Car is 76000 miles , I just purchased the vehicle however coolant bypass valve decide to make car say Engine maintenance require even after having it serviced for an oil change. After I replaced the valve , now the pop up Engine maintenance light did not pop up after that. That was the problem .
Bypass coolant valve for the engine needed replacement, multiple other Toyotas within the year range needed the same fix right after warranty ended at a specific mileage. Was told my engine would fail if not addressed or fixed.
I was driving in the rain using the windshield wipers came to a stop and the engine start stop. The engine stopped and a warning sign came on saying the engine is stopped. \ power fluid low/ The steering wheel also would not turn. I had to put my hazard lights on, put the car in park and then restart the car.. this could be dangerous if I had been on the freeway.
I was stopped at a red light in a very light rain with intermittent wipers going. Engine stopped as it does when stopped. When light turned green and I pressed the gas, nothing happened. Car rolled forward but due to grade not engine. Display message said something like Engine stopped. Press brake firmly. That’s all I remember. There was a car behind me honking loudly and frequently. I sat there for a minute or two trying to get the engine going again. Y moving the shifter. I was able to take the car in and out of park multiple times, which I should not have been able to do if the engine was off, so the engine was not off. I think I must have finally hit the engine start switch but I don’t remember how many time. Once the engine started again the car without further problem.
