I PURCHASED MY CAR IN MAY 2011 AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS, I NOTICED THE OIL BURNING FASTER THAN USUAL YET THERE WERE NO LEAKS. THIS WAS MY SECOND CAMRY WHICH MY FIRST I OWNED FOR 12 YEARS (ALSO OWNED A SCION SO 3RD TOYOTA CAR PURCHASED) AND NO ISSUES SO I KNEW THIS WAS NOT NORMAL. I WOULD TAKE MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS AND TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL. FINALLY AFTER YEARS OF HAVING TO GET CONSTANT OIL CHANGES AND PURCHASING EXTRA GALLONS OF OIL TO REFILL EVERY 1K MILES OR LESS, I GOT A LETTER FROM TOYOTA ON MARCH 2016 AND AFTER TAKING IT IN FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, MY CAR FAILED MISERABLY AND IT WAS ADDED TO THE LIST. MY CAR WAS FIXED ON JANUARY 2017 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD GET REIMBURSED FOR THE OIL THAT I HAD TO ADD BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. I SUBMITTED ALL RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION THAT THEY REQUESTED ON MARCH 2017 AND THEY GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND FOR MONTHS. ALTHOUGH EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF PROOF WAS SUBMITTED, THEY WOULD DENY THE REQUESTS. I KEPT CALLING AND SPEAKING TO DIFFERENT REPS, FAXED/EMAILED DOCUMENTS AS WELL AS SENT LETTERS THROUGH CERTIFIED MAIL. FINALLY ON JULY 1, 2017, THEY DECIDED TO ONLY PAY $500 WHEN THE TOTAL OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES SINCE 2012 WAS $1,558.08. THEIR REASONING WAS THAT THEY WERE ONLY PAYING FOR ANY EXTRA OIL USED BETWEEN MARCH 2016 UNTIL JANUARY 2017. THIS IS NOT OK BECAUSE I STARTED HAVING ISSUES IN 2012 AND THE ISSUE WAS FOUND IN 2011 YET THEY DIDN'T NOTIFY ME UNTIL MARCH 2016. THEY SHOULD HAVE HONORED WHAT THEIR ORIGINAL LETTER STATED WHICH WAS BASED ON WHEN MY CAR STARTED HAVING ISSUES. I SUBMITTED PROOF OF RECEIPTS AS WELL AS INVOICES FROM GOODYEAR OF WHEN THIS STARTED. THEY DID NOT HONOR THEIR AGREEMENT AS THEY SHOULD HAVE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND THEY HAVE LOST A LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER.
THE DASH BOARD IS VERY STICKY AND HAS CRACKED AND LOOKS TERRIBLE. OBIVIOUSLY NOT A QUALITY PRODUCT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A BUZZER AND SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH - MASTER WARNING LIGHT, BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, AND THERE WAS A WARNING MESSAGE THAT SAID "CHECK VSC SYSTEM". THEN WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY MY BRAKES, THEY STARTED PUMPING AND I HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT THE FEW BLOCKS TO MY HOUSE AND I CALLED THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY SAID IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE CAR HAD BEEN THERE 8 DAYS PRIOR FOR A NORMAL SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THEY SAID THAT THE STROKE SENSOR HAD GONE OUT AND WHEN I ASKED HOW IT HAPPENED THEY SAID IT JUST MALFUNCTIONED FOR NO REASON. THE COST TO REPLACE WAS $433.14. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING A CAR THAT CAN SUDDENLY MALFUNCTION AND LOSE BRAKING FUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAR HAD RECEIVED ITS REGULAR SERVICE/MAINTENANCE JUST A WEEK BEFORE, SO THERE IS NO REASON THAT THE BRAKES SHOULD HAVE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
MY WIFE WAS T-BONED THIS WEEK AT A 4-WAY STOP (FLASHING RED LIGHT) AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH WHILE DRIVING MY 2009 CAMRY HB WITH SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEVEN AIRBAGS INCLUDING DRIVER FRONT AIR BAG, FRONT SEAT-MOUNTED DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG, AND DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEATBELT. NO BAGS DEPLOYED! IT APPEARS HER HEAD WENT THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. SHE WAS IN ICU WITH CONCUSSION, BLEEDING ON THE BRAIN AND BRAIN SWELLING. DRIVER?S DOOR WAS PUSHED IN ABOUT 6 INCHES FROM THE IMPACT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR THE SAFETY OF THE SEVEN AIRBAGS. ALL MAINTENANCE ON THIS LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE WAS DONE AT THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. *TR
THE DRIVER-SIDE SUN VISOR ON MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY RECENTLY BROKE. LIKE MANY OTHERS HAVE ALREADY REPORTED, THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AND MAKES VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT. IN ORDER TO DRIVE, I HAD TO PHYSICALLY REMOVE THE VISOR TO SEE, BUT NOW I HAVE NO VISOR TO HELP SHIELD THE SUN, WHICH ALSO MAKES VISIBILITY DIFFICULT. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE REPORTED ONLINE BY MANY DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS RANGING FROM 2007-2009 CAMRY MODELS. MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I HOPE TOYOTA CAN ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FLAW AND PROVIDE A FIX. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS WERE LEAKING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STRUTS WERE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE STRUTS WERE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,513.
THIS 2009 CAMRY WHICH IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY IS EQUIPPED WITH TRACTION CONTROL WITH NO SWITCH TO DISABLE IT DURING ICY CONDITIONS. THE CAR IS OPERATED IN COLORADO WHERE SNOW PACKED AND ICY ROADS ARE COMMON. WHEN THESE CONDITIONS EXIST AND THE CAR IS STOPPED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE OR AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT ON AN INCLINE, THE POWER TO THE FRONT WHEELS IS AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN BECAUSE THE WHEELS ARE SPINNING ON THE ICE AND THE TRACTION CONTROL SHUTS THE POWER DOWN TO THEM TO THE POINT THEY WILL NOT TURN. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE UNLESS YOU BACK IT UP AND TAKE A RUN AT THE HILL. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR 2 REASONS: 1. IF THERE IS A CAR BEHIND YOU, YOU CANNOT BACK UP WHICH CREATES A TRAFFIC JAM AND REQUIRES CARS GO AROUND YOU WHICH CAN BE A HAZARD. 2. WHEN YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE A RUN AT THE HILL, YOU CANNOT STOP OTHERWISE THE CAR WILL STALL WHICH MEANS YOU MUST ENTER INTO A STREET WITHOUT STOPPING WHICH IS DANGEROUS AND IN MANY CASES ILLEGAL. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL A SWITCH, AND THAT I SHOULD EXPRESS MY CONCERNS TO THE TOYOTA EXPERIENCE LINE. THIS SITUATION IS A CATASTROPHE WAITING TO HAPPEN AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. ALSO, THE 2012 CAMRY HAS A SWITCH TO DISABLE THE TRACTION CONTROL IN ICY CONDITIONS. IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY THE SWITCH MUST BE RETROFITTED TO OLDER MODELS. *TR
ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR OF THE CAR USING THE REMOTE AND EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR IS DEAD. IT DOES NOT START, NO POWER WINDOWS, CD PLAYER, NOTHING WORKS. I WASN'T ON THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED BUT I CANT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE DRIVING. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED MYSELF IN BUT LUCKILY MY CAR WAS PARKED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS DETERIORATING, HAD A STICKY SUBSTANCE AND WAS MELTING. THE FAILURE WAS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR FAILED TO STAY UP AND CONTINUED TO FLAP DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I HAVE A 2009 CAMRY AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS FAILED. IT HANGS THERE, ONLY WILL STAY IN 2 OR 3 SPECIFIC POSITIONS AND WHEN IT IS "UP" IT DROOPS DOWN IN MY LINE OF SIGHT CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD IN DRIVING (WHICH I DO A LOT OF FOR WORK EVERY DAY). THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND CAUSED BY THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND COST SAVING MEASURES. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR ALL AFFECTED OWNERS ASAP. *JS
DASHBOARD IS COMING APART AND STEERING WHEEL AS WELL TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *JS
I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD STARTING TO MELT IN EARLY 2012. AT FIRST, I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS OR HOW TO FIX IT, AND LATER REALIZED IT WAS MELTING FROM THE HEAT. I CAN'T USE A WINDSHIELD MAT TO BLOCK OUT THE SUN BECAUSE IT STICKS TO THE DASHBOARD AND LEAVES MARKS. THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARD AND IF YOU TOUCH IT, IT CREATES PERMANENT DENTS AND/OR MARKS. IT'S STICKY AND GIVES OFF A BAD SMELL. IT CAUSES A GLARE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. *TR
SINCE LAST YEAR I AM HEARING A CLICKING SOUND, WHILE TURNING STEERING AND A GLITCH WHEN PUSHING BRAKE TO STOP. THIS LOOKS LIKE A SIMILAR ISSUE FOR WHICH PRIUS WERE RECALLED. TOO ME ITS LOOKS LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT BUT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DENIES IF THIS IS CONSIDER TO BE RECALL OR MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
TOYOTA CAMRY WITH 20,000 MILES TIRES HAVE TREAD SEPARATION AND PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT. ALIGNMENT DID NOT HELP. REPAIR SHOP IDENTIFIED THE TIRE PROBLEM. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED ON ITS SIDE AND PROCEEDED TO ROLL SIX TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE REAR SEAT BELTS WERE DESTROYED DURING THE CRASH. THREE PASSENGERS WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED, INCLUDING ONE PASSENGER WHO WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SEAT BELT FAILURE. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND TO DECELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ABS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.

HAVE CONTACTED DEALER AND TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. USA TO NO AVAIL. SPOKE WITH [XXX]. TOYOTA MOTOR CORP., USA CASE NUMBER [XXX]. ENGINE OPERATES WITH EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. CONSUMES/LOSES 1 QUART OF OIL IN 700 MILES AS OF THIS FILING DATE. I WENT TO TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER AT 12/2011 AT 82,700 MILES AND THEY SAID NO PROBLEM - 1 QUART USAGE PER 1000 MILES IS NORMAL. ALSO, DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING AT 45,000 MILES OR SO.
THE AIR-TIRES SYMBOL IS ON ALTHOUGH TOYOTA CHANGED A TIRE($236.00) FOR ME. *TR
ON DECEMBER 4, 2011, WITH MY WIFE AND RETURNING FROM A VISIT TO OUR CHILDREN, I WAS DRIVING OUR 2009 CAMRY EAST FROM BROOKLYN IN THE LEFT LANE ABOUT A MILE ONTO THE JACKIE ROBINSON PARKWAY AT ABOUT 4:30 P.M., VISIBILITY VERY GOOD AND ROAD DRY. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY BUT MOVING ABOUT 35-40 M.P.H. WHEN IT SLOWED A LITTLE IN FRONT OF ME I PUT ON THE BRAKE-- BUT THE CAR SPEEDED UP. I REPEATED THE BRAKING AND THE CAR SPEEDED UP EVEN MORE. THESE TWO ATTEMPTED BRAKING OCCURRED IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS. I SAW WE WOULD CRASH INTO THE CAR AHEAD. I TRIED TO STEER MAINLY INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THAT CAR AND THE ONE IN THE RIGHT LANE SO AS TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE TO THEM, BUT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WENT A LITTLE FASTER. OUR CAR, HAVING HIT THE RIGHT-LANE CAR IN ITS LEFT REAR, WENT PAST THAT CAR AND INTO THE OPENED-UP SPACE AND THE SHOULDER, AND INTO AN ABOUT THREE-PLUS-FOOT CONCRETE RETAINING WALL, HITTING IT AT AN ANGLE WITH THE RIGHT FRONT OF OUR CAR, WHICH MOUNTED THE WALL ON OUR RIGHT-HAND WHEELS AND CAME TO A STOP THERE. AIR BAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED BUT TENSIONED SEATBELTS HIT US HARD IN THE CHESTS. WE MANAGED TO GET MY DOOR OPEN AND GET OUT. THE CAR WAS TOTALED, WITH ABOUT 12,000 MILES ON IT, ALWAYS CAREFULLY MAINTAINED. I WOULD ADD THAT WHEN TOYOTA RECALLED THE CAR IN 2010 I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE ADJUSTMENTS AND WAS INTERESTED TO LEARN FROM THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE ADJUSTMENTS WOULD TAKE AWHILE BECAUSE THEY REQUIRED MODIFICATIONS TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER. ALSO, I AS WELL AS MY WIFE HAVE BEEN DRIVING, EACH OF US FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS, WITH EXEMPLARY RECORDS, AND NEITHER OF US HAS EVER PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WHEN WE MEANT TO STEP ON THE BRAKES. WE ARE WRITING TO YOU IN THE HOPE THAT STILL OTHER TOYOTA CUSTOMERS WILL NOT HAVE TO SUFFER THE UPSET THAT WE STILL FEEL, OR OF COURSE WORSE. (I SENT THIS TO YOU VIA PDF EARLIER TODAY.) *TR
THE DASH ON THE CAMRY BECOMES VERY TACKY AND REFLECTIVE, ESPECIALLY DURING WARMER WEATHER. OBSCURES VISION THROUGH WINDSHIELD DUE TO GLARE AND REFLECTION. ALSO CONCERNED OF ANY TOXIC FUMES WHICH MAY BE RELEASED DUE TO THIS CHEMICAL REACTION IN AN ENCLOSED CABIN OF A VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, HE NOTICED A TICKING NOISE WHILE TURNING THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE BRAKES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 132,000.
ON NOVEMBER 25, 2011, MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE DRIVER OF AN ON COMING VEHICLE TURNED IN FRONT OF MY WIFE'S CAR, RESULTING IN OUR CAR STRIKING THE VEHICLE HEAD ON. MY WIFE'S VEHICLE STRUCK THE VEHICLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON MY WIFE'S VEHICLE. THE POLICE OFFICER ON THE SCENE WAS SURPRISE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIRBAGS OF THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STRUCK DID DEPLOY. THE BODY REPAIR SHOP THAT ACCESSED THE DAMAGED WAS SHOCKED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL LIGHTS ON DASH APPEARED (ABS, TRAC, BRAKE, CHECK ENGINE, MASTER WARNING, CHECK VSC SYSTEM) WITH NO WARNING AND COMPLETE BRAKE LOSS FOLLOWED WITH IT, THEN IT WOULD DISAPPEAR AND BRAKES FUNCTIONED PROPERLY, SEEMS TEMP RELATED AS IT WOULD ONLY HAPPEN ON COLD DAYS, AND WHEN CAR IS COLD EARLY IN THE MORNING, DURING DAY WHEN ENGINE WARM EVERYTHING WORKED FINE, TECH COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR TWICE UNTIL LEFT OVER NIGHT FOUND OUT TO BE FAULTY BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. THIS IS ONLY RELATED TO CAMRY HYBRIDS NOT PRIUS OR OTHER TOYOTA HYBRIDS, MY WHOLE FAMILY DRIVES TOYOTAS HYBRIDS FATHER IN LAW AND 2 BROTHERS HAVE PRIUSES I ALSO HAD PRIUS FOR LONG TIME NEVER HAD ISSUE, NOW ME AND MY WIFE SWITCHED TO CAMRY HYBRIDS AND BOTH CAMRY HYBRIDS EXPERIENCED SAME BRAKE FAILURE WITH FAULTY BRAKE ACTUATOR, NO COINCIDENCE, THERE IS SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT CAMRY HYBRID BRAKE ACTUATOR THAT MAKES IT GO BAD IN VERY DANGEROUS WAY, PROBLEM OCCURS SUDDEN AND DISAPPEARS WITHOUT TRACE FOR TECHNICIAN TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG " EVERYTHING IS FINE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE" IS WHAT THEY SAID, BUT IN MORNING COMMUTE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. I HAVE A 2009 CAMRY. SINCE MY GAS GAUGE WAS CONTINUOUSLY READING EMPTY I TOOK IT TO DEALER. THE DEALER INDICATE THE VEHICLE WAS IN WARRANTY UNTIL MARCH 2012 BUT THAT BECAUSE WATER DROPLET WERE FOUND IN THE TANK THE 'SENDER' HAD BURNED OUT AND WAS NOT SENDING THE CORRECT GAS LEVEL TO THE DASHES GAUGE AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I UNDERSTAND THE SENDER SHOULD HAVE HAD SOME TOLERANCE TO SOME LEVEL OF LIQUID HUMIDITY AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. THIS FAILURE OF SENDER SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THEY INDICATED THAT MANY PUMPS HAD GONE BAD BY WATER BEING DEPOSITED IN TANKS OF THEIR VEHICLES BUT THEY HAD NO HISTORY OF REPLACING SENDERS. THE PUMP WORKS FINE AND THE CAR RUNS GREAT, BUT THE GAUGE IN THE DASH WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM. SHOULD IT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY? *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SUN VISOR FELL DOWN AND IMPAIRED MY SEEING THE ROAD AHEAD. I WENT TO GO FLIP IT UP BUT IT HAD BROKEN SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. I WAS TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WHILE HOLDING UP THE VISOR AND TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC AS TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I FINALLY GOT OFF THE ROAD I HAD TO ACTUALLY RIP THE VISOR OFF BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T GO UP AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT I DID. THE CAR IS BARELY 2 YEARS OLD. NORMALLY I WOULD JUST FIX THIS AND MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE, BUT UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I REALIZED THAT THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS DATING BACK TO THE 2007 CAMRY ON THE SAME VISOR ISSUE. WE WERE LUCKY WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY BUT LET ME TELL YOU, I COULDN'T SEE A THING AND IF THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHEN IT FELL DOWN I WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I HAVE ALWAYS SERVICE THE VEHICLE WHICH IS IN GREAT CONDITIONS AND ALL OF SUDDEN I START NOTICE A CLICKING NOISE IN THE TOYOTA CAMRY STEERING (EXAMPLE BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND TURNS. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A PRODUCT DEFECTIVE FOR CAMRY INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THERE MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS JUST LIKE A RUBBER BAND TYPE THING IN THE STEERING COLUMN STRETCHED OUT AND WOULD NOT EFFECT ANYTHING BUT IF I WANTED IT FIXED IT WOULD BE 400.00. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THEY DO LEAK AND TOYOTA ALLOWS ASCERTAIN AMOUNT TO LEAK AND ARE WITHIN TOYOTA GUIDELINES...YOU WANT TO SEE THIS INFORMATION? THEY GREASED SOMETHING AT THE END OF THE DRIVESHAFT AND SAID IT'S ALL FIXED. I BELIEVED THEM. AT THE SAME TIME I NOTICED THAT THE INTERIOR DASHBOARD WAS LOOSING ITS INTEGRITY, THEREFORE I PURCHASED A STRONGER REFLECTIVE SUN PROTECTIVE VISOR FOR INTERIOR, BUT IT HAS NOT HELPED, DASH IS NOW MELTING. *TR

I HAD A ONLINE APPOINTMENT WITH TOYOTA OF VACAVILLE AT 0:930 AT VACAVILLE CA AND I DROPPED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE READY AT LUNCH. I CAME TO PICK UP AT 13:30 AND IT WAS NOT READY. THEY DID NOT FIX THE URGENT RECALL . TOO BUSY SELLING OIL CHANGES AND TIRE CHANGES. SINCE THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED THEM OUT IN SEPTEMBER 2011 AND INDICATED THAT A SMALL AMOUNT OF LEAK IS NORMAL AND STRUTS NEED NOT BE REPLACED. NOW (NOVEMBER 18, 2012) I HAVE 45,000 MILES ON MY CAR (OUT OF WARRANTY) AND A MECHANIC CHECKED THE STRUTS OUT AND INDICATED THAT ALL FOUR STRUTS ARE LEAKING VERY BADLY AND MUST BE REPLACED. THIS IS PREMATURE FAILURE AND TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE STRUTS ON 2009 CAMRYS WITHOUT CHARGE. *TR
THE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO "MELT" AND BECOME STICKY. IT HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, TO THE POINT IT IS NOW ABOUT AN 80% LIQUID APPEARANCE. THE DASH MATERIAL THAT DOESN'T HAVE THE LIQUID APPEARANCE IS EXTREMELY SOFT AND QUITE EASILY DAMAGED. IT CANNOT BE CLEANED, AS ANY TYPE OF CLEANING CLOTH OR SPONGE IMMEDIATELY STICKS TO THE SURFACE. NO CLEANERS OR PROTECTANTS HAVE EVER BEEN APPLIED. *TR

I DRIVE 2009 CAMRY ITS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO TOYOTA RECOMMENDATION. RECENTLY, STEERING STARTED MAKING CLUNK, KNOCKING SOUND WHICH IS LOUD. TOYOTA DEALER ALSO AGREED THAT SOUND IS VERY LOUD. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE OR NEVER KNOW BREAK THE STEERING. LOOKS LIKE TOYOTA HAS BEEN IGNORING THIS ISSUE AND NOT RECALLING VEHICLES. TODAY , IF YOU PUT YOUR FINGER INTO THE DASH IT WILL CREATE AN INDENTATION AND STAY THAT WAY.I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND A LOT OF TOYOTA OWNERS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS TIME FOR ME TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE AND IM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GET ANOTHER TOYOTA OR GO TO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE.
