WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES PER HOUR MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND SMOKE STARTED TO APPEAR FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FROM THE TAIL OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER NEARLY BEING HIT BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND MINE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND EXIT THE VEHICLE I OBSERVED FLAMES AND SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE FLAMES LUCKILY EXTINGUISHED ON THEIR OWN. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED AND THAT A PISTON HAD GONE THROUGH THE ENGINE WALL. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR HYUNDAI WITH THESE YEAR VEHICLE AND ENGINE TYPE SO I WANTED TO MAKE SURE TO REPORT THE INCIDENT.
2017 HYUNDAI TUSCAN WILL LOSE ACCELERATION WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR ANY STREET. SLOW ACCELERATION FROM COMPLETE STOP. AFTER PULLING OVER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT WILL ACCELERATE PROPERLY SOMETIMES FOR MINUTES, SOMETIMES FOR DAYS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ABOUT 7-8 MONTHS AGO.
THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE CURRENT ABS RECALL ON MY VEHICLE.
BEEN TRYING TO GET THE FIX FOR THE RECALL ON MY 2017 TUCSON FOR MONTHS. DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT AND THEY'LL PUT ME ON THE LIST TO CALL WHEN THEY HAVE THE PARTS. (TULSA HYUNDAI IS THE DEALERSHIP)
HYUNDAI HAS A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, NHTSA RECALL # 20V543000. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP (NAPLETON HYUNDAI IN HAZELWOOD, MO) THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS NEEDED OR A SOLUTION TO FIX THIS RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL CAN BE ISSUED FOR WHAT MAY BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE (POTENTIAL ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE), AND YET HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION OR THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT NAPLETON HYUNDAI INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A SOLUTION FOR THIS RECALL FOR HYUNDAI TUCSONS IN THE 2019 THROUGH 2021 MODEL YEARS, BUT APPARENTLY AS THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE HYUNDAI DEALERS ARE USING THOSE PARTS TO FIX CARS THAT ARE IN THEIR STOCK OF CURRENT INVENTORY, PERHAPS AT THE EXPENSE OF NOT HAVING THEM AVAILABLE TO FIX THOSE 2019 THROUGH 2021 MODELS. MY VEHICLE IS A HYUNDAI TUCSON FROM THE 2017 MODEL YEAR. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH HAVING TO JUST "LIVE WITH" THIS POTENTIAL FIRE RISK UNTIL HYUNDAI COMES UP WITH A SOLUTION FOR MY MODEL YEAR, AND THEN COMES UP WITH THE NECESSARY PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. IF THEIR IS A RECALL FOR AN AUTOMOBILE, THERE SHOULD BE A SOLUTION READILY AVAILABLE FOR THE CONSUMER FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
THE CAR MAKES A SQUEAKING NOISE AND HAS SLOW ACCELERATION WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS
I HAVE AROUND 36,000 MILES ON MY SUV AND MY ENGINE WENT OUT. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND IT STARTED MAKING RUG A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. HALF WAY HOME IT DIED AND THE OIL LIGHT FLASHED BUT WENT BACK OFF. CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP BUT KNOCKING SOUND WAS STILL THERE. KNOCKING SOUND OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING.*DT
RECEIVED A CALL ( NOT A NOTICE VIA MAIL) ON 1/26/21, FROM THE CARSON CITY, NV. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. RECALL IS ON THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. THE (HECU) HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING WIRES TO CORRODE & CAUSE A ELECTRICAL SHORT RESULTING IN COMPARTMENT ENGINE FIRES. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO REPAIR. I WAS TOLD NOT TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE ANY LONGER BECAUSE A FIRE COULD HAPPEN EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING. THEY OFFERED TO BUY MY VEHICLE BACK @ BLUE BOOK VALUE. MY VEHICLE IS PAID OFF & ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT & IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I AM AT A LOSS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I'M GOING TO CONTACT A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY TO SEE IF I CAN GET THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE REFUNDED TO ME & THEY CAN HAVE THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE BACK . THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO GET ME TO TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR A NEW VEHICLE, WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO DO .THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE & NOW IS PARKED OUTSIDE ON THE DRIVEWAY BECAUSE OF THE FIRE DANGER. UNABLE TO START VEHICLE, VEHICLE HAS A SMART KEY KEYLESS SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE DOESN'T START THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ROCK SOLID, THE CAR PUTS IN ACC AND ON BUT WILL NOT START THE ENGINE. DRIVER MUST SEEK HELP TO PUSH THE PEDAL TO BE ABLE TO START THE CAR. AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN STARTED THE BRAKE FOOT PEDAL BECOMES NORMAL. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETECT THE CONDITION.
FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR TAKES MORE THAN ONE TRY TO OPEN. SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER'S DOOR. VEHICLE WAS LOCKED AND STATIONARY BOTH TIMES. APPARENTLY THIS ISSUE IS PRETTY COMMON WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. IT'S A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND I'M CONCERNED THAT ANOTHER ONE OF THE DOORS COULD FAIL TO OPEN DURING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVER EXPERIENCED SUDDEN NUDGE AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED TO SHOW. ONCE PULLED OVER, DRIVER NOTICED THE CAR IS LEAKING. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT GO. IT WAS EXAMINED AND SHOWED THAT THE ROD PUNCTURED THE ENGINE AS WELL AS THE OIL FILTER, TRAILING OIL FOR MORE THAN A MILE. THE OIL WAS BURNING IN THE PUNCTURED ENGINE AND CAUSED THE SMOKE. THE CRANK SHAFT BROKE IN HALF NOT ALLOWING STARTER TO GO AS WELL.
WE SAW IT ON INTERNET HYUNDAI TUCSON 2017 HAD RECALLS ON THE BRAKES THAT THEY MAY CATCH ON FIRE.DEALERSHIP SAID YES. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP-APPT.1/15/2021. NO PART. CALLED TODAY-NO PART IN .
MADE APPOINTMENT TO CORRECT RECALL AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEN 1 WEEK LATER THEY SAID THERE IS CURRENTLY NO REMEDY TO FIX THE RECALL. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE, BUT WILL CONTACT ME TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT ONCE THEY FIND A REMEDY. THE PROBLEM IF THIS RECALL IS NOT FIXED IT CAN CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE. AT THIS TIME, I WAS ADVISED TO ONLY PARK OUTSIDE TO PREVENT A INTERNAL COMBUSTION IN THE ENGINE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. GANLEY HYUNDAI OF PARMA (7115 BROOKPARK RD, PARMA, OH 44129, (216) 539-2863) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED, WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
1) HYUNDAI FAILURE TO NOTIFY ME OF SAFETY RECALL 195 REGARDING A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION ADDRESS HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE JANUARY 2019. I LEARNED OF IT FROM OTHER SOURCES ON 1/9/21. 2) HYUNDAI FAILURE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING WHEN THE WHEN THE CAR WILL BE REPAIRED PER THEIR RESPONSE TO HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS CASE#: 17671663. LOCAL DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL GET THE PARTS TO FIX IT.
WHEN I STOP AND THEN TRY TO GO AGAIN ENG RPM'S JUMP TO 4000 + AND I HARDLY MOVE , ASLO THERE IS A HISSING NOISE FROM TRANS OR WHEEL HUBS ON HYWAY
NHTSA #20V543000 RECALL NUMBER 195 STILL HAS NO REMEDY FOR THIS YEAR MODEL. THE DEALER I JUST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM HAS 13/14 CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WITH OPEN RECALLS OF THIS NATURE. I PURCHASED AND THEN WAS TOLD I COULD NOT TAKE IT UNTIL THE RECALL WAS FIXED. UNDERSTANDABLE AND APPRECIATED. THE NEXT DAY NOBODY WOULD ANSWER MY TEXTS OR MESSAGES. UPON RESEARCHING I SEE WHY. OBVIOUSLY I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE MY CHILD AROUND IN A 'NEW' VEHICLE THAT MIGHT CATCH FIRE. WHY DO YOU ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE TO SELL THEM? WHY ISN'T THERE A REMEDY AFTER 2.5 YEARS?!?

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED CONTACT TO PLACE THE VEHICLE OUTSIDE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED 2017 TUCSON BRAND NEW AT ROUGHLY 22K MY ENGINE SEIZED AND THE 3RD CONNECTING ROD FAILED. AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT I CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY GOING OUT, BULB IS NOT OUT BUT WIRING SCORCHED AND BULB SOMEHOW CONTINUOUSLY BECOMES LOOSE. I HAVE REPLACED FRONT HEADLIGHTS REPEATEDLY WITH THE DRIVER FRONT SHATTERING IN HOUSING. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED CALIPERS AND HAVE GONE THROUGH 7 SETS OF ROTORS. AT ROUGHLY 60000 I NOTICED I WAS RUNNING OUT OF OIL IN BETWEEN EVERY 3000 MILE OIL CHANGE. CONTINUED TO BRING BACK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR S . I HAVE COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT HESITATION WHEN PULLING OUT FROM STOP AND ENGINE KNOCKING. MULTIPLE OIL PAN RESEAL GASKETS REPLACED FUEL PUMP REPLACED, OIL ALWAYS ALL OVER ENGINE. AT 110K MY ENGINE FAILED A SECOND TIME WITH HYUNDAI DENYING ALL CLAIMS. ORIGINALLY SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR RENTAL BUT WHEN THEY EMAILED ME LETTER FOR 'GOODWILL ' REIMBURSEMENT IT WAS A RELEASE FROM LIABILITY WAIVER IF I TOOK THEIR 'GOODWILL ' . I HAVE INFORMED THEM OF ELECTRIC ISSUES AND HOW I FEEL UNSAFE WITH NEW RECALL AND FIRE POSSIBILITY AND THEY INFORMED ME AS LONG AS NO WARNING LIGHT IS ON IT SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. I TRIED TO TRADE VEHICLE IN AND NO ONE WOULD TAKE MY TRADE, IT'S 3 YEARS OLD AND WORTH NOTHING. HYUNDAI RESPONSE WAS VEHICLES DON'T HOLD THEIR VALUE LIKE THEY USED TO. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THEIR DISMISSIVE CUSTOMER CARE, 2 ENGINES IN A VEHICLE 3 YEARS OLD AND THEY INSIST THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEIR PRODUCT.
When accelerating from a full stop or yield, vehicle takes up to 3 seconds to fully respond to pedal. Vehicle will move about 5ft forward during this 3 second lag time. After the lag time, the vehicle jerks into motion. Very dangerous to turn onto a busy road with 35mph speed limit.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle then abruptly accelerated forward with the continuous depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000
There is no accident. My paint is peeling around the rear windows. The paint color is dazzling white.
THE AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH HESITATES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS ON THE EXPRESSWAY DUE TO THIS ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING OR TURNING. VEHICLE STALLS FOR 30 SECONDS OR MORE.
HYUNDAI TUCSON 1.6L TURBO ENGINE BURNS OIL INTERNALLY BEFORE 3,000 MILE OIL EXCHANGE. STARTED AROUND 75K MILES. THE TRUCK HESITATES AND WANTS TO STALL. I HAVE TO ADD QUART OF OIL EVERY 2K MILES BEFORE OIL EXCHANGE. THERE IS NO VISIBLE OIL LEAKS. IGNITION COIL ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTICS POINT TO MIS-FIRING OF CYLINDER 2. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND SWITCH KNOWN GOOD IGNITION COIL BUT SAME ERROR CODE AND ENGINE LIGHT. THIS TRUCK MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL IS WELL KNOWN AT OIL EXCHANGE SERVICE CENTERS FOR RUNNING LOW ON OIL BECAUSE IT BURNS OIL UNKNOWINGLY TO IT'S VEHICLE OWNERS.
I HAVE TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE BACK HOLDER HAD TO BE REPLACED WAS MELTED , I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT. HOW DO THINGS MELT FOR NO REASON. IVE SPENT ABOUT 300 TO 400. ON LIGHT BULBS. JUST REPLACED PIGTAIL ON THE FRONT LOW BEAM LIGHT. CRAZY ITS PAIN TO HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING BULBS. JUST DID THIS 3/15/21
THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE: NHTSA RECALL NUMBER20V543000. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF WHEN HYUNDAI WILL PROVIDE A FIX. SINCE THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO CATCH FIRE CAN YOU PLEASE FIND OUT ABOUT THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM.
DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT HAS GONE OUT 4 TIMES IN 3 YEARS
Dangerous acceleration issues... my car hesitates for almost 10 seconds when accelerating from a complete stop, at a stop light or turning into oncoming traffic and sometimes changing lanes at low speeds. This has caused near accidents on several occasions. I have even experienced the vehicle completely shutting off while idling and moving at low speeds in heavy traffic or going thru a drive thru restaurant. The Drive Clute Transmission (DCT) description that came with my vehicle when I purchased it mentioned "a direct driving feeling which may fee different" ... "more noticeable when starting from a stop or low vehicle speed"... what it failed to mention is that the car would delay or hesitate for near 10 seconds then leap forward or even completely shut off putting my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk for injury or worse fatality. The DCT is a major safety concern and a common reported issue. Why aren'tyou doing anything to help consumers? I'm tired of dealership mechanics stating there's nothing they can do to fix the issue because Hyundai hasn't issued any recalls. The 2016 model had a recall for this same issue. I am a single mother and veteran and I need to have a safe running vehicle. Hyundai boasts the best warranty available and I even purchased an extended at the time of purchase so why can't Hyundai/dealership do anything to fix this? This has been an occasional issue since around 30k miles but had gotten more frequent and worse. I first made an appointment for the issue in 12/5/2020 at about 51k miles.
Connecting rod bearing failure. Threw rod into oil pan and made a hole. Engine stared to smoke and almost caught fire.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT-OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. THE VEHICLE COASTED ACROSS THE STREET TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GERALD HYUNDAI (209 HANSEN BOULEVARD, NORTH AURORA, IL 60542, (877) 781-4106) WHERE THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY CAUSED BY THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE, AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION THAT INCLUDED A FREEWAY EXIT, I HEARD A CLANK AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER MOVE FORWARD. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I WAS IN GEAR, BUT THE ENGINE RACED, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS PARTIALLY IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS, AS I WAS IN THE PATH OF CARS COMING OFF THE FREEWAY RAMP. (HAVING IT DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE ANYWHERE.) THOSE CARS HAD LIMITED SIGHT DISTANCE, AND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS MY VEHICLE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT THE DUAL CLUTCH HAD DISENGAGED AND FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. DURING THE REPAIR PROCESS, THE MECHANIC ALSO FOUND THE TRANSMISSION AND FLYWHEEL TO BE DAMAGED OR FAULTY. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT HE THOUGHT, BECAUSE OF THE RECENT MODEL YEAR, THAT THE DUAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WOULD BE A SPECIAL ORDER PART, BUT WAS TOLD THAT HAD AT LEAST TEN IN STOCK BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL PART WAS POORLY DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED. THE REPLACEMENT PART HAD BEEN REDESIGNED.
ENGINE LOST OIL PRESSURE TO ROD BEARINGS. NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND. THE CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS WERE VERY LOUD AND ENGINE STALLED A FEW TIMES. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THE SYMPTOMS CAME ON SUDDENLY, WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE CODES OR WARNINGS. THE FACTORY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY, SAYING THE WARRANTEE EXPIRED. I AM NOT CLAIMING WARRANTEE COVERAGE, BUT THE SYMPTOMS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO RECENT RECALL AND SAFETY RECALL ISSUES FOR WHICH NHTSA FINED HYUNDAI FOR NEGLIGENCE. NJ
ENGINE FAILURE AT 121K MILES. I DRIVE LONG DISTANCES FOR WORK SO THE MILES ARE SUPER EASY NOT STOP AND GO. I NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE AT CERTAIN THROTTLE PEDAL POSITIONS, I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE DIP STICK SO I BOUGHT A QUART OF OIL AND THIS PUT THE LEVEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACCEPTABLE RANGE ON THE DIP STICK. I PROCEEDED TO GET SOMEWHERE CLOSER TO MY HOME. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED BLINKING SO I GOT OFF ONTO THE EXIT AND AT THE TOP THE MOTOR MADE A HARD NOISE AND STOPPED AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH AND SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE CAR. THERE WAS OIL ON THE GROUND SO I ASSUME THE OIL PAN HAD A HOLE FROM A ROD FAILURE. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL EVERY 7500N MILES WHEN THE FACTORY SETTING TELLS ME IT'S TIME. I USE MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL AND A GOOD FILTER EVERY TIME. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED THE FIRST TIME AT HYUNDAI OF ONTARIO, CALIF AND THE SECOND TIME AT JIFFY LUBE IN REDLANDS, CA. THE PRICE FOR SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE WAS RIDICULOUS WHEN I CAN DO IT FOR HALF MINIMUM. HYUNDAI HAS SAID SINCE I HAVE NO INVOICES FOR OIL CHANGES THEY WILL NOT COVER MOTOR FULLY? I KNOW THE COMPUTER CAN BE ACCESSED TO SEE THE DATES WHEN I RESET THE METER MILES. I KNOW SINCE DOING MY RESEARCH HYUNDAI HAS HAD THE VERY SAME PROBLEMS WITH PRIOR YEAR CARS. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM A CAR LIKE THIS SHOULD LAST WELL INTO 200 TO 300K MILES WHEN TAKEN CARE OF PROPERLY. I HAVE HAD A HONDA AND TOYOTA THAT DID HIGH MILEAGE WITH NO PROBLEMS. HYUNDAI STILL HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2.0 LITER MOTORS. THE WARRANTY NEEDS TO BE MADE LONGER TO 200K MILES IF THEY HAVE REALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR. I WILL NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND A HYUNDAI VEHICLE TO ANYONE!

Hi how are you. I recieved a email about the recall for engine that stalls out. I believe you doing this because of the 100 emails i sent complaining about it and the 20 times i took my suv to the shop for it and they could not fix it. I contacted the dealership and they told me there is no recall and they cant help me. When i take off my SUV will stall in middle of intersection which they though it was the Duel Clutch and now you figured it was the engine. How can we get this fixed or add my VIN to the recall list. I HAVE DONE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE HYUNDAI TUCSON HAS THREE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS THAT CAUSE THE ISSUES WITH THE STALLING/LOW POWER ON TAKEOFF. I BELIEVE THAT PART OF IT MIGHT BE THE TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING PROPERLY IN 1ST GEAR AND THAT SHOULD BE SOMETHING THEY CAN FIX WITH A COMPUTER UPDATE. THE SECOND FROM WHAT I'VE READ IS THAT THE FUEL TANK HAS A MATERIAL FLAKING OFF ON THE INSIDE OF THE FUEL TANK CAUSING THE FUEL FILTER TO BE DAMAGED/CLOGGED. THE THIRD AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THE REASON SOME OF THE TUCSONS FAIL IS A BAD CRANK SHAFT. MY GUESS IS THAT THE BAD CRANK SHAFT HAPPENS OVER TIME AND THAT THE PROBLEMS START WITH THE FUEL CLOGS. THE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE EXAMINED TO ENSURE THAT THE "FLAKING OFF" MATERIAL DEFECT INSIDE THE TANK IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE FUEL FILTER BEING CLOGGED AND EVENTUALLY THE CAR FAILS. THE LOSS OF POWER IS SCARY AND DANGEROUS AND MUST BE RESOLVED. WOULDN'T IT BE CHEAPER IF HYUNDAI REPLACED ALL THE FUEL TANKS ON THE CARS WITH ONE THAT DOESN'T HAVE A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL COATED ON THE INSIDE OF THEM RATHER THAN REPLACE MOTORS AND KEEP DOING WORK ON THEM OVER AND OVER AND OVER?
TRAVELING ON AN EXIT RAMP OFF THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE FAILED COMPLETELY. I HAD TO CASH IT DOWN AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. PROCEEDING ON THE NEXT HIGHWAY THE CAR CONTINUALLY STALLED APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES BEFORE FINDING A SAFE PULLOVER; PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHER LIVES AT RISK. I TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF MY VEHICLE FOLLOWING ALL MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES TO KEEP A HAPPY AND HEALTHY VEHICLE. IT'S A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT THAT AFTER JUST A FEW WEEKS SHORT OF THREE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP I'M TOLD THE ENGINE BLEW 'FOR NO REASON - THESE THINGS JUST HAPPEN'.

THE TURBO WENT OUT OF IT AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER PLACE TO GET SECOND OPINION AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TURBO, WE PUT THAT ON A YEAR AGO AND NOW ITS BAD AGAIN. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, ENGINE/TRANSMISSION HAS SEVERE HESITATION, NO MOVEMENT FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THAN HAS VERY LITTLE POWER AND RPMS REV INTO THE RED ZONE UNTIL IT FINALLY 'KICKS IN' JERKING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON MANY OCCASIONS TRYING TO MAKE LEFT TURNS OR GET ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2017 AND THEY TELL ME THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPLICATED VIA COMPUTER AND THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE DCT... NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS NORMAL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

I CALLED THE HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE WE HAD THE OIL CHANGE AND HE SAID HE HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT HYUNDAI TUCSON'S BURNING THROUGH A LOT OF OIL. I DID SEE A LAWSUIT FOR THE 2016 MODELS AND THINK 2017 MODELS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUE. OUR SEAT RECLINING ELECTRICAL BUTTON IS ALSO FAILING THE SEAT TO RECLINE PROPERLY.
