AS REPORTED BY SOME OTHERS, AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT AN INTERSECTION, WHEN I PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE RPM'S REV UP TO OVER 4000, BUT THE VEHICLE BARELY MOVES FORWARD FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN DURING PERIODS OF HIGH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES AND ONLY SPORADICALLY. THIS DESCRIBES THE EXACT SAME CONDITIONS THAT HYUNDAI RECALLED THE 2016 TUCSONS FOR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016. THIS IS WHAT HYUNDAI SAID THEN: "HYUNDAI SAYS THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH APPLICATION LOGIC CAN CAUSE A DELAYED ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP." WHEN I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, THE TECHNICIANS SAY THAT THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE CONDITION, SO THEY CANNOT PULL A CODE AND FIND A PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN "STUCK" IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED BOTH SITUATIONS AND IT IS NOT SAFE!
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT REMAINS ON WHENEVER AN ADULT WEIGHING MORE THA 120 LBS ARE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH A SMALL PILLOW OR SEAT CUSHION ON THE SEAT. PILLOW IS NEEDED TO ENHANCE SEATING COMFORT, ESPECIALLY ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. LIGHT DOES WORK WHEN PILLOW IS NOT USED. UNFORTUNATELY, SEAT IS POORLY DESIGNED THAT REQUIRES ADDITIONAL AFTER MARKET SUPPORT TO MAKE IT USABLE ON LONG TRIPS. SENSOR NEED TO DETECT PASSENGER WEIGHT WITH OR WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CUSHIONS OR ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG 100% OF THE TIME. I HAVE ALREADY REPORTED THIS TO HYUNDAI, CASE NUMBER 10626629. THEY CLAIMED THE LIGHT IS WORKING AS DESIGNED, ONLY WHEN USED WITHOUT AFTER MARKET CUSHION. MY RESPONSE IS THAT IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT IN DESIGN, IT OBVIOUSLY FAILED IN DETECTING THE TOTAL WEIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. I BELIEVE THAT HYUNDAI WOULD BE AT FAULT SHOULD THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT AND THE PASSENGER IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THERE ARE ADDITIONAL REASONS TO USE CUSHIONS FOR HEALTH OR HANDICAPPED PERSON, FOR EXAMPLE. HOW HARD IS IT TO DETECT TOTAL WEIGHT OF MORE THAN 90 LBS ON TOP OF THAT SEST? THE LIGHT REMAINS OFF WHEN CAR IS MOVING OR STOPPED. IN ADDITION, I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED NO ACCELERATION ON A LEFT TURN WHEN STEPPED ON GAS, AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED BY OTHER'S. ENGINE WOULD REV TO OVER 2000 RPM BUT THE CAR US NOT MOVING FOR ABOUT 30+ SECONDS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU'RE STUCK ON A LEFT TURN.
HESITATION ON ACCELERATION, DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE 2016 TUCSON. MY VEHICLE IS A 2017 TUCSON SE PLUS, THE PROBLEMS ARE THE SAME AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTS REGARDING THE 2016 MODEL. THE EXISTING RECALL NEEDS TO BE BROADENED TO INCLUDE 2017'S. PLUS, I UNDERSTAND THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE DOES NOT GUARANTEE A PERMANENT REPAIR. VERY DANGEROUS. MY CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2017 AND HAS LESS THAN 1300 MILES. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST DISCOVERED TODAY WHILE DOING DAILY ERRANDS.
2017 HYUNDAI TUSCON AWD LIMITED PURCHASED IN MARCH 2017, CURRENTLY 6000 MILES ON VEHICLE. THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT) HUNTS FOR CORRECT GEARS ON OCCASION CREATING HESITATIONS AND STALLING EFFECTS. SEVERAL TIMES (AS MANY AS 10+), STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP AT A LIGHT, THE CAR WILL BEGIN FORWARD PROGRESS WITH NORMAL DEPRESSION OF GAS PEDAL. POWER TO THE WHEELS WILL THEN COMPLETELY VANISH FOR MOMENTS OF TIME (1-2 SECONDS) THEN THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY MOVE FORWARD AGAIN. I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED TWICE DUE TO THIS. I AM LUCKY TO NOT HAVE BEEN T-BONED WHEN CROSSING NON-LIT BUSY INTERSECTIONS. TYPE OF GASOLINE USED (REGULAR OR PREMIUM), DRIVE MODES (STANDARD OR SPORT), HARD DEPRESSION OF PEDAL OR SOFT DEPRESSION OF PEDAL, NOTHING SEEMS TO COINCIDE WITH THE THESE RANDOM OCCURRENCES. THIS IS NOT THE TYPICAL WAY A DCT SHOULD OPERATE. I HAVE DRIVEN VW DCT VEHICLES FOR YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THESE EXTREMELY SCARY HESITATION MOMENTS WITH THEM.
THE CAR HAS DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING AND THEN WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE.
I PURCHASED A 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON DECEMBER 2016. THE FOLLOWING CAMPAIGNS ARE ON MY VEHICLE AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER HYUNDAI'S: MFR CAMPAIGN/SAFETY RECALL NOTICE: T1B MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN ID: T1B 2016-17 TUCSON DCT CONTROL LOGIC UPDATE I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI ON JUNE 28TH FOR THIS RECALL. RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED A CHANGE IN HOW THE VEHICLE DROVE. HOWEVER NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE STARTED DRIVING LIKE IT DID PRIOR TO THE "FIX". A COMPLETE STOP TO ACCELERATION IS NOT SMOOTH, THE VEHICLE JERKS EXTREMELY HARD AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T RESPOND. OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T REAPOND AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF. TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY OR INTO ANY FLOW OF TRAFFIC IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT A CLOSE CALL WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE AND SCARY TO DRIVE. NOT TO MENTION DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC HAS BECOME A "WHEN WILL I CAUSE AN ACCIDENT" MOMENT BECAUSE OF THE STOP TO ACCELERATION LAG, JERK AND THEN RANDOM ACCELERATION WHICH ALMOST REDLINES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR ALL THOSE ON THE HIGHWAY, INCLUDING MYSELF AND THE VEHICLE HAS BECOME A COMPLETE NUISANCE TO DRIVE. MY UNDERSTANDING IS HYUNDAI HAS CLAIMED THEY HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE WITH A SIMPLE UPDATE, AND THE 2017S SHOULD BE OKAY, HOWEVER THE WAY MY VEHICLE DRIVES WOULD ARGUABLY DISAGREE AND PROVE THAT TO BE WRONG. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO OPEN A FULL RECALL OF THESE VEHICLES UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED BECAUSE OF IT. IF NOT THOSE DEATHS WILL BE ON HYUNDAIS HANDS.
WE PURCHASED A 2017 TUSCON LIMITED AWD WITH A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. SINCE WE'VE HAD THIS SUV IT HAS THIS PROBLEM. I HAD MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER AND I FINALLY TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. FROM A STOP ESPECIALLY ON A HILL AND TURNING THE SUV HESITATES THEN KICKS IN AND HESITATES AGAIN, SENDING ME FORWARD IN MY SEAT. I HAVE TO BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE HESITATES SO BADLY I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO BE HIT. BOTTOM LINE I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE. I TOOK THE TUSCON BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY IT'S EXPECTED BEHAVIOR FOR THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THEIR ADVICE IS TO DRIVE IN SPORTS MODE ALL OF THE TIME AND NOT IN THE ECONO MODE. ECONO IS THE DEFAULT MODE AND (IS USED TO SAVE ON GAS) NOT SPORT SO I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I TURN IT ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR AND THERE IS NO WAY TO DEFAULT IT TO SPORTS. MY QUESTION IS WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DRIVE IN SPORTS MODE TO FEEL SAFER. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW AND HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED IT. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION, I'VE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH THE 2017 AS WELL.
NO OR MINIMAL FORWARD MOVEMENT WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FROM A STOPPED POSITION (IN AUTOMATIC). THE OPERATOR MUST DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THERE'S ANY ACCELERATION (AND GETTING HIGH RPMS). IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS ATTEMPTING TO MOVE FORWARD IN THE WRONG GEAR - THERE'S NO POWER/TORQUE. THIS SITUATION OCCURS FREQUENTLY AND IS MOST DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION FROM A FULL STOP - ESPECIALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING A LEFT-HAND TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC (BUT NOT LIMITED TO TURNS). THE VEHICLE SLOWS ALMOST TO A STALL. THESE SYMPTOMS OCCUR IN ALL 3 DRIVE MODES: ECO, STANDARD, AND SPORT. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THESE SYMPTOMS AT NIGHT OR LEAVING A GARAGE IN THE MORNING. IT APPEARS TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SUN FOR A LONG PERIOD, I.E, WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF THE VEHICLE IS HOT. I LIVE IN ARIZONA. AS ADDED CONTEXT, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS IS MY 3RD HYUNDAI TUCSON SE. THE PREVIOUS MODELS WERE 2010 AND 2013. I NEVER EXPERIENCED THESE SYMPTOMS WITH THOSE EARLIER MODELS. I HAVE 3000+ MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE MORE OR LESS EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW.
WHEN TRYING TO TURN OFF THE TUCSON (VEHICLE HAS PUSH BUTTON START) TO REFILL THE GAS TANK, THE ENGINE DIDN'T TURN OFF. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS ON, IT RESTARTED AGAIN THE ENGINE, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WITH RPM'S AROUND 500 RPM. SOME SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE RPM STABILIZED (NORMAL IDLE). I PRESSED THE PUSH BUTTON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF SUCCESSFULLY. WENT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. NO CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT INTO LOW GEAR ON ITS OWN. ALSO, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SPORT DURST AUTOMOTIVE (4511 DURHAM-CHAPEL HILL BLVD, DURHAM, NC 27707, (877) 262-3223) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 13622118. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 805. *DT*JB *BF
DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE SUV HAS STALLED OR HESITATED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, RPM GO UP BUT NOT THE SPEED . ONCE ON I-20 AND OTHER TIMES IN THE CITY, IN MOTION AS WELL AS TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPT. FEAR OF GETTING HIT BY OTHER DRIVERS .

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND WAS BACK TO NORMAL AUTOMATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER, HATFIELD HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 1400 AUTO MALL PKWY, COLUMBUS, OH 43228; (855) 627-7144, AND WHERE THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 844-462-5557. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE GARAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
VEHICLE HESITATES AFTER STOP OR VERY LOW SPEED. ACCELERATOR FAILS TO ENGAGE WITH A MULTII SECOND DELAY THAT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS MAKING LEFT TURNS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. NHTSA NOW HAS OVER A DOZEN OF THIS SAME COMPLAINT FROM ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY. IT'S TIME FOR A RECALL! THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. LET'S NOT WAIT UNTIL WE START TO SEE DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO THIS.
THE DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, AS IT HAS AN EXTREME DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN COMING OFF A COMPLETE STOP OR JUST INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING, IN WHICH THE ENGINE WILL REDLINE IN RPM. PARKING LOTS ARE ABSOLUTE MISERY AS WELL, AS THE VEHICLE JERKS HEAVILY AT LOW SPEEDS. ANOTHER SHOCKING ISSUE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION IS THAT IT WILL PROPEL THE CAR FORWARD 3-5 MPH EVEN WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND GOING UP A HILL. IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS TRANSMISSION IS LEGAL TO SELL TO CAR BUYERS AND I HOPE THE NHTSA TAKES FURTHER ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI. I'VE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND I'M GOING TO BE OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, AS I CAN'T DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I'M CURRENTLY SEARCHING FOR THE BEST OPTION OF REMEDIATION; PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. I TRULY HOPE HYUNDAI DOES NOT GET AWAY WITH RELEASING SUCH A DANGEROUS PRODUCT INTO THEIR VEHICLES.
STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE MUCH AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND THE RPM'S INCREASED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UP TO ANY SPEED.
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE OR DELAYS TO ENGAGE IN LOW GEARS. THE PROBLEM IS VERY PREVALENT UNDER HOT TEMPERATURES CHANGES IN INLINES. MOST OFTEN THE ISSUE OCCURS OFF THE LINE AND WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT HE HAS HAD DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS BUT HAS NOT HEARD OF ANY RESOLUTIONS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS CAUSED MORE THAN NEAR ACCIDENT SENARIO. THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED FROM THE FIRST DAY THAT I THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BUT HAS BEEN BRUSHED OFF AND HYUNDAI REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DUTCH MILLER HYUNDAI (1202 WASHINGTON AVE, HUNTINGTON, WV 25704) ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND EACH TIME THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HESITATION WAS NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
Hyundai issued a major recall in 2025 for models like the Sonata, Tucson, and Santa Fe due to faulty piston rings and ECM settings that caused oil to burn rapidly. consume oil excessively due to defective piston rings, engine control module (ECM) issues, or poor engine design. These problems cause oil to burn inside the engine rather than leak externally. it needs to be recalled or replaced this is a saftey issue for me and my family it is using excessive oil and there are no visible leaks please fix it this !
AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL, SEVERE LAG. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN 3 ACCIDENTS IN 2 WEEKS, I AM ON BLOOD THINNERS SO THIS PRESENTS A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE FOR ME, I AM PURSUING ALL COMPLAINT OPTIONS AND LOOKING FOR A FULL REFUND. THE CAR IS ONLY 2.5 WEEKS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 100 MILES ON IT. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT SO YOU CAN NEVER BE SURE WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO GO BACK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER AT RTE 2 HYUNDAI. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,524. UPDATED 08/29/17*LJ *CN
WHEN ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE VIBRATES SOFTLY AT AROUND 4,000 RPM, DRIVER CAN HEAR THE DOORS AND DASH PANELS VIBRATING. IT HAS BEEN THAT WAY SINCE BRAND NEW. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN THE SERVICE PERSONNEL BUT THEY SAY THAT IS NORMAL. ALSO WHEN I START THE ENGINE COLD THERE WAS A NOISE LIKE THE CVVT SPROCKET DIDN'T HAVE SUFFICIENT OIL, ALSO THEY TOLD ME THAT IS NORMAL. AFTER THAT, I CHANGED THE OIL MYSELF AND I FILLED THE ENGINE WITH A SYNTHETIC OIL AND THAT NOISE DISAPPEARED AFTER 1 DAY OF USE.
THE VEHICLE HAS A DRIVE-BY-WIRE SYSTEM CONTROLLING THE THROTTLE AND THE 7-SPEED DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, THE THROTTLE PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT ON THE THROTTLE WHATSOEVER. IT HAPPENS MOST IN 'ECO' MODE, BUT STILL HAPPENS IN 'SPORT' MODE, ALWAYS AT A RELATIVELY LOW SPEED (WALKING PACE) OR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ONE FIRMWARE UPDATE (AT ABOUT 3K MILES?) WHICH DID MINIMIZE THE PROBLEM SOMEWHAT, BUT DIDN'T ELIMINATE IT. AT 7,900 MILES THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, AND THE DEALER SAYS THERE ARE NO NEW FIRMWARE UPDATES THEY ARE AWARE OF. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE MANY TIMES, WHEN IN SLOW OR STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, I'VE NEEDED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE SIMPLY WOULDN'T DO IT FOR WHAT FELT LIKE FOREVER, BUT WAS PROBABLY ONLY A SECOND OR TWO. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY DID START TO MOVE, IT JUMPED FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE. THE SERVICE WRITER AT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT, AND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED, SPECIFICALLY, ABOUT TRYING TO PULL OUT OF THEIR DEALERSHIP ONTO A BUSY STREET AND HAD THEIR VEHICLE SIMPLY REFUSE TO ACCELERATE. ON JUST ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE UP TO THE ENGINE'S REDLINE, WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE! AS BAD AS IT IS, I EXPECT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM.

MY VEHICLE HAS A CONSISTENT DELAY IN ACCELERATION AND THE VEHICLE STUTTERS WHENEVER I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM A STOP OR WHEN INCREASING SPEED WHILE MOVING SLOWLY. I HAVE THE SAME LACK OF THROTTLE RESPONSE WITH MY VEHICLE. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED NEARLY 10 TIMES WHICH STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 150 MILES ON THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THIS BEHAVIOR OF THE CAR CAN CAUSE YOU TO BE OUT IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC FOR UPWARDS OF 5-7 SECONDS OR LONGER. THIS IS A VERY SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AS A CAR SHOULD NEVER HAVE A DELAY IN ACCELERATION OF MORE THAN 1-2 SECONDS LET ALONE 5 OR MORE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DID NOT GAIN SPEED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A LIGHT. DOWNEY HYUNDAI (7550 FIRESTONE BLVD, DOWNEY, CA 90241, (562) 314-4331) WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS STILL WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND HAD NOT ISSUED ANY TRANSMISSION RECALLS. VERY POOR ACCELERATION FORM STOP. THE HESITATION IS VERY DANGEROUS
ON THURSDAY, JAN 12TH, AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN MY 2 WEEK OLD 2017 TUCSON, I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT DIDN'T MOVE. I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE GAS THEN PRESSED AGAIN AND IT SPUTTERED FORWARD AS IF IT WASN'T GETTING GAS. I STOPPED, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, WAITED A MINUTE, THEN PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE. IT HESITATED A BIT THEN SEEMED TO BE OK. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SOME KIND OF "UPDATE" IN 3 DAYS. I HOPE THIS RESOLVES THE ISSUE. IN THE MEANTIME, I WILL DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE FOR TRANSPORTATION AS THIS IS POTENTIALLY QUITE DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AUTOMATICALLY AND RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CLAY HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 391 PROVIDENCE HWY, NORWOOD, MA 02062; (844) 464-3563) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. ALSO, WHILE AT A STOP SIGN ON A HILL, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AUTOMATICALLY AND RETURNED TO NORMAL. YESTERDAY, WHEN THE CONTACT PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE STALLED AND ROLLED FORWARD WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500.
I'M WRITING THIS IN REGARD TO THE ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH OUR TUCSON WE BOUGHT NEW ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. FROM EARLY ON IT SEEMED THE TRANSMISSION LOSES POWER/ CHUGS. HYUNDAI SENT OUT A SURVEY ABOUT A MONTH AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND I STATED MY ISSUES THEN. MY WIFE HAS HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT NUMEROUS OF TIMES JUST TO BE TOLD THEY RESET THE TRANSMISSION, CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE OR HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND LOOKING INTO IT. BUT LOOKING IN TO THIS ONLINE SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT LOSES POWER/ CHUGS WHEN TURNING LEFT IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR WHEN PASSING SOMEONE. AT THIS POINT SEEMS HYUNDAI USA IS GIVING US (AND OTHERS ACCORDING TO ONLINE) THE RUN AROUND. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED QUICKLY.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI'S 10 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY, ''REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF POWERTRAIN COMPONENTS (I.E., SELECTED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE COMPONENTS), ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED OR INSTALLED BY HYUNDAI THAT ARE DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL OR FACTORY WORKMANSHIP, UNDER NORMAL USE AND MAINTENANCE.' CURRENTLY, CERTAIN HYUNDAI VEHICLES WITH A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLES TO SHUDDER AND LURCH, CAUSING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS FOR DRIVERS AND TRAFFIC. A CIVIL ACTION LAWSUIT HAS COME OUT AWARDING ANYONE WITH THESE VEHICLES MONETARY COMPENSATION BUT HAS AN UNFAIR AND POINTLESS CUTOFF AT A CERTAIN MILEAGE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUE PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLES AND STILL DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM OF DRIVER'S SAFETY AS HYUNDAI REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE. BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSIONS USE COMPUTERS, THE ISSUE IS THAT THERE IS NOT A CODE YET CREATED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE. IT IS ALSO NOT POSSIBLE TO SWITCH THE TRANSMISSION OUT FOR ONE THAT DOES NOT LURCH FROM OTHER MODELS AS IT WILL NOT FIT INTO THE CARS CORRECTLY. BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION THAT THREATENS DRIVER'S SAFETY, IT COULD BE VIEWED AS VIOLATING PRODUCT LIABILITY LAWS. THIS MIGHT BE AN ISSUE WORTH INVESTIGATING AND THE PUBLICITY COULD HELP DRIVERS WITH THESE VEHICLES BY PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE COMPANY TO FIX THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF JUST PAYING THEM OFF FOR THEIR SILENCE.
