TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN SECURED IN THE HOUSING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VISOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
THE DASHBOARD CONSTANTLY REFLECTS BACK AND SERIOUSLY BLINDS EYESIGHT & VISION, THAT ACTUALLY MAY CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND DEATH. I AM HUMBLY GIVING THIS "REAL & ACTUAL WARNING INFORMATION" TO HAVE TOYOTA REDESIGN THE DASHBOARD AND RECALL ALL TOYOTAS AND FIX THIS REAL DASHBOARD PROBLEMS. *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2011 AND APPROXIMATELY 6 -9M MONTHS LATER NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $3,000. I THEN CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP AS THERE WAS NOT A RECALL. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED, THE DASHBOARD IS SOFT TO THE TOUCH AND DISINTEGRATES WHEN TOUCHED HAS DEEP GOUGES FROM MY FINGERNAILS TOUCHING IT AND SHOWS SCRAPE MARKS FROM THE DASHBOARD PROTECTOR THAT I USE EVERY DAY. *TR
MY DASHBOARD STARTING GETTING STICKY ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. IT IS GETTING WORSE AND EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT MAKING MARKS ALL OVER THE DASH. IT ALSO MAKES MY CAR HAVE AN UNUSUAL ODOR. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IN GENERAL THE CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT THIS REALLY MAKES IT LOOK AWFUL.. *TR

I BOUGHT MY CAN NEW AND AFTER THREE YEARS, THE DASHBOARD OF MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2009 BEGAN TO MELT AND STICKS OR GLUE TO TOUCH. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE BUT NOTHING WILL WORK. I REALLY WANT MY DASHBOARD REPLACED. *TR
MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HAD A WINDOW SWITCH FAILURE. ON THE MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY, THE SWITCH BUTTON THAT CONTROLS THE PASSENGER'S WINDOWS PARTIALLY MELTED DUE TO AN APPARENT SHORT. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE RESULTED IN A FIRE, HENCE THIS REPORT. PLEASE ADD THIS COMPLAINT IN YOUR CURRENT INVESTIGATION ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND WILL APPRECIATE ANY UPDATES ON THIS INVESTIGATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR UNRELATED SERVICE WHEN THE MECHANIC ADVISED HER THAT THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE STEERING MECHANISM IS MAKING A CLICKING OR RUBBING NOISE UPON TURNING CORNERS. STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP STATES THAT MY ENTIRE STEERING SHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN THAT MUCH AND I FEEL THE STEERING SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM ON SUCH A NEW CAR. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2009 CAMRY BEGAN TO BECOME STICKY AND FORMED A BUBBLING EFFECT THAT REFLECTED TO THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AND SEVERELY IMPAIRED MY VISION. THE SURFACE APPEARED TO BE MELTING AND I COMPLAINED TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. I FINALLY RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD, BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE LABOR OF INSTALLING IT, APPROXIMATELY $500.00. *TR
I OWN A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY FOR OVER 2 YEARS I'VE HAD WHAT IS KNOWN AS A "STICKY DASH". IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE DASHBOARD AS MELTED AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING FOR IT - THEIR RESPONSE IS FOR ME TO PAY ALMOST $1900 FOR A NEW DASHBOARD PLUS LABOR WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT AS OF LATE, THE GLARE DUE TO THE DASHBOARD IS INTERFERING WITH MY DRIVING AND I AM GENUINELY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I AM ANOTHER CAMRY OWNER WHO HAS NOTICED MY DASHBOARD "MELTING". SIMPLY PRESSING MY FINGER ON IT WILL LEAVE AN INDENT, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL NICKS AND SCRATCHES AT THIS POINT. I WORRY THAT IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT, THE STRENGTH OF THE DASHBOARD IS COMPROMISED AND IT WON'T DO IT'S JOB IN HELPING TO PROTECT ME. *TR
DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND STICKY. *TR
THIS CAR HAS OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. IT BURN 1.5 QUARTS EVERY 1000 MILE. THE OIL HAS TO BE CONSTANTLY CHANGED. THE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS CAR, BUT FOR TOYOTA TO FIX THIS ISSUE; THE VEHICLE HAS TO MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENT DEPENDING ON THE YEAR OF THE CAR AND THE MILEAGE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM IN 2017 AND I REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. THE VISOR WOULD FALL AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 56,000.
WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEED, RPM AND TEMPERATURE NEEDLES DROPPED TO ZERO, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE A/C COMPRESSOR STOPPED WORKING WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING @ 55 MPH... THE REST OF THE SYSTEMS WERE WORKING NORMALLY... AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES, THE ABOVE MENTIONED SYSTEMS STARTING WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN WITH NO LINGERING EFFECTS ON THE CAR... BUT AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES IT HAPPENED AGAIN... AND THE PROBLEM STARTED TO HAPPEN IN A CYCLE AS FREQUENTLY AS 5 MINUTES BUT AS LONG AS 30 MINUTES... THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AFTER A WEEK TRYING... ANY IDEAS? IT IS DRIVING US CRAZY! *TR
VEHICLE DASHBOARD APPEARS TO BE MELTING. WHEN THE SUN HITS THE SHINY DASHBOARD, THERE IS A GLARE THAT BOUNCES OFF THE WINDSHIELD, IMPAIRING DRIVER VISIBILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE DIP STICK READING INDICATED A ZERO OIL LEVEL. ONE QUART OF OIL WAS DISPENSED INTO THE ENGINE HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN EXCESSIVE OIL LEAK WHICH REQUIRED OIL TO BE DISPENSED IN THE RESERVOIR EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. UPDATED 1/23/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER FURTHER RESEARCHING THE FAILURE, IT WAS FOUND TO BE AN ENVIORNMENTAL ISSUE. A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE EPA AND CARB. THE CONSUMER HAS REQUESTED FOR THE ORIGINAL REQUEST FOR AN INVESTIGATION TO BE DISREAGRDED. UPDATED 02/11/2013 *JS
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 65 (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) WHEN DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE, FLOPPED DOWN RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE, BLOCKING ROAD FROM MY VIEW. HAD TO HOLD IT UP UNTIL I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. COULD HAVE CRASHED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SAFE SPEEDS, SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER-BRAKE ASSIST. VEHICLE COULD BE STOPPED BUT REQUIRED EXTRA BRAKE PEDAL FORCE AND DISTANCE. "CHECK BRAKES" AND "VSC" WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS OCCURRED A COUPLE OF TIMES SO VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT DETERMINED THAT MOST LIKELY PROBLEM WAS THE HYBRID BRAKE REGENERATING SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE "BRAKE STROKE SENSOR". NOTE THAT OUR CAMRY IS A 2009 MODEL--I RECENTLY READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING IN 2007 AND 2008 MODEL YEARS. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING CAUSING A GLARE FROM THE SUN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,900. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
STARTED VEHICLE IN PARKING LOT. WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED VSC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) PROBLEM, ALONG WITH ABS PROBLEM. PUT VEHICLE IN REVERSE, SLOWLY MOVED BACKWARDS. BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE NORMALLY, ONLY IF THE PEDAL WAS FULLY DEPRESSED. TOOK VEHICLE (SLOWLY) TO A NEARBY TOYOTA DEALER. PART THAT FAILED IS THE STROKE SENSOR, WHICH CONTROLS THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKES. HAD THIS FAILED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS I AM UNSURE THAT I COULD HAVE SAFELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE OR AVOIDED A COLLISION. THIS SENSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE AS ITS FAILURE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS PART (ACCORDING TO THE DEALER) DID NOT FAIL DUE TO ABUSE, NEGLECT OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. *JB
2009 TOYOTA CAMRY WHILE ON THE STATE HIGHWAY I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO 70 MPH, DURING THE EXIT OF THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY HOME I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN IN BACK OF OTHERS CARS, SWITCH THE CAR ON NEUTRAL WHILE LOOKING FOR SOME DOCUMENTS ON MY BRIEFCASE, WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN ONCE AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION WAS SWITCH TO THE DRIVE POSITION AND WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THERE WAS UNCONTROLLED SUDDEN ACCELERATION INCIDENT OF THE CAR, AND THE TIRES START SQUEALING, BRAKE WERE DEPRESSED HARD BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN, IMMEDIATELY WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL ONCE AGAIN, AND TURN OFF, BECAUSE THE CAR ENGINE WAS IN ACCELERATION MODE. LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A BRAND NEW MERCEDES BENZ. I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS SITUATION BEFORE. THE CAR HAD BEEN USED BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS NOT BEEN SET UP. THIS CAR WAS ALREADY MODIFIED WITH THE RECALL OF THE MAT AND ACCELERATOR GAS PEDAL MODIFICATION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE APPROXIMATELY 36,500. WENT TO FIRESTONE TO HAVE OIL CHANGE, BRAKES CHECK AND ROTATION/BALANCE TIRES. TOLD ALL FOR STRUTS HAVE SMALL LEAK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. $1400. CALLED TOYOTA. TOLD THEY ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR STRUTS TO LEAK. TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. AFTER READING OTHER REVIEWS AND HEARING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH NO INTENTIONS OF TOYOTA TO REPLACE STRUTS, I FEEL I WILL BE WASTING HALF A DAY OR MORE TO HAVE TOYOTA LOOK AT IT AND TELL ME ALL IS WELL. I HAVE NOTICED PROBLEM A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT CAR THAT MY SUSPENSION WAS OFF AND THERE WAS A KNOCK AT MY LEFT FRONT TIRE WHEN I GO OVER A BUMP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SERVICE CENTER AND THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE STRUTS TO LEAK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY SE MODEL THAT MY WIFE DRIVES 95% OF THE TIME, I WAS BEING ANNOYED BY THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR DROPING DOWN AND OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW, IT WOULD NOT STAY FULLY UP, IN ASKING MY WIFE ABOUT THIS SHE RESPONDED IT HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR A WHILE BUT IS GETTING WORSE, AND SHE MENTIONED THE PASSENGER SIDE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PULL INTO THE DOWN POSITION AND THEN BACK UP, STOPPED USING IT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT WANT TO BREAK IT. I ORDERED THRU THE DEALER THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR AND WEEKS AFTER I AM TOLD IT IS IN BACK ORDER AND NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. I WONDER IF TOYOTA IS USING THERE AVAILABLE STOCK FOR THOSE CONSUMERS THAT TAKE IT IN FOR DEALER REPAIR/REPLACEMENT AT A COST TO THE CONSUMER, AS I HAVE READ IN SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS. WHAT AM I TO DO ? ANY SUGGESTIONS ? HELP !!!! I DONT WANT TO WAIT FOR A ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN.
THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL STARTED LEAKING, OOZING SOME STICKY GLUEY FLUID THAT GOT REAL WORSE WHEN IT WAS HOT. DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY BECAME VERY HARD SINCE THE DASHBOARD WAS VERY SHINY GLARE REFLECTED ON THE WINDSHIELD AND VISIBILITY WAS VERY LOW. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE & DID SOME GOOGLE RESEARCH. I REALIZED I WAS NOT ALONE. I BROUGHT THIS UP TO TOYOTA ATTENTION BY AN EMAIL. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE DEALER. DEALER BASICALLY SAID THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY NEED MONEY TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS A "DEFECTIVE" MATERIAL USE BY TOYOTA. THEY NEED TO FIX THIS WITHIN A "SAFETY" RECALL. *TR

TOYOTA CAMRY 2009, BOUGHT CAR 2 YEARS AGO. EVERY SUMMER DASH HEATS UP START MELTING AND CAUSE GLARE ON WINDSHIELD NEEDS TO BE FIXED, CAUSE OBSTRUCTIVE VISION AND EXCESSIVE HEAT ALMOST UNBEARABLE. IN SUMMER VERY STICKY TO THE TOUCH NO ACCIDENTS AS OF YET BUT CONCERNED WITH THE OVER HEATING AND CATING FIRE. BF UPDATED 8/17/2015*JS
AT SPEEDS OVER ABOVE 60 MPH THE CAR PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT.THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES BECAUSE THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE FROZE AND DESTROYED THE ROTOR. I HAD A FULL BRAKE INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE OK. ONE WEEK LATER THE FRONT BRAKE LOCKED UP ON THE PASSENGER AND WENT ON FIRE. THE DEALER TELLS ME THE CALIPER FROZE. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THE PADS AND ROTORS ON THE FRONT END. THE IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL CAMRY. I HAVE READ ENDLESS REPORTS OF DIFFICULTY WITH CONTROLLING THIS CAR WHILE BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS IS A BRAKING ISSUE NOT ALIGNMENT. *TR
FRIDAY AT 10 PM, ME AND MY FAMILY WERE COMING FROM VISITING FAMILY.. I LEFT AROUND 10PM I STARTED THE CAR, DROVE LIKE ABOUT HALF A MILE, WHEN I TOLD MY WIFE I SMELL SOMETHING BURNING I OPENED THE WINDOWS THEN I LOOKED AT MY SIDE DOOR (DRIVER) IT WAS ON FIRE, .. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE TO GET MY FAMILY OUT ,....THEN I GOT A BOTTLE OF WATER THAT I HAD ON THE TRUCK...AND USED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR...WHEN I PULLED OVER I HIT ONE OF THE SIGN POLE ON THE STREET ..RIGHT FENDER WAS DAMAGE.. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE INSPECTION REVEALED ALL FOUR STRUTS ARE "MISTING" , NOT CONSIDERED A LEAK, WITH APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COST TO REPLACE THE STRUTS WOULD BE $1671.55. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I AM FEELING THAT I HAVE BEEN TRICKED. THE PROBLEM HAVE BEEN ON MY CAR WHEN THEY SOLD. THE SITUATION IS GETTING WORSE NOW. I REALLY WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR. I HAD CONFIDENCE ON TOYOTA BEFORE. NOW I AM REALLY UPSET WITH TOYOTA. THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
AFTER HAVING CAR SERVICED FOR THE 30,000 MILE SERVICE, I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WASN'T HOLDIN POWER. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO SOUTH BAY TOYOTA, THEY TEST DROVE IT FOUND NOTHING WRONG. STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM, THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE ORIGINAL TOYOTA THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM TO HAVE THEM RECHECK IT, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, THEY SAID THEY TEST DROVE IT ALSO. AS A RESULT THERE WAS NO CHARGE. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO SOUTH BAY TOYOTA BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR WORK. AT SOUTH BAY, THE TECHNICIAN HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTERIZED MONITOR TO CHECK IT; AND THERE WERE NO SIGNALS TO INDICATE A PROBLEM IN THE CAR. I STOPPED AT TONY'S AUTO SHOP ALSO. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG- HE TEST DROVE IT. FINALLY, TODAY, I TOOK IT OVER TO ANOTHER MECHANIC'S SHOP AND I RODE WITH HIM AS HE TEST DROVE IT; HE DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS THE "THROTTLE" AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE IN THE CAR OR DOUBLE CHECK THE THROTTLE: THAT IS WHERE THE PRESSURE IS BEING LOST. WHEN YOU PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE SYSTEM IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE PRESSURE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE HAD NOT STARTED UNTIL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V091000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS: SWITCH). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,800. UPDATED 7/18/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A 20-30 SECOND DELAY WHEN SHIFTING TO SECOND GEAR. IN MAY OF 2012, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER BECAUSE ANOTHER MECHANIC TOLD ME THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME AND NEW TIRES. I TOOK IT TO AVONDALE TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL STRUTS EXPERIENCED SMALL LEAKAGE AND IT WAS NO PROBLEM. I NORMALLY HAVE MY TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED EVERY 6-7,000 MILES AND NOTICED RECENTLY THAT THE INTERIOR TREAD ON THE TIRES WAS WEARING EXCESSIVELY. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPUTABLE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT I HAVE USED FOR YEARS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT AN ALIGNMENT WOULD ONLY BE A TEMPORARY FIX SINCE THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND THE CAUSE OF THE UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRES. I THEN CALLED AVONDALE TOYOTA AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM. SHE SAID NO AFTER TALKING TO A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND I THEN TOLD HER THAT I HAD T-SB-0145-11 IN MY HAND. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND ARRIVED TO TALK TO DEXTER A SERVICE EMPLOYEE AND HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO ABOUT IT SINCE IT WAS OVER THE 36,000 MILES. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY ALL INFORMED ME THAT STRUTS SHOULD NOT LEAK AT THOSE FEW HIGHWAY MILES AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO PUT NEW STRUTS ON THE CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN INIFINITI AND ACURA VEHICLES OVER 130,000 EACH AND NOT REPLACED THE STRUTS. I KNOW TOYOTA IS COMPLETELY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CHOOSES TO IGNORE IT. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL AS IT CAN ENDANGER LIVES BECAUSE OF THE TIRE WEAR PROBLEM. I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND IS BLOCKING VISIBILITY AND UNSAFE IN A CRASH AS IT WILL IMPACT MY FOREHEAD. *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE UNTO THE DRIVEWAY AND THEN INTO THE STREET, IT CAUSED A UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, CAUSING ALMOST A 90 DEGREE SPIN AND I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES FOR IT TO FINALLY STOP. NOW I AM HEARING OF CAR DOOR PANELS CATCHING ON FIRE FOR 2007-2009 CAMRYS...I WILL NOT EVEN DRIVE THIS CAR, IT WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK. AFTER ROUTINE OIL CHANGE ON 2009 CAMRY, I WAS INFORMED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC THAT 3 OF 4 STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS DUE FOR PENNSYLVANIA STATE SAFETY INSPECTION IN AUGUST 2012 AND I WAS INFORMED IT WOULD NOT PASS. I CALLED TOYOTA CARE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. HE SAID THERE WERE NO WARRANTY EXTENSIONS OR FEDERAL RECALLS. THE MECHANIC STATED STRUT FAILURE AT 35,000 MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE. *JS

AIR COMES IN THRU THE BACK, AROUND THE BACK SEATS. THE DEALERSHIP AT TOYOTA IRVINE, IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, CHECKED IT OUT TWICE BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THIS DEALERSHIP DIDN'T WANT TO CHECK IT OUT AGAIN. SO WE'RE STUCK WITH THE AIR COMING IN WHEN GOING ABOVE 60 MPH. *TR
THIS WAS A MULTI CAR PILEUP ON A ROAD WITH 40MPH SPEED LIMIT WHICH RESULTED FROM A VEHICLE AHEAD MAKING AN ABRUPT STOP. THIS RESULTED IN ABOUT 4 CARS BEHIND IT HAVING TO COME TO STOP RESULTING IN A CHAIN REACTION. MY CAR, 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID, COULD NOT COME TO A STOP IN TIME WHEN FULL BREAKING WAS APPLIED AND ENDED UP COLLIDING WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MINE WAS THE LAST VEHICLE IN THE PILEUP. THIS INCIDENT RESULTED IN FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND REAR END DAMAGE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND TO TWO OTHER CARS IN FRONT OF THAT CAR. I AM REASONABLY CERTAIN THAT THE ACCIDENT ON 3-8-2012 WAS THE RESULT OF BREAKS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THAT MY CAR COULD NOT STOP IN TIME TO AVOID A FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE TRAVELING AT A RELATIVELY SLOW SPEED OF 40MPH. *TR
