TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED TOO EASILY WHEN STRUCK BY OBJECTS WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE LEATHER IS RIPPING AND DETERIORATING THE LEATHER MAY BE BAD QUALITY
I HAVE A WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED 2014. AROUND 48,000 MILES I SMELLED BURNING OIL AN NOTICED OIL LEAKING UNDER THE CARRIAGE WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THAT THE OIL COOLER WAS LEAKING. THE ENGINE WAS FILLED WITH OIL. THEY REPLACED THE OIL COOLER AND ADAPTER. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. I HOPE JEEP REPLACED THE DAMAGED PART WITHONE THAT WILL PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM REOCCURRING.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHUTTER THEN LOCKED UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY SWERVE TO THE RIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO WRAP AROUND A LIGHT POLE. BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ...UPDATED 04/11/17 *BF SEE PICTURES ATTACHED *TR UPDATED 08/11/2017*JS
I RECENTLY STARTING TO SMELL BURNING OIL IN MY JEEP. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, AND FIGURED THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A MINOR SPILL OR THE OLD OIL WAS BURNING OFF AFTER MY RECENT OIL CHANGE. BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS, THE SMELL REMAINED AND I NOTICED AN OIL STAIN WHERE I PARK THIS JEEP IN MY DRIVEWAY. I THEN THOUGHT THAT MAYBE MY MECHANIC FAILED TO PROPERLY INSTALL MY OIL FILTER AFTER THE LAST OIL CHANGE. BUT TURNS OUT, THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS LEAKING OIL. THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED. AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS PART IS MADE FROM PLASTIC AND HAS CAUSED MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SPECIFIC MODEL YEAR. MY SISTER, WHO HAS THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL ALSO HAD TO HAVE HERS REPLACED. I ONLY HAVE 50K HIGHWAY MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER, SO JEEP MAY HAVE MADE A MODIFICATION TO THE PART. I HOPE SO!
BURNING SMELL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, TOOK IT IN AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY OIL COOLER. ENGINE WAS FILLED WITH OIL AND IT WAS A MAJOR LEAK FROM THE BACK. PART #68105583-AE WAS PUT IN IT'S PLACE AND I HAVE A SNEAKING SUSPICION IT WAS PART #68105583-AA THAT WAS BROKEN SINCE IT WAS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC! MY JEEP HAS 32K MILES, AND IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THIS IS TOO MUCH! RECALL PLEASE!
2014 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON 3.6. OIL FILTER ADAPTER LEAKING OIL. VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 20 THOUSAND MILES ON IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. TOOK IT IN TWO DAYS AGO SHOWED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PICTURES OF THE OIL ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. AFTER READING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS (2014 JEEP WRANGLER 3.6) I TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO LOOK AT THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND SAID " YOU HAVE A OIL LEAK FROM THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER". IS THIS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM? WILL I HAVE TO REPLACE THIS PART EVERY 20 THOUSAND MILES? I REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER TWICE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE GOTTEN KNOW RESPONSE. I FEEL THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR AND ENGINE FIRE IF CHRYSLER DOES NOT COME UP WITH A PERMANENT FIX.
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A 2" PLAY AND IS CAUSING ME TO COMPENSATE ON EVERY DRIVE NOW. THIS HAS STARTED APPROXIMATLY 10,000 MILE PREVIOUS, BUT HAS INCREASED STEADILY OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS. I'M TOLD I NEED A NEW STEERING GEAR BOX INSTALLED.

THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS PART IS MADE FROM PLASTIC AND HAS CAUSED MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SPECIFIC MODEL YEAR. A FRIEND OF MINE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE HIS. ONLY HAVE 30K MILES ON THE VEHICLE SO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU GET YOUR OIL CHANGED, WHOEVER IS SERVICING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT TIGHTEN DOWN THE FILTER TOO MUCH BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE THE PLASTIC PART TO CRACK. LOOKS LIKE THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS A DIFFERENT NUMBER SO JEEP MAY HAVE MADE A MODIFICATION TO THE PART.
CLOCK SPRING BROKEN WITH NO PERTINENT DAMAGE TO VEHICLE OR PERTINENT EVENTS, WOKE UP ONE MORNING AND THE ENTIRE STEELING COLUMN DIDN'T WORK ELECTRICALLY.
DID OIL AND FILTER CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I GOT ON THE FREEWAY AND LOOKED AT MY REAR WINDOW WHEN I SAW SMOKE. DID NOT THINK OF IT MUCH SINCE I FIGURED ITS THE OLD OIL BURNING. DROVE FOR A GOOD 2-3 MILES AND IT WAS GETTING WORSE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND A LOT OF SMOKE GOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. GOT OUT AND THE OIL WAS DRAINING OVER THE MUFFLER, TRANSMISSION COVER THAT WAS CAUSING THE SMOKE. I THOUGHT THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE SCREW BACK ON OR THE OIL FILTER LOOSE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THAT IT MIGHT OF BEEN THE OIL COOLER THAT WAS DRAINING OR GOT CRACKED, HE SAID THAT THIS IS PRETTY COMMON. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR RECALLS BUT DID NOT FIND ANY BUT I DID NOTICE A LOT OF JEEP FORUMS ONLINE THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YR. THIS COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD WITH ALL THAT OIL DRAINING ON THE MUFFLER AND THE ENGINE. BAD DESIGN OVERALL! I EVEN KNOW THAT, IT DOESN'T TAKE A GENIUS TO FIGURE THAT OUT, ITS COMMON SENSE. MAKING PARKS WITH PLASTIC PIPES? BY THE ENGINE AND IN A HOT AREA? IT MIGHT BE TO SAVE MONEY IN PARTS BUT I AM PAYING ON A $40000 JEEP. GOT THE PART 68105583AA REPLACED WITH 68105583AE. HOPEFULLY THIS GOT MOTIFIED.
UNKNOWN REASON: MY JEEP WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK AND CAUGHT FIRE. THIS FIRE FROM THE JEEP CAUGHT MY HOUSE ON FIRE AS WELL. MY NEIGHBOR HEARD A FEW EXPLOSIONS AND WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE TOOK THE ATTACHED PICTURE AFTER HE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER TO COME OUT TO SEE THE DAMAGE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 51,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS 3 DAYS NEW TO US, EXHIBITED THE CLASSIC JEEP DEATH WOBBLE. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND ONLY STOPPED ONCE THE BRAKE WAS ACTIVATED. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES BEFORE THE ALIGNMENT WAS RIGHTED AND A PART REPLACED.
I'VE NOTICED FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS LIKE LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND BUT HAVE YET TO PINPOINT THE EXACT LOCATION. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IF THEY HAVE HAD ANY ISSUES WITH LEAKS AND DANCED AROUND THE QUESTION AND SAID I WOULD NEED TO LEAVE IT FOR A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT IT, I ASKED IF MY WARRANTY WAS STILL VALID AND THE HAD RAN MY VIN AND SAID IT WAS EXPIRED......WHICH IS PUZZLING CAUSE I HAVE AROUND 30K MILES ON IT. SO I STILL HAVE A MYSTERY LEAK AND READING UP ON DIFFERENT FORUMS SEEMS TO BE ON ONGOING ISSUES WITH COOLING OIL LINES OR OIL FILTER ADAPTER, OIL COOLER. *TR
ACCELERATING INTO A HIGHWAY THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK I HAD TO PULL IT UP WITH MY FOOT
THE OIL FILTER CANISTER #68105583AA CRACKED BLEEDING OIL PROFUSELY.
CLOCKSPRING RECALL (NHTSA RECALL # 16V-288) ( MANUF RECALL # S40) AFFECTS NOT ONLY THE AIRBAG BUT.. ALSO....."CAUSES A NON WORKING HORN". NO HORN IS A SAFETY HAZARD BY NOT HAVING IT WORKING AT ANY TIME WHILE OPERATING (STOPPED OR DRIVING) THE JEEP. JEEP DEALERS HAVE "NO" EST OF WHEN REPAIR PART WILL BE AVAILABLE???? ""NOT ACCEPTABLE ON THE PART OF JEEP/CHRYSLER!!!!!''' THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL WIRES, ENGINE ROCKERS, FRONT U JOINTS, ENGINE HARNESS AND FUEL INJECTOR HARNESS, FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ADN SUSPENSION ALL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY BRACKET HAD BROKEN.
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CYCLES ON AND OFF AT VARIOUS TIMES. THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY SPECIFIC FACTORS. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IDLING IN PARK, TURNING EITHER DIRECTION, OR DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT RANDOM SPEEDS.
ON 6/23/16, I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SAHARA ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. I ACCELERATED TO MERGE INTO THE LEFT LANE AND THEN, AFTER LETTING UP ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT THE SAME RATE OF SPEED. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED AS EXPECTED BUT I HEARD A DISTINCT "POPPING" NOISE, SEEMINGLY AS IF THE GAS PEDAL HAD POPPED BACK INTO PLACE. JUST A FEW MILES LATER, WHILE DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE, I ACCELERATED A BIT TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. THE ACCELERATOR "STUCK" A SECOND TIME, AND SO I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AGAIN BY SLOWING BUT THIS TIME, WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE AGAIN TO KEEP PACE WITH TRAFFIC, THE GAS PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY NON-RESPONSIVE (I.E., THE PEDAL HAD SEEMED TO FALL TO THE FLOOR AND PRESSING IT DID NOT RESULT IN ANY FURTHER ACCELERATION). I PULLED ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP VERBALLY TOLD ME COMPUTER FAULT CODE READ AS "ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN CORRELATION" AND SAID THE GAS PEDAL MODULE WAS READING INCORRECTLY. SERVICE ADVISOR ADMITTED TO HAVING SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. WHEN PICKING UP VEHICLE, SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT PROBLEM WAS DUE TO EXCESSIVE DIRT ON/BEHIND THE GAS PEDAL. THERE IS NO WAY IT WAS CAUSED BY THIS, AS JEEP HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN OFF-ROAD, NO ONE DRIVES IT WITH MUDDY SHOES, ETC. ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AND PCM WAS UPDATED TO THE MOST CURRENT SOFTWARE LEVEL. PREVIOUSLY ON THIS VEHICLE, THE SENTRY KEY WAS REPLACED AS WAS THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, AS WAS THE FRONT STABILIZER/SWAY BAR. NOT SURE IF THE STUCK ACCELERATOR IS DUE TO A COMPUTER/SOFTWARE GLITCH OR A MECHANICAL FAILURE. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THAT ISSUES WITH "STUCK" ACCELERATORS ON THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR VEHICLE ARE NOT UNCOMMON. INVOICE ATTACHED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
I HAVE AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASH (SINCE 2016) WITH A CODE A DIAGNOSTIC FROM A CERTIFIED CHRYSLER DEALER STATING IT MATCHES THE RECALL FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM (NEEDING THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED BECAUSE OF DUST CONTAMINATION) HOWEVER THE VIN DOES NOT FALL WITHIN RANGE. I AM WORRIED THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE POORLY MADE COMPONENTS AND JEEP'S REFUSAL TO FIX THIS WILL RESULT IN UNNECESSARY INJURY.
BRAKES LOCKED UP IN DRIVEWAY AFTER STARTING VECHICLE. BRAKE PEDAL WAS FULLY DEPRESSED WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM DRIVER. VECHICLE TAKE TO DEALER AND PROBABLE CAUSE WAS BRAKE CONTROLLER IN REAR FLOOR AREA GETTING WET. CAUSE OF WATER IN VECHICLE IS CLOGGED AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN. THE CLOGGING OF THIS DRAIN IS AN ONGOING SITUATION WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE SAFETY PROBLEM IS THAT THE VECHICLE IS TOWED BEHIND A MOTORHOME AND THIS REQUIRES A BRAKE CONTROLLER TO BE INSTALLED. THE INSTALLATION ON THIS VECHICLE IS ON THE REAR FLOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER. IF THE UNIT WERE TO GET WET AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP IT COULD CAUSE THE MOTOR HOME OPERATOR TO LOSE CONTROL AND/OR CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE MOTORHOME OR TOWED VECHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE DRAIN PROBLEM AND HAS ISSUED NO SAFETY WARNING REGARDING THE PLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE CONTROLLER. THE VECHICLE IN QUESTION IS A FAVORITE TOW VECHICLE OF MANY RV OWNERS.
WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND I'M GOING AT FASTER SPEED THEN ON THE CITY STREET THERE IS A WOBBLE AND MY TRUCK FEELS AS IF IT IS GOING TO FLIP OVER OR SOMETHING. ALSO WHEN I AM ON THE CITY STREETS AND DRIVE OVER AND UNEVEN PAVEMENT I GET THE SAME WOBBLE OR SOMETIMES IT FEELS AS IF MY TRUCK IS BEING LIFTED OFF THE GROUND.
COOLANT LEAK FROM RADIATOR, PASSENGER SIDE TOP CORNER UNDER SHROUD. I HAVE TWO 2014 JEEPS WITH THE SAME LEAK. SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS THERE ARE MANY THREADS ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME ISSUE. MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED BUT THESE ARE ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT BE FAILING LIKE THIS.
ON 5/6/16 I WENT TO START MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON AND THE ENGINE DID NOT MAKE A NOISE BUT THE DASH LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. THE WINDOWS HAD POWER AND RADIO WORKED BUT THE DOOR LOCK OR ALARM DID NOT WORK. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND WAS CALLED THE "TIPM MODULE" WHICH IS BASICALLY THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX AND PART OF THE COMPUTER. I WAS STUCK THERE IN NORTH CAROLINA FROM MARYLAND FOR FOUR EXRA DAYS. NOW AFTER GETTING BACK HOME TO MARYLAND ON 6/5/16 I GO TO TRY AND ACCELORATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A RAMP AND THE TRANSMISSION REVS TO 5,500 RPM BUT THE JEEP WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO EASE OFF THE GAS AND LET IT ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY. THANK GOD NO TRUCKS WERE COMING OR IT COULD HAVE BEED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION CONSIDERING IT WAS INTERSTATE 95 BY 175 WHERE SEMI TRUCKS GO TO THE TA TRUCK STOP.
THE ADHESIVE LAYER BETWEEN THE TWO LAYERS OF GLASS ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS NUMEROUS CRYSTALS THAT REFRACT THE LIGHT. THIS IS INTERFERING WITH VISIBILITY DURING LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS, ILLUMINATION BY HEADLIGHTS, OR WITH LOW ANGLE LIGHT FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES INCLUDING SUNRISE AND SUNSET.
AROUND 14K MILES MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON (3.6L) BEGAN LEAKING OIL. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE SHOP 4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND NO ISSUE WITH THE FILTER OR DRAIN PLUG CAN BE FOUND. IT NOW LEAKS OIL PROFUSELY (15K) AND CONSTANTLY HAS A BURNING SMELL AFTER DRIVEN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. MY SERVICE CENTER HAS NOTED THAT MY ENGINE HAS AN "OIL FILTER ADAPTER" WHICH APPEARS TO BE NEW FOR THIS MODEL YEAR AND THE LEAK APPEARS TO BE EMANATING FROM THAT AREA. AFTER READING VARIOUS ARTICLES ON DIFFERENT FORUMS, IT APPEARS THAT THE PART # IN QUESTION IS 68105583AA AND APPLIES ONLY TO 2014 3.6L CHRYSLER V6 ENGINES.
PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO WORK EVEN AFTER ADJUSTMENT
AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED STARTED LEAKING OIL. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL COOLER WAS FAILING AND LEAKING. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE "STANDARD" OIL FILTER THAT HAD BEEN INSTALLED AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE (WHICH WAS DONE AT A REPUTABLE FACILITY) WAS THICKER AND BETTER THAN THE FILTER CHRYSLER USES. THIS THICKER, BETTER FILTER APPARENTLY CAUSES OIL PRESSURE TO INCREASE IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINE TO MOVE THE OIL THRU THIS FILTER. A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE FOUND MULTIPLE OTHER ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME PART FAILING. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IF I USE ANY OIL FILTER OTHER THAN THE ONE THEY SELL THAT IF ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURS IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED.
FOR MONTHS I SMELLED ANTIFREEZE FROM THE FRONT OF THE JEEP BUT THERE WERE NO LEAKS . AFTER A MONTH I FOUND DRIED ANTIFREEZE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR PASSENGER SIDE . I WAS DRIVING ON I-65 ON A SLIGHTLY RAINY DAY. I STOPPED TO FILL WITH GAS AND WHEN I ENTERED THE INTERSTATE I NOTICED THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO FISHTAIL BUT I THOUGHT MAYBE I HIT A SLICK SPOT. IN A SHORT TIME I GOT BEHIND A SLOW TRUCK AND WHEN THE TRAFFIC CLEARED I STARTED TO GO AROUND THE TRUCK ACCELERATING NORMALLY AND THE VEHICLE FISH TAILED SO DRASTICALLY THE TRUCK DRIVER ACTUALLY MOVED PARTIALLY ONTO THE SHOULDER. I SLOWED AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD THINKING I MAY HAVE A TIRE GOING FLAT. UPON CHECKING THE TIRES I FOUND NO PROBLEM. I STARTED BACK ON MY TRIP BUT COULD TELL MY JEEP WAS NOT FEELING AS IT SHOULD WHEN ACCELERATING. WHEN NO VEHICLES WERE IN SIGHT I INTENTIONALLY ACCELERATED AND THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN FISH TAILED. SOON I CAME UPON SLOW TRAFFIC AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE LEFT REAR WHEEL LOCKED UP AND SLIDE. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO AN EXIT I STOPPED AND AND STILL COULD FIND NO PROBLEM BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE (MISTAKE). I CONTINUED ON TO MY DESTINATION VERY CAUTIOUSLY. IT WAS LATE AND AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT OVERNIGHT IT SEEMED TO BE FINE AND HAS NOT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM SINCE. THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY A DEALER WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND AND I REALLY FELT THEY DID NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SAYING. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT AND CHEKED IT ON A RAINY DAY.
THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING HAS COOLANT RESIDUE ON IT AND IS CRACKED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE JEEPS. THIS PART IS NOT A PART THAT CAN BE BROKEN THE ONLY REASON SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH IT IS THAT IT IS DEFECTED. MOPAR SHOULD BE REPLACING THESE PARTS.
CLOCK SPRING FAILURE AT 44,000 MILES, DISABLING THE AIR BAG. DEALER TELLS ME NO WARRANTY PAST 36,000 MI. ON THIS PART FAILURE EVEN THOUGH IT AFFECTS SAFETY. BUT COMPANY WILL PICK UP PRICE OF PART, IF WE PAY LABOR. KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL OF OUR 2009 FOR THIS SAME PART IN WHICH THE COMPANY PAID ALL.
OIL ADAPTOR/COOLER CRACKING CAUSING MASSIVE OIL LEAK IN 3.6L V6 ENGINES FOR 2014 MODELS. JEEP FORUMS ARE BUZZING WITH THIS ISSUE AND SOME OF THESE LEAKS HAVE RESULTED IN FIRES. I TOOK MINE IN AFTER SMELLING A VERY STRONG BURNING OIL SMELL (NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 1,200 MILES) AND SEEING OIL ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE. JEEP IS UNDRIVABLE IN THIS CONDITION AND PART HAS TO BE ORDERED DUE TO HIGH DEMAND. WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE BEING WIDESPREAD AND EVEN MENTIONED THAT A RECALL MAY BE COMING DOWN THE PIPELINE. THIS IS UNDERSTANDABLE BUT THE LOCAL JEEP COMPANY LOCATED IN JACKSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA ONLY HAS A NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT 5 DAYS FROM NOW ON JANUARY 11, 2016. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH US DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO THE VEHICLE THAT TRANSPORTS A CHILD WITH A BRAIN INJURY FROM A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. SO FROM OUR UNDERSTANDING WE CAN EITHER DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD POSSIBLY LOCK UP BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH OIL PRESSURE TO IT, OR , WE CAN WAIT 5 DAYS WITH NOT DRIVING OUR VEHICLE AND HAVE THE MALFUNCTION CORRECTED. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I DEAL WITH IS NOT CAPABLE OF FIGURING OUT WHY THIS IS DOING IT AND SAYS ITS NORMAL - BUT IT CAN NOT BE NORMAL FOR THAT KIND OF INCIDENT TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME LIKE THAT - AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE ONLY FIX IS GOING TO BE HOURS OF TRYING TO DIAGNOSE AND PARTS THAT COULD GET UP INTO THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS - BUT I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS JEEP AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE MY EXPENSE TO HAVE TO COVER SINCE THEY KNOW IT'S BEEN HAPPENING - BUT CAN'T FIND A FIX FOR IT

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE REPLACING THE BRAKES, HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A HIGH PRESSURE OIL LEAK COMING FROM THE OIL FILTER HOUSING AND AS A RESULT, IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP WRANGLER SPORT 2014 WITH LESS THAN 9000 MILES ON IT, DROVE FROM FL TO CO TWICE. SECOND TIME I GOT TO CO, CAR STARTED LEAKING OIL AND HASN'T STOPPED SINCE (6+ MONTHS). ALSO, WHEN I ACCELERATE SOMETHING SMELLS LIKE IT'S BURNING. OIL LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF.
WE HAD NOTICED AN OIL LEAK WHICH WAS CAUSING SMOKE & TERRIBLE SMELL. LUCKILY NO FIRE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WE PURCHASED IT FROM, AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR CITING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ELSEWHERE, THEREFORE IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. WE HAD IT REMOVED FROM THERE AND TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER, WHO ACKNOWLEDGED SAID PROBLEM AND REPAIRED THE JEEP UNDER WARRANTY. (DEFECTIVE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY). THIS APPEARS TO BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS IS A 2014 VEHICLE, THE COMPLAINTS SEEM TO BE EXCESSIVE. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM DELIBERATELY TRIED TO BLAME SOMEONE ELSE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUGHT ON FIRE. WE ARE LUCKY. DOCUMENTATION, REPAIR INVOICES TO FOLLOW IF NEEDED.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL DOWNSHIFT TO 2 OR 3 AND NOT UP SHIFT. REQUIRES STOPPING VEHICLE, TURNING OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTING TO RETURN TO NORMAN OPERATION. THIS HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN 1 DAY ON 400 MILE TRIP. HAPPENED WHILE PASSING 18 WHEELER ON A 2 LANE ROAD. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE. 3 VIDEOS WERE PROVIDED TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOWING THE OCCURRENCE. DOES NOT SET ANY CODES.
THE ABS, STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION LIGHTS KEEP GOING OFF AND ALSO DISABLING THE SPEED CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. SO FAR JEEP HAS REPLACED THE ABS SENSORS AND THE STABILITY SENSOR TWICE. THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN, USUALLY GOING OFF ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE JEEP ALSO HAD THE COMPUTER SYSTEM SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE WITH A SECURITY ALERT THAT NEED A COMPUTER UPDATE A FEW MONTHS PRIOR.
OIL FILTER HOUSING/COOLER LEAK BREAKS ON NUMEROUS LOW MILEAGE WRANGLERS, MOSTLY ON OR BEFORE 25,000 MILES. MINE WAS AT 21,000 MILES WHEN IT CRACK AND LEAKED PROFUSELY. THIS LEAKS SPREAD QUICKLY AND MOTOR OIL WAS GATHERING ON THE EXHAUST PIPE UNDER THE ENGINE BAY. THIS CREATED SMOKE FROM THE BURNING OIL WHICH COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND THE ISSUE QUICKLY AND DIAGNOSE IT. THIS ALSO IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE, HAVING FLUIDS ESPECIALLY ENGINE OIL, LEAK ONTO ROADWAYS OR OTHER DRIVING SURFACES. JEEP HAS YET TO FORMALLY ADMIT TO THIS ISSUE, THOSE SEVERAL IF NOT ALL DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE IN THE 2014 YEAR MODEL. CHEROKEE OWNERS ARE ALSO REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE, AND COME TO FIND OUT THE WRANGLER AND CHEROKEE SHARE THIS SAME EXACT PART. JEEP HAS FOCUSED ON CUTTING PRODUCTIONS COSTS RATHER THAN SAFETY. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED TO JEEP AND CHRYSLER IMMEDIATELY.
NOTICED A BURNING OIL SMELL AND TRACED DOWN THE SOURCE AS A CRACKED OIL FILTER ADAPTOR. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY EXAMINED THE PART AND VERIFIED THAT WAS THE SOURCE OF THE OIL LEAK.
OBSERVED OIL LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK ON THE TOP PART OF THE ENGINE AROUND THE OIL FILTER. THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A CRACK IN THE OIL COOLER HOUSING AND OIL WAS COVERING THE TOP PART OF THE ENGINE AND RUNNING DOWN ON TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE EXHAUST. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 9516 MI ON IT SO I DECIDED TO CHECK ON LINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH 2014 WRANGLER. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE AT LEASE 50 OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE IS JUST NOT AN INCONVENIENCE BUT A SAFETY HAZARD AS WELL BECAUSE OIL ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND THE EXHAUST IS A FIRE HAZARD. THIS LEAK OCCURRED BOTH WHITE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND SITTING STILL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALER.
CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY FOR 5 DAYS AND UPON RETURN I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE BELL HOUSING. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS ROUGHLY 20,000 MILES ON IT SO I SUSPECTED A REAR MAIN SEAL ISSUE. UPON INSPECTION BY MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP IT WAS FOUND TO BE A CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD LEAVE DRIVERS STRANDED AND COULD POSE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS.
AFTER BEING PARKED FOR THREE DAYS, AN LOUD NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE NOISE TO STOP WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE JEEP WAS TOWED IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TOALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WAS FAULTY, AND CAUSED POWER TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID PUMP UNTIL IT FAILED. THE TIPM WAS REPLACED (FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS JEEP) AS WAS THE PUMP.
WHEN PUMPING GAS, THE FILL TANK WILL FILL UP AND OVERFLOW, CAUSING GAS TO SPILL OUT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. THE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 60,000 MILES. EVERY OTHER JEEP MODEL HAS HAD THIS FUEL FILTER RECALLED, EXCEPT THE NEWER WRANGLER. GAS PUMPING TAKE OVER 10 MINUTES TO FILL OVERTIME. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY CHARGED ME $90 TO TELL ME THE FILTER NEED REPLACING AND WOULD LIKE ANOTHER $89 TO DO SO.
