MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 5MI. I STOPPED AND CONSULTED THE MANUAL. I DECIDED TO PROCEED HOME AFTER READING IT IS ONLY URGENT IF LIGHT IS FLASHING. I CHECKED MY OBD AND IT READ THE CODE P06DD WHICH INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH OIL PUMP. MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. DEALERSHIP REPLACED A SWITCH. SHORTLY AFTER MY LIGHT CAME BACK ON READING THE SAME CODE. ADDITIONALLY, I SMELLED BURNING OIL AND CAR WENT TO LIMP MODE WHEN AT 3000 RPMS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED OIL PUMP FINALLY. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING A LOT OF OIL. DEALERSHIP REPLACED OIL COOLER/HOUSING. DUE TO THE CONSTANT PROBLEMS AND MISDIAGNOSIS I CONSULTED SEVERAL OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY FREQUENTLY SEE MY VEHICLE TYPE TO REPLACE COOLER. APPARENTLY, IT IS DUE TO CHANGES MADE ON THE 3.6 ENGINES INCLUDING A PLASTIC PIECE THAT WAS FORMALLY METAL. THE DEALERSHIP I HAD DO THE REPAIRS, CLAIM THAT THE SWITCH WAS THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS COINCIDENTAL DESPITE ME HAVING THE CODE FOR OIL PUMP FROM DAY 1. AT APPROX 45000MI IT IS UNCOMMON FOR OIL SYSTEM FAILURES HOWEVER IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR AT SIMILAR MILAGES. SEARCH FORUMS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION SUPPLY AND RETURN STEEL HOSE RUBBED ON TRANSMISSION HOUSING CAUSING THE STEEL HOSE TO HAVE A HOLE AND LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID. HOSE DID HAVE A PLASTIC BRACKET THAT BROKE OVER TIME.
HAVING NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH MY TMPS. THERE'S AND OPEN RECALL ON IT BUT SAYS NOT WITH MY VIN. YET IS SPENT MONEY TAKING IT IN AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. PURCHASED USED 01/01/2018
VEHICLE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING , CAUSING THE ABS LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN PASSING GEAR THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK AND ACCELERATES CONTINUALLY WHILE HAVING TO KEEP LEFT FOOT ON BRAKE PUMPING GAS WITH RIGHT FOOT TO DISENGAGE THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN A MONTH. EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS!
MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT CAME BACK AS THE OIL SENSOR BEING THE PROBLEM. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 39000 MILES ON IT AND THEY WANT $600 TO REPAIR IT. I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AS OTHER BUTTONS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL. BEFORE DISCOVERING THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HEARD AN AUDIO INDICATOR AND A MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOR AN OIL CHANGE. AFTERWARDS, THE OIL CHANGE DISPLAY WARNING WAS NO LONGER VISIBLE, ONLY THE AUDIO INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO RESEARCH ONLINE FOR OPEN RECALLS. THE CONTACT FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V288000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
CASTING SAND FROM THE HEADS HAS CONTAMINATED THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM LEADING TO MY RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE BECOMING CLOGGED WITH SEDIMENT.
THE FREEDOM ROOF LEAKS ALLOWING SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER TO BUILD UP ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS I HAVE RETURNED FROM VACATION AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT OUTSIDE WITH SEVERAL INCHES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR NEAR THE PEDALS
OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS CAUSING OIL TO LEAK. GIVEN THE RELATIVELY SLOW BUT CONSISTENT LEAK THIS PROBLEM CAN GO VERY EASILY UNNOTICED BUT RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND ULTIMATELY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. IF THIS PART COMPLETELY FAILS THERE MAY BE NO WARNING TIME AND CAUSE ENGINE SEIZE AND/OR PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE. PART HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE IN MANY 2014 AND OTHER YEAR JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AND VEHICLES SUSPECTED TO HAVE THIS PART INSPECTED FOR LEAKING OIL. IN MY SCENARIO I NOTICED DRIPPING OIL FROM AROUND BOTH SIDES OF THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING BUT UNABLE TO TRACE TO THE SOURCE AT FIRST. AFTER READING A FEW FORUMS I LOOKED DOWN ALONG SIDE THE OIL FILTER HOUSING AND FOUND A PUDDLE OF OIL LAYING IN THE VALLEY OF THE ENGINE. MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS VERY SAME ISSUE AND THE FACT THAT THE PART HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED SO MANY TIMES AND CAN CAUSE SAFETY CONCERNS, I WOULD LIKE NHTSA SO PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS.
OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED. THIS OCCURRED AT LESS THAN 40,000. I WAS LUCKY THAT I NOTICED IT IN MY GARAGE RATHER THEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FOR REPAIRS. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THEME WITH THE 2014S. COME ON FCA CAN YOU SERIOUSLY CANT FIX THIS ISSUE. I MEAN REALLY.
FREEZING COLD (TEENS) TEMPS OUTSIDE, STARTED VEHICLE, HUGE OIL PUDDLE UNDER AFTER 10 MINUTES RUNNING TO WARM UP. TOOK SNAKE CAMERA, FOUND OIL RUNNING OUT REAR AND DOWN TRANNY BELL HOUSING. FOUND ENGINE OIL COOLER TO BE THE PROBLEM WHICH IS PLASTIC!!!!!!. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD TO SAY THE LEAST.
OIL LEAKING FROM THE OIL FILTER ADAPTOR HOUSING PER JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THE ITEM IS BACKORDERED AND JEEP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED MY DAUGHTER NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED. JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR RENTAL CAR OR PROVIDE A CAR WHILE THE CAR SITS AT DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR REPAIR. NO IDEA WHEN PART WILL BE BACK IN STOCK.

OIL FILTER HOUSING LEAK. $700 REPAIR. THIS IS A PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED FOR GOOD WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL ACTUALLY HOLD UP. THIS PIECE FAILED AT 60000 MILES...
WHILE DRIVING MODERATE SPEED ON A RURAL RD (EST MILES 115K), ALL RED & YELLOW LIGHTS CAME ON, "NO BUS" LIGHT CAME ON WHICH IS NOT LISTED IN THE OPS MANUAL, WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON, RPM GAUGE WENT TO ZERO, FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY, ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AND ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH TO POSSIBLE STALL. WITHIN A PERIOD OF TIME 10 MIN OR SO EVERYTHING CAME BACK TO NORMAL AND JEEP RAN OK. THIS HAS HAPPEN TO MY WIFE WHO IS A RURAL MAIL CARRIER ON MANY OCCASIONS. IN FACT IN 1 WEEK IT HAPPENED EVERY DAY AND IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER A LONG PERIOD. JEEP SERVICE FOLKS DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AS THE CODES DO NOT PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. THEY "THINK" POSSIBILITY IT COULD BE PWR FUSE BOX, MAIN COMPUTER OR FWD INSTRUMENT PANEL EA AT A COST OF OVER $1000 TO REPLACE. SERVICE FOLKS WANT T JEEP BROUGHT TO THEM WITH LIGHTS ON, GAUGES ZERO, ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING BUT IT'S AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND THEY ARE 30 MILES OR MORE AWAY DEPENDING WHERE THE PROBLEM HAPPENS. SERVICE FOLKS HAVE HAD THE JEEP FOR A TOTAL OF 3 DAYS IN JAN & FEB AND DROVE IT OVER 150 MILE AND THE PROBLEM NEVER APPEARED. IN FEB 2015 WHILE DRIVING (24,171 MILES) THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME "ON" AND JEEP STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN SO JEEP WAS THEN TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT A FAULT CODE SAID "WIRING DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH SLACK BETWEEN SENSOR & WIRING CAUSING POOR CONNECTION". REPLACED CAM SENSOR & WIRING. FAULT CLEARED. HAVE PHOTOS OF DASH WITH "ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES SHOWING ZERO AND NO BUS LIGHT ON AND WIPERS GOING BACK AND FORTH. I'LL SEND IF YOU NEED THEM BUT IT ALL LIGHTS AND GAUGES WHICH ARE DEPICTED IN THE OPS MANUAL. THIS POSSIBLE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL FIRE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED OVER MANY MONTHS THROUGHOUT 2018.
BOUGHT MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT IN APRIL 2017, IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 44,000 MILES. I NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNT OIL, I HAVENT CHANGED THE OIL RECENTLY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS AS THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER IS CRACKED. IDENTIFIED AS PART NUMBER 68105583AA. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE, AND ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS I HAVE READ A CONTINUING PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS? MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS REPLACED THE PART WITH PART 68105583AE. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. I HATE TO SPEND ALMOST 30,000 DOLLARS AND HAVE TO REPAIR IT AFTER DRIVINF IT 7,000 MILES. COMPLETE DISSAPOINTMENT.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A TOLL ROAD SMOKE STARTED COMING UP FROM THE FLOOR OF MY JEEP. YOU COULD SEE IT AND SMELL IT. WE ARE TALKING A LOT! THERE WASN'T A PLACE FOR ME TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. THE WORST PART IS HAVING MY 8 YEAR OLD SON IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW SCARED I WAS THAT MY JEEP MAY BE ON FIRE AND COULD BLOW UP WITH MY CHILD INSIDE?! WE PULLED OVER AND JUMPED OUT. I LOOKED UNDER AND THERE WAS A SMALL FLAME ON THE EXHAUST . MY JEEP DUMPED ALL OF ITS OIL AND IT SPILLED ALL OVER THE HOT EXHAUST CAUSING A FIRE. THE OIL WAS BURNING UNDERNEATH MY JEEP. THIS IS NOT OKAY. THIS DEFECTIVE COOLING HOUSING COULD EVENTUALLY KILL SOMEONE. I'M LIVID MY SON WAS IN THE VEHICLE. EVEN MORESO THAT THERE IS TONS OF COMPLAINTS AND YOU'VE DONE NOTHING! I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED CHRYSLER! MY FAMILY HAS BEEN BUYING YOUR VEHICLES FOR CLOSE TO 20 YEARS. WENT ON TO JEEP FORUM AND NOTICED THAT THE COMPLAINT HAD BEEN DONE NUMEROUS TIMES BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHERE THE PART BEFORE USED TO BE MADE OUT OF METAL WAS NOW BEING MADE OUT OF PLASTIC SO THE PART IS FAULTY AND NEEDS LOOKED INTO THANK YOU

CRACKED OIL COOLER RELEASED EXTREME AMOUNTS OF OIL INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THROUGHOUT ENGINE AND UNDERCARRIAGE. THE OIL SPILL REPRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR NOT ONLY ROAD/PAVEMENT SLIP HAZARD AND BRAKE CONTAMINATION BUT ALSO PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD AS IT OCCURS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR ELECTRICAL AND HEATED ELEMENTS. AFTER SCHEDULING REPLACEMENT, PART IS OUT OF STOCK DUE TO HEAVY DEMAND FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR. AFTER CALLING MULTIPLE PART SUPPLIERS AND DEALERS IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THIS YEAR ONLY.

ENGINE LEAKS OIL FROM THE "OIL FILTER ADAPTER" THAT IS CRACKED. THE OIL LEAKS ONTO THE MANIFOLD AND GETS REALLY HOT CAUSING A BURNING SMELL. IT COULD POTENTIALLY SET A FIRE TO THE ENGINE. I NOTICED THIS BECAUSE OF THE STRONG BURNING SMELL AND THE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE.
CORNER OF RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT, FOUND BY DEALERSHIP ON INSPECTION. NOTED BY THE DEALER AS A COMMON DEFECT FOR RADIATORS IN THIS MODEL RANGE AND THEY SEE IT A LOT.
MAJOR OIL LEAK FROM THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND A FIRE HAZARD.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V632000 (TIRES) TO THE DEALER (BARNETT CHRYSLER JEEP, 3430 HWY 61 N, WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.

I NOTICED MOTOR OIL LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. AFTER THE MECHANIC INSPECTED IT, IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A LEAK IN OIL COOLER / FILTER HOUSING AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND SEVERAL CAR OWNERS WITH THE SAME DAMAGE IN JEEP VEHICLES BELOW 40K. MAJOR OIL LEAK AT OIL FILTER HOUSING. POOLING OF OIL ON ENGINE BLOCK AND LEAKING DOWN THE BACK OF ENGINE ON EXHAUST PIPE AND THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING. LEAKING OCCURS WHEN IN MOTION AND SITTING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND FIRE HAZARD.
OIL FILTER HOUSING HAS CRACKED AT 36,000 MILES LEAKING OIL ON TOP OF MOTOR CREATING VERY HIGH RISK OF FIRE. HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC SHOULD B RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH HOUSING MADE OF DIFFERENT MATERIAL THAT WONT CRACK . OIL LEAKS DOWN BACK OF MOTOR AN UNDERNEATH VEHICLE GETTING ON EXHAUST . THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING WITH MANY VEHICLES OF THIS MAKE AN YEAR MODEL 2014 . HOUSING JUST CRACKED HAD NOT BEEN WORKED ON HOUSING IS FAULTY BECAUSE OF TYPE OF MATERIAL IT IS MADE OF
THE DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. THIS OCCURS MULTIPLE TIMES AT A TIME I.E. SEQUENCE USUALLY LOCK LOCK UNLOCK UNLOCK THEN REPEATS. THE JEEP IS USUALLY RUNNING.
RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT, DEALER INSPECTED RADIATOR AND CONFIRMED LEAK COMING FROM SIDES OF RADIATOR..I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING ALL COST..AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THE RADIATOR LEAKING IS A COMMON DEFECT PROBLEM WITH JEEP WRANGLER THEREFORE SHOULD BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED AT JEEPS EXSPENSE.
MY CLOCK SPRING HAS WENT OUT. JUST CURIOUS HOW THE 2014 JKU HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT NOT THE 2014 JK. I'VE ALSO BEEN READING ON NUMEROUS JEEP FORUMS THAT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY DUE TO THIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO IVERSON MAX JEEP (101 2ND ST, HURON, SD) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
ONE DAY AFTER LEAVING MY 9 HOUR SHIFT AT WORK, I WALKED UP TO MY JEEP AND COULD SEE THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED AT SOME POINT DURING THE DAY. NOT KNOWING MUCH ABOUT AIRBAGS I WALKED AROUND THE JEEP TO SEE IF IT BEEN HIT, NO DAMAGE OF ANY KIND. I'VE SINCE LEARNED THAT AIRBAGS DON'T DEPLOY ON PARKED VEHICLES UNLESS THEY ARE RUNNING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED (NEW) MY JEEP. THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE. AFTER ASKING ME IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN HIT, THEY SAID MAYBE A RABBIT OR SOME OTHER RODENT ATE THROUGH SOME WIRING. THEIR INVESTIGATION DID NOT UNCOVER ANYTHING (NO WIRING ISSUE, NO CODES, NOTHING) AND THEY WANTED TO CALL IN CHRYSLER ENGINEERING AND POSSIBLY AN INSPECTOR DUE TO THEIR ACCESS TO ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC CAPABILITIES. AFTER I ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE SINCE THIS WAS NOW GOING TO TAKE SEVERAL DAYS, THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY HAD PERMISSION TO REPLACE THE "NOW DEEMED DEFECTIVE AIRBAG". THE 2014 MODEL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY OF THE TAKATA RECALLS, NOR WAS THE ISSUE SIMILAR TO THE TAKATA RECALL OR THE COIL SPRING RECALL. THANK GOD I WASN'T GOING 75 DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE AIRBAG DECIDED TO SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOY. ITS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE TO GET OVER THE FEAR OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AFTER THE AIRBAG IS REPLACED AND THIS POSSIBLY HAPPENING AGAIN SINCE THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. 2014 WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON 25,620 MILES VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY (PARKED) NOT RUNNING FOR THE PREVIOUS 9 HOURS AT A SECURE FACILITY WITH 24 HOUR VIDEO MONITORING.
TAKATA RECALL, MY CAR WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A SPEED APPROXIMATELY 45MPH. MY CAR WAS STOPPED 3RD ON THE RED LIGHT DRIVER SEAT BROKE OFF. NO AIR BAGS WAS ACTIVATED. MY QUESTION IS WHY? ALL PASSENGERS WAS SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES. NOW ALL BEEN UNDER DOCTORS SUPERVISION. THE DRIVER WHO IS REAR ENDED US FELL ASLEEP.
OIL COOLING HOUSING BROKE AND OIL SPRAYED ALL OVER THE HOT ENGINE. THE SMOKE WAS PRETTY INTENSE AND USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN CASE THE OIL FLASHED OFF
OIL COOLER KEEPS CRACKING CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DOWN MY ENGINE, POTENTIALLY DRAINING ENGINE OF OIL WHILE DRIVING AND CATCHING FIRE. CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE YET WILL NOT RECALL THE PART. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING INJURED OR A DEATH TO OCCUR IN ORDER TO RECALL A FAULTY PART? I'VE ALREADY HAD A JEEP DEALER REPLACE THE OIL COOLER AND IT SEEMS THAT IT'S GOING TO CONTINUE TO CRACK AND LEAK OIL EVERYWHERE DOWN MY ENGINE. THE FLASH POINT OF MOTOR OIL IS 232 DEGREES AND MY ENGINE GETS AS HOT AS 230 DEGREES WHEN PULLING A TRAILER ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS BEYOND FRIGHTENING TO THINK MY ENGINE COULD CATCH FIRE WHILE MY FAMILY AND I ARE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DUE TO JEEPS FAULTY PART.
OIL LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE - LOOKS TO BE UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.
THE RADIO WOULD NOT COME ON AFTER VEHICLE START UP THEN WOULD AFTER THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED THEN RECONNECTED. PROBLEM CONTINUED DISCONNECTING BATTERY STOPPED WORKING AND POWER WINDOW CONTROLLS MALFUNCTIONED AND STARTED WORKING AGAIN. RADIO STILL DOES NOT WORK AND WILL SOMETIMES COME ON WITH BRIGHT SCREEN AND A VERY LOUD SOUND WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP STATES NOT A WARRENTY ISSUE. ANOTJER MECHANIC STATES IT IS TIPM ISSUE AND WAS RECALLED IN OTHER DODGES. ALSO ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON.
JEEPS HAVE SOMETHING KNOWN AS "DEATH SHUTTERS" WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND GOING OVER A BUMP. THE FRONT END OF THE JEEP WILL SHUTTER AND THERE IS A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE
DURING THE HURRICANE IRMA I WAS GETTING THE REST OF MY SUPPLIES AND RETURNED HOME WHEN I FOUND OUT THE STORM STRENGTHENED I WENT TO MY CAR TO MOVE IT TO A SAFER LOCATION AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER THE STORM AAA WAS ALLOWED TO TOW MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS THE TIPM MODULE SO I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS AND WHEN I LOOKED IT UP REALIZED THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM FOR YEARS ON THIS WHICH MY MOTHERS CAR A CHRYSLER 300C 2007 WAS APART OF THIS AND WHEN THE CHRYSLER STALLED TWICE THAT I CAN REALLY REMEMBER BEING ON THE OPEN ROAD WITH MY MOTHER IN THE CAR WHO IS 91 JUST SHUT OFF ONCE AT A RED LIGHT AND ONCE WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN. THIS IS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND MY JEEP IS UNDER WARRANTY I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE CHRYSLER AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY I REPORTED THIS CAR EARLIER AND REPORTING MY JEEP NOW PLZ MAKE THIS A RECALL ITEM FOR I'M ON FIXED INCOME AND HANDICAPPED AND MY MOTHER CAN NOT GET IN OR OUT OF MY JEEP WITH MANY DIFFICULTIES I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CHRYSLER ON I75 NOW BECAUSE I'M AFRAID IT WILL SHUTDOWN AND MY MOTHER MAYBE IN THE CAR AT THE TIME SHE WAS BOTH TIMES BEFORE THAT'S WHY I REMEMBER THAT WHEN I WAS BY MYSELF AND IT HAPPENED I WASN'T TOO CONCERNED BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY ME WORRIED BUT AT LEAST SHE WASN'T IN THE CAR PLZ ONCE AGAIN MAKE THIS A RECALL ITEM BEFORE SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS I'M GLAD NO DAMAGE TO THE JEEP FROM THE HURRICANE BUT WAS WORRIED BECAUSE I COULDN'T MOVE IT THANK YOU
VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER REGULAR SERVICE AT THE DEALER. RETURNED TO HAVE IT CHECKED, WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THE LOCATION OF THE SENSOR REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, FUEL INJECTOR'S AND RAILS, ETC., RESULTING IN APPROX. 4 HOURS OF LABOR AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY HAVE "SEEN THOUSANDS OF THESE SENSOR'S FAIL ON THE 3.6 ENGINE". THERE IS A TSB; 18-034-14 REV. A, DOCUMENTING COMPLAINTS. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS 41K MILES ON IT, THE DEALER WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FACT THERE APPARENTLY IS NO RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE ITEM. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD DO NOTHING, EXCEPT FOR PUT IN A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DEALER. I TOLD THEM THAT THE DEALER IS NOT THE PROBLEM, IT IS THE MANUFACTURER WHO REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL DESPITE THE FACT THERE ARE NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS PART FAILING ACROSS THEIR PRODUCT LINE. WAS TOLD TO COMPLAIN TO NHTSA.
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING HAS CRACKED AT 18,000 MILES
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHILE RAINING AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK ON LOW OR HIGH. UNABLE TO GET PARTS FROM JEEP. WIPER SWITCH IS ON BACK ORDER FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE IF THERE IS A CHANCE OF RAIN.
OVERNIGHT FAILURE WHILE PARKED: STARTED JEEP IN THE MORNING AND DISCOVERED NO INTERIOR DOME LIGHT UPON ENTERING, NO TURN SIGNALS, NO HEADLIGHTS, NO WIPER CONTROLS, NO STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, NO SEAT HEATERS, NO ESP CONTROL. TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED A GROUNDED CLOCK SPRING CAUSING CRITICAL SYSTEM FAILURES RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THESE SAME CLOCK SPRINGS WERE RECALLED BY NHTSA ON MAY 11, 2016 UNDER CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V288000 ( HTTPS://WWW.NHTSA.GOV/RECALLS?NHTSAID=16V288) ONLY ON RIGHT-HAND DRIVE VEHICLES FOR "CONTAMINATION FAILURES" CAUSING AIR BAG FAILURES WHERE THEY WERE REPLACED AND A MORE PROTECTIVE STEERING WHEEL TRIM SHROUD WAS INSTALLED. IT'S SAFE TO SAY THAT THE LEFT-HAND DRIVE VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AND ARE NO MORE EXEMPT FROM THESE CONTAMINATION FAILURES. IT'S ALSO SAFE TO SAY, I HAVE THE SAME FAILURE AND THE SAME AIR BAG MALFUNCTION THAT, THANKFULLY, I DID NOT DISCOVER. THANK GOD I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE AIR BAG DIDN'T FIRE, OR I WOULD HAVE HAD NEED TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY.
LEAK FROM THE MOTOR OIL COOLER HOUSING, ON THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINE FROM A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE OIL COOLER HOUSING WAS REVISED IN THE 2014 MODEL YEAR FROM A METAL PART TO A PLASTIC PART. MINE STARTED LEAKING AT 20998 MILES. THE LEAK IS IDENTIFIED PRIMARILY BY A POOL OF OIL FORMING IN THE "V" AT THE BASE OF THE COOLER HOUSING, AND MOTOR OIL RUNNING DOWN OFF THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AND AROUND THE TRANSMISSION PAN (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE LEAK IS NOT A TRANSMISSION LEAK, IT IS AN OIL LEAK FROM THE MOTOR OIL COOLER HOUSING.
