THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
JEEP GC2011 STALLS WHILING DRIVING. ONGOING SINCE 2012; MECHANICS HAVE DONE A LOT OF SERVICE AND REPAIR VERY COSTLY OUT OF MY POCKET EXPENCES BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE STALLING. SAYS IT MAYBE THE ALTERNATOR, THROTTLE OR IGNITION PROBLEM. THE 2011 MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE CHRYSLER RECALL #T36 (NHTSA #17V435).
SUNROOF ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED EDITION EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. NOTHING HIT THE VEHICLE OR SUNROOF. THE SUNROOF EXPLODED ON JULY 16, 2014 AND THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER UNTIL AUG 22, 2014. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT CHRYSLER WON'T COVER REPLACED SUNROOF GLASS SINCE IT'S NOT A MECHANICAL ISSUE. ALSO, SINCE THE GLASS ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CHRYSLER WON'T PAY FOR A RENTAL WHILE MY VEHICLE SITS IN A BODY SHOP WAITING FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT SINCE THE GLASS EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS GLASS FOR A SUNROOF WOULD BE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER UNLESS THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE AFFECTING A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF VEHICLES AFFECTED. I WILL BE WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE AND REQUESTED A RENTAL VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH CHRYSLER, BUT TO NO AVAIL. CHRYSLER HAS SET THE BAR FOR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED WHEN THE GLASS FROM THE SUNROOF EXPLODED AS MOST OF THE GLASS FELL PRIMARILY INTO FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHERE NO ONE WAS SEATED AT THAT TIME. *TR

THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. CHRYSLER IS STILL NOT MAKING THIS PART AVAILABLE TO DEALERS SO THAT IT CAN BE INSTALLED. THIS PART CAN FAIL WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE IN MOTION. MY DEALER IS READY AND WILLING TO REPLACE THIS RELAY, BUT IT IS NOT YET IN PRODUCTION. *TR

PROBLEM STARTED A FEW MONTHS AGO WITH MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START WITH THE PUSH BUTTON NOR THE KEY. THE PROBLEM PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE TO THE POINT OF TAKING UP TO TEN MINUTES TO CRANK THE JEEP. WOULD TURN THE IGNITION TO "RUN" FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START. ONCE THE REPAIR SHOP LOCATED THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM, THE JEEP WOULDN'T CRANK AT ALL. HAD TO REPLACE THE TIPM TO THE TUNE OF $1200.00 AND TWO WEEKS IN THE REPAIR SHOP. *TR
APPLIED BRAKES.... ALMOST NO BRAKING AT ALL. CAME TO A STOP BEYOND THE STOP SIGN, PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. CALLED DEALER... NO PARTS AVAILABLE ...WILL INSTALL NEW UNIT AND WAIT FOR RECALL FIX KIT. *TR

GOOD EVENING. I HAD PURCHASED A 2011 CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE ON 7/4/2014. I HAD START TO EXPERIENCE CLUNKING SOUND AND CLICKING AS I WOULD TURN THE STEERING WHEEL A FEW DAYS AFTER MY PURCHASE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THAT SCHEDULED ME AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE A BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL ON 7/18/2014 AND WOULD ADDRESS OTHER ISSUES THAT I MAY HAVE. DURING MY APPOINTMENT IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS MENTIONED TO ME THAT THE REASON FOR THE ISSUES IN MY STEERING WHEEL WAS THERE RESULT OF MY FRONT STRUTS BEING WORN DOWN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE STRUTS WHERE ON BACK ORDER AND I WOULD BE NOTIFIED ONCE THEY COME IN. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THEIR REPLACEMENT ON 8/1/2014 AT 9:45AM. AFTER 7/18/2014 MADE ME QUESTION IF MY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED JEEP HAD UNDERWENT THE 125-POINT INSPECTION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED TO MAKE IT A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. I HAD THEN WENT ON THE JEEP WEBSITE TO FIND OUT WANT THE 125-POINT INSPECTION ENTAILED. UNDER #90 OF THE 125-POINT INSPECTION, SPEAKS OF SHOCKS AND STRUTS. MY QUESTION NOW WAS IF MY CERTIFIED JEEP UNDER WENT THE 125-POINT INSPECTION, THEN THE STRUTS SHOULD HAD BEEN ADDRESSED PRIOR TO SALE. I AM NOW BEGINNING TO EXPERIENCE ADDITIONAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO NOTIFY THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT IF THE 125-POINT INSPECTION HAD BEEN COMPLETED. I WOULD NOT GET ANY COOPERATION, JUST PASSIVENESS. I HAD THAN CALLED THE JEEP CHRYSLER INFORMATION CENTER FOR SOME TYPE OF RESOLVE IN FINDING OUT IF THE 125-POINT INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED, TO NO SUCCESS. I AM VERY MUCH CONCERN OF MY SAFETY,AND I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED PRIOR TO IT BEING SOLD TO ME. CAR WAS SHUT OFF, LOCKED AND PARKED IN MOTEL PARKING LOT. 45 MINUTES LATER, CALL WAS MADE TO ROOM THAT IT HAD ROLLED ACROSS LOT, DOWN A HILL AND CRASHED INTO A TANKER TRUCK WHICH WAS REFUELING @ A GAS STATION. CAR WAS RUNNING AND IN DRIVE. I AM DOUBLY SURE CAR HAD BEEN SHUT OFF, PLACED IN PARK, AND LOCKED SECURELY. WEATHER HAD BEEN EXTREMELY HOT THAT DAY (+100 DEGREES). *TR

VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING SPORADIC AND INTERMITTENT HARD CRANK STARTS AS WELL AS PARTIAL STALLING WHILE TRAVELING. WHEN PLACING THE KEY/PUSH BUTTON TO THE "ON" POSITION, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD ENGAGE, BUT WAS QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY A "CLICK" NOISE, WHICH SHUTOFF THE FUEL PUMP. EVENTUALLY, AFTER 6-12 ATTEMPTS, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD ENGAGE LONG ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO START. WHILE TRAVELING, RPMS WOULD SUDDENLY DROP, TYPICALLY WHILE BRAKING/SLOWING FROM TRAVELING. AFTER PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AND MORE CONSISTENT, VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. INITIAL DIAGNOSIS WAS A FAILING FUEL PUMP. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL RELAY TO THE FUEL PUMP, A PART OF THE TIPM, WAS SHORTING AND PREMATURELY FAILING. A BYPASS RELAY WAS RE-WIRED AND SEEMS TO HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *TR

FIRST CALLED DEALER IN LATE MAY AND AGAIN JULY 7 AND THEY STILL SAID THEY ARE WAITING FOR PARTS FROM CHRYSLER. RECALL NOTICE RELEASES SHOULD HAVE ALL PARTS AVAILABLE TO PERFORM RECALLS ESPECIALLY IN CASE OF POTENTIAL BRAKE FAILURES DUE TO MALFUNCTIONS YET I CAN'T GET THE ISSUE CORRECTED DUE TO NO PARTS AVAILABLE. *JS

WE RECEIVED BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL NOTICE (P14/NHTSA 14V-154) BACK IN JULY 2014. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALER. THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART. NOW 6 MONTHS HAVE PASSED. DEALER REPORTS THAT "THEY ARE WORKING ON CUSTOMERS WHO RESPONDED IN JUNE, 2014 AND WILL GET TO US AS CHRYSLER RELEASES MORE PARTS." SIX MONTHS SEEMS LIKE AN UNREASONABLY LONG TIME TO WAIT FOR RECALL PARTS. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
A CHRYSLER JEEP AND DODGE DEALERSHIP IN ORLANDO REPLACED THE FACTORY INSTALLED TIPM IN MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND WITH 58,000 MILES TODAY AT A COST TO ME OF $1230. THE TIPM CONTROLS AND DISTRIBUTES POWER TO ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE. THEY HAD ONE IN STOCK, AND AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE I DISCOVERED A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER 2011 GRAND CHEROKEES. MANY OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS CITE FAULTY TIPM DEVICES FAILING WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH CAUSING THE CAR TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. OTHERS MENTION LIGHTS FAILING AND OTHER ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE EASILY FOUND ONLINE. I'M WRITING TO ASK YOU TO PLEASE INITIATE A RECALL OR SOME INITIATIVE THAT WILL REIMBURSE CONSUMERS THAT UNKNOWINGLY PURCHASED VEHICLES WITH A FAULTY TIPM. I RECEIVED THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL NOTICE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MENTIONED THE RECALL SO IT COULD BE INSPECTED. UPON LEAVING I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO ORDER PARTS WHICH WERE ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD BE A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT MY VEHICLE WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT WEDNESDAY JULY 2ND THE BOOSTER FAILED DURING RUSH HOUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I WAS VERY LUCKY NOT TO HIT/INJURE/KILL ANYONE AS TRAFFIC SLOWED AND I COULDN'T. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND COAST TO A STOP, BUT WHAT IF I COULDN'T? OF ALL THINGS TO FAIL ON A VEHICLE THE BRAKES SHOULDN'T BE ONE. IF MY VEHICLE WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE THEN I NEVER SHOULD OF BEEN SENT OUT OF THE DEALER WITH IT. THIS PAST JULY, ON AN EXTREMELY HOT AFTERNOON, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THAT THE LEATHER COVERING ON THE DASHBOARD FROM WINDOW TO GLOVE BOX WAS LIFTING AND WRINKLING BEFORE MY EYES. UNDER THIS AREA OF THE DASH ARE AIRBAGS. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND RELAYED THIS INFORMATION TO A MECHANIC FRIEND, HE FELT THAT I'D BE ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING SAFELY UNTIL I REACHED MY DESTINATION, BUT SHOULD IMMEDIATELY CALL MY JEEP DEALERSHIP ONCE I ARRIVED. I HAVE SINCE SPOKEN WITH MY DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S A COSMETIC DEFECT AND THE DASH JUST WASN'T GLUED PROPERLY WHEN MANUFACTURED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY WILL REPAIR IT AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $500 BECAUSE MY CAR IS OVER THE WARRANTY. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT MY IN-DASH AIRBAGS MAY DEPLOY AT ANYTIME AND DON'T FEEL THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE AT MY EXPENSE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE MOST RECENT RECALLS BUT CAN'T GET ANYONE AT CHRYSLER TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WE RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER. SO WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT IN JULY AND TOOK IT IN TO FERRARIO CAR SALES IN WYSOX PA. THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD CALL US IN A MONTH OR TWO TO GET IT FIXED. IN EARLY OCTOBER, I PERSONALLY WENT TO FERRARIO AND ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE STILL WAITING ON PARTS,INDEFINITELY. I ALSO ASKED THEM ABOUT THE SUN VISOR RECALL AND WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED TO SEE IT BUT IT WOULD BE THE SAME RESULT. NOW WE HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. BUT WHY HAVE THESE RECALLS IF THE DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT FIX YOUR VEHICLES. I HAVE RECEIVED THREE DIFFERENT RECALL NOTICES AND TWO ABOUT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE THE RECALLED PARTS FIXED ON MY VEHICLE AND HAVE YET TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR A SINGLE RECALLED ITEM. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START; REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO START VEHICLE (5 TIMES) AND NO SUCCESS - VEHICLE STARTED ON THE 6TH ATTEMPT. THIS PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 07/07/2014. *JS
TRAVELING AT ABOUT 68 MPH WITH SPEED CONTROL ENGAGED, AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES I NOTICED A DECLINING VEHICLE SPEED & STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER UNSUCCESSFULLY TRYING TO RE ENGAGE SPEED CONTROL, I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. I DEPRESSED THE DASH BOARD STABILITY CONTROL BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES AND THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED & THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WAS OFF. WE RESUMED OUR TRIP USING SPEED CONTROL WITH FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE, BUT ONLY WITH SPEED CONTROL ENGAGED. ON A RECENT TRIP AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES @ 65 - 70 MPH WITH SPEED CONTROL ENGAGED THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES AND SAME CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN. I THEN CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AT THE SAME SPEED WITHOUT SPEED CONTROL AND FURTHER INCIDENT. SINCE THEN A TECHNICIAN HAS ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITHOUT RESULTS. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WILL BE UNABLE TO RESOLVE UNTIL A FULL FAILURE OF THE ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND WHEN IT DOES START IT WILL NOT STAY ON LONGER THEN 10 SECONDS. STALLED OUT ON HIGHWAY AND WAS LEFT STRANDED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING DAY. *TR
THE CAR WILL STALL/WON'T TURNOVER WHEN YOU GO TO START IT. *TR
THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THE TIPM ALSO. THERE IS NO CHARGING LIGHT IN THE DASH SO IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW THERE WERE A PROBLEM SINCE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THE ENGINE STALL. AFTER THAT, THERE WERE NO LIGHT, NO POWER BRAKE AND THE CAR WON'T START ANYMORE. EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR ( WHICH IS COST 1000 EACH.) THE ALTERNATOR DO NOT CHARGE BECAUSE THE TIPM FAILED TOO. OVERALL, IT COST 2200$ TO REPAIR AND I LOST MY CAR FOR 4 WEEKS ! *TR
I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND HAVE NO MEMORY OF CRASH JEEP WAS TOTALED I NEVER SAW IT AGAIN TOOK 4 MONTHS TO RECOVER.
I WAS INFORMED OF RECALL FROM THE LOCAL CHICAGO NEWS. CALLED DEALERSHIP FEW WEEKS LATER, BECAUSE I HAD NOT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE VIA MAIL YET. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN NOTICE ABOUT IT EITHER. WEEK LATER RECEIVED THE NOTICE IN THE MAIL. WEEK LATER WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE WORK DONE AND WAS INFORMED THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS, AND WOULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS UNTIL AUGUST OF 2014. I WENT HOME AND CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE THE PARTS IN TWO WEEKS. NOW THREE WEEKS LATER I JUST CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AND AGAIN WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS UNTIL AUGUST AGAIN. I CALLED CHRYSLER AGAIN AND THEY ONLY SAID THAT MY CASE HAS BEEN ESCALATED AND THAT I WOULD BE INFORMED/CALLED BY DEALER AND/OR CHRYSLER WHEN THE DEALER CAN DO THE WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
VEHICLE BEGAN PRESENTING WITH GRINDING NOISE UPON START UP (SIMILAR NOISE TO TURNING THE KEY IN OLDER VEHICLE ONCE ENGINE WAS RUNNING). BROUGHT TO DEALER'S ATTENTION AT TIME OF SERVICE - DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE GRINDING NOISE. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, VEHICLE BEGAN TAKING MORE THAN 1 ATTEMPT TO TURN ENGINE OVER (SOMETIMES UP TO 4-5 ATTEMPTS), INCLUDING PROLONGED ENGAGEMENT OF STARTER MOTOR. IF MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, NOTICED RICH FUEL SMELL. MENTIONED TO DEALER AT TIME OF NEXT SCHEDULED SERVICE - DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE STARTING PROBLEMS OVER THE COURSE OF 2 DAYS IN THEIR CARE. DEALER SAID TO WAIT FOR MORE FREQUENT OCCURRENCES TO BEGIN THEN THEY WOULD CHECK AGAIN. STARTING ISSUES WERE INTERMITTENT AND CONTINUED TO OCCUR UNTIL LAST WEEK, WHERE AFTER "HARD START," VEHICLE ENGINE STALLED WHILE IN REVERSE PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPOT (<5 MPH); HOWEVER, POWER TO LIGHTS AND RADIO REMAINED ON; STEERING LOCKED UP, AND HAD TO PUSH VEHICLE TO SAFE SPOT. TOOK 2 STARTS TO GET ENGINE RUNNING AGAIN. NEXT DAY, AFTER 4 FAILED STARTING ATTEMPTS (5TH SUCCESSFUL), HAD BATTERY TESTED AND REPLACED DAY AFTER THINKING IT COULD BE PART OF PROBLEM (STARTER AND ALTERNATOR TESTED FINE). THE DAY AFTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT, VEHICLE PRODUCED WHAT SOUNDED LIKE ABNORMAL START, THEN ENGINE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION UNDER 5 MILES PER HOUR. BASED ON EVIDENCE AND PRIOR REPORTS, FAULTY TIPM IS SUSPECT. WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT BOTH STALLS OCCURRED UNDER 5 MPH; IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HOPING THE NHTSA WILL FORCE CHRYSLER'S HAND INTO OPENING FORMAL INVESTIGATION INTO FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN VEHICLES. *TR
RECEIVED RECALL FOR BRAKE BOOSTER. DEALER CLAIMS THEY ARE ONLY RECEIVING ONE REPLACEMENT PART EVERY TWO WEEKS AND I'M NUMBER 42 ON THE LIST. AT THIS RATE MY RECALL WILL NOT BE RESOLVED FOR ANOTHER 84 WEEKS. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN 5 WEEKS SINCE THE PART WAS ORDERED. *TR
