RADIATOR WENT BAD
FOLLOWING A MANDATORY PCM FLASH RECALL, I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY '14 JEEP WRANGLER'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT UPSHIFT UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION. INSTEAD, THE ENGINE REVS TO 4K, AND IT WILL STAY IN THE GEAR. ONLY IF I LET OFF THE GAS AND ALLOW IT TO RESET, THEN GRADUALLY ACCELERATE WILL IT WORK PROPERLY. THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE, HAVING REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, PCM, AND ECU, AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS AND SENSORS. I FULLY BELIEVE THIS IS COMPUTER SOFTWARE RELATED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A POTENTIAL ISSUE. FOR THE LONGEST TIME, I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET A DTC CODE, BUT MOST RECENTLY FOUND A STORED ONE THAT APPEARS TO DIRECT THE ISSUE TO THE CAN-BUS COMMUNICATION ISSUE. ATTACHING SCREENSHOT.
I WAS JUST STARTING A DRIVE HOME WHEN SUDDENLY MY CARS "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND IT REFUSED TO GO HIGHER THAN 3RD GEAR. WITHIN MINUTES, MY ENGINE WAS STARTING TO OVERHEAT. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO COAST INTO A NEARBY AUTO REPAIR PLACE FOR THEM TO CHECK THINGS OUT. THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT MY OIL COOLING HOUSING CRACKED AND HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING THE UNDERCARRIAGE (WHICH I'M TOLD IS A FIRE HAZARD). THEY ALSO SAID IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 MODELS AND THEY'RE SHOCKED JEEP HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL ON IT. I LATER DID SOME READING AND FOUND HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THIS FAULTY PART INSTEAD OF MAKING ALL OF US PAY $750+ TO FIX IT. *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FAULTY OIL COOLERS THAT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING AND JEEP SHOULD BE FIXING THESE AS A FAULTY PART. MANY OWNERS OF THE 2014 MODELS AND POSSIBLY OTHER MODELS HAVE EXPERIENCED CRACKED OIL COOLER HOUSINGS.
I OWN A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SPORT. WENT FOR MY OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY BECAUSE IT CRACKED AND IS LEAKING OIL AND THE ENGINE OIL IS POOLING IN THE PAN. AT THE TUNE OF $1200. I WENT HOME AND FOUND THIS IS MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH HUNDREDS/ THOUSANDS HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2014 WRANGLERS. I SEE JUST A FEW WHO HAD THIS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT WITHOUT A HASSLE FROM DEALERSHIPS. MOST, LIKE MYSELF ARE TOLD IT'S NOT COVERED. 5 YEAR/ 100,000 MI. NOW 6 YEARS. I BELIEVE I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR AWHILE BUT NOW AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED IT'S BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. THE PROBLEM LIES WITH A PIECE CHANGED FROM METAL TO PLASTIC. IT CRACKED AND WILL BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER PLASTIC PIECE THAT WILL MOST LIKELY CRACK AGAIN. IF THAT'S NOT BAD ENOUGH, I SEE IT'S ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD! HOT OIL POOLED IN THE BOTTOM PAN AND ON THE ENGINE HAS CAUSED FIRES. JEEP ON THEIR OWN HASN'T MADE THE OIL COOLER CRACK A RECALL. NO SURPRISE THERE. BUT IT'S TIME THEY NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT ! LOOK AT HOW MANY HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM! PLEASE!! *TR
OIL FILTER HOUSING/COOLER SEEMS TO BE LEAKING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. I AM NOT SURE HOW LONG THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING BUT IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. *TR
FOUR MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING A USED WRANGLER UNLIMITED I GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND CODES P0205 AND P0305. UPON READING UP ON THESE CODES IT IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINE. THE INJECTOR COIL HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IN CYLINDER 5 SO MY GUESS IS THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE SAME ISSUE. IT HAS SLIGHTLY OVER 60,000 MILES ON IT AND IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER ENGINE WARRANTY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME WAS AFTER A 120 MILE DRIVE. I STOPPED FOR GAS AND WHEN I TURNED THE JEEP BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. *TR
TICKING NOISES WHEN VEHICLE IN MOTION FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING AND CITY DRIVING. LEFT CYLINDER HEAD CRACKS. *TR
Engine light on when change in oil needed @ 50%. Oil pressure fluctuates when driving 2% to 30%. Noticed oil leaks in my driveway and had it checked by mechanic. Found out it was the oil filter housing/oil cooler and that it is a common problem with 3. 6 motor also, found out the part is on back order due to a lot of customers having same issue. Found the following in my search: " ATTENTION - 2014 Wranglers have bad oil leak problems! ________________________________________ For 2014, Chrysler made a change to a part called the "oil filter adapter" which sits on top of the engine, under the intake manifold. There are now a parade of people with various Chrysler vehicles that use the 3.6L reporting that the new part cracks, causing a major oil leak, potentially a fire, and can cause your engine to be drained of all oil. If you have had an oil leak, and the dealership told you the issue was the oil filter adapter, the oil cooler or the oil cooler cover, post up here. We are going to try to get pressure on Chrysler to at least redesign the part. Part number is 68105583AA and it applies only to 2014 3.6L Chrysler V6 engines, at least so far. Similar issues have been reported with the new 3.2L V6 used in the Cherokee, but it apparently has a different part number. This is a MAJOR issue if you own a 2014 Wrangler. There is no way to know if/when the part will crack, and if it does, it is not a trail repair. The adapter is buried under the intake manifold, and ever getting to it with some putty would be nearly impossible. You had better have extra oil with you at all times if you are trail riding a 2014 Wrangler. Post here if you have the issue, and go to safercar.gov and file a complaint. If Chrysler doesn't fix this issue, you will never feel safe wheeling your 2014 Jeep in the backcountry. They need to fix this, NOW. ALL 3.6L vehicles are affected"
THE LIFTERS ARE SOUNDING AND CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO MAL FUNCTION OR STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I KNOW OF 2 OTHER PEOPLE CLOSE TO ME THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO ALSO. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WITH THE 3.6 LITER PENTASTAR ENGINE. I BOUGHT IT WITH 75K MILES. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 500 MILES, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND SAID THE REPAIRS START AT $2,200. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET PERTAINING TO THIS TICKING AND NUMEROUS VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE SHOWING HOW TO REPAIR THE LIFTER NOISE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE THE FIX.
THE PLASTIC OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES CAUSING A MAJOR ENGINE OIL LEAK FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. OIL HAS LEAKED DOWN AND SPLATTERED ALL OVER THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE CAUSING SIGNIFICANT SMOKING AND A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE ON 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES AND THE ONLY FIX IS A REPLACEMENT OF THE PART. THE MECHANIC ALSO PROVIDED HIS OPINION THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE IS A POOR DESIGN DUE TO MATERIAL DURABILITY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT ITS REGULAR INTERVALS AND HAS RECEIVED LIGHT TO MODERATE USE OVER ITS LIFETIME SO FAR WITH MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS DING WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB POYNTER CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 1873 E TIPTON ST, SEYMOUR, IN 47274, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED AS OF 05/29/20. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,000. *BF CONSUMER HAD A NEW ENGINE WITH 7,000 MILES ON IT, 184,000 MILES WAS ON THE CAR WHEN IT WAS PURCHASE. PASSENGER AIRBAG STILL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.*JB
MY VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED. OIL LEAKED ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ONTO MY GARAGE FLOOR FROM A FAULTY ENGINE OIL COOLER & INTAKE GASKET SET. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT I CAN'T AFFORD. MY MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP) FIXES THIS SAME REPAIR 2-3 TIMES A WEEK. THAT IS RIDICULOUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REIMBURSE JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS THAT HAVE A HUGE OIL SPILLS TO CLEAN UP.
THE JEEP WILL NOT START-STATIONARY. IT CRANKS OVER BUT DOES NOT START. THE JEEP IS EQUIPPED WITH A FAULTY TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE)
OIL COOLER/OIL FILTER HOUSING AND GASKETS HAVE A KNOWN DEFECT THAT CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ONTO AND INTO ENGINE COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THE RADIATOR, CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE/RAM TECHS KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT, AND THE LEAKING OIL CAN AND DOES BURN, WHICH CAN LEAD TO A TOTAL ENGINE FIRE!!! I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN I SMELLED BURNING OIL. THINKING IT WAS JUST A MINOR ISSUE THAT COULD BE FIXED WHENEVER I HAD THE FREE TIME, I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR TWO UNTIL SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE! I FINALLY TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THERE WAS WAY TOO MUCH SMOKE TO BE SAFE (FIRE?). THE TECH THAT WORKED ON MY JEEP, MIKE POLLARD, SAYS HE SEES THIS ISSUE ALL THE TIME, ADVISED ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEN FILE FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND MY JEEP ONLY HAD 43,500 MILES ON IT (WELL UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY). WELL, I DID AS HE ASKED, BUT CORPORATE CUSTOMER CARE IS USELESS, WILL NOT REACH OUT TO THE TECH AS ASKED, AND ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO NOT PAY BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL. EITHER WAY, THIS ISSUE CAN START A FIRE IF LEFT UNFIXED. JEEP KNOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, YET WILL NOT DO A RECALL UNLESS FORCED (MONEY OVER SAFETY). LOOK ONLINE AT THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS COMMON ISSUE. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO NOTICES ABOUT THIS AIRBAG RECALL. BOTH TIMES I CALLED THE SAME JEEP DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY HAD THE PART. THEY NEVER RETURNED A PHONE CALL EITHER TIME. TODAY, I CALLED A 2ND DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE FIXING THE RECALL IN A MATTER OF DAYS. OIL LEAK ONTO TRANSMISSION; SOURCE IS FROM THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING (PURSUANT TO CERTIFIED JEEP DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSIS). COST $1000 FOR REPAIR/REPLACE/FIX!
FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS, WHENEVER I ATTEMPT TO FILL MY CAR WITH GASOLINE, SHORTLY AFTER I BEGIN FUELING THE GAS COMES SPRAYING BACK AT ME. IN ORDER TO FILL MY TANK, I MUST BARELY SQUEEZE THE NOZZLE SUCH THAT THE GAS TRICKLES OUT. STILL IF I DON'T PERFECTLY STOP AND START AT THE RIGHT MOMENT IT WILL OVERFLOW. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHETHER I WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG OR IF THERE WAS A RECALL, AND THEY INFORMED ME IT IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. I WENT ONLINE AFTER TO CHECK THE WRANGLER FORUMS AND IT IS, IN FACT, A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT FOR WHICH THERE IS NO RECALL.
CRACKED "OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER." CAUSING OIL TO LEAK ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE, COULD POTENTIALLY START A FIRE.
WHEN MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER JKU IS RUNNING, THERE IS A LOUD ENGINE TICKING NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE. IT IS A LIFTER THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE CAM. THE JEEP RUNS FINE, BUT THE NOISE IS TROUBLING. IT'S A COSTLY REPAIR!
WHEN DRIVING OR STATIONARY THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND A DING FOLLOWS. IT HAPPENS NO MATTER THE SITUATION WHEN I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL.
GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK FULL THROTTLE, I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND HAD TO ACCELERATE SO I PUSHED THE PEDAL DOWN AND WHEN I LET OFF I STILL WAS ACCELERATING AND JUST AHEAD WAS STOP TRAFFIC MADE A HARD RIGHT INTO A PARKING LOT AND THROUGH THE SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL. ALL THE TIME MY FOOT WAS HEAVY ON THE BRAKE JET STILL LAUNCHING FORWARD ... WHAT A HAIR RAISING EXPERIENCE AND THE WORST THING MY WIFE THOUGHT I WAS DOING THAT ON PURPOSE:)*DT *TP
OIL COOLING FILTER HOUSING CRACKING/LEAKING ON 2014 MODEL WRANGLER JKU. EEP HAS A KNOWN EPIC FAILURE IS DESIGN FLAW IN ITS 2014 WRANGLER WHEN IT SWITCHED FROM A METAL OIL FILTER COOLER HOUSING TO A PLASTIC OIL FILTER COOLER HOUSING. HUNDREDS OF CASES OF THE PART BREAKING/LEAKING OIL ALL OVER LOWER ENGINE AND EXHAUST WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD

OIL ADAPTER HOUSING CRACKED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 6 MONTHS. 1ST TIME CAUSED EXTERNAL LEAK AND IT WAS REPLACED.THIS TIME CRACKED AGAIN BUT INTERNALLY CAUSING OIL TO LEAK INTO COOLANT. CAUSED $3200 WORTH OF DAMAGE AND HAD TO HAVE COOLANT SYSTEM REPLACED AS WELL AS HEATER COIL AND HOSES. I KNOW OF 7 OTHER JEEP WRANGLERS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO RECENTLY.
MY OIL FILTER COVER CRACKED AND IS CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DOWN ONTO MY TRANSMISSION
OIL COOLER FAILED AND CAUSED COMPLETE DISSPURSMENT OF OIL WHILE DRIVING. OIL LEAKED ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE AND REAR OF VEHICLE. THIS COULD CASUE AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE IN THE ENGINE BAY. REPLACED IN OCTOBER 2019. WORKED TILL FEB 2020 NOW IT IS LOEAKING AND THE RESERVOIR FOR OIL COOLER IS SHOWING POOLING... AGAIN. THIS PART IS MADE OF CHEAP NON HEAT MANAGABLE MATERIALS. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THIS REPLACEMENT IS NOT CHEAP OR AN EASY TASK.
THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON A REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK. MY VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO 150K MILES ITS BARELY AT 90K AND ALREADY HAVING A LEAK ISSUE. I WAS READING ONLINE THAT CERTAIN JEEPS RIGHT AT 16K WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS COSTLY AND IT IS EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE THAT MY VEHICLE GOES FROM BEING GOOD TO DRIVE TO HEY NOW YOU HAVE A REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK AND IT WILL COST YOU AROUND 850 PLUS DOLLARS. IT LEAKED OIL IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO CLEAR THAT UP.
EACH DOOR HAS A LEAK. EVERY TIME IT RAINS WATER ENTERS THE JEEP. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SEALS ARE DEFECTIVE BUT ALL FOUR DOORS SEALS NEED TO BE REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM 12430 AUTO DR, CLARKSVILLE, MD 21029 (410) 988-8100 WHERE DIAGNOSED THE OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
JEEP STARTED LEAKING OIL AT 57000 MILES OIL LEAK WAS DUE TO A KNOWN PART FAILURE THE OIL HOUSING WHICH IS PLASTIC AND CAN EASILY CRACK. VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT. OIL HOUSING LOCATED UNDER MANIFOLD, OIL LEAK CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE WHEN IT SPLATTERS ON MANIFOLD. JEEP KNOWS THIS PART CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME.
OIL FILTER ADAPTER COOLER ON TOP OF THE ENGINE, LEAKING, FILLING THE VALLEY WITH 2 INCHES OF OIL IN SOME PLACES. COULD CAUSE FIRE AND OIL SPILLING OVER THE EXHAUST. OIL RUNS DOWN THE BELL HOUSING DOWN THE TRANSMISSION AND ACROSS THE CROSSMEMBER. WHEN YOU STOP YOU CAN SMELL BITING OIL, DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
FRONT AXLE LEAKING SEALS ON BOTH SIDES ARE BAD, PAYED . $1100.00 TO GET IT FIX . 4 MONTHS LATER REAR AXLE SEALS NEED REPLACING . FRONT AN BACK LEAKED FLUIDS TO MY BRAKES WHICH SLIPPED THROUGH STOPPING DISTANCE. KNOW ANOTHER $1100.00. BRAKE PADS IN FRONT AND BACK STILL NEW WHEN CAR BOUGHT . MECHANICS CAN'T BELIEVE IT, BAD PARTS FROM FACTORY.
OIL COOLER HOUSING IS MADE WITH 2 TYPES OF MATERIAL THAT DOESN'T HAVE EQUAL CONTROL OF OIL EXPANSION WHEN IT IS HOT, THEREFORE HAVING TO REPLACE A OIL COOLER HOUSING BECAUSE OF THE PLASTIC PART OF IT CRACKED RESULTING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE KIT. I HAD TO REPLACE IT 3 TIMES, BUT ONLY PAID ONCE OF THE REPLACEMENT COST. THE OTHER 2 WERE UNDER WARRANTY. I'VE RESEARCHED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP PART, PARTICULARLY WITH THE OIL COOLER HOUSING KIT. METAL AND PLASTIC SHOULD NOT BE A COMPLETE KIT TO CONTROL THE OIL FLOW. HEAT REACTIONS ARE NOT THE SAME.
IN 2014 MOPAR STARTED USING A PLASTIC OIL FILER / COOLER HOUSING ON THE 3.6 PENSTAR ENGINES. THIS PLASTIC OIL FILER/COOLER HOUSING IS EASY TO CRACK OR DEVELOP OIL LEAKS. THE OIL THEN PUDDLES UP UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD LAYING AGAINST THE HOT ENGINE BLOCK. IT APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY DESIGN THAT COULD RESULT IN ENGINE FIRES OR BREAKDOWNS FROM LOSS OF OIL. THIS IS USED ON LOTS OF DIFFERENT MODELS OF VEHICLES. MINE IS THE 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THE OIL LEAKS ANYTIME THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. AFTER THE ENGINE VALLEY IS FULL THE OIL RUNS DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AND FALLS ON THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING AND EXHAUST PIPE CAUSING BURNING OIL SMELL AND POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. MOPAR SHOULD REPLACE THESE ON ALL VEHICLES AFTER THE 2014 YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ODOR OF BURNING OIL WAS PRESENT. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ENGINE OIL HAD LEAKED ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT OIL COOLER FILTER ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER NESTER JEEP LOCATED AT 7566 W HOUGHTON LAKE DR, HOUGHTON LAKE, MI 48629 CONTACTED REGARDING THE FAILURE.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT YET NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
WHILE DRIVING I OBSERVED SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM MY VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH THE ODOR OF BURNING OIL. I WAS JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM MY HOUSE SO AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY I LOOKED UNDER MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED OIL DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE ENGINE ON TO THE EXHAUST PIPE. I AM AWARE THAT 2014 JEEP WRANGLERS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKING OVER TIME. I OPENED MY HOOD AND LOOKED AT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING AND THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE MOTOR. I WENT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS YEAR WRANGLER HAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS AND THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS THAT MOPAR HAS NOT BEEN CALLED ON THE CARPET FOR A FIRE HAZARD LIKE THIS AND THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS PART. I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD BE ROUGHLY $600. COULD YOU HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND WHAT APPROPRIATE ACTION I CAN TAKE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT. NOT TO MENTION MY DRIVEWAY IS A MESS :(
HI I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE ACCELERATED GOT STUCK WHILE DRIVING FOR A FEW SECONDS . I APPLIED THE BREAK BUT ACCELERATED KEPT ON GIVING THE ENGINE GAS WHEN I RELEASE THE BREAK THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE FORWARD AND FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 10SECONDS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WENT BACK TO NORMAL . THERE WAS A LIGHTING VOLT THAT CAME ON ON THE DASHBOARD AS A ISSUE AND THE LIGHT DISAPPEARED WHEN THE ACCELERATION PETAL CAME BACK UP .
MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS ARE NO LONGER WORKING. THIS INCLUDES THE HORN, CHANNEL AND VOLUME CONTROL. THEY WILL WORK WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED 45DEG FROM TOP DEAD CENTER. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY THE "CLOCK" SPRING ASSEMBLY BEHIND THE AIR BAG. JEEP CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL OUT FOR RHD WRANGLERS AND THEIR CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY. I BELIEVE THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE LHD (LEFT HAND DRIVE) MODELS AS WELL. I AM TAKING THIS TO THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. NOTE THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT.
THE OIL FILTER/COOLER HOUSING IS KNOWN TO LEAK ALLOWING OIL TO RUN DOWN ENGINE ONTO EXHAUST CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD.
SAME AS ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S COMPLAINTS AND I'M VERY SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS SUCH AN ON GOING PROBLEM, MY OIL COOLER IS LEAKING ONCE AGAIN ON MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER JK AND I'VE ALREADY SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND NOW GOING THROUGH THIS ONCE AGAIN IT IS STRAIGHT BULL CRAP. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AND NOTICED A TON OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH MY HOOD AND I THOUGH NO WAY NOT AGAIN BUT TO MY SURPRISE I WAS RIGHT OIL WAS SITTING IN THE VALLEY RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE BLACK OIL RESERVOIR. I OWN A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER JK WITH 47800 MILES. THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HAS FAILED AND COVERED DRIVEWAY WITH OIL. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY CHOOSE NOT TO FIX. DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE
ON 3 OF THE 4 WHEELS, THE OEM CALIBER MOUNTAIN BOLTS BACK OUT OF THE CALIBERS. SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSING THE CALIBERS TO COME OFF OF THE ROTOR AND WEDGE INSIDE OF THE WHEELS DESTROYING THE WHEELS AND CAUSING DANGEROUS FLAT TIRES WHILE DRIVING
WHILE SITTING AT AN INTERSECTION, WE COULD SMELL BURNING OIL AND SMOKE. GOT THE JEEP HOME AND FOUND A STEADY DRIP OF OIL AROUND BELL HOUSING. FOUND THAT ENGINE VALLEY IS OVERFLOWING WITH OIL, OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING FAILURE AND CAUSING OIL TO LEAK ONTO HOT ENGINE CREATING INTENSE SMOKE. FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON CHRYSLER/JEEP 3.6 LITER PENTASTAR ENGINES AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. THE REPAIR FOR THIS COMMON ENVIRONMENTAL FIRE HAZARD IS COSTLY. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL?
I RECENTLY HAD A CHANGE OIL INDICATOR GO OFF, EARLIER THAN ANTICIPATED. WHILE PERFORMING THE OIL CHANGE, I REALIZED THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANSMISSION. I CLEANED UP AND PERFORMED THE OIL CHANGE. TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME THING. FRESH OIL EVERYWHERE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH AND A TRIP TO THE DEALER, THE CONCLUSION WAS A BAD OIL FILTER ADAPTER ASSEMBLY. THIS IS BEYOND COMMON ON A 2014 WRANGLER. INSANE THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART. COME ON JEEP, GET IT TOGETHER AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I LOVE MY JEEP. BUT RIGHT IS RIGHT. THIS IS BEYOND A BIG FIRE CONCERN!!!!
OIL COOLER HAD A MAJOR LEAK OIL ON TOP OF ENGINE WAS EASILY A QUART. REST OF THE OIL HAD TRAVELED DOWN THE TRANSMISSION AND COVERED ALMOST THE ENTIRETY OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND EXHAUST. I NOTICED THE LEAK BY A STRONG SMOKEY OIL ODOR AS THE OIL HIT THE EXHAUST. THE OIL COOLER WAS REPLACED AND MUST HAVE ALSO CAUSED A LEAK IN THE COOLANT BECAUSE THE RESERVOIR WAS NEAR EMPTY. WAITING TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE COOLANT LEAK.
VEHICLE SHOWING CEL (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) WITH NO PERFORMANCE ISSUES NOTED. CODE READ AND SHOWS P0520 RELATED TO THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR SWITCH. AFTER REVIEWING FORUMS, DETERMINED THAT A TSB EXISTS BUT NO RECALL ALTHOUGH THE DESIGN OF THE UNIT HAS BEEN CHANGED DUE TO DEFECT. REPLACING THIS UNIT TOOK A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT AS A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE TOP HALF OF THE MOTOR HAS TO BE REMOVED TO REVEAL THE SENSOR. REPLACED AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN OPERATING FREE OF THE CEL SINCE THAT TIME AND ACCURATE OIL PRESSURE READINGS ARE BEING RECEIVED. WITHOUT THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE CANNOT PASS A NYS SAFETY INSPECTION AND FEATURES OF THE VEHICLE ARE DISABLED.
OIL COOLER / FILTER HOUSING IS LEAKING OIL DOWN TRANSMISSION AN ONTO THE EXHAUST. CAUSED SMOKE AND NAUSEOUS FUMES TO ENTER THE CABIN. FIRE HAZARD!!!! NOTICED THE FUMES WHILE DRIVING. INSPECTED THE UNDERCARRIAGE A FOUND OIL LEAKING DOWN TRANSMISSION ONTO THE EXHAUST. INSPECTED ENGINE BAY AND FOUND THE OIL POOLING AROUND THE OIL FILTER/COOLER HOUSING.
WHILE DRIVING, AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN 20MPH OR MAYBE 10MINS OF DRIVING. LIGHT WILL GO OFF WHEN STOPPED. AND WILL RETURN AGAIN AT 20MPH OR 10MORE MIN OF DRIVING. IT WILL OCCASIONALLY STAY ON.
