2005 DODGE DURANGO 5.7 L HEMI STALLS WHILE DRIVING. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 40 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST BRAKE POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO GAIN MOMENTUM, IT WAS GOING UP A HILL AND THE ROADS WERE WET. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF DID NOT AFFECT THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES CAME BACK BY THEMSELVES. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS GOING 20 MPH, AND THE CONTACT PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES, NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE TIRES BEGAN TO SPIN SUDDENLY ,AND THE SPEEDOMETER READ 60 MPH, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND THE COMPUTER DID NOT DISPLAY ANY CODES.*AK
THE ENGINE HAS QUIT TWICE NOW WHILE ACCELERATING AWAY FROM A STOP. ONCE THE ENGINE STALLS, IT CANNOT BE RE-STARTED. IN FACT, THE ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED IN NOVEMBER OF 2005, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PCM WAS RE-PROGRAMMED. NOW DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT, THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE FILLED THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL WOULD SPIT BACK OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS BUT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LABOR COSTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,212.
2005 DODGE DURANGO STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. *TS ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED*** THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. ALMOST A MONTH ALTER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE REPLACED THE MAIN COMPUTER. EVEN AFTER THAT PART WAS REPLACED THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL, HAVE DIFFICULTY STARTING, ROUGH IDLE AND WAS SLOW AT TAKE OFF. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FOR FOUR YEARS WHILE ADDING GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK IT SPILLED BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
SUV STALLS WITH I MAKE A TURN OR JUST SLOW DOWN. I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE MAKING A TURN BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND THE DODGE PEOPLE AND COULD NOT FIX IT. THEN THEY GAVE ME A COMPUTER THAT WOULD COLLECT DATA ABOUT THE CAR WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED. I DROVE WITH THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEY DID NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD HELP THEM FIX THE CAR. THEN THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN FOR A LONG TIME. BUT IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES AFTER THEY DID THAT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES AND NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH. THE WAS A PRIOR INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE FAILURE, BUT IT HAS BEEN CLOSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,467 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER 3 TIMES. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH SHE ROLLED DOWN THE REAR WINDOWS AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE VIBRATION WAS SO SEVERE THAT THERE WAS A GAP BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE FRAME. THE DEALER INDICATED THE VIBRATION WAS NORMAL AND REFERRED TO IT AS THE TUNNEL EFFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS IN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEALER AND OFFERED NO SOLUTION. *AK
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH THE 5.7 LITER HEMI ENGINE HAS STALLED (ENGINE DIED) ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. IN EVERY CASE I WAS COMING TO A STOP OR TURNING. *NM
2005 DODGE DURANGO (HEMI) MY DODGE HAS RANDOMLY CUT OFF ON ME DURING LOW SPEEDS OR TURNING INTO CERTAIN AREAS. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO ME AND ONCE TO MY WIFE. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO TAKING OUT MY MAIL BOX LAST NIGHT. MY STEERING WHEEL EVEN LOCKED UP. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER COME UP AT THEIR DEALER. VERY ODD. I LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY FAMILIES WELL BEING. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I PAID WAY TO MUCH MONEY TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS KIND OF STUFF. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. HE STATED THAT THE DUST COVER FOR THE SEAT BELT POPPED OFF WHICH CAUSED DUST TO GATHER BETWEEN THE SEAT BELTS. HE FELT THAT OVER TIME DUST WOULD ACCUMULATE AND PREVENT THE SEAT BELTS FROM OPERATING CORRECTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

DT: CONTACT STATES THE SUN ROOF LEAKED WATER INTO THE FUSE BOX AND SHORTED OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SUNROOF BUT IT LEAKED AGAIN. THE NEXT TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE SUNROOF GASKET. 2005 DODGE DURANGO LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING CONTROL WITH LOW SPEED MOUNTAIN DRIVING. THIS WAS A RENTAL SUV IN AWD. I AM AN EXPERIENCED WINTER DRIVER WITH 35+ YEARS OF NO ACCIDENTS. DAY ONE...NO PROBLEMS. DAY TWO...REMOTE DRIVING ON TWO LANE PLOWED CENTERED ROAD...ALMOST HIT TWO ELK ON THE ROAD IN THE DARKNESS. DAY THREE...ABOUT 1 INCH OF NEW SNOW WITH NO APPARENT TRACTION/CONTROL PROBLEMS (CHECKED HARD BRAKING/SKIDDING ON THE ROAD WITHOUT PROBLEMS). THE ROAD HAD NOT BEEN TRAVELED THAT MORNING. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH LOOKING FOR ELK ON THE LONG GRADUAL DOWNHILL (NEARLY FLAT), WITH RIGHT TURN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL TO ENTER THE TURN, THE VEHICLE WENT STRAIGHT (NO LOAD ON THE FRONT WHEELS). TRIED BRAKING WITHOUT SENSATION OF ABS PULSING AND NO CHANGE TO TRAJECTORY. WE WERE HEADING STRAIGHT INTO A GUARDRAIL WITH A STEEP EMBANKMENT/CLIFF. TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT STOP AND GAVE IT SOME GAS. THE DURANGO BEGAN TO CHANGE HEADING AND SLID ALONG THE GUARDRAIL INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH IT AND OVER THE CLIFF. THE RENTAL AGENT TOLD ME ABOUT ANOTHER 2005 DURANGO WITH 4 (EXECUTIVES) MEN THAT DROVE THROUGH A GUARDRAIL AND DOWN A 60' CLIFF IN MARCH 2005. ORIGINALLY, THE AGENT THOUGHT IT WAS SPEED RELATED, BUT THEN BEGAN TO WONDER AFTER MY INCIDENT. THE THING THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IS THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT I HAD LOST CONTROL IN A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE...THERE WAS NO STABILITY/CONTROL FEEDBACK TO THE DRIVER. IF THE ROAD WAS ICY UNDER THE SNOW, THERE WAS NO SENSATION OF IT TO THE DRIVER. IF IT WAS ENTIRELY THE ROAD, WOULDN'T YOU EXPECT OTHERS TO FOLLOW YOU INTO/THROUGH THE GUARDRAILS? I SEE A TREND...AT LEAST TWO 2005 DURANGO'S IN ONE YEAR DRIVING DOWNHILL ON TWO LANE SNOW COVERED ROADS LOSING CONTROL AND GOING STRAIGHT INTO GUARDRAILS WITHOUT WARNING. I SUSPECT A LATENT STABILITY AND CONTROL PROBLEM IN DURANGOS. *JB
DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING, STOPPING OR PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE STALLING OCCURS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO READ THE INFORMATION FROM THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. A CO-PILOT WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER STILL COULD NOT RETRIEVE THE INFORMATION. *JB
2005 DODGE DURANGO ENGINE STALLED. *TS *REF 10156266 DURING A SHARP RIGHT TURN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INSTALLED A SOFTWARE PATCH BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INSTALLED A FRONT POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND SOME SECONDARY UNIT WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THREE DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT.
2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH 5.7 HEMI STALLED AT LOW SPEED ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR (6000K MILES). TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION FROM NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. DEALER DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM NOR FIND ANY FAULT CODES FOR THE FAILURE. THEY DID RESET ALL ADAPTIVE MEMORY AND MODULES AND REPORTED THE IDLE IS AT A HIGHER SETTING THAN BEFORE. WILL WAIT AND SEE IF THIS TRULY FIXES THE PROBLEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD ON11/21/05 DURING A RAIN STORM THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THJEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE, AND FINALLY ALL THE WARNING LIGHT WERE ON. THEY WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE CAR DID NOT STALL. AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE DOWN AND RESTARTING A FEW TIMES ALL WENT OUT EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE. IT WENT OUT A DAY LATER. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V460000 CONCERNING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL, BUT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT HIS OWN EXPENSE.*AK
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHICH I PURCHASED 9/10/05. IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 2000 MILES ON IT NOW. I WAS TURNING INTO MY PARKING LOT AT WORK, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY STEERING COLUMN LOCKED UP! I WAS JUST SITTING AT THE CURB TRYING TO PUT IT IN REVERSE, OR CONTINUE GOING FORWARD, AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY GEAR I PUT IT IN TO. I TURNED MY ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED IT AND IT "MAGICALLY" STARTED BACK UP AND WORKED. I IMMEDIATELY PARKED IT AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. TO MY DISMAY, THEY STATED THEY'D NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I SUGGESTED REPLACING THE PCM. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT SINCE IT "APPEARED" TO BE WORKING FINE. I'M VERY CONCERED ABOUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I'M SCARED TO EVEN CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE WHO KNOWS WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN! *NM
I HAVE A DODGE DURANGO 2005 WITH A HEMI 5.7L ENGINE. I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH IT STALLING WHEN I MAKE A SLOW TURN. IT HAS ONLY 2450 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN IT STALLS, I LOOSE POWER STEERING AND IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES. *JB

PREMATURE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT FAILURE. THE JOINT FELL APART WHEN THE CAR WAS MOVING BETWEEN 15 AND 30 MPH. THE FAILURE CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHEN THE CAR LANDED ON THE WHEEL AFTER IT CAME LOOSE. THE REPAIR TOOK OVER TWO MONTHS TO COMPLETE AND CHRYSLER REJECTED ALL WARRANTY CLAIMS. SOME OLD PARTS STILL EXIST. *TR
PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNS OFF WITHOUT ANYONE IN SEAT, OR WITH SOMEONE IN SEAT WHO EXCEEDS WEIGHT LIMIT.. NOT ALL THE TIME,BUT SPORADICALLY. HAVE HAD IT INTO DODGE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, EVEN HAD A DODGE/CHRYSLER SPECIALIST FLY IN TO REPAIR. STILL NOT REPAIRED. *TR

THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF PARK, AND THIS IN TURN, INJURED ANOTHER OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE.*AK UPDATED 03/03/06.
BOUGHT 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT ON 10/21/05. ON 10/25/05 IT IDLED DOWN AND CUT OFF BUT NO SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. I HAVE CALLED OR BEEN TO THE DEALER 46 TIMES FROM 10/05 -11/06. NO PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON SO THEY STATED THEY COULDN'T FIX IT, BUT THE DURANGO WILL IDLE DOWN AND CUT OFF IN PARK OR AT LOW SPEEDS. OCTOBER 2006 DEALER CHANGED THE CLUSTER AND PROBLEM STOPPED FOR A WEEK. THEN STARTED AGAIN EITHER AT IDLE OR IN PARK. 12/06 I TOOK BACK DUE TO IT STARTED TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. BUT STILL NO PANEL LIGHTS AND NOTHING SHOWING ON COMPUTER. IN JANUARY 2007 WAS DRIVING AND CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF CROSSING TRAFFIC AND ANOTHER CAR HAD TO SWERVE AROUND TOOK BACK TO DEALER. THE DEALER ADDED 1 QT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND PROBLEM STOPPED FOR 3 DAYS. THEN IDLE DOWN AND CUTTING OFF AGAIN. THEN DID A TRANSMISSION FLUSH DUE TO TECHNICAL SUPPORT RECOMMENDATIONS. DROVE FOR 4 DAYS AND IT CUT OFF WHEN TURNING AND LOST POWER HAD TO SLAM BRAKES TO MISS A POLE. NEXT DAY DRIVING DOWN RD AND CUT OFF HAD TO HIT BRAKES TO STAY OUT OF THE DITCH BECAUSE I WAS ON A CURVE. I HAVE CHILDREN AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. FIRST INCIDENT DATE WAS 10/25/05-PRESENT(1/21/07) *JB
MY CAR STALLS AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND I LOSE ALL ABILITY TO STEER AND HAS COME VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM BUT IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS AND LEFT NO CODES. THE DEALERSHIP JUST SAYS NO CODES NO ANSWER. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2005 DODGE DURANGO IN JUNE 2005. THE FIRST 9000 MILES WERE GREAT. NO PROBLEMS. IN OCTOBER 2005 THE HEADLIGHTS/FOG LIGHTS STARTED TO GO ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES. THE DEALERSHIP MOVED THE INSPECTIONS STICKER. DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY THEN REPLACED THE SENSORS AND SWITCHED, DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THEY THEN REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD, DID NOT CORRECT. THEY THEN HAD A TECH FROM THE FACTORY LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE MODULE. I PICKED UP THE CAR YESTERDAY AND ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THE LIGHTS WENT ON AND OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SENT THE LEMON LAW CARD TO CHRYSLER. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AGAIN TODAY ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY BASICALLY HAVE STATED THAT IT IS UP TO THE DISTRICT MANAGER TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I AM WAITING ONCE AGAIN FOR HIM TO CALL ME BACK. THE HORN ALSO BLOWS BY ITSELF (THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE), THE RADIO HAS TURNED ITSELF ON AND OFF BY ITSELF TWICE, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS CAME ON WHEN IT SHOULD NOT AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG SHOWED THAT IT HAD DEPLOYED WHEN IN FACT IT DID NOT. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ON THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE DID NOT WORK CORRECTLY (ONLY ONE TIME.) I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN MORE THEN PATIENT WITH THESE RECURRING PROBLEMS. THEY HAVE PUT A CO-PILOT ON THE CAR TO NO AVAIL.*JB
MY FIRM REPRESENTS SEVERAL PASSENGERS AND THE PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ESTATES OF TWO DECEDENT WHO WERE KILLED WHEN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO LOST STEERING CONTROL ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE. THE VEHICLE IS A RENTAL VEHICLE FROM DOLLAR RENTAL CAR. IT MAY BE A CASE WHERE THE BOLTS IN THE STEERING WERE MISSING, BUT IS YET TO BE DETERMINED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON 24/7 THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP , IN THE SHOP 15 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE FIX IT THEY TELL ME THAT IT'S AN EMISSION PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY JUST CAN'T MEET THE EMISSION REQUIREMENTS ON MY TRUCK AND A LOT OF OTHERS . THEY SENT ME AWAY AND SAID THE LIGHT BEING ON WILL NOT STOP THE TRUCK FROM RUNNING,AND THAT WHEN THEY FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY WILL CALL ME SO AM I JUST SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL THE LIGHT BURNS OUT ? PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MARCH 2005, AND WITHIN THE FIRST TWO DAYS VEHICLE ENGINE STALLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, INITIALLY ADVISED TEST DROVE AND UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AGAIN AT A LATER DATE, RESET MEMORY. PROBLEM STILL RECURRED, BACK TO DEALER AND DEALER REFLASHED PCM. ADDITIONALLY, TOOK TO DEALER ACCELERATOR ASSEMBLY LOOSE AND BOLT FELL OUT WHILE DRIVING. ACCELERATOR VERY LOOSE, PART NOT AVAILABLE FOR 3 DAYS, CONCERNED THAT MAY BE AN ONGOING SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. *NM
VEHICLE STALLED AT A STOP. NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AT STALL. SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AFTER FIRST INCIDENT. DEALER STATED THAT THEY CLEARED FAULT CODES AND DROVE FOR FIFTEEN MILES WITH NO PROBLEM FIRST TIME. I AM TAKING BACK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER NOW. *JB
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO PRE-SCHOOL, AND SHE WAS CROSSING AND TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. SUDDENLY, WITH NO WARNING, THE ENGINE QUIT, LEAVING HER WITH NO BRAKES AND NO STEERING. LUCKILY, SHE DRIFTED TO THE CURB, BUT IF THE TRAFFIC HAD BEEN HEAVY, SHE AND THE BABY COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY INJURED OR KILLED. I EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ONE DAY LATER. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY DEALER, THE DODGE DEALER IN BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON, AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY, SINCE THEY SAID THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST FIFTY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH DODGE HEMI ENGINES. THEY FIXED IT BY FLASHING THE CHIP IN THE COMPUTER. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM, AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ANNOUNCED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *NM

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000- FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE HAD BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ON 9/9/05 MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH 5.7 HEMI ENGINE SHUT ITSELF DOWN. AFTER GETTING IT STARTED AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. TOOK TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT WRITE ON THE SERVICE ORDER THAT THE CAR STALLED AS I TOLD THEM. DEALER FOUND NO PROBLEM, AND GAVE ME A SHEET STATING THAT COMPUTERS SOMETIMES HAVE HICKUPS. WHILE AT THE DEALER, I MET OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM ON THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINES. THIS MOTOR APPARENTLY HAS A DEFECT.*JB

VEHICLE WAS IN GEAR AND EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR ALREADY STOPPED. THE ENGINE RPM'S DROPPED BELOW 500 AND THEN RECOVERED VERY BRIEFLY (~1 SECOND) BEFORE STALLING. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH DURING THE DROP/RECOVERY PHASE BEFORE STALLING. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED 5 TIMES WITHIN A 1 HOUR PERIOD. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO STALLED. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE TRUCK STALLED. THE CONSUMER SAID THAT THE ENGINE WAS JUST SHUTTING OFF. THE SPEED THAT THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING WAS AROUND 15-25 MPH. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN THE REPAIR SHOP, AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK AS OF NOW. THE DEALER CHANGED AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. THE CONSUMER DID NOT THINK THAT THE SOFTWARE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TRUCK. DAMILER/CHRYSLER WAS CALLED, AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE CONSUMER CONTACT THEIR DEALER. THIS FAILURE SEEMED TO BE INTERMITTENT. WITHOUT WARNING, VEHICLE STALLED WITH TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, STEERING, BRAKES, LIGHTING, ETC... WAS ABLE TO PUT IN PARK AND RE-START VEHICLE. OCCURRED TWICE WITH A 5 WEEK PERIOD; ONCE ON A WARM SUNNY DAY WHILE MAKING 3 POINT TURN AND AGAIN ON RAINY DAY WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH THAT I WAS ABLE TO AVOID ONCOMING VEHICLES. THUS FAR THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE HOWEVER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND ADJUSTED THE IDLE. TOMORROW THEY WILL REPLACE AN O RING IN THE TRANSMISSION. I AM CONCERNED THAT ALTHOUGH I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION SO FAR, I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY AS TREACHEROUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS APPROACH. NOTE: I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON VARIOUS INTERNET FORUMS AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DURANGO AND THE RAM 1500 WITH HEMI ENGINES AND IN ALL CASES THE MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE. *NM

MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS AN ENGINE STALLING PROBLEM. IT CURRENTLY HAS 13000 MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN DEC. SINCE THEN IT HAS STALLED ON US ABOUT 6 TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN DRIVE AND IN REVERSE. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. DT: THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE ON AUGUST 3, 2005. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WAS STUCK, AND THAT WAS THE ONLY INDICATION THERE WAS A PROBLEM. SHE HAS TO TAKE FOOT AND SLAM IT TO THE FLOOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR BOTH PROBLEMS MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE EITHER PROBLEM.
