While driving my truck several times now it shuts off in the middle of driving it without any warning. Many lights come on oil, wrench, check 4x4, limp mode, says remove item on passenger seat. Nothing on seat. Sometimes the truck starts back up other times it does not for approximately 15 minutes. Was almost rear ended by another vehicle one time. I have complained to Ford Motor company and unfortunately got no where with my complaint. I have read many complaints on the internet about the same problem and seems like it is only a ford truck problem. Widespread in the years I have seen complaints from 2006-2020 with the same problem. Something needs to be done before someone is hurt or even killed.
This make and model is having the exact same 6 speed transmission issues as earlier recalls. The final straw was when the truck failed to register the speed and slowly crept into oncoming traffic at night, while I turned left. It bucks and shifts hard at neighborhood and highway speeds. More often than not, it is a down speed shift and aggressive, whiplash buck. I lose control of the vehicle and the speedometer goes to 0 even at highway speeds. I called into the hotline and made a case- Case ID 11514803 but I haven't heard anything. That replacement part is on back order for a year + so my truck is unsafe and inoperable.

Same as 2013 recall, my transmission "locked" & had to replace the "lead frame assembly" at my expense. I've been told that the 2014 models are having the exact same problem as the earlier (recalled) model years. Please investigate Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Transmission (Lead Frame - AL329G276D) malfunctions causes vehicle to downshift to 2nd or 1st gear at highway speed (60 mph+) with no warning. The truck's wheels lock up, causing the vehicle to skid uncontrollably until the transmission upshifts to a higher gear. This incident could cause a major highway accident endangering passengers and others driving on the highway. This enduring problem was a recall issue on 2011-2013 models and the vehicle was taken directly to the dealer to address at the problem that occurred twice under the same conditions. The problem was diagnosed (lead frame part number referenced previously) and the dealer acknowledged Ford F-150s have this problem all the time. The was no indication light on the dash before or after, however, the Ford dealer said the vehicle had an error code (P0722) when connected to their analyzer which indicates the transmission lead frame failure. I will not put my family and others at risk, the vehicle is not safe to drive, and now sits at my home as a $35,000-dollar paperweight. The reason it is not being repaired is because the Ford dealer cannot get the part to repair their own product, which they know is an on-going problem for thousands of Ford owners (their words - not mine.) Safety is more important than disappointment, but I waited 12 years to purchase a F-150.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering, requiring excessive force to steer the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V316000 (Steering). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, who made the contact aware that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
This began in November of 2022 as an Intermittent concern. At first, it appeared that I could temporally correct by pulling over completely shutting off the truck and re-starting (re-booting) but is rapidly becoming worse and today (02/09/2023) became untenable, no matter what I did; the speedometer would not work or behaved erratically for brief periods; the information center display disappeared and then became dashes; the transmission randomly down-shits gears causing the wheels to lock up briefly or does not shift at all, causing engine RPMs to spike. While thankfully this has only occurred at speeds below 40 MPH, I feel that this is a safety concern for myself and others as operation of my vehicle becomes haphazard and unpredictable and I am very concerned that it may happen at higher speeds causing a crash. While I have not had the "wrench" displayed, I have read the following codes: U0401 INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM ECM/PCM; P0316 MISFIRE AT START; P0722 OUTPUT SPEED SHAFT SENSOR The local dealer sates that he believes it to be a Molded Lead Frame issue that was recalled in previous F-150 models but as mine was a 2014, it was not covered. Obviously, the problem has not been resolved for subsequent models.Additionally, the needed replacement part is unavailable and on indefinite back-order, or as the dealer put it, on "inter-galactic back-order" So now, I have an expensive paper weight in my driveway, waiting for a part that may be months or even up to a year to arrive.
Rear window shattered when truck was parked. I was opening front door to get inside at the time.
The contact's son owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after two months of the vehicle not being driven, the brake warning light appeared on the instrument panel upon starting the vehicle. As the contact's son was approaching a stop light, the brake pedal depressed the floorboard as the vehicle crossed the intersection. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the mechanic discovered a brake fluid leak due to a defective brake master cylinder and brake booster. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) which he linked to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
Rear camera for backing is reversed. In the camera’s view on my frontal screen the left side of the vehicular is on the right side. Safety issues when backing up due to display being reversed especially at night. Electrical system on dash computer and headlights and dash lights turn off and on periodically. They blink off and on for a few seconds. Also affects rear camera sometimes but turning off camera and computer screen said to contact the dealer for camera issues. Also have check engine light coming on. Hand held computer and car shop both state “ low voltage, oxygen sensor, bank one, sensor one. Three times check engine light on in past 2 weeks after shop stated it was fixed. Electrical short in dash and computer screen could be shorting out sensors.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his son was driving at various speeds, the vehicle was accelerating independently despite not depressing the accelerator pedal. The coolant warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was related to coolant leaking from the turbocharger; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact's son, a certified independent mechanic, diagnosed that the turbochargers were leaking coolant at the radiator pipe connector. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the driver's side turbocharger was leaking coolant onto the skid plate, and the passenger's side turbocharger was leaking coolant onto the exhaust. Additionally, the contact was informed that vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 41,200.
Back window shattered for unknown reason. The back window on my truck just shattered for reasons unknown. After doing some research this is a known issue with f150 trucks. The back window has a defroster installed
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon removing the passenger's side floor mat after it rained, the contact noticed that the carpet was significantly wet. The contact then discovered that the carpet showed the presence of mold. Additionally, the contact stated that the bolts securing the front passenger’s and driver’s seats to the chassis were corroded. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
I was driving 70mph in the middle lane on the highway and all of a sudden it down shifted resulting in my rear end locking up. I had my three children in the vehicle and the truck gave me no warning signs. I was fishtailing and was extremely lucky we didn’t crash and I was able to gain control of the vehicle again. I took it to the mechanics shop and they told me it was the p0720 output speed censor circuit malfunction and this was causing misfires in my engine as well in cylinder 7 because of the problem in my transmission. I haven’t drove the truck since because I can’t afford to fix a transmission and engine.
Vehicle got stuck in the snow. Tried getting vehicle out and almost had it free when I noticed the temperature gauge rising. I then shut the vehicle down and was calling for help for 10 minutes then noticed a flame come out of the engine bay. Yelled for my family to get out. Me and my wife rushed to get our kids out of the vehicle and down the road. The cab and engine bay are gone. I don’t know what caused the fire but it needs to be figured out my family was endangered.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission while changing gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I have the same symptoms that are covered under Compliance Recall 12C23, and Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01. Vehicle will sporatically go into limp mode at speed, causing hard shifts. If vehicle is shut off and turned back on, sometimes it will clear the issue on its own. I have reached out to Ford, and they tell me that although they're aware of the same exact issues between 2011 and 2013, my vehicle is not covered due to being a 2014 model year. This is same transmission that was installed in the 2011 to 2013 year vehicles. Currently the replacement part is on backorder. My vehicle has under 150,000 miles as required under the customer satisfaction program. I'd greatly appreciate for some one to look into this, and see if it can be extended to all Fords with the 6r80 transmissions. This is a very well known issue with these transmissions, all should be repaired before major damage or collisions occur.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle shifted to first gear. The contact stated that while her son was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly, and the vehicle abruptly stopped. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission, lead frame harness, and control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Morristown Ford (1112 W Morris Blvd., Morristown, TN 37813); who was unable to determine cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 140,160. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly down shifted into first gear. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle abruptly slowed down causing the rear tires to slide. The contact was able to pull over and shut off the vehicle; once the vehicle was restarted the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the transmission harness needed to be replaced. The transmission harness was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 93,000.
The rear doors on the truck would not open. Ford reports that it is a "wear and tear" issue b/c the piece at the end of the cable that pulls the latch to open the door is plastic. My concern is not being able to open the doors if there were people (perhaps a baby in a car seat), in the back seat and there was an accident. It seems to me that it is a simple engineering fix. My complaint to Ford went nowhere. There are several videos on YouTube about this problem so I suspect it is a fairly common problem.
vehicle had 65,732 when the timing chain and both turbo chargers seized costing $8,770.46. Complaining because we feel ford is at fault for this failure. engine has hardly any miles. Other Ford vehicles with many more miles had this recall but ford says mine was not covered. then under 2,000 miles later the power steering went costing $3,130.96 which was also another recall on other ford vehicles same model, same year but Ford says not mine.
The automatic transmission shifts when it should not. As I drive it shifts down into lower gears and once actually shifted down into 1st gear as I was traveling at 40 miles per hour. When this occurs the speedometer needle jumps up and down erratically. Occasionally when I try to leave from a standing stop, stop light or stop sign, the tachometer revs up as it normally would but the truck moves very slowly. I should be accellerated to 20 or so mph but the truck is moving at slower than walking speed. I stop, put the truck in park and repeat the procedure and it usually accelerates normally. Dealer took pan off, complete failure. Large metal chunks on pan. No warnings or indicators lite up on dash. Ongoing, re-occuring. Vehicle currently has 130k miles
I was going to get some lunch and I noticed a low brake fluid message was on. So I popped the hood to check fluid level and sure enough it was. I went to auto zone purchased some fluid and filled the reservoir and all seemed fine, but before I could get back to the office the message low brake fluid appeared again. Again I filled the reservoir with fluid at the end of my shift, the message went away and I headed home. As preceded home the message appeared again and I had to purchase more fluid and repeatedly filled the reservoir to make it home . After I got home I looked around the vehicle for leaks and there was none. I explained what happened to my mechanic and he told me my master cylinder was bad and that all the extra fluid I had put into the reservoir had leaked into my booster. About the same time I got a letter stating that a class action lawsuit was being filed in regard to brake failure and here I am.
There is a recall for this same vehicle, but only 2011-2013 year models for the transmission lead frame in the 6R80 transmission. I am experiencing the same part failure, and according to online forums and the fact the part is on extreme back order through all Ford dealerships, the recall should be extended to 2014 year makes as well. My truck is beginning to experience Output Speed Sensor failure symptoms. I was on the freeway a couple times now, driving at normal speeds (65 Mph), when the speedometer started jumping vigorously, then down to zero a few times, causing the transmission to suddenly lock my tires for a second. This is extremely concerning and is putting a my life as well as others at a HUGE risk. Thankfully the tires didn't lock for long and the roads were dry. This could have ended very badly. I plan to do the repair ASAP but it seems like 2014 year models are also affected by this recall (19N01)
My back up camera works sometimes but not every time works when it wants too when I need it it doesn’t work but when I don’t need it it’s working.
The truck alames into 1st gear while driving sticks in 3rd gear as well as 5th gear no miles are being registered Speedometer not working, not registering accurate speed or mileage engine and transmission stop communicating.
Brake booster leaking. Eco Booster leaking oil on manifold.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission intermittently downshifted while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the powertrain control module warning light appeared on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode as the contact managed to coast the vehicle off the highway. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle to the dealer; however, the warning light disappeared, and the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After resuming driving, the failure recurred a second time. The vehicle was then taken to Woody Smith Ford (535 S Yellowstone Hwy, Rexburg, ID 83440) to be diagnosed. The mechanic replaced the throttle body and motor. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
Without warning (no lamps or prior problems), the vehicle abruptly downshifted at high speed. Attempting to temporarily alleviate the problem, the vehicle was placed in manual mode. While traveling at 60+MPH in manual on a busy freeway, the speedometer began fluctuating wildly and the vehicle downshifted again. Upon decelerating, the vehicle violently shifted into first gear with loss of control. Although an accident was avoided, the safety of passengers and other nearby vehicles were at risk. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership and the issue was reproduced once but failed to properly show codes. After researching prior model years with similar concerns, replacement of the molded lead frame as would have been completed under a recall, alleviated the problem.
2 complaints 1st was my back window spiderwebbed without being hit when it was super cold in wisconsin on Dec 22 2022. It was a loud bang really startled me and I had no clue what happened until the next day. 2nd my wipers will turn on by them self sometimes and there is no intermittent wipers just the medium speed where there is no hesitation or delay.
Approx. speed of 50 mph vehicle suddenly dropped into 1st gear resulting in rapid deceleration. Both speedometer and tach were fluctuating and had no direct correlation with actual vehicle motion. Defect was momentary and truck resumed to normal shifting pattern and normal speedometer/tach function.
When starting my truck I am now getting a hill descent control fault and service advancetrac.also shows a weak battery but the battery is new and has been checked okay.when you get these warnings the power steering becomes inoperable.also no turn signals work.I’ve not been able to get it into my local ford service as of this time.if I keep switching it off and recranking the warnings go away and all is well.what I don’t understand is why anyone would build a vehicle that would shut down your steering because of a warning that goes away. I have since read about other people having this happen while actually driving and losing steering and some power.this could be life threatening if your going about 70 miles an hour in the middle of traffic. I don’t understand how it’s legal to build a vehicle with this system.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made knocking sounds and then lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that there was a connecting rod failure and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
While driving, the truck suddenly shifted into 3rd gear. I stopped the vehicle, put it into park, shut the engine off, restarted the truck, put it back into drive and it immediately went into 3rd gear. I was unable to get the transmission to work properly so I had it towed to the dealership where I bought it.
I was driving my F150 on the road another day and it shut off all of sudden in the middle of the road. I tried to restart it but was not successful. It was rush hour and it was so dangerous sitting in a truck in the middle of the road. Luckily I was not hit by other vehicles.
My transmission had been acting funny earlier in the day. Like not changing gears correctly. Later in the day, driving home from work, it started bucking and and the instrument cluster started going crazy. It started accelerating and I had to hit the brakes. It never threw any codes. A couple days later driving I had no power, and instrument cluster went crazy again. I seen a wrench and finally threw a code. I keep a code reader in my truck, it threw po720. It started driving fine after I turned it off and back on. I went home and read about the Ford F150 lead frame recall and my truck was made at the same plant. However Ford says, I am not covered. I do not understand how they can cover trucks a couple months before mine.
Rear window on left side shattered on its own, Believe the rear defrost controller is to be be the issue, or faulty glass.
Tonight I was using my rear defrost on my F-150 and I noticed the glass looked weird. Got out and my worst fear was true the back glass had shattered. I have only owned this truck since April I'm the second owner.
I was driving down the road and vehicle suddenly dropped in to third gear, the speedometer was indicating 0 MPH, a wrench was displayed on my center screen and the check engine light came on.
