MULTIPLE INSTANCES (39+ AND COUNTING SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN JAN '18) OF LAG IN ACCELERATION WHEN AT A LOW SPEED (OCCASIONALLY AFTER BEING STOPPED) & THEN NEEDING TO SPEED UP. MANY TIMES I WAS WAITING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS AN INTERSECTION IN FRONT OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC WHERE YOU TYPICALLY INCH FORWARD & THEN NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO MAKE IT ACROSS BEFORE THE NEXT CAR COMES OR WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS YELLOW & THEN RED. SOMETIMES IT WAS INCHING UP BEHIND ANOTHER CAR WAITING TO MERGE W/TRAFFIC, OR IN STOP-GO TRAFFIC & THEN NOT HAVING ACCELERATION WHEN NEEDED. IN ALL SITUATIONS ACCELERATION WAS NEEDED & DESPITE PRESSING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATION PEDAL (SOMETIMES TO THE FLOOR), NOTHING HAPPENS FOR ANYTHING FROM A HALF SECOND TO AT LEAST A COUPLE OF SECONDS. THE LAG WHEN TURNING LEFT IS VERY DANGEROUS - POTENTIALLY EVEN FATAL - DUE TO NEEDING ACCELERATION & SPEED TO AVOID BEING HIT BY OTHER CARS. BEING HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER CAR IS A POTENTIAL DANGER WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP & HAVING A SECOND OR MORE DELAY BEFORE THE ENGINE KICKS IN - THE DRIVER BEHIND MUST BE PAYING VERY CLOSE ATTENTION IN CASE MY CAR DOESN'T MOVE WHEN EXPECTED. IN THIS CASE IT'D OBVIOUSLY BE THE OTHER DRIVER'S FAULT, BUT THAT'S NO COMFORT SHOULD I SUSTAIN INJURIES FROM A COLLISION DUE TO A KNOWN FAULTY DCT COMPONENT/SOFTWARE. SAME FOR THE TIMES I PRESSED THE PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENS, SO I PRESS IT TO THE FLOOR AND SUDDENLY IT ENGAGES A SECOND OR TWO LATE - THAT LURCH IS UNEXPECTED & DANGEROUS IN ITSELF. I CAN'T SEE ANY PATTERN TO IT AS FAR AS CAR TEMP, AIR TEMP, TIME DRIVING, AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK, ETC. THE TIMES I'VE SPOKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP/SERVICE PEOPLE THEY ALWAYS SAY IT'S THE NATURE OF THE DCT & THAT IT'S NORMAL. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2016 TUCSONS FOR THE VERY SAME THING & A SOFTWARE UPDATE HELPED, BUT NOTHING HAS HELPED MINE SO FAR. IT'S UP TO DATE W/SERVICE & SOFTWARE UPDATES.
DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD, THEN JUST STALLED. I BARELY GOT IT OFF THE ROAD AND FINALLY HAD BYSTANDERS HELP PUSH ME OFF. IT WAS TOWED TO LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER AND AFTER REVIEW, THEY STATED SOMETHING ABOUT DEBRIS MELTED AND GOT INTO THE ENGINE, WHICH DESTROYED THE ENGINE. WAS UNDER FULL WARRANTY AND NOW IT'S BEEN 30 DAYS I'VE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES INITIALLY AND STOPS ACCELERATING A FEW SECONDS LATER. MY WIFE ACCELERATED FROM A STOP TO TURN LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SECONDS AFTER THE CAR STARTS THE TURN IS CROSSING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IT SLOWS DOWN PROLONGING THE TIME YOU ARE VULNERABLE TO BEING HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO TURN LEFT.
THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. WITH FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND GAS AND COASTING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED THE CAR JERKS AND ACTS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T GOING INTO GEAR. THIS ALSO OCCASIONALLY HAPPENS WHEN FIRST DEPRESSING THE GAS FROM A COMPLETE STOP, STALLING OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A COMPLAINT THEY HEAR FREQUENTLY. I HAVE NOTICED IF THE TEMPERATURES ARE OVER 90 THIS HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY. OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.
FEW SECONDS HESITATION, AND SHAKY MOTION ON TAKE OFF, WHEN CAR IS WARM (IN HEAVY TRAFFIC). HESITATION/DELAY IN SHIFTING GEAR, WHEN NEED ACCELERATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FROM AN IDLE POSITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CENTRAL VALLEY HYUNDAI (4620 MCHENRY AVE, MODESTO, CA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH PACK INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I MADE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NOW IT IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE BRAKE REAR PASSENGER SIDE HAS BURNED. THE DEALERSHIP BLOCKED EM FROM MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. I WILL TRY AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND BURNING OF THE BRAKE LIGHT SYSTEM.
CAR OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) HESITATES UP TO 3 OR MORE SECONDS WHEN PRESSING THE GAS FROM STANDING STOP. STILL LESS THAN 15,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DOING THIS OVER THE LAST 1,000 MILES OR SO.
WE PURCHASED THIS 2017 HYUNDAI TUSCON NEW FROM DEALER. AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR, THE VEHICLE BEGAN DRAMATICALLY HESITATING WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP OR WHEN SLOWING DOWN THEN REAPPLYING THE ACCELERATOR. IT WILL ALSO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AND JERKS FORWARD IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. WE HAVE HAD IT TO DEALER TWICE, WHO STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OBD CODES AND THEY COULDN'T TELL US WHAT WAS WRONG. THE MECHANIC, INITIALS J.F. AT HYUNDAI COOL SPRINGS IN NASHVILLE TN (PHONE: 615-814-6051) DROVE THE CAR HIMSELF AND WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM TODAY, BUT STILL SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO TO FIX IT. HE PROVIDE THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE LINE WHICH I CALLED TO DETERMINE THERE WERE NO SAFETY RECALLS ON THIS MODEL AT THIS TIME. NO OPTION TO SPEAK TO A HUMAN ON THE PHONE. AT THIS POINT I DO NOT FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE FOR MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER TO DRIVE UNTIL WE HAVE A RESOLUTION.
THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT SOCKET BURNED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS INSTALLED IMPROPERLY MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE.
FILED A COMPLAINT ON 8/12/19. NHTSA ID NUMBER 11243384 DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING FROM NHTSA AND I CANNOT FIGURE OUT ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE HOW TO TRACK OR FOLLOW UP ON THIS COMPLAINT. WE ARE BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AGAIN TO LOOK AT THE SAME ISSUE.
I LEASED A 2017 TUCSON INTENDING TO BUY AT THE END. OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF, WITH ABOUT 29,000 MILES ON IT, I HAVE HAD SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHERE I PULL OUT ONTO MY BUSY 50 MPH ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. IT'S ALMOST AS IF IT HAD STALLED OR SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL, NO MATTER HOW SOFT OR HARD YOU STEP ON THE GAS. EACH OCCASION MY SON AND I HAVE COME WITHIN SECONDS OF BEING HIT BY DUMP TRUCKS, TRACTOR TRAILERS, OR OTHER ROADWAY VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE SAYS IT'S THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM, BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, THEY'VE RESET THE PARAMETERS TO FACTORY SETTINGS, BUT IT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. NOT TO MENTION THE AC JUST WENT ON IT OUT OF NOWHERE. I AM 16 MONTHS OUT FROM THE LEASE TERMINATION, AND FEEL SO UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT I HAVE COME WITHIN SECONDS OF GETTING REAR ENDED BY DUMP TRUCKS, THEN HAVING THE CAR BUCK FORWARD AND RED LINE. HANDFULS OF CUSTOMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE, BUT NOTHING WILL BE DONE TO ADDRESS THIS UNTIL A FAMILY OR PERSON WINDS UP SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DEAD. UNFORTUNATELY, MY HUSBAND AND I ARE AT A CROSSROADS DECIDING IF BREAKING THE LEASE WOULD BE BETTER THAN WINDING UP IN A COFFIN, EITHER WAY IT'LL COST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY ON OUR END.
AT APPROXIMATELY 6:10 PM ON WEDNESDAY 8/7/19, I WAS ON AN OUTLYING ROAD TURNING ON A ROUNDABOUT, I HAD SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH TO ENTER THE ROUNDABOUT AND WAS ACCELERATING TO EXIT IT, WHEN MY 2017 HYUNDAI TUSCON SPONTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING SHUT OFF. THE CAR SLOWED AND THE SCREENS WENT BLACK. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT STOPPED COMPLETELY AND TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TRIED THE CAR, IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME (8 MINUTE TRIP, ALONG OUTLYING ROADS) I AM UNSURE WHICH COMPONENT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO SPONTANEOUSLY SHUT OFF.
WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY IN 'D' DRIVE IN MY 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON, I SIMPLY STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND MERGE INTO HIGH-SPEED FREEWAY TRAFFIC, AND WITH NO DASHBOARD LIGHT WARNINGS OR ANY SIGN OF DYSFUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE CAR ACCELERATED PERFECTLY IN FIRST GEAR, AND SEEMED TO AUTOMATICALLY GET INTO ANOTHER GEAR AND AS I WAS MERGING WITH TRAFFIC THE CAR SHUDDERED SLIGHTLY SPASMODICALLY ' AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION (CLUTCHES) COMPLETELY DISENGAGED WITH THE ENGINE REVVING TO 8000 RPMS WITH NO GEAR ENGAGEMENT AFTER STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE GEAR SHIFT WAS USELESS EVEN WHEN I WENT TO "SHIFTRONIC" MANUAL MODE - I HAD NO MANUAL CONTROL. NO GEAR INDICATOR NUMERAL (LIKE A "1") APPEARED. NOTHING - AND NO INDICATION ON THE DASHBOARD. I FORTUNATELY AVOIDED DEATH BY LUCK OF THE TRUCKER AVOIDING A MAJOR REAR-END COLLISION WITH MY CAR - AS I SUCCESSFULLY MANAGED TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER IN JUST THE NICK OF TIME. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THIS DCT TRANSMISSION, AND IN WYLIE V.. HYUNDAI AMERICA CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, ALL OF THE DESCRIPTIONS OF EVENTS THAT HAD OCCURRED TO OTHER CLAIMANTS - ALSO OCCURRED TO ME. CURRENTLY HYUNDAI IS ATTEMPTING TO BAIT ME INTO SIGNING MY RIGHTS AWAY, NOR ARE THEY CONDUCTING THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A PROPER, ON THE LEVEL MANNER. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, AND I WAS ALMOST KILLED OR INVOLVED IN A MAJOR CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT THAT CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR INJURY OR DEATH.
SEEMS LIKE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHES ABOUT 90 DEGREES TRANSMISSION HAS A PROBLEM LEAVING A STOP AT A NORMAL SPEED NO MATTER H0W MUCH GAS PEDAL IS APPLIED IT TAKES 5 TO 10 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO MOVE FOWARD AT A REGULAR SPEED ALMOST LIKE THE OLD DAYS WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE OFF IN SECOND OR THIRD GEAR IN A STICK SHIFT. PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU EXPECT TO BE IN A SAFE PLACE BY THE TIME TRAFFIC ARRIVES OR WHEN LEAVING A STOP SIGN OTHER DRIVERS EXPECT YOU TO PULL AWAY AT A RESONABLE SPEED, POSSIBLY MAKINGS FOR A REAR END ACCIDENT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHICH HYUNDAI SEEMS TO BE IGNORING. I WOULD BE VERY SURPRICED IF THERE HAS'NT BEEN AN ACCIDENT FROM THIS PROBLEM SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SOON. THIS HAS HAPPENED EACH SUMMER WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHES APPROX. 90 DEGREES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT 2 TIMES SO FAR WITH THIS PROBLEM THEY STATE THE CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE. THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A FEW HYUNDAI OWNER WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME RESULTS AS MINE THE LAST SERVICE REPORT SHOWS IN AND OUT MILAGE OF 12 MILES, YET STATES THE UNIT WAS TEST DRIVEN AT LEAST 4 TIMES IN THE WEEK THEY HAD MY VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, UNFORUINATLY THE TEMPERATURE DO NOT REACH 90 DEGREES IN THAT WEEK AND THEY MUST HAVE NOT DRIVEN VERY FAR WITH THE TEST DRIVE, LESS THAN 3 MILES EACH TEST DRIVE, NOT MUCH FOR TEST DRIVES .
MY HYUNDAI TUCSON HAS ALMOST 30,000 MILES ON IT. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO WE BEGAN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH DELAYED ACCELERATION. WE WERE DRIVING NORMALLY THROUGH TOWN AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I PRESSED THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN AND STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. THE ENGINE DID NOT REV OR ANYTHING, SUDDENLY AFTER 3-5 SECONDS THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND BEGAN ACCELERATING. THIS HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES.I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS I COULD. AFTER A DAY WITH THE VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK AND DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE ISSUE RETURNED. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER KEPT THE CAR FOR 3 DAYS AND DROVE IT ABOUT 80 MILES OVER THOSE THREE DAYS AND SAID THE PROBLEM NEVER HAPPENED WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT. THE FAILURE TO ACCELERATE HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. SOME DAYS IT WILL DRIVE FINE AND OTHER DAYS IT WILL HAVE THE ISSUE THE WHOLE TIME I'M DRIVING IT. WE HAVE ALSO HAD A FEW INSTANCES OF THE VEHICLE SHIFTING INCORRECTLY AND OVER REVVING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE ACCELERATION ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS AND ALREADY ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET T-BONED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT'S NOT SAFE FOR MY FAMILY.
I HAVE A HYUNDAI TUCSON SE PLUS 2.0 LITER HAS ALMOST 21K MILES. I STARTED NOTICING AN ISSUE A FEW WEEKS AGO WHERE IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR SLOW CRAWL. I'VE HAD SOME FRIGHTENING SITUATIONS WHERE TAKING A LEFT TURN IN AN INTERSECTION THERE IS DELAYED ACCELERATION AS MUCH AS 2-5 SECONDS WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED WITH THE AC ON AND UNDRIVABLE UNLESS I TURN THE AC OFF AT THE STOPLIGHT/STOP SIGN. I'VE TRIED ADDING SEA FOAM TO A FULL TANK OF GAS THINKING IT WAS DIRTY FUEL-INJECTORS, BUT NO IMPROVEMENT. MY BROTHER HAS AN IDENTICAL CAR WITH 31K MILES AND CALLED ME TODAY OF HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE ONLY COMMON DENOMINATOR IS IT HAS BEEN HOT (85-90 DEGREES) DURING THE DAY. WHEN THE TEMPERATURES ARE LOWER IN THE MORNING, I DO NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM AS MUCH, BUT IT REMAINS SPORADIC. ALSO, I EXPERIENCED THE CAR SHIFTING AT UNUSUAL TIMES. I RECENTLY HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT THE HYUNDAI DEALER, AND I MENTIONED THE ISSUE. THEY COULD INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM FOR A PRICE WHICH I WAS NOT INCLINED TO DO, MAINLY IF NO CODE WAS TRIGGERED AND IT IS UNDER WARRANTY. MY BROTHER IS TAKING HIS TUCSON NEXT WEEK, AND I WILL WAIT TO SEE WHAT COMES OF IT. IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT TWO IDENTICAL CARS WOULD EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE AT THE SAME TIME. HAVING READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA AND OTHER FORUMS, I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ISSUE HYUNDAI IS NOT ADDRESSING. IF HYUNDAI CAN'T FIX THIS SOON, I WILL TURN THE CAR IN WHEN I LEASE IS UP IN A YEAR.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT, STOP SIGN, ETC. THE VEHICLE STALLS FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE MOVING. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES OR MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY THERE IS A DELAY. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 1.5 YEARS (ORIGINAL OWNER). THESE ISSUES STARTED APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO.

MYSTERIOUS RADIO CODE, INTERFERENCE WITH SIRIUS RADIO SIGNAL, CHANNELS KEPT CHANGING, CANNOT CONTROL VOLUME, DISCOVERED AN ALIEN IPHONE CONNECTED TO BLUE TOOTH, MALICIOUS LINK APPEARED ON 6/11/19 WHEN RADIO WAS TAKEN DOWN TO MANUFACTURING SETTINGS. SPORADIC CONSTANT ISSUES, AC FAN JUST STOPS, CAR DOES NOT TURN OFF, AND CAR HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP. I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE CONSOLE AREA OF THE SIRIUS RADIO. . THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED AN ILLEGAL ANDROID PHONE CONNECTION, AN IMEI NUMBER, ROGUE FIRMWARE AND WIFI, A GOOGLE POWERED REPORTS TO..., A MAP THAT DOES NOT TURN OFF, 2 MAPS PROGRAMMED ON STEERING WHEEL CONSOLE. 10-15 CONSOLE ICONS WERE DISABLED, I THEN DISCOVERED WHEN GOING TO HYUNDAI ON LINE I HAD AN ACCOUNT EITHER SET UP BY HYUNDAI OR THE HACKERS IN MY NAME I COULD NOT ACCESS. IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP ASSISTANCE FOR ME TO GET IN. I DISCOVERED AN OUT DATED PHONE NUMBER AND 2 ID THEFT WARNINGS FROM 4/19 I NEVER RECEIVED, THE BLUE LINK I HAVE ELECTED BUT NEVER DOWNLOADED THE APP FOR REMOTE CONTROL WAS ENABLED AND HAD A HISTORY OF MANY VOICE COMMANDS. I TRIED TO FILE A POLICE REPORT AT OAKLAND COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT, MICHIGAN. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FORENSICS CAPABILITY TO DIAGNOSE AND REFUSED THE REPORT. ON 6/ 25/19 I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEASED MY VEHICLE FROM, ELDER HYUNDAI OF MACOMB, MICHIGAN. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS DISMISSIVE AND STARTED TURNING OFF ICONS, COMPROMISING EVIDENCE, HE TOLD ME THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER MANY OBJECTIONS BY ME. CAR SHAKES WHEN GOING FROM IDLE AND RELEASING THE BRAKE PRIOR TO PUTTING FOOT ON THE GAS. SHAKES WHILE IN PARK AS WELL. MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC AT RED LIGHT, RELEASE BRAKE, INCH UP A FEW FEET WITHOUT TOUCHING ANY PEDALS CAR WILL SHAKE AND SHUTTER.
THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS TIMES, THAT OUR 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON HAS HAD TROUBLE ACCELERATING IN LOW GEAR, WHETHER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A SLOW SPEED (5-10MPH). MOST OFTEN TIMES, WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE TO ACCELERATE IT IS VERY DELAYED, ALMOST NO ACCELERATION RESPONSE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS, AND THEN IT IS VERY JERKY GETTING INTO GEAR AT THAT POINT. I FINALLY HAD ENOUGH OF THIS WHEN MY WIFE AND I CAME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO GETTING REAR ENDED (THE VEHICLE BEHIND US CAME SCREECHING TO A HALT) AS THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION RESPONSE WHEN I PULLED ONTO A 50MPH ROAD AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THIS ACCELERATION ISSUE IS FIXED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND SEEN THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE FOR THIS SAME EXACT CAR. FURTHER, HYUNDAI HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2016 MODEL, BUT THEY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE FOR THE 2017'S. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA AND HYUNDAI TO MAKE THIS A RECALL! FROM LOW SPEED TO TRY TO ACCELERATE DOESN'T ALWAYS WANT TO ACCELERATE. DUAL CLUTCH SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM AND MAYBE SOMETHING ELSE. HYUNDAI SERVICE DID NOTHING TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM, JUST 'LIVE WITH IT'. WOULD THEY LIKE THEIR TEENAGER DRIVING SUCH A CAR?? SOME TIMES CAR LURCHES FORWARD TOO INSTEAD OF HESITATION. GAS MILEAGE TERRIBLE TOO. NOT GETTING WHAT THEY SAID, 18-20 MPH, ONCE IN AWHILE 25 OR 30.
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY ENGAGE PARTICULARLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN COMING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A 4 LANE ROAD, I WAS TURNING LEFT. THERE WAS PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE IT BUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CAR ROLLED OUT ONTO THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS ON A SMALL INCLINE AND NEARLY GOT HIT BY TRAFFIC AS THE ENGINE STRUGGLED TO ENGAGE. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT ACCORDING TO THEM THAT'S HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. IT IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FLAW THAT THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF AN NO LONGER USE THIS SYSTEM IN 2019 TUCSON. THEY KNOW IT'S A FLAW AND REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO ASSIST.
VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS INTERMITTENTLY MAKING NOISES AGAIN AFTER EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS FIXED AND ALSO INTERMITTENTLY RELEASING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE READING, BUT THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD.
THE VEHICLE HESITATES BEFORE ACCELATING AFTER THE CAR IS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. BASICALLY THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. SEEMS "DEAD." AS A DRIVER, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS, THE CAR KICKS IN AND WILL MOVE AFTER AWKARDLY LURCHING FORWARD WHICH IS NOT PARTICULARLY COMFORTABLE OR SAFE FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER BLAMES IT ON THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AND ADVISES THAT IT CANNOT BE FIXED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD LEAD TO ANOTHER DRIVER REAR ENDING MY VEHICLE OR ANOTHER TYPE OF ACCIDENT.

THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE SINCE MAY 9, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

IT COULD BE OVER 7 TO 10 SECONDS STARTING THE ENGINE UNTIL THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. AFTER THAT I OPENED THE HOOD AND I FOUND SOME OIL STAINS ON THE VALVE COVER. ALSO WHERE THE PCV VENTILATION IS IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS SOME OIL VAPORS COMING OUTSIDE. ENGINE IS THE 2.0 GDI (NU ENGINE)
EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE HESITATES. WHEN CAR IS COLD OR WARM. THE FIRST WEEK I HAD IT I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS DUE TO A SMALLER "FUEL EFFICIENT" ENGINE, WHICH I HAD NEVER HAD UNTIL I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 9 MONTHS AGO. NOW IT IS A HUGE AND CONSISTENT ISSUE, I FEEL UNSAFE AND LIKE I CANNOT GET OUT OFF THE WAY IF NEEDED. IT CHUGS FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND THEN ACCELERATES. SOMETIMES IT ACCELERATES ABRUPTLY. THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN.
FROM A STATIONARY POSITION, WHEN YOU APPLY THE GAS, THE CAR MAY LURCH AND JERK LIKE THE CLUTCH ISN'T FULLY ENGAGING AND THEN NOT MOVE AT ALL UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THIS CAN OCCUR IN REVERSE AS WELL. SOMETIMES, WHEN SITTING ON AN INCLINE, IN GEAR AND MAYBE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, THE CAR WILL ROLL BACK WHILE MOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO THE ACCELERATOR. THIS CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS OUTRIGHT DANGEROUS.
PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS BLINKING, WHILE DRIVING
DTC PROBLEM. WHEN STOPPED AND I STEP ON THE GAS TO MOVE, MY CAR 'STUTTERS' AND SEEMS LIKE THE CAR WILL STALL. IF I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS IT WILL LEAP FORWARD. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN JANUARY 2018 BUT HAD PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR AND THEN SAID IT NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE ONE.
WE BOUGHT OUR HYUNDAI TUCSON IN SEPTEMBER 2018 AND WITHIN WEEKS, WE STARTED NOTICING PROBLEMS WITH ERRATIC ACCELERATION AND INCONSISTENT RESPONSE OF GAS PEDAL. WE HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR EVALUATED NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT NOTHING WAS DIAGNOSED TO BE CAUSING THIS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT SAYING THAT THERE ARE SOME KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION THAT HYUNDAI HASN'T COMMUNICATED A SOLUTION TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEREFORE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. OFTEN TIMES THE RPM LEVEL SKYROCKETS LEAVING THE CAR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. OUR 7-SPEED DCT IS HAVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS, HESITATION WITH ACCELERATION, AND NEAR LOSS OF POWER. THE TRANSMISSION PARTICULARLY MISBEHAVES DURING WARMER TEMPERATURES AND CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. AND IS A DANGER TO EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THAT HYUNDAI HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND CONTROL MODULE PROBLEMS BUT IS NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THE VEHICLES IF WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE ALLEGED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WE HAVE BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF LEFT TURNS ON LARGE CITY STREETS, ALMOST GETTING HIT, BECAUSE NOBODY WAS ANTICIPATING THE SUDDEN NON RESPONSE OF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING VERY FREQUENTLY DURING LEFT TURNS, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE QUICK. WE HOPE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS TAKEN SERIOUS AS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING WITH THIS CAR.

THE AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI SERVICE DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. BUT, ACCORDING TO OTHER PUBLIC RECORDS, THE ISSUE SEEMS LIKELY TO BE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT), LATER RENAMED TO "AUTOMATED MANUAL", WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE IN MY TUCSON.
SOMETHING IS MAJORLY WRONG WITH HOW THIS VEHICLE SHIFTS GEARS. WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN, OR DON'T COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY, CAUSING A TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE AND AN OVER REVVING OF THE ENGINE, WHICH RESULTS IN A DELAY IN ACCELERATION. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I HAVE TRIED TO TURN ONTO A STREET OR HIGHWAY AND NEARLY BEEN REAR ENDED OR T-BONED BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE STALLING FOR NO REASON, LEAVING ME FLOUNDERING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET UNTIL THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO SHIFT PROPERLY AND RESUME ACCELERATION. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED, FOR IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT HAPPENS, PROVIDED IT HASN'T ALREADY OCCURRED. IN FACT, I GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT THE OTHER DAY WHILE MERGING ONTO A FRONTAGE ROAD NEXT TO AN INTERSTATE, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS STALLING TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE IS TO BLAME. PLEASE TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AS IT APPEARS THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2017 TUSCONS AS WELL. WHILE DRIVNG ON THE 5N FREEWAY IN THE FAST LANE, MY CAR SEIZED. I HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. WARNING LIGHT SAID NOTHING OF OIL LEAK AND GAVE ME THE TPMS WARNING (TIRE PRESSURE). DIAGNOSIS: OIL PLUG FELL OUT OF OIL PAN, ALL OIL LEAKED AND ENGINE WAS RUINED. WEEKS LATER, I RECIEVE A "NEW" ENGINE AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHY THE PLUG FELL OUT. IF IT WAS LOOSE, IT WOULD HAVE FELL OUT QUICKER THAN 600 MILES AFTER THE OIL WAS SERVICED. PERHAPS IT WAS THE WRONG SIZE OIL PLUG, WE WONT KNOW BECAUSE IT FELL OUT. RECALL IS FOR 2011-2013 MODELS....PERHAPS THE 2017 HAS SAME ISSUES!!! NHTSA'S CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V063. 120,000 HYUNDAI TUCSON SUVS FROM THE 2011 TO 2013 MODEL YEARS. THE OIL PAN MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY SEALED DURING ENGINE PRODUCTION. AS A RESULT, AN OIL LEAK COULD DEVELOP AND LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE, THE ENGINE STALLING, OR EVEN A FIRE, NHTSA SAYS.
TAKARA RECALL. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED I STARTED THE ENGINE. I NOTICED ON THE DASHBOARD IT SAID BATTERY LOW AND MY CAR STARTED TO GO IN REVERSE SLOWLY EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY CAR STILL IN PARK AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AS IT WAS SLOWLY GOING IN REVERSE AND I CHANGE THE GEAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD AND IT STILL WENT BACKWARDS. FINALLY THE CAR CAME TO A STOP I TURNED OFF THE CAR AGAIN AND IT STARTED NORMALLY. THIS IS WHY I'M WRITING TO YOU TODAY THAT MY COMPUTER SCREEN ON MY DASHBOARD TOLD ME THE BATTERY WAS LOW AND IT DID GO IN REVERSE EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK.
MY 2017 TUCSON FEELS AS THOUGH IT WILL STALL DURING SLOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS IN A DRIVE WAY, OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. IT STUTTERS AS THOUGH IT IS A MANUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION WITH AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER. IN ADDITION, WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP SIGN, THE CAR OFTEN DOES NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY TO ACCELERATION AND WILL NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE REVS AT A HIGHER RPM. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS WHEN TURNING RIGHT ONTO A BUSY STREET AND MY CAR DOES NOT RESPOND CREATING A HAZARD AS I ROLL SLOWLY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE COMPLAINT DURING A TEST DRIVE AND THAT THE STUTTERING IS DUE TO THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AND THAT IS IS SUPPOSED TO PERFORM THIS WAY. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN (JULY 2019), I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT THIS DID NOT IMPROVE THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, SO AM PLANNING TO TRADE IT IN TO HYUNDAI AND PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION.
2017 HYUNDAI TUSCON LIMITED.....WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE LAGS AS THOUGH IT IS ABOUT TO STALL, SOMETIMES WITH NO ACCELERATION WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDDLE. EVERYTIME I GET MY CAR SERVICED I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY HAVE HAD 3 DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES DRIVE IT & CONTINUE TO TRY TO EXPLAIN IT AS THE DUAL TRANSMISSION. RECENTLY ENTERING ON THE FREEWAY MY VEHICLE JOLTED &DIED WITH NO POWER I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BARELY MAKING IT OUT OF THE WAY OF A TRUCK THAT WAS SPEEDING UP BEHIND ME. THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINTED THE 'MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT' THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE A CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEM. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID IT WAS A TCU SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE NEXT DAY DROVE LESS THAN A MILE TO CAR WASH, TURNED CAR OFF & WHEN I WENT TO TURN BACK ON NOTHING NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NOTHING AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MIN. CAR STARTED UP. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD & I DONT FEEL COMFORTABLE THAT IT WONT DIE OUT PUTTING MYSELF OR PASSANGERS IN DANGER OR LEAVING ME STRANDED. HYUNDAI SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES NO HELP AT ALL.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONERY. IN SOME CASES IS DIFFICULT TO START THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY HARD (ALMOST ROCK SOLID), DRIVER MUST PRESS HARDER THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE THE VEHICLE START (SMART KEY PROCEDURE). IF VEHICLE DOESN'T DETECT THE DRIVER'S FOOT IN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE WILL NOT START AND IGNITION SWITCH WILL GO TO ACC OR ON POSITION. EVENTS OCCURRED IN 01/24/2019 AND DEALERSHIP (CALLED 01/25/2019) WANTS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 15,2019 BECAUSE THEY ARE FULL UNTIL THAT DATE.
WHEN YOU COME TO A SLOW STOP, AND THEN GO TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT ABOUT TO STALL- THEN WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS, THERE IS A LONG LAG BEFORE THE CAR GAINS ANY MOMENTUM TO MOVE AGAIN. I WAS ALMOST IN A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT AT AN INTERSECTION WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME IT IS A DUAL CLUTCH, BUT THIS IS WAY WORSE THAN A DUAL CLUTCH. I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE LAST WEEK, INT HE MIDDLE LANE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AND THE CAR ALMOST STALLED OUT ON ME IN THE MIDDLE LANE, AND THEN WHEN I HIT THE GAS, IT ACCELERATED AND I ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 30 YEARS AND THIS IS THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. IT IS A DEATH TRAP AND HYUNDAI WONT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I DONT WANT TO DRIVE MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN IT- BUT THEY WONT HELP ME. TODAY, MY BATTERY DIED IN THE CAR, SO I HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO JUMP IT AND TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD!!! THESE MODELS ARE UNSAFE!!
AS I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN SO I PULLED OVER AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. LIGHTS, RADIO, HEAT-ALL WORKING BUT THE ENGINE DOESN'T START. WE HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THE ENGINE SEIZED UP ON US. IT WILL BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT WILL TAKE 1-2 MONTHS FOR A NEW ONE TO COME IN. APPARENTLY HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND IS REDESIGNING THE ENGINES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN BEFORE THEY ARE RECALLED? WHAT IF YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY AND YOUR CAR SHUTS OFF? NO PRIOR WARNING, NOTHING. THEY TRIED TO GIVE US THE SAME BOLOGNA ABOUT ENGINE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES. THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW.
