I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 5 KMS. AND IT STARTED SMOKING AND WENT UP IN FLAMES. HAVE 11,000 KMS ON IT. VERY LOW FOR A 2014. ALL CHECK UPS AND OIL CHANGES TO DATE BY DEALERSHIP.
AUGUST 14 2014 I BUY THE JEEP IN NOV 11 I TOKE THE JEEP FOR OVER HEED THEY TEST AND TOLD ME NOTHING WAS FOUND ON SET 5 THE JEEP OVER HEED AGAIN I TAKE TO THE DEALER AGAIN THEY TELL ME NOTHING WAS FOUND I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG BECAUSE FOR NO REASONED MY RADIATOR BECOME EMPTY PLEASE HELP. I WANT A NEW 2014 JEEP WITH OUT ANY PROBLEM CHECK YOUR RECORD FOR RECALL ON THE ENGINE
WENT TO START CAR FROM OFF POSITION. ENGINE STARTS AND STALLS. DOES THIS 3 TIMES UNTIL IT DOESN'T START ANYMORE.
INCIDENT 1.) ON AUGUST 17TH, 2015 AROUND 8:00 PM I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE GSP TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PULLING SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT MY CARPET HAD BEEN STUCK BUT I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. BEING I HAD A MANUAL SHIFT, I IMMEDIATELY WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. IN DOING SO, THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING HIGH THUS MAKING A LOUD ENGINE SOUND (I DID NOT GET TO SEE THE ACTUAL RPM.) I BEGAN KICKING THE SIDE OF THE GAS PEDAL WHILE TRYING TO PULL SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. EVENTUALLY THE CAR JUST WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THIS WHOLE PROCESS MAY HAVE BEEN ABOUT TWENTY TO THIRTY SECONDS LONG. INCIDENT 2.) ON AUGUST 18TH, 2015 AROUND 6:20 AM (NOT EVEN 12 HOURS FROM THE FIRST INCIDENT ABOVE) I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE GSP TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70- 75 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY BRAKED HARD AS IF IT WAS A 'BRAKE CHECK' AND THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT LIT AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS LIKE I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES ONLY THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR. I QUICKLY LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW THE CAR BEHIND ME SHOOT INTO THE ADJACENT LANE TO MY RIGHT IN AVOIDANCE OF A COLLISION WITH MY REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED QUICKLY AND HARSHLY AND THEN IT WAS OVER. I MOVED INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND CONTINUED TO WORK WITH CAUTION. I CALLED MY LOCAL JEEP SERVICE CENTER AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. THEY WERE GOING TO SCHEDULE ME FOR THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT OF AUGUST 31ST 2015 BUT I STRESSED THAT THIS WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AS IT WAS A POTENTIAL SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. I WAS DIRECTED TO BRING IT IN TOMORROW 8-19-15 IN THE MORNING.
MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT LOW SPEED, VEHICLE KEPT TURNING (DRIFTING) RIGHT, ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT TO THE LEFT WITH NO RESPONSE, VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A BARRIER POST. JEEP SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT FRONT SUSPENSION DAMAGE, RIGHT FENDER AND RIGHT WHEEL. AT TIME OF ESTIMATE, REPAIR SHOP HAD FOUND THAT THE STEERING BOX HAD SHEARED AND STATED THAT THE IMPACT SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THIS DAMAGE. THEY ARE INVESTIGATING AND WILL KNOW MORE WHEN THEY BEGIN TEAR DOWN.
OIL LEAK AT THE TOP OF THE MOTOR, VERY COMMON AND SEEMS TO NOT BE GETTING FIXED AND COULD CAUSE ISSUE STRANDING OWNERS OR WITH POTENTIAL FIRE. PART NUMBER THAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE IS 68105583. HAS BEEN FIXED BUT NOT SURE WHEN IT WILL FAIL AGAIN AND NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY OR CAUSE ME TO BE STRANDED INT HE BACK COUNTRY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLOORBOARD BEHIND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BECAME EXTREMELY HOT AND EXPERIENCED MELTING AND SOOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
THE ENGINE, STABILITY, BATTERY, AND SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS INCLUDING WILL COME ON AND THE NEEDLE SHOWING THE RPM WILL FALL TO ZERO. THE RADIO WILL ALSO SHUT OFF. THEN ABOUT 3 SECONDS THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF , RPM NEEDLE WILL POSITION ITSELF BACK TO WERE IT WAS AND THE RADIO WILL COME ON. THE PROBLEM I HAVE DESCRIBED HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND EACH TIME IS NOT THE SAME. SOMETIMES THE RADIO GOES OFF AND THEN COME BACK ON. OTHER TIMES THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON AND GO OFF. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY ( NO PARTICULAR TIME, SPEED, WEATHER CONDITIONS, ETC.)

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND SENT A SPECIALIST TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
COOLENT ELBOW WITH THERMOSTAT TENDS TO DEVELOP A SMALL LEAK , LEAKING COULD RESULT IN A ENGIN SEIZURE OR BEING STRANDED ON HIGHWAY/OFF ROAD NOT SIRE IF THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE OR ISOLATED
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THERE WAS A MAJOR OIL LEAK. I HAD TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHERE THE OIL LEAK WAS. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL ADAPTOR AND THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE PART. *TR
I HAD A CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER THAT CAUSED A BIG OIL LEAK. *TR
WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN THE KEY THE JEEP LOST POWER TO ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. AFTER WAITING FOR A BIT THE SYSTEM "REBOOTED" AND I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND GO. HOWEVER, THIS KEEPS HAPPENING SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY AND SOMETIMES ONCE PER WEEK. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND THEY UPDATED THE WCM SOFTWARE TO VERSION 0.20 AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. WE HAVE ALSO HAD EPISODES OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SPUTTER, INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES DARK, RADIO SHUTS OFF, AC FANS SHUT OFF, ETC.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AND NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, I ACCIDENTALLY BUMPED THE KEYS OF MY JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WITH MY KNEE, AND THE KEY TURNED COUNTER-CLOCKWISE ENOUGH TO TURN THE CAR OFF. OBVIOUSLY, WHEN THE CAR TURNED OFF, THE BRAKES AND STEERING LOST POWER. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME, AND I WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND RE-START MY CAR. MY VEHICLE IS MANUAL, SO I COULD HAVE RESTARTED FROM NEUTRAL, BUT BASED ON DISCUSSION BOARDS, AUTOMATICS DO NOT HAVE THAT LUXURY. DOING A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "JEEP BUMP KEY" YIELDS MANY DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THAT JEEP CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN COMMANDERS AND GRAND CHEROKEES, BUT THERE IS NOTHING FOR WRANGLERS. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY WILL NOT DIAGNOSE OR REPLACE ANYTHING FOR FREE WITHOUT AN ACTIVE RECALL. I AM 6' AND DO NOT SIT EXCESSIVELY CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. MY KEY CHAIN IS NOT LARGE OR CLUTTERED, AND IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT EASY TO TURN OFF MY WRANGLER ACCIDENTALLY. *TR
PURCHASED VEHICLE 3/31/15. PUT 400 MILES ON VEHICLE AND NOTICED BURNING OIL SMELL. CHECKED UNDERNEATH AND NOTICED SIGNIFICANT OIL LEAK ALL AROUND ENGINE COMING FROM THE UPPER PART OF ENGINE. TOOK INTO SHOP AND THEY DIAGNOSED PROBLEM OF THE OIL FILTER ADAPTOR PART#68105583AA BEING CRACKED AND OIL PUMPING OUT OF IT. THEY CALLED DEALERSHIP(DEWAYNE LANE) IN WA AND THEY ADVISED THEY "HAD PLENTY OF THOSE PARTS". MECHANIC THEN SAID, "OH! IT'S A RECALL THEN." DEALER THEN STATED, "AHHHHHHH....NO-BUT WE SURE REPLACE A LOT OF THOSE." *TR
EASTER SUNDAY MORNING DROVE FROM COUNTRY HOME 7 MILES INTO TOWN TO CHURCH, NO STOPPING AND SLOWING DOWN JUST A COUPLE OF TIMES. PARKED, LOCKED VEHICLE AND WALKED INTO CHURCH LOBBY. STOPPED TO SPEAK TO A MAN WHEN HE NOTICED BLACK SMOKE IN THE PARKING LOT. TURNED AND SAW THAT IT WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY JEEP. WITHIN A MINUTE FLAMES STARTED. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND RESPONDED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, BUT NOT BEFORE FLAMES FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE JUMPED ONTO THE CAR PARKED NEXT TO THE JEEP. BOTH VEHICLES WERE BURNED UP AND TOTALED. FLAMES STARTED ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE (PASSENGER). *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE, A DRIVER IN THE RIGHT LANE BEGAN TO CHANGE LANES AND NEARLY SIDESWIPED ME. I WENT TO HONK MY HORN, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC - I HAD TO MOVE INTO THAT LANE TO AVOID BEING HIT UNTIL THE OTHER DRIVER NOTICED ME. I CHECKED BOTH FUSES (APPARENTLY THERE IS A LEFT AND RIGHT HORN FUSE) AND BOTH LOOKED FINE. THE VEHICLE IS BACK IN THE SHOP AGAIN. IT HAS ALREADY HAD THE TIPM MODULE REPLACED TWICE (NOVEMBER 2014 AND MARCH 2015) SO IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME IF IT'S GOING TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED YET AGAIN. *TR
I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL A FEW NIGHTS AGO BEFORE NOTICING AN OIL SPILL IN MY GARAGE. I LOOKED UNDER THE HELP AND SAW OIL EVERYWHERE! I WASN'T SURE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. IT LOOKED LIKE MAYBE A SEAL BUSTED FROM THE OIL PAN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THERE IS OIL ALL OVER THE REAR OF THE ENGINE,I FEEL IT WILL EVENTUALLY START A FIRE! THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED SINCE THERE ARE MANY WRANGLERS AND OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME PART, HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! *TR
CRACKED OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING CAUSING OIL LEAK AND BURNING OIL AT TOP OF MOTOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE BY LIFTING THE VEHICLE WITH THE JACK, THE JACK FELL OVER AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FALL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A HAND INJURY DUE TO THE FAILURE THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S HAND HAD TO BE AMPUTATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 6/25/15*CN
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. The check engine warning light was illuminated intermittently, and the infotainment system failed to turn on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the oil sensor pressure circuit was replaced due to an internal short in the oil-sending unit. Additionally, the PCM software was updated, and the infotainment system was replaced. The contact also stated that the fuel gauge provided inaccurate readings and would not read that the fuel tank was full. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for fuel gauge failure. The dealer performed a PCM software update for fuel sender recalibration and replaced the fuel pump module. The contact stated that the traction control warning light illuminated intermittently, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced an unknown sensor. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an electrical draw, and the battery was replaced four times. The vehicle was taken to the second dealer McCord's - Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (990 Tennant Way, Longview, WA 98632) where it was diagnosed that the electrical draw was due to a failure of the instrument cluster electrical wiring or a failure of the electrical wiring underneath the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
NOTICED OIL IN THE GARAGE AFTER FINALLY BEING ABLE TO PARK INSIDE. CALLED JEEP DEALERSHIP IN NIAGARA FALLS, NY BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO SCHEDULE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR 5 DAYS. THE SNOW/ICE IN THE DRIVEWAY MELTED AND I DISCOVERED OIL STAINS ON THE CEMENT PAD WHERE I HAD BEEN PARKING. I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN BATAVIA, NY TODAY AND THEY CALLED WITH THE BAD NEWS OF A CRACKED OIL COOLER SPRAYING OIL ALL DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. ISN'T THIS A FIRE HAZARD. THEY HAVE REPLACED 4 ON OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE THIS YEAR (2015) ALREADY. THEE SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH A PROPER REPLACEMENT. THE CURRENT REPLACEMENT IS OEM STOCK. *TR
AT AROUND 3:45 AM, WHILE I WAS SLEEPING, THE HORN ON STARTED INTERMITTENTLY BLARING. I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND THE REVERSE LIGHTS WERE ON (AT FULL BRIGHTNESS). FOR THE NEXT HOUR, IT WOULD START AND STOP RANDOMLY. I FINALLY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY IN FRUSTRATION. EARLIER THE PREVIOUS EVENING, THE HEADLIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I HAD NOT USED THE JEEP FOR THE PREVIOUS TWO DAYS. THIS ISSUE IS CLEARLY RELATED TO THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE IN THIS VEHICLE (WHICH HAD CAUSED THE JEEP TO STALL -- AND COMPLETELY DIE -- SEVERAL TIMES). I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT HAS ALREADY COST SOME PEOPLE THEIR LIVES. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS AND FORCE JEEP TO DO A RECALL. *TR
2014 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE PEDAL SYSTEM ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED GEAR/CLUTCH SYSTEM, PEDAL DROPPED AND LOST POWER PRESSURE. THE CLUTCH MADE A CREAKING NOISE. THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, IT CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE, WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE. *JB
OIL HOUSING COOLER WAS APPARENTLY CRACKED AND LEAKING OIL ONTO MY ENGINE. THE CEL CAME ON AND VEHICLE ITSELF GAVE NO ERROR CODES. MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. PROBABLY PUT 40 MILES ON IT IN BETWEEN NOT NOTICING OIL LOSS BEING PARKED ON THE STREET. SPOUSE NOTICED LOSS OF ACCELERATION DURING TRIP HOME FROM WORK. JEEP DIDN'T SEEM TO BE RUNNING ANY DIFFERENT SO DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I DON'T KNOW HOW LOW MY OIL PRESSURE WAS AND IF IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. DID NOTICE A GOOD AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE GROUND AFTER THE FACT.
CURSE CONTROL DISENGAGED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL RESET ALL PROGRAMS, STORED INFORMATION, THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO START ON OCCASIONS.
THE JEEP IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. IT WAS HANDLING VERY POORLY ON THE ROAD SO I TOOK IT TO HAVE IT CHECKED. JEEP CONSIDERS THESE WEAR ITEMS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY SHOP SAID THE ONE'S ON JEEP ARE JUNK AND THEY HAVE SEEN FAILURES AS LOW AS 326 MILES! MY DODGE TRUCK HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE AT 75K MILES AND DODGE REPLACED THE WHOLE FRONT END. NOT JEEP. IF YOU SEARCH THE WEBSITES YOU WILL FIND THE CONCLUSION IS THAT THE PARTS JEEP USES ARE JUNK. I REPLACED THEM WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS FROM MOOG WHICH HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY. I WAS NOT GOING TO RISK MY FAMILY BY INSTALLING CHEAP DANGEROUS FACTORY PARTS. MY COST WAS $1600 TO FIX A NEW TRUCK! NO WONDER JEEP IS RATED THE SECOND WORSE VEHICLE MADE NEXT TO FIAT! THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT MOST CONSUMERS ARE UNAWARE OF. I THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE AT FIRST. WHEN THEY SHOWED ME THE PARTS, WHICH I STILL HAVE, THERE IS ZERO RESISTANCE IN 3 OF THE 4 BALL JOINTS. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE THEM WITH YOUR HARD. THEY ARE LIKE A PENCIL IN A CUP OF WATER. AMAZING THEY WOULD RISK THERE CUSTOMERS LIVES WITH SUCH GARBAGE PARTS ON A NEW 40K VEHICLE! BURNING SMELL, OIL SPOTS AND PUDDLES UNDER VEHICLE. DEALER DIAGNOSED OIL LEAK COMING FROM CRACKED OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING. PART IS DEFECTIVE AND ALLOWS SIGNIFICANT AND DANGEROUS AMOUNTS OF OIL TO COLLECT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TECHNICIAN FOUND VALLEY OF ENGINE FULL OF OIL, UNDER VEHICLE, ON TRANSMISSION AND OIL ACCUMULATED IN THE SKID PLATES UNDER THE VEHICLE. OIL ACCUMULATION POSES SIGNIFICANT DANGER AND FIRE HAZARD WITH POTENTIAL SERIOUS DAMAGE TO VEHICLE ENGINE AND ITS OCCUPANTS IN THE EVENT OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE DUE TO ACCUMULATED OIL IN THE ENGINE VALLEY. CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER AND SERVICE MANAGER ACKNOWLEDGED PART IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. PART WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER REPORTED THEY ARE SEEING 2014 VEHICLES COME IN WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I HAVE A 2014 WRANGLER JK WITH 10,900 MILES AND I HAVE A 5 MILE DRIVE TO WORK. TWO DAYS AGO, JANUARY 14, 2015 AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE, I SMELL BURNT OIL. I LIFTED THE HOOD, I DON'T SEE ANYTHING LIKE OIL. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH FOR A DRIP OR PUDDLE, BUT I SAW NOTHING. AS I LEFT WORK LATER THAT AFTERNOON, I LOOKED UNDER THE JEEP AND THERE APPEARED TO BE A SLIGHT PUDDLE OF LEAKING OIL. I DROVE 5 MILES HOME. AFTER I GOT THERE, I OBSERVED A GOOD SIZED OIL PUDDLE ON THE DRIVEWAY MIDWAY UNDER JEEP WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST! I HAD JEEP TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND I WAS I JUST ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE OIL COOLER/ADAPTER HOUSING. I HAD 10,900 MILES ON ODOMETER WHEN IT OCCURRED. I HOPE CHRYSLER ENGINEERS A REPLACEMENT PART FAST! I WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL ON THE FREEWAY (JUST EAST OF SNOWVILLE, UT) AT APPROX 70 MPH (SPEED LIMIT 80), WHEN THE JEEP SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO A MUCH LOWER GEAR (1ST OR 2ND). OF COURSE WE SPUN OUT--FIRST ONE WAY, THEN THE OTHER AS I FOUGHT FOR CONTROL I EITHER GOT IT INTO NEUTRAL OR IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL ITSELF AND I REGAINED CONTROL AND GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE ROLLED THE VEHICLE OR HIT OTHER VEHICLES, AND MY WIFE SAID SHE WOULD HAVE ROLLED IT. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK ON MONDAY, WHICH I DID AND THEY KEPT IT SEVERAL DAYS BUT COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. MY WIFE WON'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT ALL NOW, AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, THOUGH IT NOW SEEMS TO BE DRIVING OK. DURING A SNOW EVENT ON JAN 3, 2015, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER (IT WAS SNOWING AND ABOUT 36 DEGREES). I COULD HEAR A CLICK COMING FROM BELOW THE FUSE BOX, BUT THEY WERE NOT WORKING SO I HAD NO VISIBILITY AND HAD TO PULL OVER. I PULLED THE FUSE FROM THE BLOCK THINK MAYBE IT SOMEHOW BECAME LOOSE AND REPLACED (WITH THE SAME) AND THE WIPERS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I CONTINUED ON WITH MY DAY. ON JAN. 6, DURING ANOTHER SNOW EVENT, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS I PULLED OUT OF A 40 DEGREE GARAGE. THIS TIME I COULD NOT GET THEM TO START WORKING SO I NEEDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A GARAGE. THIS IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND SO FAR THE EVALUATION HAS BEEN THAT THE WIPERS ARE NOW WORKING, BUT THERE IS A CODE DISPLAYED THAT THE WIPERS HAD A FAULT, BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO REPLACE. I SURE HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN I'M ON A HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH NEXT TO A TRUCK THROWING UP ROAD SALT ONTO MY WINDSHIELD. *TR
MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON REPEATEDLY. IMPLAUSIBLE DATA REPORTED FROM A MODULE THAT THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IS NOT EVEN IN THE VEHICLE. OCCASIONALLY THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ABOVE ABOUT 1800 RPM AND 15 MILES AN HOUR. AT OTHER TIMES THE RPMS WILL SURGE UP INTO THE 5000-6000 RANGE AND NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. DEALERSHIPS CLAIM THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS BUT THE SHIFTING PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. *TR
I STARTED JEEP, THE RADIO CHANNEL MYSTERIOUSLY CHANGED, DROVE APPROX 1 MILE, CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AT A BUSY MOUNTAIN INTERSECTION AND THE ENTIRE JEEP BLACKED OUT, I LOST ALL FUNCTIONS, WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED AND T BONED AT THE SAME TIME, RETURNED THE JEEP TO PARK AND RESTARTED. I TOOK THE JEEP TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T RECREATE PROBLEM, I DROVE JEEP OFF THE PROPERTY ONLY TO HAVE IT DIE AT THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT, PUT INTO PARK RESTARTED ONLY TO HAVE IT DIE AGAIN. FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO JEEP, THEY'VE HAD IT FOR A WEEK AND THEY CLAIM THEY STILL CANT FIND THE PROBLEM. I DON'T TRUST THE VEHICLE NOR DO I FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN THE MOUNTAINS WHICH IS WHERE I LIVE. ALSO NOTE, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER, SO DOES THAT MEAN THE AIRBAGS WONT DEPLOY. I HAVE A CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING THAT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL JEEP. THE LOCAL DEALER IS ABOUT 920 BACK ORDERED WHICH TELLS ME THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I AM SEEING AN ISSUE WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNINGS MAYBE 5-7 DAYS A WEEK. I OWN A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SPORT (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION), WITH A RUBICON EXPRESS LEVELING KIT, TIRE SIZE 315/17 AFTER I START THE VEHICLE WEATHER I LEAVE A MINUTE AFTER OR LET IT IDLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES IT DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. I LEAVE A MINUTE AFTER OR LET IT IDLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES MOST TIMES AND THEN I AM ON MY WAY. AFTER REACHING AN INITIAL SPEED OF 40-45 FOR THE FIRST MILE, I SLOW DOWN NORMALLY APPROACHING THE FIRST STOP (FOOT ON BRAKE). AT THIS POINT THE TACHOMETER IS DOWN BELOW THE 1500-1000 RANGE; THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHUTTER AS IF I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AS WELL. COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE TACHOMETER IS ERRATIC FROM IDLE TO THE 1500 OR SO RANGE AND THE VEHICLE IS VIBRATING AND IF I DON?T LET OFF THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE STALLS. PUTTING IT IN PARK IT STARTS NORMALLY DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY, ONCE AFTER WORK ONE NIGHT. THE WORST HAPPENED LAST WEEK WHEN I RESTARTED AND WENT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT SEEM TO STAY IN PARK AS THE RPMS WENT UP BUT DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. JEEP COMPLETELY DIED (LOST ALL POWER, INCLUDING ALL ELECTRICAL, BRAKE LIGHTS, PANEL LIGHTS, ETC) IN CONDO PARKING LOT. GOT OUT TO START PUSHING IT BACK TO PARKING SPOT, AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE DOOR CHIME STARTED AND POWER WAS RESTORED. RADIO WAS BOOTING UP FROM COLD START (SHOWING GARMIN LOGO). RESTARTED CAR, IT TURNED OVER AND STARTED NORMALLY. STARTED DRIVING FORWARD AGAIN, AND IN ABOUT 20 FEET, IT COMPLETELY DIED AGAIN IN THE SAME WAY, AND CAME BACK TO LIFE ABOUT TEN SECONDS LATER. DECIDED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART AGAIN AND REVERSE TO PARKING SPOT. JEEP WAS TOWED ON NOVEMBER 3 AND REPAIRED ON NOVEMBER 4 WHEN THE PART CAME IN. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIPM WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW VERSION THAT DIDN'T HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEMS. *TR
THE TPMS LIGHT IS ALWAYS ILLUMINATED AND THE TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT. I FOUND A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V632000) (CHRYSLER #P63) FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT WAS TOLD BY BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE NHTSA THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. IT SEEMS VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT THE EXACT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE SHOWS UP ON THE RECALL LIST, BUT NOT MY VEHICLE WHICH IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED REGARDING.
