My car shuts off during long drives and carries the same behaviors of a car with a failing fuel pump.
The fuel pump is failing and stalls when driving.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed a strong fuel odor around the exterior of the vehicle. In addition, the contact noticed a strong fuel odor on the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump assembly and filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was unclear if the failure was due to a fuel leak. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,379.
Lean fuel code All lights come on -on dashboard Coming on and off
The vehicle had a light for emissions. Brought to Honda dealer. Charged me for two diagnosis fees. The tank / neck and fuel pump all rusted out at connection. No rust under or on the vehicle. Obviously the manufacturer has poor quality tank. This does not happen on 8 yr old vehicle and they want $4500 to fix.
There is an active recall on the fuel pump for Honda Civics. My car fits within the range of time of manufacture, but my VIN does not appear with any recalls. The vehicle shakes when starting and will stall most of the time. I can turn it off and turn it back on and the car will start okay, but if I accelerate too quickly or drive too fast or for too long the engine will stall. I have been driving on the highway before and the engine stalls and I have to pull over. The car can be turned off and started again okay, but it’s a safety concern when it happens randomly on the highway with plenty of other cars around.
My transmission light has been on for over a year. After visiting to private mechanics- diagnostic testing from both confirm an EVAP leak. They did smoke tests and nothing came back. After visiting credit karma. Under property, as I own my vehicle it states that there is a “Fuel system, gasoline: delivery: fuel pump recall” documented on March 29, 2024. After contacting Honda directly they have stated that my VIN is not under the recall. After fueling up at the gas station. My vehicle inside and outside smells of gasoline for over 2-3 days. Which is not the norm. I’m pregnant and this is extremely dangerous. I am not going to bring my vehicle into a dealership to be told what I already know and be charged.
SMALL EVAP LEAK AROUND FUEL TANK AND FUEL PUMP SEALING SURFACE. TOP OF FUEL TANK IS RUSTED CAUSING PUMP TO NOT SEAL FULLY.
Found the metal ring in the top of gas tank rusted a hole through the top of the tank. Inspected by Honda Service Center. Found through emissions warning light. This is a safety risk from a No Good part
2016 HONDA CIVIC FUEL DOOR ACTUATOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE WHEN LOCKING. I AM TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALER THAT THE PROBLEM IS COMMON ON CIVICS 2016 THRU 2019 AND ON ACCORDS OF THE SAME YEARS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE FORWARD AND HITS 10 MPH AND WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE KEYFOB IS PUSHED.
I HAD AN ENGINE LIGHT ON ON 8/5/2918 CALL DEALER SHIP TO SET AN APPOINTMENT ON 8/6/2018. ADVICE FOUND FTC P2422 EVAP CVS STUCK CLOSED INDICATING FTP SENSOR AND CANISTER MALFUNCTION, CANISTER TO MALFUNCTIONING DUE TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL ARE WHERE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AND PARK. DUST AND DIRT WILL COLLECT AND CLOG THE SYSTEM. . THIS HAPPENS ON SEP/2017 . 1ST TIME WAS COVER BY MANUFACTURE NOT THIS TIME I GOT EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 6 YEARS THEY SAID NO, CAUSE WAS SAME PROBLEM WITHIN A YEAR AND WAS NOT A MANAFUCTURE DEFECT. I CALLED AMERICA HONDA THEY AGREE TO PAY ONE MORE TIME ONLY OUT OF WARRANTY. BUT THIS IS GOING BE AT NO ENDING PROBLEM FOR ME, I HAVE A CAP LESS ON GAS TANK WHICH IS NOT SEALING RIGHT AND MAIN PROBLEM CAUSING ALL DUST AND DIRT GETTING IN. THEY SAID THE DUST WASN'T GETTING THEY GAS TANK, BUT THEY'RE NOT ABLE TO TELL ME HOWDUST AND DIRT GETTING INTO THE CANISTER. I WANT THIS TO GET IVASTIGATED BECAUSE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, I NEVER GOT A DISCLAIMER SAYING IF I DRIVE CAR ON DUST OR DIRT WILL BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, YEAR AFTER YEAR, THE COST OF $700.00 PLUS $100.00 FOR DIAGNOSING, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. PLEASE HELP ME.
THE SENSOR OF THE GAS TANK (I MEAN CAPKESS SENSOR) FAIL TO STOP WHEN FINISH TO FILL IT UP WITH GASOLINE, PRODUCING THE GAS TO COMING OUT AND THERE'S 100% OF 🔥 FIRE AT THE GAS STATION CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MANY PEOPLE IN THE GAS STATION. THIS RISK NEVER HAPPEN WITH MY CR-V 2009 AND NISSAN SENTRA 2009.
FUEL LEAKS OUT OF THE CAP LESS SYSTEM WHEN FILLING GAS. AMOUNT OF FUEL VARIES. CALLED HONDA AND GOT NO HELP. THERE IS AN EXISTING DOCUMENT ON NHTSA WEBSITE, BUT NO UPDATES FROM HONDA. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JULY 2016. HTTPS://STATIC.NHTSA.GOV/ODI/TSBS/2016/MC-10086567-2280.PDF SEVERAL USERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE IN FORUMS: HTTPS://WWW.CIVICX.COM/THREADS/FUEL-OVERFILL-HONDA-IS-AWARE-AND-WORKING-ON-IT.7079/ HTTPS://WWW.CIVICX.COM/THREADS/ANYBODY-HAVING-PROBLEMS-WITH-CAP-LESS-GAS-TANK.5331/PAGE-3
CAPLESS GAS TANK ALWAYS BACKFLOWS AND SPILLS GAS ONTO THE CAR IF I WAIT FOR THE GAS PUMP TO AUTO SHUT OFF. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY OF THE OLDER CARS I HAVE OWNED. TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING NOW I MANUALLY STOP THE GAS PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL.
WHEN REFUELING MY CIVIC THERE IS A 50/50 CHANCE IT WILL OVER FULE AND NOT STOP THE GAS PUMP. SOMETIMES GASOLINE WILL OVERFILL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT TO THE GROUND. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS TWICE, BOTH TIMES BEING TOLD HONDA IS AWARE AND INVESTIGATING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE WERE TO DISCARD A CIGARETTE, AND CATCH THAT GASOLINE THAT OVERFILLED AND SPILLED OUT OF THE CAR ON FIRE?
DAILY MAYBE A FEW TIMES A DAY WHEN I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP THE CAR HESITATES FOR 1-3 SECONDS BEFORE THE THROTTLE RESPONDS. THIS IS POSSIBLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF PULLING AWAY WHEN THERE IS A LIMITED OPENING TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION IT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS. I'M WONDERING IF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AS MY 2015 HONDA CIVIC WITH CVT ALSO HAD THIS ISSUE FROM TIME TO TIME. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS DAILY AND USUALLY IN THE MORNING ON A LEFT TURN ABOUT 3/4 MILE FROM MY HOME. USUALLY AT THE SAME CORNER DAILY IN THE MORNING BUT IT DOES HAPPEN AT OTHER TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND I THINK IT MAY BE MORE COMMON NOT LONG AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE AFTER HAVING BEEN SITTING FOR A BIT. I LOVE HONDA'S AND HAVE HAD MANY OF THEM BUT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND RESOLVED!
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE IT LEAKS THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I LEASED THE VEHICLE AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE IT NOW POURS OUT AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN FUELING IS COMPLETE. I HAVE A VIDEO
WHEN REFUELING THROUGH THE CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM IN CALIFORNIA GAS SPILLS OUT WHEN THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF. I'VE REFUELED FIVE TIMES SO FAR AND EACH TIME IT HAPPENS, NO MATTER WHAT ORIENTATION I HAVE THE PUMP OR HOW FAR IT'S PUSHED IN. THERE IS A THREAD ON A HONDA FORUM WITH OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS HERE: HTTP://WWW.CIVICX.COM/THREADS/FUEL-OVERFILL.1505/
