TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE CONSUMED AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF OIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL QUARTS OF OIL WERE PLACED IN THE VEHICLE, ALL OF WHICH WERE CONSUMED WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING AN OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
THIS CAMRY IS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL, AT THE RATE OF ABOUT ONE QT EVERY 400 MILES.
THE SUNVISORS FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FAIL DOWN. THEY BLOCK THE VIEW WHEN I AM DRIVING . IT IS DANGEROUS
SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT STAY SNAPPED UP, FALLS DOWN INHIBITING MY ABILITY TO SEE SAFELY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TO DUCK DOWN TO OBTAIN A CLEAR VIEW OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING.
OIL CONSUMTION AND WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM CARWHEN STARTING AND FUMES GOING INTO HOUSE
I WAS SLOWLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG COME FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR ON THE LEFT FRONT. AS I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC I HEARD A CLANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE SPRING AROUND THE STRUT HAD BROKEN. I HAD THE SPRING STRUT REPLACED AT A COST OF $350. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE CAR HAS 64,000 MILES WITH ALL WORK PERFORMED AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, EXCEPT MY LAST SET OF MICHELIN TIRES.
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. I HAVE DONE THE WHOLE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE CAR HAD HARDLY BURNED OFF ANY OIL AFTER THE 1,200 MILES OF DRIVING. YET WHEN I DROVE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER 2,300 MILES THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. SO I HAVE BEEN CARRYING EXTRA QUARTS OF OIL WITH MY WHENEVER THE LIGHT COMES ON. TOYOTA SAID THAT I COULD HAVE IT TESTED AGAIN AFTER 6 MONTHS AND THIS WOULD BE THE LAST ONE THEY WOULD PERFORM. THERE IS NEVER LEAKING OIL ANYWHERE OUT SIDE OF THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN PARKED. TOYOTA CLEARLY KNOWS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE SINCE THEY HAVE POSTED AT TSB. JUST FIX MY CAR!
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE RUBBER PORTION OF THE VVT-I OIL HOSE RUPTURED. THIS FAULTY PART, WHICH TOYOTA NEGLECTED TO REPLACE WITH THEIR UPDATED ALL-METAL LINE UNDER THEIR TSB, WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL ON ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE IT AND POSES A SERIOUS RISK FOR CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE, AS WELL AS THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ENGINE OIL FIRE UNDER THE HOOD DUE TO ITS PROXIMITY TO HOT ENGINE PARTS, AS WELL AS THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD.
DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY FALLEN OFF. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VISOR NOW BLOCKS MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL NOT FOLD UP AND OUT OF THE WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 4 DAYS.
VEHICLE CONSUMES 1 QUART OF OIL EACH 1,200 MILES WHILE DRIVING IN CITY
MY TRUNK IS LEAKING ON THE RIGHT SIDE DURING HEAVY DOWNPOURS. I WENT TO GET OUR FABRIC SHOPPING BAGS FROM THE TRUNK AND THEY WERE SOAKED. THE CAR IS SMELLING MUSTY, NOT GREAT FOR MY SINUSES AND ASTHMA. HEADLIGHT SEAL IS ALLOWING MOISTURE TO ENTER OR THE PLASTIC HAS BECOME POROUS. DURING A RECENT INSPECTION, THE HEADLIGHTS DID NOT PASS. WE PAID THE GAS STATION $32 TO CLEAN AND POLISH THE HEADLIGHTS TO PASS INSPECTION. THEY LOOKED GREAT AFTERWARDS AND PASSED INSPECTION. THEN MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR TO THE CAR WASH. NOW THE HEADLIGHT CASING IS CLOUDED AGAIN. I CAN SEE THE SOAP DRIPPINGS FROM THE CARWASH ON THE INSIDE OF THE PLASTIC. THE CAR IS PARKED ON THE STREET OR IN A DRIVEWAY, SINCE WE DON'T HAVE A GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the reflection from the melted dashboard impaired his view while driving. The contact stated that the dashboard was sticky and shiny and reflected on the windshield while driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the Extended Warranty coverage on the vehicle had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
THE POWER STEERING (RACK AND PINION) ARE HARD TO TURN IN MOTION OR NOT IN MOTION, TOYOTA DEALER CHARGE US $3000, BASE ON TOYOTA CERTIFIED MECHANIC IT CAN FAIL ANYTIME AND CAUSE ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO 2004-2009 TOYOTA PRIUS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA FINALLY MAKE IT AS RECALL ON THE TOYOTA PRIUS. REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION OR ANY POWER STEERING PARTS. WE DO NOT KNOW WHY TOYOTA CAMRY IS NOT CONSIDER THE SAME PROBLEM AS A RECALL

THE CONTACT CALLED COAD TOYOTA PADUCAH (3941 MIKE SMITH DR, PADUCAH, KY 42001) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. MY CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK IN MARCH, 2017. THE VEHICLE NEXT TO ME WAS A BMW SUV. ABOUT ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER THE BMW BURST INTO FLAMES CAUSING FIRE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR THE BMW HAS CLOSED THE CLAIM SAYING THE FIRE WAS NOT INTENTIONAL THEREFORE THEY ARE NOT PAYING ANYTHING FOR MY CLAIM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY IS PAYING FOR REPAIRS TO MY CAR, HOWEVER, I HAVE TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE AND COST OF A RENTAL CAR. AFTER THIS HAPPENED I SAW SEVERAL NEWS REPORTS OF BMW'S BURSTING INTO FLAMES AFTER BEING TURNED OFF FOR A WHILE. THEY SAID I WAS 0% AT FAULT (OBVIOUSLY), BUT IT DOES NOT SEEM FAIR THAT I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS INCIDENT. ALL I DID WAS PARK MY CAR; MY CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HOPE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL SEVERAL INCIDENTS ARE FAR TOO MANY FOR BMW TO IGNORE. THEY CERTAINLY HAVE MORE MONEY THAN I DO. I HAVE PHOTOS, VIDEO, ETC.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED AND THERE WAS NO FIRE REPORT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V491000 (VISIBILITY). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

MY CAR HAD 4 GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRES. WITHIN 6 MONTHS, I HAD TWO FRONT TIRES WITH SIDEWALL FAILURES. BOTH TIMES I FOUND THE CAR WITH A FLAT TIRE - SIDEWALL FAILURE.
TAKATA RECALL 1) THE STICKYNESS OF THE DASHBOARD, AND (2) THE SHINY/REFLECTIVE SURFACE THE DASHBOARD CREATES, AS A SAFETY HAZARD. MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER HAS HAD THE STICKY RESIDUE CAUSE DIFFICULTY IN DECISION MAKING WITH REFLECTION. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED WITH HER SAFETY!WE PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MARCH 2017 FROM A RETIRED OWNER.
THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE, GEAR GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND, WHEN IT DOES, THE AC DOES NOT WORK. THE PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. OVER TIME, THE OTHER GAUGES AND THE AC BECAME INVOLVED. WHEN THESE WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF AND THE GAUGES WORK, THE AC ALSO WORKS. I AM TOLD THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
EXCESSIVE BURNING OF OIL. HAVE HAD TO CHANGE OIL IN LESS THAN 3000 MILES DUE TO OIL LIGHT COMING ON AND NO OIL REGISTERING ON DIPSTICK, AND NOW NO OIL AFTER JUST OVER 1000 MILES OF DRIVING.
MY SON, DRIVING TO BACK TO SHOOL, WAS LEFT IN THE ROAD WITH OUR 2009 CAMRY 5 SECONDS AFTER THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. (EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE KNOWN BY TOYOTA - AUGUST 11, 2011, TOYOTA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB TO DEALERS) WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM OR WE WOULD HAVE ADVISED HIM TO CHECK THE OIL EVERY GAS FILL UP TO PREVENT PROBLEMS. THE CAR IS A COMPLETE LOSS, BUT WHAT CONCERNS ME MOST IS THAT HE WAS ON A COUNTRY HIGHWAY WITH MILES OF OPEN SPACE BETWEEN TOWNS. LUCKILY HE WAS JUST ENTERING BEDFORD VA AND MADE IT TO THE ENTRANCE OF A SHOPPING CENTER BEFORE THE CAR DIED. SINCE HE WAS BLOCKING THE SHOPPING CENTER ENTRANCE 'SOME RANDOM GUY' HELPED HIM PUSH THE CAR INTO A PARKING AREA. HAD THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN TOWNS AND HIS CAR BEEN STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. BOTH THE SHOP WE TOWED THE CAR TO AND THE COMPANY THAT LAST CHANGED THE OIL INVESTIGATED WHY THE OIL RAN DRY AFTER ONLY 1500 MILES. THEIR CONCLUSIONS MATCHED IN THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FAULTY MAINTANANCE FROM THE OIL CHANGE NOR ANY SIGNS OF OBVIOUS LEAKS. TO LEAVE PEOPLE IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS BECAUSE A COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT NOR DO THEY WANT TO NOTIFY OWNERS THAT THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IS BEYOND CONTEMPT. THIS IS PURE NEGLIGENCE ON TOYOTA'S PART NOT INFORMING THE CAR OWNERS OF THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME WE NEED TO DETERMINE WHAT TO DO WITH A 'DEAD' CAR.
SMELL BURNING OF OIL INSIDE CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREET. I CHECKED OIL DIPSTICK AND NO TRACE OF OIL, MEANING OIL EXTREMELY LOW. I HAVE DRIVEN CAR ABOUT 2800 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. THE RECOMMENDATION IS TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 5000 MILES PER TOYOTA OWNER MANUAL. MY ODOMETER READING IS 76488 MILES. TOYOTA DEALER CHECK CAR LAST YEAR FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND SAID CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN MONITORING OIL CONSUMPTION MYSELF . I FOUND THAT MIDWAY BETWEEN OIL CHANGE( I.E. 2500 MILES) , I HAVE TO ADD 2QUARTS OF OIL TO BRING LEVEL TO NORMAL. *TR
BOTH HEADLIGHTS ON MY CAR ON THE DIM LIGHTS THE MIRROR THAT REFLECTS LIGHT HAS FELL DOWN AND COVERED THE LENS HALF WAY AND MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IF I DON'T REPLACE THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT IT COULD COVER THE WHOLE LIGHT DIM AND BRIGHT LIGHTS IF I PUT THEM ON DIM YOU CAN'T SEE AT ALL I ALMOST WRECKED.
CAR IS BURNING >2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. 115K MILES ON THE CAR. THE TROUBLE BEGAN ABOUT WHEN TRUMP GOT INTO OFFICE AND IS GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE.
I PURCHASED A USED 2009 CAMRY BASE MODEL FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. SHE NOTIFIED ME THAT THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN ON THE INSIDE OF THE VISOR. IT HANGS DOWN OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VIEW EVEN WHEN SNAPPED INTO PLACE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP TO BE FIXED AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ON ALMOST EVERY 2009 CAMRY AND THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT, ONLY REPLACE IT AT MY OWN COST. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR INADVERTENTLY ILLUMINATED AND THE HORN INADVERTENTLY FAILED TO FUNCTION. IN ADDITION, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. BOTH REAR TIRES MADE A LOUD NOISE, THE ENGINE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING, AND THE WATER HOSE DETACHED AND CAUSED WATER TO LEAK OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE SHOCKS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
I WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON A CITY STREET TURNING INTO A SHOPPING PLAZA AND APPLIED THE BRAKES TO LET OPPOSITE WESTBOARD TRAFFIC TO CLEAR. THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKES AND I HIT THE CENTER CONCRETE MEDIAN THAT DIVIDES EAST AND WESTBOUND TRAFFIC.
THE DASH IS MELTING AND CAUSES A GLARE NIGHT AND DAY. IT'S LIKE IT IS HIGH GLOSS. I WAS NEVER SENT ANYTHING IN THE MAIL ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE TWO CAMRYS AND BOTH ARE THE SAME. THIS STARTED IN 2016, I THOUGHT THE PEOPLE AT AUTO BELL SCREWED MY CAR UP FOR A COUPLE YEARS UNTIL I STOPPED BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS A CLINKING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESUMED DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION STRUTS SPRING DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY 2009 CAMRY SE (4 CYLINDER) DID NOT BURN OIL, LEAK OIL OR OTHERWISE HAVE ANY ISSUE WITH OIL UNTIL I GOT MY OIL LOW OIL LIGHT AT APPROXIMATLEY 130,000 MILES. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT HAD BEEN THE ONLY PLACE THAT HAD CHANGED THE OIL IN MY CAR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND THE SUDDEN OIL CONSUMPTION COULD BE FIXED IF IT FAILED A SIMPLE TEST. THE TEST IS TO CHANGE THE OIL IN YOUR CAMRY, AND BETWEEN 1,000 AND 1,300 MILES LATER (NOT TO EXCEED 1,300 MILES) TO DUMP AN ENTIRE QUART OF OIL IN THE CRANKCASE. IF THE LEVEL WAS FULL, THERE WAS NO FURTHER ACTION TO TAKE. IF IT WAS LOWER THAN FULL, TOYOTA WOULD TEAR INTO YOUR ENGINE AND FIX THE ISSUE AT NO COST TO ME. NOT A VERY SCIENTIFIC TEST, BUT THEY PERFORMED THIS ON MY CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 133,000 MILES. IT WAS NOT DETERMINED THAT FURTHER ACTION WAS REQUIRED. I DETERMINED THAT MY CAR HAD USED 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN APPROXIMATELY 4,700 MILES, PRIOR TO THE TEST. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD WAIT UNTIL IT WAS BURNING MORE OIL, AND I COULD BRING IT BACK IN TO REPEAT THE TEST. 9 MONTHS LATER, I DETERMINED THAT I WAS USING 1 QUART OF OIL FOR EVERY 1,000 MILES DRIVEN. I NOW HAVE 150,430 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. DURING THE ORIGINAL TEST, THE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO MILEAGE LIMIT, AND THEY HAD ACTUALLY JUST REBUILT THE ENGINE IN A RAV 4 WITH 179,000 MILES ON IT. DURING THE CALL ON 12-23-16, I WAS TOLD THAT I MISSED THE DEADLINE OF OCTOBER 31ST, AND THE DEAL NOW ONLY WAS FOR VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 150,000 MILES. I CALLED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER 800-331-4331AND OPENED CASE NUMBER 1612273514. THEY INFORMED ME THE PROGRAM HAD NEVER CHANGED, AND DEALERSHIPS WERE CONFUSED WITH HOW TO ADMINISTER THE PROGRAM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PISTON RINGS ARE A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME AT THIS TIME. THEY FIELD MANY CS CALLS ON THIS MATTER.
MY WIFE AND I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT RECEIVES SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. WE HAD 234,000 MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES, WHEN WE HEARD A CLANGING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP DID AN INSPECTION AND FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. THEY BOTH HAD SECTIONS BROKEN OFF ON THE LARGER END. THE DEALERSHIP SHOWED ME BOTH BROKEN OFF COILED ENDS, ONE IN EACH HAND WHILE I WAS IN THE WAITING ROOM DURING THE INSPECTION PROCESS. THE SHOCKS WERE STILL IN EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH NO LEAKING. WE DID NOT HAVE THIS COIL SPRING PROBLEM WITH OUR FIRST 1995 CAMRY EVEN THOUGH WE DROVE IT 465,000 MILES! WE WOULD HAVE HIT 500,000 IF THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN REAR ENDED. OUR CONCERN IS WITH OUR MILEAGE WE ENTERED A POTENTIAL RECALL ZONE FOR THE 2009 COIL SPRINGS THAT OTHER 2009 CAMRY DRIVERS MAY ENCOUNTER WITH LOWER OR SIMILAR MILEAGE.
WE HAVE A 2009 CAMRY LE WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES ON IT. THE DASH IS STARTING TO MELT AND STICK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED VIOLENT SHAKING AFTER BEING OPERATED AT 50 MPH. THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THEY SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT STATED UPON INSPECTION THEY SAW RED FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY DE-POWERED THE VEHICLE AND EXITED IT IMMEDIATELY AFTER SEEING THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CITY WORLD TOYOTA DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY IS PART OF THE ZE7- WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE PRIMARY COVERAGE FOR THIS ISSUE WAS GOOD UNTIL OCTOBER 31, 2016 AND SECONDARY COVER UNTIL 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF FIRST USE (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST). MY CAR DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE UNTIL LATE NOVEMBER AND WHEN THE CAR WAS AT 149,500 MILES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE (CASE #1611293174) AND WAS ADVISED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD BE UNDER 150,000 WHEN THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS INITIATED IT STILL MET THE SERVICE GUIDELINES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INITIATE THE TEST WITH THE CAR STILL UNDER 150,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED TOYOTA AND TOYOTA ADVISED THAT SINCE THE CAR WOULD BE OVER 150,000 MILE WHEN THE CAR FINISHED THE TEST IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AGAIN REFERENCING MY CASE NUMBER AND THEY VERIFIED WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP BUT NOW WERE TELLING ME IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE BY TOYOTA AND THEY ARE DOING EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO GET AROUND REPAIRING A DEFECTIVE PART. NOW I HAVE TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CAR HAS DIMINISHED VALUE DUE TO THIS KNOWN ISSUE AND I HAVE TO EITHER COVER THE REPAIR COST OR DEAL WITH THE ISSUE WHICH INCLUDES CONSTANTLY CHECKING MY OIL TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T RUN OUT AND COMPLETELY KILL THE ENGINE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS CAR HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
THE CAR IS CONSUMING OIL MORE THAN NORMAL. TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. ISSUE WAS NEVER NOTIFIED TO ME VIA MAIL OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF COMMUNICATION.
WE HAVE AN INTERMITTENT REOCCURRING ISSUE WHEN VEHICLE US DRIVEN BEFORE FULL WARM-UP (10 MINUTES OR LONGER). THE ISSUE IS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A ZERO RPM (STOP LIGHT) SCENARIO, THE VEHICLES RPMS GO UP HIGH, BUT THE THE CAR MOVES VERY SLOWLY. AS IF IT'S NOT IN SYNC WITH THE GAS PEDAL WHEN BEING PRESSED. TRANSMISSION FAILURE HAS BEEN TESTED AND NOT NOTED. DUE TO THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE PROBLEM, WE HAVE TAKEN DRASTIC MEASURES, SUCH AS INSTALLING A REMOTE START TO BRING VEHICLE TO TEMPERATURE BEFORE DRIVING. THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF THE CUT OUT OF THE ACCELERATION HAPPENS WHEN MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY OR CAUSING REAR IMPACT TO UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS. CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED AT LOCAL DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE, BUT I WANT THIS DOCUMENTED SHALL ANY ACCIDENT EVER OCCUR DUE TO SPEED CONTROL FAILURE.
CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL IN TWO-THREE MONTHS PERIOD. I GOT LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ON AND OFF WHEN I HIT THE BREAK HARD, THEN ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WAS ON AND OFF. I WENT TO NEAREST AUTO STORE AND CHECKED ENGINE OIL. IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, I MEAN DRY. I JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE IT SINCE TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND MY CAR PASSED THE TEST A FEW MONTH AGO. I WAS TOLD THE AUTO SHOP WORKER THAT I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE IT WAS SO CLOSE TO BURN UP THE ENGINE. I CHECKED ONLINE AND MANY PEOPLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE ON 2009 CAMRY. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS WELL. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY TOYOTA.
I WAS TAKING MY FATHER TO THE DOCTOR IN A TOWN 2 HOURS AWAY. I STOPPED TO PICK HIM UP (CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND I WENT INSIDE TO GET HIM) AND WHEN WE GOT INTO THE CAR, IT WOULD NOT START AND THE "KEY INDICATOR" LIGHT WAS ON. I CHECKED THE NISSAN MANUAL WHICH INFORMED ME THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. I HAD MY CAR TOWED THE NEXT DAY AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL NISSAN MECHANIC. I ALSO DID RESEARCH REGARDING THE ICON LIGHT AND FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF 2009 NISSANS HAD EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC CALLED WITH THE NEWS THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK NEEDED REPLACING AT A CHARGE OF 910.00. THIS IS CERTAINLY AN ISSUE THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO CONSIDER AS A RECALL. OUR MECHANIC HAD 2 MORE CALLS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AFTER WE BROUGHT OUR CAR IN LAST WEEK. I HOPE NISSAN WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY AND REIMBURSE ALL THOSE WHO HAVE REPLACED THIS PART.
THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT HAD COME ON INDICATING MY OIL WAS LOW. I HAD A SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE APPT. AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN A FEW WEEKS SO I CHECKED THE DIPSTICK, WHICH INDICATED THE OIL WAS LOW, AND ADDED TWO QUARTS. AT MY APPOINTMENT ON 11/19/16, I STATED THE OIL ISSUE AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STARTED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. WHEN I RETURNED TO GET THE RESULTS FROM THE TEST ON 1/2/17, IT WAS REVEALED MY CAR HAD FAILED AND THE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I AM TOLD BY A FORMER CERTIFIED TOYOTA MECHANIC, THAT THEIR STANDARDS FOR FAILING OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS ARE VERY HIGH, SO TO FAIL A TEST IS A HUGE CONCERN. THE TEST WAS RAN WHEN MY MILEAGE WAS AT 151,499. THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE HAD OBVIOUSLY STARTED WELL BEFORE THE TEST WAS RAN. HOWEVER, SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF THE 10 YR/150K MILE WARRANTY, TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. I CALLED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE LINE TWICE AND THEY TOLD ME LEGALLY THEY COULD NOT COVER THE COST. THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE 151,499 MILES. I CALLED THE TOYOTA REGION TO SEE IF THEY WILL FIX IT IN GOOD WILL SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN GOOD FAITH AND ALWAYS HAD IT REGULARLY MAINTENANCED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I WAS STILL TOLD NO, THEY LEGALLY COULDN'T HELP ME. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY CAR HAD A POTENTIAL FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE ONLY RECALL NOTICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM THEM WAS TO GET EXTRA GREASE PUT ON A SWITCH FOR MY WINDOW MOTOR. IF THEY HAD ALERTED ME SOONER THAT MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE TESTED OR IF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL FOR SIMILAR CARS, THEN I WOULD NOT BE STUCK DRIVING A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. I HAVE TO PUT A QUART OF OIL IN EVERY WEEK JUST TO MAKE SURE IT IS DRIVABLE. I AM PAYING FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET HOPING THAT THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE BLOCK. I DO NOT WANT TO SELL THIS CAR SINCE IT IS A POTENTIAL DANGER AND PUT SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE AT RISK.
MOTOR OIL IS BURNING EXCESSIVELY I HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL EVERY WEEKEND AND THE DEALER SAYS IS NORMAL, I THINK IS NOT NORMAL TO KEEP ADDING OIL WHEN THERE IS NO LEAK. DASHBOARD IS PRACTICALLY MELTING IT WAS REPORTED BACK IN MAY BECAUSE IN THE SUMMER TIME IT GETS VERY STICKY THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL TAKE MONTHS OR A YEAR BEFORE THEY COULD FIX IT. RADIO HAS A MALFUNCTION IT WAS REPLACED BACK IN 2014 BECAUSE THE SCREEN TURN BLACK AND NOT ABLE TO TURN IT ON OR OFF. IN 2016 THE RADIO IS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASON AND THE DEALER WON'T REPLACE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS FINISHED.
THE INSIDE BOARD OF THE WAGON WITH THE SUN MELTS BECOMES STICKY AND THE LIGHT GOES DOWN AND I'M SCARED MAYBE I'M SCARED TO MAKE A SHORT CIRCUIT AND CATCH FIRE.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD CLEARLY DUE TO THE GLARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BEEN BURNING APPROXIMATELY 1/2 QUART OF OIL PER WEEK SINCE OCTOBER 2016. IT HAD 128000 MILES AT THAT TIME. IT NOW HAS 134500 MILES. I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES PER WEEK. I FEAR ENGINE PROBLEMS AND POSSIBLE SEIZURE. I HAD A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TEST DONE AT 129500, BUT THEIR VERDICT WAS THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NOT WITHIN THE REALM OF NEEDING REPAIR. THE ENGINE USED 3/4 QUART OF OIL OVER 1250 MILES, BUT THE TOYOTA GUIDELINE IS 1.1 QUART DURING THE TEST TIME PERIOD.
UNKNOWN MY VEHICLE WAS MOBILE, AT THE NORMAL SPEED LIMIT OF 35MPH ON A CITY STREET, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL. BY THE TIME I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO STOP MY ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WENT ON, WITH A WHIZZING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE.
