We had a recent onset of issues with our 2017 Tucson Limited Ultimate that is alarming and potentially dangerous. I am most concerned with the safety of my wife and child as this is her primary vehicle. We have a new issue, relating to the door locks - that I would like to address, but would like to give the recent history or events before I get to that. We recently addressed a recall relating to a brake module - a potential fire hazard, as well as failed Turbo that caused a sudden loss of power at a critical time. This could have been a potential wreck, but thankfully it was avoided. Now we are at another safety issue that needs to be addressed with the door locks. This is concerning, inconvenient, and most likely not covered as a recall as it should be. Around 6 months ago there was a sudden power loss and whistling sound from the engine compartment. This happened while entering a turn in a busy intersection, which could have caused an accident. I took it to the dealer, and the problem was diagnosed as a faulty Turbo Charger and required order and replacement. Luckily this was covered on the warranty. The problem was resolved. Then I received a notification of a recall for the Brake Control Module because of the potential of fire in the engine compartment. I scheduled an appointment at my local dealer and had that replaced at no additional cost to me. My local dealership was about to resolve this issue as well. Today, I went to take my daughter to school and the rear passenger door would not open from the outside or the inside. The door lock clicks, but we are not able to exit the vehicle from that side or open the door from the outside. Upon researching on the internet, it's a ongoing issue with the door actuator. https://www.hyundai-forums.com/threads/rear-passenger-door-wont-open.603329/ I scheduled an appointment for Monday, but it is again, a safety issue, and this will not be covered and most likely cost me out of pocket. Can you help?
I have had an ongoing issue with my 2017 Hyundai Tucson since May 17, 2021. Like many other owners, I have recently learned about the recall on engines for the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. In the information with the announcement of the recall, the article stated, “The issue has caused at least 18 fires, but no injuries, according to documents from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration”. I wanted to know if my vehicle was one of these 18 fires? If it was, I would like to know that I will be covered under this recall, and the engine in my vehicle will be replaced. I can begin to be reimbursed for the $1,000s of car rentals that I was told would be reimbursed before my warranty claim was denied. If it is not one of those 18 cars? Why not? I will give more information below on what happened to me and my car. Through further research, Attachment A on the NHTSA website states that “As of the date of this filing, Hyundai is aware of 45 fires related to the recall condition”. Once again, I ask if my vehicle is on this list? If not- why was it not after the engine fire and the below happenings occurred to me in May 2021. Happenings On May 17, 2021, I was driving home from work on Interstate 195 in New Jersey. My check engine light came on the previous week, and I immediately brought my car into an auto body to receive an oil change and a 25 point maintenance inspection. But, unfortunately, the check engine light went off. While traveling on the freeway at approximately 65 - 70 miles per hour, I could feel my acceleration beginning to get slower and slower and harder to use. I was pressing entirely on the accelerator, and the car continued to go slower Suddenly, the acceleration stopped completely, and all the lights on the dashboard went on. I noticed smoke started to appear from under the hood and from the tail of the vehicle. After nearly being hit by another car, I was barely able to get into the shoulder. I just so happened to break down on the part of
HYUNDAI TUCSON 2.0L (NU GDI) IS LEAKING ENGINE OIL BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISION. VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY HAD THE SAME CONDITION AND IT WAS SENT TO DEALERSHIP AROUND NOVEMBER 2019, THEY REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION AND INSTALLED A NEW CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL. PREVIOUS OIL CHANGE MAINTENTANCE WAS DONE BY A HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T NOTIFY THE ISSUE. NOW WHEN I CHECKED THE ENGINE AND TOUCHED THE AREA, I GOT ENGINE OIL. NOW I WILL CHECK HOW I CAN SEND THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH THE WARRANTY OF THE CAR BECAUSE IF I GO TO ANOTHER HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECK THAT THE CAR WASN'T BOUGHT WITH THEM, THEY GIME ME A EXTREMELLY LONG DATE TO CHECK THE CAR AFTER THAT THEY WON'T FIX. ALSO THEY DON'T LIKE TO GET WARRANTY CLAIMS OR RECALLS DURING WEEKENDS. AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND COMPLETED THE WARRANTY CLAIM (CRANKSHAFT SEAL) HAS CHANGED THE OWNERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT THE CAR RECORDS DOESN'T APPEAR IN THEIR SYSTEMS. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
The Turbo is going out which causes the vehicle not to accelerate. The repair shop also mentioned if the Turbo goes out completely it will cause engine damage.
2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON, ALERTS DRIVER THAT THE REAR LEFT BRAKE BULB IS BAD. BUT WHEN THE LAMP IS REMOVED THE BULB LOOKS DARK BUT THE INSIDE LEADS AREN'T BROKEN. BUT THE BULB SOCKET LOOKS LIKE BURNED. CAR HAS ONLY 49,263MILES
DOOR SMART KEY BUTTON HAS BROKEN (DRIVER'S & FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR) USER IS UNABLE TO LOCK/UNLOCK THE CAR. USER MUST USE THE BEEPER OR KEY TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE CAR. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND THE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN FORCED BY SOMEONE BECAUSE IS VERY EASY TO STEAL. WENT TO ANOTHER PLACE AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT THE BUTTON BROKE FROM USAGE NOT BY FORCING IT TO ENTER THE CAR AND PART IS VERY WEAK. VEHICLE HAS BEEN INDOORS AND OTHER VEHICLES DOESN'T. CAR COMPANY COULD KNEW THE ISSUE AS THE NEW REDESIGNED MODEL HAS A TOUCHSCREEN HANDLE TO UNLOCK.LOCK THE CAR.
Door lock actuators have failed causing the doors including driver's door not to be able to be opened. Researched online and there are numerous instances of this defect.
I own a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While trying to get my elderly Grandmother out of the backseat to her appointment the rear drivers side door failed and would not open. After multiple attempts trying to open from outside and inside my ninety year old Grandmother had to maneuver herself to get out of the other door. This is a safety issue and Hyundai needs to address it. I have spoke with multiple Hyundai owners whom have experienced the same problem. What if there was an emergency/fire and no access to an available door??? I’m unsure if my service warranty will cover it, I’m scheduled to have it replaced but of course Hyundai is out weeks for appointments. With growing concern and thousands with the same problem this needs to be addressed immediately!

2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM SAFETY RECALL. *LD *JS
RECALL LETTER HASN'T BEING RECEIVED. DOES APPLY TO MY MODEL. FRIENDS HAVE THE SAME CAR AND RECEIVED A CAR. BY CHECKING VIN NUMBER VEHICLE HAS BEEN ASSEMBLED ON THE SAME LINE AS MY TUCSON.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNLOCKED. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IF THERE'S AN EMERGENCY AND A PERSON NEEDS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THEY ARE UNABLE TO WITHOUT CLIMBING SEATS.
When accelerating from a stopped position, the car will sometimes not move forward or will sometimes surge forward at high speed or will at other times move forward but will do so in a jerky uncontrolled manner. Been trying to get the dealer to fix this but I'm told this condition is normal. There's no way this is normal! When pulling onto a busy highway I never know if the car will respond to acceleration of not move for several seconds. This car is dangerous and I feel that it's only a matter of time that I will be in an accident because of this condition.
My vehicle was not on the recall list and very much should have been. When I am at a complete stop and hit the gas pedal the vehicle rev up and hardly moves and then all of a sudden it will kick in and go... This is a BIG Safety Issue especially when you are at a light and or getting ready to turn or head into on coming traffic. Someone could die or get seriously injured. This is a HUGH Safety concern Still! I cannot repeat it enough. Its a very scary situation. Also when I am at a light or in traffic and start to slow down and just slowly go, the vehicle starts to shutter, like you can hear the dashboard/ front end shake. My Vehicle only has 56,000 miles.
My motor died. All oil changes were made and still the motor died. No lights were present before the motor died. Car started ticking then died en route to dealership for observation ultimately had to be towed.
THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR MY VEHICLE TO FIX / REPLACE PARTS AS A GLITCH WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FIRE (HYUNDAI RECALL 195). I WAS TOLD WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 5 MONTHS BEFORE THEY COULD FIX IT.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE EVEN THOUGH THE LOCK/UNLOCK SEEMS TO BE FUNCTIONING. IT HAPPENED RANDOMLY.
LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, DOOR LOCKS WORK BUT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE.
We bought our 2017 Tucson with about 40000 miles in 2019. We have had some issues that are to be covered by the warranty. The last was the engine going. I was extremely religious about regular maintenance and always took it to the dealership to have the oil changed and other work every 3000. 2 of the last 4 oil changes cost me over $400 and $600 due to what I thought was work required to maintain the warranty, finding out later that this was false and the service people lied. In the last 4 oil changed I reported excessive oil consumption, 1 qt per 1000 miles at least. They told me this was normal and to be expected. I was 4 hours in to a 8 hour drive when the engine failed. I had checked and filled the oil before I left, in 4 hours it consumed over 3qts. It took me at least a month of dealing with the warranty company to cover as we had a lifetime powertrain warranty. They were not going to cover it due to lack of lubricant. As I told them the engine was failing before this incident. The dealer did not record my requests to find the oil consumption problem. It has now been 4 months, still making car payments and waiting for them to put a used engine in it. We were not offered a choice of whether used or rebuild. This is a known problem and have found class action suits for similar vehicles but for whatever reason earlier and later models are included, same engine and same problem as those part of the class action.

Not to long after I purchased the car I have to put oil in the car every 4 to 5 weeks.Sometimes the motor sounds like it’s going to blow. The car slows down and sounds loud.Never once has a oil light turned on.When I checked the oil it doesn’t appear on the stick.
I am having a problem with my engine consuming oil. I also had loss of power in the engine when I was pulling out on a highway which was very dangerous. I took the car back to the dealership and they replaced the whole exhaust system and said it was dirty. I had another part replaced last year that they told me was dirty due to oil. I have taking the car back to the dealership for oil consumption test and the engine is still consuming oil. It is dangerous to drive because the engine can seize or I can lose power on the road. I have been in touch with Hyundai corporation many times and nothing is being done. my car has been brought in to the dealership six times since October last year due to this issue. The dealership told me that they are replacing engines but they are refusing to replace mine. They admitted there is a defect in these engines.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER CAR UP A HILL ON HWY 2 AND IT SLOWED TO A STOP. SHE PULLED OVER AND IT STARTED SMOKING. THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED HER CAR. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
TRAVELING WITH WIFE AND INFANT WESTBOUND 210 FREEWAY IN PASADENA, CA. AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WIFE AND I HEARD A CONTINUOUS, MUFFLED CLICKING SOUND FOR 20-30 SECONDS. I FELT A SLIGHT LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, AT WHICH POINT, I BEGAN MAKING MY WAY FROM THE HOV LANE TO EXIT. WHILE MOVING OVER, I SAW A PUFF OF LIGHT GRAY SMOKE FROM THE REAR FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY SIMILAR SMOKE AND THEN SOME FLAMES FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TO NO ENGINE POWER AT THIS TIME AS I CAME TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER, PLACED IT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AS WE STOPPED, THE FLAMES BECAME MUCH GREATER. WE WERE ALL ABLE TO QUICKLY EXIT AND GET TO A SAFE DISTANCE. AS AN ASIDE, WE HAD ONLY DAYS BEFORE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS VEHICLE FROM HYUNDAI TO ADDRESS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE SPONTANEOUS, NON-COLLISION ENGINE FIRES. I HAD NOT HAD OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE IT IN YET.
BACK RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH 16-17 TUCSON'S HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT I DON'T KNOW HOW SOMEONE COULD BE HELPED OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT CUTTING THE DOOR OFF. YOU CAN'T GET IN OR OUT THROUGH THAT DOOR VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM EXISTS WHETHER ENGINE IS ON OR OFF.

ON MARCH 18, 2021 I TOOK MY 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON INTO TITUS WILL OF OLYMPIA WASHINGTON IN TO GET THE 98HYZ CAMPAIGN DONE IS THE ABS KIT PUT IN. EVERY SINCE THEN MY MOTOR HAS BEEN MAKING A TICKING NOISE. WHICH IT HAS NEVER MADE BEFORE. IT GETS LOUDER WHEN IT GOES INTO DRIVE. MY COMPLAINT IS I'M WONDERING IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE GOT THE SAME COMPLAINT AFTER GETTING THIS WIRING KIT INSTALLED. AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE. I'M TAKING IT BACK HERE NOT APRIL 7, 2021 TO HAVE THEM FIX IT CORRECTLY.
I HAVE BEEN GETTING RECALL NOTICES FOR MY 2017 TUCSON SINCE DECEMBER 2020 FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) BUT AM UNABLE TO GET IT FIXED. ACCORDING TO CALLS I MADE IN DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND MARCH, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. IT'S RECALL NUMBER 20V-543 HYUNDAI RECALL NUMBER 195. I FINALLY GOT AN APPOINTMENT WITH HYUNDAI IN BROKEN ARROW OK FOR MARCH16TH AS THEY REPORTED PARTS HAD JUST COME IN. TOOK MY HYUNDAI IN AT APPOINTED TIME, WAS TOLD THEY ARE OUT OF PARTS AND WILLLCALL WHEN THEY CAN MAKE REPAIRS. MEANWHILE, THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS IT'S SAFE TO PARK IN MY GARAGE AND THE ABS MODULES COULD CORRODE AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WHICH WOULD INCREASE ODDS OF AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THEY HAVE NO CARS TO LOAN ME UNTIL IT IS FIXED. I DRIVE MY GRANDCHILDREN AROUND AND THIS SEEMS IRRESPONSIBLE ON HYUNDAI'S PART AND UNSAFE ON MY PART. IN ADDITION, THE PARTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HELD FOR ME SINCE I HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT DONE WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. NOW I'M BACK ON SOME WAITING LIST...........I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD THE NOTICES.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT STATES I MUST PARK OUTSIDE DUE TO A FIRE HAZARD. I CALL TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND I AM INFORMED THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO GET THEM.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to several dealers. The last dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. Additionally, the RPM was fluctuating. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
THE REAR DIRVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN UNLOCKED. THE LOCKING MECHANISIM WORKS FINE, BUT THE HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR THE HANDLE. SOMETIMES IT WILL OPEN FROM THE INSIDE BUT IS NOT CONSISTANT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I HAVE A TODDLER THAT RIDES IN THE BACK SEAT DAILY. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO QUICKLY GET HIM OUT OF THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IF THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN? THIS IS VERY SCARY TO THINK THAT I COULDNT REMOVE MY CHILD FROM THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY. PLEASE HAVE HYUNDAI MAKE THIS RIGHT!
VEHICLE IS 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON WITH JUST UNDER 60,000 MILES ON IT. MAINTAINED WITH REGULAR OIL AND FILTER CHANGES. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE 4 DAYS AGO, A RATTLING NOISE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. WHEN COMING TO A STOP, VEHICLE STARTED TO ALMOST STALL, THEN ENGINE AND RPMS RACED, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS. CALLED THE DEALER THAT IT WAS PURCHASED FROM TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND SCHEDULE OIL CHANGE SERVICE THAT IT WAS JUST ABOUT DUE FOR, A RECALL TO BE DONE AND HAVE THE ISSUE LOOKED AT. APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK, BUT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE APPOINTMENT. YESTERDAY, I DROVE MOST OF THE DAY WITH NO ISSUES, THEN SUDDENLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP, STARTED HEARING A RATTLING AND KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE REALLY BAD. VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL, STILL NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON. VEHICLE DID NOT STALL AND STARTED GOING AGAIN UNTIL I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AT ANOTHER STOP SIGN. OIL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ERRATICALLY, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CALLED DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE, THEY HAD ME CONTACT HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE ADVISOR, BEFORE EVEN HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT, STATED THAT IT'S GOING TO NEED A NEW ENGINE, AS IF THEY ARE ALREADY AWARE OF THE ISSUES CONCERNING THESE VEHICLES.
DOOR OPERATION WAS WORKING FINE. THEN AFTER A TRIP UNLOCKED AND WALKED AROUND CAR TO REMOVE MY FIVE YEAR OLD AND DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. LOCK ENGAGES, HOWEVER DOOR WILL NOT UNLATCH.

THE PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE LOCKED ITSELF. CANNOT BE OPENED FROM EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. IT IS SAFETY CONCERN SINCE I CAN'T PUT CHILD LOCK ON THE OTHER PASSENGER SIDE JUST INCASE IT LOCKS ITSELF TOO. MY CHILD IS NOT SAFE
REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR NO LONGER OPENS WHEN "UNLOCKED". SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS RIDING IN THE BACK, LIKE MY TODDLER. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE IGNITION ON AND CHILD IN THE ADJACENT SEAT. AFTER MANY TRIES TO LOCK/UNLOCK IT OPENED. NOW IT WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE HANDLES.
I CALLED TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED AND WAS INFORMED THERE IS A WAITING LIST OF UNKNOWN LENGTH. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD NOT BE A WAITING LIST.
I BOUGHT MY 2017 WITH 38,000 MILES ON IT AND I DROVE A TOTAL OF 400 MILES A WEEK FOR WORK. I HAD BEEN TAKING IT TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND NOT ONE TIME DID THEY MENTION THAT IT WAS BURNING OIL OR EVEN LOW WHEN THEY WOULD CHANGE IT. WE DECIDED TO START DOING IT OURSELVES AND WHEN MY HUSBAND DID THE NEXT OIL CHANGE HE NOTICED IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY OF OIL AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS VISIBLE. 2,400 MILES LATER MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WE HAD TO ADD 5 QUARTS OF OIL TO THE CAR AND THE TICKING THAT I THOUGH WAS MAYBE THE AC GOING OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, JUST SUDDENLY STOPPED. IT RAN IN MY DRIVEWAY THE NEXT MORNING FOR 10 TO 15 MIN WARMING UP FOR ME TO GO TO WORK. I DROVE 4 MILES WITH NO ABNORMALITIES IN SOUND OR DRIVABILITY. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD THIS LOUD SCREECHING NOISE AND MY CAR DIED. I GOT IT TO START BACK A SECOND TIME AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT I COASTED THE 1/2 MILE AROUND HILLS AND CORNERS TO BE ABLE TO GET PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND OUT OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STOPPED ROLLING. IT IS NOW SITTING AT THE CARMAX THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM AWAITING A NEW MOTOR. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROOT CAUSE WAS APPARENTLY A BAD RING OR GASKET IN THE 3RD CYLINDER THAT GOES AROUND THE PISTON. MY OIL LIGHT NEVER ONE TIME CAME ON TO TELL ME THERE WAS EVER ANY ISSUES NOR DID IT GIVE ME ANY INDICATION . I WAS UP TO DATE ON MY OIL CHANGES AND IT HAD ONLY BEEN 2,400 MILES LIKE I SAID, SINCE THE LAST ONE. IT HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND NEEDS A BRAND NEW MOTOR DUE TO A MOTOR MALFUNCTION THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE MANUFACTURING OF THE MOTOR. HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO COST OUT OF THE ROAD, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED JUST TRYING TO GET MY CAR AND MYSELF TO A SAFE LOCATION.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED MY MPH STARTING TO GO DOWN. MY FOOT WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE GAS AND MY MPH STARTED TO GO DOWN. MY CAR STARTED MAKING SOME NOISES AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES MY MPH SHOT DOWN COMPLETELY AND I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR. I PULLED OVER AS QUICKLY AS I COULD TO AVOID GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I TURNED OFF MY CAR AND HAD TO GET IT TOWED. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH IT SEEMS THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON ENGINES THAT I WISH I KNEW ABOUT BEFORE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE !
REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM EITHER THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL. MECHANICAL FAILURE.
I bought my 2017 Hyundai Tuscon with 38,905 miles on it. My engine blew up at 70,806 miles while I was on my way to work.My husband was changing the oil and when he pulled the oil plug from the oil pan, NOTHING came out of the pan. We assumed the dealer just didn't put oil back in it or not enough. The mileage on the Tuscon the last time we took it to the dealer was at 54,988. We put a 7,500-mile oil change in it and the next oil change, it was dry again. No oil light, no engine light, no oil spots on the ground or the engine. No evidence of it leaking anywhere. Fast forward a few oil changes, sooner than suggested, we changed the oil at around 68,000 miles with no issues (only because we were changing the oil every 3,500 miles or so). Then while on my way home from work one evening, all my dash lights came on, my car sounded and ran extremely rough for the 15 miles I had until I reached my house. As I pulled up the driveway, you could hear it knocking loudly so I checked my oil and the engine was BONE DRY, it had only been 2,200 miles since the last oil change so it shouldn't have been empty. We added the 5 quarts of oil that it needed and drove it down the road a mile or so to listen and feel it, nothing was wrong; it sounded fine and ran well. The next morning it ran for 15 min in my driveway, warming up, and drove 8 miles and I heard a loud clank. It stalled, I was able to start it back up, it stalled again and I had to coast it half a mile to get it out of the road and into a driveway out of harm's way. It had to be towed to the dealer. They ran several tests to find out that "cylinder 3 had spun its bearings leaving heavy amounts of metal in the oil and pan noted, premature material failure of bearing is cause of rod knocking. Engine will need replaced due to introduction of metal on all moving components." It was in the shop for a month being repaired and now with only 5,222 miles on the engine, I've already had to add almost 4 quarts of oil in 2 months.

UNKNOWN. I bought my 2017 Hyundai Tuscon brand new in 2016. This car was not owned by anyone prior to me and had 11 miles on the dashboard. I maintained this car as I should have and got oil changes before the suggested time provided by the dealer. Now fast forward to 2020/2021 and my car is louder, making noises, not driving smoothly, and having trouble accelerating sometimes. I tell the dealer and they say nothing is wrong with my car but these problems persist. Eventually while driving to work early this year (spring 2021) my car completely stalls and will hardly drive faster than 5mph. I took the car to a mechanic (not Hyundai because they never have answers) that told me my catalytic converter was completely clogged and that it was an unusual thing to see in such a new car with only 100,000 miles on it. They replaced the converter and now it doesn’t stall. The car still continues to drive less smooth and the engine knocks and makes rattle noises but Hyundai still says they don’t see any other issue with the car. My mechanic told me it seems as if the car is burning the oil up because even when i come to get an oil change early it’s always bone dry my car is always starting to get super loud and check engine light comes on well before I’m due to change it so i take it up and get an oil change but i believe this is a defect on the car and i shouldn’t have to continue doing this eventually it’s going to cause even worse problems for my car, i read other reviews and I’m not the only one complaining of the oil burning up with no leak or other explanation, clearly this is a manufacturer defect!
