This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2001-2002 Acura 3.2CL, 2000-2003 Acura 3.5RL, 2000-2001 Acura 3.2TL, Honda CR-V and Honda Odyssey, 2001-2002 Acura MDX and 2000 Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Coupe, and Civic Sedan vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement NADI inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.
Remedy Status
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the air bags in the vehicles, replacing the driver frontal air bag inflator with an inflator of a different design, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138.
Driver seat belt keeps releasing by itself. I put on my seat belt and then it pops open. I haven’t been in any accidents but it’s scares me that it can just release easily therefore no providing me with any protection. I have not taking it in to be reviewed but it has happened multiple times
My driver seat belt keeps unlatching . It happens to often. I know there was a previous recall for it but everytime I look it up it doesn’t show on the website. I previously reported here I think last year. Also when shows as an error on the obd reader. As a failing seat belt system recall. My insurance company shows the driver air bag is recalled but again when I look it up here . You list no information about these recalls and it’s scary since both are critical.

HONDA SENT AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" TO ME. IT STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE ARE NOT AVAILABLE. IT SAID NO ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN BY ME UNTIL PARTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE. I CALLED HONDA WHOSE REPRESENTATIVE STATED: 1) THE NOTICE REALLY WASN'T VERY IMPORTANT AND WAS ONLY ISSUED TO MEET A NHTSA REQUIREMENT. 2) THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN THREE INCIDENTS AND THOSE INVOLVED DERELICT CARS IN SCRAP YARDS. 3) MOST AFFECTED VEHICLES WOULD ONLY REQUIRE INSPECTION AND NOT A REPLACEMENT PART. THERE HAVE BEEN WIDESPREAD PRESS REPORTS OF A FATALITY AND AN INJURY CAUSED BY THIS DEFECT. HTTPS://WWW.CNBC.COM/2019/12/04/TAKATA-RECALLS-1POINT4-MILLION-POTENTIALLY-DANGEROUS-AIR-BAG-INFLATORS.HTML THE ABSENCE OF PARTS DOES NOT PREVENT AN INSPECTION. THAT INSPECTION WOULD TELL ME IF MY CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. PLEASE COMPEL HONDA TO CARRY OUT INSPECTIONS REGARDLESS OF THE AVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. IN THE EVENT THE CAR IS FOUND UNSAFE, PLEASE COMPEL HONDA TO PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. *TR

I RECEIVED MAIL STATING MY AIRBAG COULD KILL ME IF IT'S NOT REPLACED. IT'S BEEN 90 DAYS SINCE I GOT THAT CORRESPONDENCE. IT SAID 60 DAYS I WOULD HEAR BACK AGAIN BECAUSE HONDA DOESN'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER AND I FEEL AS IF HONDA DOESN'T CARE SINCE IT'S BEEN 30 DAYS BEYOND WHAT I WAS TOLD AND STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT FIXED. *TR
