MY PROBLEM IS THAT I CANNOT BACK-UP USING THE GEAR SHIFTER AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE USED. THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE LITTLE PANEL IN THE FRONT OF THE GEAR HANDLE, ALLOWING ME TO PRESS IT MANUALLY.I WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE FIXED (BY HIM) UNLESS IT WAS HAPPENING THEN. WHICH IT WAS NOT DOING AT THE TIME I TOOK IT TO HIM. YOU SEE, IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL KICK IN AFTER I PRESS THE BRAKE, AND SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT KICK IN AND THAT'S WHEN I HAVE TO PUSH THE SWITCH MANNUALLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT OCCURRENCE.
THE REAR GLASS HEATED WINDOW LEAKS LIKE A SIVE. IT'S MOLDED UP MY TRUNK AND I HAVE TO LET THE WATER OUT BY DISLODGING THE TRUNK PLUG SO IT DOESN'T ACCUMULATE. NOT COOL, BUT I DO LOVE THE DRIVE! ADD A SCARF AND IT FEELS LIKE PARIS... WE JUST KEEP ADDING SEALANT IN BLACK TO KEEP THE WATER OUT EVERY FALL BEFORE THE RAIN KICKS IN.
THE DASHBOARD OF THE CAMRY BECOMES TACKY AND VERY SHINY DUE TO DETERIATION FROM SUNLIGHT. THIS SHINY FINISH CAUSES DANGEROUS GLARE AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. THE TACKINESS PREVENTS THE DASHBOARD FROM BEING CLEANED PROPERLY TO PREVENT REFLECTIONS AS WELL.
VSC LIGHTS AND ABS LIGHTS STAY ON AND POWER ASSIST TO BRAKES IS INTERMITTANT CAUSING EXTREME PRESSURE TO BE APPLIED TO STOP. ALSO AUDIBLE ALARM SOUNDS FREQUENTLY.
THIS MORNING I WAS TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE UNDER 30 MPH ON A NEIGHBORHOOD PAVED ROAD. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE 4 WAY STOP, MY DASH READ "CHECK VCS SYSTEM" PLUS ALL THESE LIGHT CAME ON MY DASHBOARD SUCH AS A BRAKE LIGHT, A CIRCLE WITH AN EXCLAMATION, A FEW OTHER LIGHTS THAT IM NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE AND MY BRAKES WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP . I ENDED UP ROLLING THROUGH THE 4 WAY STOP AND WAS ABLE TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A DITCH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO MY HOUSE GOING VERY SLOWLY AND WITH AN EXTREMELY LARGE AMOUNT OF SPACE TO STOP. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO READ THE CODES BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO READ THEM BECAUSE IT WAS NOT AN ENGINE CODE. ON MY WAY BACK TO THE HOUSE, ALL LIGHTS DISAPPEARED AND THE LOCAL TOYOTA SHOP SAID IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC WITHOUT ANY LIGHTS. I AM EXTREMELY THANKFUL MY KIDS AND THE KIDS WALKING ACROSS THE CROSS WALK AT THE FOUR WAY STOP WERE NOT INJURED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THERE WAS ONE INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER 45 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SUBURBAN PAVED ROAD, MY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF THEN ON AGAIN DIRECTLY FOLLOWED BY ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON AND THE DISPLAY SHOWED "CHECK VCS SYSTEM". I WAS ENTERING A TURN LANE BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE AND QUICKLY REALIZED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT WORKING. I HAD NO BRAKES! I HAD ALREADY PUT THE CAR INTO THE ENGINE BRAKE MODE WHICH HELPED SLOW MY VEHICLE. I SLAMMED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD AND SWERVED AWAY FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME TO AVOID HITTING THEM. AFTER SUCCESSFULLY PULLING OVER AND TO A STOP, I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS AND CHECK VCS SYSTEM WAS STILL DISPLAYED FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I HEARD A SMALL CLICK AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND THE CAR AND BRAKES WERE BACK TO NORMAL. I AM HONESTLY NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR FOR FEAR OF NOT KNOWING WHEN AND IF THAT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING RPM IS FLUCTUATING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FEEL LIKE IT IS DOWN SHIFTING WHEN NOT DECELERATING. THIS MAKES IT FEEL LIKE IT IS CAUSING UNNECESSARY STRAIN ON THE TRANSMISSION......UPDATED 12/08/15 *BF
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET, CHECK VSC SYSTEM WARNING APPEARED ALONG WITH CHECK ENGINE/STABILITY/ANTILOCK BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS. VEHICLE DID NOT LOSE BRAKING COMPLETELY BUT DID NOT FEEL NORMAL AND WAS BROUGHT TO SIDE OF ROAD. AFTER RESTART WAS LIGHTS CLEARED AND HAS BEHAVED NORMALLY SO FAR. BROUGHT TO DEALER NEXT DAY, UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM.
TOYOTA FAILED TO REPLACE MELTING/STICKY DASHBOARD AFTER 6 MONTH FROM THE INITIAL INSPECTION. (1) THE MELTING/STICKYNESS OF THE DASHBOARD RELEASING TOXIC FUME LIKELY HAVE LONG TERM EFFECTS ON ONES HEALTH, AND (2) THE SHINY/REFLECTIVE SURFACE THE DASHBOARD CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE IS BURNING OIL AND I ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ADDING OIL, I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AFTER I RECEIVED A NOTICE ON THE MAIL ABOUT MY CAR HAVING A WARRANTY PROBLEM, EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THEY SAID THAT THE CAR WAS FINE AND THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND I TOOK IT BACK AFTER 1200 MILES AND ACCORDING TO THEM THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, THIS STARTED MORE THAN A YEAR AGO AND I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
Excessive engine oil consumption. Penske Toyota of Downey would Not fix my car when I took it in. I received a letter from Corporate Toyota. I also received a letter on the sticky dash board. They replaced the dash board but, they would Not fixed my engine problem. I took their word for it and now I have to check my oil often and keep oil in my trunk. I never get an oil warning light. I just have to make sure by checking it often. Penske refused to fix my car, they told me it was normal for my car to lose oil. I was made aware of both problems back to back by Corporate Toyota but Penske said no. No problem here according to them. So… the problem just got worst and worst over time.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION CAR HAS ABOUT 88,000 MILES AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT HALFWAY BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I TOOK IT TO PERRYVILLE TIRE TO HAVE OIL CHECKED--WAS TOLD I HAD NONE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, WHICH THEY TOLD ME IT PASSED AFTER THEY ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS IS RIDICULOUS--I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES AND NONE BURNED OIL AT THIS RATE. NORMAL--BAH, HUMBUG. I DO HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH COVERS UP TO 100,000 MILES. I DO BELIEVE TOYOTA IS TRYING TO RUN OUT THE WARRANTY.
DRIVING AT 40 MPH, CHECK VSC SYSTEM, BRAKE, TRACTION , WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED IMMEDIATE LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. NEEDED TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKING AND DOWN SHIFT TO BRING CAR TO COMPLETE STOP. WAS ON SUBURBAN AREA PAVED ROAD AND WAS GOING STRAIGHT.
THE CAR WILL BE RUNNING PERFECT AND OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR WILL START DECELERATING. IT WILL STILL LOSE SPEED EVEN AS I HAVE THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WENT FROM 60MPH TO 15MPH WITH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. FINALLY IT WILL START GAINING SPEED BUT MY RPM'S HIT 6-7 AND ALMOST MAX OUT. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WITH A SEMI TRUCK RIGHT BEHIND ME AS THIS HAPPENED CAUSING HIM TO ALMOST HIT ME. IT WAS HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND NO ERRORS OR PROBLEMS POPPED UP AT ALL. THIS CONCERNS ME BECAUSE NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.
CAR ACCIDENT - OCTOBER 8, 2015 - AIR BAD DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A HEAD ON ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER CAR. PLACE - ISLANDIA, NEW YORK - I WAS ON THE NORTHBOUND LANE OF VETERANS HIGHWAY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF A TWO LEFT LANE TURN TO SYCAMORE LANE. I HAD THE GREEN LEFT ARROW AND PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. A CAR FROM THE SOUTHBOUND LANE OF VETERANS HIGHWAY PASSED A RED LIGHT AND HIT ME PARTLY HEAD ON WHILE I WAS MAKING LEFT TURN TO SYCAMORE LANE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT AND EVEN THE SAFETY OFFICERS OF SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE MENTIONED THIS. WHILES DRIVING THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON , THE CAUTION LIGHTS CAME ON AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. THE BRAKES FELT REALLY ODD. IT PULSATES. THE ALARM SAYS CHECK THE VSC SYSTEM
TODAY MORNING I SAW MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID REPORTING " CHECK VSC SYSTEM" "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" ON THE DASHBOARD. I THE BREAKING SEEMS TO BE HARD. I DONT SEE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL LIST THOUGH BUT VEHICLE HAS A ISSUE. THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT DOES LET ME DETAIL THE PROCESS AND IS HELPING ME ANYWAY. ABREAST ME THE PROCEDURE TO TAKE IT UP FURTHER WITH TOYOTA.
WHEN BACK OUT FROM DRIVEWAY, I ALWAYS HEARD A CLINKING SOUND AND FELT LIKE STEERING COLUMN LOOSE COMPONENT.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION IT HESITATES TO SWITCH GEARS FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. AS YOU ACCELERATE. AT TIMES THERE IS A JERK AS IT IS DOING SO. THIS CAUSES ME TO EITHER SLOW DOWN OR SPEED UP UNTIL IT GOES INTO GEAR.
I STARTED MY CAR THIS MORNING AND A MESSAGE THAT SAID CHECK VSC SYSTEM APPEARED. THE BRAKE LIGHT AND MASTER WARNING LIGHTS ALSO APPEARED. I STARTED TO GO OUT THE DRIVE WAY AND COULD NOT PRESS THE BRAKES. IT WAS A LITTLE JUMPY AND THE BRAKES ARE HARD TO PRESS NOW.

I PURCHASED MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE IN MAY 2006 (THE VIN PLATE SHOWS IT WAS MADE IN KENTUCKY). 2007 WAS A NEW BODY STYLE. THE CAMRY HAD A TACH WELD DEFECT IN THE RIGHT REAR FENDER WELL. ORIGINALLY THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS MY REAR GRAB HANDLE SHAKING. I KNEW IT WASN'T. HAVING NO OTHER RECOURSE, I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE. THEY FLEW IN 2 TECH SERVICE ENGINEERS FROM CA TO MY STATE, AND WITH THE DEALER, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY (OR NO) TACH WELD IN THE RR FENDER WELL CAUSING THE FRAME OF THE BODY TO STRIKE TOGETHER. THE CAR WAS SENT TO A WELDING SHOP AND THE DEFECT WAS REPAIRED. IT'S NOW SEPTEMBER 2015 AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO I BEGAN TO HEAR THE "TINK TINK" SOUND AGAIN- INDICATING THE SAME, OR ANOTHER, FAULTY TACH WELD. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE AGAIN (JUST NOW), AND AM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. SINCE THIS IS ESSENTIALLY THE FRAME OF THE CAR, I'M VERY CONCERNED. (ADDITIONALLY I HAD EXTENSIVE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR BUT UNLESS I CONSTANTLY RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER/SHOP I COULDN'T MEET THE LEMON LAW THRESHOLD IN MY STATE. FOR EXAMPLE, WATER POURED OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS LEAVES IN THE A PILLAR. I PARK MY CAR IN A GARAGE.)
THE SEAT BELT ALARM SYSTEM FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. THE SEAT BELT ALARM FAILURE IS A NEW DEVELOPMENT. IT OCCURS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ABS LIGHT COMING ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, ALSO AN INTERMITTENT EVENT. THIS ABS LIGHT EVENT CONTINUES TO OCCUR IN CONJUNCTION WITH INCREASING ADDITIONAL FAILURES, INCLUDING ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS, AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE AND NOW THE SEAT BELT ALARM FAILURE.
9/15/15 THE SEAT BELT ALARM SYSTEM FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS SEAT BELT ALARM FAILURE IS A NEW DEVELOPMENT. IT OCCURS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ABS LIGHT COMING ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, ALSO AN INTERMITTENT EVENT. THIS ABS LIGHT EVENT CONTINUES TO CAUSE ADDITIONAL FAILURES, INCLUDING ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS INCLUDING BRIGHT LIGHTS, AIR CONDITIONER FAILURE WARNING AND NOW SEAT BELT ALARM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

ENGINE IS CONSUMING QUARTS OF OIL (5-9 QTS) BETWEEN OIL CHANGES

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED DUE TO THE PARTS BEING ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,000.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL WAS NEVER FIXED PROPERLY TRIED TO TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP SEVER TIMES BUT WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR SHOWED AS NOT HAVING THAT ISSUE POWER WINDOWS RECALL BUTTON GETS STUCK. OIL IS CONSTANTLY RUNNING LOW OR EMPTY AND SENSOR IS NOT COMING ON AS WELL AS NO OIL LEAKING OUT OF VEHICLE EVEN AFTER OIL CHANGE HAS TAKEN PLACE. HAVE TO MANUALLY CHECK AND ADD OIL TO VEHICLE WHICH IS DANGEROUS
MY CAR DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND WHEN I DRIVE IT'S REFLECTED ON THE WINDSHIELD IT IS DESTRUCTIVE AND HARD TO DRIVE.
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. CAN NOT FIND OR SEE ANY PLACE ON THE WINDOW WHICH MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIT WITH A STONE BEEBEE OR PAINT BALL. NO OBVIOUS POINT OF FAILURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME STUCK ON ZERO, THE TACHOMETER AND THE THERMOSTAT NEEDLES BOUNCED UP AND DOWN, AND THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
HEADLIGHTS WILL SPORADICALLY TURN OFF WHEN DRIVING. TURNING THEM OFF AND BACK ON SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDOW MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I HAVE A TOYOTA SOLARA 2007 IT HAS AN EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM (TESTED AND CERTIFIED BY TOYOTA OF SOUTH FLORIDA DEALER AS PART OF TOYOTA NATIONAL RECALL)BUT TOYOTA CORPORATION DOESN'T HAVE AN SPECIFIC TIME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE YET THE PARTS TO REPLACE AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THOSE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY TOYOTA SINCE 2014. HOW THEY DON'T HAVE THESE PARTS YET?

ONLINE RESEARCH POINTS OUT TO THE ANTI-MOLD, EXPERIMENTAL CODING THAT TOYOTA PUT ON THE EVAPORATOR FANS, AND THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT THIS CODING WAS PUT ON THE VEHICLES IN 2007, AND THERE IS NO OFFICIAL RECALL ABOUT THIS ISSUE. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed her that it was a common failure due to the material used to design the headlight housings. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact stated that the dealer technician would have to remove the entire bumper in order to sand and clean the interior of the headlights.

TOYOTA HAS A WARRANTY ENHNACEMENT ON IT, DEALER ORDERED A REPLACEMENT BACK ON 07/29/2015 AND TOTYOTA HAS NOT FULFILLED THE ORDER YET. WITH SUMMER COMING, IT'LL BE BRIGHT & SUNNY AND A HAZARD AGAIN. ANY WAY TO EXPEDITE THAT REPLACEMENT PART FROM TOTYOTA. PLEASE HELP.
WHEN DRIVING CAME UP THE ABS, BRAKE AND ENGINE LIGHTS. WHEN I CHECK WITH A TOYOTA DEALER, THEY INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE ACTUATOR ASSY BRAKE (COST OF $2,251.44 INSTALLED). LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE DANGER OF THE SITUATION FOUND THAT THE CAMRY HYBRID 2007 HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA AGREED TO EXTEND A 10 YEAR GUARANTEE OR 150K MILES UNTIL 2017. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS NOT VIABLE FOR ME NOW, AND CANNOT USE THE CAR, GIVEN THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED.
