PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM DRIVE TIME 10/2016. LAST TWO YEARS OIL CONSUMPTION IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES HAS REACHED PUTTING 4 TO 10 QUARTS OF OIL IN THIS CAR. RECENTLY HAD GASKETS, RADIATOR, COIL AND SPARKS CHANGED (10/2019). I NOW AS OF THIS DAY (12/21/2019) HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM (ENGINE FAILURE). GASKETS HAS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND THE VSC CAME ON. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO EVERY ONE INCLUDING WHERE I BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM. IT APPEARS I HAVE NO RIGHTS REGARDING TOYOTA AND DRIVE TIME AND THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES. I KNOW THIS CANNOT BE THE CASE. WHO IS HOLDING THESE ENTITIES ACCOUNTABLE?. THIS CAR HAS STOPPED AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. I HAVE PUT MORE MONEY IN THIS CAR REGARDING THIS ENGINE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT TO GET THIS CORRECTED. THIS IS A DEFECT ON TOYOTA'S PART AND DRIVE TIME FOR THE SALE OF THIS CAR UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS WHICH I KNOW I HAVE. DOING RESEARCH THERE WAS NO RECALL. WHY NOT. I WILL BE FILING COMPLAINT WITH THE STATE ATTORNEY ALSO. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE ON MY 2009 CAMRY MADE ME ALMOST CRASH WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. BASICALLY I HAD MULTIPLE MISFIRES AND LOST THE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY RISKING THE CAR BEHIND ME CRASHING INTO ME. I HAVE THE 2.4L ENGINE. THIS ENGINE IS NOTORIOUS FOR BURNING OIL DUE TO FAULTY PISTONS, AND EVEN THOUGH A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD THIS PROBLEM, TOYOTA NEVER ISSUED A RECALL. MY ENGINE BURNS A LOT OF OIL TOO NOT ONLY RISKING MY LIFE BY HAVING MULTIPLE MISFIRES, BUT IT ALSO RUINS MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND NOT TO MENTION THE COST OF OIL THAT I USE TO CONSTANTLY TOP IT OF.
IN OUR 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY, THERE WAS A TEMPORARY DASH REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. IT WAS CONSIDERED A WARRANTY EXTENSION AS OPPOSED TO A RECALL AND IT WAS A LIMITED TIME WHERE OWNERS COULD TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT REPAIRED DURING THAT LIMITED TIME SPA. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THIS PAST YEAR AND UPON PURCHASING AND SPENDING A SUMMER IN SAN ANTONIO WITH MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY I EXPERIENCED WHAT THE DASH RECALL/TOYOTA REPLACEMENT POLICY WAS INTENDED TO REPAIR. THE DASH TURNS TO MUSH IN THE HEAT AND IT IS VERY, ALMOST MALLEABLE. FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT, IT CREATES A GLARE THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE FROM THE DRIVERS POINT OF VIEW AND FURTHERMORE THERE'S BEEN REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING BECAUSE OF THE MELTING DASH. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA ABOUT POSSIBLY HELPING ME REPAIR MY DASH AND THEY SAID THAT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE MANUFACTURES DAMAGES. I WANTED TO FILE A CLAIM FOR RECONSIDERATION IN HOPES THAT THEY WOULD BE LIABLE FOR REPLACING ANYTHING THAT COULD POTENTIAL HE BE A HAZARD OR A DANGER TO MY FAMILY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND SHIFTING INTO THE DRIVE GEAR, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND SURGED FORWARD. AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOPPING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER DRIVE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
The ABS light came on, the actuator pump makes loud noises and brakes don’t function correctly. Faulty braking system that causes the brakes to lock up. Been doing off and on for a few years. Toyota issues a service announcement but don’t see a recall.
I CHECK THE OIL WEEKLY IN THE VEHICLE DESPITE IT BEING DRIVEN SPORADICALLY. THE OIL BURNS OFF QUICKLY AND I HAVE TO REPLACE FREQUENTLY. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME.
ACCELERATOR GETS STUCK OPEN. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. IT WOULD REV AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. I TRIED DOWNSHIFTING WITH NO EFFECT. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO VERY HIGH RPMS, EVEN WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THEN IT FINALLY STALLED OUT.
2009 TOYOTA CAMRY IS BURNING OIL. TOYOTA DID NOT DO A RECALL OR CONTACT THE OWNER THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. I AM OVER MY "YEARS' BUT WITHIN THE MILEAGE. THEY WILL NOT PLACE/REBUILD THE MOTOR.
WHILE DRIVING, MY BRAKES HAVE GONE OUT (AS IN I HAVE NO BRAKES) SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. AT THE SAME TIME MY (ABS, CHECK VSC SYSTEM) LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND MY BRAKE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ILLUMINATED. I VERY CAREFULLY DROVE IT HOME AND WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT TO FIX.

THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER AUTONATION TOYOTA HAYWARD LOCATED AT 24773 MISSION BLVD, HAYWARD, CA 94544, (510) 224-4854 AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE DASHBOARD REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,652.

THE CONTACT CALLED PRINCIPLE TOYOTA (7370 WINCHESTER RD, MEMPHIS, TN 38125, (877) 217-4003) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1911120733. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
DASHBOARD IS STCIKY AND SHINES THR REFLEXION OF THE SUN WHILE DRIVING, AT THE POINT WHERE IT BECOMES HARD TO SEE
APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO, MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAD BROKEN OFF AS MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO THE CAR. THAN THE DOOR HANDLE BEHIND THAT CAME OFF WHEN MY CHILD WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET INTO THE CAR ABOUT A MONTH LATER. FOLLOWING BOTH THOSE INCIDENTS I WAS UNLOADING GROCERIES AND WENT TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT HANDLE JUST CAME OFF. THE ONLY HANDLE REMAINING ON THE CAR IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THERE WAS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. NO ONE PULLED ON THE HANDLES HARDER TO OPEN THE DOORS. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN! I HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN TOYOTAS FOR OVER 20 YEARS, AS WELL AS SEVERAL MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY AND THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED! I DO NOT USE MY CAR FOR ANYTHING LIKE UBER OR LYFT WERE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN USED MORE FREQUENTLY THAN NORMAL AND I FEEL THIS HAS TO BE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT FOR IT TO HAPPEN TO 3 DOOR HANDLES! I AM ALSO CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY ISSUES THIS COULD CAUSE MY FAMILY, ESPECIALLY MY CHILD. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN LOYOL TOYOTA CUSTOMERS FOR MANY MANY YEARS AND I AM JUST BESIDE MYSELF THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN!
THE GLARE FROM THE STICKY DASHBOARD IS MAKING THE VEHICLE MORE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE
RECENTLY 'AUGUST 2019' I PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY ON A 'CLOUDY DAY' FOR MY SON TO DRIVE TO N.C. FOR COLLEGE. HE CAME HOME FOR AN OVERNIGHT VISIT AND I NOTICED HIS DASH WAS VERY SHINY AND HAD A HORRIBLE GLARE. THE GLARE WAS SO BAD I WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THIS IMPAIRING HIS ABILITY TO SEE. I NOTICED ON TOYOTA'S WEBSITE THERE IS A RECALL ON THE DASH BUT READ LOTS OF COMPLAINTS THAT TOYOTA WAS NOT REPLACING THEM IN A TIMELY FASHION AND FOR ONLY SO MANY YEARS. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PHOTO THIS IS FOR SURE A VISIBILITY HAZARD AND MY SON OR OTHERS COULD BE KILLED DUE TO INABILITY TO SEE.
FRONT END WAS TOTALED, FRAME EXPOSED, AREA SURROUNDING AIRBAG TRIGGER OBVIOUSLY SMASHED AND EXPOSED, YET NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT! THIS VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE (STATIONARY) WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH. MY DAUGHTERS HEAD BROKE THE WINDSHIELD. AN APPROPRIATE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFE CAR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND SAVE OTHERS.
THE CAR SEEMS TO RUN FINE BUT WITH SOME DASH BOARD LIGHTS WENT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID I HAVE TO REPLACE ABS ACTUATOR ASSY.. I SAW EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THAT BUT NO SAFETY RECALLS. IF ISSUES ARE EXPECTED WITH PARTS, SHOULD NOT THERE BE SAFETY RECALLS INSTEAD OF EXTENDING WARRANTIES ONLY. WHY IS TOYOTA SAYING THERE MIGHT BE PARTS THAT MIGHT NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY BUT WILL BE FIXED ONLY THE PARTS FALL BY CERTAIN TIME. I AM WORRIED TO DRIVE WITH DASH BOARD LIGHTS OF BRAKES, ABS AND CHECK BACK SYSTEM LIGHT ON. TO FIX IT, I WILL HAVE TO SPEND $1600 FOR THE PART THAT SHOULD HAVE THE PART OF SAFETY RECALL.
MY DASH IS MELTING. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL. IT'S CHIPPING OFF AND I WAS TOLD THE RECALL EXPIRED. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET IT FIXED IF NEVER A RECALL. ALSO MY ENGINE HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL AND I'VE HAD IT SERVICED PROPERLY AND IN A TIMELY FASHION THE ENTIRE TIME I'VE HAD IT. IT'S THE SEALS THAT KEEP LEAKING. IVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL INFORMATION ON MY TOYOTA. EVER. SO I'M NOT VERY SATISFIED WITH THE NOTIFICATION PROCESS. IM ATTACHING PICTURES OF MY DASH.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND I DIDN'T REALIZE THE DASH WAS DAMAGED, IT JUST LOOKED SHINY BUT UPON MY CLEANING IT THE FIRST TIME MY CLEANING CLOTH STUCK TO IT THIS IS WHEN I REALIZED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE CAR LOT WASN'T RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE IT WAS AN AS-IS SALE. THIS HAS GOTTEN WORSE TO THE POINT THAT I CAN BARELY SEE TO DRIVE WHEN THE SUN HITS THE DASH IT CAUSES A TERRIBLE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE TO TRY AND LOOK OVER IT AND TO THE SIDE OF IT AND IT'S NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY. YESTERDAY WAS REALLY A CLOSE CALL AND THAT IS THE REASON THAT I'M TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM NOW, I'VE FOUND THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY AN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE AND NOT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD PUT SOMETHING ON IT'S I HAD THOUGHT. I'M SENDING A PICTURE ALONG WITH THIS. THE ENTIRE DASH IS LIKE THIS BUT THE DRIVERS SIDE IS THE WORST.
FRONT OF DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY, SPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS HOT OUTSIDE. IF I PLACE MY FINGER ON DASHBOARD SOME OF THE RUBBER COMES OFF OR EVEN LEAVES FINGER PRINTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO BUTLER TOYOTA OF MACON (4580 RIVERSIDE DR, MACON, GA 31210, (478) 345-8512), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MECHANICS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
THE DESK IS GETTING WORST STICKY AND THAT REFLECT TO WINDSHIELD HARD TO SEE SOMETIMES..AND CONSUMING LOTS OF ENGINE OIL..BOTH THEY ISSUED EXTENTED WARRANTY BUT I NEVER GOT ANY MAIL FROM TOYOTA THEY SAYS THEY SEND ME ON OLDER ADRESS..BUT I AM LIVING THIS ADRESS SINCE 2012 AND THE SAME ADRESS ON MY DRIVING LISENCE SINCE 2012.NOW WHEN IT CAME IN MY KNOWLEDGE THESE PROBLEM I CONTACT TOYOTA BUT THEY SAYS I JUST PASSED 10 YEARS AND THEY CANT DO ANYTHING.NOW I AM STUCK WITH THIS OIL CONSUMPTION ITS RUNNING OUT WHOLE ENGINE OIL LEVEL ON EVERY 2000 MILE...NO OIL IN IT.SO PLS HELP US. THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY MELTS IN THE HEAT, AND BECOMES VERY STICKY. IF TOUCHED, IT ALSO BURNS THE HAND. IN ADDITION, THE GLARE FROM THE STICKY DASH REFLECTS IN THE WINDSHIELD AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AND DRIVE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING, SINCE IT IS MELTING IT IS CAUSING THE DASHBOARD TO BE REALLY SHINEY, WHICH IS CAUSING A HUGE REFLECTION ON MY WINDSHIELD, WHICH IS MAKING IT HARD TO SEE OUT. THE DASHBOARD IS ALSO REALLY STICKY FROM MELTING, AND IM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS BECAUSE OF THIS.
I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED AT A LOCAL OIL CHANGE PLACE IN JULY 2019. THEY NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL VERY RAPIDLY WHICH WASN'T NORMAL. LUCKILY FOR ME, THERE WAS A FORMER TOYOTA SERVICE TECHNICIAN WORKING THERE WHO RECALLED AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE IMPACTING SOME TOYOTA BRANDS. THEY DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND SOME INFORMATION ONLINE REGARDING A POTENTIAL RECALL OF THE IMPACTED VEHICLES. I WASN'T AWARE OF ANY TYPE OF ISSUE WITH MY CAR'S ENGINE OR A RECALL IN WHICH I COULD HAVE IT REMEDIED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS HEARING OF THE ISSUE. I TOOK THAT INFORMATION TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND AFTER REVIEWING IT, THEY SAID "WE'RE SORRY SIR, BUT YOUR VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO WE'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING." THEY CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THE RESPONSE WAS THE SAME. I CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THE RESPONSE WAS THE SAME AS WELL. I'M REALLY ANNOYED THAT TOYOTA NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH THEIR ENGINE'S CONSUMPTION OF OIL AND DIDN'T INFORM ME. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND HE SAID "YOUR CAR BASICALLY HAS STAGE 4 CANCER... THIS ISSUE WILL PERSIST AND EVENTUALLY YOUR CAR WILL DIE." THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT HE SAID. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A PAID-OFF TOYOTA THAT WILL EVENTUALLY DIE AS A RESULT OF TOYOTA'S NEGLIGENCE AND FAILURE TO INFORM ME OF AN ISSUE. THERE ONLY OPTION WAS TO SELL MY CAR WHICH JUST SEEMS VERY TELLING OF THE SITUATION AS A WHOLE. I WORK IN METRO ATLANTA SO AT ANY GIVEN TIME, MY CAR COULD JUST DIE WHILE I'M DOING 65MPH. AND TOYOTA COULD CARE LESS. THEY'RE HOPING TO WASH THEIR HANDS OF THE MATTER WHEN THEY SHOULD REALLY BE EMPLOYING COMMON SENSE PRACTICES. IF THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF RECALL OR ISSUE WITH MY CAR'S ENGINE AND I WAS AWARE, DO THEY REALLY THINK I WOULD HAVE TWIDDLED MY THUMBS AND DONE NOTHING? I SIMPLY WANT MY CAR FIXED ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS NEVER AWARE OF ANY ISSUE.
SAFETY SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP)COBB PARKWAY, MARIETTA, GA) SAID THERE ARE NOT ANY RECALLS ON THE YEAR OF MY CAMRY. SAFETY SYSTEM LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AND I AM AFRAID IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, I WILL NOT HAVE AIR BAG PROTECTION.
RE: TSB-L-SB-0144-11 STICKY/MELTING DASHBOARD THE CAR IS 6 MONTHS BEYOND THE DATE OF THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PERIOD. SINCE THE CONDITION OF SHINY STICKINESS OF THE DASHBOARD DID NOT COME TO MY ATTENTION UNTIL AFTER THE ENHANCEMENT PERIOD, I BELIEVE THAT I AM NEVERTHELESS ENTITLED TO THE REPAIR OF THE DASHBOARD BY TOYOTA AND THAT COVERAGE SHOULD BE ALSO EXTENDED TO THE REPLACEMENT OF CERTAIN ANCILLARY PARTS RELATED TO THE REPLACEMENT THAT MIGHT BE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE WARRANTY REPAIR. THERE IS NO VALID REASON THAT THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT SHOULD HAVE EXPIRED AS THIS CONDITION IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF AN ARBITRARY PERIOD SET BY TOYOTA. *JS
MELTING DASHBOARD AND DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP. THE MELTING DASH CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING VISIBILITY TO BE OBSTUCTED. I WAS TOLD THAT I MISSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN SENT ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CAUSES A CONSTANT GLARE THAT OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TOLD TOYOTA ABOUT THIS THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE NEVER BEEN CONTACTED BY TOYOTA REGARDING THIS IS A POSSIBILITY OF HAPPENING. SUNSHADES DID NOT PREVENT THE MELTING AS IT GETS WORSE YEARLY AND I USE SHADES DAILY. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING BECAUSE THIS PUTS MY LIFE AS WELL AS OTHERS IN DANGER DUE TO THE MAJOR GLARE.
THE DASHBOARD OF THE CAR IS MELTING AND IS VERY SHINY AND STICKY. WHEN THE SUN OR HEADLIGHTS HIT THE WINDSHIELD IT IS BLINDING AND I CAN'T SEE. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN IT WITH HOT SOAPY WATER, AS I WAS INSTRUCTED, BUT IT WILL NOT COME OFF.

IS LIKE SUPER GLUE, AFRAID WILL BURN.CAR GARAGED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT, THE RECALL EXPIRED.*JS
DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE TO THE POINT IT WON'T STAY IN UP POSITION OR FULLY TOWARD THE WINDSHIELD EITHER. IT IS REALLY A VISIBILITY ISSUE BUT DIDN'T SEEM TO MEET THAT CRITERIA. I AM SURE THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL FOR THIS SOME YEARS BACK, BUT IT IS NOT LISTED ON THE NHTSA OR TOYOTA WEBSITES.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 188,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING IN ENGINE . ALSO CAUSING BLUE SMOKE TO COME FROM EXHAUST WHEN TURNING ON CAR IN THE MORNING
DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT, CRACK, CHIP AND BECOME GOOEY. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND ON THE PHONE WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE 2 TIMES, AND THEY BOTH KEEP REDIRECTING ME TO EACH OTHER. I HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERNS ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIRBAGS SINCE THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND IS REFUSING TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY. APPARENTLY, THERE WAS A RECALL THAT HAS SINCE EXPIRED, HOWEVER I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. THIS CAUSES GREAT CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT THAT TOYOTA IS NOT ADDRESSING WITH EASE OR HONESTY. A MELTING DASHBOARD IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN THAT COULD HAVE GRAVE CONSEQUENCES.
THE VEHICLE'S CLUSTER WOULD START GOING HAYWIRE - WITH THE SPEEDOMETER GOING TO ZERO, THE RPM FLUCTUATING, AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE READING COLD, AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND IN MOTION. THE A/C WOULD GO OUT AS WELL, AND THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS WOULD COME ON. THE CAR WOULD STILL RUN BUT THE CLUSTER WOULD FLICKER AS DESCRIBED. AFTER FLICKERING FOR A WHILE, IT WOULD RESUME AS NORMAL AND THEN HAPPEN AGAIN AS I CONTINUED DRIVING. I HAD MY CAMRY INSPECTED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A MALFUNCTIONING ABS ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. I HAD ANOTHER ABS ACTUATOR PUT IN, AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE CAR DUE TO THE FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM. IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE ABS WAS MALFUNCTIONING.
TOYOTA IS AWARE THAT THEY MANUFACTURED THIS CAR AND OTHERS WITH A DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD. THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN SUED FOR THIS. THE MELTED DASHBOARD CAUSES A GLARE IN THE WINDOW MAKING DRIVING UNSAFE AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS. PLUS, THE GOEY DASHBOARD MAY CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO FAIL. RATHER THAN RECALLING THE DEFECTIVE CARS AND REPLACING THE DASHBOARDS ON ALL THESE CARS, TOYOTA CHOSE TO OFFER A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. FIRST OF ALL, I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THIS WARRANTY, BUT IT WOULD NOT HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE IF I WOULD HAVE, BECAUSE THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN MY CAR 2 MONTHS AFTER THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. CAR BRAKES WEAR OUT, TIRES NEED REPLACING, DASH BOARDS ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO MELT! I IMAGINE TOYOTA EXPECTS THE DASHBOARDS TO MELT IN MOST CARS AFTER 10 YEARS AND THIS IS WHY THEY OFFERED A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. THEY CAN NOW PROFIT FROM THEIR OWN MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.

The contact stated that he pulled over, checked the oil level, and discovered that there was no oil in the engine. The contact stated that he added oil and was able to drive with no issues. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who added oil, and advised the contact to drive for 1,000 miles, and then take the vehicle for an oil consumption test. The contact stated that the vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The contact stated that he would check the oil every 3 days and noticed that the oil level was low. The contact stated that he was frequently adding oil. The contact stated that the independent mechanic informed him that the 2009 Toyota Camry had an oil leak issue. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA WORLD OF NEWTON (66 HAMPTON HOUSE RD, NEWTON, NJ 07860, (973) 383-0200) AND BOTH RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED IF THEY WOULD AUTHORIZE THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND WAS TO RESPOND TO THE DEALER AND THE OWNER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER TO REPORT A STICKY, MELTING DASHBOARD. I CALLED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO TO REPORT THIS BUT IT WAS STATED THAT NO RECALLS WERE OUT ON THIS. I SAW ON THE NEWS LAST WEEK ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND I CALLED AGAIN ON 8/5/2019 AND WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT NO RECALLS WERE OUT. I USE A SUN GUARD FOR MY WINDSHIELD BUT THAT ONLY HELPS MINIMALLY. MY DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND I HAVE NO SOLUTIONS. HOW DO I PROCEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL ARE ON THE VEHICLE SLIPS WHEN TAKING OF THE VCS STABILITY IS ON IT'S VERY SCARY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL INTERNALLY. THERE IS NO EXTERNAL LEAKAGE. NOTICED THE PROBLEM IN MAY 2019. HAVE OIL CHANGE DONE. AFTER 600 MILES, NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ON JULY 27, 2019. IN MY OPINION IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. THE PROGRAM COVERAGE IS APPLICABLE FOR 10 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF USE OR 150,000 MILES WHICH EVER OCCUR FIRST. MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED ANYMORE. THIS HAPPENED AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED ON MAY OF 2018. BUT, A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY A MELTING OF THE DASHBOARD SHOULD NOT HAVE A LIMIT TO IT'S NECESSARY REPAIR BY TOYOTA.
