ONE OR MORE OF THE THREADS THAT RECEIVE THE HEAD BOLTS ARE STRIPPED, WHICH CAUSED A LEAKING HEAD GASKET AND COOLANT IS ENTERING THE CYLINDERS. WHEN STARTING/STOPPING, YOU CAN HEAR THE COOLANT SLOSHING AROUND. THE CABIN HEAT GOES AWAY AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS. THE MECHANIC SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THAT ENGINE. THE HEAD BOLTS ARE STEEL AND THE RECEIVING THREADS ARE ALUMINUM. REPAIR OPTIONS ARE TO PUT STEEL INSERTS INTO THE ALUMINUM OR REPLACE THE ENGINE. BOTH OPTIONS ARE ABOUT THE SAME IN LABOR COSTS, BUT IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO GO WITH REPLACING THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE INSERTS WOULD ARE LIKELY TO WORK LOOSE IN A FEW YEARS. REPLACING THE WITH A REFURBISHED ENGINE WILL COST ABOUT $5500. ENGINEERING 101...FOR A CRITICAL JOINT THAT IS SUBJECT TO VIBRATION AND HEAT/COOLING CYCLES, NEVER THREAD INTO ALUMINUM!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT ACCELERATED TO 25 MPH WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (HARR TOYOTA, 100 GOLD STAR BLVD, WORCESTER, MA 01606) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REMEDIED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) YEARS AGO. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
I HAVE A TOYOTA CAMRY (2009 AROUND 84K MILES ON IT) AND YESTERDAY I NOTICED, THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN THE SPEED ODOMETER STOP WORKING AND DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MANY SITES ,THERE IS A RECALL ONLY FOR TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID MODELS(HTTPS://WWW.CONSUMERREPORTS.ORG/CRO/NEWS/2014/07/WHY-TOYOTA-SHOULD-RECALL-THE-CAMRY-HYBRID/INDEX.HTM) NOT FOR OTHER MODELS AND THIS REPAIR COST WOULD GO UPTO 2700 $ WHICH IS 10% OF THE CAR COST . TILL NOW PEOPLE USED TO THINK TOYOTA IS A RELIABLE CAR BUT CERTAINLY THIS IS NOT WITH THESE TYPES OF APPROACH.
ON DECEMBER 3, 2017, MY HUSBAND WAS PARKING OUR 2009 CAMRY ON A CITY STREET WHEN WE EXPERIENCED THE TERRIFYING UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED THIS MODEL ' AND WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE FLOOR MAT AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALLS. AS MY HUSBAND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE TO MOVE SLIGHTLY FORWARD IN THE PARKING SPACE, THERE WAS A LOW ROARING, RACING MOTOR-TYPE SOUND FROM THE GEAR BOX/TRANSMISSION AREA AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. BRAKING COULD NOT STOP THE CAR AND IT DROVE INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF US. BECAUSE WE WERE MOVING AT LOW SPEED THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO EITHER CAR. BUT THERE WAS PERMANENT DAMAGE TO OUR TRUST IN THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY OF OUR 2009 CAMRY, WHICH WE VOWED NEVER TO DRIVE AGAIN. OUR OCCASIONAL PRIOR EXPERIENCES WITH THE CAR'S RACING MOTOR PROBLEMS HAD NEVER CAUSED US TO LOSE CONTROL. FOR EXAMPLE, A FEW YEARS AGO WE HAD RACING ENGINE PROBLEM WHEN BRAKING FOR A LIGHT AFTER COMING OFF A HIGH SPEED INTERSTATE. ON BOTH DECEMBER 2 AND DECEMBER 3, 2017, WE HAD A RACING MOTOR EXPERIENCE DURING PARKING WHEN WE WERE IN REVERSE BUT IT DID NOT CAUSE ANY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IN EACH OF THESE INSTANCES WE WERE ABLE TO USE THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WHO TOOK THE CAR AWAY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HALF A BLOCK TO HIS TRUCK WITHOUT EXPERIENCING THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM.
DRIVERS SIDE VISOR DOES NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO PULL IT ALL THE WAY UP OR DOWN IMPEDING VISION
MY CAR HAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAD TO PUT A QUART OF OIL IN AFTER DRIVING 150 MILES! ALSO ONE OF THE SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK DOES NOT HAVE ANY GIVE, ITS TIGHT, SNAPS BACK TOO QUICKLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE BURNED OIL RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAPLEWOOD TOYOTA (2873 MAPLEWOOD DR, MAPLEWOOD, MN 55109 (651) 482-1322) PRIOR TO THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED THE GASKET AND PISTONS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE UNDER TOYOTA'S WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE HAVING A SALVAGE TITLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AFTER THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR OIL CONSUMPTION, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY RECALL. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS A SALVAGE TITLE, TOYOTA STATED THAT IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR WARRANTY ENHANCEMENTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERY LOW AFTER A RECENT OIL CHANGE. THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF LANCASTER, 43301 12TH ST W, LANCASTER, CA 93534, (661) 948-0731) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO WAIT A MONTH AND OBSERVE IF THERE WAS WHITE OR BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE, WHICH COULD SIGNAL A FAILURE WITH THE PISTON SEALS. THE CONTACT TRIED USING THICK SYNTHETIC OIL, BUT THE OIL LEVEL FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
DASH HAS BECOME STICKY AND SHINY. IT CAUSES AN UNSAFE GLARE WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STICKY RESIDUE AND A SHINY REFLECTION, WHICH IMPACTED THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THOMPSON TOYOTA (1101 BUSINESS CENTER WAY, EDGEWOOD, MD 21040, (410) 679-1500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE TOYOTA DASH MELTING, CRACKING WARRANTY EXTENSION (LSC ZE6) PROGRAM; HOWEVER, THE PROGRAM HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO AUTHORIZE THE DEALER TO COVER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND SUGGESTED HAVING THE DEALER REPLACE THE PART. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
WAS TOLD THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS LEAKING, WHICH IT WAS , HAD IT REPAIRED. I HAD IT REPLACED RECENTLY AGAIN AS THE FIRST REPAIR SHOP DID IT INCORRECTLY. CAR IS STILL USING ABOUT A HALF A QUART OF OIL EVERY 700 MILES. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT ALL OVER FOR LEAKS (RESULTED IN GASKET REPLACEMENT), NO OTHER LEAKS DETECTED. THE CAR NOW HAS OVER 175,000 MILES AND IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING TOYOTA WILL NOT COVER IT AS IT IS OVER THE 150K LIMIT. IT RUNS NORMALLY, NO LOSS OF POWER, DOES NOT KNOCK OR PING. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS WILL GET WORSE OVER TIME . I ALWAYS THOUGHT I HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN THE WAY OF RELIABILITY AS A TOYOTA OWNER. I HAVE MY DOUBTS AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINT SITES AND SEE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL YEAR, OF EXCESSIVE OIL USE. TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE , I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE .

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL BECAME WORN OVER TIME DUE TO HEAT AND AFFECTED THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A SPECIAL WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TAKATA RECALL I NEVER GOT NOTICE THAT MY 209 CAMRY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TAKATA AIRBAG. WHEN CHECKING YOU SIGHT, THE ONLY PLACE I CAN GET IT REPLACED IS OVER 2 HOURS AWAY FROM Y HOME. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW FROM SPARKS TOYOTA IN MYRTLE BEACH AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT REPAIRED THERE!
I WAS TRAVEL ON THE BELT AROUND RICHMOND (295) HEADED SOUTH AT APPROX. 70 MPH AND THE BACK WINDOW WAS SLIGHTLY CRACKED OPEN. THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION LIKE SOUND GOING OFF AND THEN I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN MY SUN ROOF. THIS OCCURRED ON 19 OCT 2017 @ 1800HRS. I LOOKED FOR A ROCK OR ANY OTHER OBJECT THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT AND NOTHING WAS FOUND.
2 COMPLAINTS: 1. WHEN I DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL. IT SOMETIMES GET STUCK WHERE I HAVE TO PRESS EVEN HARDER AND THEN THE FRONT WHEELS START SPINNING TOO RAPIDLY. ONE TIME AT A SCHOOL CROSS WALK, THE PEDAL STUCK, I PUSHED HARDER AND FINALLY THE WHEELS ENGAGED BUT THE SCREECHING IT MADE, HAD THE SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD GIVING ME A "DIRTY" LOOK. 2. THE CAMRY IS GOING THROUGH OIL LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE. WITHIN 5000 MILES I HAVE HAD TO ADD MORE THAN 4 QUARTS OF OIL. IT IS RIDICULOUS.
OIL BURNING CONSUMPTION, MY VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY BURNING OIL AND WHEN I WENT TO THE TOYOTA OF ORLANDO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE THEY ADVISED MY VEHICLE HAD PASSED THE TEST, SO DUE TO THEM STATING THIS THEY DID NOT REPAIR MY VEHICLE , SINCE THEN I HAVE REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA AND THEY TOO, ARE FAILING TO DO ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AS NOW MY VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILLAGE , BUT WHEN I ORIGINALLY WENT AND GOT THE TEST DONE IT WAS UNDER THE MILLAGE FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO KEEP PUTTING OIL IN MY VEHICLE AND I DON'T THINK THAT IS FAIR TO ME AS THEY FAILED TO DO THE REPAIR.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON MOST OF THE TIME, RARELY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF. WHEN ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON, RPM AND ODOMETER GO TO ZERO, AC BECOMES WARMER, SOMETIMES ENGINE COOLING INDICATOR ALSO BLINKS. HOWEVER, WHEN ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT GO OFF, EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER, SPENT AROUND $350 TO DIAGNOSE, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ECM WHICH WILL COST $3000. ITS REALLY SHOCKING
I BOUGHT 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM USED DEALER IN FEB 2016. I HAD SOME OTHER ISSUES BUT NOT LOSING ENGINE OIL. ON AUGUST 21ST TOOK THE CAR FOR OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE ADVISER ASKED IF MY CAR LOSE OIL. I SAID NO. THEN SAID WELL IF YOU DO LOSE OIL THEN BRING BACK AND WE WILL FIX FREE OF CHARGE. WITHIN FEW DAYS ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT SHOWED UP, TOOK TO THE SAME DEALER AND HE SAID DON'T WORRY IT WILL BE FIXED FREE. AFTER 3 WEEKS NO RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA, CALLED THEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY CANT REPAIR IT FREE AS ENGINE IS NOT ORIGINAL ON THE CAR. I SAID I HAVE NOW IDEA AS I BOUGHT USED, PLUS I NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE, THEY SABOTAGE MY CAR TO CREATE A WORK SO GET PAID BY THE TOYOTA CORP. THIS IS NOT FAIR TOYOTA HAVING SUCH REPUTATION. CAR HAS STILL TOYOTA CAMRY ENGINE AND DRIVEN MILES 130K. IF TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE, THERE WILL BE A COMPAIGN AGAINST TOYOTA FROM THE FIRST PLACE AS THIS CAR IS NO MORE RELIABLE.
The dashboard has become sticky and shiny. When driving while sunny the dashboard reflects into the windshield making it hard to see. This happened for the first time in 2017, but it is an ongoing problem.
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0 EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS STILL PERFORMING AND ACCELERATING. THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY TOYOTA.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY, BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS TURN ON, RPM AND SPEEDOMETER STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, AND A/C ALSO SEEMS TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ABS HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR THE COST OF $3000. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM.
SO MY DASHBOARD IS REFLECTIVE AND STICKY, I GO TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAY IT ISN'T THAT BAD, I THEN GO 6 MONTHS LATER AND FIND OUT MY WARRANTEE IS 26 DAYS OVER ITS EXPIRATION DATE.

THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA OF SARASOTA IN SARASOTA, FLORIDA, BUT THEY REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE PER MANUFACTURER'S ORDERS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE OIL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
ODO METER MALFUNCTION, ABS LIGHT,BRAKE LIGHT ON. AC NOT WORKING
2009 CAMRY LE STARTED GOING THROUGH A QUART OF 5-20 SYNTHETIC OIL PER 1000 MILES. THE CAR IS EXCELLENTLY MAINTAINED AND THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY SINCE PURCHASE. THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AT 158,000 MILES (SEPT 2017). NICHOLE AT WOLFCHASE TOYOTA, GERMANTOWN, TN SAID THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT CONDUCT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST NOR FIX THE PROBLEM IF PROVEN IF THE CAR IS OLDER THAN 10 YEARS OR OVER 150,000 MILES.
DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING. DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY, SHINY AND GREASY. NOW SUNLIGHT REFLECTS BACK ON WINDSHIELD GLASS, AND REDUCES VISIBILITY OF ROAD. ON BRIGHT SUNNY DAY, SUNLIGHT REFLECTION ON WINDSHIELD MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT COVERING DASHBOARD.
THE DASHBOARD APPEARS TO BE MELTING. IT IS STICKY TO THE TOUCH.
STICKNESS OF DASHBOARD,THE SHINY/REFLECTIVE SURFACE
WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE FROM TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS - THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WERE RUN AND IT DETECTED NORMAL (TESTED TWICE BECAUSE INCONCLUSIVE). THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON WHEN TRAVELING OUT OF STATE, THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF LOSE OF ENGINE OIL AND THEN CAR MADE A STRANGE SOUND. VEHICLE STOPPED ON THE BRIDGE, IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BRAGGING WITH THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND PRESENTED NOT SIGNS OF PROBLEMS WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS NORMALLY SERVICED AT DEALERSHIPS AND HAVE ALWAYS RESPONDED TO UPDATES. THE MOTOR DID NOT SHOW SIGNS OF WEAR OR TEAR, WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND DID NOT KNOW OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE IS NOW LOCATED IN VIRGINIA BEACH, THE MILEAGE IS OVER 260,000 AND TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO MY RESIDENCE WOULD BE TOO COSTLY. THE VEHICLE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ESTIMATED TO COST $3000 TO REPAIR THE MOTOR AND MORE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR.
DASHBOARD IS STICKY, GUMMY AND PEELING OFF. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO AUGUST 30, 2018. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALER IN AUGUST 2017 WITH THE PROBLEM EXISTING BUT DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL. TOYOTA INFORMED ME TODAY THAT THEY SENT A NOTICE TO OWNERS IN 2014 BUT I DIDN'T OWN THE CAR IN 2014 SO NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTICE. IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET THIS COVERED? IT'S GROSS. I CAN'T FIND ANY WAY TO FIX IT WITHOUT TEARING THE DASHBOARD OUT AND REPLACING IT MYSELF AND I'M NOT GOOD AT THAT. I CAN SEND YOU PICTURES OF THE NASTINESS. THE FORM ASKS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I BOUGHT IT WITH THE PROBLEM AND DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A USED 2009 CAMRY, WITH A MELTING DASHBOARD. THE CAR SALESPERSON TOLD ME IT'S JUST CLEANER, SO OF COURSE I BELIEVED THEM. ALTHOUGH, WHEN I GOT HOME I READ ALL ABOUT TOYOTA'S PROBLEM WITH MELTING DASHBOARDS. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS COMPANY'S INTERIOR MANUFACTURING. THERE IS AN INTENSE REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE STICKY DASHBOARD. THIS MAKES IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING.
I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY AND REALIZED THAT MY DASHBOARD IS BEGINNING TO MELT. THERE IS A VERY STICKY RESIDUE ON THE DASHBOARD AND IT WILL NOT COME OFF. I ALSO HAVE TRIED CALLING TOYOTA BUT HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY WHERE WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF MY DASHBOARD. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO HAVE MY DASHBOARD REPLACED. IT ALSO CREATES A TERRIBLE GLARE IN THE DAY TIME AND IT OBSTRUCTS YOUR VISION. AT THIS POINT ITS A SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN WILL THEY REPLACE THESE DASHBOARDS???

SUN VISORS ARE FAULTY DESIGN. HEAT (SUN) CAUSE EXPANSION OF THE PLASTIC JOINTS TO EXPAND/CONTRACT EVENTUALLY LEADING TO FAILURE. THE VISOR HANGS DOWN BLOCKING DRIVER'S VISION. REPLACEMENTS COST $90 OR MORE AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS BECAUSE OF FAULTY DESIGN.

TOYOTA CAMRY STICKY DASHBOARD MELTING DASHBOARDS TURN INTO SHINY GLARE DASHBORD. MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN STICKY / TACKY FOR YEARS. I DO NOT KNOW WHY OR HOW IT GOT THIS WAY. IT ACCUMULATES DUST AND GRIME, AND I HAVE NO WAY TO PROPERLY CLEAN IT SINCE ALL TOWELS AND CLEANING CLOTHS, UNLESS EXTREMELY WET, GET CAUGHT ON IT, AND THEN IT ACCUMULATES FIBERS FROM THE CLEANING CLOTHS.
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THE GLUE IS OOZING THROUGH THE TOP AND NOW RESTRICTS MY FORWARD VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAY. IT IS VERY STICKY/REFLECTIVE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT NOW I CANNOT SEE ALL OBJECTS IN FRONT OF ME. IF THE SUN IS AT THE RIGHT ANGLE IT IS BLINDING.

CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT HIGH-SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. ON JUNE 22, 2017 AT ~ 9:05 AM I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON MA RTE 128 IN LEFT PASSING LANE JUST BEYOND THE MANCHESTER EXITS. I WAS IN THE LEFT-HAND LANE IN A CLUSTER OF CARS TRAVELING AT 65-70 MPH. I WAS TRAVELING ~ 70 MPH PASSING THE VEHICLES ON THE RIGHT. THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME IN THE LEFT-HAND LANE, THE CLOSEST APPROXIMATELY 40-50 FT BEHIND ME. SUDDENLY I HEARD A EXPLOSION UNDER MY CAR. IMMEDIATELY CLOUDS OF A SMOKE-LIKE VAPOR POURED FORTH FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR, FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER AND A RACKET FROM UNDER THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY THREW ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND SOMEHOW MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF RT. 128 WITHOUT A COLLISION. LUCKILY NO ONE GOT HURT. FROM ALL THAT I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE FAILURE, IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY TRANSMISSION, YET I HAD IT SERVICED, INCLUDING AN OIL CHANGE, AT IRA TOYOTA IN DANVERS MA ~ 6 MONTHS AGO. I HAD NO INDICATION OF LOW OIL PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.

SUN VISOR SAGS. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN AND TOYOTA SAYS WE RECEIVED IT VIA MAIL. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AT A TOYOTA DEALER THAT WENT OUT OF BUSINESS IN GREENBROOK NJ. WE TOOK THE CAR TO DCH AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTIFICATIONS. THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WAS FALLING DOWN. WE CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SAID IT IS OUT BY 4 YEARS YET WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATIONS. WE CONTACTED THEM ABOUT NOT RECEIVING IT AND THEY SAID WE HAVE THE CORRECT ADDRESS. NOW WE PAY FOR ALL THE RECALLS AND SERVICE BULLETINS. THE VISOR WOULD BE A VISIBILITY FACTOR WHEN LINE OF SITE IS INTERRUPTED. WE HAD TO FIX AT OUR COST OF 104.00 FOR A PLASTIC SUN VISOR THAT HAD AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE GLUE SEPARATED AND IT WAS NOT THE FAULT OF THE OWNER.
ENGINE BURNS APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL FOR EVERY 500 MILES. GENERAL TOYOTA OF TOMS RIVER STATED THAT OIL CONSUMPTION ON THE ENGINE IS WITHIN ALLOWANCE AND REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT 142000 MILES. CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THIS DEALER WITH NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK, AND IGNORED.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. TOYOTA SAYS THEY WANT REPAIR THE PROBLEM UNLESS USING 1 QTR PER 1000 MILES. IF A CAR WAS USING THAT MUCH OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THERE WOULD BE NO OIL FOR IT TO RUN ON. IF THE OIL IS DEPLETED FROM THE MOTOR ON THE INTERSTATE AND LOCKS UP, ACCIDENTS WILL BE CAUSED. MY CAR IS USING SEVERAL QTRS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
