DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
2003 KIA SEDONA WHICH WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW HAS HAD A PROBLEM ALMOST SINCE WE PURCHASED IT, INITIALLY WITH RUNNING ROUGH, THEN TRANSMISSION INTO STALLING, OR LOSS OF POWER AND ALMOST STALLING, WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO A HIGHWAY OR OTHER MAIN THOROUGHFARE WHERE RAPID ACCELERATION IS REQUIRED FOR SAFE ENTRY. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT WHICH WE PURCHASED IT NUMEROUS TIMES. EITHER THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, OR THEY MADE REPAIRS WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON OCTOBER 4, 2006, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT ON A BUSY 4 LANE ROAD WHEN IT STALLED AND COULD NOT BE STARTED AGAIN, LEAVING HER STRANDED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE POWER CONTROL MODULE THIS TIME, AND WE GOT IT BACK TODAY, OCTOBER 6, IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. I DROVE TO A DESTINATION 17 MILES AWAY AND BACK THIS EVENING. IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, AND ALMOST STALLED SEVERAL MORE TIMES, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A HIGHWAY OR A MAJOR LOCAL ROAD. I NARROWLY AVOIDED GETTING INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES TONIGHT. THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS. *JB
ON TUES. THE 3RD OF OCT. 2006 I WENT TO START MY 2003 KIA SEDONA AND IT WOULD NOT START SO AAA WAS CALLED, THEY CAME AND JUMPED THE BATTERY AND IT WAS ALL SET TO GO. THURSDAY THE 5TH I NOTICED CONSOLE NEAR RADIO WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH. FRIDAY OCT. 6TH 2006 I WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR AND I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR OPEN. I NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AND BLACK. WHEN I FINALLY GOT INTO THE CAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS COMPLETELY MELTED BY A FIRE THAT OCCURRED SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THE CAR WAS TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, THEY ARE GIVING ME CASH VALUE FOR IT AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH OWING MONEY ON A CAR I DON'T HAVE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME KIND OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IT WAS A 2003 AND I PURCHASED IT ONLY 6 MONTHS AGO. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT EVERYTHING WAS DAMAGED AND I AM AT A LOSS AND DON'T KNOW WHAT I CAN DO. *NM
THIS VAN HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, THE CD PLAYER DOESN'T WORK ANY MORE. THE ALTERNATOR WITH OUT AT 40,000 MILES. THE FUSES INSIDE KEEP BLOWING. THE AIR CONTROLLER IN THE BACK IN FALLING OUT OF THE CEILING. I HAD TO LEAVE IT WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK SO THAT THEY COULD FIND THE HESITATION PROBLEM IT WAS HAVING WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE DISTRIBUTOR CABLE, THIS WAS AT ABOUT 17,000 MILES AND THAT WAS ALSO THE MILES AT THE 2ND BRAKES JOB. IT NOW MAKES A NOISE IN THE BACK OF THE VAN THAT SOUNDS LIKE A MOTORCYCLE IS COMING UP BEHIND YOU. I JUST HOPE WHATEVER IT IS IT DOESN'T BLOW LIKE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD. I BOUGHT THIS VAN BECAUSE I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD AND A 4 YEAR OLD SO I REALLY DON'T WANT TO CRASH WITH SUCH PRECIOUS CARGO. THANKS, ROSE ANN. *NM
A RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THIS SEDONA 2003 ON FEBRUARY 12 2006, REGARDING POWER SEATS WIRING( NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V463000). ON JULY 10, 2006 WHILE DRIVING SMOKE CAME OUT THE FRONT DASH AND SUDDENLY A FIRE UNDER DRIVER WHEEL(GEAR) RIGHT NEXT TO MY WIFE'S LEFT LEG. DRIVERS WINDOWS WAS DOWN BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY SMOKE PRIOR TO THE FIRE STARTING, SO WHEN MY WIFE STOPPED THE SEDONA AND NOTICED THE FLAMES NEAR HER LEGS SHE JUMPED ON THE DRIVERS SEATS AND SINCE SHE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS POWER FAILURE DUE TO THE FIRE THEN SHE JUMPED THROUGH THE WINDOWS AND GOT OUT, SOMEBODY ELSE PUT OUT THE FIRE QUICKLY WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT HE USED THE KEY TO OPEN THE DOOR BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT OTHER WAY TO OPEN THAT DOOR. ALSO, NEEDED TO INVESTIGATE WHY THE DOOR DID NOT OPENED AT THAT TIME WHEN A FIRE GOING ON. ROAD ASSISTANCE CAME IN TO PICK UP THE SEDONA, THEN WAS TAKEN DOWN TO MOTORAMBAR, INC. AUTHORIZED KIA DEALER IN PUERTO RICO FOR INSPECTION AND TO GET A CERTIFIED DIAGNOSTICS ON HOW AND WHY THIS HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISOR SUPERVISOR THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST SEDONA THAT CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH NO ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS OTHER THAN WHAT IT CAME ORIGINALLY WHEN I PURCHASED THE UNIT. THEY WERE GOING TO LET KIA MOTORS ENGINEERS KNOW ABOUT IT SO THEY CAN COME DOWN AND PERFORM AND INVESTIGATION ON WHY THIS HAPPENED AND HOW THE FIRE START AND WHEN THAT HAPPENED, THEY WILL CONTACT ME SO I CAN BE PRESENT WHEN THEY DO THE INSPECTION AND CERTIFICATION, BUT THIS NEVER HAPPENED, I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A LACK OF INTEREST FROM KIA MOTORS OR THAT KIA MOTORS WERE NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT IT. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN SIX MONTHS AND THE SEDONA IS STILL THERE GETTING RUSTY. AT THIS TIME THEY DO NOT KNOW WHY THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB
I HAD MY SEDONA 2003, THE POWER SEAT RECALL WAS MADE 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT(FIRE START ABOVE FUSE BOX), THE DEALER IS NOT TELLING ME THE TRUE ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY INSPECTORS FROM KIA MOTORS COMING DOWN TO INSPECT THIS MINIVAN. THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 6 MONTHS AN THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO START WORKING ONE IT OR A SIMPLE AS TELLING ME WHY THIS HAPPENED. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER?S SIDE THIRD ROW SEAT SEIZED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE THE PASSENGER. THE SEAT BELT HAD TO BE CUT FROM AROUND THE PASSENGER. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT FOR THE THIRD ROW SEAT ON THE DRIVER?S SIDE RECENTLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE SEAT BELT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. UPDATED 06/06/12 *BF THE CONSUMER HAS STATED THAT ONLY THE FIRST SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED NOT THE SECOND. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ITS ON. UPDATED 06/07/12 *JS
IN JULY OF 2006, WHILE ON VACATION, WE NOTICED A LUG NUT MISSING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL, AND ONE NEXT TO IT WAS FINGER LOOSE. (NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON IN FEBRUARY 2006). I REPLACED THESE AT THE NEXT EXIT. TOOK VAN TO KIA DEALER THE NEXT WEEK, THEY REPLACED WITH OEM LUG NUTS. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I NOTICED A LUG NUT WAS MISSING AGAIN FROM THE SAME WHEEL. TOOK TO KIA, THEY REPLACED. 2 WEEKS LATER, I NOTICED A LUG NUT MISSING FROM SAME TIRE AGAIN. TOOK TO KIA TO BE REPLACED AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY THEY KEPT FALLING OFF, HAD NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE. 2 MONTHS PASSED, AND I TRIED TO ROTATE MY TIRES IN EARLY OCT. ONE STUD SNAPPED OFF, AND ANOTHER SEIZED UP, IF I TRIED TO GET IT OFF, IT WOULD HAVE SNAPPED OFF ALSO. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY, THEY REPLACED 2 STUDS AND THE 2 LUG NUTS. AGAIN, NO IDEAS AS TO WHY THIS IS OCCURRING. I'M AFRAID THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WHEEL STUDS / WHEEL ASSEMBLY, WHICH MAY RESULT IN A WHEEL SEPARATION WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY TO PASSENGERS/OTHER PEOPLE, AND SERIOUS DAMAGE TO VEHICLES. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED/KILLED. *NM
OIL SLUDGE IS BUILDING UP IN THE ENGINE. THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED AS REQUIRED AND THE ENGINE FLUSHED TO NO AVAIL. ANTWERPEN KIA DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE VEHICLE WARRANTY AND REPAIR OR REPLACE THE ENGINE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 55-65 MPH THE VEHICLE SHAKES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SWITCH ONCE. THIS ATTEMPT DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *AK UPDATED 05/30/06
HARD TO STEER ON TURNING STEERING DOES NOT WANT TO RETURN ALSO HARD TO TURN AT ANY SPEED. THE U-JOINT ON THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BINDED UP WITHOUT WARNING. THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED ALSO.
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE ON 2003 KIA SEDONA'S ACCELERATOR CABLE (05V-239). DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO CORRECT THE RECALL. *TS *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 2003 KIA SEDONA CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING FOR AROUND SIX HOURS. THE FIRE STARTED UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE DASHBOARD AREA. THE INSIDE OF THE VAN HAD SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP UNTIL THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER LOOKED AT THE VAN. THE VAN WAS DRIVING FINE AND WORKING IN GOOD SHAPE PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. T A FIRE INVESTIGATOR CAME AND INSPECTED THE SCENE. THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR CONCLUDED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE FIRE. THE CONSUMER JUST TOLD KIA ABOUT THE FIRE, AND THEY WANTED THE CONSUMER TO GET A COPY OF THE FIRE REPORT ,AND THEN THEY WOULD TALK TO HIM. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL HIM. AN INSURANCE AND FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN, ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER DID NOT HAVE A COPY RIGHT NOW OF THE REPORT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK PICTURES ON THE NIGHT OF THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO DAMAGE TO THE HOME. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT COME OUT OF GEAR FOR THE WRECKER TO TOW IT.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SEDONA. THE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO START BY ITSELF . THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ON AND THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE VEHICLE AND FLAMES ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND PUT THE FLAMES OUT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED. THE FIRE WAS FIRST NOTICED FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WHERE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERATING UNUSUALLY BEFORE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS BEFORE THE FIRE WAS NOTICED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER HUSBAND AT THIS POINT THEY BELIEVED THIS WAS STARTED FROM THE LOW JACK INSTALLATION WHICH WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE, AND AFTER ARSON WAS RULED OUT THEY HANDED THE SITUATION OVER TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE CONTACT GOING THERE TONIGHT TO PICK UP THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S REPORT. *AK THE HORN DID NOT WORK.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 2003 KIA SEDONA ACCELERATED BY ITSELF WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN. THE ENGINE ACCELERATED WHEN THE CONSUMER HAD FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR HAD NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. THE CAR TRAVELED A COUPLE OF FEET AND THERE WAS A NEAR MISS BY OTHER VEHICLES. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS WAITING FOR ON AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED KIA AT THIS POINT. HE SUGGESTED THAT ON ONE KNEW WHAT WOULD MAKE THE VEHICLE DO THIS. THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF 6 TIMES IN THE SAME DAY, AND THE CONSUMER HAD FOOT ON THE BRAKE ALL 6 TIMES. THE CONSUMER CONSULTED THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND LOOKED AT THE ENGINE ,AND THE ENGINE SIZE WAS DESCRIBED AS 3500.*AK
A FRONT END IMPACT AT 45 MPH AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
THIRD TIME I AM HAVING MY SEAT BELT BUCKLE REPLACED DUE TO AIRBAG LAMP BEING ON. THEY JUST KEEP REPLACING FAULTY PART WITH ANOTHER FAULTY PART, THIS THIRD TIME, ONLY TOOK TWO DAYS FOR LIGHT TO COME BACK ON. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD IN THE MEANTIME MY AIRBAGS ARE INACTIVE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED, NOT JUST REPLACED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE.
I HAVE HAD MY 2003 KIA SEDONA A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS. I BOUGHT IT NEW FROM A DEALER. SINCE 2002, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT SEAT BELT SENSORS, TO THE POINT BOTH HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THIS SENSOR DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY, THE "AIRBAG NEEDS SERVICING" LIGHT COMES ON. WITH THAT LIGHT ON, THE VAN WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION (VA STATE INSPECTION). THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE DEALERSHIP WAS OUT OR STOCK OF THE REPLACEMENT SEATBELT ASSEMBLY, BUT THEY GAVE ME ONE FROM ANOTHER CAR WHILE WE WAITED FOR MY PARTS TO COME IN. THEY NEVER CAME IN. NOW, THE 2ND ONE HAS GONE BAD, AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PART. EVIDENTLY, WHERE THE DEARLERSHIP ORDERS PARTS FROM KIA IS OUT OF STOCK OF THESE ITEMS DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF REPLACEMENT. I AM (1) CONCERNED THAT SO MANY OF THESE ARE GOING BAD THAT THE COMPANY HAS RUN OUT OF STOCK, AND (2) WORRIED THAT FAILURE OF THIS SENSOR COULD RESULT IN MY AIRBAG NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING OVER 4 MONTHS FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS, AND THEY ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FROM THE DEALER. THIS ITEM IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RECALL ITEM. BUT SHOULDN'T A SAFETY ITEM LIKE THAT CAUSE A RECALL SINCE IT INVOLVES PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE PASSIVE RESTRAINT OPERATION? AND IF THAT MANY ARE FAILING, DOESN'T THAT CAUSE CONCERN FROM THE NHTSB?
CAR HAS BEEN HUGE HEADACHE BOUGHT NEW IN 2003 HAS BEEN TOWED TWICE FOR LEAKING COOLANT LINES THAT RUSTED OUT. LAST TIME WAS ON VACATION KIA HAS NOT RETURNED ON PHONE CALL OR E-MAIL AS IT COST ME 300 DOLLARS AND CAR IS UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY HAS 34K MILES . DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE BROKE AND AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON FIXED BY DEALER. ONE BRAKE PAD LINING FELL OFF AT 25K MILES REPLACED MYSELF. MOST IMPORTANT WE HAD A REAR TIRE BLOW OUT AT 60 MPH IN THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC. TIRE SHREDDED APART WITH 28K MILES AND WAS NEW YORK INSPECTED 2 MONTHS EARLIER. OTHER BACK TIRE BUBBLED OUT ON ONE SIDE AND MADE THE CAR SHUDDER. REPLACED TIRES MYSELF BUT PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS CAR NOW I AM REALLY WORRIED AFTER READING ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IN WARM TEMPERATURES ABOVE 80 DEGREES, THE CONTACT SMELLS RAW GAS AS IF SOMEONE POURED GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL CAUSES HIM TO BECOME PHYSICALLY ILL. KIA WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND UNSUCCESSFULLY ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THEY STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. WHEN KIA HAD A TECHNICIAN INSPECT THE VEHICLE, HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED IN THIS MANNER AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER T1472689. KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ALSO PROVIDED CASE NUMBER K1473088. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
DROVE 2003 KIA SEDONA 4 OR 5 MILES. GOT OUT TO EAT AND IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES OR LESS THE INSIDE WAS FULL OF SMOKE AND THE DASHBOARD WAS IN FLAMES BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL. USED FIRE ESTINGISHER BUT DID NOT GET THE FIRE OUT COMPLETELY AND FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. I HAD HEARD THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS HAPPENING ON OTHER 2003 KIA SEDONA'S. HAVE CONTACTED KIA AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL INSURANCE COMPANY CONTACTS THEM.
DT ON JULY 12TH, 2005 THE SEAT BELT COMPLETELY BROKE, IT BROKE FROM THE TWO METAL PRONGS. LOOK LIKE A MESH OF WIRES THAT GO DOWN INTO THE SEAT. WHEN THE CONSUMER SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, HER 5 YR HIT THE BACK OF THE SEAT WHICH WAS ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE. THE OTHER SEATS BELTS ARE ALL THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE REAR CENTER. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED KIA THEY ARE REPLACING THE SEAT BELT, HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT ALARMING THE PUBLIC. *JB
ON THE MORNING OF 6/21/05, I DOUBLE PARKED MY CAR ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOME FOR STREET CLEANING. I WAS INSIDE MY HOUSE @ 10 MINUTES WHEN A NEIGHBOR TOLD ME THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM MY CAR. I WENT TO THE CAR AND SAW FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE AREA UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD BY THE BRAKE/GAS PEDALS. CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. ACCORDING TO THE CLAIMS INVESTIGATOR AND THE BODY SHOP THE CAR IS AT, THE FIRE CAME FROM THE FUSE BOX OF THE VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL FIRES SIMILAR TO THIS HAVE STARTED IN OTHER 2003 KIA SEDONAS AND WANTED TO REPORT THE SITUATION.
2003 KIA SEDONA WITH APPROX 48,000 MILES, PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED IN THE PARKING AREA OF MY TOWNHOUSE COMMUNITY. WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR REMOTELY USING THE KEY RING AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. EVENTUALLY HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN THE CAR AND NOTICED THE ENTIRE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND DASHBOARD AREA HAD LITERALLY MELTED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. APPEARS AS IF THERE WAS SOME KIND OF ELECTRICAL SHORT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BONNEVILLE KIA AND DUE TO MY EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT IMMEDIATELY SET UP A RENTAL. THE SERVICE REP AT BONNEVILLE SAID HE HAD NOT SEEN "ANYTHING LIKE IT" AND WAS TO CALL HIS FACTORY REP AND RECOMMENDED I CONTACT MY AUTO INSURANCE CARRIER TO BEGIN THE CLAIMS PROCESS. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS INCIDENT SEEM WAY TO CLOSE TO OTHER COMPLAINTS FOUND ON OUR WEBPAGE. CLEARLY THERE IS SOME KIND OF DEFECT THAT KIA NEEDS TO ADDRESS. OTHER THAN SERVICE FOR OIL CHANGES AND TIRE ROTATION, ONLY KIA BONNEVILLE HAS PERFORMED MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE. PURCHASE DATE WAS DEC 2003. *JB
DT: WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. CONSUMER TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH SHOWED A FAULTY SENSOR WITHIN THE AIR BAG. DEALER ORDERED A NEW AIR BAG SENSOR. CONSUMER WAITED 3 WEEKS FOR THIS TO BE DELIVERED. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO CHANCE THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY AS IT WAS SIMPLY INACTIVE. ON JUNE 17, 2005 THE BUCKLE WAS REPLACED, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT OFF AND NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. ON AUGUST 13, 2005, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER ,WHO NOTED THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING AND AGAIN HAD TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO COME IN. *AK *JB
DT: AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND GOT OUT OF CAR ,AND WHILE IN RESTAURANT FOR 45 MINUTES, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. BLACK SMOKE AND FLAMES CAME OUT FROM STEERING WHEEL AND THE WINDOWS BLEW OUT. NOTHING HAPPENED BEFORE SHE PARKED THE CAR. FROM INSIDE OF FIREWALL BACK WAS TOTALED, THE ENGINE WAS THE ONLY THING LEFT. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. MANUFACTURER HAS CALLED HER BACK, AND WAS WAITING FOR INVESTIGATION. DEALER SAID IT WAS KIA'S RESPONSIBILITY. *AK
ON APRIL 23 2005 THE FRONT END OF MY 2003 KIA SEDONA HIT A FORD EXPLORER. THIS ACCIDENT CAUSED $9,000 IN DAMAGE TO MY KIA AND SENT MYSELF, MY HUSBAND, AND MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO THE HOSPITAL. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF, AND NO ONE SEEMED TO KNOW WHY. I WOULD LIKE THIS INVESTIGATED. *AK
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER DATED 04/04/05 STATING THAT THE THROTTLE MAY FREEZE IN MY 2003 KIA SEDONA. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS SHORT HANDED AND SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME. I ALSO CALLED THE KIA CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON 04/26/05 AND STILL NO RESPONSE. OUR KIA SEDONA ACCOUNT IS UNDER MY HUSBANDS NAME, DONALD A DUDLEY. HE IS AN OVER THE ROAD TRUCK DRIVER AND IS AWAY FROM HOME ALOT. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO BE LISTENING TO ME OR WANTING TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. THE SERVICE REP STATES THAT KIA MOTORS IS AWARE OF THE NOISE BUT DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP GETS NEW '05 SEDONAS OFF THE DELIVERY TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! VAN WAS PARKED OUTSIDE IN DRIVEWAY . FIELD MOUSE GOT INTO TIMING BELT AREA, CAUSING BELT TO SKIP TIME WHEN STARTED. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF MICE GETTING INTO TIMING BELT AREA. POOR DESIGN IN TIMING BELT COVER.*AK
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY IDLED ON ITS OWN WHILE THE ON THE ROAD AND INCREASED THE SPEED. DRIVER HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO STOP VEHICLE. TAKEN TO DEALER FOR TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ACCELERATOR STICKS AND AUTO ACTS AS IF BOTH PEDALS ARE BEING PRESSED AT SAME TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 20 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE AUTO ON 5/31/03. ON 2/12/05 I CAME TO A STOP AND THE AUTO WAS IDLING SO FAST THAT IT WAS ROARING AND INCHING FORWARD WHEN I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD. ON 2/11/05 THIS CONDITION OCCURRED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. CAR HAS BEEN IDLING EXTREMELY FAST WITHOUT PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD THE CAR TOWED IN BY KIA ROADSIDE SERVICE BUT WAS TOLD THAT IF THEY COULD NOT CREATE THE PROBLEM THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO, KILL MYSELF BEFORE THEY TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? IF I HAD LET OFF THE BRAKE TODAY I COULD HAVE ENDED ACROSS A STREET, DOWN A HILL, AND INTO THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. KIA DID TOW MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT I'M NOT SATISFIED UNLESS THEY FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT SINCE I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SINCE DAY ONE BUYING THE CAR. I DROVE IT ABOUT 3 MILES AFTER BUYING IT AND HAD TO GO THRU A RED LIGHT AND AROUND A CORNER INTO A MAIN THOROUGHFARE BEFORE I GOT THE CAR STOPPED. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS HITTING THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. NOW, 30,000 MILES LATER AND 20 INCIDENTS LATER I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHILE BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE VEHICLE HIT A METAL POLE. CONSUMER SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION INTO DRIVE WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. VEHICLE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE AND LURCH FORWARD. IT RAN OVER A CONCRETE PARKING DIVIDER AND A SIDEWALK INTO A BRICK WALL. CONSUMER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP.*AK
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ONGOING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS GOING OUT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT BECAUSE YOU CANT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE CAR IS VERY DARK ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN OVER 5 TIMES FOR REPAIR AND IT'S STILL NOT WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (DASH BOARD LIGHTS). TWICE THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUSE WHICH THEY REPLACED BOTH TIMES. WITHIN THREE DAYS OF REPAIR THE LIGHTS WERE OUT AGAIN ON BOTH INSTANCES. THE THIRD TIME THEY SAID THE ELECTRICAL WIRING WAS LOOSE. THEY FIXED THE WIRING BUT APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK FOR REPAIR AND THEY SAID THE WIRING WAS LOOSE AGAIN AND THEY FIXED IT. AGAIN, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS BAD SO THEY REPLACED IT. THIS TIME THE LIGHTS STAYED ON ABOUT A MONTH AND NOW IT'S OUT AGAIN.*AK
THERE'S VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT IDLE OR DRIVING. DEALERSHIP/MANUFACTURER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION. *AK
I'VE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 KIA SEDONA. INITIALLY ONE OF THE GASKETS LEAKED AND HAD TO N BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE WHEN THERE WAS NO WEATHER EXTREMES. THE WHEEL BEARINGS WENT IN THE FRONT TIRE. RECENTLY THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING AND AFTER REPLACING ALL THE GASKETS IT COULDN'T GET PRESSURE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE BROKE, THE LUMBAR SUPPORT STOPPED WORKING. THE HOOD WOULDN'T CLOSE PROPERLY. AND ON TOP OF ALL THOSE THINGS I'VE HAD 2 BLOWOUTS TO THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WHEEL BUT I'M NOT SURE HE EVEN CHECKED BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE PROBLEMS HE HAD TO DEAL WITH. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIS. THE OCCUPANTS IN ALL THREE VEHICLES SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES FROM LOW SPEEDS, THE PEDAL INTERMITTENTLY WENT TO THE FLOOR. AS A RESULT EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE OCCURRED. *JB KIA REPLACED THE BRAKES AND THE CONSUMER HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A BRAKE PROBLEM SINCE. *SC
ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2004 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 P.M. MY HUSBAND AND SON WERE SCHEDULED TO ATTEND A MEETING. AS THEY APPROACHED OUR VEHICLE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, MY HUSBAND NOTICED THAT THE AUTOMATIC KEY DID NOT OPEN THE VEHICLE. HE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND FINALLY MANUALLY UNLOCKED THE DOOR. WHEN HE OPENED THE DOOR HE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN, DASH BOARD AND DRIVER'S DOOR WERE DAMAGED BY FIRE AND MELTED PLASTIC DAMAGED THE CARPET. THE WINDOWS AND INTERIOR WERE COVERED IN RESIDUE FROM THE SMOKE. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO SOUTHPOINT KIA WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WE RECEIVED A SLOW RESPONSE FOR GETTING A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD SEVERAL DAYS LATER THAT WE WOULD NEED TO COVER THE RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL THEY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. I WAS TOLD TO REPORT THE CLAIM TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY STATE FARM. STATE FARM DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A "RIGHT SEAT SWITCH - ELECTRICAL PROBLEM." AS OF TODAY, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE STATUS OF THIS CLAIM OR THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE FROM KIA ENGINEERS. IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE NOT HONORING THEIR 10 YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. OUR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED SEPTEMBER, 2003. *AK
I'VE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 KIA SEDONA. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS NEVER BEEN RIGHT. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED AT 13K MILES, AGAIN AT 24K MILES (FRONT & BACK) AND I'M SURE THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AT 40K MILES. AT 22K MILES I TOOK THE VAN TO THE SHOP FOR BRAKES ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT BOTH WHEEL BEARINGS, THE LEFT STRUT (THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE BOTH STRUTS SINCE IT WAS WARRANTY BUT IF I WAS PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS THEY WOULD RECOMEND REPLACING IN PAIRS) AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS GOING OUT (WHICH THE MANAGER SAID HE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR BY TELLING ME ABOUT). I HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED OF THE A/C TAKING FOREVER TO COOL DOWN, HAD A SENSOR REPLACED FOR THE GAS TANK AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SERVICE TO THE DRIVERS SEATBELT. THEN YESTERDAY DURING A STORM I WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE ABOUT 4 OR 5 INCHES DEEP WHICH SPLASHED WATER ON MY VAN FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND ABOUT 50 FEET DOWN THE ROAD THE VAN DIED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. UPON HAVING IT TOWED TO THE KIA DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIRFILTER HAD GOTTEN WET AND THAT THERE WAS "DISH SOAP" IN MY AIRFILTER WHICH WOULD BE CONSIDERED CUSTOMER DAMAGE AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT MORE NOISES COMING FROM THE FRONT AND A GRINDING NOISE WHEN I BEGIN ACCELERATION IN LOW GEARS. THEY REQUESTED I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE ON THOSE ISSUES. IN ADDITION, I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 4/23/03, WHEN I TRIED TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY SERVICE ON THE WHEEL BEARING, ETC WITH KIA THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ME EVER PURCHASING THIS VAN. APPARENTLY IN THEIR MINDS MY VAN WAS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE ON 2/27/03. THIS MEANS IF THERE IS EVER A RECAL OR SERVICE NOTICE SENT OUT I WOULD NOT RECEIVE THEM. IN ADDITION THEY HAD MY WARRANTY EXPIRATION DATE SET AT 2/27/03. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE CONCERNING THIS ISSUE AND WAS ASSURED THAT THIS WOULD IMMEDIATELY BE CORRECTED, HOWEVER YESTERDAY WHEN I CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE I WAS TOLD THAT THE VAN WAS STILL LISTED AS BEING SOLD TO ANOTHER PERSON. *AK
WE HAVE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH OUR KIA SEDONA. I'VE LOST COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD THE VAN INTO TWO DIFFERENT KIA DEALERSHIPS AND NEITHER ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WE PURCHASED THE VAN 12-2003 AND STARTING HAVING PROBLEMS 09-2004. WE WILL BE DRIVING THE VAN AND IT WILL START A BUCKING ACTION AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT IT SHOULD BE DOING. IF WE ARE LUCKY, WE CAN LET OFF THE GAS AND THE BUCKING ACTION WILL CEASE. THERE ARE OTHER TIMES WHEN WE LET OFF THE GAS AND IT CONTINUES TO BUCK. I'VE HAD A TIME WHEN THE BUCKING ACTION STARTED AND IT WAS SO SEVERE THAT OUR SEAT BELTS LOCKED. IT'S BAD WHEN YOUR SON IS IN THE BACK ASKING YOU WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR VAN. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY VAN DYING. I CAN BE SITTING AT A LIGHT, STOP SIGN OR EVEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT JUST QUITS. WE HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE HERE AND ARE NOT GETTING ANY RESOLUTIONS. I KNOW IT'S NOT JUST A "FEMALE CAR ISSUE" BECAUSE IT'S HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND AND FATHER WHILE DRIVING. I JUST WANT TO GET SOMETHING RESOLVED. I HAVE A FOUR YEAR OLD SON AND NINETEEN MONTH OLD SON AND SAFETY IS AN ISSUE FOR OUR FAMILY! I'VE TRIED JUST GOING THROUGH THE DEALERSHIPS AND KIA MOTORS AMERICA, INC. BUT STILL HAVE A VAN THAT DOESN'T RUN PROPERLY. EVEN TODAY AS I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH BOTH THE BOYS WITH ME THE VAN JUST DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THANK THE LORD ABOVE NOBODY WAS BEHIND ME. WE HAVE A 2003 KIA SEDONA EX THAT IS ONE YEAR OLD. IT HAD 20,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. ON 09/03/04, AFTER DROPPING OUR DAUGHTERS OFF AT SCHOOL 5 MINUTES AWAY, WE PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SMOKE POURED OUT OF VENTS. AFTER THAT, CAR STARTED ON ITS OWN WITH NO KEYS IN IT, PANIC STARTED SOUNDING CONSTANTLY AND THEN THE CAR STARTED ON FIRE BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS IN FULL FLAMES WITHIN ONE MINUTE. THE CHIEF OF THE GOSHEN FIRE DEPT. STATED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT STARTED IN THE DASHBOARD. WE ARE WAITING FOR COPY OF REPORT. WE CONTACTED THE KIA MANUFACTURER IN CA IMMEDIATELY AND SENT PICTURES (CAN BE FURNISHED). IT TOOK KIA ALMOST 2 WEEKS TO EVEN CONTACT US AFTER REPEATED CALLS TO THEM. THEY CALLED ON 09/14/04 AND SAID WE'D HAVE AN ANSWER BY 2 P.M. 09/15 AND THEY NEVER CALLED. TODAY, AFTER WE CALLED AND THREATENED TO SUE THEM (MSG. LEFT ON VOICEMAIL), THEY CALLED US RIGHT BACK TO TELL US THEY ARE DENYING OUR CLAIM AND THIS IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE CAR WITH A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT AN INSURANCE ISSUE BY ANY MEANS AND WE FEEL KIA SHOULD REPLACE THIS CAR. THEY DIDN'T EVEN ASK US ANY QUESTIONS OR WAIT FOR THE FIRE REPORT BEFORE DENYING OUR CLAIM. THE GRIEF THIS HAS CAUSED OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. *JB
DAD: A NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE MUFFLER/ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS OF 35-45 MPH AND IN HOT WEATHER, AND WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2004. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
WE'VE HAD MANY PROBLEMS W/ KIA SEDONA. THE BIGGEST HAS BEEN BRAKES/ROTORS. WE NOTICED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE & VIBRATION NOT EVEN A YEAR AFTER WE GOT IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL. CONTACTED DEALER & THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AT 13,000 MILES. NOT EVEN 4,000 MILES LATER THEY WERE BACK IN THE SAME CONDITION. TOOK THE VAN TO A BRAKE SERVICE CENTER (NOT THE DEALER) TO HAVE THE BRAKE PADS CHANGED & WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. I EXPLAINED TO THE MAN WHAT WE HAD BEEN THROUGH & HE FELT STRONGLY THAT IT WAS A DEFECT. CONTACTED OUR DEALER AGAIN AND TOOK THE VAN IN. WAS NOT EVEN THERE 10 MINUTES, THEY DID NOT WANT TO HEAR IT! WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR US! SO FAR, WE ARE TOLD WE CAN ONLY PURCHASE ROTORS DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUF. & SO FAR, THE ROTORS THAT HAVE BEEN ON THIS VAN FROM THE MANUF. HAVE NOT BEEN GOOD! I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER KIA SEDONA OWNERS & THEY HAVE EXPRESSED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLE!! WE ARE SORRY FOR TRYING A KIA! THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON APPROX. 3 WKS AGO AND STAYS ON ALL THE TIME THAT THE VAN IS ON! I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE'S A DEFECT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE BUT THEY HAD NONE IN STOCK SO HAD TO ORDER IT. WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG PROBABLY WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF WE'RE IN AN ACCIDENT BUT THEY DID NOT SEEM TO MIND LETTING US DRIVE AROUND LIKE THAT FOR AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIME. SAID THEY WOULD SEND A CARD IN THE MAIL WHEN THEY GET THE PART IN! THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW STARTED NOT WORKING! ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY IT WOULD JUST STOP! I TOLD THE SERVICE DEPT ABOUT THIS AT THE SAME TIME I TOOK THE VAN IN FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT & WAS TOLD, WELL ITS NOT DOING IT RIGHT NOW SO WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! THE WINDOW IS STILL GIVING US PROBLEMS BUT ABOUT EVERY DAY NOW INSTEAD OF EVERY OTHER! WE'VE TRIED TO TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN A FEW TIMES & WE CAN ONLY GET ABOUT HALF OF WHAT WE OWE ON IT! WE WERE EVEN TOLD ABOUT A WEEK AGO THAT THERE ARE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CLEARCOAT ON IT!
IN JULY 2004 A PERSON RAN A STOP SIGN, I COMPLETELY DROVE INTO HER WHOLE PASSENGERS SIDE WITH THE FRONT END OF MY 2003 KIA SEDONA. I ALSO HAD MY 2 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH WAS A CONCERN TO THE EMERGENCY PERSONNEL THAT RESPONDED TO THE SCENE. I SUSTAINED NECK INJURY THAT LATER HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO CORRECT AND MY SON WHO WAS IN HIS SAFETY SEAT IN THE REAR ALSO SUSTAINED BURN INJURY FROM HIS SAFETY SEAT HARNESS. I CONTACTED KIA AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO TEST THE AIR BAGS UNLESS THEY DEPLOYED THEM. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY WOULD NOT DO THIS. AGAIN IN AUGUST 2005 ANOTHER DRIVER RAN A STOP SIGN AND AGAIN I HIT THEM WITH FULL FRONT END TO THEIR DRIVERS SIDE. AGAIN THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING CONCERN WITH THE EMERGENCY PERSONNEL. I STILL CONTINUE TO HAVE PAIN FROM MY 2004 ACCIDENT AND I AM STILL IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO RECOUP SOME OF MY LOSSES. (WAGES, MEDICAL, TIME WITH MY SON).I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO LIST THE LOSS I HAVE THAT WILL NEVER BE RECOUPED. SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK INTO THIS, IT SEEMS TO ME AFTER READING ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIR BAGS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. I HAVE ALL THE POLICE REPORTS, ESTIMATES AND PICTURES. *TR
