TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 FORD F-350 SD, EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN TIRES, TIRE LINE: LTX MS/2, TIRE SIZE: 245/75/R17, DOT NUMBER: B74345 (PARTIAL). THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT AND THE STEERING CEASED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE TIRE WAS OVER THE WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIOD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
NITTO DURA GRAPPLER 245/75R/17 FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW CAUSING VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO GUARD RAILING ON INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON I-75 SB NEAR MM 181 APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL. ON MARCH 6,2015 I HAD ANOTHER TIRE BLOW AND I FILED A NITTO CLAIM NUMBER 804190 (THROUGH THE TIRE DEALERSHIP). I RECEIVED FROM NITTO THE SAME TIRE IN EXCHANGE. EVEN THOUGHT THIS TYPE OF TIRE WAS RECALLED ON SAFERCAR.GOV ON NOVEMBER 4, 2015. WHY WAS IT REPLACED BY NITTO WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE TIRE??? NOW MY VEHICLE IS TOTALED!

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TIRE TREAD DETACHED FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,335 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F-350 P/U TRUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC TIRES (LT275/70R18 125/122S). THEY ONLY HAVE APPROX. 31K MILES ON THEM AND THE TREAD SHOWING SIGNS OF SEPARATION AS OUTLINED IN A RECALL DATED MARCH 11, 2011. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS, AND THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO AVOID. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THEY WILL BE HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THIS MATTER. PLEASE HELP! *TR
DURING ROUTINE SERVICE I NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR OF MY MICHELIN LTX AT2 LT275-70R18 TIRES ARE CRACKING BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE CENTER OF THE SIDE WALL, TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY ARE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. CONTACTED MICHELIN DIRECT, AND THEY ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THERE WEB SITE STATES THE TIRES HAVE A 6 YEAR WARRANTY AND A TREAD WARRANTY UP TO 2/32. TIRES HAVE 7/32 OF TREAD LEFT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT CRACKING SIDE WALLS ON THE SAME MICHELIN TIRE IN DIFFERENT SIZES. REPORTING BF GOODRICH COMMERCIAL TA TIRES: SIZE 245R7517 THIS IS THE 2ND INCIDENT INVOLVING THE BF GOODRICH TIRES ON THE SAME VEHICLE. 1ST ACCIDENT (2012) ... TIRE BLEW-UP ON RIGHT FRONT CAUSING IN EXCESS OF $3,000 TO TRUCK, RIM AND SIDE BOARD. TYPE OF VEHICLE IS A FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY DUAL WHEEL CREW CAB. WE HAVE USED BF GOODRICH FOR YEARS UNTIL INCIDENT #2 ON MAY 20,2013. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED APPROX.$2,600.00 ON RIGHT REAR, INNER TIRE BLOW-OUT. THE TIRE ACTUALLY THREW THE ENTIRE TREAD OFF LEAVING THE BELTS ON TOP OF THE INNER TIRE. AFTER CALLING BF GOODRICH, THEY CLAIM NO OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED OR REGISTERED WITH THE 17" BF GOODRICH COMMERCIAL TA AND I WOULD HAVE TO SEND THE TIRE TO THEM FOR LAB INSPECTION. PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT, WE INSPECTED VISUALLY ALL TIRES TO MEET D.O.T REQUIREMENTS. ESTIMATING TREAD WEAR,ETC, WE FEEL THIS TIRE STILL HAD AROUND 7000 TO 10000 MILES BEFORE BARS WOULD SHOW. WE HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE TIRE BEFORE SENDING TO BF GOODRICH. A STATEMENT FROM THE DRIVER IS AVAILABLE. THE TIRE STARTED MAKING A "THUMP" SOUND RIGHT BEFORE COMING APART. I HAVE MY DOUBTS THIS COMPANY WILL REPLACE ANY TIRE(S) OR ASSUME ANY DAMAGES. IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE MORE SEVERE CASES BEFORE THERE IS A RECALL OR DAMAGES ACCEPTED BY BF GOODRICH. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 DIESEL. WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEGAN TO SLIGHTLY VIBRATE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE RIM, THERE WAS SIX INCHES OF THE TIRE RIM BEAD THAT WAS FRACTURED FROM THE RIM OF THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WHEEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. RT READ TIRE INNER BELT BROKE CAUSE DANGEROUS SHIMMY IN THE READ END OF MY PICK UP. RT FRONT TIRE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF SPLITTING FROM THE SIDEWALL AS WELL AS THE LF READ TIRE. TIRES HAVE 12, 038 MILES ON THEM. CONTINENTAL REFUSES TO REPLACE THEM BECAUSE THE DOT #'S DO NOT MATCH "THEIR" RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE TIRES ARE EXHIBITING THE SAME MALFUNCTIONS. THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT 20" ALLOY RIM MOUNTED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY DEVELOPED A STRESS FRACTURE THAT WHEN IN MOTION AND SUPPORTING THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, OPENS AND CLOSES WITH EACH ROTATION OF THE WHEEL, CAUSING AIR PRESSURE TO VENT AND THE TIRE TO GO FLAT AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING. THE FRACTURE DOES NOT VENT WHEN THE WHEEL IS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE OR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WITH NO STRESS ON THE FRACTURED AREA. THE FRACTURE IS NOT CAUSED BY ACCIDENT OR ABUSE. IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT TOOK SEVERAL YEARS TO DEVELOP INTO A DETECTABLE FAULT. STRESS FRACTURES OF THIS TYPE ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THEY ARE POTENTIALLY CAPABLE OF 100% FAILURE AT VEHICULAR SPEED, RESULTING IN RIM FAILURE AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *TR

2008 FORD F 350 FX4 EQUIPPED WITH FORD'S PREMIUM WHEELS, THE PLASTIC FULL SIZE WHEEL COVERS ARE FALLING OFF OF THE WHEELS THAT THEY ARE ATTACHED TO. THE TAPE THAT HOLDS THE PLASTIC WHEEL COVERTO THE STEEL WHEEL IS FAILING. I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE WHEEL COVERS WILL FLY OFF AND HIT SOMEONE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR INJURIES. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THESE WHEEL COVERS. 1 COVER HAS ALREADY FALLEN OFF AND THE OTHER 3 ARE BECOMING LOOSE LIKE THE FIRST. I CALLED FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER AND HAD THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER. I HAD A CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC LT 245/75R17 121/118S TIRE WHICH DEVELOPED 5 CRACKS IN SIDE OF TREAD. WHILE DRIVING F350 TRUCK, ONE CRACK TOTALLY SEPARATED CAUSING INSTANT DEFLATION OF FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 21,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WHEN I PURCHASE TRUCK NEW IN FEB 2008. *TR
1. ON JULY 8TH 2009 WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM TEXAS AT THE POSTED SPEED WE EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION. I CHECKED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR ANY PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT. SECONDS AFTER THE RIGHT SIDE REAR TIRE EXPLODED AND PULLED THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT AS I FOUGHT TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND BRING IT TO A STOP. THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO RIGHT QUARTER PANEL AS WELL AS THE EXHAUST. WE RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE DAMAGE AND REPLACED THE CONTINENTAL TIRE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OF THE REMAINING TIRES AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK AND ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ONLY HAD 12K MILES. 2. ON 2/12/10 WHILE DRIVING TO CAL. AGAIN @ POSTED SPEED AND NO LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT ON. THE SAME CONDITIONS AS ABOVE ONLY TOWING A FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. WE EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION AND WITH IN SECONDS THE LEFT REAR TIRE EXPLODED AND AGAIN THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT QUARTER PANEL. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO BRING THE RIG TO A STOP WITH OUT ROLLING OR CAUSING INJURY OR FATALITY. AGAIN I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER ON 2/14/10 AND THEIR IT SITS TO THIS DAY 3/17/10 AND NOTHING BUT EXCUSES. *TR
