTGATE SCREWS FALLING OUT-THIS HAS HAPPENED A DOZEN TIMES REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THEY ARE TIGHTENED. IT IS THE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE PLASTIC ON THE INSIDE OF THE LIFTGATE-WHERE THE CLOSING HANDLES ARE LOCATED. BROKEN PIN ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL-DEALER CALLING THIS A "PUSH NUT PIN" AND IT IS WHAT ATTACHES THE ACCELERATOR TO THE ARM. DEALERSHIP CERTAIN IT IS A PART MALFUNCTION HOWEVER CHRYSLER REFUSING TO REPAIR. I WAS CONTACTED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER, STATING MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL, AND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALER. I SCHEDULED THE APPOINT FOR THE RECALL AND FOR ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE. I INVESTIGATED THE RECALLS, AND FOUND 2: A POTENTIAL INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILURE, AND A PROBLEM WITH FUEL SPILLING OUT OF THE INLET DURING REFUELING. I SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT, AND OFF THE DURANGO ON 2-26-08. THE NEXT DAY, MIKE (FROM OUR DEALER) CALLED AND SAID THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. WHEN I FILL UP WITH GAS AT ANY GAS STATION, AND THE TANK IS FULL, THE AUTOMATIC CUT-OFF DOESN'T CLOSE IN TIME IN THE GAS TANK CAUSING GASOLINE TO SPEW/SPRAY OUT OF THE GAS TANK NOZZLE DOUSING ME, MY VEHICLE, AND CREATING A POOL OF GASOLINE ON THE GROUND UNDERNEATH THE GAS TANK NOZZLE. 2005 DODGE DURANGO FUEL CHECK VALVE PROBLEM. GAS COMES BACK OUT OF THE FUEL TANK WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN DRENCHED WITH GAS MANY TIMES, LUCKY THERE WAS NO STATIC DISCHARGE IN THE AREA! I WAS HIT THE EYE WITH FUEL ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS ONE RECALL AND AN EXTENSION OF THAT RECALL BUT REFUSES TO WARRANTY MY VEHICLE STATING THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT EFFECTED! SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, SEVERAL SPARK PLUGS, AND COIL WIRES. AS OF JANUARY 30, 2009, ALL OF THE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

GAS TANK SPURTS GAS AT ME WHEN FILLING AS TANK IS FULL JUST BEFORE THE NOZZLE CLICKS OFF, GAS SPILLS DOWN THE SIDE OF CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED UP. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 1 YEAR. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS THE SAME AS IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 05V034000 HOWEVER DODGE REFUSES TO CORRECT IT. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHEREIN THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING. THIS ALLOWS FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. CONSEQUENCE: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE. DODGE HAS TOLD ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAY THAT THE QUALIFYING VEHICLES WERE BUILT BEFORE 10/12/2004 AND THAT MINE WAS BUILT AFTER THAT DATE. I MAINTAIN THAT THEY EITHER USED THE SAME BAD PART IN MY VEHICLE OR DID NOT PROPERLY FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM FACED WITH A $600 REPAIR BILL FOR A DESIGN/PART FLAW THAT THEY DID NOT CORRECT AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT, 5.7L V8 STALLS WHEN BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE MAY 2007. THE DEALER HAS CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, REPLACED THE BATTERY AS THEY SAID IT WAS LOOSING VOLTAGE AND FLUSHED THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. AS WE DROVE IT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP AFTER IT WAS "FIXED" IT DID THE SAME THING, YET THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY HAVE IT. *TR
