I HAVE 2006 SATURN ION 4 DOOR AND MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS VEHICLE IS THE CAR WOULDN'T CUT OFF YOU HAVE TO PRACTICALLY DRIVE IT UNTIL IT RUNS OUT OF GAS FOR IT TO SHUT OFF. THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS YOU CAN NOT TURN THIS CAR OFF AT ALL. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHICH PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE CHARGING ME TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS UNFAIR THIS IS A COMPLAINT THEY TOLD ME HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHY SELL THIS CAR AND DON'T WARN THE CUSTOMER ABOUT THIS AHEAD OF TIME? THEY TOLD ME THEY WEREN'T GOING TO PAY FOR THIS IF I WANTED IT FIXED I MUST PAY FOR A WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRES AT 36,000 MILES I AM SORRY FOR YOU BUT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THE LADY THAT CALLED ME WAS SO RUDE! THAT IS WRONG,WRONG, WRONG PLEASE HELP RESOLVE THIS MATTER ASAP PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND A CHIME WILL SOUND TO LET YOU KNOW YOU HAVE LOST POWER STEERING, THE ONLY TEMPORARY FIX IS TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON. IF YOU ARE ON A STRAIT ROAD AND HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION YOU CAN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON. IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN A TURN WHILE THE STEERING GOES OUT, OR ABOUT TO TURN... BRAKE AND PRAY... THE DEALERSHIP DID REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AT 20000 MILES AND IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND I HAVE HAD TIME TO NOT WORRY ABOUT LOOSING STEERING ABILITY FOR 3 YEARS. NOW MY CAR HAS 90,000 MILES AND JUST OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD, I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING 6 TIMES IN 20 MILES. THIS IS A REAL CONCERN AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE POWER STEERING MOTORS ON SATURN IONS AND CHEVY COBALTS BEFORE THEY CAUSE ANY MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 SATURN ION THAT I PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 2008. I HAD TROUBLE FROM THE FIRST DAY I PURCHASED IT. THE ION RANDOMLY DOES NOT START. I'VE HAD A MECHANIC TEST THE BATTERY AND SAID IT TESTED OUT FINE. I HAD ONE MECHANIC TELL ME IT WAS THE STARTER WHICH WOULD BE OVER $400, ANOTHER TELL ME IT WAS THE IGNITION, AND ANOTHER TELL ME THAT ON ONLY MECHANICS THAT HAD THE PARTS WERE THE DEALERSHIPS. MY CAR HAS NOT STARTED EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE LAST THREE WEEKS AND RANDOMLY SINCE LAST APRIL. I'VE MISSED WORK DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE FRUSTRATING THING IS THAT MY OTHER VEHICLE THAT'S OVER 9 YEARS OLD IS MORE RELIABLE THAN THIS SATURN. LOOKING ONLINE, I'VE REALIZED HOW MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL WHEN TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC JANUARY 2009 WHERE THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER OFFERED THE CONTACT A DISCOUNT ON THE REPAIRS AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH WITH A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AND THE OWNER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. A WEEK AGO, I SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT ABOUT LOSING REVERSE IN MY TRANSMISSION. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THE DEALER REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION FREE OF CHARGE OR LABOR COSTS. I APPLAUD JAY WOLFE SATURN OF TIFFANY SPRINGS, MISSOURI. FOR TAKING THIS CORRECTIVE ACTION. *TR
I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO TO WORK ON MONDAY MARCH 16, 2008. THE CAR STARTED. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY GARAGE, THE DOORS LOCKED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BACKWARD. THE CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERS FOR TROUBLE SHOOTING. *TR
AFTER ONLY TWO YEARS, OUR 2006 SATURN ION'S POWER STEERING HAS GONE COMPLETELY OUT. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS ELECTRONIC AND THAT SEVERAL IONS HAVE COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE COST TO FIX THIS IS ESTIMATED AT $900. *TR
IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER, OUR 2006 SATURN 4-DOOR ION IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET INTO WHEN EVERYTHING FREEZES. THIS MIGHT NOT BE ABNORMAL EXCEPT THAT THE PLASTIC TREAD ON THE DOOR FRAME AT THE BOTTOM ON MOST OF MY DOORS NOW HAVE SHATTERED AND BROKEN OFF DUE TO THIS. ALSO, THE BACK DOOR WINDOWS ROLL DOWN BY THEMSELVES A LITTLE IN ANY TEMPERATURE. AND TODAY (AGAIN IN FREEZING WEATHER), MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE LATCH WASN'T CATCHING. I CALLED SATURN AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO FIX FOR IT, AND YOU HAD TO SPRAY IT WITH WD40. I'VE NEVER HAD TO DO THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE AND NEVER HAVE I SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. AS IT WAS, THE WD40 WORKED. THE NUMBER OF FAILURES FOR THE DOOR IS 2 (LAST NIGHT, AND THIS MORNING). THE NUMBER FOR THE DOOR TREAD IS 4 (ALL 4 DOORS). THE NUMBER OF FAILURES FOR THE WINDOW ARE FAR TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT, SO I'VE PUT IN THERE 100 BECAUSE I'VE HAD IT OVER A YEAR AND IT DOES IT CONSTANTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR WAS COMING FROM VEHICLE. THE FUMES WERE UNBEARABLE AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
RE: THE CURRENT RECALL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH ON GM VEHICLES. I WANTED TO PUT IN A REPORT THAT I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS DEFECT FROM A DEALERSHIP REPAIR MAN BACK IN EARLY 2008. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN EARLY 2007 AND A YEAR LATER I WAS UNABLE TO START MY VEHICLE. I CAN'T RECALL THE EXACT SCENARIO BUT THINK SOME LIGHTS CAME ON OR SOMETHING, BECAUSE I KNEW TO CALL THE SATURN DEALERSHIP IN GOLDEN VALLEY MN TO REPORT THE ISSUE AND ASK WHAT THEY SUGGEST. THE REPAIR PERSON SAID THAT HE WAS PRETTY CERTAIN IT WAS MY IGNITION SWITCH, BASED ON THE SYMPTOMS I REPORTED WITH THE CAR. HE TOLD ME HOW TO GET IT STARTED BY DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, AND SURE ENOUGH I GOT IT RUNNING. HE SAID TO BRING IT IN RIGHT AWAY AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. WHEN I GOT THERE, HE SAID THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE, AS "GM SHOULD HAVE MADE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY AREN'T DOING THAT." FORTUNATELY FOR ME I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT FROM THIS, BUT INTERESTING THAT BACK THEN, THE DEALERSHIP KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND QUESTIONED THEN WHY NOTHING WAS BEING DONE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF VIRGINIA AND JUST GOT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY CALLED 81 NORTH. I PUT MY CRUISE CONTROL ON AND SET IT AT AROUND 60. I DID THIS RIGHT BEFORE AN UPHILL CLIMB THEN I HELD ONTO THE ACCELERATE BUTTON TO SET IT AROUND 65 WHICH WAS THE SPEED LIMIT ON THAT HIGHWAY. IT ACCELERATED SLOWLY AND WHEN IT GOT TO THE SPEED I WANTED I LET GO. I GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL AND IT KEEPS ACCELERATING. SO IM NOW GOING DOWNHILL AND ITS ACCELERATING PLUS THE HILL WAS STEEP AND I HIT MY BRAKE AND IT DOESN'T TURN OFF. I HIT THE CLUTCH SIMULTANEOUS TO WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE AND NEITHER SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. I THEN TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND ITS STILL GOING. I THEN HIT THE CLUTCH AND YANK THE SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL (ITS A MANUAL) AND THE RPM'S ARE GOING CRAZY. I TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON BACK ON AND THEN OFF AGAIN AND IT FINALLY STOPPED TRYING TO ACCELERATE (THE RPM'S STOPPED FREAKING OUT). NOT TO MENTION I GET PULLED BY A STATE TROOPER FOR SPEEDING. AFTER HE COMES BACK WITH MY TICKET (STILL SHOCKED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULDN'T LET UP) , I TELL HIM, "WELL WHAT HAPPENED WAS..." AND HE SAYS "I DON'T NEED TO KNOW, I JUST NEED YOU TO SIGN THIS PAPER RIGHT HERE." THIS JUST HAPPENED TODAY IN ROANOKE, VA AND I LIVE IN NORFOLK, VA SO I HAVE TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK TO ROANOKE ON MARCH 13 TO CONTEST THIS TICKET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEARLY CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH; HOWEVER, THE SPEED HAS VARIED. THE CONNECTING PANEL ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BETWEEN THE TWO DOORS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FELL OFF ONTO THE FREEWAY. AROUND 15000 MILES, MY POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING, I TOOK IT TO THE SATURN DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT TIME I DROVE MY CAR, I GOT TO THE END OF MY STREET, AND THE POWER STEERING POPPED AND WENT OUT AGAIN. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THEY SAID THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, BUT I WILL BE MAKING ANOTHER TRIP TO SATURN AS THE POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING AND THEN STARTS WORKING AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. ONE DAY, AS I WAS TURNING ACROSS A 2 LANE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING POPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TURN. THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME DURING WHAT COULD BECOME VERY DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES.*CN
IGNITION PROBLEM. CAR WILL NOT START. PASSLOCK ENGAGED. TURN KEY UNTIL PASSLOCK LIGHT STOPS FLASHING. WAIT 10MINS AND CAR WILL START. SERVICE BULLETIN IS OUT FOR PROBLEM. THE BULLETIN NUMBER IS 04-08-45-005D AND IT'S TITLED IGNITION SYSTEM - NO CRANK / NO START / DTC'S B2960/B3033. IT'S DATED MARCH 15, 2006. COVERING MODELS: 2003-2006 SATURN ION. THIS ISSUE IS WIDE SPREAD AND IS KNOW BY GM. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT. NHTSA SHOULD DO THE CORRECT THING AND MAKE GM ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
#1. KEY. IN 2008 THE KEY STARTED GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THE CAR KEPT RUNNING. IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 10 TRIES BEFORE THE ENGINE STOPPED. EVEN THEN I COULD NOT ALWAYS GET THE KEY TO COME OUT RIGHT AWAY. I COULD NOT GET THE KEY TO TURN WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR. THE KEY OFTEN WOULD ALSO GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I COULD NOT GET IT OUT AND WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN. 2014 I COULD NOT GET IT TO COME OUT AT ALL AND AT ONE POINT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. MECHANIC REPLACED (AT MY EXPENSE) THE IGNITION. #2. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AN ADD ON OFFERED WAS A PASSIVE KILL SWITCH CALLED ID SYSTEM. REPEATEDLY THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THE ON-STAR SYSTEM ALSO NOTIFIED ME. IT WOULD GO BACK OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN 2006 AND 2007 WAS TOLD SINCE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON THEN THAT THEY COULD NOT/WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. IN 2013 THE LIGHT WAS ALWAYS ON. I WAS ALSO HAVING OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS (SEE #3). I WENT TO AN AUTO ELECTRICAL SHOP. WHILE DIAGNOSING THE INITIAL PROBLEM THE SHOP FOUND THAT WHEN THE KILL SWITCH WAS PUT IN THE COMPANY HAD TAKEN OUT THE RELAY FOR THE AIR BAG AND PUT THE PUT THE ID SYSTEM RELAY IN IT'S PLACE. THE RESULT WAS THAT NEITHER WORKED. THE SHOP PULLED OUT THE KILL SWITCH RELAY AND REPLACED THE AIR BAG ONE. WHICH I PAID THE BILL FOR. NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS STARTING TO COME BACK ON AT TIMES. I ASSUME THE AIR BAG IS NOT WORKING. #3. IN 2013 THE ALARM ON THE CAR STARTED GOING OFF BY ITS SELF.THAT DAY IT WENT ON AND OFF 5 OR 6 TIMES TILL I REALIZED IT MIGHT BE MY CAR. THE NEIGHBOR SAID THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND IT AT THE TIME. I DON'T TURN ON THE ALARM. I ENDED UP DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP (SEE #2) BUT SINCE IT WAS NOT DOING IT THEN THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. #4 I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED BY GM THAT OTHERS WERE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION 2. SPORADICALLY, THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. THE FAILURE PREVENTS THE CONTACT FROM CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $900. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO START AFTER THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OVER WITHOUT POWER. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES FOR THE SECURITY SYSTEM TO RESET, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUCCESSFULLY START. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER IT STALLED OR WAS TURNED OFF, IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY UNTIL WAITING TEN MINUTES FOR THE SECURITY TO ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS FAULTY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE, WHICH REMEDIED THE ISSUE ACCORDING TO A TSB. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO INQUIRE ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY REFERRED HIM TO NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, THE TRUNK THAT HOUSED THE BATTERY WOULD NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,000.
COLD WEATHER / AROUND FREEZING TEMPERATURE. CAR DOES NOT START AT ALL IN COLD WEATHER. HAVE REPLACED BATTERY AND IT HAS REPEATED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY AUTOMATIC SATURN ION WITH 61K MILES AND NO SIGNS OF A PROBLEM, ON ITS OWN DOWNSHIFTED FROM ABOUT 65MILES TO 30 MILES. ONCE I MOVED IT OVER ONE LANE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN ANY GEAR. THE ANALYSIS WAS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I BELIEVE IT IS A BAD DESIGN FOR A CAR TO GIVE NO WARNINGS AND THEN DOWNSHIFT ON IT OWN. WITH THE CAR STOPPING SO ABRUPTLY, IF MY FAMILY AND I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE WE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED SATURN DIRECTLY CONCERNING THIS MATTER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHEN THE KEY WAS PLACED IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC CODE FOR THE BATTERY FAILED. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPROGRAM THE CODE. THE VIN, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,000.
I HAVE A 2006 ION, WITH AROUND 38,000 MILES O IT. LAST WEEK WHEN I LEFT WORK LATER IN THE EVENING AND TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE LIGHTS AND RADIO CAME ON, BUT THE CAR DID NOT START. I THOUGHT I NEEDED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE BUT WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN WHEN I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM THE CAR THEN STARTED, WHICH WAS ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I TOOK IT TO MY SATURN DEALER TODAY (SATURN OF MONROEVILLE) AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE INTERNAL SECURITY SYSTEM IN THE IONS. ON FEBRUARY 13, 2008, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE FUEL REGULATOR AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR OVER THREE WEEKS. AN UNAUTHORIZED DRIVER AT THE DEALER CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A DITCH WITH TWO FEET OF WATER, CAUSING WATER TO ENTER THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CONTACT HAS 56 PHOTOS AVAILABLE. SINCE I DID NOT KNOW THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, AND I WAS NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE FROM THE REMOTE DOOR OPENER, I OPENED THE DOOR WITH THE KEY, CLOSED THE DOOR AND PROCEEDED TO START THE CAR. AFTER FAILED ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR, I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. SINCE THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER IN THE CAR, I WAS ALSO LOCKED IN THE CAR WITH NO WAY OF GETTING OUT. ALL DOORS WERE LOCKED WITH NO MANUAL MEANS TO OPEN INTERNALLY. LUCKILY FOR ME COLLEAGUES WERE AROUND AND WERE ABLE TO GIVE ME A BOOST THAT ALLOWED THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO RETURN TO THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL CURRENT RETURN THE POWER DOORS AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I FOUND THIS DEFECT TO BE A POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR ANY CAR IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE POWER FROM THE CAR GETS CUT OFF. HAD THEIR BEEN A FIRE, OR BELOW FREEZING OR EXTREME HEAT CONDITIONS, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS. HOPEFULLY THIS INCIDENT IS ISOLATED BUT I FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO REPORT. *NM
THE FRONT LEFT INDICATOR TURN SIGNAL LIGHT AND FRONT LEFT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT WORK SPORADICALLY. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY A SATURN REPAIR TECHNICIAN THAT BOTH RUN ON THE SAME CIRCUIT. ALSO, THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON SPORADICALLY.*AK
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE 2006 SATURN ION WITH 14000 FAILURE MILEAGE AT 30 MPH AND PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING UP HILL AND WITHOUT WARNING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL GOT STUCK AND THE VEHICLE WAS CATAPULTED UP HILL 90 MPH. THE CONTACT STOMPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT TO UNSTUCK, BUT THE SPEED DID NOT CHANGE. THE CONTACT THEN APPLIED THE BRAKE WITH FORCE WITH NO CHANGE IN SPEED. WHILE DRIVING, AND STILL GOING UP HILL THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, WAS PRESSING ON THE BRAKE AND PULLED UP THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ALL AT ONCE AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP SIDEWAYS JUST BEFORE THE GUARD RAIL. I HAVE A 2006 SATURN ION, IT CAME STANDARD WITH GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRES. WITHIN 25 THOUSAND MILES, THE TIRES BEGAN TO BALLOON, BLISTER. I HAD ONE EXPLODE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE REMAINING 3 SOON BEGAN THE SAME PROCESS OF BLISTERING. I REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH THE SAME TYPE OF TIRE FROM GOODYEAR, ASSURANCE. ONCE AGAIN, WITHIN 25 THOUSAND MILES, THEY BEGAN THE SAME PROCESS, BALLOONING AND BLISTERING. I REPLACED ALL FOUR WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF TIRE FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT DISCOUNT TIRE COMPANY IN TYLER TEXAS, ON BROADWAY AVE. I TRIED TALKING WITH GOODYEAR, AND THEY WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THESE TIRES, THEY ARE DEFECTIVE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH 8 TIRES. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT OCCURRED DECEMBER, 2006, THE SECOND RUN ON REPLACEMENTS WAS APRIL, 2008. *TR
