THE LUG NUTS ON THE VEHICLE WERE SWOLLEN AND APPARENTLY IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP I HAD TO PAY MONEY OUT MY OWN POCKET TO BUY NEW LUG NUTS TO ROTATE MY TIRES WHICH COST OVER $200 AND WHEN I CONTACTED JEEP VIA EMAIL THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND REACH BACK TO ME IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW AND HAVENT HEARD FROM THEM I CONTACTED THEM 3 MORE TIMES AND NO RESPONSE. NOW I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY BLUETOOTH BEING CONNECTED TO MY PHONE IT KEEPS KICKING MY PHONE OUT I DID A RESET AND HASN'T WORKED AND JEEP DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME ITS $135 TO FIX WHICH I REFUSE IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND THE RADIOS THAT SHOULD BE ON RECALL AS WELL. I HAVE TO RE-PAIR MY PHONE EVERYTIME I GET BACK INTO MY CAR. THE BLUETOOTH HASN'T BEEN WORKING SINCE MAY 2019 AND MY LUG NUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED LAST YEAR AUGUST 2018. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2015 AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD 5 YEAR WARRANTY COME TO FIND OUT I HAD ONE YEAR REMAINING BECAUSE IT STARTED IN 2011 WHEN THE CAR WAS MADE. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS MORE AND MORE WITH THESE DEALERSHIPS NOT KNOWING A THING ! THEY JUST TELL ME THEY DONT KNO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS OR THAT THAT I COMPLAIN ABOUT. RIDICULOUS
CONTINUING MY LAST COMPLAINT - I GO TO JEEP TO FIX MY BLUETOOTH THEY TELL ME ITS $135 (WHICH WAS NEVER MENTIONED ON THE PHONE TO ME AS I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.) I TOLD THEM I DONT HAVE THAT RIGHT NOW. THEY INSISTED I HAD TO GET MY CAR FIXED FOR THE SUN VISOR RECALL WHICH I HAVEN'T DONE SO THEY TELL ME IT'LL TAKE 2.5 HOURS . I SHOULD LEAVE AND COME BACK SO THEY MAKE ME GET A RIDE WITH A RANDOM DRIVER WHO WORKS FOR THEM TO TAKE ME SOMEWHERE AND COME BACK WHEN FINISHED JUST FOR THEM TO REACH BACK OUT TO ME WITHIN 20 MINUTES AND TELL ME THEY HAD NO PARTS THEY HAD TO ORDER IT. WHICH PISSED ME OFF BECAUSE THAT WASTED MY TIME MONEY AND ENERGY WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE CHECKED TO SEE IF THE PART WAS THERE BEFORE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. NOW WHO KNOWS WHEN I'LL HAVE THE TIME TO GET THIS RECALL DONE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN SINCE 2015 WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND THEY ONLY MENTIONED ONE RECALL TO ME SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR WHICH HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BREAKS. JEEP DEALERSHIPS NEED TO LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE BETTER WITH BETTER SERVICE GOING BACK TO MY LUG NUTS THEY SAID THEY HAD NO CLUE WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!
I HAVE HAD THIS JEEP IN SHOP TO FIND OUT THAT THE TIPM IS NO GOOD THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK THE HEATER TURNS ON AND OFF WHENEVER IT WANTS AND NOT SURE WHAT ELSE IS ACTING UP BUT THIS IS ALL WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND TRIED TO GET HELP AS THIS IS A 1500 DOLLAR FIX AND HAVE READ THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR THIS YEAR AGAINST THEM FOR THIS IN CALIFORNIA AND THAT THOSE INVOLVED WERE GIVEN SOME TYPE OF SUPPLEMENTAL HELP TOWARD THEIR REPAIR BILL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FAILED DUE TO A FAULTY ALTERNATOR. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,977.
MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A DEFECT ON CYLINDER# 2 APPARENTLY THERE WAS NO RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFECT. MY LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER IN DRIVE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, STILL DOES, AND NOW THE ENGINE IS STARTING TO RUN ROUGH, AFTER MORE AND MORE RESEARCH COME TO FIND OUT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE JEEPS NEVER A RECALL BUT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS PUT OUT BY CHRYSLER 10 YRS OR 150,000 MILES. JUST FOUND THIS OUT A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, I HAVE 152,000, SO THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT CYLINDER 2 WAS AN ISSUE IN 2017 I HAVE DOCUMENTATION WHERE MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WHEN IT HAD 95,000 MILES AT THE TIME IT WAS WASN'T A DEALERSHIP SO THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT. ITS GOING TO COST ME AROUND $4,000-$6,000 TO GET IT FIXED, NOT SURE WHY IT HAS TO BE DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTATION , I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN HIDING THIS FROM CONSUMERS TO SAVE MONEY AND LET THE CONSUMER TAKE THE FALL FOR A DEFECT THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF. WHY CANT THIS BE RECALLED? REGARDLESS OF MILES, VERY DISGRUNTLED WITH CHRYSLER FOR PUTTING OUT PRODUCTS THAT HAVE ISSUES, I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO EVERY RECALL IT HAS HAD AND ITS BEEN ABOUT 5 OF THEM. I LOVE THE JEEP BUT THE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL OF JEEP HAS MANY ISSUES WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE RECALLED?
MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON SO I PULLED OVER AT AN ADVANCED AUTO AND HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED. THIS WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. THEY TESTED MY BATTERY AND SAID THE BATTERY THAT I HAD JUST REPLACE 3 MONTHS EARLIER HAD A BAD CELL. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I HAD IT REPLACED AND THEN TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE TO TEST THE ALTERNATOR. AT THAT POINT MY ALTERNATOR STARTED SMOKING AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTED. THEY SAID MY ALTERNATOR WASNT CHARGING ENOUGH AND IT NEEDED REPLACED. AT THIS POINT I HAD TO DISCONNECT MY BATTERY TO STOP THE ALTERNATOR FROM SMOKING. WHEN I DID THIS, MY BATTERY FELT UNUSUALLY HOT. GOT IT TESTED AND IT BLEW MY BATTERY. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR AND THEN THE STARTER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL. I REPLACED THE STARTER AND THERE WAS NO CHANGE. THE STARTER WAS NOT GETTING ANY POWER. AS IM READING THROUGH THE COMPLAINTS SECTION THE ONLY TWO THINGS IT COULD BE IT SEEMS IS THE TIPM OR THE PCM. THIS SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. MAYBE COULD BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON JEEP AS IT SHOULD STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED, WITH SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS TEMPORARILY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO VEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND CONTACTED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TOWED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AND WAS TAKEN TO (SPITZER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF HOMESTEAD 30101 S DIXIE HWY, HOMESTEAD, FL 33032 (786) 650-3104) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000.
I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THAT THIS 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (3.6 PENTASTAR ENGINE) STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT LEAST TWICE IN AUGUST, NUMEROUS TIMES IN SEPTEMBER, AND ALREADY TWICE THIS MONTH (OCTOBER). WHAT IS MORE CONCERNING IS THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE WARNS OF THE PENDING STALL CONDITION. ALSO, I HAVE HAD THE THERMOSTAT, LIFTERS, TAPPETS, ROCKER ARMS, CYLINDER HEAD, SPARK PLUGS, AND IGNITION COILS REPLACED AND PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (KOONS TYSONS CORNER). THE DEALER CANNOT READ ANY ACTIVE OR STORED CODES FOR THE STALLING ISSUE. ADDITIONALLY, THE SHOP FOREMAN ADVISED THAT IT APPEARED TO BE THE FUEL PUMP. I ORDERED THE $540.00 FUEL PUMP AND HAD REPLACED ON MONDAY OCTOBER 7, 2019 FOR AN ADDITIONAL $630.00. IRONICALLY ENOUGH, THE VEHICLE STALLED GOING HOME AND THE FUEL PUMP REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE MECHANIC AND SERVICE ADVISOR NOW SAY THAT I SHOULD REPLACE THE PCM AND THEN THE TIPUM IF ALL ELSE FAILS. THIS IS AN ADDITIONAL $3,000.00 IN ESTIMATED SERVICE THAT THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THE MOST CONCERNING THING IS THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS. I HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FCA, WHOM INITIALLY JUST CLOSED THE CASE. I THEN FILED ANOTHER ONE TODAY AND REQUESTED TO SPEAK WITH A CASE MANAGER, WHICH IS PENDING (NO FAITH AT THIS POINT). IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT FCA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS ADDRESSED IN THE RECALL: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 188,723 2011 DODGE DURANGO AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUVS IN THE U.S. BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE FUEL-PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE POWER MODULE THAT CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLES TO "STALL WITHOUT WARNING."
I WAS DRIVING ON THE I 595 HIGHWAY EAST BOUND AT NORMAL SPEED IN MOTION, WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR BEGAN SLOWING DOWN DRAMATICALLY, I DID THE BEST I COULD QUICKLY TO GET OFF ON THE SHOULDER, SUDDENLY ALL OF MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM VOLTAGE DROPED DISABLING MY SYSTEMS ,THEN I BEGAN FEELING HEAT COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER AND AREA'S OF THE CAR I, QUICKLY TRIED TO OPEN MY WINDOWS BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL TO FRONT WINDOWS , I QUICKLY RELEASED MY SEATBELT TO A READY TO EVACUATE THE CAR , I WAS FRIGHTENED SCARED BUT HAPPY THE I DIDNT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO ME AND OTHERS. .
ALTERNATOR RECALL ALREADY EXISTS FOR THIS 2011 PRODUCTION 8/2010, 3.6 LTR. 160 AMP. MY BATTERY LIGHT IS ON AND DEALER SAID ITS PROBABLY THE PCM. QUOTED 850 FOR PART .MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW UP ON ABOVE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH ALL QUALIFYING CRITERIA IS MET. WHY? CAR WILL STALL WHEN BATTERY IS DEAD. CANT BE DRIVEN AT NIGHT. DISABLEC VET CAREGIVER.
WHILE DRIVING 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH CHILDREN IN CAR, THE JEEP JUST STALLS OUT ON ME AND I LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. IT HAS HAPPENED MOST TIMES WHEN I AM MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE BLEVINS SEAWAY MOTORS DEALER (315-764-0283, LOCATED AT 98 CENTER ST, MASSENA, NY 13662) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE CLAM SHAFT SENSOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE MAIN FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS AN INTERIM FIX. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 71702932. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE INTERIM FIX AT THE OWNERS' EXPENSE AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO SEND RECEIPTS TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE 71664667. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE LOW VOLTAGE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED ELK GROVE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP (8575 LAGUNA GROVE DR, ELK GROVE, CA 95757, (916) 405-2600) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
3 TIMES IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS THIS CAR HAS STALLED WHILE BRAKING CAUSING ME TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH ON ONE OCCASION. LUCKILY THE FIRST TIME I WAS ON A STRAIGHT ROAD BUT THE LAST TWO TIMES HAPPENED 9/26/19 WHERE I HAD TO BRAKE WHILE TURNING AND ON THIS OCCASION I ALMOST CRASHED THE CAR INTO A MEDIAN. EACH TIME I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE JEEP DEALER SOON AFTER FOR AN INSPECTION AND EACH TIME I'M TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES ARE VISIBLE AND THEIR ROAD TESTS DO NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME, THE DEALER DID HOWEVER REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY (I THINK AS PART OF SOME RECALL) BUT DID NOT INDICATE THIS WAS THE SPECIFIC REASON FOR MY CAR STALLING. THIS REPAIR SEEMED TO SOLVE THE ISSUE UNTIL 9/26/19 WHEN IT HAPPENED TWICE CONSECUTIVELY. I FEAR THIS IS RELATED TO THE COUNTLESS OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS YEAR AND MODEL. I ASKED THE DEALER IF IT'S PERHAPS RELATED TO ALL THE TIPM ISSUES I'VE READ ABOUT WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND THEY SAID WITHOUT A DIAGNOSTIC CODES OR WITHOUT REPRODUCING THE ISSUE THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL. I'M TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR. HOW CAN THAT BE WHEN I'VE LOST CONTROL OF IT 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS AND ALMOST CRASHED IT ONCE? I FEAR THAT THIS CAR IS UNRELIABLE AND MAY KILL ME OR SOMEONE ELSE BUT I'M BEING TOLD IT'S FINE. I'D REALLY LOVE SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS OR GIVE ME GUIDANCE.
MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR DUE TO THE LISTED RECALL IN WHICH CHRYSLER HAS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE! THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AGAIN FOR DIAGNOSES BECAUSE I AM SCARED FOR MY LIFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP! I WAS IN MOTION GOING 55 MILES AN HOUR IN THE FAST LANE WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED FOR NO REASON. THE JEEP SERVICE TECH HAS LINKED IT BACK TO THE SAME FUEL RELAY AND THIS COULD BE A FATAL PROBLEM IF NOT FIXED. PLEASE I HAVE THREE KIDS AND MYSELF THAT COULD BE INJURED IF THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED ASAP!!*DT*JB CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 188,723 2011 DODGE DURANGO AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUVS IN THE U.S. BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE FUEL-PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE POWER MODULE THAT CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLES TO "STALL WITHOUT WARNING," ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. THE SUVS ARE EQUIPPED WITH EITHER A 3.6-LITER V6 OR 5.7-LITER V8 ENGINE. "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL-PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE MAY FAIL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING," SAID NHTSA IN ITS SUMMARY OF THE PROBLEM. "A VEHICLE STALL INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH." THIS IS PART OF A GLOBAL RECALL OF AN ESTIMATED 230,760 CHRYSLER SUVS, INCLUDING 15,898 IN CANADA, 7,126 IN MEXICO AND 19,013 OUTSIDE THE NAFTA REGION. CHRYSLER SAID IT IS UNAWARE OF ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES LINKED TO THE RECALL. IT ADDED THAT NO OTHER VEHICLE FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, ARE AFFECTED BY THE FUEL-PUMP RELAY. THE AFFECTED SUVS WERE BUILT FROM JANUARY 5, 2010 TO JULY 20, 2011. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL-PUMP RELAY WITH ONE EXTERNAL TO THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. WHILE DRIVING AND COMING TO TO A STOP THE ENGINE SUDDENLY TURNS OFF THEN MUST BE PUT INTO PARK TO RESTART. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR ABOUT A MONTH AND IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE.
CAR RANDOMLY STALLED OUT THIS MORNING WHILE BRAKING MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. NO LIGHTS OR WARNING JUST NOTICE IT WAS OFF DUE TO THE POWER STEERING NOT RESPONDING.
THERE IS A CRACK IN THE HOUSING WHICH IS A BIG RECALL PROBLEM IN JEEPS. BUT NOT THE 2011. OBVIOUSLY IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2011. IT WILL COST US ALOT OF MONEY TO GET IT FIXED WHEN I AM POSITIVE THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED LIKE THE OTHER YRS. A JEEP IS A JEEP. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. WE ARE NOT YOUNG PEOPLE THAT DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR CARS. WE ARE ELDERLY AND DRIVE RESPONSIBLY. OIL JUST BLOWS OUT OF THE CRACK WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE.

I HAVE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. IT WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL (P54) WHICH WAS FOR A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY. THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY WOULD CAUSE THE JEEP TO LOOSE ALL POWER WHICH, IN TURN, CAUSED A LOSS OF POWER TO STEERING AND BRAKING MAKING THE CARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF DRIVING WHEN THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED. I HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED, BUT IN 2019 THE VERY SAME PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER AND IF THEY VERIFIED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULTY THEY WOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS. I DID THAT AND ACTUALLY CALLED JEEP WHEN TO NOTIFY WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN. THE JEEP DEALER VERIFIED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULT AGAIN AND REPLACED. BUT, JEEP FAILED TO PAY AND I HAD TO. THEY HAVE NOT REFUNDED THE COST TO ME. JEEP HAS REPLACED A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY WITH EXACTLY THE SAME THING, A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY, EXPOSING MOTORISTS TO EXTREME DANGER. IF YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, IN TRAFFIC AND YOU LOOSE STEERING AND BRAKING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD BE INVOLVED. JEEP KNEW WHAT IT WAS DOING IN REPLACING A FAULTY PART WITH EXACTLY THE SAME FAULTY PART IN THE RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING ON 376-E IN PITTSBURGH FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AT ABOUT 50-MPH, I SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR. THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE REPEATEDLY FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 198-250 DEGREES. AT TIMES ENGINE AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS WOULD COME ON, BUT TURN OFF AS TEMPERATURE WENT BELOW 230 DEGREES. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY PULLED OVER IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA NEAR MY HOME WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF MY HOOD. UPON OPENING THE HOOD, VOLUMES OF SMOKE CAME OUT. I CALLED AAA FOR A TOW, BUT AFTER 20 MINUTES THE ALTERNATOR STOPPED SMOKING. THERE IS A GOODYEAR REPAIR SHOP A BLOCK AWAY-- THE JEEP STARTED, SO I DROVE IT THERE. AND, CANCELED AAA. THE GOODYEAR CONCURRED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS TOTALLY FRIED, SO I HAD THEM REPLACE IT--($700, WILL PROVIDE RECEIPT IF YOU REQUIRE IT). AFTER REPLACING IT THE JEEP WOULD NOT START. I CALLED AAA AGAIN, AND HAD THEM TOW IT TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP. TOLD THEM OF THE INCIDENT. NOW THEY ARE SAYING I NEED TO REPLACE THE POWERTRAIN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE--($1,000), THAT SHORTED OUT THE RESULT OF THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE. I NEED MY JEEP FOR WORK, THEY ARE REPLACING THE PTCM ON MONDAY. I'VE SEEN ALTERNATOR RECALLS FOR SOME 2011-2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND WRANGLERS. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE OTHER DAY (IT HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION), SO I CALLED THE REPAIR SHOP. THE MANAGER SAID THAT IT MEANT MY BATTERY WAS NOT RECEIVING A CHARGE AND TO DRIVE IT STRAIGHT IN, SO I DID. HE AND I BOTH SMELLED SMOKE FROM MY VEHICLE WHEN I ARRIVED (APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES AFTER THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON). UPON INSPECTION, HE SAID THAT MY ALTERNATOR HAD SHORTED OUT AND HAD SINGE MARKS INSIDE AND IT HAD ALSO OVERHEATED MY BATTERY. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT MY CAR ON FIRE (AND THE MANAGER OF THE REPAIR SHOP VERIFIED THAT IT COULD HAVE), ESPECIALLY SINCE THE BATTERY CONNECTION IS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. HE SAID THE YELLOW DISCOLORATION (SEE PHOTO, ATTACHED) WAS FROM OVERHEATING/SINGE MARKS. HE AND I COULD ALSO BOTH SMELL SMOKE FROM THE ALTERNATOR AFTER IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE, SO IT WAS DEFINITELY THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE AND SMELL (ALTHOUGH MY BATTERY MAY HAVE BEEN SMOKING AS WELL ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP MANAGER). I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE ALTERNATOR (AND POSSIBLY THE BATTERY AS WELL AS A RESULT) SHOULD HAVE STARTED SMOKING AS THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURIES AND/OR DEATH.

THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS DEFECTIVE. THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED BUT THE PATCH "FIX" JEEP DOES DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY AND THEY KNOW THIS. I TOOK IT TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC WHO FOUDN A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE & PERFORMED A TUNE UP AND HE SAID I NEEDED TO REPORT THE PROBLEM TO JEEP AS THEY ARE KNOWN TO HAVE SEVER PROBLEMS. THE DEALER CHARGED ME TO "DIGANOSE" THE PROBLEM AND REPORTED BACK THAT THE LIFTERS AND CAM SHAFT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A BAD PROBLEM FOR JEEP THE LIFTERS HAVE BEEN ON BACK ORDER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY WILL NOT ADMIT IT IS A PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND NOW LOOKIN G AT REBUILDING AN ENGINE AND JEEP WILL ONLY PROVIDE 2 YEAR WARRANTY OR THE WORK, WHICH SHOWS THEY HAVE NO TRUST IN THE FIX AND THERE IS A FATAL FLAW WITH THE V-8 HEMI. PLEASE FORCE JEEP TO HONOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND CORRECT THE KNOWN MISTAKES WITH THEIR ENGINES.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and shut off without warning. The contact then discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the recall repair was completed; however, the failure persisted after the repair. After the initial recall repair, the relay was replaced twice but the failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,425.
THE REAR WINDOW GLASS IN THE LIFT-GATE EXPLODED INTO THOUSANDS OF SHATTERED FRAGMENTS, WITHOUT CAUSE OR WARNING IN MY NON-MOVING VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS. IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN DEFECT THAT IS INSAFE TO THE DRIVER AND OTHERS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING AREA AND I WAS INSIDE IT WITH MY FAMILY ON THE MOST RECENT OCCASION. THE PRIOR EVENT ICCURRED WITH MY HUSBAND STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, AS HE CLOSED THE LIFT-GATE. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR 11 YEARS, AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE OLD DESIGN OF THE REAR WINDOW GLASS. THE 2011 DESIGN HAS THE REAR WIPER AND MOTOR DIRECTLY MOUNTED ONTO THE GLASS, WHICH MAY BE THE PROBLEM. I SUFFERED GLASS CUTS AND GLASS DEBRIS INTO ONE EYE.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTOCENTRO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (BARRIO BAIROA, INDUSTRIAL PARK, KM 3.2, CAGUAS, PR 00725) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
