There was a recall on my car for the brake booster water shield, water could get into the brake booster and cause corrosion and can cause the brakes to stop working. The recall was "fixed" about a month ago, but the brake booster still failed - my best guess is because water already got inside of the booster and already caused corrosion. My brakes began to fail while driving on the highway. When the brake booster blew out it also caused so much pressure that it blew out the master cylinder. The master cylinder is not part of the recall - according to JEEP No damage caused by the recall of the brake booster is under the recall and warranty EXCEPT the brake booster. The supposed fix itself here is faulty. This could have had a way worse outcome if I could not get my car to a stop. The other part of this is that the piece to fix this is on national back order with no estimated ship date.

The contact's husband replaced the alternator; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contacted stated that the check engine warning light and the brake warning light were illuminated. The contact later became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 15V879000 (Electrical System, Interior Lighting), 19V813000 (Electrical System) and 17V572000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer and two other dealers were contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. I RECEIVED A LETTER JAN/2018 FOR A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE REPAIR DONE FEB/2018. JUNE 5TH, 2018 I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP, WHEN I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION I TAPPED THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. THE BREAKS WENT COMPLETELY OUT, I WAS FORCING MY WHOLE BODY WEIGHT ON THE BREAKS TO GET THE JEEP TO STOP!! THERE WAS A TRUCK COMING AND ALL I COULD THINK OF IS MY SMALL CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE VERY QUICK RESPONSES, BUT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN AT ALL OR EVEN AFTER A RECALL FIX???? I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TERRIFIED IN MY WHOLE LIFE AND BEING SO HELPLESS IN THIS SITUATION! I AM REALLY SHAKEN UP AND GLAD NO ONE GOT HURT. IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO BE A CLOSE CALL. CHRYSLER YOU NEED TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR GET ALL OF THESE MODELS OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE KILLED. NOW I HAVE TO TRADE THIS JEEP IN BECAUSE IT IS A DEATH TRAP AND I WILL ALWAYS BE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY TOTING MY KIDS AROUND. BREAKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND THIS IS A SERIOUS RECALL ISSUE!!!!
PART SUPPOSEDLY REPLACE WEEKS AGO AT FAMILY CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP (I AM STILL WAITING ON VISORS TO BE REPLACED), BUT DURING THE NOR'EASTER, BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE. MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO SETUP APPOINTMENTS WITH NO SUCCESS.
THE VEHICLES STOPPING POWER IS REDUCED AT TIMES. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WORK FINE, BUT SOMETIMES I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IT WILL NOT STOP ALL THE WAY. THE STOPPING POWER IS GREATLY REDUCED AT TIMES AND I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING CAUSING THE PROBLEM WITH BRAKING BY WHAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS DONE AS MY BRAKE PADS ARE FINE AND HAVE PLENTY OF LIFE.
ON SEPTEMBER 7TH 2017 WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM JFK AIRPORT MY CAR LOST BRAKING POWER, WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES THE BRAKES TOUCHED THE FLOOR BUT THE CAR WOULD STILL KEEP MOVING. IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT MULTIPLE CARS THANKS TO GOD I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND WENT OVER A CURB AND GRASS AND INTO A SERVICE PLAZA ON BELT PARKWAY. THIS WAS VERY FRIGHTENING, WE COULD HAVE REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF US GOING 55-60 MPH. WE GOT SO SACRED WE WERE ALL SHAKING, WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUES. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES NOW THE CAR SLOWS DOWN BUT DOES NOT COME TO A STOP IF YOU ARE MOVING FAST. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH CAUSED SIMILAR ISSUE BUT ACCORDING TO THEM MY CARS VIN NUMBER IS NOT UNDER THIS RECALL. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 63000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP SOMEONE FROM GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
