ON 2/19/15 AT AROUND 9:27 PM MY CAR WAS HIT BY A PICKUP TRUCK IN DOWNTOWN BELLEVUE, HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED 1. I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION TO TAKE A LEFT FROM BELLEVUE WAY NE TO ENTER NE 7TH ST WHICH TAKES INTO THE LINCOLN SQUARE CINEMA PARKING LOT 2. I SAW THE RED SIGNAL (EXCLUSIVE LEFT ARROW) AND WAITED FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN TO TAKE LEFT. MY CAR WAS FIRST IN LINE WAITING ON RED 3. ONCE THE LEFT ARROW TURNED GREEN I STARTED TURNING LEFT AND HALF WAY INTO THE ROADWAY A PICKUP TRUCK (DRIVING AT AROUND 45-50 MPH) HIT MY CAR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE (SIDE COLLISION) 4. WITH THAT IMPACT MY CAR WAS DRAGGED ABOUT 15 FEET AND HIT ANOTHER CAR, THAT WAS STANDSTILL AND WAITING TO TURN RIGHT FROM NE 7THST TO BELLEVUE WAY NE) THE IMPACT TO MY CAR WAS SO INTENSE POLICE OFFICER FILED A CASE AND INTERVIEWED WITNESSES AT THE SCENE AND CONCLUDED IT WAS OTHER GUY (PICKUP TRUCK) MISTAKE. HOWEVER, I AM SURPRISED WHY AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY? MINE IS FAIRLY NEW CAR, ONLY 3 YEAR OLD WITH 33K MILAGE. I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN DECEMBER 2011 I AM TAKING THIS SERIOUS BECAUSE, FORTUNATELY MY WIFE IS NOT IN THE CAR WHEN ACCIDENT HAPPENED. HOWEVER, ME AND MY WIFE USUALLY GO EVERYWHERE TOGETHER, AND I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF SHE WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAR. SO I WANT TO FILE A CASE AGAINST THE CAR COMPANY FOR SELLING ME A DEFECTIVE CAR. *TR
MY 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS ACTING UP WE THE RPM GOING HIGHER THAN NORMAL. THE CAR ONCE GOES DOWNHILL IT AUTOMATIC INCREASE SPEED. I WILL LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THIS PROBLEM TAKING CARE OR IT. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. *TR
I'M A 52 YEAR OLD MALE DRIVER AND THE CAR IS A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA AUTOMATIC DRIVE. THE TEMPERATURE WAS 4 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP TURNING LEFT ON TO A RURAL ROUTE HEADING WEST. THE ACCELERATOR DROPPED TO THE FLOOR GOING FAR BEYOND WHERE I PUSHED IT WITH MY FOOT. I HAD TO STOMP THE BRAKE SO IT WOULD RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR AS IT ALREADY ACCELERATED BEYOND SAFE SPEEDS. THE ACCELERATOR WASN'T STUCK IN A FLOOR MAT AS IT RELEASED WHEN I STOMPED THE BRAKE. THE 2011 COROLLA OFTEN EXHIBITS AN AUTO-PILOT FEELING ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD OR GOING DOWNHILL AT WHICH YOU CAN REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND IT WILL MAINTAIN THAT SPEED FOR ANOTHER MILE OR SO RATHER THAN DECELERATING. DURING THIS TIME, THE BRAKE STIFFENS AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A STRONG UPWARD FORCE ON YOUR FOOT AS YOU TRY TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DOESN'T DECELERATE THE VEHICLE VERY MUCH. IT APPEARS TO TRY TO CONTINUE THE SPEED THE AUTO-PILOT CHOSE. WHEN THE AUTO-PILOT ISN'T EXPERIENCE, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NORMAL AND GOES DOWN WHEN DEPRESSED AS YOU WOULD EXPECT. I HAVE TRIED TO DOWNSHIFT TO FORCE DECELERATION AS WELL BUT SHIFTING INTO THIRD DOES NOT RESET THE AUTO-PILOT. SHIFTING INTO SECOND MIGHT RELEASE THE AUTO-PILOT BUT I BELIEVE THAT IS DANGEROUS TO THE OCCUPANTS AND HARMFUL TO THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAVE NOT TRIED SHIFTING INTO SECOND. I'M QUITE CONCERN THAT THIS WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. NOTICING ON OTHER INTERNET SITES THAT PEOPLE HAVE CLAIMED THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR 2011 COROLLA, I THOUGHT I SHOULD ADD MY EXPERIENCE IN HOPES TO SEE A RECALL. *TR

I WAS GETTING OUT A PARKING IN REVERSE, SUDDENLY THE CAR ACCELERATED WITHOUT CONTROL CRASHING WITH THE CAR WAS BEHIND IN THE OTHER EXTREME IN THE PARKING. DAMAGES:1-BUMPER, RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE REAR SIDES OF MY CAR 2-BACK, FRONT, AND SIDES OF THE CAR WHICH MY CAR STOPPED. *TR
TAKATA RECALL, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE REMEDY TO BE AVAILABLE TO OUR CAR, IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS NOW AND STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO OUR MAKE AND MODEL AND WE KEEP GETTING NOTICES IN THE MAIL.
TAKATA RECALL - THE AIRBAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 20-25 MPH WHEN I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL GET OUT OF CONTROL I TRIED TO STEER IT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION BUT IT JUST STEERED TO THE RIGHT AND AT THE MOMENT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I COULDN'T CONTROL THE CAR CAUSING ME TO RUN INTO A SIDE WALK AND ALMOST HITTING A POLE ALSO THE ACCIDENT CAUSED MY WHOLE WHEEL AND SUSPENSION TO COMPLETELY BREAK ALSO THE CV DRIVE SHAFT CAME OFF NO ONE WAS HURT BUT I AM REALLY CONCERNED THAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY ROAD THERE COULD HAVE BEEN CASUALTIES AND I WANT A RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA AND HELP BECAUSE THIS IS VERY UNFORTUNATE. *TR
MY CAR SEEMS TO BE ACCELERATING AS OPPOSED TO BRAKING WHEN I APPLY BRAKE AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (AROUND 20 MPH). I NOTICED IT FIRST IN OCTOBER 2014 AND THOUGHT IT WAS RANDOM INCIDENT OR MY MISJUDGMENT. LATER THAT YEAR AND IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME THING WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING. FORTUNATELY WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR CRASHES IN THIS VEHICLE SO FAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT AND AFTER DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE BRAKES ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATED AND ABRUPTLY STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE. A LOUD NOISE WAS PRESENT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
2011 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG ON- OFF SWITCH. *TGW THE CONSUMER REQUESTED AN AIR BAG ON-OFF SWITCH, DUE TO A MEDICAL CONDITION. *JB
I WAS APPROACHING A FOUR WAY STOP AT THE APPROPRIATE SPEED LIMIT OF 35MPH BEFORE THE IMPACT. AS I WAS GETTING CLOSER, I WENT AHEAD AND DECELERATED. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES IN THE PAST. AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE STOP SIGN, IN A BLINK OF AN EYE, I WAS BEING DRAGGED BY A LARGE CHEVY HEAVY DUTY TRUCK ACROSS THE INTERSECTION. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. THE IMPACT COMPLETELY DISMANTLED MY FRONT END. AFTER THE PARAMEDICS AND FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVE, I WAS RUSHED TO THE ER FOR REPORTED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. I WAS LOOKED OVER AND WAS DISCHARGED BARELY BEING ABLE TO WALK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP QUITE A DISTANCE AWAY FROM MY HOME. MY INSURANCE SAID THE SHOP COULD BE TRUSTED. I ASKED OVER 20 PEOPLE AND EACH PERSON SAID THAT THE DAMAGE FROM THIS CAR HAS TO RESULT IN BEING TOTALED. THE MECHANIC SAID OTHERWISE. HE BEGAN WORKING ON THE CAR WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND DEMANDED; THREATENED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO PAY HIM $4,000 FOR A FEW DAYS OF WORK AND $7,000 LATER ON. THIS WAS AFTER I HAD ALREADY SPOKEN WITH MY INSURANCE TO FILE THIS CAR AS BEING TOTALED. THE MECHANIC THREATENED FOR MONEY SAYING HE HAD ALREADY STARTED ON THE CAR WHEN HE NEVER EVEN TOUCHED IT AFTER 3 WEEKS. I USED TO TRUST TOYOTA VEHICLES, BUT AFTER THIS ACCIDENT I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN. THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM SAID IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I WAS ALIVE. MY COMPLAINT IS THE AIRBAGS AND BRAKES FAILED TO DO THEIR JOB. *TR
I WAS HIT BY A HONDA VAN RUNNING A REDLIGHT HIT ME RIGHT ON THE FRONT PASSANGER SIDE CAR SPEND 360 NONE OF THE AIRBAG WAS DEPLOY THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR WAS NOT FIXABLE IT A TOTAL LOSS TO THE CAR BUT NONE THE THE AIRBAGE WAS DEPLOY THE VAN THAT HIT ME WAS GOING BETWEEN 30 TO 40 MILES. *TR.....UPDATED 12/17/15 *BF *JS
I WAS GOING TO AN ATM AT ABOUT 8 MPH WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IT BY PRESSING THE BRAKE. THE CAR JUMPED A CURB, WENT THROUGH A HEDGE TO A FIELD, UP A HILL, HEADING AT 90 DEGREES TO A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. I MANAGED TO STEER THE CAR TO GO PARALLEL TO THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR REACHED THE HIGHWAY CURB. THE CAR THEN STOPPED. THREE TIRES WERE BLOWN AND THE CAR INCURRED BODY DAMAGE. *TR
ONCE A MONTH OR SO WHEN I AM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR DOES NOT DECELERATE AS NORMAL WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR TEND TO STAYS AT THE SPEED IT WAS AT UNTIL I USE THE BREAK. IT IS ALMOST LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS BEEN TURNED ON WITHOUT NOTICE (IT IS NEVER TURNED ON DURING THESE CASES). THIS SOMETIMES INCLUDES THE SLIGHT ACCELERATION LIKE SOME CAR GET WHEN THEY ARE GOING BACK ON CRUISE CONTROL. LUCKILY I KEEP A GOOD DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. I CAN SEE THIS ISSUES CAUSING ACCIDENTS. *TR
SHAKING OF CAR AND SWEAKY BRAKES
IT WAS A FOUR CAR PILE UP. A CAR THAT WAS TWO CARS IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY STOPPED AND CAUSE TRAFFIC TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, NOBODY WAS HIT AT FIRST. A BLACK TRUCK DID NOT REALIZE TRAFFIC HAD STOPPED AND HAD A LOT OF SPEED ON HIM AND CRASHED INTO A VAN THAT WAS BEHIND ME WHICH CRASHED INTO MY TOYOTA COROLLA WHICH CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO THE SUBURBAN IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR AND THE VAN WHO HIT ME WERE TOTALLED OUT, BUT DURING THE WRECK MY AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED AND THE GUY WHO WORKED AT THE TOWING PLACE SAID HE DOES NOT SEE WHY MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE WOULD SOMETIMES CONTINUE RUNNING AT THE SAME RPM, NOT DECREASING AND COASTING AS HE WOULD EXPECT. AS TIME PROGRESSED, THE ISSUE BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND THE DECREASE IN RPM SOMETIMES CAME 30 SECONDS AFTER PRESSURE WAS LIFTED FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC LOCKS AND THE DOORS DID NOT HAVE A PLACE TO INSERT A KEY, PREVENTING HER FROM OPENING THE DOOR IF THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
I BEGIN HEARING AN UNEXPLAINABLE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AT 33,527 MILES WHEN DRIVING SLOW AND OVER SPEED BUMPS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (ARLINGTON TOYOTA) ON 6/12/2013 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED OVER. AFTER PERFORMING A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND ASKED TO COME BACK IF IT CONTINUED TO MAKE THE NOISE. ON THE RIDE HOME AND UP UNTIL 4/24/2014, IT CONTINUED TO MAKE THE SAME NOISE PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AS TIME WENT ON. ON 4/24/2014 I FINALLY HAD ENOUGH OF THE NOISE AND STARTED TO DO SOME INVESTIGATING OF MY OWN. I LOOKED OVER AT THE PORTION OF THE STRUTS THAT WERE VISIBLE, AND FOUND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WITH A GREASY SUBSTANCE RUNNING DOWN THE STRUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (ARLINGTON TOYOTA) AND WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER REQUIRING THE SERVICE MANAGER TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND THEN TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BEFORE LEAVING, AND HIM ACTUALLY DRIVING IT, HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A FAILED FRONT DRIVER SIDE STRUT AND WOULD BE REPLACED AS "GOOD WILL". *TR
ON APRIL 19TH, 2014, AT ABOUT 1:30 PM, MYSELF AND MY WIFE LEFT OUR FRIEND'S HOME IN LOS ALTOS HILLS, CA. AS WE LEFT THE DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 5 MPH ON BAKER LN, THE CAR WENT INTO A SUDDEN, UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION MODE, REACHING SPEEDS 50 - 60 MPH. WITHIN ABOUT 1000 - 1500 FT WE APPROACHED A THE INTERSECTION OF BAKER LN AND PURISSIMA RD., ALL THE WHILE DESPERATELY TRYING TO PRESS THE BRAKE, APPLYING HAND BRAKE AND SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL. AGAINST THIS SUDDEN BURST OF ACCELERATION, THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AT THAT INTERSECTION, AND FELL INTO A DITCH AND STOPPED BY A TREE TRUNK. BOTH OF US WERE INJURED WITH MULTIPLE INTERNAL/ EXTERNAL FRACTURES, BUT WE WERE CONSCIOUS; MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD MORE GRIEVOUS INJURIES, INCLUDING AN OPEN WOUND OF BROKEN BONE IN ANKLE AND SEVERE SPINAL CORD INJURIES, AND WAS SCREAMING WITH PAIN. ONCE I COLLECTED MYSELF, I CALLED 911 AND THE FD/ PARAMEDICS RESPONDED AND WE WERE HAULED FROM THE DITCH BY CUTTING OPEN THE CAR DOORS. WE WERE TRANSPORTED TO STANFORD MEDICAL CENTER IN PALO ALTO, AFTER WHICH WE WERE SHIFTED TO OUR HMO, AFTER ABOUT 10 DAYS IN ICU. I AM NOW DISCHARGED AND REHABILITATING/ GETTING PHYSICAL THERAPY AT HOME, WHILE MY WIFE IS STILL AT A REHAB CENTER, OVER 10 WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE WEATHER, VISIBILITY AND ROAD CONDITIONS WERE EXCELLENT; BOTH OF US HAD OUR SEAT BELTS FIRMLY IN PLACE; NO CELL PHONE WAS BEING USED; I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND OFF THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE TIME; AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AS EXPECTED. SINCE BOTH OF US WERE CRITICALLY INJURED, WE COULD NOT INITIATE/ PURSUE ANY LEGAL ACTION AGAINST TOYOTA AND SURRENDERED THE VEHICLE (WHICH WAS TOTALED) TO MY INSURER, FARMERS. WE STRONGLY FEEL THAT TOYOTA IS FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE ACCELERATION SYSTEM AND CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND MENTAL TRAUMA FOR BOTH OF US. WE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED BY TOYOTA. *TR

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE LEVER WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF IN ORDER FOR THE ACCELERATION TO STOP. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. I REAR ENDED A TRUCK FULL BUMPER TO FULL BUMPER COLLISION GOING ABOUT 25-30MPH. MY ENTIRE FRONT END WAS CRUSHED, RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION BUSTED, AND FRONT BUMPER PULLED OFF, AND INSIDE CAR UNDER STEERING WHEEL HAD BEEN SLIGHTLY PUSHED OUT TOWARDS DRIVER SEAT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I BUSTED THE WINDSHIELD WITH MY HEAD WHEN I HIT IT GIVING ME A CONCUSSION AND HAD CONTUSIONS TO MY CHEST FROM HITTING STEERING WHEEL, AND CONTUSION AND SPRAIN TO MY RIGHT HAND. NO ONE INCLUDING POLICE, FIREMEN, AMBULANCE, AND WRECKING YARD COULD BELIEVE MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY HUSBAND AND I CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THIS AND THEY ASSURED ME IT SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED AND SENT ME AN EMAIL LINK TO READ DESCRIBING WHEN AIR BAGS SHOULD DEPLOY. WHEN I CALLED BACK AFTER READING THE EMAIL AND TOLD THE MAN WHAT THE EMAIL SAID AND THAT MY AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED HE CALLED ME A LIAR, AND SAID THAT WAS NOT WHAT THE EMAIL SAID. MY HUSBAND THEN CALLED AND REQUESTED INFORMATION FROM EDR BE DOWNLOADED AND READ. I CAME TO AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPED, THEN TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE BEFORE NOTICING THAT THE LIGHT WAS STILL RED. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS ROUGHLY 30 FEET AWAY WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES. I SHOULD HAVE EASILY BEEN ABLE TO STOP. BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE AND I HAD BEEN PUSHING THEM SO HARD AND FOR SO LONG THAT I FRACTURED MY ANKLE. THERE WERE NOT EVEN SKID MARKS AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE. MY CAR HAD FRONT END FRAME DAMAGE FROM THE ACCIDENT (TOTALED), AND THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. ADDITIONALLY, IN THE PAST I HAD NOTICED THE RPMS RISING FOR NO REASON WHILE CAR WAS IDLING, AND THE ACCELERATION ISSUE, WHERE THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO ?HANG? I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT MOVED TO THE FRONT AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE FLOORMAT COULD JAM THE GAS PEDAL LIKE IT HAPPENED BEFORE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE HAVE BEEN FATALITIES DUE TO GAS PEDALS JAMMED BY THE FLOORMAT ON PREVIOUS TOYOTA MODELS. AFTER A WEEK I TOOK THE CAR AGAIN TO THE SAME DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY VERIFIED THE CAR WITH DIFFERENT SET OF DRIVERS AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING. I CALLED UP TOYOTA AND REGISTERED A COMPLAINT. BUT THEY SAID WITHOUT REPORT FROM THE DEALER THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THEY ALSO REPEATED THE SAME AS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. NOW I AM NOT SURE WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED. I REALLY FEEL THAT SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING AND I AM LOOSING CONTROL. STEERING FEELS MUCH LIGHTER AND LOOSER THAN BEFORE AND I FEEL IT IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAYS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH AND ABOVE AT ANY CRUISE SPEED WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL NOT ON, THE VEHICLE TENDS TO DECELERATE AND ACCELERATE BACK AT THE CRUISE/RPM SPEED AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR HIGHWAY AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED THE CAR WILL DRIFT TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. WHEN I CORRECT THE STEERING IT THEN WILL OVER CORRECTS AND SEND ME OUT OF MY LANE. SO I NOW HAVE TO DRIVE WITH A FIRM GRIP ON THE MY STEERING WHEEL WHICH DOES NOT STOP THE ISSUE BUT HELPS ME TO MAKE CONSTANT LITTLE CORRECTS AT ALL TIMES. DRIVING HAS NEVER BEEN SO ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING AND TERRIFYING ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AS WELL AS MY 3 YEAR OLD SON'S SAFETY. THE NHTSA DID AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE STEERING OF THE 2009-2010 COROLLAS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND COULD HAVE SAVED US ALL THIS HASSLE THE FIRST GO AROUND. MAYBE AFTER A FEW MORE PEOPLE DIE AND THEY HIT A CERTAIN QUOTA THEY WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT DEFECTIVE CARS THAT ARE LITERALLY STEERING THEMSELVES. I HAVE TAKEN MY 2011 COROLLA INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 4 TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY JUST TELL ME THAT IT'S THE WIND AND THE ROAD CAUSING MY STEERING ISSUES. YET WHEN I TAKE TO AN OUTSIDE SERVICE CENTER JUST TO VERIFY THE STEERING ISSUE, THEIR TECHS HAVE NO PROBLEM NOTICING WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. BACK IN 2010 THE CEO OF TOYOTA STATED HE WOULD FIX THE ISSUE FREE OF CHARGE FOR ANY CUSTOMER STATING THEY HAD A PROBLEM. OF COURSE THIS WAS WITH FOREGOING THE RECALL. SO NOW THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CLAIM TO HAVE ISSUES, THEY ARE BEING TURNED AWAY AT SERVICE CENTERS. AND WHEN THEY TRY TO SUE TO SELL BACK THEIR CAR, TOYOTA FINDS A WAY OUT OF THAT TOO. STEERING ISSUES ARE BEING FOUND IN COROLLA FROM 2009 TO 2013. IT'S TIME SOMETHING IS DONE!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER VIBRATED. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED TO CLEAN THE WINDOW, WHICH MADE VISIBILITY DIFFICULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE HAD BEEN REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 75MPH, WHILE ON AN INCLINE, EITHER APPROACHING THE HILL DOWN/UP THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO VIOLENTLY JERK BACK AND FORTH (BUMPER TO BUMPER). I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON WEDNESDAY 06 FEB 2013, ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND I WAS ACCUSED OF WASTING THEIR TIME. MAINTENANCE MANAGER DIDN'T ATTEMPT TO RECREATE ISSUE I EXPERIENCED ON AN INCLINE, BUT INSTEAD TEST DROVE IT ON A FLAT SURFACE ABOUT 2 MILES, THE MAINTENANCE TEAM CHECKED THE FLUIDS AND COMPUTER.. STATED ON MAINTENANCE SLIP THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DISCOLORED AND WOULD NEED TO BE FLUSHED SOON, COMPUTER HAD NO ERROR CODES. AFTER I WAS VERBALLY BERATED BY THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER, I EXPLAINED THAT I WOULD INSTALL A VIDEO CAMERA IN MY VEHICLE TO RECORD THE EVENTS I WAS EXPERIENCING, UPON ASKING IF I RECORDED THE ISSUE, WOULD THEY THEN TAKE ACTION AND REPAIR MY VEHICLE, I WAS LAUGHED AT AND ESSENTIALLY TOLD THAT THEY WOULD FIND A WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT TOYOTA WAS NOT AT FAULT. I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP OUT-OF-STATE, THAT FLUID SHOULD NOT BE DISCOLORED UNDER 65K MILES AND THAT THERE WAS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE. AFTER NO FURTHER ACTION WAS TAKEN, I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND FILED A COMPLAINT, UPPER MANAGEMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP THEN OFFERED TO DO A RIDE ALONG, ON 12 FEB 2013. *TR
IT OCCURRED IN OUR PARKING AT 11.30PM, 24 HRS AFTER THE LAST TIME WE DROVE. WE DIDN'T INSTALL ANYTHING IN THE CAR. THE CAR HAD MIRRORS THAT FOLD AND IMMOBILIZER (INSTALLED BY TOYOTA HERE IN ISRAEL) THE GLASSES EXPLODED TO THE OUTSIDE (ACCORDING TO THE FIREMAN) THE FIRE STARTED NEAR OR AT THE BATTERY (ACCORDING TO THE FIREMAN) THE FIRE MOVED FROM THE FRONT PART, TO THE PASSENGERS PART (ACCORDING TO THE FIREMAN). *TR
