This vehicle and others of this same year struggle with intermittent stalling when slowing down or stopping at about 100,000 miles. When this happens, the power steering no longer works and the vehicle will not restart, until placed in neutral and restarted.
Vehicle periodically loses signal from right rear pressure monitor, displaying — in place of thenpressure reading. EVIC displays “Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System”, TPMS indicator light blinks. Took vehicle for service, they replaced the TPMS sensors. Issue reoccurred. Returned to servicing dealer, right rear TPMS sensor again. Issue reoccurred. Servicing dealer indicates that part number 5026189AH likely needs replacing but part shows out of stock. Contacted Jeep Customer Care and they confirmed part has been discontinued and no replacement part is available. TPMS system no longer works reliably.
I Have a similar if not the same complaint as the one on file here form Liverpool, Tx on 12/14/21 - I also have a 2007 Jeep Commander and am having issues with the ignition and contact to start the vehicle. The key at time gets stuck in the ignition, is difficult to turn the ignition and rarely turns on on first turn... It has a failure of contact... and usually requires various attempts to actually ignite and turn engine on. When researching on social media this is a large complaint from owner of vehicles of same make year and model Please advise
It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. AS IS WARRANTY.

I have a jeep commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn’t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won’t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is ONE of the recalls, my VIN number ISNT part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I’m still encountering the SAME issue as the recall. I’ve taken it to my mechanic he cannot seem to find the problem. I need help I just bought this car! It’s our family car so it’s not only affecting me it’s my entire family. My husband, my two year older and my elderly parents.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREMIER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT (13000 I-10 SERVICE RD, NEW ORLEANS, LA 70128) TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH COVER FAILED TO FIT THE IGNITION SWITCH. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE KEY NEEDED TO BE FORCED INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH TO START THE VEHICLE. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE NEWER IGNITION SWITCH THAT WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO REMOVE THE SWITCH COVER AND HOLD THE KEY UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.

INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I HAVE 2 KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND NEED TO GET TO IMPORTANT APPOINTMENTS. I START MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, I GET TO WHERE I AM GOING, WHEN I GO TO RESTART MY VEHICLE IT SOMETIMES DOESN'T WANT TO START. IT WILL CRANK OVER JUST REFUSES TO START. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE MECHANICS LOOK AT MY JEEP AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT REASONING TO THIS INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. I HAVE PUT SO MUCH MONEY AND WORK INTO MY JEEP FOR IT TO KEEP DOING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LAST MECHANIC I TOOK IT TOO SEEN CODE ERROR IN THE DISPLAY WINDOW ON DASH 'TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP' WHEN HE HAD TRIED TO START IT. IT DOES NOT DO THIS EVERY TIME THE WILL BE DAYS IT CONTINUOUSLY STARTS EVERY TIME THEN THERE ARE DAYS THAT IT'S INTERMITTENT, AND DAYS IT WILL NOT START AT ALL. THE MECHANIC STARTING LOOKIN ON JEEP FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE THERE ARE TONS OF REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO SOLUTION. MY MECHANIC SAID JEEP IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. HE SAID HE BELIEVES IT IS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE THE CAR THINKS THE TRANSMISSION IS OVER TEMP SO IT SENDS SIGNAL TO THE ENGINE THAT IT'S TOO HOT AND THE ENGINE SENDS SIGNAL TO THE FUEL PUMP THAT THERE IS A TEMPERATURE ISSUE DO NOT TURN ON. WHEN IT CRANKS OVER IT ACTS AS IF IT ISN'T GETTING ANY FUEL AT ALL. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND SOME OTHER PARTS THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING. I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN APRIL OF 2020 OFF OF ANOTHER OWNER, THE ISSUE DIDN'T START WITH ME UNTIL JANUARY OF 2021, THE PREVIOUS OWNER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THEM WHEN I ASKED THEM. My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,725.
MID WINTER OF 2018 I DROVE MY JEEP HOME AND PARKED IT ON A FLAT LANDING AND WHEN I WENT OUT TO START IT 2 DAYS AFTER PARKING IT NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS WITH MY STARTER. NOW IT IS OCTOBER 2019 AND I WAS WAITING AT A RED LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY CITY INTERSECTION AND THE JEEP JUST SHUTS OFF. AFTER I COULDN'T GET IT STARTED UP AGAIN WE FOUND THAT IT WAS ONCE AGAIN THE STARTER. THIS HAPPENED 2 WEEKS AGO AND SINCE THEN I HAD THE STARTER REBUILT AND PUT BACK IN. THIS MORNING IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING AT THE EXACT SAME RED LIGHT. ON TOP OF THIS IT HAS BEEN OVERHEATING AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING, IT DOES LEAK ANTIFREEZE BUT IT HAS OVERHEATED EVEN WHEN THE ANTIFREEZE WAS FULL. ALSO, OVER THE SUMMER I PARKED AT S PIZZA SHOP IN MY HOMETOWN AND LEFT IT RUNNING WHILE I PICKED UP MY ORDER. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE JEEP IT WAS STUCK IN PARK AND NEEDED THE SHIFTER REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AND I NOTICED THAT ALL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A FAST-LANE SHOULDER THAT I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT ON, OR I MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START SO I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RE-CONNECTED IT AND THEN THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED BUT RAN VERY ROUGH. I PROCEEDED ALONG THE SHOULDER TO TRY AND GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS AND IT AGAIN RE-STARTED AND I MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME ON BACK ROADS AT 40 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST THREE OTHER OCCASIONS, BUT THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED MANY MONTHS APART, WHICH MADE ME THINK IT WAS A ONE-OFF SITUATION. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM. I THINK THIS IS A TRAGEDY IN THE MAKING IF CHRYSLER DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS DEFICIENCY BY ISSUING AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. I ALSO REQUEST THAT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP INSPECT MY VEHICLE AT NO COST TO ME. YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE TO THIS URGENT MATTER WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON . IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM PRIOR RELATES POWER MECHANICAL DEVICES, WINDOWS, SUNROOF, SEATS WHICH PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD.. LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY OF THESE SYSTEMS INCREASES SAFETY AND INJURY RISK. CHRYSLER WORKED ON THE IGNITION SWITCH AND AFTER HAD ISSUES WITH WINDOWS AND AIRBAG.

WHEN TRYING TO CRANK THE CAR THE IGNITION IS VERY SLOW AND THE LIGHTS DIM. IT IS TRYING TO TURNOVER BUT CANNOT. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT STARTS SMELLING LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL IS GOING ON. WE ATTEMPTED TO JUMP IT OFF BUT IT PERFORMS THE SAME EVEN WHEN ATTACHED TO JUMPER CABLES. SO IT IS NOT THE BATTERY WHICH WAS CHANGED 2 YEARS AGO AND THE STARTER WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WHILE PERIODICALLY BUT IT ALWAYS EVENTUALLY STARTED AND NEVER SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL WAS BURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING SPOT IN LEXINGTON FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES TO RUN INTO THE RETRIEVE SOME DOCUMENTS AND WHEN RETURNING IT JUST WOULD NOT START. ONCE I GOT HOME I STARTED LOOKING UP COMMON ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL AND NOTICED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS THAT MIGHT APPLY TO MY ISSUE. I PLAN TO CALL OUR LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AS SOON AS THEY OPEN AND SEE IF THEY CAN CONFIRM AND PICK IT UP FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY.

WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED(S) 35-50MPH ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON IN SEQUENCE AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLED. LUCKILY THIS WAS AT 230 AM AND NEAR A CLOSED BUSINESS PARKING LOT AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROAD WAY. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF THE VEHICLE MOTION STOPPING THE LIGHTS, RADIO AND ALL ELECTRIC DIED AND WOULD NOT START. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I GUESS JEEP IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE AND HAVE THEIR FAMILY SUE THEM. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON 2006 COMMANDERS DOING THE SAME THING. I BOUGHT MINE 12/24/2018 AND I AM THE THIRD OWNER. FIRST OWNER WAS A LEASEE AND PUT 22K MILES ON IT. SECOND OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE FROM 2010 TO 12/15/2018 AND IT HAD 80,500 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE ONLY PUT LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT AND I AM HAVING SERIOUS CONCERNS ON KEEPING IT. 3.7V6/AUTO 4X4 SPORT
