MY SON JUST CALLED ME AND THIS IS THE SECOND VALVE STEM WHICH HAS BROKEN OFF, ENDING UP WITH A FLAT TIRE. HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO UNSCREW THE VALVE STEM CAP WHEN THE STEM BROKE OFF AND THE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE FIRST ONE WHICH BROKE, SIMILAR SITUATION, APPEARED TO HAVE DEFECTIVE METAL OR FLAW. I BELIEVE THIS COMPONENT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE (UNLESS DAMAGAE THROUGH AN ACCIDENT OR SIMILAR).
VALVE STEMS ( THAT ARE METAL AND HAVE A SENSOR) ARE CORRODING ARE LITERALLY SNAPPING OFF. I'VE CONTACTED JEEP DIRECTLY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. I'VE REPLACED 3 VALVE STEMS IN ONE WEEK. MY LATEST ONE HAPPENED TODAY ON AN INTERSTATE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HORRIBLE CRASH. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF RECEIPTS THAT I CAN'T UPLOAD AT THE MOMENT THAT STATE "BAD" VALVE STEMS.
EVER SINCE I HAD TIRES PUT ON, THE SEALS LEAK AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH JEEP PATRIOT RIMS. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL RANDOMLY COMES ON AND THE CAR WONT GO, I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART (INTERMITTENT PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL MONTHS) NOW THE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND WONT GO OVER 20MPH. IVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. WHY NO RECALLS ON THIS?!?!? *TR
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SANK INTO THE TIRE CAUSING THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE METAL COLLAR AROUND THE SENSOR CORRODED AND FRACTURED CAUSING THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT, THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE ALUMINUM TIRE VALVE MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER AND REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
TIRE LOW SENSOR WAS ACTIVATED. UPON CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE, NOTICED TWO VALVE STEMS WERE BROKEN OFF. THEY WERE REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE AS CHRYSLER SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. CAR CURRENTLY HAS THREE MORE BROKEN STEMS. MATERIAL SEEMS TO BE DEFECTIVE AND CANNOT REPLACE STEMS WITHOUT REPLACING ENTIRE SENSOR. *TR
