THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXCEPTIONALLY LOOSE AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE UNKNOWN RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I HAVE A 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY ,, AND THERE ARE MANY KNOWN PROBLEMS ON THIS TRUCK THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND YET THE REFUSE TO FIX THEM .. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK AND I AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THIS TRUCK .. A WEEK AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK THE RAIDIATOR STARTED LEAKING .. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT ,, NOW I HAVE WHITE SMOKE POURING OUT OF THE BACK OF MY TRUCK EVERY MORNING ,, I AM EMBARRASSED TO BE SEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK .. I WISH I KNOW WHAT I KNOW NOW BEFORE I FORKED OUT TONS OF DOLLERS TO PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK .. I AM NOT HAPPY ,, AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NEVER TO BUY A FORD!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPACE, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO TURN IN A CIRCULAR MOTION WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEARS IN THE STEERING BOX FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE IN THE STEERING. IT WILL PULL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AT ANY GIVEN TIME GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WE ARE A FULL SERVICE SHOP AND OWN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING AND CONTACTED FORD. THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE STEERING SHAFT THAT GOES TO THE STEERING GEAR BOX. WE DID, BUT IT STILL DOES IT. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE STEERING GEAR AS WE HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE CONTACT TO ALMOST CRASH INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED SMOKE ENTERING FROM A PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER BRAKE DISC WAS RED FROM THE HEAT AND EMITTED SMOKE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED SIX TIMES ON DIFFERENT WHEELS. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT FOR THE WHEELS TO COOL DOWN IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN THE STEERING STARTED TO WOBBLE, SHIMMING. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX. 45 MPH AND HAD TO SLOW TO 20 BEFORE IT STOPPED. THIS PICK UP HAS HAD SMALL SHIMMING BEFORE BUT NOTHING THIS BAD. I JUST REPLACED THE SHOCKS AND HAD IT ALIGNED. IT SEEMS TO BE EVEN WORSE AND YES I HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE AT THE RECOMMENDED 80 PSI. IT IS DANGEREOUS. FORD SENT A LETTER APRIL 2009 09L02. THEY PRETTY MUCH SAID THE NHTSA WAS LOOKING INTO IT AND LIVE WITH IT. PLEASE HELP!

GETTING ON FREEWAY AND TRYING TO REACH AND MAINTAIN POSTED SPEED LIMIT. VEHICLE STARTED SPUTTERING THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I COULD NOT SAFELY MAINTAIN MY SPEED SO I HAD TO PUT FLASHER ON AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. I QUICKLY FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO TO LIMP HOME MODE SO WITH MY FLASHERS ON I PROCEEDED TO HEAD HOME WHICH WAS 40 MILES AWAY. I INDEED LIMPED MY VEHICLE HOME AS I COULD NOT MAINTAIN ANY POSTED SPEED LIMIT AND CREATED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR OTHER DRIVERS AS THEY WERE TRYING TO PASS AND GET AROUND ME. AFTER MAKING IT HOME I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT WITH A PUBLICATION DATE OF APRIL 27, 2011 TSB 11-4-22 6.4L LACKS POWER-DTC P0088. I PULLED MY ENGINE CODES AND I INDEED HAD THE P0088 CODE WHICH IS FUEL RAIL PRESSURE TOO HIGH. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THE GENTLEMAN PUT MY VIN# IN AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THAT KNOWN DEFECT FROM FORD. I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH AND THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. FORD HAS ADMITTED TO THE KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT BY CREATING THE TSB WITH THE PUBLICATION DATE OF APRIL 27, 2011
SUDDEN VEHICLE ACCELERATION DURING SLOWING/BRAKING. REGISTERED OVER 4000 RPM AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WITH BRAKES FULLY DEPRESSED AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP WHICH ALMOST LED TO A REAR END COLLISION. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO PARK AND ENGINE SLOWLY DECREASED FROM RACING AND WENT TO NORMAL RPM OPERATING RANGE AT IDLE WITHIN SECONDS. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F-350 P/U TRUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC TIRES (LT275/70R18 125/122S). THEY ONLY HAVE APPROX. 31K MILES ON THEM AND THE TREAD SHOWING SIGNS OF SEPARATION AS OUTLINED IN A RECALL DATED MARCH 11, 2011. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS, AND THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO AVOID. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THEY WILL BE HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THIS MATTER. PLEASE HELP! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE THE TRACK BAR BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. DURING ROUTINE SERVICE I NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR OF MY MICHELIN LTX AT2 LT275-70R18 TIRES ARE CRACKING BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE CENTER OF THE SIDE WALL, TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY ARE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. CONTACTED MICHELIN DIRECT, AND THEY ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THERE WEB SITE STATES THE TIRES HAVE A 6 YEAR WARRANTY AND A TREAD WARRANTY UP TO 2/32. TIRES HAVE 7/32 OF TREAD LEFT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT CRACKING SIDE WALLS ON THE SAME MICHELIN TIRE IN DIFFERENT SIZES. MICHELIN HAS A PROBLEM, THEY ARE JUST LOOKING THE OTHER WAY. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ONCE THE HOOD WAS OPENED, THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS CYCLING MORE THAN DESIGNED BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY CAUSING THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.

WHILE TURNING SHARP LEFT AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, THE TRUCK DID NOT WANT TO CORRECT BACK STRAIGHT. I FORCED IT BACK TO STRAIGHT AND CONTINUED ON. WHILE CONTINUING TO DRIVE, THE TRUCK WOULD TRACK LEFT AND THEN TRACK RIGHT. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL QUICKLY AND IT STRAIGHTENED BACK UP. LAKOTA TWO HORSE TRAILER WITH LIVING QUARTERS WITH HER SHOW HORSE IN THE BACK. THE UNEXPECTED HAPPEN WHILE SHE WAS ON MD-51N NEAR CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND HEADING ACROSS A BRIDGE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 1230PM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE ?PULL OVER SAFELY?. TWENTY SECONDS (20 SECONDS) LATER, THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. HORSE TRAILER WITH AN EXTRA 1000LBS IN THE BACK WITH A HORSE. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAITING FOR AAA TO COME TOW THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 1 HOURS, THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND SHE DROVE IT TO FORD CUMBERLAND, 10335 MT SAVAGE ROAD NW, CUMBERLAND, MD WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON WITH A POLICE ESCORT SINCE THE SHERIFF OF CUMBERLAND SAT WITH MY WIFE ON MD-51N WAITING ON AAA. THIS IS AFTER SHE WAS ALMOST HIT BY A FEDEX EIGHTEEN WHEELER DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION FOR A TRUCK AND HORSE TRAILER DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THE PROBLEM: EXHAUST SENSOR. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPAIR IT AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON WITH HER TRIP. HOW CAN THIS SENSOR GO OUT ON A TRUCK WITH ONLY 44,000 MILES ON IT? HOW CAN THEY DESIGN A TRUCK TO SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING? THE DEALERSHIP TOLD MY WIFE THEY HAVE SEEN THESE SENSORS GO OUT AT 20,000 MILES BEFORE. I HAVE SUBMITTED MY REQUEST FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED ON ALL 2008 FORD F350SD FOR THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAILURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUTDOWN. LOOKS AS THOUGH A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2012 FORD 6.7L AMBULANCE PACKAGES: F-350 ENGINE RECALL NUMBER: 13V535000 RECALL DATE: 10/30/2013 PROBLEM SUMMARY: FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 F-350/450/550 AMBULANCE PACKAGE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FEBRUARY 22, 2010, THROUGH OCTOBER 19, 2012 AND EQUIPPED WITH A 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE. DUE TO AN EXHAUST SENSOR PROBLEM, THE VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE STALL. CONSEQUENCE: AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALL INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. ADDITIONALLY, IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHEN THE AMBULANCE IS TRANSPORTING A PATIENT, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THE PATIENT. EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR WILL CAUSE A CRASH THAT MAY END UP KILLING SOMEONE. THIS IS WHAT FAILED ON MY WIFE WHO WAS PULLING A 28' HORSE TRAILER WITH HER SHOW HORSE INSIDE WORTH OVER $30,000 DOLLARS. SHE MERGED TO A ONE LANE ROAD ON INTERSTATE 68 IN MARYLAND HEADING DOWN HILL WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE SOON TO FOLLOW WITH A MESSAGE OF PULL OVER SAFELY. 20 SECONDS LATER, THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. THIS CAUSED HER TO LOSE POWER STEERING ON A ONE LANE ROAD GOING OVER A BRIDGE DOWN HILL PULLING A HORSE TRAILER WITH A GROSS WEIGHT OF OVER 10,000 POUNDS. SHE HAD NO WHERE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WHEN THE TRUCK SHUTDOWN ON HER. SHE HAD TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK IN ORDER TO MOVE THE BARRELS BLOCKING THE RIGHT LANE IN ORDER TO TRY AND GET THE TRUCK AND TRAILER OUT OF THE OPEN LANE. SHE HAD TO BLOCK AN EXIT IN ORDER TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE TRUCK WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN CUMBERLAND, MD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. AT NO TIME SHOULD A VEHICLE SHUTDOWN ON SOMEONE DRIVING IT. BELIEVE IT A VEHICLE GOING INTO A LIMP MODE BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT SO YOU CAN GET TO A SAFE PLACE. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THIS OCCURS AND ENFORCE FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75 WHEN THE TRUCK AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY, AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE IT PULLED SHARP TO THE LEFT TAKING THE VEHICLE ONTO THE MEDIAN. ONCE THE VEHICLE STOPPED, FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION I GOT OUT AND CHECKED THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL, IT WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH. I LET IT COOL AND THEN PROCEEDED TO THE NEAREST EXIT. I HAD THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL INSPECTED, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. I CONTINUED ON MY TRIP FROM TENNESSEE TO FLORIDA. ON THE RETURN TRIP THE PROBLEM HAPPENED THREE TIMES, EACH TIME I STOPPED AND LET THE WHEEL COOL BEFORE CONTINUING. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL OTHER INDIVIDUALS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE NTSB SHOULD REQUIRE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. I WAS DRIVING A F-F350 SD CREW CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH A TRUCK SHELL TOP APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD BEGAN TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE CORD, RESULTING IN THE TREAD THRASHING (APPROXIMATELY 6 REVOLUTIONS) THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL CAUSING EXTREME BODY DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL, BUMPER, UPPER TRUCK SHELL SLIDING WINDOW. THIS WAS A VERY VIOLENT EXPLOSION WHEN THE TREAD FINALLY SEPARATED AND FLEW OFF THE TIRE CORD. I THEN STOPPED THE VEHICLE, ASSESSED THE PROBLEM, RETRIEVED THE TIRE TREAD WHICH REMAINED INTACT, ALSO IN ONE PIECE...! AMAZINGLY, THE TIRE CORD REMAINED INTACT, STILL PRESSURIZED AND HOLDING AIR... AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP,WHO WERE NOT INITIALLY HELPFUL POINTING THE FINGER TO B.F. GOODRICH, WHO I DID CALLED AND I RECEIVED A RETURN PHONE CALL THE NEXT DAY. I THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, WHO REMOVED THE TIRE, AND PRESERVED THE TREAD AND TIRE, AND I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE B.F. GOODRICH REPRESENTATIVE TO SHIP THE TIRE FOR INSPECTION TO THEIR OFFICES. THE INITIAL INSPECTION AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS FOUND TO BE INCONCLUSIVE... AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE SEPARATION WAS CAUSED BY A ROAD HAZARD, WHICH IT WAS NOT, AND THEN I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO SHIP THE TIRE TO THEM FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION, AND WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE $3-$4K IN BODY DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. ON THE EVENING OF 6/13/2014, I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 FORD F-350 THROUGH THE DRIVE THROUGH LINE OF WHITE CASTLE IN COMMACK, NEW YORK, 11725. AS I WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN TO FOLLOW THE DRIVE THROUGH LANE, A HEARD A METAL BREAKING SOUND FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING. WITHIN LESS THAN 1 SECOND FROM THIS HAPPENING, MY VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A CINDER BLOCK WALL CAUSING SIGNIFICANT FRONT END DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER, FENDER AND HEADLIGHT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO MYSELF OR ANY PASSENGERS AS WELL AS THE WALL HAD MINIMAL DAMAGE. I HAD A POLICE REPORT FILED WITH THE SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE REPORT CORROBORATES MY STATEMENT OF COMPLETE STEERING LOSS AS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, NORTH SHORE FIRESTONE IN COMMACK. UPON INVESTIGATION THEY DETERMINED THE GEARS INSIDE OF THE STEERING BOX COMPLETELY FAILED. THEY COULD BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE DETAILING WHAT THE INTERNALS OF THE STEERING BOX LOOKED LIKE IF NEEDED. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THERE IS A 2 MONTH BACK LOG ON THE REPLACEMENT FOR THIS PART. BEING THAT THERE IS A REPLACEMENT BACKLOG, FORD MUST KNOW THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED TO STAND UP TO THE DIFFICULT TASK OF GETTING WHITE CASTLE! THIS FAILURE NOT ONLY CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK COSTING OVER $5,000, BUT THIS WILL CAUSE MY INSURANCE TO GO UP AS WELL. SHORTLY AFTER THE TRUCK IS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE A CONSTANT PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE CONTINUOUSLY EMITS FROM THE EXHAUST. FUEL ECONOMY HAS HAD A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS. DURING LOWER LEVELS (1/4 OR LOWER LEVELS OF DIESEL) OF FUEL CAPACITY THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND DIE UPON TAKE OFF. ATTEMPTING TO RESTART AFTERWARDS WAS VERY DIFFICULT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IF I HAD BEEN TOWING THE TRAILER ON A HILL I DREAD TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. TOWED THE VEHICLE TO ONE FORD DEALER, THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE EVEN THOUGH I FOUND THE PROBLEM ONLINE ( MANY F350 OWNERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE) AND THEY TOLD ME TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. I DID THAT, AND ABOUT A HALF HOUR DOWN THE ROAD IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOWED TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED ONE OF THE 4 EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSORS AND AFTER AN ABSURD $500 REPAIR BILL FOR AN $89 PART I WAS ON MY WAY. FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY KNOWN THIS IS A PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR PART NUMBER ON THESE SENSORS - THEY DID SOME SORT OF A REDESIGN REQUIRING A NEW PART NUMBER. I NOW CARRY A SPARE SENSOR WITH ME AT ALL TIMES AS WELL AS THE CORRECT SIZE WRENCH TO REPLACE IT. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A RECALL ISSUE SINCE IT IS BOTH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS SOMETHING THAT MANY OF US HAVE HAD. A SIMPLE ONLINE SEARCH FINDS MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME STORY. FAILURE OF FLEXIBLE JOINT IN THE EXHAUST UP-PIPE CREATES A FATAL SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVING ON A CORNER ONRAMP THE TRUCK'S POWER STEERING GAVE OUT AND THE VEHICLE BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING RETURNED. TIRE BLEW-UP ON RIGHT FRONT CAUSING IN EXCESS OF $3,000 TO TRUCK, RIM AND SIDE BOARD. TYPE OF VEHICLE IS A FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY DUAL WHEEL CREW CAB. WE HAVE USED BF GOODRICH FOR YEARS UNTIL INCIDENT #2 ON MAY 20,2013. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED APPROX.$2,600.00 ON RIGHT REAR, INNER TIRE BLOW-OUT. THE TIRE ACTUALLY THREW THE ENTIRE TREAD OFF LEAVING THE BELTS ON TOP OF THE INNER TIRE. PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT, WE INSPECTED VISUALLY ALL TIRES TO MEET D.O.T REQUIREMENTS. ESTIMATING TREAD WEAR,ETC, WE FEEL THIS TIRE STILL HAD AROUND 7000 TO 10000 MILES BEFORE BARS WOULD SHOW. WE HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE TIRE BEFORE SENDING TO BF GOODRICH. A STATEMENT FROM THE DRIVER IS AVAILABLE. THE TIRE STARTED MAKING A "THUMP" SOUND RIGHT BEFORE COMING APART. I HAVE MY DOUBTS THIS COMPANY WILL REPLACE ANY TIRE(S) OR ASSUME ANY DAMAGES. IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE MORE SEVERE CASES BEFORE THERE IS A RECALL OR DAMAGES ACCEPTED BY BF GOODRICH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER ERRATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE IN ANY OF THE OCCASIONS. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR, TIRES AND THE STEERING STABILIZER FAILED, ALL WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN SEEMINGLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
