Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2008-2011 Titan, Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and 2008-2009 Quest vehicles. The resin emblem on the driver's air bag cover may develop cracks and detach during air bag deployment.
Remedy Status
Dealers will replace the drivers airbag cover. Owner letters were mailed December 8, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are PC944, PC945, and PC946.
Air bag light flashing
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle when the vehicle drove over into an object on the roadway. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rear subframe needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
My steering column broke while driving down the road. Almost caused me to wreck
EVERY TIME I PUT GAS ON THE VEHICLE IN OVERFLOWS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AS SOON AS I BEGIN TO PUMP GAS, EVEN WHEN CAR IS EMPTY.
THE FIRST ISSUE IS THE A/C SYSTEM. WHEN THE SYSTEM IS BEING RUN ON THE MAXIMUM SETTING THERE IS A AUDIBLE TICKING SOUND. THIS SOUND HAS BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO A PART INSIDE THE AC UNIT THAT'S MADE OF PLASTIC THAT GOES BAD REALLY QUICK. THE RESULT OF THIS IS NO AC OR NO HEAT AND A VERY EXPENSIVE COST TO REPAIR. THE ENTIRE DASH HAS TO BE REMOVED TO ACCOMPLISH THE REPAIR. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE (BCM) BODY CONTROL MODULE. THIS MODULE CONTROLS ALL THE ACCESSORY ELECTRONICS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE (TPMS, DOOR LOCKS, HORNS, LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, WINDOWS, TRAILER HITCH ETC.) NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE HUNDREDS OF POST ONLINE ABOUT VARIOUS MODELS OF THEIR VEHICLES WITH BCM ISSUES. HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE HUNDREDS MANY THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES THAT DON'T HAVE WORKING ELECTRONICS BECAUSE NISSAN HASN'T DONE A RECALL AND THE PARTS OF TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE CUSTOMERS TO FIX. MY VEHICLE IS A 2011 WITH 58000 MILES AND NONE OF THE DOOR LOCKS WORK WHEN TRYING TO USE THE KEY FOB. THE TPMS COMES AND GOES WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. I'VE HAD THE SYSTEM REPROGRAMMED AND THE ISSUES STILL REMAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A THUMPING SOUND. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS LEANING LOW, AND THE STRUT AND SPRING ASSEMBLY BRACKET DETACHED FROM THE FRAME AND WAS PUSHED INTO THE WHEEL WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER (LEE NISSAN IN AUBURN, MAINE) AND HAS REMAINED THERE SINCE FEBRUARY 23, 2018 AWAITING A DECISION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON VARIOUS DAYS, A LOUD VIBRATING NOISE COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED ON BOTH SIDES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,600.
IN 2017 AT 60,062 MILES THE TAIL PIPE CORRODED FELL OFF. A REPAIR WAS MADE AT THE EAU CLAIRE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WERE THE CUT AND CLAMPED IT BACK TOGETHER. AGAIN AS I WRITE THIS THE TAIL PIPE HAS CORRODED AND FELL OFF. I HAVE SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN EAU CLAIRE AS WELL AS NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. CASE # 41900823. SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE FILING A DEALERSHIP COMPLAINT BUT REAL ISSUE FALLS ON NISSAN FOR BUILDING AN INFERIOR VEHICLE. A SAFETY THREAT IS POSED WHEN THE RUSTED EXHAUST COMPONENTS FALL OFF AND BECOME ROAD HAZARDS. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE BROKEN TAILPIPE DOESN'T CLEAR THE VEHICLE IT COULD GET CAUGHT CAUSING DAMAGE TO OTHER VITAL COMPONENTS LIKE BRAKE LINES AND/TIRES IF IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I THINK THE EARLY FAILURE OF THE TAILPIPE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE NOT ONLY DOES IT POSE A SAFETY THREAT, I HAVE READ THIS IS AN ISSUE AND NISAN SHOULD NOT BE PASSING THE COMPLAINTS TO ITS DEALERSHIP WHEN THIS IS A DESIGN AND/OR QUALITY OF MATERIALS USED ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND MANIFOLD GASKETS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
WHEN OPERATING A/C CLIMATE CONTROLS, THE HEATER DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR, BUT RATHER COLD AIR. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN ONE DAY, I HAD SET THE CONTROLS TO DE-FOG THE WINDSHIELD, ONLY TO MAKE THE SCENARIO MUCH WORSE DUE TO ABSENCE OF HOT AIR NEEDED TO DEHUMIDIFY THE INTERIOR. VISIBILITY FROM WINDSHIELD WAS GREATLY REDUCED AND COULD HAVE VERY EASILY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN NOTED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGH OTHER SOURCES. AFTER CALLING NISSAN TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE, THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT A RECALL HAD BEEN PERFORMED IN DECEMBER OF 2011. ALTHOUGH I CAN FIND NO EVIDENCE OF THE RECALL, OTHER THAN THROUGH NISSAN ITSELF, I CAN SAY THAT THE PART THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED IS NO LONGER IN OPERATION, AND CONTINUES TO BE A RISK.
THE TRUCK WILL NOT SHIFT FROM PARK. YOU HAVE TO STICK SOMETHING DOWN INTO THE COLUMN TO UNLOCK IT. BREAKS AND EVERYTHING ELSE WORK FINE IT'S SOMETHING IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT IS FAULTY AND WILL COST CLOSE TO 1000 TO REPLACE.
WINDOWS WON'T STAY UP WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT ALL THE WINDOWS GO DOWN VERY HARD TO KEEP THEM UP WHEN THE CAR IS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE THE WINDOWS GO DOWN HARD TO KEEP THE CAR LOCKED UP WHEN THE WINDOWS WON'T STAY UP.
MY PAINT ON MY HOOD AND THE TOP OF THE CAB ARE STARTING TO PEEL REALLY BAD I NEED SOME ONE TO TAKE A LOOK TRUCK LOOKS HORRIABLE. I NEED SOME ASSISTANT WITH THIS PROBLEM
VEHICLE SIDE OR CURTAIN AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A VIOLENT T-BONE COLLISION IN WHICH ANOTHER VEHICLE STRUCK THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRUCK AT MODERATE SPEED. HAD ANY PASSENGERS BEEN SEATED IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, SERIOUS INJURIES OR WORSE WOULD HAVE RESULTED FROM THE AIRBAG FAILURES.
AT 35000 THIS VEHICLE DEVELOPED A SEVERE VIBRATION/SHAKE AT 42-48MPH. NISSAN REPLACED FAILED REAR DIFFERENTIAL, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSFER CASE. SEVERE VIBRATION/SHAKING CONDITION IS STILL PRESENT. NISSAN IS NOT ATTEMPTING ANY FURTHER REPAIRS, CLAIMS NORMAL BODY FLEXING. *TR
TRUCK WAS PARKED AND WHEN WE RETURNED THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN. IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME TODAY (JAN.27,2015) MY HUSBAND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND WAS ASKED IF IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE.THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A FLUKE AND IT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN TILL TODAY. *TR

AT 60,000 MILES I NOTICED IT STARTED SMOKING WHEN YOU WOULD START IT UP AND THEN I NOTICED IT STARTED USING A LOT OF OIL SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD ONLY WANT ME TO BRING IT BACK TO THEM EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS TO SEE HOW MUCH OIL IT WAS USING AFTER THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO MESS WITH IT. I REALLY THINK THE 2011 MODEL NISSAN ARE LEMONS.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK I NOTICED SMOKE PULLED OVER INTO A LOT LOOKED UNDER TRUCK AND NOTICED FLUID EVERYWHERE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER. THEY STATED TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE SPLIT CAUSED FLUID TO LEAK OUT THAT CAUSED TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. TRUCK STILL UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AND REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. HAD A CHILD IN TRUCK AT THE TIME SO GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE. IF YOU GOOGLE NISSAN TITAN TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE YOU WILL FIND MANY POST ON THIS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THE DEFROST FAILED TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE ELECTRIC CONDENSER FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT AND DEFROST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
