I TOO HAVE THE STICKY DASHBOARD ISSUE WITH MY CAMRY. I TRY TO CLEAN IT BUT IT JUST COLLECTS MORE STUFF. IT IS SUPER STICKY AND CAUSES AN EXTREME GLARE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I LIKE MY CAMRY BUT DUE TO THIS ISSUE I AM PRETTY POSITIVE I WILL LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR MY NEXT VEHICLE. *TR
THE CAR DASH BOARD IS MELTING AWAY. IT GETS VERY STICKY AND IF BARELY TOUCHED CHIPS AWAY IN CHUNKS. WHEN THE SUN HITS THE DASH IT MAKES A GLARE THAT HAS MANY TIMES ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK THE CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE.IT SMELLS WEIRD. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR CONSTANTLY DROOPS AND SAGS, UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CLOSED POSITION. U.S. MADE CAMRYS WERE SUBJECT TO RECALL. THIS SUBJECT CAMRY WAS MADE IN JAPAN IMPORTED TO U.S.
I PURCHASED MY 2009 CAMRY LE BRAND NEW IN JULY OF 2008 FROM TOYOTA. DURING A RECENT ROUTINE SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE, ONE OF THE MECHANICS NOTED IN THE SYSTEM THAT MY CAR WAS EXCESS OIL IN JUNE OF 2013. TOYOTA SUGGESTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. IN MAY OF 2014 THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TO TOYOTA WITH APPROX. 85,000 MILES. TOYOTA DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY OIL CONSUMPTION, AND THE CAR WAS IN FACT BURNING MORE OIL THAN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THEY ASKED MY PERMISSION TO REMOVE THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD, DUE TO THEIR BELIEF THAT THEY OIL WAS LEAKING INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. AFTER THEIR REMOVAL OF THE ENGINE HEAD, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT OIL HAD LEAKED INSIDE OF THE PISTONS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE PISTON RINGS. THE SERVICE ADVISER AND SERVICE DIRECTOR TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A "KNOWN PROBLEM". THE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. IN TURN, I ASKED THEM WHETHER THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THEY PHYSICALLY POINTED TO SIX TOYOTA CAMRY''S WHO WERE ALL GETTING ENGINE REPLACEMENTS (SHORT BLOCK ONLY) DUE TO THE SAME RING FAILURES. WHEN I PROBED WHETHER THIS WAS A RECALL, THEY SAID TOYOTA HAS NOT RECALLED THIS BUT HAS ISSUED SEVERAL TECHNICAL MEMOS' ABOUT THE ISSUE. AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT ENGINE FAILURE IN FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE VEHICLES FOR THE SAME REASONS I WAS COMPELLED TO NOTIFY YOUR AGENCY. IT IS VERY APPARENT THAT TOYOTA HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THEIR ENGINES AT LEAST IN THE 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. UNFORTUNATELY, MANY CONSUMERS HAVE LOST MONEY, VEHICLES EVEN TO THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT TOYOTA OWNING UP TO WHAT THEIR SERVICE MANAGERS AND MECHANICS DESCRIBED TO ME AS A 'DESIGN FLAWS IN THEIR ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THEY REDESIGNED THE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WHICH THEY ARE NOW PUTTING INTO THEIR NEW CARS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEED, RPM AND TEMPERATURE NEEDLES DROPPED TO ZERO, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE A/C COMPRESSOR STOPPED WORKING WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING @ 75 MPH... THE REST OF THE SYSTEMS WERE WORKING NORMALLY... AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES, THE ABOVE MENTIONED SYSTEMS STARTING WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN WITH NO LINGERING EFFECTS ON THE CAR... BUT AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES IT HAPPENED AGAIN... AND THE PROBLEM STARTED TO HAPPEN IN A CYCLE AS FREQUENTLY AS 5 MINUTES BUT AS LONG AS 30 MINUTES... THIS WILL ALSO HAPPEN WHILE IN PARK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PCM AND STILL HAS A PROBLEM THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AFTER A WEEK TRYING... ANY IDEAS? IT IS DRIVING US CRAZY! *TR
LAST YEAR ON AUGUST 2012, MY CAR STOP RUNNING AND I BROUGHT TO ONE OF THE MECHANIC THAT TOWED AND FIXED MY WATER PUMP. THIS YEAR, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER FOR SOME RECALLS AND FIND OUT THAT MY ANTIFREEZE IS ENTERED TO MY WATER PUMP AGAIN AND NEED TO REPLACE WITH NEW ONE... TOTAL COST WILL BE MORE THAN 650.00 DOLLARS. I WONDER IF THERE ANY RECALL FOR THIS MATTER BEFORE OR DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM EVERY YEARS!!! PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. THANKS *TR
THE SEAT BELT (FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE) WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE RISES INSIDE THE CAAR. IT WILL ENGAGE EARLY IN THE MORNING, BUT NOT LATER DURING THE DAY. TOYOTA REFUSED TO GIVE THE NAME OF THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE SEAT BELTS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM WITH THE TOYOTA CAMRY AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A CONSISTANT PROBLEM WITH THESE SEAT BELTS IN THE FRONT ESPECIALLY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I WAS TOLD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER (WHICH I DID) AND HAVE IT CHECKED, BUT I DO NOT THINK THEY ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
CAR PARKED IN SUN, DASHBOARD MATERIAL GETTING VERY STICKY/GOOEY. IF TOUCHED, IT GETS DAMAGED. IT SHOWS A VERY SHINY APPEARANCE WHEN HOT ( LIKE IF YOU USED A TIRE SHINE ON IT), ON SUNNY DAYS IT CREATES A LOT OF GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AFFECTING VISIBILITY. DASH CANNOT BE WIPED WITH ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS VERY STICKY AND GOOEY. I CAN ACCEPT DASHBOARD DAMAGE ON A 10YEAR PLUS CAR, BUT NOT ON A 4 YEAR OLD CAR.THIS IS CLEARLY A MATERIAL DEFECT AND IT PROMPTS FOR A RECALL. SPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE GLARE ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD THE DASH CREATES WHEN IT IS VERY HOT. LOTS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS IN MANY INTERNET FORUMS. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL FILL OUT A COMPLAIN TO GET THIS MATTER RESOLVED BY TOYOTA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION IN MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CAR DAMAGE WAS BEYOND REPAIR AND IS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT AS THEY SHOULD HAVE. *TR

MY DASHBOARD APPEARS TO BE MELTING, IT IS STICKY AND CAUSING AN AWFUL GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IN TURN RESTRICTS VISION THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, PLEASE HELP, TOYOTA SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO? *TR
THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING AND VERY STICKY TO THE TOUCH. IT ALSO IS VERY SOFT AND EASILY KNICKED BY TOUCH REMOVING A PIECE OF THE DASH. YOU CAN NOT CLEAN THE DASH BECAUSE THE CLOTH WILL STICK LEAVING LINT BEHIND. I HAVE NEVER USED ANY CLEANER OF ANY KIND TO CLEAN THE DASH. I HAVE ALWAYS USED A DRY CLOTH FOR CLEANING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON CA HIGHWAY 80 WEST FROM WORK WHEN SUDDENLY, MY DRIVER SIDE VISOR DROPPED DOWN IN FRONT OF MY WINDSHIELD. I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS TOYOTA PART BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS MODEL IN 2009. THIS VISOR DOES NOT SEEM TO RETURN TO IT'S UP POSITION COMPLETELY SINCE 2009. NOW, IN 2013, THIS VISOR HAS COMPLETELY FAILED TO RETURN TO IT'S UPRIGHT POSITION AND CAN OBSTRUCT MY VIEW WHEN I DRIVE. I WISH TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE THIS VISOR SINCE IT IS A "SAFETY" ISSUE WHEN A PART CAN OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER'S SIDE. 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, SHE DETECTED A SLIGHT CHALLENGE AS SHE SHIFTED THE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO HAVE DISAPPEARED. UNFORTUNATELY, SUBSEQUENT INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. DURING HER DRIVE ON JUNE 1, 2013, THE CLUTCH PEDAL BECAME SLUGGISH AND DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RETURN TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION UPON RELEASE AND WITHIN SECONDS, IT STAYED STUCK TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. ALTHOUGH, SHE WAS NOT CHARGED, THE SERVICE INCLUDED AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND A TEST DRIVE. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS SUGGESTED SHE RETURN THE VEHICLE FOR FURTHER EVALUATION IF THE ISSUE BECAME PROBLEMATIC. THE PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH AND EVENTUALLY THE STICK RESURFACED SEVERAL HOURS AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY, HOSE, TUBE AND CLUTCH RELEASE.
THE DASHBOARD IS REALLY STICKY AND HAS GATHER DEBRIS FROM MY SUNSHADE. THERE ARE ALSO SOME CRACKS FORMING. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. THAT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY (SINCE IT'S 5 YEARS OLD AND 42K MILES) AND I CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF I WANTED THEM TO LOOK AT IT, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $115 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE GUY WHO HELPED ME EVEN LOOKED FOR ANY RECALLS BUT FOUND NONE. SO NOW I JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. I CAN SEE IT BECOMING A REALLY BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDOW AREA OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT.? SOME PEOPLE'S DASHBOARDS ARE WORSE THAN MINE BECAUSE OF THE SUN. I FEEL LIKE A COUPLE YEARS DOWN THE ROAD, I WILL BE UNABLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT IS SO REFLECTIVE DURING THE DAYLIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, BUT TOYOTA HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT. *TR

MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY'S DASHBOARD HAS MELTED. IT HAS BECOME A STICKY, SHINY MESS. I TRIED TO PUT REFLECTIVE SHADES IN THE WINDSHIELD TO HELP SLOW THE DISINTEGRATION. UPON REMOVING IT TO DRIVE THE CAR ONE AFTERNOON SHORTLY AFTER I STARTED USING IT, PART OF THE VINYL WAS MELTED TO THE SHIELD AND RIPPED OFF THE DASHBOARD LEAVING THE ORANGE FOAM SHOWING. THE SAFETY HAZARD COMES FROM THE SHINY "PUDDLES" OF MELTED DASH. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY REFLECTIVE AND CAN BE BLINDING IN SUNLIGHT. THE GLARE IS DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. I CANNOT LAY ANYTHING ON THE DASH TO REDUCE THE GLARE, BECAUSE THE VINYL WILL ADHERE TO IT AND PEEL AWAY LIKE IT DID WITH THE SUN SHIELD. WHILE IT HAS NOT YET CAUSED AN ACCIDENT FOR ME, I CAN SEE WHERE IT MAY HAVE FOR OTHERS. AS THE CARS AGE FURTHER, MORE OF THE DASH WILL BECOME MELTED. EVENTUALLY, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE ON THE ROAD WITH THE EQUIVALENT OF A SPOTLIGHT BLINDING THEM WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING. HOPEFULLY, A SAFETY SOLUTION WILL BE HAD BEFORE THEN. ANOTHER PROBLEM THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW, THE WINDSHIELD DOES NOT HAVE GOOD CLARITY WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. I HAVE CLEANED IT SO MANY WAYS AND REPLACED THE WIPER ARMS, BUT IT HAS A SMEAR, OR FILM, THAT MAKES IT HIGHLY DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH IN WET CONDITIONS. *TR
TOYOTA CAMRY 2009. WHEN DASH HEATS UP IT STARTS SHINNING AND CAUSE GLARE ON WINDSHIELD, IT CAUSES OBSTRUCTIVE VISION TO THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY OF THE ROADWAY. IN ADDITION, THE MATERIAL ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD BECOME VERY STICKY AND APPEARED TO BE MELTING. GLARE IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
THE CARE IS BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. SO MUCH SO THAT THE ENGINE CAN FAIL AND SHUT DOWN DURING NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURES THIS IS DANGEROUS, TO ME, MY FAMILY AND EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUES AND HASN'T RECALLED THE CARS TO BE FIXED. TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY WRECKS OR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE KNOW ISSUE AND SHOULD VOLUNTARY FIX ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE. .
I HAVE ALWAYS SERVICE THE VEHICLE WHICH IS IN GREAT CONDITIONS AND ALL OF SUDDEN I START NOTICE A CLICKING NOISE IN THE TOYOTA CAMRY STEERING (EXAMPLE BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND TURNS. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A PRODUCT DEFECTIVE FOR CAMRY INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THERE MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND JUST TO REPLACE THE PART THEY ARE CHARGING $236.52 FOR THE PART ONLY NOT INCLUDING THE LABOR WHICH IS TO EXPENSIVE. *TR
COMPLETE FAILURE OF BRAKING SYSTEM. REPLACED AT COST OF $3,194.61. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT. IT IS CAUSING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE DASH MELTING AND BECOMING SHINNY. THE DASHBOARD IS BECOMING SO SOFT THAT YOU CAN LEAVE FINGER PRINTS OR INDENTS IN IT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (CRAMER TOYOTA IN VENICE FL) THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR THREE YEARS FOR THE DASH, RECOMMENDED A DASH COVER. THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE SEEN MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2007-2009 CAMRY MODELS ACROSS THE COUNTRY MELTING. *TR
I WENT TO MECHANIC FOR OIL CHANGE AND BEEN ADVISED THAT THE ALL STRUTS ARE LEAKING. FRONT STRUTS ARE IN REALLY BED SHAPE. TOTAL COST IS ABOUT $ 1600. I DID SOME SEARCH ON GOOGLE AND MECHANIC ALSO TOLD ME THIS IS WELL KNOWN ISSUE FOR 2009 CAMRY, AND ADVISE US TO CONTACT TOYOTA. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND TOYOTA WAS AWARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE BULLETIN BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN FROM THEIR SIDE. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NO SUPERVISOR ONSITE, IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH ANSWER. THEY CLOSED MY CASE ON PHONE ONLY. OUR MECHANIC STATED FOR SAFETY, STRUTS HAS TO BE REPLACED. AS TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS; BUT THESE PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE SO NOT READY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM DRIVING THIS CAR EVERYDAY WITH MY SON (AGE 6) I HOPE GOVERNMENT WILL INTEFERE AND WILL MAKE TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT FOR ALL CASES. APPROXIMATE MILES: 40500. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,020. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

UPON RESEARCHING THE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST OF MY 2009 CAMRY LE, I FOUND LOTS OF ONLINE FORUMS WITH OWNERS OF THE CAMRY THAT HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I CALLED TOYOTAS CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE, HOWEVER JUST BY A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH I FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS HIGHLIGHTING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME CAR AND ALL EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE POST 60K MILES, WHICH IS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. I ALSO WENT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SEEMED VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE BUT [XXX] FROM NORTH HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA STATED THAT TOYOTA?S CORPORATE OFFICE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD, AS EACH TIME I POWER ON THE CAR AFTER AN HR OF THE CAR BEING UNDER THE HOT OR COLD WEATHER AND A BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE COMES OUT OF MY EXHAUST VENT. IT STARTED GETTING WORSE MONTHS BY MONTH, FINALLY BY AUGUST,2014,IT TOTALLY CANNOT FLIP BACK TO ORIGINAL TOP . IT CANNOT BE USED TO BLOCK SUN LIGHT FROM THE FRONT IN THE MORNING OR EVENING TIME. IT CAUSE SAFETY ISSUE. I COMPLAINT TO TOYOTA FOR EXCHANGE. BUT DEALER WANT ME TO WAIT FOR AT LEAST 4 - 6 WEEKS TO GET PARTS. *TR
I TURNED ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2009 HYBRID IN THE GARAGE AND WAS IMMEDIATELY MET BY NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS, AN AUDIBLE WARNING BUZZER, AND A MESSAGE IN THE DASH MESSAGE CENTER THAT READ "CHECK VSC." I WAS GOING TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A MECHANIC BUT DISCOVERED THAT WHEN I BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKING ACTION. THEY HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE CAR WAS PLACED ON A COMPUTER WHICH PROVIDED ERROR CODE C1256 AND C1391. BOTH CODES INDICATE ABS/VSC/TRAC MALFUNCTIONS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND SUPPLIED A COMPUTER PRINT OUT OF THE ERROR CODES. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN INTERNAL LEAK IN THE ABS ACCUMULATOR MODULE RESULTING IN A LOSS OF HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. COST OF REPLACEMENT WITH LABOR WAS QUOTED AS $3,700.00. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS WITH IDENTICAL PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED. I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA HAS REDESIGNED THE ABS ANNUNCIATOR MODULE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN CALIFORNIA WHO DENIED ANY A PROBLEM WITH THE PART. IF THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM, WHY DID THEY REDESIGN THE PART? THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IN RESULTED IN TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT MY ISSUE MANIFESTED ITSELF WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND NOT AT 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ONE WEBSITE SET UP BY SOMEONE WHO EXPERIENCED THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM HAD THIRTY FIVE ENTRIES IN THE GUEST BOOK. EVERYONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I HAD MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 50 TO 55 MPH ON A VERY NARROW CONSTRUCTION ROAD. I WAS SHARING THIS NARROW ROAD WITH A SEMI AT THIS POINT. AS I TRIED TO GIVE A LITTLE ROOM BETWEEN THE SEMI AND MY VEHICLE, I SUDDEN HIT THE EDGE OF THE ROAD WHERE THERE WERE GRAVELS AND IMMEDIATELY MY VEHICLE STARTED SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL AND ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY, IN AND OUT OF A DITCH AND FINALLY HIT A TREE AND THEN CAME TO A STOP. LUCKILY, I DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURY BUT I AM NOW DEALING WITH MAJOR PAIN IN MY NECK AND BACK THAT IS GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY. MY COMPLAINT IS DURING THIS WHOLE PROCESS THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BROUGHT TO MECHANIC AND BEEN ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE STRUT IS LEAKING. MECHANIC ALSO TOLD US HE SAW TWO OTHER SIMILAR CASES FOR 2009 CAMRY, AND ADVISE US TO CONTACT TOYOTA. TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY ITEM. OUR MECHANIC STATED FOR SAFETY, FRONT STRUT COIL, SPRING AND MOUNT SHOULD BE REPLACED. I AM SURE TOYOTA KNOW THE CURRENT ISSUE OF THIS DESIGN FAULT; BUT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND RECALLS WILL BE EXPENSIVE TO THEM. WATER PUMP FAILED AT 31000 MILES AND 4 YEARS OLD. CONSUMER REPORTS IDENTIFIED A HIGH INCIDENT OF FAILED WATER PUMPS. THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF POOR QUALITY PARTS, WHICH TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL AND CORRECT. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BACK THEIR PRODUCTS. *TR

The vehicle dashboard is tacky and has been for some time. The reflection from the sun emitting off the dashboard impairs visibility while driving. Even wearing sunglasses does not fully deflect the sun glare from the dashboard making it difficult to see cars in front of me or traffic signals. I believe this issue because the dashboard is so hot, it affected my CD player which is no longer working, a cd is stuck in the player and the button to eject does not respond. Yes my vehicle can be inspected upon request. A few years ago, I inquired with a licensed mechanic what the issue was and he stated there was nothing I could do to remedy the situation. I contacted Toyota when I first realized the issue, they stated that there was a recall on the dashboard and the time had past to get it replaced. I informed them that I did not receive a recall notification and they could not tell me why. I am very frustrated that Toyota will not take responsibility for replacing my dashboard.

THE DASHBOARD IN THE CAR IS MELTING. THE MELTING IS VERY STICKY AND SHINY. THIS CAUSES A GLARE ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH IS VERY BAD IN THE LOUISIANA SUN, ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING INTO THE SUN, WHICH I DO EVERY DAY ON THE WAY TO AND ON THE WAY BACK FROM WORK. THIS GLARE HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO SEVERAL WRECKS BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO SEE. I HAVE VERY SENSITIVE EYES AND I DO WEAR SUNGLASSES, BUT THE GLARE IS STILL VERY BRIGHT. I ATTEMPTED TO WIPE IT OFF AND REALIZED IT WAS STICKY AND IT WAS NEAR THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION TIME. ONE COLD MORING I GOT IN THE CAR AND REALIZED NO NORMAL DASHBOARD SHOULD LOOK LIKE THAT AND PRESSED IT WITH MY FINGERNAIL AND REALIZED IT WAS SOFT. I TAKE MY CAR IN ON FAIRLY REGULAR BASIS TO A TOYOTA DEALER. WHICH IS WHY I BELIEVE THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS SAW THE PATTERN OF CHANGE AND CHOOSE NOT TO DOCUMENT IT OR SAY ANYTHING AS IT MAY INVOLVE A PROBLEM THAT WOULD NOT INVOLVE PROFIT FOR TOYOTA OR THE DEALERSHIP. MY LAST TRIP WAS FOR A DEFECT ON THE VISOR AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE AGENT WHO CHOOSE NOT TO MAKE ANY COMMENT WHICH I NOTED AS ODD ( A TYPICAL ACTION WHEN MANAGEMENT HAS INSTRUCED EMPLOYEES NOT TO COMMENT ON A KNOWN PROBLEM). A MONTH OR SO LATER I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL THAT THEY WOUL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH A COMPLIMENTARY FIX TO THE PROBLEM. THE LETTER I RECEIVED APPEARS TO BE A STALLING TACTIC TO GET CUSTOMERS TO WAIT, NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND OR SEEK REIMBURSEMENT UTILL IT'S TOO LATE FOR REDRESS. ON MY LAST VISIT I INSISTED THEY MAKE NOTE OF THE PROBLEM DUE TO DANGEROUS GLARE BEING REFLECTED OFF THE DASHBOARD ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. I STATED IT WAS A GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE. THE LETTER STATED THEY NEEDED TO ACQUIRE ENOUH PARTS TO FIX THE CARS AND DO NO CONTACT THE DEALER TO WAIT FOR A NOTICE TO BRING YOUR CAR IN. IF I HAD AN ACCIDENT IT WOULD NOT TAKE OVER SIX MONTHS TO ACQUIRE THE PARTS IF I OR THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS PAYING FOR IT. BELIEVE ME IF CEO'S OF TOYOTA OR THERE LOVED ONES WERE DRIVING WITH THIS PROBLEM THEY WOULD IMMEDIATELY FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY PROBABLY HAVE AND KEPT IT OFF THE RECORD.

I HAVE A TOYOTA CAMRY 2009. MY CAR WENT THROUGH THE RECALL SERVICES, TOYOTA HAD FOR THE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS THROUGH ONE OF THEIR DEALERS. HOWEVER, ON 02/08/2013, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHEREIN I FELT THIS PROBLEM MYSELF. ON A BUSY ROAD I MAY HAVE BEEN DRIVING BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES, MY CAR WOULDN'T STOP BUT ACCELERATED TO MAYBE DOUBLE THE SPEED AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT APPEARED AS IF THERE ARE NO BRAKES IN THE CAR.THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE, THAT I AM STILL NERVOUS AND SHAKEN UP WITH THE INCIDENT. THE PERSON DRIVING THE CAR I HIT, THOUGHT I WAS SPEEDING. BUT IT DEFINITELY WAS THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT YET RESOLVED AND COULD LEAD TO MANY MORE ACCIDENTS.
