I PURCHASED MY DODGE DURANGO LIMITED NEW IN 2005. I HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL APPROX. 1 YEAR IN TO OWNERSHIP. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT OR WHILE AT WORK IT HAS A SEVERAL SECOND HESITATION. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (3) TIMES THEY FINALLY FOUND A TSB TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FILTER WHICH THEY SAY THEY DID. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GET A LITTLE BETTER. NOW THOUGH (1500 MILES LATER) MY DURANGO IS HESITATING IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ( NEVER HAVE ) AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. I HAVE ALSO NOW HAD (2) INSTANCES OF THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CAN NOT REPLICATE THIS AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. MY DURANGO HAS SPENT ALMOST 2 WEEKS TOTAL IN THE SHOP WITH THESE ISSUES. I GUESS I WILL NEED TO PUT A SIGN ON MY REAR WINDSHIELD THAT READS "STAY BACK VEHICLE ENGINE DIES". *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO LOW IDLING WHEN THE CONTACT MADE A HARD TURN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED. THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE FAILURE IS SIMILAR TO WHAT IS STATED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE05027. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY DURANGO HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. AFTER IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO COULD DO NOTHING. MOST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME DAY ON MY WIFE. AT THIS POINT I AM BEGINNING TO SEARCH FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY THREE CHILDREN. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED!!! *TR
AFTER GETTING MY RECALL DONE REFERENCE # GO7 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY WINDSHIELD WIPER, IT WOULD NOT TURN ON II TURN TO YOUR WEBSITE AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V067000. IT SEEMS THIS WAS THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING! I CALL CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO SUCH THING OF THIS RECALL. I TOLD THEM MY PROBLEM BUT TO NO AVAIL. THEY CAN'T HELP ME. THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND GET A DIAGNOSTIC. BUT THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $65.00 PER HOUR FOR DIAGNOSTICS. I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL RECALL ON IT. *TR
ENGINE STARTS SPUTTERING THEN STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED, HEMI V8, 50K MILES HAS STALLED 4 TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. (65-80) AND TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE SUV HAS A LOSS OF POWER/STEERING/BRAKES AND IT IS QUITE A CHALLENGE TO COAX THE SUV TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AVOID DAMAGE. THIS LAST TIME THE SUV WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN A SAFE DISTANCE AND WENT OFF IN THE MEDIAN. IT ALSO LOST AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS SO I WAS TRYING TO MOVE THE SUV OFF THE ROAD AT NIGHT WITH NO LIGHTS TO GUIDE ON A BUSY SECTION OF I-90 IN OHIO. THE DURANGO HAS ALSO STALLED 2 TIMES BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN THE LAST 3-6 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD THIS LOOKED AT BY MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. THE DURANGO IS UP TO DATE ON ALL TSB'S AND RECALLS. I WILL BE BRINGING THE DURANGO BACK TO THE SHOP AGAIN TOMORROW TO HAVE IT CHECK OUT AGAIN. *TR
2005 DURANGO SHUT DOWN SITTING AT RED LIGHT LAST WEEK AND TODAY LOST ALL STEERING GOING DOWN ROAD STOPPED AND CHECKED POWER STEERING FLUID AND WHEN I OPENED CAP IT WAS UNDER ALOT OF PRESSURE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE OBTAINING A STICKER FOR HER VEHICLE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE FAILING AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE MILEAGE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER 40 MINUTES OF EXITING HER VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH HEMI ENGINE CONTINUES TO SUDDENLY STALL AT SLOW OR SLOWING SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC....DANGEROUS! AUTO TRANS. CONTROL MODULE REFLASHED ALREADY, VEHICLE JUST HAD COMPLETE 50K SERVICE WITH ALL PLUGS REPLACED ETC....DEALER SAYS WITHIN MANUF. SPECS. VEHICLE STALLS AND IS UNSAFE ! *TR
WHEN THE TANK WAS FILLED WITH GAS AND THE AUTO SHUT OFF ON THE DISPENSER ENGAGED, GAS WOULD SPEW OUT OF THE VEHICLE UNDER VERY HIGH PRESSURE. . THE FUELING PROBLEM IS ONE THAT CONFOUNDS ME. IF YOU ALLOW THE FUEL DISPENSER TO PUMP UNTIL IT AUTOMATICALLY STOPS, YOU WILL BE GREETED WITH A HIGH PRESSURE SPRAY OF FUEL THAT WILL COVER YOU AND ANYONE STANDING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PUMP. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE MANY RECALLS FOR CHECK VALVES IN FUEL TANKS, BUT NONE OF THEM COVER MY VIN NUMBER. THE DODGE PLACE WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FOR JUST OVER $700 ACCORDING TO MY QUOTE, AN AMOUNT THAT UNWITTING FUEL CUSTOMERS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PUMPS FROM ME MIGHT THINK WORTHWHILE. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN ON THE RECEIVING END OF THAT FINE FUEL SPRAY, ONLY TO WONDER WHY DODGE WILL NOT FIX AN OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARNING THEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN SHE MADE A RIGHT TURN. IN ADDITION, SHE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN, ELECTRICAL HARNESS, AND OTHER PARTS HOWEVER THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,468.

DRIVER AIRBAG WARNING LAMP COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, AND VEHICLE STALLS. BEEN BACK TOT HE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND ALL MODULES REPROGRAMMED OVER AND OVER WITH NO RESOLUTION. *TR
I HAVE 2005 DURANGO BOUGHT NEW. I HAVE HAD IT SHUT OFF ON ME GOING SLOW, MAKING TURNS AND GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE TURN THE KEY OFF AND START THE VEHICLE UP WHILE MOVING. I HAVE HAD IT INTO TWO DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIPS ONCE FOR 2 DAYS THE NEXT FOR TWO WEEKS. THEY DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE BUT FOUND MANY OTHER THINGS THAT NEED FIXED. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE KIDS. SHE'S AFRAID OF IT. IT JUST SITS IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. *TR

BALL JOINT FAILURE ON 2005 DODGE DURANGO. I FIND IT AMAZING THAT A VEHICLE THAT 27 MONTHS OLD AND DRIVEN SOLEY ON THE STREETS OF NEW JERSEY WOULD SUFFER "BALL JOINT" AND "TIE RODEND" FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 40K MILES AND HAS BEEN DEALER SERVICE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE LINKAGE FAILED. THE LINKAGE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,406 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,330.

BOUGHT CAR IN 2007 HAD TO REPLACE ONE KEY BECAUSE OF ELECTRONICS AT 180 DOLLARS EACH, 2009 CHANGED CAR BATTERY HAD TO RESET KEYS AT 80 DOLLARS, 2011 KEYS NEED REPLACED AGAIN AT 130 DOLLARS EACH. BAD DESIGN SO THEY CAN KEEP FLEASING YOU FOR MONEY. ALSO HAD FUEL TANK REPLACED, BRAKE LINES RUBBED TOGETHER CAUSING HOLE IN LINE AND LOSS OF BRAKES, DUST COVER ON DRIVERS SEAT BELT BROKE OFF, SCREWS IN BACK TAIL GATE KEEP LOOSENING AND FALLING OUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND OVERHEAT WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE CYLINDER WAS NOT GETTING ANY COMPRESSION AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL. RECALL NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL) WAS FOUND. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
I PURCHASED A DODGE DURANGO IN 2007. AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD 24000 MILES. AROUND 2009 THE CAR WHEN I FILLED THE TANK WITH GAS AND REMOVED THE PUMP HANDLE FROM THE DURANGO THE GAS WOULD OVERFLOW ALL OVER. SO IN 2009 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN NORTH FLORIDA AVE. THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS FOR THIS CAR. AT THIS POINT THE CAR HAD 29,000 MILES. UP TO THIS DATE I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2010, 2011, AND 2012 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY STILL TELL ME THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. SO I DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS A LOT OF 2005 DURANGO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
2005 DODGE DURANGO - STEERING FAILURE. WHEN TRAVELING IN WET CONDITIONS, WATER WILL SPLASH ON TO THE ENGINE PULLEYS - RESULTING IN LOST OF POWER STEERING. *TR

THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE CABLE FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION VALVE FAILED. APPROXIMATELY THREE THOUSAND MILES PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE KEYS. VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE MORNING OF 7/27/2007 AFTER SITTING APPROX. 24 HRS. DROVE LESS THAN 3 MILES AT 35-45 MPH WHEN VEHICLE STALLED AS LEFT TURN WAS BEING MADE AT APPROX. 22 MPH (LOST ALL POWER, NO WARNING LIGHTS ETC..). HAD TO PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART (NO WARNING CODES APPEARED UPON RESTARTING). ON 8/6 VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN THE AFTERNOON AND DRIVEN LESS THAN 5 MILES @ APPROX. 40MPH WHEN SUDDENLY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS STARTED TO COME ON, A/C SHUT DOWN AND ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP ON 8/7 AND AFTER CLEARING CODES DEALER "COULD NOT IDENTIFY" ANY PROBLEMS. DEALER STATED NO FLASH SW UPDATES AVAILABLE. VEHICLE HAD 2 OTHER INSTANCES PRIOR TO THIS IN Q207 WHERE ALL LIGHTS CAME ON IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND ENGINE RAN ROUGH. DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY WHAT CODES MEANT, BUT PERFORMED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACEMENT (SUBJECT OF A DCX RECALL) AND VEHICLE RAN WELL FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE STALLING INCIDENT ON 7/27. *JB
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR A "ROUGH IDLE" AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T FEEL IT, AND DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, ALTHOUGH IT HAS DIED ON ME SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, I JUST FOUND OUT I NEED A NEW RACK AND PINION AND IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAS 54,000 MILES AND I HAVE A 70,000 POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, BUT APPARENTLY, IT ISN'T COVERED. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO USED MARCH 11, 2006 WITH 16,568, MILES ON IT. ON MARCH 13TH TWO DAYS AFTER WE PURCHASED IT AND 16,614 MILES LATER (48 MILES LATER) THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY! WE HAD THE TRUCK TOWED IN TO EARNHARDTS DODGE, FIND OUT THE RING GEAR AND PINION SET NEEDS REPLACED, DIFFERENTIAL SIDE BEARINGS - ALL AXLES REPLACE (INCLUDES CASE AND SIDE GEARS IF NECESSARY) THIS IS QUOTED FROM ALL MY RECEIPTS. 2ND TIME AROUND (JULY 18,2006) - NOW HAS 24,795 MILES ON IT, REAR END ISSUES AGAIN! AGAIN THIS IS THE REPAIRS - SEAL, AXLE SHAFT OIL - REPLACE ALL OTHER AXLES-RIGHT. BRAKE PADS, DISC BRAKE-BOTH SIDES REAR REPLACE DUE RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING CONTAMINATED PADS, ROTOR HAS FLUID BURNED INTO THE SURFACE. REPLACED RIGHT AXLE SEAL AND BRAKES. ALSO HAD TO REPLACE WATTS LINK SWAY BAR, REPLACED BELL CRANK AND LINKS. REPLACED BOTH REAR STABILIZER BARS AGAIN. 3RD TIME (JANUARY 10,2007) - NOW AT 38,051 MILES REPLACE SEAL, AXLE SHAFT OIL, REPLACE ALL OTHER AXLES - REPLACE SEAL, DRIVE PINION OIL REPLACE ALL OTHERS. 4TH TIME, (JANUARY 29,2007) NOW AT 39,329 AGAIN, REPLACED BELL CRANK, WATTS LINK. 5TH TIME (JULY 16,2007) - 52,058 FAILED BEARING IN REAR DIFF, NEED TO REPLACE RING & PINION AND ALL BEARINGS- COST - $1,474, (WHY WOULD I WANT TO PAY THIS MUCH WHEN THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?) TOLD THEM TO PUT THE TRUCK BACK TOGETHER, WE CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT. 6TH TIME - NOW AFTER RESEARCHING THIS VEHILCE, WE FOUND OUT, EARNHARDTS DODGE/HYUNDAI IN GILBERT ARIZONA (SAME PLACED WE PURCHASED IT AT) JANUARY 17,2006) (NOW 6 REPAIRS) NOTICED THE DURANGO HAD REAR DIFFERTIAL LEAKS, THEY REPLACED SEAL, DRIVE PINION OIL AND ALL THREE PARTS - THEN RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO STOCK WHEN IT WAS FINISHED AT 16,614 MILES! JUST 48 MILES BEFORE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE!! *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS WHILE IN MOTION AND TURNING. *AK
CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED 2005 DURANGO'S MADE DURING A CERTAIN TIME FOR FUEL COMPONENT FAILURES. (RECALL ID # 09V003000) EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, CHRYSLER STATES THAT MY PROBLEM IS A RESULT OF COMPONENT FAILURE AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN ANY WAY IN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER WILL NOT ASSIST ME EXCEPT TO OFFER ME A 20% DISCOUNT ON PARTS AND LABOR. MY SON-IN-LAW'S 2005 DODGE TRUCK ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS WELL AS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN PURCHASED BY A FRIEND OF MINE. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS WAY MORE WIDE SPREAD THAN CHRYSLER IS WILLING TO ADMIT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I AUTO FILL MY GAS TANK, WHEN THE AUTO SHUT OFF KICKS IN, GAS GUSHES OUT OF THE TANK, RUNS DOWN THE CAR AND PUDDLES ON THE GROUND. WHEN PUMPING GAS, SOMETHING IN THE GAS TANK WILL NOT SHUT OFF THE GAS PUMPING INTO THE TANK. IF YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK, A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS SPILLS EVERYWHERE INCLUDING ON THE PERSON PUMPING GAS, ON THE CAR AND ALL OVER THE GROUND AS THE GAS STATION. THIS IS NOT ALLEVIATED FROM CONSTANTLY PUMPING IT BY HAND INSTEAD OF THE AUTOMATIC. OUR DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OF THESE COMPLAINTS. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT IS REPLACING THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE RISK OF FIRE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF GAS JUST FROM FILLING TANK. ON THE EVENING OF 6-28-07 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK DURING A THUNDERSTORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE RUNNING. THE RAIN INTENSIFIED SO I SWITCHED THE WIPERS TO HIGH SPEED SUDDENLY THE LEFT (DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER STOPPED WORKING AND JAMMED AGAINST THE RUNNING RIGHT WIPER. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND I WAS ON A STRETCH OF ROAD WHERE I COULD SLOW DOWN AND GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER. UPON INSPECTION IT APPEARED THAT THE LEFT WIPER LINKAGE BROKE AS I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE WIPER WITHOUT RESISTANCE SO I MOVED IT TO THE FAR LEFT POSITION AND IT WAS OUT OF WAY OF THE RIGHT WIPER WHICH WAS STILL OPERATING. I WAITED FOR THE STORM TO SUBSIDE THEN DROVE ON WITH THE RIGHT WIPER WORKING AND THE HAZARD FLASHERS ON, AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. HAD A CAR BEEN IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME OF FAILURE THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH DIFFERENT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO LOOK AT THE CAR ON 7-2-07 AND REPAIRED THE WIPERS.*AK

FROM START OF INCIDENT, VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM 5 TO ABOUT 30 MPH BEFORE FINAL IMPACT. 2005 DODGE DURANGO STRUCK/WENT OVER TWO 8" CURBS OF PARKING LOT ISLANDS, WENT OVER PILE OF 75 20' PVC PIPES AND 15 PIECES OF 20' METAL FRAMING MATERIALS, HIT AND SMASHED THROUGH 2 PPLATES OF 12"X12"X2" CONCRETE PAVING BLOCKS, CAUSING 3 WORKERS TO DIVE OUT OF PATH, AND THEN FINALLY SMASHED INTO L REAR WHEEL OF INDUSTRIAL SIZE "CHERRY PICKER" SMASHING FULL FRONT END, BREAKING L AXLE, BENDING FRAME OF VEHICLE, AND CAUSING DRIVER AIR BAG TO DEPLOY, BEFORE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. *AK
2005 DODGE DURANGO (4.7 L V8) STALLS IN AN UNEXPECTED MANNER WHILE DRIVING. STALLS HAVE OCCURED WHILE DRIVING ON AT LEAST 5 OCCASIONS. STALLS HAVE OCCURRED IN NORMAL STREET TRAFFIC AND ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD A DODGE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2007. VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE SINCE THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT IT. THE VEHICLE MOST RECENTLY STALLED TODAY ON I-90 (JUNE 10, 2007).
I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO BRAND NEW,AND SINCE I HAD THIS VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN GIVEN ME PROBLEMS. THERE WERE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IDLED VERY HARD, AND IT SHUT OFF WHEN IT IDLED HARD, WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR WHEN TURNING TO GO AROUND A RAMP. WHEN SHUTTING OFF THE WHEEL LOCKED, AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. RECENTLY, THE CARE SHUT OFF ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AND A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE OUTER LANE AND MANAGED TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE THE TRUCK COULD HIT ME AND MY FAMILY. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. LAST INCIDENT HAPPENED ON UNE 10, 2007. EVERY TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. *AK
I DRIVE A '05' DURANGO. THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK I SLOWED TO TURN INTO MY PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT TURN. THE STERRING WHEEL HAD LOCKED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, STILL RUNNING AND MOVING FORWARD. I IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP THE BREAKS, JUST PRIOR TO GOING IN THE DITCH. I THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE DID REFIRE AND I REACHED MY DESTINATION. WITHIN 30 MINUTES I HAD DROPPED THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER. I HAVE SINCE BEEN INFORMED THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE, AS EXPECTED.

I COASTED UP THE EXIT RAMP AND THE VEHICLE START RIGHT UP. DEALERSHIP REQUESTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIRS. (5/18/07) TOOK VEHICLE A DODGE DEALERSHIP, IN WHICH ,THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WHICH WERE HARD TO DETECT. DIAGNOSES OF THE PROBLEM WOULD BE DIFFICULT. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE;STORAGE;TANK ASSEMBLY;FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

ONE DEALER SAID IT NEEDED A TUNE UP THAT WAS AT 24,000 MILES, SO WE PAID $900.00 FOR THAT AND NEW BRAKES. THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. ONE MONTH AGO, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND I HIT A PARKED CAR BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED AND BRAKES LOCKED UP. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED.
