I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BEARINGS ALREADY ONE TIME THIS YEAR AND NOW THE OTHER SIDE IS "ROARING" THIS IS AN '04 WITH 44000 MILES. THIS IS AGGRAVATING AND I AM SURE THAT I AM NOW CHANGING BRANDS. I HAVE 2 FORDS AND 2 GM'S AND I CONTINUALLY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE GM'S. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. AFTER SHE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS FLAT AND PIECES OF THE RIM ON THE GROUND. THE DEALER STATED THAT CORROSION TO THE RIM CAUSED THE FAILURE. AS OF DECEMBER 13, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 29,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED DURING A NORMAL BRAKING SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHERE THE DEALER TURNED AND GROUNDED THE ROTORS. THE REPAIR ONLY WORKED FOR 2500 MILES.
WHEN I TRY TO CRANK CAR SOMETIMES IT CUT BACK OFF, I HAVE TOO HOLD THE GAS PADDLE DOWN TO GET IT TO CRANK. THIS DON'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT A LOT WHEN IT IS HOT. *TR
SEVERAL ISSUES WITH A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX, IE. RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING 2X'S IN 1 YEAR, COMPUTER ISSUES (LOSS OF ABS, VARIABLE STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL), FALSE TIRE PRESSURE READINGS FROM COMPUTER, ETC. *NM
RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM CRACKED WHILE DRIVING AND DESTROYED THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION AND CRADLE OF VEHICLE. I AM THE THIRD PERSON THAT I KNOW OF THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED TO. *NM
COMPLETELY RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEM. ON SOME STARTS, VEHICLE WILL TURN OVER, AND CATCH, BUT WHEN RPM'S REV UP THEN COME BACK DOWN, CAR STALLS OUT. NO CONSEQUENCES, AS THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER STALLED WHILE DRIVING. ONCE THIS OCCURS, DRIVER MUST APPLY LIGHT THROTTLE WHEN TURNING VEHICLE OVER AGAIN, IN ORDER TO MAKE IT CATCH. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER, AS WELL AS GM CANADA, AND BOTH BELIEVE IT TO BE A COLD WEATHER START PROBLEM, HOWEVER, THIS HAS OCCURRED IN ALL 4 SEASONS, EVEN AFTER DRIVING CAR FOR A WHILE, THEN LEAVING FOR 10 MINUTES AND COMING BACK. CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING DRIVEN BY DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER FOR HIM TO TROUBLE SHOOT PROBLEM AND EXPERIENCE SYMPTOMS. VEHICLE HAS NOT LEFT US STRANDED, HOWEVER, PROBLEM IS FRUSTRATING AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. *JB
HVAC BLOWER MOTOR BECOMES INOPERATIVE OR WORKS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. ALSO, BLOWER SPEED MAY DROP OR BECOME VARIABLE FROM ITS SET POSITION. *JB
AFTER GOING THROUGH AUTOMATIC CAR WASH, NOTICED THAT THE CARPETING ON PASSENGER'S SIDE, BOTH FRONT AND BACK (JUST DEEP CARPETED AREAS, NOT UNDER SEATS) WERE COMPLETELY SATURATED WITH WATER. WATER WAS CLEANED OUT, AND CARPET DRIED. WHEN WE ADVISED DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT, THEY ADVISED THAT WE SHOULDN'T TAKE THE CAR THROUGH CAR WASH WITH UNDERBODY WASH. OUR CONCERN REGARDLESS OF THIS, IS THAT THIS QUICK TRIP THROUGH THE CAR WASH, CREATED THAT MUCH MOISTURE, MEANING THERE IS A SERIOUS BREACH OF THE BODY INTEGRITY UNDER THE CAR.*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHILD EATS STYROFOAM FROM THE SEAT AREA OF THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTED THE CONTACT TO DIVERT THE CHILD'S ATTENTION FROM THE AREA. THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO CREATE ANY TYPE OF DIVERSION WHILE DRIVING. SINCE THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO REMEDY, THE CONTACT IS PLANNING TO REPLACE THE CHILD SEAT WITH A NEW ONE. THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED BY EVENFLO, THE MODEL IS TRIUMPH #3591328 AND THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE IS 11/16/04.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE PRIOR TO STALLING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 10 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FIVE TIMES BUT THE REPAIRS HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE SENSOR MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE HAS BEEN CORRECTED TWICE, THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE PCM REFLASH WAS CORRECTED. THE FIFTH TIME, THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
SAME PROBLEM AS COMPLAINT # 10154674. INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS. START ENGINE COLD-STARTS 1 OUT OF 3 TIMES. DRIVE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES,TURN OFF & LET SIT FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN TRY TO RESTART-STARTS 1 OUT OF 10 TIMES. CAR TRIES TO START, BUT STALLS AS TACHOMETER REACHES HIGHEST POINT THEN RETURNS TO ZERO. WILL START IF GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN WHILE CAR IS INITIALLY TRYING TO START. DID COMPLAINT # 10154674 FIND A SOLUTION??? DEALER CHARGED ME $500 TO "CLEAN CARBON OUT OF ENGINE"-PROBLEM GOT EVEN WORSE AFTER THAT- I DON'T WANT TO KEEP "FIXING" THINGS THAT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IN DOWN IS -SHIFTING WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE. FIRST NOTICED ONLY ON OCCASION ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. IT ONLY HAPPENED IN THE PASSING GEAR. NOW IT'S HAPPENING IN ABOUT 2ND GEAR. WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE IT FEELS LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS DROP. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND OF COURSE, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE HAS STALLED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES AND HAS HAD TROUBLE IDLING AND HESITATION SINCE IT WAS NEW. ONCE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHERE I HAD TO RUN ACROSS A BUSY LANE OF TRAFFIC TO SAFETY AND POLICE NEEDED TO DISPATCH AN EMERGENCY TOW TRUCK. THE LAST TIME WITHIN A BUSY INTERSECTION. NEARLY CAUSING A CRASH. SINCE THE LAST INCIDENT I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING GM TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. THEY ARE RELUCTANT TO TAKE IT BACK. REVIEW OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *JB
FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR MY FOUR TIRES HAVE CONTINUALLY BEEN LOOSING AIR. EVERY FEW DAYS I HAVE TO FILL THEM UP. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE FINISH ON MY CHROME RIMS IS BUBBLING OFF (A CONDITION CALLED POROCITY) AND BREAKING THE SEAL ON THE TIRES. BECAUSE I HAVE OVER 36,000 MILES ON MY CAR (IT'S A 2004 MODEL) I AM BEING TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER, WHO WAS ADAMANT ABOUT HELPING ME BECAUSE OF MY MILEAGE. I THEREFORE WENT TO ANOTHER PONTIAC DEALER WHO RESEALED THE TIRES BUT MADE MATTERS WORSE. THEY STARTED LEAKING AT A FASTER RATE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS DEALER FOR OVER TWO MONTHS NOW, WHO ASSURES ME THAT HE IS DOING EVERYTHING HE CAN IN DEALING WITH THE MANUFACTURER OF THE RIMS. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, HE WILL NOT EVEN RETURN MY CALLS. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A CAR THAT IS TWO YEARS OLD AND HAS THE FINISH ON THE CHROME RIMS BUBBLING OFF AND CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THESE RIMS COST $600. EACH AND I DO NOT THINK THAT A CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT WAS PUT ON THEIR CAR. YOU CANNOT TELL ME THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. EVERY TIME THE TIRES ARE LOW, MY STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND I CANNOT HANDLE THE CAR. WHAT IS MY RECOURSE? *JB
I HAVE A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT1 AND WE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH A RATTLING NOISE IN THE FRONT END SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE, WE HAD THE HALF SHAFT REPLACED AND THAT HELPED THE LOOSE FEEL BUT THE LOOSE SOUNDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END PERSISTS. THE CAR FEELS STABLE BUT SEEMS TO DRIFT OFF TRACK A LOT NEEDING A LOT OF CORRECTION ON STRAIGHT ROADS. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN NEXT WEEK. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE CAR SHAKE BADLY ALSO, SEEMS COMMON. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT A FAILURE OF THE MIDDLE REAR SEAT BELT. WHILE LOCKING THE BRAKES BEFORE STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK THE REAR FACING CAR SEAT IN PLACE. ON THE POINT OF IMPACT, INSTEAD OF LOCKING THE SEAT BELT, IT RELEASED TOO MUCH WEBBING, AND THE CAR SEAT OVERTURNED. THE CAR SEAT FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN WITH THE CHILD IN IT. THE SEAT BELT REMAINED BUCKLED. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE INVOLVED IN A CRASH THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT HEADLIGHT AND BUMPER. THERE WERE NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SEAT BELTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE.*AK
DT:THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A ROADSIDE BARRIER WITH A FRONTAL IMPACT. HE WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS INTACT BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK UPDATED 1/4/2006 - *NM
CAR WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. ATTEMPTED TO MOVE TO LEFT LANE TO PASS A VEHICLE. NOTICED DIFFICULTY MOVING STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF HIGHWAY TO INVESTIGATE. DISCOVERED THAT STEERING WHEEL COULD EASILY MOVE TO THE RIGHT BUT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN LEFT FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT AT ANY SPEED. THERE WAS NO NOISES COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND IT APPEARED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. TOWED CAR TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. REPLACED RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. OLD PART IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. *NM
ABS ACTIVATED AT NORMAL STOP AT VERY SLOW SPEED. CONTINUED AT EVERY TOUCH OF THE BRAKE FOR NEARLY 2 MILES, EVEN WHEN BARELY TOUCHING THE BRAKE. DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. NOT OCCURRED SINCE. PONTIAC DEALER CAN FIND NO PROBLEM, NO CODE, HOWEVER I'M CONCERNED WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *JB
ON 8/20/05, THE TRACTION AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR, TURNING IT OFF, AND TURNING IT BACK ON, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. BETWEEN THAT TIME AND 8/23/05, THIS OCCURRED 5 MORE TIME. ON 8/23/05, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP ON THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE USING CRUISE CONTROL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS CODES C0187 & C0197, AND REPLACED A FAULTY YAW SENSOR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10/19/05 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AFTER OCCURRING 3 TIMES WITHIN A 2 DAY PERIOD. THE DEALERSHIP DROVE IT AND IT OCCURRED TWICE, BUT THEY CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE NOW HAD THE CAR FOR 6 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP IS JIM HUDSON, AND THEIR PHONE # IS 803-783-0110. *NM
STEERING WOBBLES, WHEN BRAKES APPLIED STEERING WOBBLES EVEN MORE, CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO GO IN ANY DIRECTION IT CHOOSES , WAS TOLD IN OCT 05 TWO REAR WHEELS HAD FLAT SPOTS, REPLACED 4 NEW WHEELS AND 4 NEW TIRES IN FEB 06, PROBLEM STILL THERE TOOK TO TIRE KINDOM WHERE WHEELS AND TIRES WHERE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THAT INNER TIRE RODS WERE BAD, TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM BUT NEVER TOOK TIRES OFF OR CHECKED TIRE RODS, NOW BEING TOLD BY DEALER EVERYTHING IS TIGHT, STILL WOBBLES , STILL WANTS TO DRIVE TO THE LEFT, TO THE RIGHT ANY WHICH WAY IT WANTS TO GO, NOW BEING TOLD ROTORS NEED TO BE DONE, OH YEAH WHEN IT RAINS THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR GETS DRENCHED, CLICKS FROM LEFT AND RIGHT TURN, BUT DEALER SAYS NOTHING WRONG. *JB
AFTER THREE TRIPS TO THE PONTIAC DEALER, MY PROBLEM WITH STEERING SYSTEM HAS NOT BE CORRECTED. THE CAR MAKES A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN TURNING RIGHT AT LOW SPEEDS. ALSO, WHEN GOING OVER MULTIPLE BUMPS, IT FEELS AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE CAR. I DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE --- ESPECIALLY WHEN GENERAL MOTORS TELLS ME THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS ACKNOWLEDGED A STEERING SYSTEM PROBLEM ON 2004/05/06 GRAND PRIX'S, CHEVY IMPALAS AND BUICK LACROSSE'S. *JB
WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, IT MAKES A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AND AM HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE TRANSMISSION.*MR LATE LAST YEAR, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A NEARLY FLAT SERVICE, THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF PARK, HITTING AND DAMAGING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. (LAWYER ON BEHALF OF OWNER OF VEHICLE). *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THE ABS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON REPEATEDLY. THE ON BOARD ROADSIDE ASSISTANTS TOLD HER THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY WHILE TRAVELING LONGER DISTANCES. *NM
MY 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY DEALER ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FOUND WHEN THEY TEST DROVE THE CAR. I AM STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM MORE FREQUENTLY. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS AND SERVICE BULLETINS I SEE THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CAR. WHY HASN'T ANYTHING BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM? ALSO, LAST AUGUST (2004) I WAS DRIVING AROUND A SLIGHT BEND WHICH MERGES ONTO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND MY CAR WENT INTO A COMPLETE SPIN. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR AND SPUN NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE CRASHING INTO A HILL OF GRASS AT WHICH POINT THE CAR STOPPED AND SHUT DOWN. THIS WAS APPARENTLY A "DRIVER ERROR." *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. SHE CAME HOME ON SUNDAY NIGHT AND WHEN PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY HER HUSBAND GOT OUT TO DO SOMETHING. WHEN THE CONSUMER LEFT THE VEHICLE HER SON WENT FROM THE BACK SEAT TO THE FRONT SEAT AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY BEFORE SHE COULD DO ANYTHING TO HER SON. HOWEVER, HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO THROW A TRUCK TIRE BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER LIVED IN FRONT OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THREE DEATHS OR INJURIES. THE CONSUMER WAS HOLDING THE KEY IN HER HAND WHEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. CHECKING LATER, SHE FOUND THAT ANY TIME THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION THE GEAR SHIFTER MOVED EVEN WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE. SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED THAT WAY. SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER STATED THAT THERE WAS A CERTAIN PERIOD OF VIN TIME WHEN THAT CAME OUT, AND HE COULD NOT ALTER SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT BY THE BOOK.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. EACH OF THESE PROBLEMS WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS 04V287000, 03V331000, 04V299000 AND 05V046000. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS DUE TO VIN. THE BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 7/5/05. I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING A CAR. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT MY CAR JUST KEPT GOING AND GOING. IT MUST HAVE CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 50 FEET. I FEEL IF MY BRAKES WOULD HAVE WORKED I WOULDN'T HAVE HIT THE CAR. IT'S LIKE MY BRAKES ONLY PARTLY WORKED. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 3 MONTHS AGO AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I WILL LOOK INTO THAT. ANOTHER THING, I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ENGAGED AND BROKE MY WINDSHIELD.

I BOUGHT A 2004 GRAND PRIX WITH AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT STARTED AROUND 20,000 MILES WHERE THE CAR WOULD HESITATE ON ACCELERATION TO THE POINT OF NO REACTION. THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED TO TWO INCIDENTS OF THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF IN THE PASSING LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE CAR HESITATED AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITH IN SECONDS AND WITHOUT WARNING. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK OR THE WEATHER OUTSIDE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST ACTION THEYTRIED WAS TO REPROGRAMED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, THEN I HAD A RECORDING DEVICE ATTACHED AFTER THE PROBLEM HAPPENED TO THE TECHNICIAN. THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY ERASED THE COMPUTER RECORDED SO THEY REPLACE THE ENTIRE CONTROL MODULE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TEST DRIVEN FOR HUNDREDS OF MILES AND NOW IT STILL HAS THE PROBLEM BAD ENOUGH TO STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH EVERYTHING IN THE CAR SHUTTING OFF. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE BUT LIKELY AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME, PASSING ON THE HIGHWAY.

2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. IMMEDIATE FAILURE OF POWER STEERING (IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A TURN WHILE DRIVING= SCARY!); ELECTRIC/ ELECTRONIC FAILURE ALSO. THEN, AFTER A COMPLETE STOP, AND KEY OFF IGNITION, THE CAR RESTARTS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENS. THE CAR WHEN TWICE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY THINK THAT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A CAR! THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER, AND VERY DANGEROUS! IF SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS OCCURRENCE, INVESTIGATION WILL NOT CONCLUDED TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT MORE LIKELY TO THE LOST OF CONTROL OF THE DRIVER! IT HAPPENS 3 TIMES TO US ALREADY, AND ONCE WITH A GRAND-PRIX RENTAL. PLEASE CHECK IT.
I PURCHASED A 2004 PONTIAC GRAN DPRIX GT2 IN JUNE OF THAT SAME YEAR. ONE WEEK LATER THE REPAIRS BEGAN. THE MOST SCARY OCCURRING ON THE DATE MENTIONED ON THIS COMPLAINT, MAY 26, 2005, ELEVEN MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. THE CAR HAD NO POWER WHATSOEVER, NO STEERING, NO GAS, NO LIGHTS, NOTHING. I THANK GOD WE ARE ALIVE. THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I RENTED A CAR AT MY OWN EXPENSE FOR EIGHT WEEKS. WE DID NOT STEP FOOT IN THE VEHICLE FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME. FOR FINANCIAL REASONS I SLOWLY BEGAN DRIVING MY CAR AGAIN. THERE WERE REPAIRS BEFORE THAT EVENT AS WELL AS AFTERWARDS. THESE INCLUDE THE BRAIN, TRANSMISSION, BRAKES, AXLE, WHEEL BEARINGS, STEERING, SUNROOF, FUEL INJECTORS, AND SAFETY BELTS. *JB
I READ THE COMPLAINT ABOUT THE VEHICLE UNDER BODY BEING SOAKED FROM A DRIVER TAKEN IT THROUGH THE AUTOMATIC CAR WASH. I JUST NOTICED THAT MY CLOTHES LEFT ON THE SEAT IN PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND BACK. THAT ALSO THE CARPET AND MATS WERE SATURATED AS WELL WAS MY CLOTHES. SO I OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER COMPLAINANT. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN YET BUT I AM GOING TO SEE IF SOMETHING CAN BE DONE. NOT SURE OF EXACT INCIDENT DATE. DURING HEAVY RAIN WATER LEAKS INTO THE PASENGER SIDE FLOOR AND UNDER THE CARPET. IT SEEMS TO BE COMING IN THROUGH THE FRESH AIR INTAKE.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

LOST CONTROL OF STEERING. SINCE REACHING ABOUT 20000 MILES ON MY 2004 GRAND PRIX, I NOTICED A ?CLICKING? NOISE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. IT WAS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEED, E.G. IN A PARKING LOT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY TIGHTENED THE STEERING AND THAT GM WAS AWARE AND THAT?S WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO AND THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS NOT TOLD THAT I SHOULD CONTINUE TO BRING IT IN. THE NOISE DIMINISHED FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THEN RETURNED. IT HAS BEEN MAKING THAT NOISE NOW FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. YESTERDAY, I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED OFF AT AN EXIT RAMP. AS I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN ONTO THE RAMP THE STEERING LOCKED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CAR SPUN AROUND IN CIRCLES UNTIL IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. IT SEEMED AS THROUGH THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING EFFECTIVELY. THE CAR SHUT OFF. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE 2 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SHAFT WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR IS FINE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE SHAFT PROBABLY WOULDN?T HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO SPIN LIKE THAT?THAT IT WAS DRIVER ERROR.*AK

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANES HIGHWAY HEADING HOME AT 2:30P.M. AS I PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT, ALL THE LIGHS IN THE VEHICLE FLASHED AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT OUT, INCLUDING MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED FOR TWO DAYS OR LONGER IT WILL NOT START. I HAVE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY EVERY TIME TO GET IT STARTED. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS THE RADIO AND DISCONNECTED IT BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *JB

A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2004 GRAND PRIX THE BACK PASSANGER DOOR STARTED MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN OPENED AND CLOSED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A PLASTIC PIECE ON THE HINGE THAT WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOW A YEAR LATER AND THE SAME DOOR IS MAKING THE SAME CLICKING NOISE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED ME THAT THE HINGES JUST NEEDED CLEANED (? NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE). I'VE HAD THE CAR BACK FOR A WEEK AND IT'S MAKING THE NOISE AGAIN. GUESS WHO'S WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED?*AK

RECENTLY WHEN LEAVING WORK; ENGINE RELATIVELY COLD, HAD TO ACCELERATE TO ENTER HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND ENGINE STALLED AND DIED. DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE SINCE IT IS EXTREMELY INTERMITTENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED. THE MECHANIC STATED THE WHEELS WERE CORRODED AND WOULD NOT SEAL THE TIRE IN PROPERLY, CAUSING THEM TO LOOSE AIR CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
MY 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP COMP G HAS UNSTABLE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN DRIVING, THEY "BOUNCE" AND IT IS REALLY DISTRACTING TO ME AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. I BELONG TO A GRAND PRIX CAR CLUB AND A MEMBER WITH THE SAME CAR AS MINE EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEMS. A FIX AND A RECALL IS NEEDED ASAP. THE CONSTANT VIBRATION OF THE HEADLIGHTS IS VERY DISTRACTING AND WILL EVENTUALLY START CAUSING PROBLEMS FOR DRIVERS. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE COMPLAINT, I HAVE ANOTHER. I HAVE FOUND A TOTAL OF 3 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE YET I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM PONTIAC NOR MY DEALERSHIP. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE PEACE OF MIND THAT IF SOMETHING IS RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS TAKING STEPS TO CORRECT IT ASAP. INSTEAD, I AM FINDING OUT THIS INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET AND WILL NEED TO TAKE STEPS TO ENSURE MY CAR IS SAFE. *JB
