DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
ENGINE DIES DURING DECELERATION. (SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL POWER IS LOST INCLUDING POWER STEERING. OCCURS ABOUT 5-10 TIMES A MONTH. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THE ISSUE, AND REMAINS AN ONGOING ISSUE. *TR
PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM HOWARD WISLON CHRYSLER OF FLOWWOD , MISSISSIPPI, AND A VEHICLE WITH FULL WARRANTY, THEY SOLD THE TRUCK KNOWING IT A HAD A DEFECT , THE TRUCK STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF SPEED WHILE DRIVING TO THE POINT WHERE MY DISABLE A DAUGHTER AND I ALMOST GOT HIT FROM THE BACK BY A EIGHTEEN WHEELER TRUCK AND KILLED IF IT HAD BEEN FROM A OFFICER HELPING US REALIZE THE TRUCK WAS STOPPING ON IT'S OWN. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER ITSELF AND THEY HAVE BLOWN ME OFF , AND STATED THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MORE THAN I HAVE OWNED IT. TO THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER MY CHILDREN AND I WAS NOR HURT SO THAT TO THEM IS NOT A PROBLEM. *JB
UNEXPECTED AND IMMEDIATE ENGINE STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEED CAUSED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, INCLUDING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PLACE THE TRUCK IN PARK, AND RESTART. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE PRODUCED GRAVE CONSEQUENCES. TOOK THE TRUCK TO A DODGE DEALER WOULD COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. WARRANTY WORK SIX MONTHS PRIOR INCLUDED CHANGING THE FLUID RETURN FILTER ON THE TRANSMISSION. THIS SERVICE WORK WAS A RESULT OF SLUGGISH POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. TRUCK HAS ALSO DIED WHILE DRIVING IN SLOW TRAFFIC. *NM
MR MULLENS WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY LOCAL STREET AT DUSK. PASSING THROUGH A TRAFFIC INTERSECTION THE ENGINE IN HER CAR JUST STALLED/DIED/STOPPED RUNNING. THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP AND TURN. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED THE ENGINE RESTARTED WITH THE FIRST TURN OF THE KEY. SHE IS NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED BUT SHE THINKS ITS POSSIBLE THAT THE ENGINE STALLED WHEN SHE TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS ON.
I OWN AN 05 DODGE DURANGO PURCHASED IN JAN 06. SINCE AUG 06 I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH IT CUTTING OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN. IT'S HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE THEN. NO LIGHTS COME ON ON THE DASHBOARD AND I LOSE MY POWER STEERING. I HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN IT WILL RESTART. I'VE HAD IT AT THE DEALER TWICE AND SINCE THEY CAN'T "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM, THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN, THEY SAID MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDED CLEANING, OF COURSE, THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING MY WARRANTY COVERED, BUT, I PAID FOR IT IN THE HOPES OF FIXING THE PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED THAT NEXT TIME IT STALLS, I WILL EITHER REAR END SOMEONE OR SOMEONE WILL HIT ME. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE RECALL LETTER WAS RECEIVED 7-21-06 CONCERNING RECALL # 06V067000; WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. THE CONTACT IS NOT EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING AT 25-35 MPH ON FIVE OCCASION. AFTER PULLING OFF OF THE ROAD AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON EACH OCCASION. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH PRIOR TO EACH INCIDENT. THE FIRST FOUR TIMES THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FIFTH TIME THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE THROTTLE NEEDED ADJUSTING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE MADE A SUDDEN STOP AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO BAD GASOLINE FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A FLAW IN THE FUEL TANK AND A BAFFLE THAT WAS LOOSE. THE BAFFLE BLOCKED THE FUEL GOING THROUGH THE ENGINE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE HOWEVER NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
I HAVE 2 2005 DODGE DURANGO'S ONE WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND WAS TOTALED IT HELP SAVE MY LIFE. SO I PURCHASED THE SAME AUTO AGAIN BUT RED, THE PROBLEM WITH THIS ONE IS THAT IT WILL STALL OUT FOR NO REASON. IT WILL START AGAIN BUT IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING I HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME THING THIS TIME TWICE IN ONE WEEK AND THEY HAD TO KEEP IT OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. YOU BUY A NEW AUTO AND EXPECT IT TO BE SAFE AND RUN. *JB
ENGINE JUST TURNS OFF WITH NO WARNING. STALLS FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD JUST PASSED A VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. IF FELT LIKE I HAD RUN OUT OF GAS THOUGH I KNEW I HAD PLENTY. I COASTED TO THE SIDE AND WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART AND RAN FINE. NEXT OCCURRENCE WAS DRIVING SLOWLY THROUGH A WILDLIFE ZOO, STOPPED TO BACK UP AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THIRD: HAD JUST STOPPED FOR STOP SIGN, SHUT OFF AS I ACCELERATED TO CROSS INTERSECTION. FOURTH: TAKING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL! TURNED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND ENGINE QUIT, THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH AND PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD. FIFTH: HAPPENED TODAY WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC PICKING KIDS UP AT SCHOOL. I WORRY THIS COULD HAPPEN ON BUSY INTERSTATE OR IN A DANGEROUS AREA WHERE I AM NOT ABLE TO QUICKLY GET THE CAR OF THE ROAD TO RESTART. VERY FRUSTRATING AND SCARY!! *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED (5.7L HEMI) STALLED AT LOW SPEED (5-15 MPH) IN PARKING LOTS AND AT INTERSECTIONS. MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE "DUPLICATED." THIS OCCURS ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS UNDER THE SAME DRIVING CONDITIONS DESCRIBE ED ABOVE. THIS IS DANGEROUS - ESPECIALLY AT INTERSECTIONS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *NM
FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT WHEN FUELING IS COMPLETED. I HAD THE RECALL ACCOMPLISHED BACK IN 2006, BUT THIS RECALL DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SPRAY FUEL AFTER EVERY FILL UP. ANOTHER RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED DURING RAINY CONDITIONS. THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 45,611 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN TRAFFIC ON FOUR OCCASIONS. SPEED DOES NOT APPEAR TO PLAY A ROLE, AS IT WAS DIFFERENT EACH TIME. THIS IS THE FOURTH INCIDENT WITHIN ONE YEAR. THERE WAS NO WARRING PRIOR TO EACH INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT (4.7L). ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ON A BUSY INTERSECTION AS I WAS TURNING INTO A GAS STATION. THE SECOND TIME I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, AND THE THIRD TIME, HAPPENED 5/27/2006, I WAS BACKING UP INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I AM A PETITE FEMALE AND I FREQUENTLY DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ALONE. THIS VEHICLE IS A COMPLETE SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE AT ALL, IT HASN'T BEEN A YEAR YET. AT THIS POINT, I AM CONSIDERING BREAKING MY LEASE AND SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. *JB
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND HAVE HAD IT 1 MONTH. AFTER 1 WEEK OF HAVING IT, IT HAD STALLED OUT AND JUST DIED TWICE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE CAR LOT, AND THEY SENT IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY. THE DODGE PLACE HOOKED IT UP TO MACHINES, TEST DROVE IT, AND SENT IT BACK BECAUSE THEY REPORTED THEY FOUND NOTHING. IT HAS IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS DIED OR STALLED OUT 3 MORE TIMES. *NM
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MY WIFE'S 2005 DODGE DURANGO (4.7 LITER 8 CYLINDER - NON-HEMI) SUV HAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICING AND THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN EXPRESSLY NOTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER MAINTAINS HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT A PROBLEM AND HE CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. JUST YESTERDAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY WASHINGTON, DC INTERSECTION AND MY WIFE WAS ALMOST BROADSIDED AS A RESULT. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER (AT LEAST THIS DEALER - TYSONS DODGE JEEP) DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE ONE BIT ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION INTO THE PROBLEM AND MY QUESTION IS: WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION? ARE LIVES GOING TO HAVE TO BE LOST? IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND IS CHOOSING TO CLOSE ITS EYES TO THE PROBLEM. NHTSA SHOULD NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. TOO MUCH IS AT RISK AND CHRYSLER IS MAKING A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY OFF OF THESE VEHICLES. WE PAID WELL OVER $30K FOR THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. *NM
2005 DODGE DURANGO - WHEN A WINDOW OR SUN ROOF IS OPENED INDEPENDENTLY IT CREATES EXTREME "AIR BUFFETING" WHICH HAS A DIRECT EFFECT ON THE OCCUPANTS EARS. THIS EXTREME PRESSURE IS PAINFUL AND VERY DISTRACTING TO THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH BRIEFLY IDENTIFIED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, WITH LITTLE CONCERN, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. NO MENTION OF THIS "BUFFETING" ISSUE AT TIME OF SALE. *JB

VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP CREATING A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 10 TIMES OVER A 4 OR 5 MONTH PERIOD. FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP (GARBER AUTO MALL - GREEN COVE SPRINGS FL) AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT DODGE WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WERE RESEARCHING A FIX, BUT DID NOT HAVE ONE AT THE CURRENT TIME. IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER, AT WHICH POINT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. LEARNED THAT A CO-WORKER'S 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM A WEEK EARLIER. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT DODGE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE. I ALSO CALLED THE MAIN DODGE 1-800 NUMBER AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THEM AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO GIVE THE COMPLAINT NUMBER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TELL THEM TO CALL DODGE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP. NOT SURE IF THEY CALLED OR NOT. GARBER DODGE TOLD ME THEY SERVICED THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED SOME GASKETS THAT FAILED CAUSING AIR TO BE SUCKED INTO THE SYSTEM AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO FAIL, BUT THEY WEREN'T SURE IF IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT. MY CO-WORKERS DEALERSHIP FOUND SOME LOOSE WIRING GOING TO THE MAIN COMPUTER WHICH THEY ADJUSTED AND TOLD HIM THIS MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 20 APR 2006 THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN TO MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE VERY NEXT MORNING. GARBER DODGE KEPT THE VEHICLE THAT DAY AND PART OF THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE NEXT DAY WE WERE GIVEN THE VEHICLE BACK AND TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ADVISED US IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO JUST BRING IT BACK IN AND THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT AGAIN. I HAVE ALREADY FILED A SECOND COMPLAINT WITH DODGE, THIS TIME DOING IT THROUGH THEIR EMAIL CONTACT PORTION. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM THAT IT SEEMS DODGE AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT TOO CONCERNED WITH. *JB
COMING TO QUICK STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO STALLED. IT RESTARTED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, A FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASH PANEL AREA. ALTHOUGH THE OCCUPANTS WERE NOT PRESENT WHEN THE FIRE BEGAN, A BYSTANDER NOTICED A FIRE AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE INSIDE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND DASH PANEL AREA. AN INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR DETERMINED THERE WAS A REDUNDANT CAPACITOR ON THE PC BOARD OF THE DASH PANEL AREA. UPDATED 5/10/2006 - *NM
MY 2005 HEMI DURANGO HAS STALLED ON THREE OCCASIONS RECENTLY. TWICE WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, AND ANOTHER TIME WHEN I WAS COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN. *NM
05 DURANGO WITH 5.7 HEMI STALLS WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES WHEN BACKING UP SOMETIMES WHEN COMING TO STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, OR SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING ON ROADS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THIS IS THE WORST SCENARIO BECAUSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ALSO GO. HAS NOT CAUSED ACCIDENT FOR US YET, BUT CAM CLOSE WHEN MY FIANCEE WAS DRIVING. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM AND HAS TRIED TO FIX AND HAS GIVEN ME EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK. FINALLY HAS DECIDED TO REPLACE CAR BUT WITH HEFTY MILEAGE CHARGE. I WILL FIGHT THEM ON THAT BUT I WANTED YOU TO BE AWARE THAT ALL OF THEIR SO CALLED SERVICE BULLETINS DO NOT FIX PROBLEM. ONE EXCUSE I GOT IS THAT THE EPA WON'T LET THEM FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WILL EFFECT THE EMISSIONS OUTPUT. I REALIZE THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF VEHICLES BUT IT WILL ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THE ENGINE STALLING. *TR
PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN/LIGHT OR TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT/SIDE STREET, THE VEHICLE'S POWER DIES AND ENGINE STOPS. I HAVE TO ROLL TO GET OUT OF THE WAY WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, TURN ON MY HAZARDS SO OTHER CARS CAN GO AROUND ME AND KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG, AND TRY AND GET OUT OF WAY. THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS, THE CAR JUST DIES. IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART BEFORE CAR STARTS UP AGAIN. THE PROBLEM STARTED VERY QUICKLY AFTER CAR WAS BOUGHT AND HAPPENED 4 TIMES. I BROUGHT IT INTO DEALER AND THEY "REFLASHED" THE COMPUTER. IT HAS BEEN OK FOR A WHILE, BUT A FEW WEEKS AGO IT DIED ONCE AGAIN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, AT 3,000 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ALERTED OF BRAKE DUST ON THE WHEELS. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AT 12,000 MILES, AND THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE BRAKES ARE 50 PERCENT WORN AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT 19,000 MILES.
DIES ON DECELERATION MOSTLY WHILE TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. PLASTIC MOLDING THAT GOES AROUND THE SEAT BELT ON THE LEFT LOWER SIDE. PART KEEPS COMING OFF. FELL OFF A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE DURANGO. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THE ENTIRE PART THAT WRAPS AROUND HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2 WEEKS AFTER HAVING THIS REPAIRED, IT CAME OFF AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME, IT FELL OFF ON THE ROAD WHEN DRIVER EXITED THE DURANGO. WE DID NOT REALIZE IT HAD COME OFF AND IT GOT RAN OVER BY ANOTHER DRIVER. WE BOUGHT THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO IN JUNE 2005. IT WORKED GREAT UNTIL ABOUT OCTOBER WHEN IT BEGAN TO STALL OUT. THIS WOULD USUALLY HAPPEN RIGHT AFTER STARTING THE CAR. THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY THREE CHILDREN, ALL UNDER FIVE, GOING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN EVERYTHING IN THE CAR SHUT OFF. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, I HAD NO BRAKES, NO ELECTRICAL, NOTHING. THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT OFF. I HAD NO CONTROL OF ANYTHING. I WENT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THOSE LANES. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I WAS ONLY A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME SO I TRIED TO DRIVE BACK HOME. CAR STALLED AGAIN A FEW MINUTES LATER. I PARKED IT. IT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION AND FLASHED THE COMPUTER. THE DAY THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME IT HAPPENED AGAIN. RIGHT AWAY IT WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD IT EVER SINCE. IT'S BEEN SEVEN DAYS AND NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL. I AM HESITANT TO TAKE THIS CAR BACK OR BE PUTTING MY CHILDREN IN IT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN APRIL OF 2005 STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEMS. STILL THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IN JULY OF 2005 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, AFTER DIAGNOSTICS TEST THE PROBLEM WAS STILL UNDETERMINED. IN DECEMBER THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN #05V460000 CONCERNING THE POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IN DECEMBER 2005 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE IS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.

THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES WITHIN A TWO WEEK PERIOD BEFORE I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THE COMPUTER DID NOT PICK UP ANY ERRORS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEN AFTER IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES I TOOK IT STRAIGHT THERE AGAIN AND THEY FOUND A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED IT. SO I THOUGHT UNTIL NOW. LAST WEEK IT STARTED AGAIN...1 TIME WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO GETTING HIT AND NOW I HAVE A 3 MONTH OLD BABY RIDING IN THE CAR TO WORRY ABOUT ALSO. SO, I THOUGHT GREAT HERE WE GO AGAIN. I WAITED FOR IT TO HAPPEN ONCE MORE BEFORE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A FEW DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN IN TOWN. AGAIN, THEY ARE SAYING THERE ARE NO ERRORS IN THE COMPUTER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR THAT IT IS EVEN "REALLY" HAPPENING! SO IN OTHER WORDS I AM MAKING THIS UP! THIS TIME I WAS NOT TAKING MY CAR BACK UNTIL I COULD BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. IT TOOK ME AN HOUR OF GOING ROUND AND ROUND WITH THEM BEFORE THEY BROKE DOWN AND GAVE ME A RENTAL. THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS TEST IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND TRY TO GET IT TO HAPPEN WHILE HE IS DRIVING IT. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, I ENTERED THE VEHICLE PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE TACHOMETER JUMPED TO ALMOST 2000 RPMS AND VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS THEN STOPPED. THE SECOND INSTANCE WAS ON MARCH 28TH 2006 MY WIFE WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE FACING A STORE AND REPORTED STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD JUMPING THE CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK WITH ALL 4 WHEELS, HITTING THE BUILDING THEN STOPPING. I BELIEVE THIS REALLY IS A PROBLEM AS I NOW REALIZE THAT DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE BRAKE DEPRESSED TO MOVE THE GEAR LEVER FROM PARK TO REVERSE. 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT 4X4 TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW WITH APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES ON IT. WE TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS WE WERE IN DISCUSSING FINANCING. IT WAS BROUGHT OUT TO US TO TAKE HOME AND THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE CHECKED AGAIN. ONE HOUR LATER IT WAS BROUGHT BACK OUT AND THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO EXACTLY DUPLICATE THE SPEED THAT CAUSED THE WARNING LIGHT TO GO ON AND MAINTAIN THAT EXACT SPEED FOR 15 TO 20 MILES FOR THE SYSTEM TO RESET AND THE LIGHT TO GO OFF. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IF YOU ASK ME. WE NOW HAVE 800 MILES ON THE DURANGO AND THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT IS STILL ON. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE IN THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR. THE NOISE IS PARTICULARLY PRONOUNCED WHEN DRIVING IN A MODERATE HEAD OR CROSS WIND. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN A MODERATE HEAD OR CROSS WIND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CARRY ON A NORMAL CONVERSATION WITHIN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE MAGNITUDE OF THE WIND NOISE. THE WIND NOISE SEEMS TO BE ORIGINATING PRIMARILY FROM THE FRONT DOOR SEALS. BOTH OF THE FRONT DOORS CAN BE SEEN FLEXING WHEN DRIVING WITH A HEAD OR CROSS WIND. THE NOISE CAN BE LESSENED BY PULLING IN WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE ON THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF WIND NOISE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN ANY VEHICLE I HAVE DRIVEN AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR NEARLY 25 YEARS. IN THE ABSENCE OF A HEAD OR CROSS WIND OR AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE HAS A VERY QUITE INTERIOR. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE WITHOUT RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AS OF YET. *JB

THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE POLICE WERE NOT INVOLVED SINCE THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED NEAR THE RESIDENCE ON A COUNTRY ROAD. DAIMLER CHRYSLER DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, CLAIMING THAT THEIR INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE THRESHOLD FOR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WAS NOT MET. THE IMPACT WAS ABSORBED BY THE VEHICLE'S CRUSH POINTS. ALSO, DURING ELECTRONIC TESTING NO FAULT CODES APPEARED THAT WOULD HAVE INDICATED ANY MALFUNCTION AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. *AK

ALTHOUGH, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS WERE WEARING SAFETY RESTRAINTS, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MASSIVE INJURIES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED 13 SKULL FRACTURES AND BROKEN RIBS. THE POLICE FILED A REPORT AT THE SCENE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED IT TOTALED.
