OCCASIONALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD. SHIFTING BACK TO PARK AND THEN DRIVE AGAIN DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IF THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY DROP INTO GEAR AND THE CAR WILL DANGEROUSLY SURGE FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SO FAR ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 500 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH OTHER 2019 RAM 1500 OWNERS AS THERE ARE FORUM POSTS AND COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ALREADY. I ALSO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE OCCURRING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MORE THAN TWICE WITHOUT WARNING. BENNY BOYD GONZALES CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (3698 US-183, GONZALES, TX 78629, (830) 445-4001) INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO REMAIN WITH THEM TO BE TEST DRIVEN BECAUSE A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE WAS NOT LOCATED. A BUY BACK OFFER WAS STATED BY THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130. *DT *TR
WHEN THE TRUCK IS PUT INTO "D" DRIVE FROM PARK, IT WILL NOT MOVE. SOME TIMES IT WILL DO IT IN "R" REVERSE. IF YOU PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL ENOUGH IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD ABRUPTLY. IN SOME CASES VERY ROUGH. DEALER AND FCA ARE ACTING LIKE THEY NO NOTHING ABOUT THIS.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT MULTIPLE TIMES. WOULD WORK AFTER RESTARTING TRUCK THEN GO OUT AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THEN WENT BACK OUT AGAIN AFTER SERVICING. ALSO HAVE OTHER SERVICE MESSAGES FOR SUSPENSION AND LANE CONTROL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN AFTER BEING SERVICED TWICE. TRUCK IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR THE 4TH TIME WITH MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT THROWS NEW CODES EVERYTIME. LASTEST CODES: IMPLAUSIBLE DATA RECEIVED FROM TCM, CALIBRATION MISMATCH, IMPLAUSIBLE DATA RECEIVED FROM RF HUD AND FROM RADIO, BATTERY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW THRESHOLD, IMPLAUSIBLE DATA RECEIVED FROM CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, EDU NOT INITIALIZED, IMPLAUSIBLE/MISSING TRANSMISSION MESSAGE.
HAVING SAME PROBLEMS AS SEVERAL OTHER BUYERS.... I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND HAD IT BUILT IN DEC OF 2018. SINCE THEN, I HAVE EXPERIENCED 10 OR MORE INSTANCES OF WHERE I PUT THE VEHICLE IN D (DRIVE) AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. I RETURNED TO P (PARK) AND THEN BACK TO D, AND IT STILL WON'T MOVE. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, AND THEN PROCEED TO PUT IT IN D, AND SOMETIMES IT WILL THEN MOVE. IN ALL CASES, I WAS ON FLAT PAVEMENT / BLACK TOP. PURCHASED TRUCK IN DEC 2018. ABOUT A MONTH IN AROUND 2000 MILES STARTED EXPERIENCING THE STEERING WHEEL STICKING AROUND THE 11:00 POSITION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I DRIVE 1500 TO 2000 MILES A MONTH AND AFRAID I AM GOING TO OVERCORRECT ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SPOKE WITH DEALERSHIP AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM. HAD THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF ON THE BATTERY CABLE AND THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE EITHER. FEELS LIKE A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING LINKAGE. I HAVE ALSO STARTED NOTICING WHICH FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK IS STARTING TO FLOAT SIDE TO SIDE AND AM HAVING TO CORRECT TO KEEP IT IN THE LANE. THIS TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE LANE ASSIST ON IT SO THAT COULD NOT BE THE PROBLEM.
VEHICLE GETS STUCK WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE AS IF ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED, THOUGH IT IS NOT. TAPPING THE GAS PEDAL THEN SENDS THE VEHICLE JOLTING FORWARD IN AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE MANNER.
POWER STEERING ON THE VEHICLE FAILED TO WORK WITH ONLY 1,000 MILES SINCE PURCHASED.
BRAND NEW 2019 RAM 1500 490 MILES ,ABOUT 3 TIMES ( OWNED IT A MONTH) WHEN TRUCK IS SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE ,PARKING BRAKE IS OFF ( AUTO PARK BRAKE DISABLED AS WELL IN SETTINGS } THE TRUCK WILL NOT MOVE ,FOOT IS OFF BRAKE, FOOT OFF OF GAS ,IF I SHIFT INTO PARK THEN DRIVE AGAIN AND GIVE IT SOME GAS IT WILL ,LUNGE /JERK/JUMP IN FIRST GEAR AND FLY FORWARD LIKE A BRAKE STAND .SO I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE , FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE ,SAME EXACT SYMTOMS AND RESULTS .SOMEONE SOON ,WILL BE KILLED BY THIS ,WHEN THEY GET OUT TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE TRUCK IS BLOCKED AND IT RUNS THEM OVER. SO FAR ALL THE PEOPLE IVE TALKED TO THE DEALERS HAVE NO FIX ,ITS A BAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR 2019, THEY TURN PEOPLE AWAY ,WHEN THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ,AND IT WON'T THROW A CODE. A TSB OR RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED !!!!!!! ASAP.

AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10MIN IN TOWN (30-50MPHS) THE POWER STEERING WARNING WENT OFF AND POWER STEERING FAILED IN TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 90 SEC BEFORE RETURNING.
THE BREAKING PART OF THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM FLASHES A WARNING TO BREAK IN AND ALARM GOES OFF TYPICALLY WHEN I AM CROSSING A BRIDGE. WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ON THE INTERSTATE, THE BRAKING SYSTEM APPLIED THE BRAKES UNEXPECTEDLY AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE WERE NO OBSTACLES ARE CARS ANYWHERE AROUND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO AVOID WHEN THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY APPLIED THE BRAKES. A CYMA ALMOST REAR ENDED ME BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT 4 DAYS IN THE SHOP WITH NO SOLUTION ARE NO APPARENT CAUSE.
THE WINDOW STICKERS SAID 19 MPG . REALLY I ONLY DO 11 ON MY TRICK
EVEN THOUGH THE DEFROST SYSTEM SEEMS TO PUT OUT PLENTY OF HEAT THE FAN OR THE WAY THE WINDSHIELD IS DESIGNED, WHEN IT IS COLD OUT AND/OR I AM TRAVELING AT A DECENT SPEED THE DEFROSTER DOES NOT KEEP THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR. IT AFFECTS APROX. THE LAST COUPLE OF INCHES THAT THE WIPERS REACH AND THEN EVERYTHING ABOVE THAT. THIS THEN AFFECTS THE AUTO WIPING OPTION. THERE IS A RECALL FOR BASICALLY THIS EXACT ISSUE NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 19V051000 BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY MODEL OF VEHICLE. IT AFFECTS THE RAM 1500 THAT HAVE THE 12" SCREEN BUT DO NOT HAVE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. MY VEHICLE HAS THE 12' SCREEN BUT DOES HAVE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. THE DATE LISTED BELOW IS JUST A GENERAL DATE. THIS ISSUE WOULD HAPPEN WHEN IT WAS RAINING/SNOWING AND IT WAS COLD OR CLOSE TO FREEZING TEMPS
A ROARING SOUND AND VIBRATION BETWEEN 10 AND 60MPH. ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS.
STEERING SEEMS TO STICK TO THE LEFT AT 40 MPH AND UP.ALMOST STICKS AT 10-11 OCLOCK..MUST BE FORCEFULLY RETURNED TO CENTER LINE.SEEMS TO OVER AND UNDER STEER NEEDS TO BE CONSTANTLY MANAGED.IT IS DANGEROUS.
MILD TO EXTREME VIBRATION FROM REAR OF THE VEHICLE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE STEERING WHEEL SEATS AND GAS PEDAL AT ANY SPEED BUT WORSENS AS SPEED INCREASES. WAS TOLD AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO DEALER THAT EVERYTHING IS WITHIN SPEC. AND THEY WILL NO LONGER PURSUE THE ISSUE FURTHER. FILED LEMON LAW CLAIM AND WAS AWARDED COMPENSATION AND WAS ALLOWED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE. IN MY OPINION THE VEHICLE IS PROGRESSIVELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME SUBJECT THROUGHOUT MULTIPLE FORUMS (OVER 932 PAGES ON THE ONE I AM A MEMBER OF ALONE) AND WE ARE ALL BEING TOLD THE SAME LINE..FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES..WE DON'T WARRANTY TIRES. *TR
THE VEHICLE INITIALLY HAD A REPORTED STEERING FAILURE TWICE ON DECEMBER 19TH. THIS WAS REPORTED TO NHTSA UNDER FILE 1162423. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE SAME DAY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THIS OCCURRED. THEN, AGAIN ON DECEMBER 30TH THIS OCCURRED AGAIN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN AND THE DEALER WAS CONCERNED OVER SAFETY ISSUE AND OFFERED A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING, THE POWER STEERING TURN OFF AND AGAIN THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED IN RED " POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED".. THIS WAS DISPLAYED ON THE PRIOR OCCASIONS.... WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY TO THE DEALER THIS LOSS OF STEERING OCCURRED ANOTHER 3 TIMES INTERMITTENTLY WITH ANOTHER WARNING "SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION IMMEDITALEY".... KEEP IN MIND THAT WHEN THE POWER STEERING LEAVES WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING VERY LITTLE CONTROL REMAINS. SINCE THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALERS AND ALSO TO NHTSA NUMEROUS TIMES FROM VARIOUS GEOGRAPHIC AREAS SINCE AUGUST 2018 I AM SURPRISED THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED AND OR A REMEDY THROUGH THE DEALERS.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel locked up. The instrument panel also turned off inadvertently. The vehicle became unresponsive, causing the contact to drive off road. The contact was able to get the vehicle started after removing and replacing. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 400.
STARTED TRUCK IN A PARKING LOT AND STARTED TO PULL AWAY, WENT TO TURN AND TRUCK WENT STRAIGHT TILL IT INDICATED TO 'SERVICE POWER STEERING.' ONCE I REALIZED IT HAD LOST ALL POWER STEERING I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT HOME WITH MUCH EFFORT TO MAKE TURNS. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT SO WAS ABLE TO USE MULTIPLE LANES TO MAKE TURNS. WHILE DRIVING HOME HOWEVER, ABOUT 65 MPH THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON PULLED THE TRUCK HARD TO THE RIGHT AND CENTERED BACK UP, THEN QUIT AGAIN AFTER THREE MILES.
VEHICLE STEERING STICKS DURING LEFT TURNS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROX 1 HOUR, DURING LEFT TURNS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, 65+ MPH, THE STEERING WILL HOLD AT APPROXIMATELY THE 10 O'CLOCK POSITION RESULTING IN UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. DUE TO THE REQUIREMENT OF HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND APPROX 1 HR DRIVE TIME, DEALERSHIPS WON'T TAKE THE EFFORT TO BE ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WITHOUT REPLICATION BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND RAM CUSTOMER SERVICE CONSIDER IT A NON ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO THE GROUND RECALL ALREADY ISSUED FOR THE 2019 RAMS. THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS ALSO REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OTHER 2019 RAM OWNERS IN ONLINE FORUMS. EFFORTS TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND RAM CUSTOMER SUPPORT HAVE BEEN UNSATISFACTORY. THIS IS NOT A MINOR PROBLEM AND COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS DAMAGE OR LOSS OF LIFE ON THE ROAD. JUST BECAUSE A PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPLICATED IN A SHORT TEST DRIVE DOES NOT EQUATE TO THEIR NOT BEING A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON THESE VEHICLES.*DT CONSUMER HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED AND THE STEERING PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS YOU HAVE TO APPLY SOME EXTRA FORCE TO GET IT TO RETURN TO CENTER AS WELL AS SOMETIMES IT WILL HOLD MOMENTARILY AND JERK BACK ON ITS OWN. THE CONCERN IS THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF IT AND THE POTENTIAL OVER/UNDER STEER AT HIGHER SPEEDS. ONCE THE PROBLEM PRESENTS ITSELF AFTER LONGER PERIODS OF DRIVING IT WILL ALSO THEN DO IT OCCASIONALLY AT SLOWER SPEEDS AS WELL. THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY CHIMES OR MESSAGES THAT APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT HAS BEEN IN TO SERVICE BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS ISSUE HAS ONLY APPEARED DURING LONGER ROAD TRIPS AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS WITH LONG LEFT TURNS SO IT IS UNLIKELY A DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO REPLICATE IT ON A SHORT TEST DRIVE. I KNOW FROM THE FORUMS THAT PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE HAD IT RESOLVED WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK. *JB
I STARTED MY 2019 RAM 1500 IN A PARKING LOT AND SHIFTED TO DRIVE, I STARTED TO SLOWLY MOVE FORWARD WHEN I HEARD A ENGINE REVVING A COUPLE TIMES THEN ACCELERATE. I STOPPED LOOKED AROUND AND SAW NO VEHICLES IN MY PROXIMITY (OPEN SHIPPING DOCK). THEN I REALIZED THE SOUNDS WERE COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I STARTED TO MOVE AGAIN AND THE NOISES PERSISTED. I THOUGHT IT WOULD GO AWAY SO I PROGRESSED ONTO A PUBLIC STREET FROM THE SHIPPING DOCK PARKING LOT AND THE NOISES CONTINUED. I WAS FORCED TO PULL TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD AND CYCLE THE IGNITION. IT TOOK TWO CYCLES OF THE IGNITION TO MAKE THE ISSUE CEASE. THE SECOND ISSUE WAS A ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL FAILURE THAT RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE HAVING ZERO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE GETTING TOWED TO THE SERVICING DEALER. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH A LOT OF 55MPH CURVY ROADS AND THIS THROTTLE FAILURE RESULTED IN A DISABLED VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT BY SURROUNDING TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 20 MILE COMMUTE WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AT A SPECIFIC AREA OF THE TURNS. DOES NOT HAPPEN WHILE MAKING RIGHT TURNS. THE LONGER YOU DRIVE THE MORE FREQUENT THE PROBLEM SHOWS UP. WHEN YOU FIRST START THE TRIP DOES NOT SHOW UP RIGHT AWAY TEN AFTER 18-20 MILES WILL START TO SHOW THE PROBLEM AT LOWER SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-40 MPH. DUE TO WHAT I CONSIDER AN UNSAFE CONDITION IN THE STEERING I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE OCCURS. THE SERVICE MANGER TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE FOR 20 MILES AND DID EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE WITH STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT FOUND ANYTHING AFTER 3 DAYS AND IS IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER.
TODAY AT 8:45 AM MY VEHICLE LOST ITS STEERING WHILE BACKING IN A PARKING LOT. THEN AGAIN WHILE ENTERING STATE ROUTE 12 IN CLAYTON, NY. THE STEERING RETURNED AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THEN WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE STEERING AGAIN FAILED. I STOPPED AND PULLED VERY HARD AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY TURNED ONTO THE NEXT ROAD ON MY RIGHT. I DROVE FOR SEVERAL MILES WITH THE STEERING RETURNING OCCASIONALLY. DODGE RAM DEALER WAS ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY AND SLOWLY ARRIVED AT DEALER. THEY ARE CHECKING IT NOW. THE VEHICLE IS A 2019 WITH SLIGHTLY OVER 9000 MILES. THIS EVENT WAS EXTREMELY VERY CLOSE TO SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
REPORTED THIS YESTERDAY AND UNABLE TO UPDATE IN THE SYSTEM. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER AFTER THE 2 FAILURES... UNABLE TO REPLICATE DEALER PROCESS A RECALL AND AN UPDATE. NOT CERTAIN IF THIS STEERING ISSUE IS RESOLVED. FILED UNDER COMPLAINT NUMBER 11162423 DATED 12/19/18 *DSY
THE CLUSTER SCREEN WENT OUT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT JUST 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING OUR BRAND NEW TRUCK.
THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SELF ACCELERATING AND CAUSING ME TO SLAM ON BREAKS TO AVOID ACCIDENTS. IT WAS FIRST HAPPENING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WENT 50-70MPH BY ITSELF. THEN IT HAPPENED TODAY ON THE CITY STREET AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT WAS CLAIMED TO BE A SENSOR PROBLEM, BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY AND I BARELY MADE IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAS MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND THEN WILL SELF ACCELERATE AND ONLY ALLOW YOU TO BRAKE. I BOUGHT THIS NEW CAR IN DECEMBER 2018. THE THREE DAYS AFTER, I REALIZE THE CAR WAS MAKING DEEP LOUD HUMMING/RUMBLING NOISE "ZZZZZZ" SOUND WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 10MPH-40MPH. IT GETS WORST LAST NIGHT, THE HUMMING SOUND CAME EVERY 15 SECONDS, AND LAST ABOUT 5 SECOND OR LONGER. THE SOUND WAS LIKE THE TIRES GOING TO FELL OFF THE CAR/A JET LEFT OR A MOTORCYCLE PASSES BY. I WENT TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES SINCE THIS PROBLEM APPEARS. THEY SAID THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD, THEY GAVE ME 2 REPORTS, AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM, SO THEY REFUSE TO EXCHANGE OR RETURN THIS PROBLEM CAR. I FELT VERY VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THE DEALER TOLD ME "IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE NOTHING SHOWS ON THE PANEL, NO WARNING LIGHT." BUT I THINK BECAUSE OF NOTHING SHOWS ON THE PANEL IS THE SCARIEST PART. IT IS A NEW CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON THE NICE AND FLAT ROAD. I DIDN'T TURN THE RADIO OR AC ON. I TURN OFF THE INSIDE AIR CIRCULATION. I CLOSED ALL THE WINDOWS WITHOUT A GAP. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AND IT STARTS HUMMING. WHEN DRIVING SPEEDS ARE IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER WHEN STEERING ON THE FREEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING IN DALLAS OVER THE WEEKEND, THE TRUCKS POWER STEERING BECAME UNAVAILABLE. HAPPENING AT SLOW SPEEDS THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED, TURNED OFF THEN STARTED AGAIN AND IT CAME BACK. FOR A 6 MILE DRIVE, THIS IS HOW THE TRUCK ACTED. ONCE IT WAS LEFT PARKED FOR 3 HOURS, IT STARTED AND RAN FINE. THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MILES PER HOUR, THE POWER STEERING BECAME UNAVAILABLE YET AGAIN. THIS LASTED FOR OVER 19 MILES, BUT FINALLY CAME BACK.
WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING ,THE VEHICLE ENGINE QUITS AND LOOSES ALL POWER. POWER STEERING IS LOST AND ALL POWER IS LOST. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON MY TRUCK THAT HAS LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A RELAY SWITCH. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS RELATED TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AS I ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE POWER MIRRORS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. SINCE PURCHASING NEW, MY 2019 RAM 1500 (NEW BODY) HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHEN BRAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. ITS NOT THE CROWN OF THE ROAD SINCE THE SAME MODEL LOANER TRUCK DID NOT PULL. I HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR 5600 MILES AND IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT WHEN BRAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALERS AND FCA ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE. THEY BELIEVE THERE IS NO PROBLEM. ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IN EACH CASE I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. UPON STARTING UP AND TURNING, THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN FIRST GEAR, MOTOR REVVING 4,000 - 4,500 RPM OR SO, UNTIL I REALIZED I HAD A PROBLEM. I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND LET THE TRUCK SLOW DOWN, IT WAS STILL IN FIRST GEAR, ALMOST CAME TO A FULL STOP, TRIED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE BUT STILL NO SHIFT. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A FULL STOP, THEN SLOWLY ACCELERATED AGAIN, STILL NO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I AGAIN CAME TO A FULL STOP, THIS TIME PUT THE SELECTOR KNOB INTO PARK, THEN BACK INTO DRIVE MODE AND ACCELERATED AND THE TRANSMISSION WORKED FINE. AFTER THE FIRST FOUR EPISODES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK THE TRUCK IN THE SAME DAY. FIRST THING THE SERVICE REP DID IS CHECK FOR A OBD CODE, NO CODE WAS GENERATED. DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR FOUR DAYS AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SINCE I'VE HAD THE TRUCK BACK ONE MORE EPISODE HAS OCCURRED. NOW I'M NOT SURE WHERE TO TURN. ALSO, ONE OTHER THING SHOULD MENTION EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS AT NIGHT. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT EACH EPISODE HAPPENED IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC, HAD IT BEEN IN A BUSY OR HEAVY TRAFFIC AREA IT COULD HAVE CREATED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING MY WORK TODAY I WAS TAKING A LEFT TURN AND MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. MY CAR HAD THE POWER STEERING LIGHT POP UP AND ALSO MY SCREEN IN MY GAUGE CLUSTERED SAID, "POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED." I LITERALLY ALMOST CRASHED INTO A HUGE ELECTRICAL POLE. DUE TO MY STEERING WHILE BECOMING EXTREMELY STIFF. MY CURRENT MILAGE IS 2270.6 MILES. ABOUT A MINUTE LATER MY POWER STEERING CAME BACK AND MY TRUCK WAS FINE. WHILE PARKING MY TRUCK AT WORK IN THE PARKING LOT ABOUT 5 MIN. AFTER THE FIRST FAILURE MY POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN BUT CAME BACK WITHIN SECONDS. ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK TONIGHT MY POWER STEERING FAILED AND DIDN'T COME BACK FOR ABOUT 8MINS/SEVERAL MILES. MY POWER STEERING CONTINUES TO FAIL THEN COME BACK TO NORMAL THEN FAIL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND ON A CITY STREET. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY WHILE TURNING AND OR GOING STRAIGHT.
I purchased my 2019 Ram 1500 in Sept 2018. I have had continuous steering issues since the day of purchase and each time I've complained over the past years nothing has been done by the dealer to address my problem. When the truck is warmed up and you're driving over 50 mph there's a "catch" or spot that seems to have a rough spot when steering to the left. It's fine when turning right, only when turning left does it occur. It's progressively getting worse and as the truck now has over 36,000 miles, (43,00 at time or writing this) the dealers are not interested in looking into my issues. I have made at least 5 or 6 complaints over the years and each time have been told they'll look into and get back to me. I feel now it's reached the point where it's not all that safe to drive or that the system could completely fail. How do I get Ram to get serious and address this issue. I know there's been time lapses on my part but as an 87 year old, time gets by me.

TOWING - TRUCK AS EQUIPPED IS SUPPOSED TO TOW 11410 LBS. WE HAVE SEVERE SWAY TOWING OUR 6900 LB TRAVEL TRAILER BEGINNING AT 45 MPH. WE HAVE A DISTRIBUTION HITCH AND ANTI SWAY BARS. TRAILER HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY TWO INDEPENDENT SERVICE PROVIDERS. TONGUE WEIGHT IS 800 LBS. TRUCK SEVERELY SQUATS WITH TRAILER ON IT. TECHS AT DEALERSHIP HAVE INDICATED THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE PROPER SUSPENSION OR TIRES, BUT DODGE REFUSES TO MAKE ANY REPAIR ATTEMPTS.
I PURCHASED THE TRUCK ON 10/4/2019. ON 10/6/2019 WAS DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE. AFTER GOING OVER THE FEATURES THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE LEFT. I TRIED BACKING THE TRUCK OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY THE TRUCK WOULD NOT BACK UP BECAUSE OF THE BRAKE SENSOR SYSTEM. THE BUTTONS TO CONTROL THE FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT WORK AS WELL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SAME DAY. IT'S BEEN SITING THERE UNREPAIIRED. THE DEAL SHIP SAYS THEY ARE UNSURE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAVE OPENED A ' STAR CASE' WITH DODGE MANUFACTURE. I HAVE CALLED EVERYDAY ASKING FOR UPDATES THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE ANY NEWS OR UPDATES.

APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE COLLISION CENTER. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING MECHANISM KNUCKLE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
