I was driving along and I get a wrench that pops up on my screen saying there's something going on and then I lose all power to my foot pedal and have to pull over immediately as I'm have absolutely no power and I have to get over to the right I later find out it's the throttle body sensor or that's what I've read and it's a major issue safety concern
Our 5.0L 6 speed automatic transmission will perform fine, but at random times will downshift, start in 5th, jump from 2 to 4, start and stay stuck in 1st. After cycling the key several times this can clear it out but not always. The downshift is scary and could cause an accident as this has done in recalled vehicle years. It is a matter of time before Ford has to recall the SAME transmission just a different year. The dealership did "flash" the transmission or the vehicle's computer to fix the program just in case a couple of years ago when I bought this. However, even my dealership's parts person said that this sounds identical to the lead frame issue on the earlier models. This is frustrating and dangerous to have these vehicles on the road like this.
2014 F-150 engine shuts off, abruptly while driving. Burned F27 fuel pump fuse in fuse box. Ford states VIN [XXX] is not covered by TSB 15-0137. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
My rear driver side window shattered while I was driving. It was around Jan 8th 2022 give or take the temperature was freezing but no ice had to be scraped. I warmed my truck up for a 3-4 mins before leaving work. As I was on the freeway no more than 10 min after starting my truck I was driving about 60mph at 5:30 in the morning I herd a super loud pop sounded almost like a rock hit my windshield but didn’t see anything. I didn’t find out what had happened until I got home. It did make me swerve just a little bit not know was happening but no cars were out that early. So only one of the three sections shattered but not into pieces it’s still intact as of now but is in a ton of little gravel size pieces. So I’m not able to use the electric middle window to open as I’m sure it will completely break the other section. Also I was not even using the rear defrost at the time just the front window part. I’m sure the temperature is to blame but either way it could have been a lot worse if there was traffic at the wrong time. I’ll be turning into insurance to have it fix in the next few days.
Truck turn over no start. Ford forum fuse 27 issue. My fuse 27 melted, replaced and truck started. Tsb 15-137. Fuse 27 relocation kit. Forum stated dealer install is $400. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
On 2 separate occasions while driving I have went to stop and brake pedal would not push down . Brake system failure light and alarm came on
THE REAR DOORS AND PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AND CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY USING THE INSIDE HANDLE, OUTSIDE HANDLE, OR KEY. THIS REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE DOOR CANNOT BE UNLOCKED ESPECIALLY IF SMALL CHILDREN ARE IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AT NO FAULT TO THE OWNERS.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering assist became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the steering may lock up. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V316000 (Steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
On 12-26-21 tried to start truck, It cranked but did not start. called for a tow to the dealer. while waiting on tow I looked up fuse information to the fuel pump. after locating fuse that controls power to fuel pump relay I pulled fuse and it was burnt on one side of the prong. I called off tow and got home and did some research for this problem seems 09 thru 14 this particular 20amp fuse is being over heated. I also found a service bulletin 15-0137 on a ford site, and its stating that a ( Fuel Pump Fuse Relocation Kit ) in which I have to pay $270 for. I believe this is fire hazard and a safety because if this fuse is blown while driving it will shut down the vehicle. I have watched several video's on this issue and believe it should be recalled do to the nature of the problem. There was also no warning nor any warning lamp on the dash to show an issue. made an apointment to the ford dealer for 12-27-2021 to have this relocation kit put on before there is a fire from this overheating of this fuse in the fuse compartment.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after her husband activated the defroster, it caused the rear windshield to shatter. The local dealer and several other dealers were made aware of the failure. All the dealers informed the contact to take the vehicle to an auto-glass dealer to replace the windshield. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
When driving, twice power has cut out with the vehicle without warning. I was also unable to start the vehicle on one occasion - it cranked but did not fire. Traced the problem to a melted #27 fuse in the engine bay, which is a known issue with these vehicles apparently.
Brakes are hard to push. Verified by independent service center. Warning message when it happened.
Since my truck was new I have had a problem with no acceleration, misfire, brakes, and some kind of growling noise when I come to a stop and or making right-hand turns. Just after my warranty expired I was driving on the highway and I had to slow down my truck cut off. Today it cut off in traffic 4 times, this isn't very safe. I pulled the codes and it was a P2112 throttle actuator closed. I saw on a web page that Ford extended the warranty on this issue to 10 years or 150,000 miles, I called Ford and they said that they will only charge me to fix this problem.
My 2014 F150 LISTED ABOVE IS HAVING BRAKING ISSUES. THE PEDAL IS HARD AS A ROCK AT TIMES AND YOU HAVE TO PUT ALL OF YOUR WEIGHT INTO STOPPING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT MAKES A GURGGLING SOUND OUT AT THE BRAKE BOOSTER. UPON VIEWING SOME MECHANICAL SITES ON THE NET THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR MODEL TRUCK AS THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD BE LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER AND OR THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS GONE BAD. I PUT IN MY VEHICLE VIN AND IT SHOWS ZERO RECALLS FOR MY TRUCK. HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN IT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS OF THE SAME YEAR REGAURDLESS OF WHERE IT WAS BUILT. MY 17 YEAR OLD SON DROVE THIS TO SCHOOL TODAY AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE UPON PARKING AS THE PEDAL GOT SO HARD HE COULD HARDLY STOP THE TRUCK FROM HITTING THEM, THE LIGHT DID COME ON IN THE DASH PANEL BUT WENT OUT. WILL THIS BE A RECALL IN THE NEAR FUTURE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED? ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET THIS FIX AT OUR EXPENSE? PLEASE CONTACT US AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE TO HELP US WITH THIS MATTER.
The symptoms are exactly as described in the leadframe recall of 2013 F-150 trucks - my truck is 2014. The truck suddenly shifts to 1st gear while travelling at higher speeds, sluggish acceleration, check engine light and the wrench icon appearing on the display, MPG display dropped to zero, and the speedometer stopped working while driving. The symptoms appeared gradually over the last 6 months, with the speedometer and the wrench icon happening yesterday. The last time I took it to the mechanic, about 2 months ago, the check engine light was on, but no codes. This is a safety issue because sudden shifting to 1st gear while at a higher speed is going to cause loss of control and an accident.
Service advanetrac message came on while driving (not at start up) prior to losing power steering while driving. Service advancetrac message came on but went away after 1 minute of driving. A few minutes after message went away, the truck completely lost power steering while driving on a highway (nearly lost conrol). Power Steering Assist fault message then appeared and the Service Advancetrac message reappeared. Had to have truck towed.
Back power and heated glass shattering as I turned on rear defrost with child in the back seat!!
I was driving with my defrost on front and rear windows at night time. I was stopped at a light when I heard a loud bang followed by a crackling noise. I safely found a spot to park close by and inspected if anything hit my truck. Nothing. My rear window on my cab was completely shattered. No evidence of anything hitting it. My truck bed was completely empty and had the canopy on. There was nothing in between the rear truck and canopy. What the heck? Had to be the rear defrost. There are multiple stories on the internet just like mine, with zero recall!!!! Ford make this right. Now I’m out 780.00 due to Fords faulty defrost wiring.
The back doors use to swing open when driving now they won’t open at all. Both of our raptors did this. It is a problem
Coolant leaks and rear glass shattering!!
While traveling at 60MPH transmission downshifts to 1st gear causing rear end to basically lock up and skidded into oncoming traffic lane. Luckily I didn’t hit anyone. Transmission also locks into 5th or 3rd gear at a stop and will not shift out. Unpredictable at best, VERY DANGEROUS.
I was turning into a had station and my advance trac message came on than a loud screeching noise was made and I had no power steering I looked online and it said maybe my battery terminal fuse was bad so I replaced it even though it was fine I did some .ore research and come to find out my epas gear motor went out so I had to order a replacement I asked ford about the recall and they seem to not know anything about it at the dealership so when I called ford corporate they instructed me to call back the dealership so I'm stuck going back and forth it's kinda weird there's a recall for exact thing that went out in my truck and my truck is the same year so I'm a little confused maybe ford true to sweep this under the rug and repace the trucks that came forward years ago and be done with it ohhh did Mention my truck just hit 60k miles
On several occasions while driving at 50+ mph my truck suddenly downshifts from 6th gear to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up and skid. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they refuse to do anything because they can not duplicate the issue. this has happened several times the last time was on the freeway causing me to shoot over 2 lanes of traffic almost causing an accident. the ford dealership and the extended warranty company ameriplus both refuse to help because they both say that they can not duplicate the problem but the vehicle comes up with dtc codes p0731 and p0722This is extremely concerning that this will happen when driving at highway speeds and the fact this vehicle is my daily driver and I usually have my kids in the vehicle with me. Im very concerned about the safety of driving now especially after learning this exact issue was recalled on the vehicles a year before mine with three same 6 speed transmission, but not on my year.
In October 2017 the entire rear window heating element was identified as defective. The entire window panel was replaced with Ford contributing partial monetary renumeration for the repair. On November 2, 2021 the rear window heater was activated. The indicator light did not “light up”. Approximately 15 minutes later a loud “bang” was heard in the cabin and the presence of smoke was evident. Upon pulling over and inspecting the vehicle, smoke was emanating from the rear right (passenger side) bottom corner. It was also noticed that the entire right panel. Ford has indicated that there is currently no recall associated with this. There are multiple reported incidents of the occurring over many years upon performing a Google search.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the powertrain malfunction warning light was illuminated, then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with throttle body failure. The dealer replaced the throttle body. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 62,790.
Monday November 1, 2021. I was traveling at approximately 45 mph when transmission downshifted to 1st gear. The tires locked up, causing severe skid bringing me to an abrupt stop. Fortunately, traffic was light and no one was behind me.
driving down the interstate at around 70 mph all of the lights went out and the veh shut down after about a min or so I started the veh with out any problem. The battery light went on I drove about tem more miles. I shut the veh off got gas pulled out of the gas station and the lights went out and the engine shut off. I pulled over restarted the engine the battery light was still on but it started with out any problem and drove home.
On 10/28/2021 at approximately 12 PM my trucks driver side Power sliding rear window shattered after turning on The rear defrost. I live in Florida so Temperature was not an issue but it was lightly raining. Please help! Vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the Incident
While driving on the freeway at about 70 mph, the "wrench" symbol popped up on my dash and the truck went into "limp mode" which is where the truck is on but you cannot accelerate. I then had the same thing happen while driving on the street at about 45 mph. Both times, I was able to get off to the side, restart the vehicle and then start driving again. After the car was restarted, there was some harsh shifting between 5th and 6th gear and it seemed a bit sluggish. I contacted the Ford dealership and they told me that they couldn't do anything unless the check engine light or wrench symbol were showing on the dashboard.
I was travelling down US Highway 1 when I received a dashboard warning "Power Steering Assist Fault." The steering became extremely difficult and required two hands and a lot of exertion to steer the vehicle. Fortunately I was driving straight line at the time of the failure without other vehicles in close proximity. Driver safety was definitely impacted and could have caused a loss of control. The fault has remained on, even after turning on and off the vehicle. The vehicle is with the Ford service center for diagnostics and repair. Vehicle has only 83,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted to 1st gear. The contact stated that the vehicle was usually in 3rd or 5th gear whenever the failure would occur, causing the vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. The contact would pull over, restart the vehicle, and the vehicle would temporarily operate as needed; the failure would recur after driving approximately 10 miles. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the lead output shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The contact was informed that the repair would be an out-of-pocket expense. The failure mileage was 92,348.
Swollen lug nuts. Was advised by Paradise Ford, Cocoa, FL dealership all 24 needed to be replaced. My cost $124.00. The service technician stated to me, “it’s a bad design, Ford should cover this.”
Steering is very sticky when turning left or right. Seems like low on fluid. But no pump is on this.
Transmission sudden downshift. Causing loss of control.
The Airbag warning light appears on my dashboard. I took it to my local garage and he scanned the system that shows code B1214:13-8B - Passengers Safety Belt Retractor Pretensioner Deployment Control. I called Ford corporation and they said there are no recalls, however, I went online and a Ford recall #17S17 exists (Recall #17V472000)
Driving 55 mph the truck slammed into 1st gear at the same time rpm shot up then jumped to 3rd gear then stuck in 5th gear i thought they fixed this issue with the update on the ecm in 2013. If it is a problem with the lead on the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission why is that not being replaced instead of making it shift to a higher gear. With it shifting to a higher gear is not a fix its a bandaid for a bigger issue......
Brake fluid leaking into break booster
I was driving at 45 mph and suddenly, the truck downshifted into low gear and slowed immediately down to about 5 mph. A vehicle following me nearly rear ended me. On more occasions, trying to get off the highway, the trucks motor overreved, then slammed into gear as if it was trying to shift, but couldn’t. I immediately called Ford Corporate and was told to take it to a dealership. I did this and was told it would be 6 weeks before they can get me in the shop, and that was if that part could be found. I have seen a recall for 2011-2013 F150’s, but Ford told me that 2014 was not included. This is very dangerous for anyone to have this happen to, luckily, I have many years of experience driving combination vehicles. If I had been towing my 36’ camper or if this happened to an inexperienced driver, it could have been disastrous. I have since taken it to a small, experienced transmission shop and was told that this is very, very common. Even on 2014 and up. Any 6R80 transmission in a Ford. Please take a look at this and update these model years for everyone’s safety.
Engine exhaust manifold warps and the manifold heads break off in the block
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V345000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after approximately four attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred approximately three years later. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to slow down as needed. The vehicle coasted and eventually came to a stop, and was shifted into park, and turned off. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was determined that the timing chain needed to be replaced again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH and approaching a stop light, the contact depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to slow down properly. The contact desperately depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure stated in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic replaced the brake master cylinder; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150 equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: Dueler, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: 98YIDOL. The contact also stated that there were cracks in between the tread. The tires were not replaced; however, they were patched. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 93,000. The tire failure mileage was 70,000.
The steering went out. It felt like i had no power steering and was barely able to steer. the steering would not come back to neutral. It was almost impossible to drive. The dealer told me they get this issue a few times a week. I had to have the intermediate shaft and both tie rods replaced. I did complain to Ford who more or less said too bad
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a reverse image. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear-view camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH up a hill, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently slowed down. The contact stated that once at the top of the hill the vehicle resumed normal speed however, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure with the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) sensor. No repairs were completed as the aftermarket warranty company did not cover the repairs. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic who confirmed that the VCT and timing change tensioner needed to be repaired. The contact stated that the diagnostic failure code was P0016. The vehicle was not repaired as the independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was a known failure with the timing chain tensioner and the contact was advised to contact the manufacturer for a recall. There was a Technical Service Bulletin for the failure however, the vehicle was out of warranty, and the manufacturer declined to cover the repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased USED in July of 2021 and was unaware of any Technical Service Bulletin. The vehicle was then taken to dealer who confirmed the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
Driving at a 25 mph got an engine warning light and engine shut down - extremely dangerous condition - error message on dash showed wrenches - error message when further investigated showed P2112 AND P2112PE. Engine shut down again - after restarting and driving for approximately 15 minutes at 50 miles per hour. Pulled to side of road restarted NO ERROR codes this time! YIKES. This relates to the Throttle Body. Looked online and found this happens A LOT to FORD trucks, and somehow my F150 2014 is not in the recall. I purchased part from dealer and FORD said they would not refund any money as this VIN number does not have any recalls. Can you explain why this defective Throttle Body in my vehicle has not been recalled? P.S. I have attached a picture of oil that has leaked into the defective Throttle Body causing malfunction.
Last night while coming home from dinner I was cruising around 40 mph when all of a sudden the transmission downshifted to 1st gear and basically locked up the rear tires. It scared my family along with myself.
When taking off into traffic the truck simply dies, this doesn't happen all the time. When I try to crank the truck the it tries to turn over, but sounds like no fuel it getting through. The last time this happen my wife and son pulled out of the subdivision onto two lane road going up hill. I had the truck towed to the nearest parking lot. When looking at the fuse box I noticed the 20amp mirco fuse was burnt/melted into slot on the fuse panel. I was able to get the fuse out and replaced it with a 15amp mico fuse. The truck started up with no problems. My wife also told me that she has noticed the truck looses fuel pressure when going down the road. This happens occasionally. we have notice the battery lite comes on when the problem occur. when this happens I could usually wait 20 min and then it would start, but the last time it happen the 20 min waiting period didn't help. I took the truck to Pinnacle Ford in Lexington and they told me there the was known problem with a tech advisory bulletin associated to this problem. The fix the problem and I feel better my wife and children will not be suck on the road with a broken down truck.
Complete hydraulic brake failure (front and rear). While the vehicle was in motion, brakes were applied to stop the vehicle, but the brake peddle went completely to the floor without any braking operation. The vehicle had to be stopped with the parking brake. Upon further inspection, the brake fluid reservoir had fluid in it, but brake fluid was leaking out from the region of the master cylinder and booster. This vehicle was recalled for the same, or similar issues, and the recall repairs were performed by Ford in 2016, however, this issue occurred after the recall repairs.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 mph or at highway speeds, the vehicle downshifted to first gear and the rpm revved up to 5,000 rpm, the rear wheels locked up, the vehicle lost traction control and started skidding. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 19V433000 (Power Train) and 19V075000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure recurred and became more severe. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
