THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V340000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR TAKATA FROM TOYOTA. THE RECALL NOTICE SAID THAT IF ANYONE SAT IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH ME AND THE AIRBAG INFLATED, THERE COULD BE SERIOUS PERSONAL BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED ON MARY 4 AND I RECEIVED NOTICE ON JUNE 9. TO THIS DATE, I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN ANY NOTICE OF WHAT TOYOTA WILL DO TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED THEM, I WAS TOLD THE "ENGINEERS WERE WORKING ON A SOLUTION." IN THE MEANTIME, I AM PAYING MONTHLY PAYMENTS OF $240 AND AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING MY CAR. WHEN I HAVE A PASSENGER, THEY HAVE TO RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT. MY COMPLAINT IS AGAINST TAKATA AND TOYOTA FOR KNOWING OF THIS PROBLEM AND NOT SOLVING IT. THEY MENTIONED THAT I COULD GET A RENTAL, BUT I HAVE NOWHERE TO PARK IT. I AM A 74 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO TURN. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND WHAT IS AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN I WILL BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AGAIN WITHOUT CONSTANT STRESS?

********TAKATA RECALL********* RECEIVED THE NOTICE OVER A YEAR AGO. STILL WAITING. I WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IT IS NOT A PRIORITY - BUT IT IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO BE TOLD THAT I SHOULD NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THIS IS REMEDIED. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT. THEY OFFER NO HELP WITH A LOANER CAR OR HELP WITH PAYING FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL THIS IS REMEDIED!

WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MAY 2016 AND IT'S NOW OCTOBER 2016 AND WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REMEDY. I UNDERSTAND THE VEHICLES IN THE HOTTEST CLIMATE AREAS ARE BEING REPAIRED FIRST. WE LIVE IN TEXAS AND STILL HAVE NO REMEDY! MY DAUGHTER IS IN COLLEGE DRIVING AROUND WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG! IF I COULD AFFORD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR, I WOULD BUT I CAN'T! BESIDES BEING A TOTAL INCONVENIENCE THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. TAKATA RECALL - MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR AIRBAG REPLACEMENT LAST MAY (2016) AND I WAS ADVISED NOT TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND OUT WHEN MY CAR WILL BE REPAIRED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD, MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. IF THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, CAN I ASK WHAT IS BEING INSTALLED IN NEW MODELS. TAKATA RECALL.
MY HUSBAND WAS HIT HEAD ON BY A CAR SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY. HE WAS TRAVELING 50 TO 60 MPH WHEN THE CARS IN FRONT OF HIM SWERVED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE ONCOMING VEHICLE LEAVING HIM NO TIME TO REACT. HE HAD JUST STARTED BREAKING UPON IMPACT WHICH WAS FORCEFUL ENOUGH TO PUSH HIS CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO THE GUARD RAIL. YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS DAMAGED, THE BUMPER COMPLETELY TORN OFF THE CAR, AND THE ENGINE FORCED BACK FROM THE FRAME OF THE CAR. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. EVEN THOUGH HE WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT, MY HUSBAND HIT HIS HEAD ON THE TOP OF THE CAR NEAR THE WINDSHIELD AND SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT WHIPLASH FROM THE IMPACT. WE CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED FROM AN IMPACT LIKE THIS. WE CHECKED AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS REGARDING AIRBAGS FOR THIS CAR. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. THEY SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF AND PROTECTED MY HUSBAND DURING THIS COLLISION.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW BUT IT SEEMS HAS BECOME WORSE. I ENCOUNTER DIFFICULTY STEERING AT HIGH SPEEDS. STEERING IS EXTREME SENSITIVE WITH THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT CAUSES GREAT CHANGE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR OVERREACTS TO SMALL STEERING INPUTS OR REQUIRED TOO MUCH EFFORT TO KEEP IN A LANE ON THE HIGHWAY. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE. I FIND THE CAR WANDERING AND CONSTANT CORRECTIONS ON THE HIGHWAY OR AT HIGHER SPEEDS (25+). MY DAUGHTER JUST STARTED DRIVING (SHE IS 16) AND IT IS WAY TOO SENSITIVE FOR HER. SHE FEELS THE SAME WAY AND MY WIFE THAT HAS DROVE THE CAR TOO. I KNOW THAT THERE IS A TSB-0140-10 ON NHTSA #10034944 ON STEERING FOR THE 2009-2010 BUT I FEEL MY CAR HAS THE SAME ISSUES. MAYBE MY CAR HAS THE PARTS FROM EARLIER MODELS (2009-2010). I HAVE CHECKED MY TIRES AIR PRESSURE AND ALSO TIRE WEAR. ALL IS NORMAL. PLEASE HELP. I WANT MY DAUGHTER TO HAVE THIS COROLLA BUT I FEEL AT IT'S CURRENT DETECTIVE STEERING IT IS NOT SAFE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO CONTINUED TURNING AFTER THE TURN WAS COMPLETE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TAKATA RECALL THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WE FIRST RECEIVED THE RECALL BACK IN APRIL 2016 I ALSO OWEN A 2011 SUBARU AND THE TAKATA AIRBAG WAS REPLACED BACK IN JANUARY 2017 SO I CALLED TOYOTA BACK IN OCTOBER 2016 THEY HAD NO ANSWERS TO WHEN THEY WOULD START THE RECALL REPAIRS, I CHECK THE WEBSITE TODAY AND STILL NOTHING HERE IS WHAT IT SAID HTTPS://WWW.TOYOTA.COM/RECALL REMEDY TOYOTA IS CURRENTLY PREPARING THE REMEDY FOR THIS CONDITION AND WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE. TAKATA RECALL: AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN RECENT CAR ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS SIDE SWIPED OFF THE HIGHWAY. PINKY FINGER ON RIGHT HAND WAS NEARLY CHOPPED OFF BY SHARP OBJECT COMING FROM AIRBAG. NEEDED 10 STITCHES TO SEW PINKY FINGER BACK TO RING FINGER IN THE ER.
ON JANUARY 7, 2016 WE BROUGHT OUR CAR TO THE WESTON, FLORIDA TOYOTA DEALERSHIP BECAUSE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE "CANISTER" AND THAT IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY GAVE US A LONER-CAR AND SAID THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED IN TWO DAYS. LATER THAT WEEK, THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD US THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD BE "A WHILE" UNTIL THE PART ARRIVED. WE STILL HAVE THE "LOANER" AND THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE JANUARY 7TH. TODAY IS APRIL 27TH. SO FAR 110 DAYS. THE LOANER CAR IS VERY NICE (2015 TOYOTA COROLLA). MY WIFE LOVES THE BACK-UP CAMERA, BUT HER CAR STILL SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAS 44,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED ONLY ONCE BEFORE. INTERESTINGLY, THE PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE CAR HAD TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER. THE CAR WOULD LOSE OVER 100 RPM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THEN QUICKLY ACCELERATE BACK UP TO THE PRECEDING RPM. I THINK THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE FLASHED THE COMPUTER OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT MADE ME THINK (IN LAYMAN'S LANGUAGE) THAT HE "REBOOTED" THE CAR'S COMPUTER. THIS WEEK THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY EXPECT THE NEW COMPUTER TO ARRIVE BY MAY 15TH. I WROTE A LETTER TO SOUTHEAST TOYOTA AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT WE WERE NOT ALONE BUT THERE ARE OVER 50 CARS IN THEIR SYSTEM THAT NEED NEW COMPUTERS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MOST POPULAR CAR IN THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OR SUPPLIERS TO REPLACE THE ONES THAT GO BAD...TO GET A COMPUTER FROM MANUFACTURING TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD TAKE FEWER THAN FIVE MONTHS. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AT A TURN, SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COLD AND CAUSING MY CAR TO SLIP. LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT BUT WHEN I SLOWED AND TURNED, MY CAR WOULD TURN OFF AND RIGHT BACK ON. I COULD NOT GET A DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT THE DEALER. BUT THEN I TOOK A TEST AND FOUND OUT I HAVE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. NOT SURE IF RELATED.
TAKATA RECALL - STILL WAITING FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, CAPITOL TOYOTA, SAN JOSE CA 95136, AND I AM ON A WAIT LIST FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST IN DECEMBER 2015.
MY TOYOTA BURNS OIL TO MUCH, I NEED TO ADD OIL EVERY WEEK AND ALSO NOW IT GIVES ME A CODE OF MISFIRING LAST TIME I BOUGHT IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ANF THEY CHARGED ME $2800 TO FIX IT. TAKATA RECALL OUR CAR SRS LIGHTS ON , WHILE DIAGANOSED IN TOYOTA SERVICE CENTRE THEY FOUND FAULT AS 'AN OPEN IN RIGHT SIDE AIR BAG HARNESS' , FOR THIS THEY ASKED TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG HARNESS AT THE COST OF 1246. THERE IS NO ACCIDENT OR SMALL COLLITION TILL NOW. THEN HOW THIS AIR BAG PROBLEM WILL COME. MAY BE AIR BAG QUALITY IS NOT GOOD. ALSO FOR DIAGNOSED THEY BILLED $122. THIS IS TOO COSTLY. SINCE WE HAVE NOT TOUCHED ANYTHING IN THIS PART HOW THIS KIND OF AIR BAG ISSUE IS COMING. PLEASE HELP US ON THIS ISSUE. IMMEDIATELY (3-4 SEC) AFTER THE HESITATION THE VEHICLE RECOVERS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL RPM. AS LONG AS STAYING IN THIS SPEED RANGE (55-65 MPH) THE VEHICLE HAS THE HESITATION REPEATEDLY. THE SECOND ISSUE THAT I HAVE NOTICED ON THE SAME VEHICLE IS THE ACTUAL DECELERATION WHEN REMOVING MY FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR. THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HIT A STATIONARY VEHICLE ON ITS LEFT REAR, AT 25 PLUS MPH, WITH NO ADVANCE BRAKING. DRIVER EXPERIENCED FULL SUN BLINDNESS. NATURALLY THE QUARTER PANELS WERE DESTROYED, BUT THE DAMAGE INCLUDED THE SUSPENSION, WHEEL UNIVERSAL, CAR DOORS WERE PUSHED TOGETHER, AND THERE WAS EVEN A RUMBLE ON THE ROOF. CAR TOTALED. NO AIR BAGS EVER DEPLOYED. THIS SAID, THE DRIVER WAS UNSCATHED AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS STILL GOOD. THE ISSUE GIVEN THAT THE DOORS WERE PUSHED TOGETHER, THERE WAS A RUMPLE IN THE ROOF, BOTH TIRES WERE DEFLATED, AND THE UNIVERSAL AND AXELS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED (THIS WAS THE MINIMUM IDENTIFIED DAMAGE), THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT.
I OWN A 2010 SIMILAR MODEL AND I HAVE JUST RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS. IN AUGUST, I PURCHASED A 2011 TOYOTA CORROLLA. I WAS DRIVING IT HOME AND NOTICED THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED. THE LAMP HAS STAYED CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED SINCE THE DATE I NOTICED IT. THIS MIMICS THE BEHAVIOUR INDICATED IN THE RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2010 MODEL.
I USE THE REAR DEFROST FRIDAY AND SATURDAY IN THE MORNING. NEVER USE THIS. YESTERDAY IN THE MORNING THE REAR GLASS IS CRASH. THE CAR IS OFFF IN THE PARKING. HAVE MELTED THE DEFROST INSIDE.
THIS CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A THREE CAR COLLISION. A VAN TURNED LEFT SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT SIGNALING. THE CAR BEHIND THE VAN SLAMMED ON BRAKES. THE NEXT CAR HIT THE FIRST CAR IN THE BACK. THE THIRD CAR (MY CAR) HIT THE SECOND CAR IN THE BACK AND PUSHED HIM INTO THE FIRST CAR. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND I WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE FRONT AIR BAGS AND ALL FOUR OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. WE BOTH HAD ON OUR SEAT BELTS BUT THEY DID NOT LOCK. I, SEATING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH MY SEAT BELT ON, WAS PROPELLED INTO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CIRCULAR PATTERN OF CRACKS WHERE I HIT IT WITH MY FACE. LUCKILY, MY FACE WAS ONLY CUT AND SEVERELY BRUISED WITH NO BROKEN BONES. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK. NEITHER THE SEAT BELT NOR THE AIR BAGS PREVENTED ME FROM HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. MY DAUGHTER'S SEAT BELT ALSO DID NOT LOCK BUT THE AIR BAG PREVENTED HER FROM BEING SEVERELY INJURED.

I ASKED IF I COULD TAKE OFF MY PASSENGER AIRBAG UNTIL IT BECOMES FIXED AND THEY SAID "NO". SO NOW I LITERALLY AM DRIVING A DEATH TRAP. I STARTED TO HEAR A LOUD ROARING/ROAD NOISE FROM FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH. SINCE MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT, I ASSUMED IT WAS A TIRE PROBLEM AND NOT A FAILED BEARING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO COSTCO WHERE I RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES. I INFORMED THE ADVISOR THERE THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ( I DID NOT SPECIFY A SIDE). HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRES AND SOUNDED LIKE A FAILED/FAILING BEARING. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2009-2013 TOYOTA COROLLA'S, SPECIFICALLY THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (ARLINGTON TOYOTA) WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING HAD FAILED AND THE REPLACEMENT WOULD COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARING AT NO COST TO ME. *TR
JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AT FREMONT TOYOTA. THEN I NOTICED THE STEERING SEEMS TO WANDERS. I HAVE TO CORRECT IT ALL THE TIME. HOW I WISH THEY WILL EXTEND THE TSB OR RECALL TO 2012 SINCE I HAVE READ SOME ARTICLES THAT EVEN THE 2012 COROLLA OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING.
