I took my car into Alpine Ford in Pueblo, Co to fix the recall for the toe links. They left my alignment extremely off. They refuse to fix it and no other shop in town can fix it. I’ve gotten multiple alignments done. A mechanic told me there was no fixing it unless Alpine redid with their tools or I replaced the toe links with adjustable toe links. Yes. It is available for inspection. There isn’t a light that comes on. This causes a major safety concern. My alignment is off which causes the vehicle to not drive properly. I went through a brand new pair of tires in a year. Those tires got worn down to the wire, even with regular rotation and alignments done all year long. My tire could have blown at any time while I was driving.
I’ve had this recall for awhile now. I’m tired of constantly replacing tires due to this recall and improper wearing. When reaching out to dealership I’m told Covid stopped the production of the part and I need to just “deal with it and replace tires frequently /rotate them” I can’t afford 2 new tires every 6 months
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, SIZE: 255/50R20. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS WASHING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE SHREDDING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES WOULD WORSEN OVER TIME BEFORE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
I AM REQUESTING THAT THE DOT NHTSA LOOK INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF A TIRE DEFECT THAT CAN AFFECT THE SAFE OPERATION OF VEHICLES WITH COOPER DISCOVERER SRX TIRES. I PURCHASED A SET OF 4 COOPER DISCOVERER SRX TIRES AND HAD THEM PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED ON MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE SIZE IS 255/50R20. DURING THE WINTER OF 2018-19 THEY BEGAN TO LEAK AIR EXCESSIVELY WHEN IT WAS COLD. THE LOSS WOULD GROW TO A POINT THE LOW AIR LIGHT CAME ON EVERY WEEK. IT WAS VARIOUS TIRES CAUSING THE ISSUE. THIS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE WINTER AND INTO THE SPRING OF 2019. THE LEAKS ARE MORE SEVERE WHEN DRIVING THAN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. I BELIEVE THE TIRES MAY HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED TO THE POINT THAT THEY ARE CONTINUING TO LEAK WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE NOW. OVER THE PAST 3 MONTHS I HAVE HAD THEM IN 2 SEPARATE TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE TIRES DO NOT HAVE A HOLE IN THEM NOR LEAK AT THE BEAD BUT ARE LEAKING DUE TO WEATHER OR OTHER. I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WITH COOPER TIRES TO HANDLE THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NOT HANDLED THEIR WARRANTY MATTER. I HAVE BEEN TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS WHO SENT ME BACK TO THE ORIGINAL INSTALLER AND THEY HAVE HAD THEM OFF TWO TIMES TO VERIFY THE ISSUE. BEFORE THIS SAFETY ISSUE BECOMES A SERIOUS INCIDENT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE TIRES INVESTIGATED OR POSSIBLY RECALLED. I WAS DRIVING AND CAR MADE THIS SOUND LIKE THE TIRE GOING FLAT SO I QENT TO COUNTRY FAIR AND PUMPED UP MY TIRES,MY TIRE LIGHT AND WORNING NEVER CAME ON THAT IT THE FORST THING ,ANYWAY I CONTINUED TO GO HOME WHEN A MILE FROM MY HOME THE CAR WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT I STOPPED GOT OUT TO LOOK AND HALF THE RUBBER WAS OFF THE RIM .I DID NOT HIT MO POT HOLES OR NO CURB.
BOUGHT 2013 EXPLORER WITH P255/50R20 104H TIRES WENT TO HAVE ALL TERRAIN TIRES WITH STUDS PUT ON CAR FOR WINTER. WHEELS ARE 18 INCH RIMS (245/60R18 104T), RECOMMENDED BY FORD WHEN I BOUGHT VEHICLE. I NEED STUDS DUE TO EXTREME CONDITIONS IN MONTANA WITH ICE. THE P255/50R20 104H TIRES CANNOT BE FITTED WITH STUDS. FORD RECOMMENDED THE R18 TIRES. NOW FORD REFUSED TO RECALIBRATE MY SPEEDOMETER WITH THE SMALLER TIRES EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE STANDARD TIRE R245/60R18 PUT ON EXPLORERS. THE DEALER IS LOCKED OUT OF THIS OPTION. MY CHOICE IS DRIVE WITHOUT STUDS (CANNOT GET IN MY DRIVEWAY WITHOUT THEM)AND SPEEDOMETER IS CORRECT OR USE THE SAFER TIRE WITH STUDS AND RISK TICKETS AS THE SPEEDOMETER IS OFF.. *TR
