TAKATA RECALL - TRYING TO GET A RECALL OF AIRBAG ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF AT DEALER AND AM TOLD TO KEEP CALLING THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN THEY WILL GET PARTS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS RECALL OF PASSENGER AIRBAG AND HAS BEEN SINCE JANUARY. MY SON HAS TO TRAVEL 800 MILES AUGUST 10TH AND NOW FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE. FYI... I RECEIVED LETTER FROM DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE IN NYS TO NOTIFY US, NOT FROM MANUFACTURER.
UPON STARTUP, IN PARK AND STATIONARY, ENGINE REVS TO 4000-5000 RPM, TURN IGNITION TO OFF AND RESTART, ENGINE REVS TO 4000-5000 RPM, TURN IGNITION TO OFF, WAIT 30 SECONDS RESTART EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE. BOUGHT NEW IN 2014, HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V018000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED SAM LEMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF PEORIA (1801 W PIONEER PKWY, PEORIA, IL 61615, (309) 692-1801) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
HOOD LATCHES WOULD FLEX SO BAD THE HOOD WOULD FLUTTER AND ACT AS THOUGH IT WAS FIXING TO FLY UP EVERY TIME A HEAVY GUSTY WIND OR A LARGE VEHICLE WOULD ME ME COMING IN ON COMING TOWARDS ME.
LEAKING OIL DUE TO OIL COOLER FAILURE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE 3.6L PENSTAR ENGINES AND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DOES NOTHING TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE LOOKED UP PLENTY OF THREADS AND VIDEOS ON THIS AND THIS IS NOT A EASY OR CHEAP REPAIR. THE RESULT IS OIL LEAKING FROM THE BACK OF THE OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AND TO THE GROUND.
FIRST FEW YEARS HAD 2 MAJOR OIL LEAKS WHERE THEY TOOK APART CAR TO REPAIR. I BROUGHT CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE ASKING THEM TO CHECK OIL THAT IS LEAKING FROM BOTTOM. WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS LEAKING. WEEKS LATER MY ENGINE WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING 2 CYLINDERS $4000 REPAIR. TWO MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW MY JEEP IS LEAKING OIL AGAIN AND I'M SURE IF I TRUST THE JEEP DEALER AT THIS POINT. PLEASE HELP
MOTOR HAS A CONSTANT TIC SEEMS TO BE GETTING LOUDER AS TIME GOES ON
AIR BAG LIGHT ON, SHOP SAYS THE CLOCK SPRING GOES BAD FAIR OFTEN IN JEEPS. STILL DRIVING IT WITHOUT THE NEEDED REPAIRS. DEALER SAYS RECALL ON MINE WAS FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS AND EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE HAD JEEP RECALLS REGARDING THE CLOCK SPRING, MY JEEP IS NOT SHOWING UP UNDER THAT RECALL.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ABOUT ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR OF THE OIL SENSOR SWITCH LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 31K MILES AND I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER. PLEASE LMK IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. [XXX]. MY NAME IS [XXX] VEHICLE IS RARELY USED. 2014 WRANGLER HAS KNOWN FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT SENSOR AS THERE WAS A TSB ON JULY 15, 2014 STATING SUCH. TSB # 18-034-14 REV. A AND RRT 14-046. 1,000 MILES SHORT OF THE 3 YR, 36K MILE WARRANTY, BUT 6 MONTHS PAST THE 3 YEAR AND JEEP WANTS $411 TO FIX THEIR KNOWN PROBLEM. JEEP STATES SINCE IT IS A SENSOR, IT NOT COVERED BY THE LONGER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.
I REPORTED TO MY DEALER APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE IN 2014 THAT AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE IN MOTION ALL SAFETY LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE, THE RADIO WOULD GO OFF AND THERE WOULD BE A DING NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I EVEN TOOK IT IN ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SINCE IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION. THEY HAVE TEST DROVE IT BUT NEVER COULD GET IT TO DO WHAT I DESCRIBED. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN DECEMBER 2018. IT JUST HAPPENS RANDOMLY, BUT IS VERY SCARY AND SEEMS DANGEROUS SINCE ALL THE SAFETY LIGHTS ILLUMINATE, RPM GAUGE DROPS ETC PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND BACK TO DRIVE IT SEEMS TO CORRECT ITSELF, BUT IT IS STILL VERY CONCERNING
OIL FILTER COOLER ADAPTER LEAKING AND DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF THE UNIT INTAKE MANIFOLD MUST BE REMOVED. OIL LEAKING AND COVERING UNDERCARRIAGE AND EXHAUST, APPEARS TO BE A CHRONIC AND WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6 PENSTAR ENGINE. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH THE UNIT APPEARS TO BE A WELL KNOWN ISSUE. TIME FOR CHRYSLER TO STEP UP.
OIL FILTER HOUSING STARTED LEAKING WITH NO WARNING OR EVENTS OCCURRING IN THE AREA. FAST RESEARCH STATES THIS IS A COMMONLY KNOW ISSUE THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF BUT AVOIDING.
OIL FILTER HOUSING AND COOLER UNIT CRACKED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DOWN ON TOP OF EXHAUST POSING A FIRE HAZARD.
OIL FILTER AND COOLER LEAKING OIL ALL OVER ENGINE AND EXHAUST THE FUMES FROM BURNING OIL ALL INSIDE THE CABINE
I RECENTLY DROVE MY JEEP ABOUT 14 HOURS ROUNDTRIP FOR THANKSGIVING. I CHECKED THE OIL RIGHT BEFORE BECAUSE I KNEW AN OIL CHANGE WAS COMING UP, BUT IT WAS STILL FINE SO I DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. ON THE WAY HOME, THE 'CHANGE OIL SOON' LIGHT CAME ON, SO I CHECKED IT AGAIN WHEN I GOT HOME AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DRY! I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW IT WAS STILL RUNNING. I PUT MORE OIL IN IT AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A CRACK IN THE OIL COOLER. I HADN'T HAD AN ISSUE WITH LEAKING UNTIL THIS POINT, BUT I HEARD OTHERS WITH THE SAME TYPE OF CAR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
OIL FILTER/ COOLER CRACKED AND LEAKING OIL. JEEP STATES I WAS 16DAYS OUTSIDE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND WILL NOT HELP COVER COSTS TO REPAIR WELL KNOWN ISSUE FOR 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINE
WHILE DRIVING, SWAY BAR DISCONNECT LIGHT ILLUMINATES, SKID CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATES, ALL GAUGES GO OFF, THEN ON. DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK FROM THE INSIDE USING THE DOOR CONTROL. WILL UNLOCK USING THE KEY FOB. DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEN SWAY BAR DISCONNECTS DRIVING AT HIGH WAY SPEED.
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ON THE V6 3.6L PENSTAR FAILED, ALLOWING OIL TO LEAK DIRECTLY ONTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. FROM THERE THE OIL DRAINED DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE, DOWN THE TRANSMISSION AND ONTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE I KNOW THIS TO BE A FIRE HAZARD. BASED ON MY OWN RESEARCH THIS FAILURE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR MODEL AND RESULTED IN THE MANUFACTURER MAKING CHANGES ON LATER MODELS. HOWEVER, THIS DOES ADDRESS THE THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES STILL ON THE ROAD. PART NUMBER SEEMS TO BE 68105583AA.
I DEVELOPED A OIL LEAK DUE TO THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING DEVELOPING A CRACK ON MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THIS IS CAUSING OIL TO DRIP ON THE EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND POSING A FIRE RISK.
STARTED UP MY VEHICLE TO TAKE DAUGHTER TO THE BUS. DROVE 20 YARDS TO THE ROAD TO WAIT ON THE BUS BACKED UP MY JEEP AND SHUT IT OFF AFTER SHE GOT ON THE BUS. OIL WAS EVERYWHERE. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING COOLER OR WHATEVER HE CALLED IT WAS BROKEN. APPARENTLY FROM WHAT HE TOLD ME AND WHAT I READ THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2014 MODEL. KNOWING IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM AND A VITAL PIECE OF THE JEEP FUNCTIONALITY, WHY IS IT MADE OF PLASTIC AND WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON IT? MY JEEP LITERALLY LOST ALL OIL.
MASSIVE OIL LEAK COVERING ENTIRE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE 68105583AF ADAPTER - ENGINE OIL FILTER
OIL FILTER ADAPTER CRACKED, NOW LEAKING OIL.
THE HEAT DOES NOT WORK ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY JEEP. THIS HAS RESULTED IN A VISIBILITY ISSUE DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. WE TOOK IT IN TO A MECHANIC TO BE LOOKED AT AND THE HEATER CORE WAS FOUND TO BE CLOGGED WITH A SAND LIKE SUBSTANCE. THE ISSUE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY SO WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. THE HEATER CORE WAS FLUSHED AND 2 DAYS LATER SAME ISSUE NO HEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE. WE TOOK IT BACK IN AND THE SAME SAND LIKE SUBSTANCE WAS FOUND AGAIN TO BE CLOGGING THE SYSTEM. THIS TIME WE HAD TO REPLACED THE HEATER CORE AND HAVE IT FLUSHED AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. 3 DAYS LATER THE SAME ISSUE SAND LIKE SUBSTANCE CLOGGING THE SYSTEM AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT IS NOT COVERED AND THEY WILL HAVE TO CHARGE US TO LOOK AT IT. I READ ON SEVERAL JEEP FORMS THAT JEEPS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THE SAND LIKE SUBSTANCE IS FROM THE CASTING AND IT CAN DAMAGE YOUR ENTIRE COOLING SYSTEM. IF SO MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE THEN WHY IS IT NOT BEING LOOKED INTO. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US TO CONTACT CHRYSLER AND THEN CHRYSLER DOES NOT LISTEN TO YOU AND SAYS TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER WE HAVE ALREADY HAD THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED.
STRONG FUEL SMELL FROM LEAKING FUEL ON TOP OF FUEL TANK, ESPECIALLY WHEN TANK NEAR FULL. STRONG ENOUGH TO SMELL ANYWHERE AROUND THE CAR WHEN PARKED WHETHER IT WAS RUNNING OR NOT, EVEN OUTSIDE. DEALER DIAGNOSED CRACKED FUEL PUMP BUT UNABLE TO GET THE PART DUE TO BACKORDER, NO SAFETY RECALL, NO WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS TO TO DRIVE SO HAD IT FIXED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. PULLED OUT FUEL PUMP AND THE PLASTIC WAS CRACKED ALL AROUND THE OUTSIDE EDGE UNDER THE LOCKING RING WHICH WAS THE SOURCE OF THE LEAKING FUEL. DEALER AND JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFERED NO REMEDY. BEWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IF YOUR JEEP JK HAS A STRONG FUEL SMELL.
VEHICLE WAS SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL AT VARIOUS TIMES. DEALER IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE AS A CRACKED OIL COOLER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCLARTY DANIEL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2201 SE MOBERLY LN, BENTONVILLE, AR 72712, (479) 250-3900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
NOTICED OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY TWO MONTHS AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED. JEEP ONLY HAD 41K MILES ON IT, RESULTING IN A $1050 REPAIR COST TO REPLACE. I NORMALLY TAKE IT TO AN OIL CHANGE PLACE (MR GOOD LUBE), BUT THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON MY JEEP THIS TIME SINCE THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS OIL FILTER HOUSING ISSUE (AND I AM GUESSING HAVE BEEN BLAMED). I TOOK IT TO MY NORMAL MECHANIC INSTEAD FOR THE OIL CHANGE. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE OIL STARTED LEAKING SO WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.
I NOTICED THERE IS A LEAK FROM MY OIL FILTER HOUSING, I COULD T TELL WHY IN MY UNDER CARRIAGE I HAD OIL GOING BACK NEAR TRANSMISSION FOLLOWED THE LEAK UP TO THE OIL FILTER HOUSING I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS CRACKED BUT AT ONLY 49K THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AND I HAVE READ ON MANY THREADS THIS IS ANY ISSUE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND COVERED UNDER POWER TERRAIN WARRANTY. I NOTICED IT BECAUSE I WAS CHECKING MY DIFFERENTIAL FLUIDS AND SAW THE MESS OF OIL SPRAYING ALL OVER MY UNDER CARRIAGE
WIPER STOPPED WORKING DURING A RAINSTORM WHILE DRIVING ON THE RAOD WHEN PUTTING ON NEW TIRES NOTICED THE SEAL IS LEAKING
TAKARA RECALL THE OIL COOLER HOUSING IS LEAKING WHICH IS CAUSING OIL TO RUN DOWN AND SPRAY ALL OVER UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AND TRANS, CAUSING SMOME. I'M SEEING HUNDREDS OF POST ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.
OUR RUBICON HAD DIFFICULTY GOING IN REVERSE RECENTLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THIS THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDING REPLACEMENT WITH ONLY 55,300 MILES AND JUST A MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY. WE FEEL LIKE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WITH SO FEW MILES. CHRYSLER DOES NOT APPEAR INTERESTED IN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER ISSUES ONLINE AND WONDER IF THIS IS COMMON. HENCE OUR COMPLAINT FOR THE RECORD.
P0520 - ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT. TSB- 18-034-14 REV.A ISSUED: 07/15/147 THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE SENSOR FOR YEARS, MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE IN NOT ONLY JEEP, BUT MANY CHRYSLER 3.6 LITER ENGINES. THE ADDITIONAL TROUBLE WITH JEEP IS IT IS NOT AN EASY FIX THE WHOLE MANIFOLD HAS TO BE REMOVED TO BE ABLE TO SWITCH OUT THE PART. IT IS A 4 HOUR LABOR CHARGE JUST TO REPLACE, AS WELL AS, MANY HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND HAD PROBLEM RECUR.
MY CAR RECENTLY STARTED A TICKING NOISE THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY. TICKING INCREASES WHILE VEHICLE ACCELERATES.
AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES WHILE ON A HIGHWAY MY JEEP SUDDENLY SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING AND I LOST ACCELERATION ON IT. TOOK IT TO MY LIFE TIME MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS OIL SLUDGE EVERYWHERE ON THE ENGINE. HE CHANGED THE OIL OUT, CLEANED OUT THE ENGINE BUT DIDN'T FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE OIL TANK OR HOSES. A YEAR LATER, NOW AT 40,000 MILES, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY COMES ON. MECHANIC READS A "MISFIRE" ERROR. HE CHANGES OUT ALL MY SPARK PLUGS, THE IGNITION COIL AND THE PLENUM GASKET. CLEANS OUT THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THE CAR IS HUMMING BEAUTIFULLY AGAIN. BUT 5 DAYS LATER, AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. MECHANIC CHECKS EVERYTHING HE DID AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HE RESEARCHED AND THINKS IT COULD BE THE EXHAUST VALVE SEATS BEING WORN OUT. RECOMMENDS I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. LOW AND BEHOLD, THEY DISCOVER THAT A CYLINDER HEAD NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED! APPARENTLY AN ISSUE THEY KEEP ENCOUNTERING FREQUENTLY IN THIS MODEL. I'VE SEEN IT POSTED ON A BUNCH OF THREADS REGARDING JEEPS. THANK GOODNESS I WAS 4 DAYS AWAY FROM MY 5 YEAR WARRANTY TO EXPIRE WHEN THIS HAPPENED!!!! I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL THE 2014 JEEPS TO MAKE SURE THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED ONCE AND FOR ALL. MY VIN DID NOT SHOW A RECALL PER YOUR SYSTEM, BUT ALL 2014 JEEPS SHOULD BE CHECKED SINCE IT'S OCCURRING SO FREQUENTLY, AND PEOPLE WILL BE OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY SOON WITH THAT YEAR'S MODEL.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT A FEW SECONDS UP TO MINUTES WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND/OR TURNING AND/OR OVER BUMPS.
NOTICED LARGE DROPLETS OF OIL UNDER JEEP. UPON INSPECTION, WITHOUT REMOVAL OF ANY COMPONENTS, LOOKED AS THOUGH OIL WAS POOLING AND DRIPPING AND HAD BEEN SPRAYING BACK TOWARDS TRANSMISSION. ISSUE A RECALL. DOES IT TAKE A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH BEFORE SOMEONE REALIZES THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE?
TAKATA RECALL THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE IN MOTION. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WITH 3 HOURS OF CHECKING UNABLE TO VERIFY THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT A VEHICLE FOR A DAY AND A HALF. I DO HAVE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP. IS THIS A MANUFACTURED ISSUE
I HAVE AN ENGINE FAILURE CODE 520 FOR THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH OR HARNESS WITH ONLY 8315 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I FOUND A JEEP FORUM THAT DESCRIBED THIS PROBLEM IN DETAIL AND STATED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE 2012 WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT WAS ALSO STATED THAT TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND FUEL INJECTOR RAIL WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED. THAT IS A LITTLE MORE COMPLICATED THAN WHAT I AM WILLING TO TRY. THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED UNDER A RECALL OR AT LEAST AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION.
AFTER GETTING A FINE DUST WITHIN THE CABIN OF THE JEEP I HAD MY AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT MY JEEP WAS NOT IN THE RECALL LIST. I FIND THIS HIGHLY CONCERNING AS THE SAFETY RECALL S40 IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY JEEP WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE COMPANY ALREADY HAS PLACED A RECALL FOR JEEPS OF MY YEAR OF MAKE.
OIL FILTER ADAPTER PART NO. 68105583AA FAILS AND CAUSES OIL LEAK.
PARKED VEHICLE ON A SLOPE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS IN PARK. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ALL PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE, IT SLOWLY STARTED ROLLING AWAY, BACKWARDS. IT TRAVELED DOWN A 4WD ROAD A SMALL DISTANCE BEFORE TURNING OFF AND TUMBLING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. LUCKILY EVERYONE HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THOUGH WE WERE PARKED ON A SLOPE, PROBABLY AROUND 15 DEGREES, THERE WAS COMPLETE FAILURE OF BOTH THE PARK GEAR AND THE PARKING BRAKE ALLOWING A ROLLAWAY. THE PARKING SURFACES WAS A COMBINATION SOLID ROCK AND DIRT.
2014 JEEP RUBICON. VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. LESS THAT 19,000 MILES. 7/10/18, JEEP RAN FINE IN MORNING AND AFTERNOON. TRIED TO START AFTER WORK (4:15 PM) AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER. JUMP START BATTERY AND DROVE TO DEALERSHIP. NOTHING ON DASH WAS WORKING WHILE DRIVING. SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE BOUNCING. WHILE DRIVING ALL LIGHTS WERE ON AND FLICKERING. EVEN HEADLIGHTS. VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS SURGING. WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR THE 2014 JEEP BUT NOT THE WRANGLERS. AGAIN, LESS THAT 19,000 MILES. DIAGNOSTIC RESULT WAS ALTERNATOR WENT BAD AND BURNED UP BATTERY. BOTH BEING REPLACED AT PERFORMANCE DEALERSHIP IN LAVISTA, NE 68128. I CANT UNDERSTAND HOW AN ALTERNATOR GOES BAD ON A JEEP WITH LESS THAN 19,000 MILE. THE JEEP IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND WE ARE COVERING ALL COST. SHOULD WRANGLERS HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE 2014 ALTERNATOR RECALL?
ADD ME TO THE LONG LIST OF PEOPLE WITH ENGINE OIL LEAKING FROM THE OIL FILTER/COOLER
MASSIVE OIL LEAK AT THE OIL COOLER HOUSING. (2 QUARTS PER DAY). LEAKING ON THE TOP OF THE MOTOR AND LEAKING DOWN THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE ENGINE DIRECTLY OVER THE HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD. LEAK OCCURS AT ALL RPM RANGES AND LEAVES MASSIVE PUDDLES OF OIL EVERYWHERE I GO WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. AND PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD IF STUCK IN TRAFFIC AND ENGINE TEMPS RISE ENOUGH TO CAUSE IGNITION OF LEAKING OIL OVER A HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD.
2014 3.6L OIL FILTER/HOUSING/COOLER CRACK LEAK OIL ON ENGINE SMELL OF BURNING (FIRE HAZARD)
CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING UNIT. FOLLOWING A REGULAR OIL CHANGE.
MY 2014 WRANGLER HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE JEEP WRANGLER CLOCKSPRING RECALL THAT IS FOR 2007-2010 YEARS. MY AIRBAG DEACTIVATION LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL OR HIT BUMPS. IT HAPPENS 2-3 TIMES A DAY AND WHEN IT DOES THE AIRBAG CAN BE DEACTIVATED FOR UP TO 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING THE WHEEL OR GIVING THE STEERING COLUMN A GOOD WHACK BRINGS IT BACK TO LIFE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.
OIL PRESSURE SWITCH HAS GONE OUT. MY JEEP HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE OIL PRESSURE IS FINE AND YET I NEED TO REPLACE THIS $45 SWITCH WHICH WILL I'M BEING TOLD WILL TAKE 4 HOURS BY THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE. THIS CAME ON AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE. DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A CODE 520. PARTS MANAGER STATED THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND ON CARS WITH LESS THA. 10,000 MILES.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY (ACCORDING TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP) MY OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED AND LEAKED MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE ENGINE'S OIL INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED IN 10 MINUTES AND EXTREMELY OVERHEATED THE ENGINE FROM THE TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFELY PARK. THE OIL MIXING WITH THE COOLANT CAUSED IT TO TURN INTO A THICK MUD-LIKE CONSISTENCY THAT CLOGGED UP THE COOLING SYSTEM AND AFTER LETTING IT COOL DOWN I OPENED THE RADIATOR THEN A THICK BROWN OILY/COOLANT MIXTURE SEEPED OUT OF THE RADIATOR. SO THE RADIATOR WAS HOLDING PRESSURE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OIL COOLER HOUSING UNDER WARRANTY ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR HOSES BUT IS NOW SAYING MY RADIATOR HAS A HOLE IN IT AND NOT HOLDING PRESSURE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY, DESPITE THE JEEP NOT HAVING ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES PRIOR TO A HOLE BLOWING OPEN IN THE ENGINE AND LEAKING OUT OIL. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TEST THE ENGINE ANY FURTHER EVEN THOUGH IT RAN FOR 10 MINUTES WITH LITTLE TO NO OIL IN IT WHICH MOST LIKELY CAUSED PRE-MATURE WEAR. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO PAY $800+ FOR A NEW RADIATOR. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 40 DAYS AGO FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND IT'S STILL COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THEY ARE TRYING TO GET MY JEEP OUT OF THEIR DEALERSHIP AS QUICKLY AS THEY CAN BY SPENDING THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME AND MONEY.
