WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK FUEL SPITS OUT EVERYWHERE RESULTING IN A FIRE HAZARD AND PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUES FOR THE PERSON FUELING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAD BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY. I CONTACTED THE FAMILY OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO STATED THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM.
MY SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY SUV AND MY CAR STARTED JERKING UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE IN TRAFFIC, AS IF IT WERE CHANGING OR SHIFTING GEARS, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO DODGE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT CONTROL MODULE FOR C1404, NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT THE PART ALONE WOULD COST $1200.00. I AM READING MANY ARTICLES ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE 4WD IN THIS MAKE, MODEL, OF VEHICLE AND WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS AND IF NOT THERE SHOULD BE, BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE (IF NOT ALREADY)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN EMISSIONS LEAK AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MT. EPHRAIM CHRYSLER DODGE RAM (620 N BLACK HORSE PIKE, MT EPHRAIM, NJ 08059 (856) 931-2000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A VERY SMALL EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW O-RING, LOCK RING, AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED TWICE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,680.
WHILE DRIVING THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE KICKS IN AND OUT WITHOUT MOVING SWITCH TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE
WAS DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT AND HEARD A HUGE CLUNK AS IF I HIT A POT HOLE THEN THE CAR BECAME VERY SLUGGISH AS IF SOMETHING WAS SLOWING IT DOWN. I THOUGHT MAYBE I BLEW A TIRE SO I GOT OUT AND LOOKED BUT THE TIRES WERE FINE. I THEN BACKED INTO THE PARKING SPOT THEN DROVE FORWARD A LITTLE AND IT SEEMED FINE. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, THEN HEARD LIKE AN AIR COMPRESSOR NOISE LETTING OUT AIR. IT STOPPED AFTER A FEW SECONDS. WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE STORE IT DROVE FINE BUT THE SVC 4WD LIGHT CAME ON, THEN BACK OFF. WHEN I AM TRAVELLING AT LOWER RATES OF SPEED THE LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON AND OFF AND I HAVEN'T HEARD THE CLUNK AGAIN BUT JUST NOW AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT AGAIN AT A SLOW SPEED THE CAR CAME ALMOST COMPLETELY TO A STOP.
THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A NON INJURY ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE INITIAL CAUSE OF THE CRASH WAS DETERMINED TO BE POOR ROAD CONDITIONS. THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING ON A GRAVEL ROAD AFTER A RAIN AND HEAVY TRAFFIC. DRIVER ENTERED A SOUPY SPOT IN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO TURN SIDEWAYS. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN FROM THE INITIAL VEHICLE SPEED OF AROUND 25 MPH. VEHICLE THEN LEFT THE ROADWAY, DOWN A STEEP DITCH AND THROUGH A FENCE CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND THE FENCE. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE UPRIGHT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED FROM THE AREA, IT WAS STILL DRIVEABLE, BUT THERE WAS VERY LITTLE VEHICLE BRAKING. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE DAMAGE FOR THE ACCIDENT REPORT, INSPECTOR FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE VEHICLE BELOW THE MASTER CYLINDER AREA OF THE VEHICLE. UPON OPENING THE HOOD, INSPECTOR NOTED BRAKE FLUID SPRAYED ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FOUND THE REAR PRIMARY BRAKE LINE AND THE FRONT PRIMARY BRAKE LINE WERE ROUTED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE TWO STAINLESS STEEL JACKETED LINES WERE RUBBING ON EACH OTHER AND THE REAR LINE HAD RUPTURED, THUS LOSING BRAKING ABILITY. THIS IS THE LINE THAT GOES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. OWNER OF THE VEHICLE HAS OWNED IT SINCE 2006 AND NO BRAKE WORK OR MODIFICATIONS TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAVE BEEN PERFORMED WHILE CURRENT OWNER HAS POSSESSED VEHICLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN INSTALLATION ERROR FROM INITIAL PRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND RESUMED DRIVING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED QUIRK CHRYSLER JEEP RAM OF BANGOR (307 HOGAN RD, BANGOR, ME 04401, PHONE NUMBER: (207) 945-9458) AND WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT DODGE CUSTOMER CARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,141.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WENT IN AND OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
TAKATA RECALL...........DODGE STILL HASN'T REPLACED THE AFFECTED AIR BAG
4 WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGES BY ITS SELF. SRV4WD LIGHT COMES ON, AND IT CLICKS WHEN CAR ISN'T RUNNING. AND WHEN IT IS RUNNING, GOING SLOW IN THE CITY OR GOING 75 DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITUATION WITH THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO.
EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK, FUEL BURPS BACK OUT AND SPILLS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE SUV AND ON THE GROUND. I CALLED DODGE, AND THEY SAID THE RECALL FOR THIS WAS ALREADY PERFORMED, AND THAT REPAIRING IT WILL COST ME AROUND $900! IF A RECALL, HAS BEEN FIXED, AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, THEN THE RECALL SHOULD BE RE-PERFORMED!
"TAKATA RECALL" I TOOK THE DURANGO TO ORANGE COAST DODGE IN COSTA MESA TO FIX THE RECALL. THEY INSERTED A DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE THAT SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS OFF LINE. NO WARNING LIGHT WAS SHOWING ON THE DASH. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM INDICATORS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN GO OFF. THE DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS NOT INITIALIZED AND THAT THE WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COMPUTER CANNOT CONNECT TO THE SYSTEM. HE SAID ITS AS IF THE SYSTEM IS NOT INSTALLED. THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE SAID THAT HE'S SEEN THIS BEFORE AND DOESN'T KNOW FOR SURE HOW IT HAPPENS - MAYBE A VOLTAGE SPIKE OR BATTERY ISSUE. THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL, INITIALIZED THE SYSTEM, TESTED AND SAY EVERYTHING WORKS. COST ME $155. HOW WILL I KNOW FOR SURE THAT MY AIRBAGS ARE ONLINE IF THE INDICATORS DON'T SHOW ME? I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION IN THE VEHICLE IN 2015 AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY - SEE ATTACHED PHOTO. AFTER THE COLLISION THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR WAS STUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH IS IN AWD POSITION. AT NO TIME HAVE I SEEN ANY INDICATOR ON THE DASH THAT SHOWS THE AIR BAGS OR RESTRAINT SYSTEM NOT WORKING.
STARTED WITH THE SER 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITLY ..THEN PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW INTERMITLY STOPS WORKING ..NEXT THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR SWITCHES ALL BY ITS SELF INTO 4 WHEEL LOCK AND 4 WHEEL LO WITH NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH..WHEN ITS IN 4 WHEEL LOCK ITS VERY HARD TO DRIVE AND TURNING ALMOST IMPOSABLE THIS CREATES A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN YOUR DRIVING WHEN ITS IN LOCK YOU CAN BARELY GET OUT OF A PARKING SPOT OR GET TURNED AROUND EVEN MORE SCARY ON THE ROAD WHEN IT SHIFTS ALL BY ITS SELF ..MANY TIMES NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH TO TELL YOU IT HAS CHANGED ...OTHER TIME WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE 4 LOCK OF 4 LO LIGHTS COME ON ..VERY DANGEROUS ...SOMETIME THE KEY FOB ALSO MAKES THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR CHANGE WHEN THE TRUCK IS NOT EVEN RUNNING
UPON FILLING THE GAS TANK SINCE THE FIRST TIME ON JUNE 15, 2017, AND EVERY TIME SINCE THEN, THE FUEL ALWAYS SPITS BACK, AND ALL OVER THE PLACE, INCLUDING ON THE GAS ATTENDANT, UPON ANY ONE WALKING BY, ON THE CAR, AND OF COURSE, ON THE GROUND. IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE (FUEL FILLER TUBE), BUT THE DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE REMAINS. I HAVE READ THAT 20,000 DURANGOS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FROM 2005 FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT FOR REASONS UNKNOWN, EVEN THOUGH MY 2005 DURANGO ALSO HAS THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM, I AM TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT MY 2005 DURANGO HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. IF FOR SOME REASON IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED, IT OBVIOUSLY SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT HAS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THAT THE OTHER 2005 DURANGOS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR. SO WHY NOT MINE?
WHEN TURNING AND DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, WHEELS LOCK UP LIKE BRAKES ARE ON, NOT LETTING CAR MOVE. HAS ON OCCASION WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 40 TO 55, TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO INTO OVERDRIVE. OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS I'VE READ, I WISH DODGE WOULD ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT THIS TO LOCK UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THANK YOU
I VEHICLE LIKES TO TURN ITS 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON WHILE I AM MAKING TURNS. ALSO WHEN IT IS PARKED YOU CAN HEAR THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM MAKING CLICKING NOISES. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS NOT IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE READ THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. I SEE THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND IT DOES NOT. SOME PEOPLE HAVE STATED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR ROAD IT HAS KICKED IN AND CAUSED TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, SOME SERIOUS AND SOME MINORS. WHEN WILL THIS PROBLEM BE ADDRESSES? WILL IT TAKE SOMEONE DYING TO GET AN INVESTIGATION STARTED? I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND THANK GOD, NOTHING HAS HAPPEN TO ME OR MY FAMILY WHEN THIS ISSUES HAPPENS.
I BOUGHT THIS DURANGO USED. I LOOKED UP RECALLS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT TO MAKE SURE NOTHING REALLY BAD WAS AN ISSUE. 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT IT STARTED SHIFTING INTO 4 HIGH AND 4 LOW BY ITSELF, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT SHIFT INTO 4 LOW WHILE I WAS AT HIGH SPEEDS, BUT IT DID IT ONCE WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 10 MPH AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT VERY EASILY SINCE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, PLAY WITH THE SHIFT KNOB TO GET IT BACK INTO AWD. AFTER THAT I WENT HOME. WHEN IT IS PARKED AND OFF, YOU CAN HEAR THE TRANFER CASE ACTUATOR SHIFTING INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN AND OUT ON ITS OWN. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND UNPLUGGED THE ACTUATOR UNTIL I CAN GET THIS RESOLVED SO THAT I CAN SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF REPORTS JUST LIKE MINE. IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS UNLESS THE ACTUATOR IS UNPLUGGED SO THAT IT CANNOT SHIFT. THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. SOME OF THE REPORTS I READ, THE OWNER HAS SPENT THOUSANDS, AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS! THAT IS WHY I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN BY REPLACING ANY PARTS.
AFTER FUELING, WHEN TANK IS FULL, IT WILL BEGIN DUMPING (SPITTING) FUEL FROM GAS FILLER TUBE. VEHILE IS TURNED OFF AND STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURS. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY FILL UP.
FOR NO REASON THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH OR ANYTHING, SHUTS OFF AND NO STEERING. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT, NO WARNING SIGNS. ACTS FINE, BOTH TIMES DURING CITY STREET DRIVING.
TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THIS RECALL FIXED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS REPAIRED. THEN I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY HAD THE PARTS. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED AND MOVED BUT STILL HAVE THE SAME NUMBER. NOW I RECEIVE ALL THIS INFORMATION ABOUT THE DANGER AND THIS VEHICLE IS MY WIFE AND CHILDREN'S PRIMARY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. I FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO. ALSO DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME OF THIS RECALL, MY ELECTRONICS ON THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACTING ERRATICALLY. THEY STILL DO OCCASIONALLY BUT WE HAVE TO DRIVE IT NONETHELESS. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL GO DEAD WITH NO LIGHTS OR GAUGES WORKING, THE A.C. WILL BLOW HEAT ONLY OR STOP, THE ALARM GOES OFF ON ITS ON, ETC. ALL THIS WHILE IT IS STILL RUNNING AND DRIVABLE BUT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW FAST! RIGHT NOW IT'S ACTING SOMEWHAT NORMAL. I REALLY FEEL I WAS WRONGED IN BUYING THIS VEHICLE! THE DATE I LISTED WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THAT UP TO LAST MONTH.
A RECALL THAT SUPPOSEDLY HAPPENED BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IS SHOWING THE SYMPTOMS OF WHY IT WAS RECALLED TO BEGIN WITH. THE RECALL #E01, NHTSA #05V-034 WHICH INVOLVES THE FUEL FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE. EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO PUT GAS IN MY DURANGO, THE FUEL SPURTS OUT AT ME... EVEN WHEN I GO SUPER SLOW IN FILLING IT UP. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS NOW. THE AREA AROUND AND UNDER THE GAS CAP IS NOW ALL CORRODED AND RUSTED. I RECENTLY TOOK SOME PICTURES DURING THE FILL TO SHOW ALL THE GAS ON THE GROUND AND ON THE CAR. I TOOK THIS TO DODGE CITY IN BROOKFIELD, WI AND THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT CHARGING ME FOR THE WORK (ALMOST $600). IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I SEE MANY PEOPLE WITH THESE DURANGOS HAVE THIS ISSUE BUT CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGING THE END USER.
VEHICLE SWITCHES INTO 4X4 WITH VEHICLE TURNED OFF CHRYSLER SAYS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG BUT IF YOU GO TO CAR GURUS .COM LOTS AND LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND NO ONE WILL HELP US CAUSE IS TRANSFER CASE MOTOR ENGAGES ON ITS OWN CAUSING OUR CAR TO LOCK 4X4 AND YES VEHICLE WILL SKID AROUND CORNERS AND IS DANGERUS
THE TRANSFER CASE PUTS ITSELF INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED BY THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM AS YOU CAN HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE MOVING. WHEN IT'S IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE IT MAKES TURNING VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT JUST WON'T TURN. I AM GROUNDING THIS VEHICLE AND WILL HAVE IT TOWED TO DODGE BUT AFTER READING ALL THE POSTS ABOUT THESE VEHICLES IT APPEARS DODGE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT EITHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO INSERT THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE INTO THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THE FUEL FILLER NECK WOULD ONLY ALLOW A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF FUEL TO ENTER AT A TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK AND FUEL TANK PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,494.
MY DODGE DURANGO LIMITED STARTED SHIFTING FROM AND TO 4WD AND THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHIFTING RANDOMLY WILE DRIVING DOWN THE HWY. IT WILL SHIFT INTO 4WL WILE DRIVING 60 MILES PER HOUR DOWN THE ROAD. THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED!
PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND IN PARK THE CAR STALLED, RESTARTED IT AND IT STALLED AGAIN, DID THIS 3 TIMES IN LOT. CAR STALLED MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN LOST ALL POWERS BUT RESTARTED AGAIN, NOTHING ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. CAR STALLED ON DECELERATION COMING TO RED LIGHT LOST BRAKES AND STEERING ROLLED TO STOP TO START IT AGAIN, LUCKY DID NOT HIT ANYONE. WHILE TRAVELING ON I-90 EASTBOUND AT 70 MPH MY 05 DODGE DURANGO SUDDENLY LOST MOMENTUM AND THE ENGINE RPM WENT UP. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE STILL IN GEAR BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY JUST OFF THE NEXT CLOSEST EXIT. EXAMINATION SHOWED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS OKAY, THE REPAIR FACILITY FOUND THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD BEEN STRIPPED OUT. THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN DISPLAYING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFTING WITHOUT TOUCHING THE SELECTOR SWITCH. ALSO YOU COULD HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR ACTIVATING WHILE UNLOCKING THE DOORS ??? RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THERE ARE MANY SUCH INCIDENCES OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. REPAIR COSTS ME $1403. BUT THE VEHICLE IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. THERE ARE REPORTS OF PEOPLE CHANGING OUT PARTS WITH NO FIX. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND THE DEALER SHOULD RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. THE DEALER AND NITTO HAVE REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRE. INSTEAD OF KEEPING THE TIRE FOR INSPECTION, THE DEALER THREW THE TIRE AWAY. TIRE WAS GONE THE FOLLOWING DAY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE TIRE. I WANT ALL THE TIRES REPLACED AS THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE WITH THESE TIRES THAT COULD RESULT IN GREAT BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. NITTO TIRES HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN THE PAST DUE TO FAILURE.
FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME WHEN FUELING. I TRY TO PUMP AS SLOWLY AS POSSIBLE BUT FUEL STILL RUNS DOWN SIDE OF TRUCK WHEN ABOUT 3/4 FULL EVERY SINGLE FILL-UP. LAST HAPPENED PREVIOUS SATURDAY. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING LAST 15,000 MILES. LOCAL DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG.
I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER A STORAGE FACILITY AND WAS SLOWLY EASING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WHEN WHEN THE ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY MY SUV LURCHED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED OUT OF MY CONTROL TORE THROUGH THE STORAGE GATE THAT DIDN'T FINISH OPENING TOTALLY DESTROYING THE FACILITIY MAIN GATE. THAT IS HOW I FOUND THIS SITE. THIS NEEDS TO BE HANDLED IN THE UTMOST URGENCY. THE FRONT HEAT/AC CONTROLS STOP WORKING. IT DOESN'T MATTER RATHER THE HEAT IS ON OR THE AC IS ON. IT WILL RANDOMLY STOP BLOWING AIR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE WIRES UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH (UP UNDER THE GLOVE BOX) GET EXTREMELY HOT AND SMELLS LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. WHEN MY MECHANIC LOOKED INTO IT THE WHITE PLASTIC PIGTAIL PART WAS HALF MELTED AWAY. HE REPLACED IT BUT A FEW MONTHS LATER WE HAD TO REPLACE IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I DIDN'T DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. NOW AFTER 2 DAYS OF DRIVING IT SINCE IT WAS SITTING IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME, ALL OF THE DASH WARNING/SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME, MY TURN SIGNALS, BRAKE LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, HAZARD LIGHTS, AND ALL GAUGES MALFUNCTIONED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE "FRONT CONTROL MODULE".

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SPITS OUT AFTER THE FUEL NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. I FIRST THOUGHT IS WAS A DEFECT WITH THE FUEL NOZZLE. BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EACH TIME I FILL UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. THERE ARE SEVERAL VIDEOS ON YTUBE WHICH CLEARLY SHOW THIS PROBLEM. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT THE SERVICE STATION WITH THE ENGINE AND IGNITION IS OFF. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THE CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BUT VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. HE HAVE TO GET IT BACK TO THE SHOP TO FIND OUT MORE. I LOOKED ON SEVERAL FORUMS TO FIND THAT FOR OVER THE PAST 5 YRS A LOT OF DODGE DURANGO OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY. THEY REPLACED FRONT CONTROL MODULE, TRANSFER CASE, TRANSFER CASE MOTOR AND HAD IT REWIRED. SOME DID PART AND LATER HAD TO DO IT ALL JUST TO FIX. IF I HAD NOT HAD DURBY DRIVING EXPERIENCE WHEN THIS HAPPENED I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.
