TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL, THE FUEL NOZZLE WOULD CONSTANTLY CLICK OFF. AFTER REMOVING THE FUEL FILLER TUBE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL FILLER SCREEN WAS CLOGGED WITH PLASTIC DEBRIS FROM THE INNER LINING OF THE FILLER TUBE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEBRIS HAD ALSO CLOGGED UP THE FUEL FILTERS AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SPUTTER AND HESITATE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
JUST STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT, PULLED AWAY AND HEARD A SMALL POPPING NOISE, SLOWED DOWN TO TURN CORNER TO TRY TO PULL OVER AND LOOK AND VEHICLE STARTED POPPING LIKE A POPCORN POPPER. THOUGHT IT WAS MUFFLER(S). GOT UNDER CAR TO LOOK NOTHING WRONG THERE, PROCEEDED TO GO BACK HOME. ( LESS THAN 5 BLOCKS AWAY) DRIVING ON (COASTING) ONLY USING GAS PEDAL TO MAKE IT INTO DRIVEWAY. GOT UNDER HOOD AND SEEN SPARK PLUG LAYING ON ENGINE, COIL LOOING LIKE IT HAD CAUGHT FIRE. REPLACED WIRE, PLUG AND PUT A HELIX COIL ON IT. DROVE FOR ABOUT A MONTH. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. HAD MECHANIC "RETHREAD" THE HEAD AND USE "SLEEVE". THIS LASTED ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH. HAD TO REPLACE IT 3 MORE TIMES (ALWAYS THE SAME PLUG THAT POPPED OUT) UNTIL AUGUST 2 WHEN IT DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY BEFORE IT POPPED AGAIN. NOW IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, A 5100 POUND "LAWN ORNAMENT" NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO REPLACING THE HEAD. *TR

I WAS DOING A LEFT TURN ON A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN MY FORD EXPEDITION 2000 08/16/2010 AND THE TRUCK JUST DIED AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST CRASH BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK ANY MORE . THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. AFTER TESTING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS WARPED AND FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE TOP. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $2,000. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE WHETHER OR NOT HE COULD REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,253. I NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID ON MY DRIVEWAY AT THE LEFT REAR OF MY 2000 EXPEDITION WHICH ONLY HAS 28,140 MILES. THE DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE PLASTIC GAS TANK IS LEAKING AT THE SEAMS WHERE IT IS MOLDED TOGETHER. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEIR RESPONSE IS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *JB
SMELLED GASOLINE IN OUR GARAGE. DISCOVERED THAT THE PLASTIC SHIELD AROUND THE GAS TANK HAD RUBBED THROUGH BOTH THE SHIELD SURROUNDING THE GAS LINE AND THE GAS LINE ITSELF CAUSING THE SUV TO HAVE A GAS LEAK. DEALER TO REPLACE GAS LINE AND SHIELD. I WILL MAKE SURE TO GET BOTH THE SHIELD AND GASLINE.*AK

DIXIE DONELSON HAD ONLY PURCHASED HER FORD EXPEDITION THE MONTH PRIOR (EARLY JUNE), AND WAS JUST UNDERWAY FOR A TRIP TO VISIT HER DAUGHTER IN COLORADO. THE ORIGINAL POLICE REPORT DOCUMENTS HER LOSING CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE WITHIN THE FIRST 40 MINUTES OF HER TRIP. FURTHER OBSERVATIONS OF THE CRASH SITE HAVE REVEALED TREAD REMNANTS OF NEW FIRESTONE SUV TIRES. HOWEVER, THE EXPEDITION CAUGHT FIRE AND ALL REMAINING TIRES BURNED TO THE EXTENT OF NOT BEING IDENTIFIABLE. DIXIE HAD TOLD HER DUAGHTER SHE HAD NEW FIRESTONE TIRES, BUT WE HAVE HAD LITTLE SUCCESS IN DETERMINING THE ACTUAL TIRE MODEL.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: (UNKNOWN) )
WITH LESS THAN 1/4 TANK OF FUEL, FACING DOWNWARD, VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF. LOW FUEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON. VEHICLE ACTED AS IF IT WAS OUT OF FUEL. COULD NOT BE RESTARTED WHILE DOWN HILL. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC INDICATED IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER. MANUFACTURER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT A SENSOR IN FUEL PUMP LOCATED IN REAR OF TANK MALFUNCTIONED.*AK
