WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED IN THE FRONT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THEY WERE REPLACED, AND THE ROTORS TURNED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. OWNER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES WERE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER. *AK
CONDENSATION INSIDE HEADLIGHTS. *JB
I PURCHASED MY 2003 INFINITI G35 IN OCTOBER 2003. I ONLY HAVE 19,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING LOUDLY SINCE ABOUT 13,0000 MILES. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 2 OR 3 OCCASIONS WHEN I'VE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. I'VE BOUGHT SEVERAL CARS AND NEVER HAVE I HEARD THAT THE BREAKS SQUEAKING UNBEARABLY WAS NORMAL. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL I BRING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND IF THE BRAKES ARE EVEN MORE WORN DOWN THEY MIGHT SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO. I DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR IS EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. DO THE BREAKS HAVE TO TOTALLY GO OUT AND I RUN INTO THE BACK OF SOMEONE BEFORE I CAN GET THEM FIXED UNDER WARRANTY??? I HAVE A 95 MUSTANG AND IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN MY 2003 INFINITI. I DON'T WANT TO PAY 30,000 FOR A CAR THAT SQUEEKS AS IF I'M DRIVING AN OLD BEAT UP LEMON. HELP! KDJ. *AK
2003 INFINITI G-35 BLOWN UP IN DRIVEWAY AND HOUSE CAUGHT FIRE. *BF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THE FIRE ORIGINATED INSIDE OF THE TRUNK WHERE THE TRUNK LIGHT BULB BECAME SO HOT THAT THE LIGHT BULB EXPLODED, THE HOT PARTICLES FROM THE LIGHT BULB CAUGHT THE TRUNK AND THE CONTENTS IN THE TRUNK ON FIRE. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE FORGOT TO CLOSE THE TRUNK SECURELY. BEFORE THE FIRE, THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW AND SUNROOF. *JB
I HAVE HAD FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND TIRE WEAR PROBLEMS ON MY INFINITI FROM DAY ONE OF BUYING THE CAR. *AK
(1) VERY OFTEN I AM UNABLE TO FILL FUEL TANK BEYOND 1/2 FULL. TRIED MANY FUEL SITES, CAN OCCUR AT ALL. HAS GOTTEN WORSE IN COLD WEATHER-BELOW 50*(FOR SO.CAL). IT ACTS LIKE A RESTRICTION IN THE FUEL NECK BUT NONE WERE FOUND. MUST BE OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM.(2) OFTEN HAVE TO DRIVE WITH 1/2 TANK ONLY.(3) NOTHING WAS FOUND, NO CHARGES TO ME. EVEN IF I WAIT A MINUTE FOR POSSIBLE GAS 'FOAM" TO SUBSIDE,NO HELP. *AK
2003 INFINITI G35 SEDAN WITH AERO PACKAGE. RAVEL PAN IS LOCATED UNDER ENGINE AND SECURED TO FRONT BUMPER. THE FRONT BUMPER WORE THIN THROUGH NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, SPLITTING THE BUMPER IN TWO PIECES ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE BUMPER RELEASING THE GRAVEL PAN AND CREATING AN AIR SCOOP WHICH FLAPS FREELY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. IT IS POOR ENGINEERING THAT WOULD ALLOW THE PAN TO BE SECURED TO THE BUMPER COVER WHEN THE BUMPER COVER (PLASTIC) CAN BE EASILY WORN AWAY BY ALWAYS PRESENT CONCRETE CURBS IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THUS RELEASING THE PAN. THE EDGE ALONG WHICH THE BUMPER COVER SPLIT SHOULD BE ALTERED OR REINFORCED SO AS NOT TO IMPACT CURBS AND WEAR AWAY.*AK
WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ENGINE RACED. THE CONSUMER SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK *TC *JB
I HAVE A 2003 G35 SEDAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 13,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A SIDESTREET AT 35 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT A MAJOR FOUR LANE CROSS STREET, REMOVED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO BEGIN SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR SPONTANEOUSLY REVVED AT HIGH RPM (OVER 6000 RPM). HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE FORCEFULLY TO ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR POWERED THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND INTO THE FIRST CROSS LANE OF THE FOUR LANE STREET. A CAR ON THE CROSS STREET HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID STRIKING OUR VEHICLE. THE CAR COULD ONLY BE STOPPED BY THROWING THE SHIFT LEVER INTO NEUTRAL. ON TWO PREVIOUS OCCASIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT ONE MONTH OLD, EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN SPONTANEOUS REVVING OF THE ENGINE WHILE STOPPED AT A SIGNAL. THE TWO PREVIOUS OCCURRENCES DID NOT RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ON THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR SERVICING DEALER (AUTOPLACE INFINITI), WHERE THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE CONDUCTED A THOROUGH DIAGNOSTIC. THEY REPORTED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY DEFECTS, COMPUTER ERROR CODES OR MANUFACTURER SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS PROBLEM, AND, OF COURSE, WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE WRITTEN TO INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AS WE ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS BEEN IDLE IN OUR GARAGE THE PAST THREE WEEKS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM INFINITI AS TO THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. *NM
RETURNING FROM A VACATION TRIP COMING FROM MISSOURI TO LOUISIANA ON INTERSTATE 10 I NOTICED A VIBRATION IN THE REAR OF MY 2003 INFINITI G35. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD A TIRE THAT WAS GOING FLAT. I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND DROVE ABOUT 2 MILES AND CHECKED THE TIRES, ALL TIRES WERE INFLATED. I DROVE AND DROPPED OFF A PASSANGER AND MY SON, THE CAR CONTINUED TO VIBRATE. DRIVING SLOWLY (NO MORE THA 25 MPH) THE VIBRATION CONTUED TO GET WORSE, SINCE MY WIFE AND I WERE ONLY ABOUT TWO MILES FROM OUR HOME I CONTINED. THE ENTIRE WHEEL OF THE RIGHT PASSANGER SIDE FELL OFF! THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 1AM. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF OF THE ROADWAY AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT MORNING I CALLED INFINITI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO RAY BRANDT INFINITI IN METAIRIE, LA. THE DEALER CALLED ME AT ABOUT 3PM AND SAID THE COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE ABOUT $900.00 PLUS THE BODY REPAIR. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT PAY IT AND WAS REFERRED TI INFINITI'S TOLL FREE NUMBER. INFINITI HAS AGREED TO REPAIR THE CAR AND HAS NOT ACCEPTED ANY LIABILITY. I WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A RELEASE. I'VE TOLD INFINITI NOT TO REPAIR THE CAR UNTIL I SEE THE RELESSE FORM AND THE REPAIRS ARE DETAILED IN WRITING. AT THIS POINT THE OLD PARTS MAY BE AVAILABLE. *AK
2003 INFINITI G35 WAS TURNING INTO PARKING STALL AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TOUCHED. BRAKES WERE NOT USED WITH SUFFICIENT FORCE TO STOP THE CAR. CAR JUMPED CURB, TRAVELED FIFTY FEET AND HIT A TREE.*AK
I AM A MASTER MECHANIC AND HAVE WORKED IN THE INDUSTRY SINCE 1969. I ALSO PERFORMED ACIDENT INVESTIGATIONS FOR MERCED BENZ NORTH AMERICA. I NOW OWN A SMALL REPAIR FACILITY IN CA. AND IN THE CORSE OF MAKEING REPAIRS TO THREE G35 INFINITIS (YEARS 2003 AND 2004) I HAVE FOUND THE FUEL FILLER HOSE CRACKED AND BRITTLE. I HAVE A G35 LNFINITY MYSELF AND HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF THE PROBLEM. MY CAR NOW HAS ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FUEL HOSE IS CRACKING. I HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE DEALER AND HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO INFINITY CONSUMER COMPLAINT LINE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGE THAT MY G35 HAS NO PROBLEM AND HE'S ONLY SEEN THE PROBLEM ON THE FX. I PERSONLY REINSPECTED THE HOSE AND FOUND A CRACK, ONE WHICH ALSO CAN BE FELT , IS ABOUT 1/4" LONG AND HALF WAY THROUGHT THE HOSE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AND EXPLAINED THAT IN THE CASE OF A REAR END ACCIDENT THE HOSE COULD REPTURE, SPILL FUEL AND CREAT A PINTO LIKE BOMB. I FEEL THAT THE DEALER IS PUTTING ME OFF, AND THAT NISSIAN IS TRYING TO SWEEP THE PROBLEM UNDER THE RUG AND IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND . I WANT YOUR AGENICY TO BE AWARE OF THE NEED FOR A SAFETY HAZZARD.THE FUEL HOSE IS NOT READLY SEEN AND I NOTICED THE PROBLEM ONLY AFTER HAVEING REMOVED THE REAR AXLE SUBFRAME FOR REPLACEMENT OF A FUEL TANK. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT GOING TO SHOW UNTILL THE IS A HIGH RATE OF FAILER, OR WORST, UNTILL PEOPLE START GETTING INJURED OR KILLED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER WAS HIT FROM THE SIDE. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
NISSAN HAS ORDERED A TSB/ RECALL FOR THE 350-Z FOR FRONT END ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS THAT CAUSE PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. I OWN A 2003 INFINITI G-35 COUPE. THE 350-Z AND THE G-35 COUPE SHARE THE SAME PLATFORM AND VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL SUSPENSIONS. MY CAR IS SUFFERING FROM THE SAME ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS, YET NISSAN WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES AND WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. *LA
VEHICLE HAD ISSUES WITH NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 5 MPH. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED IT WAS A PINCHED CRUISE CONTROL GROUND WIRE AND FIXED IT UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE OPERATED FINE FOR ONE WEEK, HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. TOWED VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME WAS TOLD THAT THE ECU AND WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO IT GETTING WET FROM A GROMMET THAT WAS LOOSE DUE TO A AFTERMARKET ELECTRONICS WIRE UNDER IT. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAVE NOT HAD VEHICLE FOR ~5 WEEKS AND NO LOANER CAR WAS PROVIDED. UPON QUESTIONING INFINITI ABOUT WHY THE DELAY, I WAS TOLD THAT APPARENTLY THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS AND NONE WERE AVAILABLE. THIS IS BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE 2003.5 G35 COUPE HAS A DIFFERENT HARNESS THAN THE 04 G35 COUPE. WAS TOLD JAPAN HAD TO SPECIALLY MAKE A HARNESS AND SHIP IT. WILL NOT GET HARNESS TILL THE 20TH OF MARCH. PROBLEM WAS THAT DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THE PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST TRIP THERE. HAD THAT BEEN CAUGHT I WOULD NOT BE PAYING ~3000.00 AND WITH OUT A CAR FOR 5 WEEKS. UPON TRYING TO DISCUSS OPTIONS WITH SERVICE MANAGER I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD GO TO COURT, AND THAT THEY WOULD WIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE MONEY THAN I DO. *AK
ON JANUARY 26TH, 2004 I WAS COMING BACK FROM SCHOOL ON THE STATE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY G35 COUPE (2003) WENT OUT CONTROL. AS A RESULT I CRASHED INTO THE MEDIAN AND DAMAGED THE CAR BADLY. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR FOR LITTLE OVER HALF A YEAR AND IT NEVER SEEM TO BE PERFORMING BAD. THAT DAY I WAS JUST SHOCKED AFTER WHAT HAPPENED. IT LOOKED LIKE I WOULD PULL A HAND BRAKE AND START MAKING DONUTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I CAN ALSO TELL YOU THAT MY CASE IS THE SAME AS COMPLAINT NUMBER 10018618. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT I SKID ON THE BLACK ICE BUT THE ROADWAY WAS PERFECTLY DRY WHEN I CHECKED AFTERWARDS. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW CAN I INVESTIGATE MY CASE, BECAUSE I AM 100% CONVINCED THAT SOMETHING WAS MALFUNCTIONING IN MY CAR AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE THAT TRAVELING ON THE STRAIGHT ROAD I STARTED TO SPIN LIKE CRAZY ALL THE SUDDEN.*AK *JB
FROM THE SECOND YEAR AFTER PURCHASE OF AUTO, THE HEADLIGHT OUTER PLASTIC COVER HAS BECOME WHITISH AND OPAQUE, LIMITING THE LIGHT OUTPUT OF HEADLIGHT AND REDUCING ROAD ILLUMINATION, THUS PROVIDING LIMITED ROAD ILLUMINATION AL NIGHT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING FUEL LINE DISCONNECTED FROM THE FUEL TANK . THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER, AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY 2003 INFINITI G35 HAS AN UNSAFE BRAKE SYSTEM. SINCE IT WAS NEW AND BEFORE 24,000 MILES, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED 3 TIMES. THEY WEAR OUT SO FAST THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO KNOW WHEN THEY ARE UNSAFE. THEY ALWAYS HAVE SQUEAKED LOUDLY, EVEN WHEN NEW SO THAT IS NOT AN INDICATOR. INFINITI STOPPED PUTTING THIS BRAKE SYSTEM IN THE G35 6 MONTHS AFTER MANUFACTURING STARTED AND THEY GAVE A 3 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE BRAKES OF THESE CARS, SO THEY KNEW THEY HAD A PROBLEM. THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX THIS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFTS BACK AND FORTH ON THE RAILS WHEN STARTING AND STOPPING. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE PEDAL OR GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED FURTHER THAN INTENDED. THIS IS MOST CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED INFINITI AND BEEN TOLD THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT HAVE AN IMMINENT SOLUTION. I NEED THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED ON MY VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY! *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND WITH NO WARNING TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
NOTICING THAT BRAKES MAKE A SQUEALING SOUND WHEN USED AND DONT STOP AS WELL AS THEY USED TO.*AK
I TOOK IN THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE FOR RECALLS AND THE SERVICE DEPT. NOTIFIED ME THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ON BOTH SIDES WERE ALMOST COMPLETELY WORN OUT AND THE ROTORS WOULD NEED RESURFACING. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SAME DEALER IN APRIL 2002 AND THE CAR WAS BUILT IN MARCH 2002. THE CAR PRESENTLY HAS 16K MILES ON IT. IT IS RIDICULOUS, EVEN WITH PERFORMANCE BRAKES, FOR THEM TO FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. INFINTI TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL.I HAVE A BMW 540 AND ITS DEFINETLY NOT NORMAL AND THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. INFINITI SHOULD REPPLAVE THE BRAKES AT LEAST THROUGH THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR FREE.*AK
1) CAR HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY CARED FOR. AT 44,450 MILES, THE ENGINE DIES UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE GOING AT 25MPH. ENGINE CRANKS ROUGHLY FOR A LONG TIME AT START, BUT STARTS EVENTUALLY. I GET THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT", "VDC OFF" AND "SLIP" LIGHT ON. 2) THE ERROR WAS ASSOCIATED TO "CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR". SINCE THE START OF THIS CONDITION, ENGINE DIES ATLEAST ONCE EVERY DRIVE - MOSTLY AT LOW RPM, BUT TWICE AT 25 AND 40 MPH RESULTING IN NEAR COLLISIONS! I CALLED INFINITI AND THEY MENTIONED THAT MY PARTICULAR VIN HAS NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR THIS CONDITION - BUT I CLEARLY SEE A 630,000 CAR RECALL FOR THIS CONDITION UNDER ENGINE & ENGINE COOLING WITH NHTSA ID# 03V455000. 3) THE DEALERSHIP IS WILLING TO REPAIR FOR $105/HR FOR SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY A VEHICLE DEFECT. THEY WILL CHANGE THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT ROCKS ON BRAKING/TURNING. I HAD THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED ABOUT THE SEAT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY REPLACED A PART IN THE SEAT. IT HELPS SOMEWHAT BUT THERE IS STILL TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. IT MAKES YOU WONDER IF THE SEAT IS ACTUALLY SECURED TO THE CAR PROPERLY, AND ALSO IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, WOULD THE SEAT HOLD UP APPROPRIATELY? ALSO THE BRAKES ARE SQUEALING AT 10,000 MILES. ACTUALLY, THEY'VE BEEN SQUEALING FOR THE LAST 4,000 MILES. THEY ARE STARTING TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AS WELL SOMETIMES. I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS YET, BUT IT IS A CONCERN THAT THE BRAKES COULD FAIL. I PREVIUOSLY HAD AN EXPEDITION AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH THOSE BRAKES AS WELL, BUT WOULD NORMALLY GET 20,000 TO 25,000 MILES OUT OF THEM.*AK
THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ONLY BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I PUT VERY MILEAGE ON MY CAR, I TRAVEL ALONE AT NIGHT/VERY EARLY MORNING. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM IN A DESERTED AREA AND MY BRAKES FAIL? I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN EVERY 8.000 MILES AND I FIND THAT VERY UNREASONABLE. INFINITY SHOULD REPLACE THESE LIGHT BRAKES FOR A HEAVIER SYSTEM.
PURCHASED G35 SEDAN SEPT 2002 EQUIPPED WITH PREMIUM PACKAGE INCLUDING POWER DRIVERS SEAT. DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFTS OR ROCKS WHEN MOVING FROM A STANDSTILL OR UNDER HARD ACCELLERATION. THIS UNEXPECTED SEAT MOVEMENT IS UNNERVING WHILE NAVIGATING THE VEHICLE AND MAY BE A POTENTIAL DANGER. *AK
MY INFINITI HAD COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT ONLY 1,800 MILES. INFINITI IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND I HAVE HAD THE CAR ONLY 2 MONTHS. AFTER JUST ONE WEEK, THE CAR HAD PROBLEMS STARTING, SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. *AK

TOOK MY INFINITI G35 TO DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE AT 15,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD MY BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING WITH ONLY 10% REMAINING. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED PREMATURE BRAKE FAILURE IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM FOR G35'S. MY WIFE AND I ARE NOT HARD DRIVERS AND TYPICALLY DRIVE 40,000 MILES BETWEEN BRAKE JOBS. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IF I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKES EVERY YEAR. INFINITI SHOULD SHARE THE COST WITH G35 OWNERS FOR AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW. *LA

THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ON MY G35 (ONE YEAR OLD WITH 11,000 MILES) NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE REAR BRAKE PADS, THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN HARD AND THE WEAR IS EXTREMELY PREMATURE. IT MAY CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT ADMIT/INFORM CUSTOMERS THAT THIS PREMATURE WEAR IS AN ISSUE, THEY CLASSIFY IT AS NORMAL WEAR WHICH IT MOST CERTAINLY IS NOT.

I TOOK MY INFINITI G35 TO SF PENINSILA INFINITI FOR CREALKING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT MY FRONT BRAKES PADS NEED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE PADS WORE OUT THE ROTORS AND THE ROTORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. ACCORDING THE DEALER MEASURMENTS, MY ROTORS THICKNESS WHERE 23.91 MM, SO 1.09 MM WAS EATEN BY THE PADS. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR MOSTLY ON FREEWAY AND THE BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN ABUSED BY ANY WAY. THAT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IN HARDER USE THE ROTORS WILL BE COMPROMISED. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT MOST OWNERS MUST REPLACE BRAKES AND ROTORS IN LESS THAN 15000 MILES. I SUBMIT TWO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES OF G35: 1. SAFETY - THE ROTORS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND CAN GO UNDER SAFE LIMIT VERY EASY SINCE MOST CUSTOMERS DOES NOT EXPECT EXTREME EARLY WEAR. THE SAME POINT CAN BE MADE FOR THE PADS. IT IS POSSIBLE THE BRAKE SYSTEM INTERACTS IN UNEXPECTED WAY WITH VDC AND ABC SO THE PADS BECOME ENGAGED IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS. 2. WARRANTY COVERAGE - I WAS CHARGED $510 FOR FRONT BRAKE PADS AND NEW ROTORS. THE INFINITI G35 MAINTENANCE AND WARRANTY BOOK EXPLICITLY LIST THE PADS AS REPLACEBLE ITEMS, BUT DOES NOT MENTION THE ROTORS. THE DEALER COULD NOT POINT OUT WHERE IN THE INFINITI WARRANTY BOOK THE ROTORS ARE EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY COVERAGE. SINCE INFINITI WROTE THE WARRANTY BOOK, IF SOMETHING IS NOT EXPLICITLY EXCLUDED FROM THE WARRANTY, IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT INFINITI SPECIFICALLY PRONHIBITS HIM FROM REPLACING THE ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY. IN THIS CASE INFINITI DEALER OVERCHARGED ME BY $280 BY WHAT IS THE PRICE OF NEW ROTORS. THE PREMATURE FAILURE I HAD MAKES ME TO BELIEVE THAT INFINITI G35 HAS PROBLEMATIC OR FAULTY FRONT BRAKE DESIGN THAT MAY LEAD TO INCIDENTS. FINALLY, I REQUESTED THE ROTORS AND THE PADS IN QUESTION. THE PADS HAVE AT LEAST 5MM MATERIAL LEFT, SO THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT THE MATERIAL OF THE PADS OR THE ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE. I CAN PROVIDE THE PADS AND THE ROTORS FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
I TOOK IN THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE FOR RECALLS AND THE SERVICE DEPT. NOTIFIED ME THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ON BOTH SIDES WERE ALMOST COMPLETELY WORN OUT AND THE ROTORS WOULD NEED RESURFACING. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SAME DEALER IN APRIL 2002 AND THE CAR WAS BUILT IN MARCH 2002. THE CAR PRESENTLY HAS 17.5K MILES ON IT. IT IS RIDICULOUS, EVEN WITH PERFORMANCE BRAKES, FOR THEM TO FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. MY PREVIOUS CAR THAT I TRADED IN TO THIS DEALER WAS A 1998 320 HP PONTIAC T/A WITH AN EVEN GREATER WEIGHT AND POWER THAN THIS CAR, AND THE BRAKES LASTED 40K MILES. I BELIEVE THE BRAKES INFINITI USES IN THE G35 SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR FREE FOR THE DURATION OF THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. ALSO, MAKE SURE YOUR DEALER PUTS SOMETHING IN WRITING THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE ROTORS ONCE THEY ARE SERVICED BEYOND REPAIR. DON'T LET THE INFINITI SERVICE DEPT. AT 11,784 MILES (AFTER 16 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP) I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL SHOP FOR ITS FOURTH OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS ON MY 2003 INFINITI G35 SEDAN WERE VERY CLOSE TO BEING WORN OUT. I DROVE TO THE LOCAL INFINTI DEALER (INFINITI OF WILLOW GROVE, PA) THAT SAME DAY AND ARRANGED FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY I DROPPED OFF MY CAR, AND WAS LATER INFORMED BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT YES, THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WORN BEYOND SPECIFICATION AND THAT THE FRONT PADS WERE WORN VERY CLOSE TO REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT INFINITI WOULD COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT ROTORS AS A ONE-TIME GOODWILL GESTURE DUE TO THE LOW MILEAGE ON THE CAR, BUT I WAS TO BEAR THE COST OF BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT. I ORDERED OEM FRONT BRAKE PADS FROM GRUBBS INFINITI OF TEXAS. I LATER BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO INFINITI OF WILLOW GROVE FOR ROTOR REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY. I THEN TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MY LOCAL SHOP, WHERE THEY INSTALLED NEW OEM FRONT BRAKE PADS. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY INFINITI CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS THAT THESE ARE EUROPEAN-STYLE BRAKES THAT WEAR OUT QUICKLY IN EXCHANGE FOR GREATER STOPPING POWER. IN MY PREVIOUS CAR (1990 MAXIMA), UNDER SIMILAR DRIVING HABITS AND PATTERNS, I WOULD NORMALLY GET 30-35,000 MILES ON PADS AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS, ONLY RESURFACE. INFINITI SHOULD BE UP FRONT WITH PROSPECTIVE BUYERS REGARDING THE LOW LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE BRAKES ON THE G35 SEDAN.

UPON TAKING MY 2003 G35 SEDAN TO INFINITI OF NASHVILLE TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED BASED ON A NATIONAL RECALL, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED CAUSING MY BRAKES TO BE LOCKED. ALMOST 99% OF THE TIME WHEN I ROLL MY G35 WITHIN 10 MPH I HEAR A CRACKLING OR GRINDING NOISE (LIKE FAN JUST STARTED) AND A "VIBRATION" WOULD TRANSFER FROM THE BRAKE TO MY FOOT.
