WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. JEEP DEALER SAID NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, I HAVE BEEN ALMOST INVOLVED IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE COMPUTER WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.
TTHE 4.7 ENGINE SUDDENLY QUITS WHILE DRIVING, BOTH AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS.. I HAVE HAD TO PULL INTO BREAKDOWN LANES IF ANY, WITH NO POWERS STEERING, AND AT GREAT RISK COASTING ACROSS LANES TO SAFETY. THE JEEP DEALER IN MY AREA SAID THERENARE NO RECALLS, ALTHOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH THE ENGINE QUITTING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU CANT GET OVER TO A SAFE SPOT.
Original owner of this vehicle. Has 73,000 on 5.7 hemi engine. Engine blew up on 12/25/2022. Only warning was the gauge went to overheat high red. Stopped vehicle, at fuel station and added more anti freeze. Gauge dropped to while normal range. Got back on highway drove 7 miles and enginle like came on and heat gauge went to high red then dropped to nothing. Got vehilcle off the road and it immediately shut down. Engine blew up. Had vehilcle towed to Jeep Dealership 12/26/2022. Need engine replaced at only 73, 000 miles. Chrysler no longer makes this engine and a rebuilt will have to go into this vehicle. No offer or explanation of why this engine blew up with such low mileage. I was left stranded in 5 degree weather for about 45 minutes along interstate trying to get my roadside assistance to help. They couldn't speak understandable english. After 40 minutes of this call I ended up calling State Police for help. I knew I was starting to go into hypothermia. State Police arrived in minutes and put me in their car to warm me up and they called tow co. That co. showed up in 15 minutes. I called Chrysler myself to try to find a new engine but they discontinued this engine in July 2022, early cut off for an engine. No new engines in inventory. No offer of any kind to assist or ask questions about possible injury/causes/or where the vehicle was. No engine should blow with this low mileage. Why did they cut off mfg of this engine so early? No answers. Vehicle is at Hillview Motors, Greensburg, PA 15601(Jeep Dealership) for repair. Jeep Dealership inspected engine and determined it was blown. Only warning was guage went hot then engine blew. Nothing in the past on this vehicle.
WHILE AT STOP LIGHT OR IN TRAFFIC VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF, DASHBOARD WILL LIGHT UP AFTER AND VEHICLE WILL CHIME. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, THIS MORNING IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITHIN 15 MINUTES.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO BUTLER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER, 188 ROBERT SMALLS PKWY, BEAUFORT, SC 29906, DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE KEY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR JEEP JUST SUDDENLY TURNING OFF. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE OUR KIDS IN THE JEEP WITH US WHEN IT HAPPENS. WE COULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE JEEP WILL JUST SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT SHOW NO PROBLEM CODES. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED AND NO SPEED. WE TURN THE JEEP ON A LET IT WARM UP. ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER IT SHUTS OFF. WE HAVE TO TURN IT BACK ON. THEN WE WOULD BE DRIVING AT SPEED BELOW 30 MPH AND TURNS OFF. AND MOST DANGEROUSLY ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT JUST TURNS OFF AND WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND THIS IS HARD SPECIALLY BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL IS SO STIFF. HOPEFULLY JEEP/CHRYSLER CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 10-4-19. SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIME WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN WAS WITH MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I FIRST THOUGHT SHE JUST DID SOMETHING WRONG AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF THE ISSUE. UNTIL I WAS TAKING MY SON TO A BASEBALL CAMP IN UT KNOXVILLE. IT DIED ON US TWICE WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK US ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AND IT FINALLY WOULD START BACK UP AND RUN NORMAL. ON THE TRIP HOME IT RAN FINE UNTIL WE CROSSED OVER THE GEORGIA STATE LINE AND IT DIED ONE MORE TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY. I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT WAS A GROUNDING ISSUE SO I PULLED THE GROUND WIRES OFF TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE TOUCHING METAL. THIS HASN'T HELPED AND THE VEHICLE WILL STILL STALL WHILE DRIVING OR AT STOP LIGHTS. I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY KIDS TO DRIVE BUT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE I'VE READ ABOUT. I'M AFRAID TO LET MY KIDS OR WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED CONSIDERING THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE. I'VE STARTED DOCUMENTING THE TIMES IT STALLS TO SEE IF THERE IS A PATTERN. 11/7/19 8 PM IN TRAFFIC, 11/12/19 8 AM IN TRAFFIC, 11/20/19 LOWS PARKING LOT, 12/2/19 10:17 PM AT RED LIGHT - THEN AGAIN 10:29 AT ANOTHER RED LIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO THE SPEEDS WERE FROM 35 MPH TO 75 MPH DOESN'T MATTER.

PERFORMANCE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM GEORGESVILLE (1130 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, (614) 272-0000) TESTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE AN EXACT DIAGNOSIS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE BY TAPING UP THE FUEL LINE. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
ENGINE DOES NOT START SOMETIMES, HAVE HAD RECALLED IGNITION PUT IN ALREADY. THEN IT STALLED ON HIGHWAY, HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, COULDN'T GET IT JUMPED. HE TOOK OFF SERPENTINE BELT AND SHOWED US ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. IT HAS A 5.7 HEMI IN IT. I GET ALL FLUIDS CHANGED WHEN I'M SUPPOSED TO. CHANGE OIL AND FILTER RELIGIOUSLY WITH BEST OIL AND FILTER AVAILABLE . MECHANIC EVEN SAID ALL FLUIDS LOOKED GREAT. HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, FROM LEAKING WEEPHOLES IN SON ROOF TO DRIVETRAIN, NOT WANTING TO START AND STALLING WHEN EVER TO NOW A SEIZED ENGINE!
TAKATA RECALL ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN EXITING THE INTERSTATE MY CAR JUST SHUT IT'S SELF OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS, SOUNDS, ETC. WE TRIED FOR ABOUT 20 MINS TO GET IT TO START BACK AND STAY RUNNING ONCE RUNNING WE TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO A MECHANIC WHO PUT IT ON A MACHINE. NO PROBLEMS SHOWED UP ON THE MACHINE AT ALL AND IT'S BEEN FINE EVER SINCE UNTIL TODAY. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.

WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT. MY JEEP JUST DIED OUT ON ME. NO REASON NOTHING ACTING OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL. TRIED TO RESTART AND AFTER A FEW TRIES WAS ABLE TO RESTART.
JEEP SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVE DOWN ROAD, JEEP RESTARTS WITHOUT ISSUE, AND WILL RUN WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN THE 11TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENS, THIS TIME I WAS ALSO REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK. I HAVE HAD THIS LOOKED AT FROM DODGE MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS, BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE,OR DON'T CARE TOO. BUT TO THERE DEF FENCE IT ONLY HAPPENS EVER SO OFTEN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR THE PAST FOUR MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
I DROVE TO A GAS STATION ABOUT 5 MILES FROM MY HOME TO FUEL UP. AFTER FUELING UP, I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE AND IT RAN ROUGH FOR LESS THAN A SECOND AND THEN SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND IT RAN BUT HAD A LOUD KNOCK SO I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I TOWED IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO SAID I HAD A DROPPED VALVE SEAT AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE ODOMETER WAS AT 106,000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

THERE WAS A VALVE SEAT THAT FELL OUT OF THE HEAD WHICH CAUSED MAJOR INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR. THIS MOTOR ONLY HAD 120K MILES ON IT AND DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER ISSUES. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, SHUT OFF AND THEN WHEN IT WAS STARTED AGAIN IT HAD THE ISSUE.
MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS BROKEN AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT BROKE. IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE AS SIMPLE AS WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, AS IT IS 10 YEARS OLD. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR A CRASH.
