CAR WAS LEFT INSIDE GARAGE ALL SUMMER. WHEN I TOOK IT OUT FOR A RIDE, DASHBOARD BECAME ALL STICKY AND GLARY FROM THE SUN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED RIGHT TO SWITCH LANES AND THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED LEFT INSTEAD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILE WAS 135,000.

2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER STATED ENGINE DID NOT TURN OFF EVEN AFTER PUSHING THE POWER OFF BUTTON. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. CONSEQUENTLY, CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERED THE CONSUMER'S HOME. SHE AND HER HUSBAND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE DID NOT KNOW SHE HAD TO HOLD THE BUTTON, TO COMPLETELY TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. *SS.
BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC DURING RUSH HOUR; DODGE TRUCK W/TRAILER HITCH STOPPED ON A DIME; I RAN INTO BACK OF TRUCK; BUT THEN MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD ON ITS OWN ACCORD AND I HIT THE TRUCK A SECOND TIME. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IT LUNGED! CAR IS IN THE SHOP BUT I STILL HAVE NOT FOUND OUT WHAT THE COST OF DAMAGE WILL BE OR THE TIME FRAME FOR REPAIRS. IT HAS LUNGED BEFORE; BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *TR
AT 76427 (3865 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE) THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DIP STICK WAS DRY. I TOOK IN TO MCQUIRE TOYOTA AND THEY STARTED A PHASE 1 OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. AT 1300 MILES I TOOK IT BACK, THEY ONLY ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL, IT PASSED THEIR TEST. THEN AFTER 2499 MILES THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE DIP STICK WAS DRY. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I CONSTANTLY CHECK THE OIL BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THAT THE OIL WILL GO DRY AND THE ENGINE WILL BLOW. I THINK THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ONLY GET WORSE. AFTER 2499 MILES MY OIL LIGHT SHOULD NOT BE COMING ON AND THE DIP STICK SHOULD NOT BE DRY. TOYOTA'S OIL CONSUMPTION TEST MAY LOOK GOOD ON PAPER, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK IN REAL LIFE. I AM 63 TEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WHERE THIS HAPPENS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ALL IS GOING TO DAMAGE THE ENGINE, SO I HAVE TO KEEP A CLOSE WATCH OF IT. THANK YOU. *TR

AFTER BRINGING THE CAR TO GET BRAKES CHECKED, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON THE CAR. THIS CAR IS ONLY DRIVEN ON PAVED ROADS, IN A WELL MAINTAINED AREA. THE CAR HAS SLIGHTLY LESS THAN 48000 MILES ON IT. STRUTS SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER ON A CAR WHEN THE DRIVEN IN THE ENVIRONMENT WE LIVE IN. *TR
FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS MY DASHBOARD HAS BEEN OILY AND STICKY WHEN IT IS EXPOSED TO THE SUN. I LIVE IN FLORIDA, WHERE IT IS ALWAYS HOT. WHEN I AM DRIVING IN THE DAYTIME, THERE IS A GLARE THAT THE DASHBOARD GIVE TO THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS SO STICKY AND GLOSSY THAT ONE TIME I PUT A SUN VISOR IN THE WINDSHIELD TO PROTECT THE DASHBOARD AND THE SUNVISOR STUCK TO THE DASHBOARD DUE TO THE STICKINESS. THE GLARE TO THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE SHINY, OILY DASHBOARD IS A HAZARD AND SHOULD BE FIXED ASAP BEFORE AN VEHICLE ACCIDENT OCCURS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
2009 TOYOTA CAMRY SE DRIVER SIDE TOP OF DASHBOARD MELTING MAKING A CRACK ABOUT 1/16 TO 1/8 OF AN INCH. IT LOOKS LIKE A PATCH ON THE DASHBOARD COMPARED TO APPROXIMATELY THE SIZE OF AN ADULT HAND. THE MELTING AREA GETS WORST WITH THE HEAT AND LIFTING UP WITH AN UNEVEN BUMP ON THE DASHBOARD. NOTE: VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED ON ANY ACCIDENTS 9/30/2014. *TR

STICKY AND SHINY DASHBOARD: MY DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND IT'S DIFFICULT TO CLEAN BUT NOT ONLY THAT BUT THERE IS THE GLARE AND WHEN THAT COMES UP I CAN'T REALLY SEE WHERE I AM GOING PROPERLY. IT'S QUITE DANGEROUS SINCE THE SHINY DASHBOARD MAKES EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS WHEN SUN HIT RIGHT AT YOU. IN ORDER FOR ME TO DRIVE I HAVE TO LEAN DOWN A LITTLE BIT AND GO IN BETWEEN THE TWO GLARE SPOTS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND PRODUCES A BRIGHT GLARE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO LOOK THROUGH. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN IT THINKING IT WAS GUNK OR BUILD UP, BUT IT DOESN'T NOT DO ANY GOOD OR CHANGES ANYTHING TO THE MATERIAL. IT CONTINUES TO BE VERY STICKY. THE DASHBOARD TO MY CAMRY IS VERY STICKY. BEGINNING IN SUMMER 2014, THE 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY LE DASHBOARD HAS GRADUALLY BECOME VERY SHINY. THE SHININESS NOW PRODUCES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AT TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE SHINY AREA OF THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY STICKY WITH A TACKY FEEL TO IT. NO COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN USED TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD, AND CAR IS UNDER COVER THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME. *TR

THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO TURN OFF BUT DOES NOT. A/C DOES NOT GIVE OFF COLD AIR. GEAR LIGHT INDICATOR GOES OFF OR INDICATES DRIVE GEAR NO MATTER ON WHAT GEAR. *TR
ENGINE OIL DRIES UP AFTER SOME DAYS AFTER OIL CHANGE WITHOUT ANY LEAK OR ANYTHING. IT IS HAPPENING SO MANY TIMES THAT I MADE SURE AND CHECKED ENGINE OIL AND AFTER 20 30 DAYS THERE WILL BE NO OIL IN ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WARNING DO NOT COME ON. THERE IS NO LEAK UDER THE CAR. I MADE SURE BY PUTTING CARDBOARD UNDER CAR SO IF THER IS DRIP I CAN SEE . I CHECKED WITH SO MANY MECHANICS LAST 3 YEARS NO ONE KNOWS WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY CAR GOT WATER PUMP LEAK ISSUE AND IT OVERHEATED MY ENGINE AND IT NEEDED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD.IT HAS 36K MILES ON IT AND 5 YEAR 6MONTHS OLD. TOYOTA DEALER ASKING ME TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, WATER PUMP, AND OTHER MISC PARTS.I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICE. IS MY VIN NUMBER MISSED IN RECALL. AM I RIPPED OFF BECAUSE OF TOYOTA ISSUE. *TR
STICKY DASH. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I NOTICED THE STICKY DASH SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, BUT AS I HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, DID NOT REPORT IT UNTIL MY LAST OIL CHANGE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THAT TIME, REPORTED THE STICKY DASH TO TOYOTA. I CALLED THIS WEEK REGARDING THE MATTER AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE THE DASH, BUT THE LABOR OF $251.00 WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY. I TOLD THE MANAGER THAT I DID NOT FEEL THAT THE LABOR OR ANY COST SHOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY, AS IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT AND NOT ANYTHING THAT I HAD CREATED. MY CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AT LEAST 96% OF THE TIME. HAVING SAID THAT, I DO FEEL THAT IF IT HAD BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE FOR MOST OF THE TIME, THE PROBLEM WOULD BE MUCH WORSE AND OVER TIME IT WILL MOST LIKELY GET WORSE. I WATCHED THE REPORT ON CHANNEL 5 LAST EVENING REGARDING THIS MATTER AND HOPEFUL THAT SOMETHING WILL BE DONE. THANK YOU *TR

I CONTACTED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAMRY'S BUT NO OFFER OF HELP. I HAVE SEARCHED AND CANNOT FIND A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT, LOOKING UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. PLEASE RECALL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH HYDROPLANED ON AN HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP THAT WAS A SHARP LOOP/CURVE. THE CAR HIT HEAD ON THE END OF THE GUARDRAIL WHICH HAD A SQUARE PLATE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END AND HOOD OF THE CAMRY WAS SMASHED AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT WHICH SOMEWHAT RESTRAINED ME BUT HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. *TR
GLARE DUE TO MELTED DASHBOARD CAUSE DELAY REACTION DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY RESULTING IN DOUBLE IMPACT. THE DASHBOARD ISSUE LOOKS TO BE A COSMETIC ISSUE BUT IT REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS CLEARLY A POOR MANUFACTURING PRODUCT THAT WHEN IN CONTACT WITH THE SUN TURNS INTO A SHINNY STICKY RESIDUE THAT REFLECTS THE DIRECT LIGHT RIGHT INTO DE DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S FACE. TOYOTA SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND REPLACE THE POORLY DESIGNED DASHBOARDS BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS. *TR

THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING AND EC COMPUTER FAILED. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. CAMRY WENT FROM BURNING 1 QT. OF OIL PER 5,000 MILES (CAR HAD 82K MILES ON IT) TO BURNING 1 QT. PER 450 MILES (CAR HAS 158K MILES ON IT). TOYOTA TESTED THE CAR AND SAID IT CAME UP 0.1 QT SHORT OF REQUIRING REPAIR UNDER ENHANCED WARRANTY,
VEHICLE (NOW WITH 98,532 MILES) HAS A "STICKY" DASHBOARD CAUSED BY THE BREAKDOWN OF THE MATERIALS COMPOSING THE DASHBOARD. BREAKDOWN OF MATERIALS HAS CAUSED THE DASHBOARD TO HAVE A GLARE. THE GLARE PRESENTS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE MATERIAL BREAKDOWN OF THE DASHBOARD IS BELIEVED TO ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A CRACKING OF THE DASHBOARD WHICH MAY ALSO CAUSE INTERFERENCE WITH OPERATION OF THE AIR BAG. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUOUSLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE CAMRY WAS TAKING A SPEED HUMPS AND WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY AN F-150 GRAND RANCH TRUCK. THE CAMRY PASSENGER SEAT BELT NEVER HOLD THE OCCUPANT IN POSITION. SHE FLEW OVER THE DASHBOARD AND HIT IT WITH HER FACE. THE SEAT BELT NEVER RETAIN HER IN POSITION, SO I'M MAKING A COMPLAINT TO INVESTIGATE THIS. THANK YOU *TR
THE CAR USES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. THE PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 45,000 MILES AND CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND HAS SENT ME A TSB. UNDER THE TSB THEY WILL TOP OFF YOUR OIL, SEAL UP ANY WAY THAT OIL GOES IN OR OUT AND YOU DRIVE 1000 MILES AND THEY MEASURE THE OIL TO SEE IF YOU HAVE LOST A FULL QUART. I HAVE NEVER IN MY 40 YEARS OF DRIVING HAD A CAR THAT LOST THAT MUCH OIL. TOYOTA IS AVOIDING TAKING CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO FIX IT. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE BAD PISTONS.

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,165.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND THERE IS A GLARE THAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. *TR
MY TOYOTA CAMRYS DASHBOARD HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE. ITS SCRATCHES EASILY. BUT THIS SUMMER IT STARTED TO FEEL STICKY. AROUND THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY IT WILL ACTUALLY BE SHINY AND MELTED AND AS THE TEMPERATURE GOES DOWN IT WILL GO BACK TO BEING GOOEY, SOFT. WHEN THE SUN IS HIGHEST I HAVE TO PUT MY SUNGLASSES ON TO SHIELD OFF SOME OF THE GLARE ON MY DASH. THE OTHER DAY I DROVE FOR AN HOUR AROUND 3PM AND LATER I WAS SUFFERING FROM A TWITCH IN MY EYE FROM EYE STRAIN FROM THE GLARE OFF MY DASH. A FRIEND OF MINE GOT IN THE CAR AND I HAD FORGOTTEN TO TELL HER NOT TO TOUCH THE DASHBOARD AS IT WAS AROUND 1PM. I KNEW IT WOULD BE MELTING. SHE PLACED HER CELL PHONE ON IT AND AS SOON AS SHE TOOK IT OFF, PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD STUCK TO HER PHONE. I NOW HAVE HOLES ON MY DASH. IT WASN'T HER FAULT AND I DON'T SEE WHY IT SHOULD BE MINE EITHER OR WHY I SHOULD CONTINUE TO PUT UP WITH IT. I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT MY CAR CLEAN AND SERVICED. I HAVE ALWAYS PROTECTED THE INSIDE WITH MOTHERS AND ARMOR ALL. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I MUST HAVE PUT SOMETHING ON IT I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO AND THAT IT WOULD COST 1800 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE DASH. WHY SHOULD I PAY TO FIX A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT? IN MY INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTHERN STATES. CAN SOMETHING PLEASE BE DONE? CAN TOYOTA PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR GREEDY COST CUTTING TACTICS? SO FAR I HAVE ATTENDED NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THIS CAR FOR ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER. HAVING TO TAKE OUT TIME FROM WORK AND MY PERSONAL TIME TO GO FOR ANOTHER RECALL IS NOT WHAT I ENVISIONED WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR. ITS NOT WHAT I SIGNED AND PAID FOR. THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON ALONG WITH ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WARNINGS. OUT OF THE BLUE THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO STOP. WAS LUCKY TO BE IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME. HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. THE TOW DRIVER DID NOT SEE THE WARNING LIGHTS WHEN HE WAS GETTING THE CAR IN POSITION TO TOW IT. CHECK ONLINE AND SAW THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING. I THINK THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED. *TR
I REALIZED THAT MY SRS LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON. AFTER GOING THROUGH VEHICLE MANUAL IT POINTED OUT THAT IT WAS DUE TO DISABLED AIR BAG. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO FAULTY SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY. IT COST ME ABOUT $550 TO GET IT FIXED. I LATER REALIZED THAT THERE WERE MANY OTHER TOYOTA CARS THAT WERE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON, I AM WONDERING WHY TOYOTA CAMRY WAS LEFT OUT AS IT SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO AN ATTENTION AS THE LIT SRS LIGHT COULD HAVE GONE UNNOTICED IF I HADN'T BEEN CAUTIOUS.
