The contact stated as she continued to drive, the seat became increasingly warmer. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that she parked and exited the vehicle. The contact stated the seat then cooled down. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and while the vehicle was parked. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that her VIN was not included in the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V396000 (SEATS). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised as the dealer. A case was opened. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000
Dashboard surface has become very shiny which creates a glare and significantly reduced visibility in some circumstances. Dash surface seems to be melting as it is shiny and also sticky when touched. We are the original owners and this vehicle was garaged most of its life, however now when the vehicle has been parked outdoors the dash surface has become shiny resulting in a unsafe reflection in some driving situations.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that no leak was found. The independent mechanic also advised the contact that the failure could be due to the age of the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was associated to an unknown recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
I am the original owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry. The dashboard which started melting in 2020 has caused a shiny film on the dashboard resulting in a shiny glare on my windshield when the sunlight hits the dashboard. This glare completely covers a portion of the windshield which prevents me from viewing the roadway ahead of me. Toyota has entered settlements ( extending its' warranty to Mid 2017 )several lawsuits, but does live up to its' agreement. Toyota has breached settlement agreement by not providing the Toyota Dealers with dashboard replacements in timely manner. Since my dashboard did not start deteriorating until 2020 I have been informed by Toyota that since the warranty time period has expired, that they will not pay for the cost to replace the dashboard. deterioration was a latent defect. Time for NHTSA to get involved: Investigate and then issue a National recall of the dashboards. Email: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Toyota has made empty promises to those who filed prior to Mid 2017 and refuses to even make promises to those who file after that date. Whittier Toyota will be inspecting the vehicle Monday July 19 2021 and will issue me a report of the deteriorating dashboard and cost to replace it. I was diving my car on a 200 mile trip and I noticed that the driver side Sun Visor fell down and wouldn't stay up even when it was in its stowed position. During the day it progressive got worst. I now have to physically hold it in place so I can see while driving. I first thought my kid broke it, but that wasn't the case. Since I'm an engineer, I usually repair my car on my own. So I went looking on the internet for a replacement part and that is when I stumbled on the recall. My failure seemed to follow the same failure mode called out in the recall. However, my Visor didn't fail during the recall window. However, in my engineering opinion, this is a part the will fail at some point in the cars life and the manufacture should have done a recall and replace on every car manufactured during the years that used the same parts. Toyota no longer recognizes this as a problem. The more that the visor is used the more likely this failure will occur. Bottom line, it is a safety hazard that had a band aide approach to repairing it and should be revisited since more then likely it will occur on any vehicle that didn't experience the failure during the recall window.
While driving into the sun, the sun reflects off the dash causing you to not be able to see out the windshield. The dash has a tacky feel to it and is extremely shiny and any light that comes in trough the windshield reflect back at the windshield causing you to not be able to see what is in front of you. No warning of this issue with the vehicle. I have tried cleaning the dash with special cleaners to remove the shimmer however no resolution. The only resolution I have heard of is to have the dash completely replaced with the aftermarket dash that is made out of a different component.

I’m having to top off and refill my oil every 2 weeks.
WHILE DRIVING, ON BRAKING, THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A GRINDING/RUBBING NOISE APPEARING TO COME FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE SEEMED AS IF THE VEHICLE ENGINE/MOTOR WAS GOING TO SEIZE UP OR SOMETHING WOULD BREAK INSIDE. SLOWLY TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TIRE KINGDOM REPAIR SHOP WHO WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ONCE THEY STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WERE ALARMED BY THE ENGINE NOISE. ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO AN ENGINE REPAIR SHOP. SLOWLY, CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME AND PARKED. ON STARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, NEXT DAY, THE ENGINE SEEMS TO RUN FINE ON PARKED AND NEUTRAL. ON SHIFTING TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE RUBBING/GRINDING NOISE BEGINS AGAIN. HAVE BEEN RESTRAINED TO SITTING AT HOME INSTEAD OF DOING MY RIDE SHARING AND DELIVERY WORK. RECENTLY HAD THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAM SHAFT GEAR REPLACED.

09 TOYOTA CAMRY IS BURNING OIL. AT STARTUP SMOKE COMES OUT OF EXHAUST. I HAVE TO ADD ABOUT A QUARTER OF OIL ONCE A MONTH. I'VE NOTICED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM 07-10 MODEL CAMRY. I NEED TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. PLEASE ADVISE ME OF SOLUTION
MY DASHBOARD IS COMPLETELY STICKY AND IS CAUSING A SEVERE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THERFORE MAKING IT DANGEROUSLY TO DRIVE. THIS HAS TO BE LOOKED INTO ASAP! I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE CLEANERS AND NOTHING WORKS! #RECALL TOYOTA!I
THE DASHBOARD IN OUR 2009 CAMRY HAS GOTTEN EXTREMELY STICKY. I WAS CLEANING THE CAR YESTERDAY SINCE WE ARE SHORTLY PASSING THE CAR ONTO OUR SON. WHEN I WENT TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARD, I NOTICED THE STICKINESS, WORSE IN A COUPLE OF SPOTS. WE DID RECEIVE THE 2015 LETTER FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE DASHBOARD ISSUE BUT AS STATED IN THE LETTER IN BOLD, RED PRINT 'IF YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE CONDITION DESCRIBED, THERE IS NO ACTION NECESSARY AT THIS TIME.' WE HAD NO DASHBOARD PROBLEM AT THE TIME SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO CONTACT TOYOTA. NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM! THE GLARE AND ODOR FROM THIS ISSUE IS NOW A SAFETY AND HEALTH ISSUE. ANOTHER CONCERN IS HOW THIS DASHBOARD ISSUE AFFECTS THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND THE AIRBAG UNDERNEATH. TOYOTA SHOULD ADDRESS AND REPAIR THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT CARE IF A VEHICLE IS 5 DAYS OLD, 5 YEARS OLD, OR 50 YEARS OLD, A STICKY, MELTING DASHBOARD SHOULD NEVER BE A PROBLEM. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM!
AT 146,137 MILES THE ENGINE HAS SUDDENLY BEGUN TO CONSUME OIL, HAVING LOST IN EXCESS OF 3 QUARTS IN LESS THAN 5,000 MILES WITH NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKS (STAINING, DRIPS) OBSERVED WHERE CAR IS PARKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,500.
Airbag on drivers side and passenger side is not working properly. Airbag warning lights are always on. Has also caused horn not to work as well. I can’t afford to get this checked out but I did receive a notice of recall about Acura airbags with similarities of what is going on with my Toyota.
THIS CAR BURNS ABOUT TWO QUARTS OF MOTOR OIL IN JUST ONE WEEK. SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS CAR SEVERAL YEARS AGO IT'S BEEN BURNING OIL MORE THAN IT SHOULD. THERE AREN'T ANY LEAKS. IT'S JUST BURNS IT.

VSC WARNING APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. ABS WARNING LIGHT AND PS LIGHT IS ON TOO. I HAD THE ABS ACTUATOR REPLACED IN FEBRUARY 2019 WHEN THE VSC WARNING FIRST APPEARED. I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE PLUS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE STORE, WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR AND TURNED CAR ON, THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND WILL NOT TURN OFF.
DASHBOARD BECAME STICKY AND MELTED INTO A GLOB WHICH HINDERS MY ABILITY TO SEE AND I CALLED IN 2017 TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND WAS TOLD I WAS A MONTH TOO LATE WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. IT'S PROGRESSED EVEN MORE IN THE PAST THREE YEARS TO THE POINT I HAD TO PUT SOMETHING ON IT TO MAKE THE GLARE GO AWAY. IT LOOKS SO TACKY AND I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD FIX IT.
BURNING 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN 3000 MILE OIL CHANGES

MAINTENANCE LIGHT WAS ON, CAR WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING EVEN AFTER DEALERSHIP CHECKED IT OUT, TIRES WERE WORN OUT, ALSO CAR MADE NOISES ON FRONT RIGHT PASSENGE SIDE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND SOME TIME SHAKED FROM RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE.
WHEN DRIVING OUTSIDE ESPECIALLY DAY TIME AND WHEN HOT AND HUMID, THE CAR'S DASH BECOMES STICKY AND SOFT. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM AND THE LIVED IN CA, I DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM. NEITHER I RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA DEALERSHIP OR NONE IN THE SERVICE CENTER CHECKED WITH ON THIS ISSUE OR TOLD ME THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AND HENCE NEED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY DID WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ISSUE AND POWER WINDOW SWITCH MALFUNCTION. NOW I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS DASH STICKINESS ISSUE AND TOYOTA IN HAWAII IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AND SUBSTANDARD PRODUCT THAT THEY HAS PUT IN AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE AS THEY HAVE DONE FOR MILLIONS OF OTHER CUSTOMERS. THE REASON DOE REFUSAL IS THAT MY CAR JUST PASSED 10 YEARS SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT. BUT HAD I BEEN KNOWN OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE EVEN EXPERIENCING IT, I WOULD HAVE GOT IT REPLACED. I HAD BEEN TAKING MY VEHICLE REGULARLY TO TOYOTA SERVICE, BUT NONE BOTHERED TO CHECK ON THIS. SINCE IT IS NOT MY ISSUE AND IT IS BECASUE OF THEY USING A DEFECTIVE PART, THEY SHOULD HELP ME IN REPLACING IT COMPLETELY AT THEIR EXPENDITURE. I AM WITH MY FAMILY AND I AM VERY MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY AND RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE AS IT COULD EMIT CHEMICALS BECAUSE OF MELTING OR CHANCES OF FIRE ACCIDENT. MY CAR KEEPS HAVING PROBLEMS. TOYOTA HAS REBUILT THE ENGINE IN JANUARY 2018. SINCE THEN, I'VE HAD A NEW ALTERNATOR THREE TIMES. THE LAST TIME WAS MARCH 2020. A NEW RADIATOR 2019, NEW SPARK PLUGS MARCH 2020, NEW FUEL PUMP APRIL 2020. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND PASSENGER REAR WINDOW WILL NOT COME DOWN. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR, JULY 29, 2020. YESTERDAY, JULY 24, 2020, MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND CUT OFF. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON (ENGINE, OIL OR BATTERY). IN THE PROCESS, THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED FOR SERVICE. TOW TRUCK DRIVER GAVE ME A HOTSHOT AT MY REQUEST SO, I COULD ROLL THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS UP. MY CAR NEEDED A HOTSHOT TO DRIVE OFF OF THE TOW TRUCK TO PARK. TODAY, JULY 25,2020, ROADSIDE ASSISTANCES WAS CALLED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO JERRY'S TOYOTA BELAIR RD., BALTIMORE, MD. I WAS ADVISED THAT I NEED ANOTHER ALTERNATOR, AGAIN. THIS JUST MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD ALTERNATOR IN ABOUT TWO YEARS. FURTHER, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE MECHANIC 'THINKS' THAT THE MASTER SWITCH FOR THE WINDOWS NEED TO BE REPLACED. FOR SOME REASON, THE ALTERNATOR IS NOT LASTING IN MY CAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A LETTER WAS SENT OUT TO THE CONTACT IN 2010. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE LETTER WAS NOT A RECALL AND THAT THE NOTICE HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,300.

THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE OF $1,000 FOR THE VEHICLE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY HAS 128K MILES. WHEN IT SITS OVERNIGHT IT WILL SMOKE AT START UP. IT SOUNDS CONSISTENT WITH EITHER AN ISSUE WITH THE RINGS IN THE ENGINE OR THE VALVE SEALS. AFTER IT RUNS THE SMOKE STOPS. WHEN THE CAR SITS AGAIN, IT WILL SMOKE AT START UP AGAIN.. IT APPEARS THAT OIL SEEMING PAST THE RINGS OR PAST THE VALVE SEALS AND BURNING OFF IN THE CYLINDER. *TR

WAS DRIVING NORMALLY A MONTH OR SO AGO AND NOTICED BRAKE LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON DURING MEDIUM-TO-HARD BRAKING. WENT TO FIRESTONE TO CHECK BRAKES OUT AND WAS TOLD ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW AND THEY POURED 3 QTS IN. WAS TOLD TO GET IT CHECKED BY SOMEONE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN ENGINES. GOT IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THE 2007-2010 MODEL YEAR CAMRY HAD THAT PROBLEM. WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE I KNOW (ALSO OWNS 2009 OR 2010 CAMRY) THAT HE HAD THE CAR FIXED DURING A RECALL.CHECKED MY VIN AND THERE IS NO RECALL CURRENTLY. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2013 WITH ABOUT 30K MILES AND AM CURRENTLY ABOVE 70K WITH THIS PROBLEM. SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT IT IS NOT UNCOMMON. *TR

CAR HAS ABOUT 161,000 MILES, AFTER AROUND 150,000 MILES THE ENGINE CONSUMES ALMOST ALL OIL IN A WEEK OR TWO. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CHANGE OIL ALL THE TIME. NO OIL LEAKS ANYWHERE.

WHILE DRIVING DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS, THE SUN WAS REFLECTING OFF THE DASHBOARD EXTREMELY BRIGHT, CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY DAUGHTER. THE DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SEEMS TO STAY THAT WAY. I HAVE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE AS WELL. I BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS BUT THE DATE TO REPAIR HAS EXPIRED? IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

TL* THE CONSUMER OWNED A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING AT AN UNKNOWN HIGH RATE OF SPEED, A VEHICLE BEHIND HIM WAS TRACKING HIM AT A CLOSE PROXIMITY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO AVOID THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER RAN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY; THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE CONSUMER DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE BUT SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL. THE CONSUMER WAS TREATED FOR A HEADACHE, NECK PAIN, CHEST PAIN, UPPER BACK PAIN, AND BLURRED VISION. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AT THE SCENE AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SO I NOTICED THAT MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID STEERING IS REQUIRING EXTRA POWER TO TURN THE STEERING. IT'S VERY STIFF AND I COULD HARDLY BE ABLE TO MAKE BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TURNING.
I bought my car in October 2009. I did not discover until years later that the pistons for the 2009 Toyota Camry Le did not fit correctly. This caused oil consumption problems, but it did not start happening until a 3-year warranty and at about 60-70 thousand miles. I did not get a notice of recall notice of Toyota's resolution to the problem, because they had the wrong apartment number and email address which I was told by Rep. Sherry and Rose at Toyota Corporation. Rep. said she was sending information to higher up at the corporation instead she sending it to the dealership. I did not get notice of a class action suit/resolution, trotter body, or melting dashboard. I have paid at least $6-7 thousand to dealerships workmanship is bad. I need help!! Because I did not get notices Toyota should fix and compensate me for repairs. Also, they replaced my hold break system because they assumed the shrieking noise was the break. This was done without my permission. I had to replace the axle they replaced less than a year ago. I am frustrated. I can not pay out any more money. My car stopped working on [XXX] I had to have it told to the dealership in Mamaroneck. Rep Sherry told me the trotter body is on recall until 2026, dealership is saying no.
