TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN THE VEHICLE PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT 5 MPH, IT STALLED AND ROLLED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO SHIFT THROUGH ALL GEARS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED GENGRAS CHRYSLER DODGE (460 CONNECTICUT BLVD, EAST HARTFORD CT, 06108 860-956-5083) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V572000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED AND STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED TEMPE CHRYSLER JEEP (7975 S AUTOPLEX LOOP, TEMPE, AZ 85284 (480) 496-4000) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS DENIED DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE BUT YEAR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING OR NOTICE. NOT EVEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE JEEP STALLS WITHOUT ANY ELECTRICAL SYMPTOMS BUT THE STEERING, ENGINE, AND BRAKING SYSTEMS FAIL. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN DECELERATING. DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY DECELERATION. I'VE BEEN LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE TOWARD A STOP. NORMALLY UNDER A HALF TANK OF GAS BUT EVEN THAT IS NOT RELIABLE. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET FOR "JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING" YOU'LL FIND A PRETTY ROBUST COLLECTION OF STORIES WHERE CONSUMERS LIKE ME UNWITTINGLY PAID MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A CAR THAT IS TRYING TO KILL THEM. YOU'RE ANSWER TO THE TIPM RECALL (THE FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT BREAKER? THE FIRST HALF-ASS ATTEMPT BY CRYSLER TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS NIGHTMARE) SAYS "THE FACTUAL BASES OF THE PETITIONER'S CONTENTIONS THAT ANY FURTHER INVESTIGATION IS NECESSARY ARE UNSUPPORTED" WHICH I FOUND HILARIOUS SINCE I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE WITH AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT THAT THE ENTIRE INTERNET CANNOT FIND A STANDARD SOLUTION TO OTHER THAN TO SELL THE VEHICLE OFF TO ANOTHER UNSUSPECTING VICTIM.
TWO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. FIRST, AT 99,000 THE CAMSHAFT BEGAN TO FAIL DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE VEHICLE IS NOW BURNING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL AND FUEL. I AM TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER REFUSE TO REPAIR/REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND, THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS 1-2 TIMES PER MONTH, TYPICALLY WHEN BREAKING FOR A STOP, OR BREAKING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. VERY DANGEROUS. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, BUT I SEE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
EXITING HIGHWAY. ONE INCIDENT MERGING RIGHT OFF RAMP. OTHER INCIDENT, SLOWING TO CROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC ONTO A ROAD. ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN. FCW LIGHT COMES ON. SENSOR ON FRONT IS KEPT VERY CLEAN! VEHICLE WILL RESTART BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE NONE INCIDENT. I READ THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLES. SHAME ON YOU! NEVER HAVE ANOTHER ONE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DON JACKSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 3950 JONESBORO RD, UNION CITY, GA 30291, (770) 969-7229) WHERE THE DASHBOARD WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS STILL OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

DRIVING TO WORK I 95 NORTH WHEN MY CAR LOSES ELECTRICAL POWER. JUST BOUGHT IT. DIDN'T KNOW JEEP HAD DEFECTIVE POWER SYSTEMS. ABLE TO CRUISE TO SLOW LANE IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED TO PRAY THE PUSH BUTTON START WILL WORK. IT DID ON THE SECOND PUSH.

WEST HILLS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (900 W HILLS BLVD, BREMERTON, WA 98312) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
LEFT HEAD BAD, CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE WITH PENTASTAR ENGINE. YOU HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM IN WHICH CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTY PLANS TO COVER THIS FAULTY ENGINE. MY JEEP WAS PURCHASE WITH A SALVAGE TITLE RELATED TO BODY WORK(ENGINE WAS NOT INVOLVED) WITH 43, 565 MILES. MY MILEAGE AT TIME OF LEFT HEAD DEFAULT 56, 567 MILES. I AM OUTRAGED!! MY FAMILY HAS BEEN TRUE ADVOCATES FOR THE JEEP PRODUCT FOR 20 YEARS, PURCHASING NINE JEEPS. I TRULY UNDERSTAND THAT THE WARRANTY FALLS OFF WITH A SALVAGE TITLE, I AM PLEADING FOR SOME REIMBURSEMENT FROM CHRYSLER KNOWING THAT THE PENTASTAR ENGINE IS FAULTY WITH LEFT HEAD. I HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR 10 DAYS IN ORDER FOR BLUEWATER CHRYSLER TO GET THE LEFT HEAD IN AND DO THE JOB. PARTS/INSTALLATION $1,893.05 WITH CAR RENTAL FROM ENTERPRISE $497.67 WITH A TOTAL OF $2,390.72. FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL- I PURCHASED THE USED CAR IN MAY 2018, NOTHING ABOUT THE RECALLS WAS DISCLOSE. RECENTLY THE CAR HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN OR RUMBLING AS I'M DRIVING. THANKFULLY I'M DRIVING IN THE CITY AND I CAN PULL TO THE SIDE. EVERY TIME I SHAKE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY 'REPAIR' IT STARTS UP STRONG AGAIN. I TRIED TAKING INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FIXED BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING CAUSE THEY ALREADY FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WASN'T FIXED. IT WAS CHEAPLY FIXED.
2011 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 5.7 V8 APPROX 124000 MILES STALLED WHEN TURNING LEFT THROUGH INTERSECTION SLOWING FROM 50 TO 25 MPH. STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED. ALL RECALLS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED WITH P54 (FUEL PUMP RELAY). FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT TOWING MY BOAT. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO HAVE SPANNED MANY YEARS AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP WITH NO WARNING. WHEN BROUGHT TO DEALER HE ADVISED ME IT WOULD HAVE TO GO TO AAMCO TRANSMISSION FOR THE PROPER DIAGNOSIS AND HAVE IT FIXED
2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING, ENGINE CONTROL AND BRAKING ALL BECOME DIFFICULT TO USE. HAPPENING WHILE TURNING CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VEER INTO THE GUARD RAILS, IF THEY ARE PRESENT, OR ONCOMING TRAFFIC, IF TURNING AWAY FROM TRAFFIC IS TOO DIFFICULT. LUCKILY, IN THE MULTIPLE TIMES THIS HAPPENED, I WAS TURNING RIGHT, EITHER ONTO THE HIGHWAY ONRAMP OR INTO A GAS STATION. THE TIMES INTO THE GAS STATION, SENT ME OVER THE CURB AND GRASS, BARELY MISSING THE PUMPS. THE VEHICLE SHOWS NO SIGNS OF AN ERROR ON THE DASH. ALL RADIO, LIGHTS AND GAUGES WORK FINE. ONCE YOU ARE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT MUST BE PUT INTO PARK AND THE PUSH BUTTON START RE-IGNITED. IT TERRIFIED MY FAMILY.
WHILE DRIVING AND DECELERATION THE JEEP SHUTS OFF. NO LIGHTS COME ON INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER RUNNING. THE FIRST CLUE IS LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE MILES OF DRIVING. THE JEEP STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AND THEN 99% OF THE TIME WON'T STALL AGAIN FOR A COUPLE DAYS. THIS IS GETTING MORE FREQUENT.
JEEP STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY DAUGHTER. IT ALSO DOES NOT START ALL THE TIME UNTIL YOU TRY IT 3 TIMES. IT STALLS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL RELAY THAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT NO FIX. I WAS SENT TO DEALER WHO PUT NEW PART ON FOR THE TIME BEING UNTIL FIX IS AVAILABLE BUT IT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. STALLED THE NEXT DAY WHILE TURNING OFF OF BUSY ROAD AND A TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME AND COMING TO THE CORNER I LOST USE OF POWER STEERING WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN UNREPAIRED FOR AN UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE CHEST, BACK, AND LEFT ARM. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED AT THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE POLICE HAD IT TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN TOW LOT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. DURING THE COLD MONTHS WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED MORE HEAT THAN WHAT SHOULD BE NORMAL ON MY FEET/LEGS, COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. 4/1/19 IT WAS A WARM DAY, SO THE EXTREME HEAT, WHILE I THEN NOTICED THE A/C WAS NOT WORKING, PROMPTED ME TO CALL JEEP DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT, AND SCHEDULED REPAIR FOR 5/7/19. THEY REPLACED THE HEATER CORE AND IT'S HOUSING--(ALONG WITH BLEND DOORS AND ACTUATORS FOR THE 3RD TIME). THEY SAID THE HOUSING HAD ACTUALLY MELTED FROM EXTREME HEAT. THERE IS NO WAY THIS UNDER DASHBOARD HEAT SHOULD BE THIS EXTREME, THE RESULT OF THE HEATER CORE. $2,200 TO REPLACE. SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM.

IT HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN WHICH I'M DRIVING AND THE JEEP SUDDENLY LOSES ALL ENGINE POWER, BRAKING AND POWER STEERING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE ARE NEVER ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR SOUNDS TO SIGNAL THIS IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. THIS LAST TIME IT ALMOST MADE ME CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
P54 / NHTSA 14V-530 WAS ADDRESSED BACK IN 2014 HOWEVER I STILL EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT STALLING DURING START UP OR BRAKING. ISSUE TYPICALLY HAPPENS IN COLDER WEATHER. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG BUT SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL TO ISSUES LISTED IN P54 / NHTSA 14V-530.
FAULTY HEADLIGHTS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT TIME THE HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY FAILED CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THESE HEADLIGHTS 8 MONTHS AGO NOW THIS.
MY DASHBOARD BUBBLED UP ON PASSENGER SIDE, FAKE WOOD TRIM UNDER DASH FELL OFF, ALTERNATOR FAILED FRIED BATTERY AND COMPUTER, QUADRA2 SUSPENSION FAILING , THIS ALL AT 82000 MILES AND AFTER MULTIPLE RECALLS. I PAID $40 K .IM AT SHOP NOW WITH SUSPENSION 24 HRS AFTER PAYING 1200. & JEEP IN SHOP 8 DAYS. THE ALTERNATOR FAILED A WK BEFORE 3.4.2019. DASHBOARD AND TRIM OCCURRED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED
I HAVE A 5.7 HEMI IN MY JEEP. THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN SLOWING DOWN, AND MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN OFF OF A HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES IN THE 2 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. IT HAPPENED ONCE WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A SPEED ZONE ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. THE VEHICLE GIVES NO WARNING THAT IT IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER DID SOME DIAGNOSTICS, BUT FOUND NOTHING. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO THE 5.7 ENGINES. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING THE CAR WITH ANYONE IN IT FOR FEAR OF GETTING REAR ENDED IF IT STALLS, AND PEOPLE ARE BEHIND ME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MISFIRED AND THE CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 58148205. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
VEHICLE'S ENGINE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN 2018 AND THE ENGINE STALLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FEBRUARY 2019. THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN IN JUNE 2020 AND TWICE IN FEBRUARY 2021. THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING USUALLY WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. I WAS IN DANGER BECAUSE THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT DEAD WITH CARS BEHIND ME. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR-ENDED IN ALL OF THOSE INSTANCES. RECALL WAS PERFORMED, BUT ENGINE STALLED AGAIN ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED. THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING CAUSES THE CAR TO STOP SUDDENLY, AND IT CAN RESULT IN INJURIES, CAR ACCIDENT, LOSS OF LIFE AND OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. LESTER GLENN DEALERSHIP IS WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THEY WERE THE ONES WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO MONTHS AFTER I BROUGHT IT IN WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN AFTER THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CLOSED THE CASE DUE TO THE DEALERSHIP TELLING THEM THAT THEY CANNOT RECIPROCATE THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO TREMBLE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN IN TRAFFIC. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW MULTI-DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM, LIFTERS, AND CYLINDERS WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CASE WAS FILED; HOWEVER, A PARTS SPECIALIST WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,005.
THE VEHICLE WAS CRUISING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPS.,VEHICLE COASTS TO A STOP. AFTER A 15 MINUTE WAIT, THE ENGINE STARTS AGAIN.
ALL LIGHTS BEGAN RANDOMLY FLASHING, WIPERS WENT ON AT VARYING SPEEDS, POWER SEATS WERE MOVING, TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING GEARS INAPPROPRIATELY. WHEN THIS STARTED I WAS ABOUT 3 MILES FROM HOME. THE VEHICLE STALLED THREE TIMES AND WAS HARDER TO START AFTER EACH STALL. UPON ARRIVING HOME AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THR PAST WEEK NOW I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT ARE BACKUP FOR THIS WEEK. AND NOW TODAY MY JEEP WONT EVEN TURN ON WITH A JUMPER CABLES, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY FINALLY SAID THAT THEY ARE SENDING A TOW TRUCK TO MY HOUSE.
STOP AT A GAS STATION WENT TO START VEHICLE WOULD NOT START MADE SOME CLICKING NOISES OPEN THE HOOD SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR ,ALTERNATOR WAS EXTREMELY HOT HAD VEHICLE TOWED COME TO FIND OUT ALTERNATOR WENT TO GROUND BURNED UP THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. WAS TOLD 2011 MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR ALTERNATORS DOING THIS VERY THING, DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE ALTERNATOR BUT OTHER 2011'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE ALTERNATOR. MY MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE COULD'VE STARTED ON FIRE FROM IT GOING TO GROUND THE WAY IT DID. WAS AT THE GAS PUMP COULD'VE TURNED INTO A MAJOR ISSUE AT A GAS STATION. VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE SHOP HAVE IN THE COMPUTER REPLACED TODAY NO DOCUMENTATION ON IT YET
2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 5.7L IS RANDOMLY STALLING WHILE SLOWING DOWN FROM SPEEDS AROUND 55+MPH. HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN LAST 2 MONTHS. I LOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE ABILITIES. ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS REMAIN ON AFTER VEHICLE STALLS. ONCE STALLING, THE VEHICLE WILL START RIGHT BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEMS AND DRIVE FINE. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND IS VERY UNSAFE. I WAS IN A NEAR COLLISION THIS LAST TIME AND AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH MYSELF OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CAR.
THE PUSH START WON'T START THE VEHICLE AND VEHICLE STALLS. I BROUGHT IT TO FIRESTONE AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND GAVE ME A QUOTE OF THE COST TO FIX IT.
THE FUEL PUMP RECALL OF THE RECALL IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I HAVE ALREADY FILED ONE COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WENT ON DEAF EARS. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM TO JEEP AND DEALER FOR YEARS AND THEY JUST TELL ME THAT THEY WILL NOT ISSUE RECALL FOR A CAR THAT IS TEN YEARS OLD. THE FIRST RECALL WAS A JOKE AND THE CHEAPEST FIX I HAVE EVER SEEN AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT WORK AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN. THE REAL PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP IS THE TIPM MODULE AND THIS WHOLE PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. TOO MANY LIVES ARE AT RISK FOR JEEP TO TRY ANOTHER PATCH JOB THIS TIME AROUND. VEHICLE HAD A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #3. TOOK TO JEEP DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE AND THEY FOUND A ROUNDED CAMSHAFT AND BAD LIFTERS. VEHICLE HAS 104,000 ON IT AND I INQUIRED AS TO OPTIONS. #1 - $4,600 REPAIR (MIN IF THEY DO NOT FIND ANYTHING ELSE) AND THEY WERE HAVING ISSUES GETTING LIFTERS DUE TO BACK ORDER #2 - REPLACE ENGINE, QUOTED $8,600 AND ONCE AGAIN WAS UNSURE THE TIMING AS NO LONG OR SHORT BLOCKS WERE AVAILABLE. INQUIRED AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING, AS THE OWNER, I COULD'VE DONE. THAT SOMETIMES THIS JUST HAPPENS AND IF IT WAS CLOSER IN YEARS TO THE END OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD COVER, HOWEVER SINCE IT IS 7 YEARS OLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. FIND IT SURPRISING AND UNACCEPTABLE THAT WITH A LITTLE RESEARCH YOU CAN FIND THAT THE 5.7 HEMI HAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT ROUNDED CAMSHAFTS DUE TO BAD LIFTERS. FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY WERE COMMENTING ON HOW HARD IT WAS TO OBTAIN THE NECESSARY PARTS TO REPAIR.
ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 65 A LOUD BUZZING NOISE IS CREATED AS RESULT OF POOR SEALING BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD GLASS AND THE FLEXIBLE SEAL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN TAPE WAS APPLIED ACROSS THE SEAL AT THE LOWER WINDSHIELD THE NOISE WAS ELIMINATED. ON NEWER MODELS OF THE SAME STYLE THE SEAL HAS BEEN REDESIGNED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS AND HOT THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN FOR A CORNER THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND I LOST BREAKS AND STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE STEERING THROUGH THE CORNER AND COASTED TO A STOP. I PUT THE JEEP IN PARK, GOT THE BREAK PEDAL AND STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK AGAIN. WHEN I LOST THE ENGINE, BREAKS AND STEERING NOTHING ELSE WAS EFFECTED. I STILL HAD LIGHTS, RADIO AND GAUGES. BUT, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CODES CAME ON.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE MILEAGE JUMPS HIGHER THAN WHAT THE ACTUAL MILEAGE IS. PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT AROUND 6:40AM IN THE DARK WHEN SENSORS IN MY VEHICLE STARTED FLICKERING ON/OFF, THEN THE AMBIENT LIGHTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE STARTED FLICKERING ON/OFF BEFORE SHUTTING OFF, THEN THE STEREO WENT OUT, THEN THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF, AND THEN THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT THAT THE BATTERY WAS LOW BEFORE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. THE REPAIR SHOP THE CAR WAS TOWED TO SAID THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE. WHEN THEY TESTED THE ALTERNATOR AFTER REPLACING THE BATTER, IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE ZERO OUTPUT.

AIR RIDE SUSPENSION AIRBAGS HAS TO BE RECHARGED EVERY MONTH SINCE 2019. WHILE PARKED FRONT END BECOMES LOW (DURING 1-MONTH PERIOD) NOT LEAVING APPROPRIATE DISTANCE FROM WHEEL TO TOP OF WHEEL WELL, RESULTING IS A VERY BUMPING RIDE, UNTIL RECHARGED. BRAND NEW OEM LINES AND COMPRESSOR REPLACED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH OR LESS, "AIR SUSPENSION NEEDS SERVICE" NOTIFICATION COMES ON. FRONT OF HOOD (WHERE THE CHROME JEEP IS DISPLAYED) EXTERIOR NOW SHOWS PAINT CORROSION.
I STARTED THE JEEP UP IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED A WHINING SOUND THAT CHANGED WITH ENGINE RPMS. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS ON THE DASH TO INDICATE A FAILURE OF ANY COMPONENTS. I ONLY HAD TO RUN TO THE STORE 4 MILES AWAY AND THOUGHT I WOULD LOOK AT IT WHEN I RETURNED HOME. ONCE I GOT TO THE STORE, I SMELT AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN I RAISED THE HOOD, THE ALTERNATOR WAS PRODUCING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SMOKE. I WAS CONCERNED MY VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE. I HAD SOME ONE BRING ME SOME TOOLS SO I COULD DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ONCE THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED, I LOCATED A REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR ($400) LOCALLY AT A PARTS STORE AS IT WAS A SUNDAY EVENING AND NO DEALERS WERE OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR IN THE STORE PARKING LOT. I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS, BUT WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD TO ENSURE ALL WAS GOOD WITH THE NEW ALTERNATOR, IT WAS ONCE AGAIN SO HOT I COULD NOT TOUCH IT. THERE WAS NO SMOKE AS OF YET, BUT IT DOES SEEM THAT THERE IS STILL AN ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR TO CATCH FIRE. I AM SURE THE NEW ALTERNATOR WILL ALSO BE DAMAGED IF THE JEEP IS DRIVEN ANY MORE. CURRENTLY I AM FORCED TO LEAVE MY JEEP PARKED UNTIL I CAN ENSURE I HAVE AN EMERGENCY BACK UP AVAILABLE. THE JEEP DOES ACT NORMAL NOW THE ALTERNATOR IS CHANGED OUT, AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING AS NORMAL. I AM JUST CONCERNED THE NEW ALTERNATOR MAY FAIL AGAIN AND CAUSE A FIRE IN MY JEEP. NOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR MY NORMAL COMMUTE. THE JEEP ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. BOTH MUFFLERS HAVE RUSTED AND HAVE HOLES IN THEM. MY JEEP IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, NEVER DRIVEN ON THE BEACH, WASHED REGULARLY AND VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. WE BOUGHT IT 10/31/11 STRAIGHT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR WITH 6MILES ON IT. NOTICED THIS TODAY 12/25/18 DUE TO PUDDLES ON THE GARAGE FLOOR.
TICKING FROM LEFT CYLINDER HEAD AND MINOR TICK FROM RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD. CHRYSLER ADMITS TO HAVING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN VEHICLE AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD. IF THERE IS A COMPRESSION ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE STALLS IN THE ROADWAY COULD BE A FATAL MISTAKE. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IN ALL VEHICLES INCLUDED WITH THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD. OR RECALL THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IN IS MOTION AND COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE WILL STALL. I HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING OR BRAKES BEFORE I CAN RESTART, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THERE HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. THAT RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED TWICE. I STILL HAVE THE ENGINE STALL PROBLEM. JEEP IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND SEEMS UNWILLING TO REPLACE THE TICM TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY APPEARS TO BYPASS THE TICM.
