MY DASH BOARD IS STICKY AND MELTED LOOKING. THE GLARE IT CAUSES MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. IF I DON'T WEAR SUNSHADES I CANT SEE. I CALLED TOYOTA TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ALSO MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WILL ONLY WORK OCCASIONALLY. *TR
SUNVISOR IS NOT HOLDING UP. AFTER CONTACTING SEVERAL OF TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS WITH NO AVAIL I AM FINALLY COMPLAINING. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER TOYOTA CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH CAMRY AND CAMRY HYBRIDS SUNVISORS IN MODELS 2007-2011. MANY THANKS *TR
NOTICED DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY UP. IT BLOCKS MY VIEW. WHEN I TRY TO PUT IT UP ( FORWARDS OR BACK, IT JUST FALLS BACK TO THE DOWN POSITION. I REPLACED IT ONCE FOR THE SAME REASON AND IT TURNED OUT THAT IT WAS BROKEN. NOW, ABOUT A YEAR LATER, I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND MY VIN NUMBER SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL, BUT I KNOW THIS IS A POPULAR PROBLEM. *TR
IN SPITE OF KEEPING SUN SHADES UP ALL THE TIME THE CAR IS PARKED, MY DASHBOARD IS INCREASINGLY STICKY AND MELTING. THE SHINY GLARE THAT HAS DEVELOPED ON THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS IN MY EYES AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SAFELY.
AT ABOUT 60 THOUSAND MILES I NOTICED THE DASH BOARD OF MY WIFE'S 2009 CAMRY BEGIN TO BE VERY STICKY AND APPEARED TO BE MELTING. I WENT ONLINE AND PURCHASED A CARPETED DASH COVER FOR IT TO NO AVAIL. THE MATERIAL REMAINED STICKY AND EXTREMELY SOFT TO THE TOUCH. ALSO, IT GIVES A GLARE FROM THE GLASS WHEN DRIVING. WE CONTINUES TO LIVE WITH THIS ISSUE UNTIL I HEARD OF OTHERS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL DEALER (GETTEL TOYOTA, BRADENTON, FL) WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY OFFERED TO RECOVER THE DASH WITH A SYNTHETIC LEATHER MATERIAL FOR THE COST OF $500.00. I SAID TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I DID NOT THINK IT WAS FAIR THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR WHAT IN THIS CASE WAS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE DASH IS NOT A "WEAR AND TEAR" ITEM. AT THAT TIME HE RESCINDED HIS OFFER TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE FOR THE PRICE QUOTED AND I DECIDED TO MAKE THIS CLAIN IN AN EFFORT TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *TR

I PARK MY CAR IN MY GARAGE . I DRIVE THIS CAR EVERYDAY. WHEN I TOUCH THE DASHBOARDS, IT IS SO STICKY. IT SEEMS LIKE THE DASHBOARDS HAVE BEEN MELT . *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY LIKE IT IS MELTING. THE STICKY STUFF ON THE DASHBOARD CREATES A GLARE WHEN THE SUN HITS IT AT CERTAIN ANGLES. ALSO, THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED AND I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL AFFECT THE FUNCTIONING OF THE AIR BAGS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2009 CAMRY IS MELTING. IT CREATES A DANGEROUS, BLINDING GLARE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY RECALLS OF THE DASHBOARD. IT IS VERY STICKY AND CANNOT BE CLEANED WITH ANYTHING AS PAPER STICKS TO IT WHEN WIPED. THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE DASHBOARD THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AND QUICKLY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THESE ISSUES AND RECALL THE DASHBOARDS TO HELP SAVE LIVES. *TR
MY TOYOTA, CAMRY'S DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND THIS IS CAUSING DRIVING SAFETY ISSUES. THE STICKY, MELTING DASHBOARD IS CAUSING A GLARE TO MY WINDOW AND IT PREVENTS ME FROM SEEING THE ROAD PROPERLY, POTENTIALLY CASING A FATAL CAR ACCIDENT. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND THE RADIO GOT REALLY LOUD FOR NO REASON FOR 10 SECONDS AND THEN SUBSIDED. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF THIS AT THE TIME, BUT AFTER WEDNESDAY, I NOW BELIEVE IT MUST HAVE BEEN RELATED SOMEHOW. I WAS SITTING OFF-ROAD WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO PASS BY IN ORDER TO TURN-AROUND AND BEGIN DRIVING SOUTH. I HAD JUST TURNED ON THE CAR AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO MAKE MY APPROXIMATE 175 DEGREE TURN. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR READY TO MOVE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR TRIED LURCHING FORWARD AS THOUGH SOMEONE'S FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO REASSERT MY FOOT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CAR FROM MOVING. MY FOOT HAD NOT LEFT THE BRAKE, THERE WAS NO PERSON OR THING TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR, IT JUST OCCURRED. THE NEWS ABOUT FAULTY ACCELERATORS ENTERED MY MIND. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY FURTHER INCIDENT AT THIS TIME. *TR
THE DASH IS STICKY AND SEEMS TO BE MELTING. YOU CAN TOUCH IT AND IT WILL LEAVE AN IMPRESSION. A COUPLE OF CRACKS HAVE ALSO DEVELOPED. THIS CAR IS NOT THAT OLD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAGS DUE TO THE BREAKDOWN OF THE DASH. I ALSO DID NOT PAY THE PRICE I DID FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THAT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS AFTER ONLY 6 YEARS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $1500 TO REPLACE THE DASH. I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
ON JULY 18, 2014 WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN, I SMELLED A BURNING WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. PULL OVER AT THE NEXT REST STOP TO LOOK THE CAR OVER AND I NOTICE THE HEADLIGHT COVER HAD BURNED. ON JULY 22, 2014, BACK IN TOWN, I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT 51 PREVIOUS BULB MELTED AND DISCOLORED HEADLIGHT HOUSING. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BULB WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP TWO MONTHS AGO. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT NO LIGHT IS ESCAPING FROM HOUSING WHICH MAY CAUSE IT TO OVERHEAT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND ESTIMATE COST TO REPLACE HOUSING - $499.75 (INCLUDES ALL LABOR AND TAXES). MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS BULB MELTED AND CAUSE A BURN ON THE HEADLIGHT COVER, THIS IS A DEFECT AND CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE PAYING FOR A DEFECTIVE PART THAT COST ALMOST $500.00. THIS REQUIRES THE COMPLETE HOUSING TO BE REPLACED AND NOT THE COVER NOR DOES IT REPAIR THE PROBLEM SINCE THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
STICKY DASHBOARD. DEPREACIATED VALUE TO TRY TO SEEL. WHO WOULD WANT IT. FEEL STUCK. FRUSTRATED. STICKY DASHBOARD CAUSING GLARE ON WINDOW THAT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT SUNNY OUT.FEEL CHEATED BY TOYOTA. I HAVE BOUGHT TOYOTAS FOR THE LAST THREE CARS. NOT AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T SELL IT OR EVEN TRADE IT WITHOUT TAKING A LOST ON THE VALUE AND ITS THEIR FAULT NOT MIND. I FEEL TAKEN, SCREWED AND WANT SOMETHING DONE.
STICKY FRONT DASHBOARD ON CAMRY THAT WILL NOT CLEAN OR COME OFF, AND GLARE ON FRONT WINDSHIELD ,THAT CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR
DRIVING NORTH ON A HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCED THE BATTERY CHECK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON, AS WELL AS LOST POWER STEERING. PULLED OFF AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE EXIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, ENGINE WAS NO LONGER POWERING THE WHEELS AND I COASTED TO A STOP ON A RAMP WHERE I WAS FORCED TO WAIT FOR POLICE ASSISTANCE. OPENING THE HOOD I SAW THE SERPENTINE BELT THROWN OFF THE ENGINE AND STEAMING FROM THE BELT SIDE, AFTER POLICE HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT THERE WAS NOTICEABLE WOBBLE IN THE WATER PUMP WHICH ALLOWED ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT AND GET SPRAYED INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO WANTED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN WANTED TO DISASSEMBLE THE ENGINE TO SEE THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS WARPED DUE TO THE LOSS OF COOLANT WHEN THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND THAT THEY SAW THIS OFTEN ENOUGH TO BE SURE OF THE CAUSE. WATER PUMP FAILED AT AROUND 31,000 MILES WITH NO LEAKAGE BEFOREHAND. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAMRY THAT TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO ADMIT TO AND ASSIST IN REPAIRS. DUE TO SELF MAINTENANCE OF CAR THEY CLAIM DAMAGE WAS MOST LIKELY SHOWING AND IGNORED BY US. *TR
I WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND HAVE REQUESTED MY DASHBOARD BE REPLACED AS IT IS MELTING. I CONTINUE TO CHECK BACK BUT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE. IT'S MELTING SO BAD THIS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. HOPEFULLY, THEY WILL REPLACE SO AS TO AVOID A FUTURE SUIT. *TR
I WENT TO A LOCAL DEALER TO GET THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT OF MY CAR DONE. THEY SAID I HAD LEAKING STRUTS AND SHOWED ME. I HAD PURCHASED TOYOTA EXTENDED PLATINUM WARRANTY. I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID STRUTS ARE CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR AND ARE NOT COVERED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF POSTS THAT STATE THAT CAMRY 2009 HAS A VERY COMMON LEAKING STRUTS PROBLEM. TOYOTA IS CHOOSING TO IGNORE IT AS IT COSTS MONEY TO REPLACE THEM. THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT WHEN THERE SHOULD BE ONE AS THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON AND IS SECURITY RISK. CAN SOMEONE THROW ANY IDEAS? I AM GOING TO STOP BUYING TOYOTA PRODUCTS AND GO TO HONDA. THEIR QUALITY HAS CLEARLY GONE DOWN. *TR

IGNORE THE SEAT BELTS ABOVE I HAD TO PUT A DATE AND SOMETHING TO GET THIS TO GO THROUGH. DEALER SUSPECTED CRACK IN ENGINE BLOCK DURING ROUTINE SERVICE. CONFIRMED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. ORIGIN UNKNOWN. VEHICLE NEVER INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT. CRACK EXTENDS FROM MAIN MOTOR MOUNT APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES. NO EXPLANATION. SECOND OWNER. POSITIVE CARFAX. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK AT INTERVALS OF 1,200 MILES AND ANOTHER TIME AT 1,500 MILES TO CHECK THE OIL LEVELS FOR THE MANUFACTURER STANDARDS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PISTON RING POSSIBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID DASHBOARD MELTING IN FLORIDA SUN. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY DUE TO DEFECT. CONTACTED TOYOTA REGARDING DEFECT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT OWNERS LIKE ME ARE OUT OF LUCK. THE COST FOR NEW DASHBOARD IS $1,400. I ASKED IF THEY WERE CERTAIN THAT IT WOULD NOT AFFECT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW FOR SURE. *JS

IT WAS A FRONT END COLLISION AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES. NEITHER OF US WAS INJURED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD THIS BEEN SOMETHING STATIONARY THAT WE HAD THE COLLISION WITH WE WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. CAN YOU TELL ME WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN? TRAVELING ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MPH ON FREEWAY - HEARD RATTLE AND METALLIC SOUNDS SO I PULLED OFF TO SIDE. WHEN MY MECHANIC OPENED UP THE OIL PAN THERE WAS NO OIL AND LOTS OF SMALL METAL SHARDS - BLOWN ENGINE. AS IT HAPPENS I HAD SCHEDULED THE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE (EVERY 5000 MI.) SO ALL I SAW ON THE DASH DISPLAY WAS THE USUAL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE MESSAGE - NO LOW OIL NOTIFICATIONS OR, ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. *TR

MY SISTER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM YET ON THE 5TH TIME THEY REPLACED HER ENGINE NOW THEY TELL ME MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY STANDARDS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE GAUGES WOULD DROP TO ZERO WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING OR ACCELERATING. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. DJR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2009 HAS BECOME VERY STICKY. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN IT BUT CANNOT REMOVE WHATEVER IS MAKING IT STICKY. THIS BECAME NOTICEABLE ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. WHILE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR A PRODUCT TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARD, I HAVE ONLY FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING DASHBOARD STICKY AND MELTING PROBLEMS FROM OTHER TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS. I RESIDE IN FLORIDA, WHICH IS ONE OF THE STATES WITH THE MAJORITY OF COMPLAINTS ARE COMING FROM. SOME OWNERS REPORT THAT THE DASHBOARD IS CAUSING EXTREME GLARE COMING FROM THEIR STICKY DASHBOARD MAKING VISIBILITY AN ISSUE. THE CAR SLOWED BUT DID NOT COME TOA COMPLETE STOP. IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING AN 18 WHEELER IN FRONT OF ME, I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND GRAZED MY CAR AGAINST THE METAL PART OF A RAILING. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO TOYOTA, THEY SAID IT WAS A BRAKE ACTUATOR AND QUOTED ME $3500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD ON MY TOYOTA LOOKED VERY SHINY AND FELT VERY STICKY. AS THE MONTHS WENT ON I NOTICED THAT WHEN THE CAR WAS LEFT IN THE SUN THE DASHBOARD BECAME EXTREMELY STICKY, AND WHEN TOUCHED, THE MELTED MATERIAL STUCK TO MY FINGERS. I BOUGHT A USED 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT THE DEALER HAD INSTALLED NEW GENERAL ALTIMAX HP TIRES ON, SIZE P215/60R16. AFTER ABOUT 45 MILES OF DRIVING THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON AND I FOUND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE DOWN TO 18PSI. WHILE PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRE I NOTICED A LARGE BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL. I PUT THE SPARE ON AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TIRE AT NO COST TO ME, SAYING IT WAS DEFECTIVE. TODAY, I WENT TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED AND THE TECH TOLD ME HE COULD NOT TOUCH THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE AS IT HAD A HUGE BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL. THIS TIRE HAS A TOTAL OF ABOUT 14,000 MILES ON IT. THE BUBBLE IS ABOUT ONE THIRD OF THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TIRE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION ALSO FOUND A SMALLER SIDEWALL BUBBLE FORMING ON DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THESE TIRES MUST ALL HAVE DEFECTS. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL TIRES AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH TIRES THAT COULD BLOWOUT AT ANY MOMENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 CAMRY XLE WITH THE STICKY DASH ISSUE! THE DASH IS TURNING INTO A GLUE LIKE SUBSTANCE. IT ALSO HAS A NOTICEABLE SMELL WHEN IT IS HOT OUT WHERE THE DASH IS LETTING OFF FUMES. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE ! I CALL AND GOT THE STANDARD SYMPATHY STATEMENT OF ITS OUT OF WARRANTY! TO TRY TO GET A DISCOUNT FROM YOUR DEALER? WELL I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MAINE, MOVED TO FLORIDA IN 2010 SO YES THERE IS A LOCAL DEALER BUT NOT WHERE I BOUGHT THIS CAR. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A "CHECK VSC SYSTEMS" ALERT APPEARED FOLLOWED BY A LOUD NOISE. IT APPEARED AS IF MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WENT ON AS WELL. AS I DROVE, SMOKE CAME OUT FROM MY CAR. ON OCTOBER 4, 2013, I PURCHASED 4 TIRES FROM DEALERSHIP. THE 4 TIRES BRAND: COOPER CS4 215/60R16. ON MAY 11, 2014, RETURNING FROM DINNER WITH FAMILY, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE IMMEDIATELY WENT FLAT RESULTING IN CALLING AAA ROADSIDE SERVICE. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A HUGE LUMP ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. IT WAS STATED THAT I MUST HAVE HIT A POTHOLE, WHICH I HAD NOT. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRE. I HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THIS EVENT. *TR
