DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND SHINY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO WEST KENDALL TOYOTA. ADVISOR SAID HE WOULD GET ME A QUOTE. THE QUOTE FOR ME IS $400 TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD. THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND TOYOTA SHOULD COVER THE TOTAL COST. THE SHEEN ON THE DASH ALSO CREATES A GLARE ON SUNNY DAYS, WHICH CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD. TOYOTA IS AVOIDING A RECALL FOR THE USE OF INFERIOR PARTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING, THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED TO 75 MPH AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
SUN VISOR FAILS TO STAY IN UPRIGHT POSITION, FALLS DOWN WHILE DRIVING CREATING AN OBSTRUCTION. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND MELTING. NOW THERE IS A GLARE THAT AFFECTS MY SON WHEN HE IS DRIVING. GLAD TO KNOW WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL DO SOMETHING. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SON TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR. *TR

DASHBOARD HAS BEGUN TO MELT AND IS REALLY STICKY. IT CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS BLINDING!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MY CAR, BUT I TOO HAVE A MELTING DASHBOARD. I SPENT ABOUT $60 FOR A DASH COVER AND THAT WONT EVEN STAY ON THE DASH BECAUSE IN THE FLORIDA HEAT, IT STILL MELTS. MY DASH HAS MARKS IN IT NOW FROM IT MELTING AND IF I EVER DECIDE TO SELL, EVEN WITH THE LOW MILEAGE, IT WILL TAKE AWAY THE VALUE OF MY CAR WHICH IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. *JS
THIS MODEL OF CAR HAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT IN THE PISTONS THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED IN VARIOUS RESOURCES, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RAPIDLY BURN OIL. MY DAUGHTER DETECTED BURNING PLASTIC SMELL INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL STREET, STOPPED THE CAR AND SAW BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE SIDE OF THE WINDOW MASTER SWITCH AND THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I REMEMBERED THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE FIRE HAZARD OF THE MASTER SWITCH AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON APRIL 15. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND IT WILL BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR IT. I CALLED AND OPEN A CASE (# [XXX]) WITH THEIR CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP DEPARTMENT WHILE I WAS WAITING AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, REPORTING THAT THE PROBLEM MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING PROVES THAT THE RECALL COVERAGE WAS TOO NARROW AND IT IS ENDANGERING ALL THE OWNERS THAT WERE NOT COVERED. THE REP. ([XXX]) PROMISED TO PROVIDE ME AN ANSWER IN 2 BUSINESS DAYS BUT THE CALL BACK NEVER HAPPENED. HIGHLY EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION THAT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME NOW UP TO 2 QUARTS IN 1,200 MILES! TOYOTA DENIES THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WHICH THEY MUST KNOW IS A LIE!!!
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND IS EXTREMELY STICKY. THIS CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS DASHBOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE ADVISE! I'LL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU!
MELTING DASHBOARD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK AND THE ABS LIGHT AND RED BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, THE RPM GAUGE WAS GOING UP AND DOWN. I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE LIGHTS CAME BACK. I TOOK IT INTO JUST A JIFFY LUBE BECAUSE IT WAS THE CLOSEST CAR PLACE NEAR ME. THEY CHECKED THE BRAKE LIGHTS, BRAKE FLUID, CAR BATTERY, AND CHECKED FOR FUNCTIONAL ISSUES. THERE WERE NONE. I TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC THAT CAME BACK WITH CODE U0029 FOR COMMUNICATION LOSS AT SKID CONTROL (ECU) - ENGINE CONTROL UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO CHECKED OUT ALL OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR AND DID NOT FIND ANY OTHER ISSUES. THEY GAVE A $2K ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE ECU. THE CAR IS STILL DRIVEABLE AND THE LIGHTS STILL COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES WHEN THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON THOUGH, THE AIR CONDITIONING STOPS WORKING AND THEN THE SPEDOMETER STICKS AT 0. IF I STOP THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON, IT SOMETIMES CLEARS UP. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I HAD MY LAST TOYOTA FOR 14 YEARS AND DROVE IT FOR 239K MILES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF A USUALLY RELIABLE VEHICLE AND THINK IT MUST BE A DEFECT. *TT
CONTACT STOP LAMP SWITCH IN BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY FAILED CAUSING SHIFT LEVER TO BECOME LOCKED IN "PARK" POSITION AND VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. APPEARS TO BE AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 12V091000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING 20 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VEER TO THE LEFT, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ROLL OVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY 2009 CAMRY HYBRID WITH 79,000 MILES HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE RED TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THE BRAKES TOTALLY FAILED. THERE HAD BEEN A BUZZING/ HISSING SOUND THAT IS SIMILAR TO THE NORMAL HYBRID BATTERY RECHARGING SOUND BUT MUCH MORE OFTEN - ALMOST CONSTANT. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS UNSAFE TO OPERATE, NO BRAKING POWER WHATSOEVER. PEDAL WAS ROCK HARD. DEALER SAYS IT IS THE BRAKE ACTUATOR AND GAVE AN ESTIMATE OF $3000 TO REPAIR IT! THEY CLAIM TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS, YET AN INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA WAS IMPLEMENTED IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR DUE TO MANY COMPLAINTS. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SAFETY HAZARD, HAD I BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR IN A CONGESTED AREA AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND THIS MODEL YEAR - 2009 - NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE ENGINE RPM'S SUDDENLY INCREASED AS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000. UPDATED 5/19/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THAT AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE INVESTIGATED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND INSURANCE COMPANY, IT WAS FOUND THAT NOTHING INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THEREFORE, THE FAILURE WAS NOT A DESIGN DEFECT. ALL DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. UPDATED 05/28/2014 *JS
BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE. CHECK VSC LIGHT CAME ON. CHECK ABS, PARKING BRAKE STAYED LIT, EXCLAMATION MARK, AND EXCLAMATION MARK INSIDE RED TRIANGLE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR HOME, BUT BRAKES SEEMED TO "GRAB" AND NOT BE AS RESPONSIVE. WILL TAKE CAR TO MECHANIC TOMORROW, BUT AM READING THAT THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH 2007-2009 HYBRIDS AND WANTED TO REPORT. *TR

THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE TECHNICIAN RECENTLY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STRUT ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY HELPED TO SOLVE AND IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000. UPDATED 10/7/14*CN
I WAS DRIVING ON I 90 WESTBOUND ON 03/01/2014 AROUND 10:48 PM .THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE DIFFICULT AS IT WAS SNOWING AND THE HIGHWAY LANES WERE NOT CLEAR EXCEPT THE 3RD LANE WHICH I WAS ON AND IT SEEMED SAFER THAN THE OTHER TWO LANES. THE WEATHER WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLES TO DRIVE AT SPEEDS WELL BELOW 50 MPH AS I WAS APPROACHING THE BARRINGTON ROAD EXIT I SIGNALED AND WAITED FOR THE TRAFFIC TO CLEAR A LITTLE SO I CAN SAFELY PROCEED TO THE SECOND LANE.AS I STARTED MAKING THE MOVE TOWARDS THE SECOND LANE BUT NOT FULLY CHANGING LANES THE CAR STARTED SKIDDING AND I HAD TRIED TO STEER IT SO THAT IT GOES TOWARDS THE LEFT SHOULDER WESTBOUND .I APPLIED THE BRAKES VERY SLOWLY SO I DO NOT HIT THE CENTER WALL AND GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE OTHER MOTORISTS AND STOP SAFELY BUT AS I APPROACHED THE LEFT SHOULDER THE CAR HIT THE WALL AND TURNED AROUND WITH THE CAR POSITIONED FRONT TO THE UPCOMING TRAFFIC BUT STILL ON THE SHOULDER.AS THE CAR TURNED AROUND THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF AN INCOMING CAR HIT THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND PUSHED IT UP THE CENTER CONCRETE WALL. THE CAR STOPPED ON THE WALL(YES ON THE WALL STANDING IN BETWEEN BOTH EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND LANES). I CALLED 911 IMMEDIATELY AND THEY SENT THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TO INVESTIGATE. THE AMBULANCE CAME BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED SERIOUSLY OR TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. ONLY THE SEATBELT AND A GOOD AMOUNT OF LUCK MADE IT THAT I AM ALIVE AND WRITE YOU THIS. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELT WORKED EFFECTIVELY IS THAT WHEN THE OTHER VEHICLE HIT ME IN FRONT OF THE CAR THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FOR THAT REASON I AM FEARFUL THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS AND NEEDS TO BE FULLY INVESTIGATED. THE CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT BEFORE AND IT WAS RECENTLY AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR A OIL CHANGE AND THE VEHICLE HAD RECENTLY A MULTI POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION. *TR
DASH IS MELTING WITH THE AZ HEAT. LOOKS TERRRIBLE.
DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH 2.4L 4-CYLINDER ENGINE AND 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY DROPPED TO 0 AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD ILLUMINATED. THE CAR DID NOT CEASE NORMAL OPERATION AND THE BRAKES APPEARED TO STILL FUNCTION AND THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE AS NORMAL. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE DID NOT MOVE AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ILLUMINATED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WITH NO NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN BRAKING ABILITY. THEN, THE SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY JUMPED BACK TO 60 MPH AND APPEARS TO OPERATE PROPERLY. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED OFF. THERE WERE NO NOTICEABLE CHANGES IN THE OPERATION OF THE CAR. THAT THE SAME NIGHT, THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS RETURNED 2 MORE TIMES JUST AS THEY HAD OCCURRED BEFORE WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. DURING ONE EPISODE, THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED DURING A COMPLETE STOP AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INACTIVE AFTER LEAVING THE STOP. AGAIN, AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE SPEEDOMETER RETURNED TO CORRECT OPERATION AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD TURNED OFF. *TR
CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH, WENT DOWN MY DRIVE WAY, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD IT TOWED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD COOLANT IN CYLINDERS AND ENGINE WAS WRECKED. *TR
IN THE FIVE YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR, FOUR TIMES IT HAS ACCELERATED RAPIDLY FOR NO REASON. THE CAR JUST JUMPS FORWARD BY 5 OR 6 FEET. THE LAST TIME, I WAS PARKING THE CAR, WITH MY FOOT BARELY ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT SUDDENLY LEAPED FORWARD. I WOULD HAVE HIT A PEDESTRIAN ON THE SIDEWALK, EXCEPT THAT THE CAR GOT STUCK ON A SNOWBANK. I HAVE REPORTED THESE INCIDENTS TO TOYOTA, WHICH INVESTIGATED AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY IS MELTING LEAVING A VERY SHINING EFFECT THAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE DUE TO THE GLARE. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN IT BUT NOTHING WORKS AND EVERTHING STICKS TO IT. I UNDERSTAND TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHNG TO REPAIR IT. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT ON TO THE HIGHWAY AT A VERY SLOW SPEED WHEN MY ACCELERATOR STUCK ALL OF THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THERE WAS A JEEP NEXT TO ME AND HE HAD TO PULL INTO THE OUTSIDE LANE TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ME. THE CAR HAS BEEN ACCELERATING AND THEN SLOWING DOWN ON ITS OWN AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE RPM'S INCREASE AND THE GO BACK TO THE NORMAL READING WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. YOU CAN HEAR THE ENGINE REV UP HIGHER AND THEN GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL READING. *TR
I OWN A 2009 CAMRY WHICH I BOUGHT AS A NEW CAR. FEW DAYS AGO I WAS APPROACHING MY GARAGE DRIVEWAY AT A NORMAL SLOW SPEED WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BY ITS OWN. I TRIED TO PRESS THE BRAKE AT HARD AS I COULD TO STOP THE CAR BUT IT CONTINUE TO SPEED UP TILL IT SMASHED INTO THE GARAGE WALL AND BROKE IT. THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE THE STAIR CASE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL GO DISPLACED AND SHATTERED. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I KEPT ON PRESSING THE BRAKES BUT THE WHEELS WERE ROTATING SO FAST THAT THE FRONT TIRE GOT BURST AFTER RUBBING SO FAST AGAINST THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO STOP AFTER THE IMPACT BUT THE ENTIRE GARAGE AND THE HOUSE WAS FULL OF BLACK SMOKE DUE TO BURNING TIRES. THIS UNCONTROLLED SUDDEN ACCELERATION MIGHT KILL SOMEONE IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM AND MUST BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY TO AVOID SIMILAR CASES IN FUTURE. WE DEMAND THAT THE REGULATORY AGENCIES AND STATE AND FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION BOARDS SHALL INVESTIGATE THIS CASE AND AVOID SIMILAR FUTURE INCIDENTS. *TR
MY DAUGHTER OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN KEPT IN GREAT CONDITION, AND MY WIFE HAS BEEN DRIVING IT FOR THE PAST 18 MONTHS. WE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE DASH BOARD ON THE VEHICLE HAS GOUGES IN IT (ON THE AREA THAT HANGS OVER ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL) AND WE REALIZED THAT MERELY ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE DASH BOARD WITH YOUR FINGERNAILS (AS ONE COULD DO ACCIDENTALLY IF YOU WERE DRIVING AND TURNING THE WHEEL) IS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE NAILS TO "SINK IN" AND CAUSE A PERMANENT SCAR IN THE DASH BOARD. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD, WHEN YOU TOUCH IT, IS "STICKY", OR "TACKY", ALMOST LIKE DRYING PAINT OR TAR. IT'S SO SOFT, THAT CONCEIVABLY, YOU COULD TAKE AN ICE CREAM SCOOP AND SCOOP OUT ENTIRE CHUNKS. MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY ALSO HAS THE SAME ISSUE. I DID NOT CLEAN MY DASH BOARD WITH ANY POLISH. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT .. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED AND WAS PLACED IN A 1,000 MILE CONSUMPTION TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,800.
MY VEHICLE HAS A STICKY MELTED DASHBOARD THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO SUPPORT THE RECALL OF THIS DASHBOARD. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THE DASHBOARD WAS APPROXIMATELY $1400 THAT I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY. I STILL OWE MY VEHICLE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS STICKY- MIRROR ALMOST-MELTING DASHBOARD. EXCELLENT VEHICLE BUT DISAPPOINTED ON THIS PART OF IT. FROM THE START OF THIS YEAR I HAVE REALIZED THAT MY DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE MELTING. ITS STICKY AND SHINY AND THE SHININESS BECOMES DISTRACTING. I CANT WIPE IT MUCH BECAUSE PARTICLES WILL STICK TO IT. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS DECREASED AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILULRES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,200.
WHILE DRIVING S ON I95 JUST NORTH OF PONTE VEDRA EXIT BETWEEN JACKSONVILLE AND ST. AUGUSTINE, FL A LARGE PIECE OF TIRE RETREAD/RECAP CAME DOWN IN MY LANE AND I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO HIT IT GOING BETWEEN 65-70MPH CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS AND UNKNOWN DAMAGE UNDERNEATH UNTIL IT IS CHECKED OUT. TIRE RECAP CAUSES MANY ACCIDENTS OR VEHICULAR DAMAGE WITH NO REPERCUSSIONS. IF I WERE TO DROP LARGE ITEMS FROM MY VEHICLE THAT DAMAGED OTHER VEHICLES OR CAUSED ACCIDENTS, THERE WOULD BE SEVERE REPERCUSSIONS. FIRST INCIDENT: TEMPERATURE WAS EXTREMELY COLD OVERNIGHT. PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED CAR AND REMAINED ON THROUGHOUT MY 10-MINUTE TRIP. I THOUGHT CAR HAD STALLED BECAUSE MY BRAKES DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK SO I COASTED PAST THE DRIVEWAY. I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS STILL ON SO I SLOWLY DROVE TO THE NEXT DRIVEWAY. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, RESTARTED IT, AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. I SLOWLY DROVE BACK TO WORK AND NOTICED THE BRAKES WORKED ALBEIT NOT VERY WELL. WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS DISAPPEARED. SECOND INCIDENT: TEMPERATURE WAS EXTREMELY COLD OVERNIGHT. ALTHOUGH THE BRAKES WORKED IN REDUCED CAPACITY, I STOPPED IN TIME BUT I WAS DRIVING 25 MPH. I WAS NEAR A TOYOTA DEALER SO I SLOWLY MADE MY WAY THERE WITH ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND REDUCED BRAKE CAPACITY. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS DISAPPEARED SHORTLY AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR IN THE DEALER'S MAINTENANCE SHOP. DEALER COULD FIND NO HISTORY OF EITHER INCIDENT IN THE COMPUTER LOG. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON 1/20/2014 I NOTICED A LOUD METAL CLANKING NOISE COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO UNSTABLE TO DRIVE AND IT FELT "ROUGH" ON 20/30 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER ON 1-27-2014 WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW AND WHERE ALL THE MAINTENANCE ROUTINE SERVICES HAD BEEN DONE TO DATE I WAS TOLD THAT THE RIGTH FRONT COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN, THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THAT I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF THE LOT BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS. THE REPAIRS COSTED ME $2077.44. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS OUTSIDE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY GAVE ME A CASE # 1402280082. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND I AM STILL AWAITING MEDIATION. TODAY, 4/15/2014 LESS THAN THREE MONTHS FROM THE TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AND I HAD ALL THOSE REPPPPPAIRS DONE, WHILE DRIVING THE SAME CAR AT 50-55 MPH THE SAME RATTLING METAL LOUD NOISE BUT ONLY WORSE HAPPENED AND THE CAR BECAME VERY UNSTABLE. MY HUSBAND CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT THE COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER FRONT SIDE IS BROKEN. I CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE CAR IN TOMORROW, 4/16/2014 TO BE INSPECTED. I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HERE ON YOUR WEBSITE OF OVER 50 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH FRONTS SUSPENSION ON 2009 CAMRY'S. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED ON THESE VEHICLES FOR THESE ISSUES SINCE IT ENDANGERS PEOPLE'S LIVES. PLEASE HELP! MY OIL LIGHT BLINKED ONCE ON MY WAY HOME. I CHECKED THE OIL THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE STARTING THE CAR AND IT SHOWED NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK! WE ADDED 4 1/2 QTS OF OIL. I HAD NEVER BEEN SO MUCH AS A 1/2 QT LOW AT OIL CHANGE. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. THE OIL LIGHT NEVER STAYED ON AS A WARNING. MY MOTOR COULD HAVE CONCEIVABLY BURNED UP WITHOUT MY KNOWING THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG. MY 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE IS NOW USING AT LEAST 1/2 - 1 QTS OF OIL EVERY 1200 MILES. WE HAVE A 1999 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH 245,000 MILES THAT ONLY USES APPROX. 1/2 QT OIL PER 3,000 MILES. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I CAN SEE THAT MINE IS NOT A SINGULAR EVENT. TOYOTA SHOULD BE MADE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING LOT THE WARNING LITE & DISPLAY SAID VSC WITH TWO BRAKE RELATED SYMBOLS TURNED ON & BRAKES LOST ITS POWER ASSIST. WAS ABLE DRIVE HOME WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY GIVING A LOT OF ROOM TO STOP, MADE A APPOINTMENT WITH TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. DROVE DOWN WAS CHARGED TO TROUBLESHOOT THEY FOUND THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR HAD INTERNAL FAILURE, ALSO WAS INFORMED FOR THAT AREA OF THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO IT WOULD COST $4200 FOR PARTS & LABOR. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF SPARE COIN SITTING AROUND. SO I BROUGHT IT HOME & PARKED IT, I HOPE WE CAN DRIVE TOYOTA TO MAKE A RECALL. BRAKE HYDRAULIC PARTS SHOULD LAST 100,000 MILES. *TR

VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP; GIVEN A LOANER. 5 DAYS LATER NOTIFIED TO PICK UP VEHICLE. INFORMED BY DEALER "THE FLOOR MAT TICKING CAUSED THE PEDAL TO STICK". SAME FLOOR MATS HAVE BEEN IN VEHICLE SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE 5 YEARS AGO. *TR
REAR TRUNK RELEASE SWITCH RUBBER IS BAD, SOFT, STICKY AND HARD TO OPEN TRUNK WITH THE BAD RUBBER, ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE SWITCH A $70 SWITCH FOR A $1 RUBBER? NOT A FIX FOR A BAD SWITCH DESIGN. THE VISORS ARE BOTH BROKEN AND DO NOT STAY IN FIXED POSITION. I WENT TO 10 JUNKYARDS TO BUY REPLACEMENTS BUT THEY ALL SAID THAT SAME THING. THAT THESE VISORS ARE ALL DEFECTIVE AND THEY SELL THEM IMMEDIATELY. THEY HAVE SOME SORT OF FACTORY DEFECT THAT MAKES THEM CRACK INTERNALLY. THERE IS ALSO SOME OILY RESIDUE ON THE DASHBOARD THAT IS STICKY AND SHINNY. SO MUCH SO THAT IN THE DAYTIME IT IS HARD TO SEE. JUST WHAT IS THIS GOO ? I CANT GET THE STICKY STUFF OFF AND NOW THE SUN IS BLINDING ME AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE VISORS. I THOUGHT THAT THE STICKY STUFF ON THE DASHBOARD WAS ONLY MY CAR BUT IT SEEM OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
