I was driving on [XXX] in Miami, FL. As I stopped at a red light, the STOP/START process powered the car down. Then, all systems turned off. I put the car in park and turned the key, the engine would not turn over. I was stranded in the middle of traffic. To no avail, I tried to start the engine at least five times. Strangers helped me to push the car to the side of the road. After about 15 minutes, the car turned on weakly. I drove immediately to the Toyota dealership. While driving the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross on the highway, my car’s dashboard indicated a warning stating “12-Volt Battery Charging; System Malfunction Stop in a Safe Place; See Owner’s Manual.” I immediately got off the highway and called Toyota Roadside Assistance to get the car towed to the dealership. I was informed the following day, the Corolla Cross is not putting out enough battery to its alternator, and causing the car to not be safe to drive. To this date, the car is still in the dealership after 70+ days and I have logged a formal complaint with Toyota directly. The service person at the dealership informed there were additional Corolla Crosses at the dealership who has experienced this issue and awaiting solution/parts too. I decided to contact NHTSA when I heard the problem was not just my vehicle but could potentially be a larger issue with this model of cars.
Vehicle message flashes up: "Voltage abnormality Steering Power Low" and car shuts off entirely while driving!!!! A quick Google yields scores of other people experiencing the same problem, many of them bringing in the car to the dealership with no fix made! Only 5,000 miles on the car! Vehicle has been brought back to dealership after being towed home.
We came to a complete stop and the engine turned off completely. We got a message that said “power steering is low.” Input the car in park and had to restart the car. This happened twice that day. I believe intermittent wipers were on. I believe this is the same issue flagged here by multiple individuals in this Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/comments/t7rv4b?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=4
